I'd personally rather there be no MMR
-
People are so faction-loyal in this game you would think "killer" and "survivor" were political parties, that's the main issue

BHVR said the gap is primarily due to the fact that solo q doesn't necessarily work together as much as SWF. Perks that encourage survivors to not work together, are therefore a problem. And yes, there are enough Distortion users that are playing "lone wolf", that it's a problem. Other lone wolf perks, like Calm Spirit, Sole Survivor, and Wake Up, should also be nerfed.
And yes, people can still hide without those perks. The goal isn't to completely remove hiding from the game. It's just to nerf or rework the perks that are encouraging or rewarding survivors for playing lone wolf strategies.
And yes, when a survivor excessively hides, and refuses to help with chases, that's lone wolf. And it doesn't matter if they are repairing generators, or occasionally unhooking a survivor when they think it's absolutely safe to do so. They're still sangbagging their team, and hurting their team's overall chances of survival.
I don't believe for a second you want these perks nerfed because you play survivor and want the game healthier for survivors
-
Some people choosing to hide in a horror game is not justification for a nerf
-
Just make the killer a bot
-
Clown. Had a brief stint with demogorgon back before thrill of the hunt got nerfed.
-
Who the hell cares
-
What the HECK they buffed David King??? He already had one of the best perks
-
I like how he says "As a Bubba main" like that's some kind of qualification lol. Are you able to give a more in-depth analysis because you play the fat chainsaw man?
-
So they can remove Jonah's facial hair, but not Jeff's?
-
Yeah that's the entire point of the perk, it counters stealth. If there weren't stealth killers, or if it didn't counter said stealth killers, it would be a bad perk.
But let's go ahead and take this perk away so we can make sure every survivor runs DS/BT/DH/COH.
-
Best update was Saw.
It was solid gold in all 4 categories: Nice Killer, survivor, map and perks. The map has some pallet issues, but it's designed beautifully. Overall everything I could ask for in a DLC.
Worst update was Binding of Kin.
Not only were all the perks bad, none of them even worked on launch. The Twins themselves were only good at camping, and Elodie is forgettable. I went on Hiatus for a while when that update launched because survivor gameplay was just laying on the ground, and killer gameplay had grown stale with no new maps or decent perks.
-
Wouldn't help unless you made the protection unreasonably long. Once one survivor knows, assume they all know and that it's gonna go down the second that timer is up. They'll also likely deduce what hex you're using and play around it to avoid giving value. the only way to guarantee value is to give the totem such a level of protection that there would be no real point to them being hex perks.
TLDR, the risk is to be accepted or you shouldn't use hexes.

What killer would want to play on Disturbed ward? Especially as a map offering.
Map offerings with maps as unbalanced as they are in this game should not even exist
What killer would want to play on any map that's not Shelter Woods

I call BS. You don't get 7 Midwiches or whatever in a row randomly.
They should remove map offerings full stop. They only exacerbate balance and exploit issues on maps by making it trivial for people who want to abuse those things to pick the problem map every time. Getting rid of map offerings wouldn't fix the map problems in question, but at least it would significantly reduce how often they appear overall in the matches.
Good job calling BS on my hypothetical example, Snopes

Map offerings I see: RPD, Haddonfield, corn, the one that can lead to Mother-dwelling, ... very annoying maps.
If teens want to get smacked offering Midwich or the Game, I'm all for it though.
Use a Meat Plant offering with Windows of Opportunity equipped for a free 5-gen chase
-
Too many choices
Fire Up, Gearhead, or Autodidact would be at the top of the list though

They just need to remove map offerings, it become a problem recently, and will reduce the amount of thash on the bloodweb
they need to remove the bloodweb and make a shop like every other game
I like map offerings, they keep me from getting my 7th midwich of the day. It's only really abusable in the hands of 4-mans and the masses shouldn't be punished for it.

Boons killed my favorite build, now I rarely play killer. When I do, I'm running some dime-a-dozen boring slowdown build that I don't actually want to run, but need to. The survivor meta has shifted in a way that crushes creativity.
-
In a thousand-something hours, I've seen it a single digit number of times
-
Infectious Fright Bubba, it's disgusting. Half the games I play with this build end at 3 gens. Bonus points for an offering to a tiny map.
Honorable mention to Iri Coin Deathslinger.

I still see a good amount of ppl who are mentioning it or complaining about DS. Often you see arguments like "Typical survivor using DS, DH, BT". You can argue that DH and BT can be pretty strong at certaign situations but I dont have any problem with Ds, especially after the nerf that its getting disabled after you touch a gen (still one of the best changes BHVR has ever done imo)
They complain about the DS/BT loadout because it's the most flowchart-ass way you could possibly play this game, not because DS is OP.
-
If the killer is being absolutely clowned on, he probably has NOED. It's the most obvious crutch an underperforming killer can rely on to try and bring a game back (don't @ me with your academic essay about it being balanced. I don't care about the balance. I'm saying it's a crutch)
With this in mind, I run small game and generally make time to run around cleansing for totems if we're stomping.

It's not even a God tier perk. You wouldn't run Undying on it'd own. It's used to make hexes last more then 20 seconds on average.
"Not even a god tier perk"
->Used by every killer at all levels because of the astronomical difference it makes in the longevity of the strongest perks in the game
Sure bud, we believe you
-
- we have a "WHAT IF (god tier perk) WAS BASEKIT" thread every day
- Negates the risk-reward aspect of totems that makes them balanced, no

BHVR won't do it because getting rid of the cheaters would also get rid of a chunk of thier players base because how abundant the cheats are we all can hazard a guess that let's say 30% of players are using some minor grade of cheating. I was playing a survivor match and I saw a player get on a unworked Gen and within 15 secs it took me to get there the Gen was already past 50% and she didn't have a tool box with her.
Now in regards to how simple the coding would be to fix the speed cheaters would be something like this.....
Player Repair speed value = X
Grey Tool Box Speed = Y
So what we would see would be X+Y=Z. While Z would be the total speed of the player with a Grey Box. The engine would scan for those values and when it sees a X+Y=V where V is a speed value that doesn't match with what should be there then it would kick the player for using a speed hack. But adding that to their own spaghetti coding would be difficult because that could break the game altogether.
This is such a load of crap LOL
-
Except the biggest problem with DBD cheaters is that they can make the game go on and on until you quit
Preventing them from making progress isn't a hindrance

A fresh hook has more seconds to be on that said hook than someone on second hook.
That is more game delay.
This is basic math.
If those 2 hooks happen within seconds of each other, you have lost a minute of time
This is basic math
-
Translation: "Give me a killer I can 1v1 so they have no realistic chance of winning this 1v4 game"
-
@WesCravenFan said:
Absolutely FALSE.
It is an AMAZINGLY good idea to trade hooks if you have no hooks and the other person is gonna die in 30 seconds. That is a huge game delay. Whether it is end game or not is irrelevant.
Also, a good hook trade gets me 2 stacks of We're Gonna Live Forever.
You're not delaying the game by unhooking 2 seconds after the guy just got hooked. you're only guaranteeing another down. Unless you're certain that guy is being camped, it isn't a good idea.
-
Took a long hiatus when Twins came out and didn't return until Resident Evil.
Twins were probably the laziest, most phoned-in update this game ever had. Not one perk worked properly and the only talent the Twins had was camping.
I haven't spent money on the game since then.
-
Killers today are vastly stronger than they were in 2016-2019. Just before boons was the peak of killer strength, and now they're a little bit below that. I don't know where you're getting the idea that there was a "sudden" change, because killers are still dramatically stronger than they used to be.
A C-tier killer can definitely win against any team with the right circumstances and prioritization. I still have a good winrate as Clown. Compared to 2019, this meta really isn't that bad. I'd much rather have the game as it is now than the old Mettle of Man scumbag meta.
-
Platform of choice only matters for killer. Survivors don't have to flick their cameras, looping is looping.

Because that's NOT how it should work. Every game should be a 50/50 on if you "win" or not. Based on how you play
Not this notion of "welp. You did well for a couple of matches. Here's a group that it's basically impossible to succeed against"
Yeah, that's definitely how it works. They purposely give you impossible games and you're not coping with a conspiracy.
-
"it only takes about 2 - 3 4k's before I'll be matched with the typical sweaty group of survivors that take the game way to seriously"
There it is
Here is where he admits that the game is working, but tries to frame it like it shouldn't be that way. He just doesn't like losing.
-
Today it censored gibberish that I was typing to be a silly fella
The next game, an Elodie angered me and I called her a stupid #########. It remained uncensored.
Filter don't work
-
Furtive Chase
Literally the least impactful perk in the game
-
- Crappy game
- We don't want 10-year-olds flooding our crappy game

I HATE ZOOMERS I HATE ZOOMERS I HATE ZOOMERS I HATE ZOOMERS
Take me back to TF2 where you get rewards for taunting a dominated player

@Mandy said:
The killswitch is there for something that's absolutely game breaking and can crash the game or be severely exploited where the game cannot end for example. Neither of those apply here, survivors can be slugged etc.
Whilst I appreciate RPD can be frustrating right now, it is something that has been brought up to the team.
Explain how one indestructible totem is going to drag the game on indefinitely
-
itt:
"ARRGH WHY WAS THE KILLER ABLE TO CAMP ME THIS IS WHY I NEED MY META PERKS BUFFED"
"The killer slug-camped you because you're running meta troll perks"
"ARRGH IGNORE MY TROLL PERKS AND BE OUTRAGED WITH ME"
-
Block all generators for 20 minutes and nail the survivors to telephone poles
-
W isn't the best tactic. It works, but a good looper will always waste more of the killer's time than a W holder, and people should strive to be good loopers. Why would BHVR tell people to do braindead crap?
-
Spirit Fury
"Ok so I did what I was supposed to do, but he got a free hit anyway"
Don't think it should be nerfed or anything, it just annoys me cause it rewards playing like a dumbass.
-
It is a dishonorable and cowardly way to play. I wouldn't mind if it was changed, but I also know that she's not truly OP.
-
"Clown is braindead OP since the buff"
-Nea, referring to the buff that removed the self-slow on his bottle throws
-
You're not the first. Shard farmers already did that.

I don't really know what the relevance of gaming journalists is, so moving on from that...
How do you know the arguments aren't reasonable if you react so strongly to the mere concept of the discussion? Aren't you worried you might be over-correcting and risking missing a real problem because you won't even entertain the mere possibility of one existing?
It's not possible that this topic is creating a real problem. Everyone who's played killer for 3 matches knows a P3 Claudette blends in really well.
People making an argument are just doing it to sate their crusader complex
-
@jesterkind said:
Where's the harm in just discussing this, even if we quickly come to the conclusion that it's probably not a problem? I don't see why so many people are reacting so strongly to the mere idea of discussing this topic at all, it seems perfectly reasonable to at least hear out the arguments in good faith.
Because the people willing to make these arguments are the opposite of reasonable, and might attract the attention of gaming journalists
