And i have said it also 1.3 billion times. The game would be in a much healthier state if they stopped balancing for kills and instead balanced around chases and hooks.

The problem is, that the current state of the game means that it is not POSSIBLE at a high level to win without some degree of tunneling. (I.E. focusing 2 survivors out). Because the game is simply not balanced in a way that allows 4 survivors to be alive for anything more than a few minutes, or the killer will not be able to outpace the survivors on the gens, no matter how much pressure they exert. With the exception of nurse and blight, who can end chases extremely quickly.

Playing for hooks is only fun for the survivor

Tunneling was always possible, but DS/Unbreakable made the strategy not as effective as it is today.

On top of that, gens used to be 80 seconds. You either pressure gens or you most likely lost the game due to faster toolboxes, faster genspeed and the already called DS. Tunneling a survivor out took to long in relation of how fast a game could have gone if a killer was focusing on only 1 survivor.

And last but not least, killers were following more likely a moral code. Tunneling was frowned upon back then, now it is common. This is very likely due to role models doing it live on stream. A very talented DBD streamer who used to play in a more friendly way in the past is now a hard core tunneler. Especially since MMR is in play.

Thank god DS/UB isn't around because I was sick to death of survivors doing generators in my face with a safety bubble

  • I've always called those addons pink and have wondered if I'm colorblind because everyone else says that this CLEARLY PINK item is red

  • How is this the most unbearable meta ever when tunneling has always been possible? we don't even have camping anymore. Did you play VS old camper Twins?

  • 500 billies in a row does things to a man

  • I play both roles roughly 50/50 every day and I enjoy both for the most part. Survivors coming here on the forums to throw their hands up and lament the state of their games are usually people that don't play killer ever. Playing killer makes you good at survivor; when you observe a survivor doing something that annoys you as killer, you will put that tactic in the memory bank and pull it out in your next survivor game.

But one thing I *will* say is a big negative about the survivor experience is that the overly-oppressive anti-loop killers suck the fun out of the role. The chase is the most thrilling part of the game and killers like Knight and Dudeflinger that just force downs completely ruin the game.

Risk reward. Survivors have to deal with it, why not killers?

oh ya ya, I forgot the game is rife with double standards. My bad.

Risk reward is running Blood Echo incase they are Sprint Burst users

Agree, but yeah I agree it’s weird they can see your items, even if it can be last minute swapped. It just makes the survivor feel like they have to have a preplanned ahah gotcha moment, which breeds a toxicity to it.

Franklin's would be the most useless perk in the world if we couldn't see items

I didn't say it was or wasn't a problem - Just to note though, don't forget almost all killers are faster than survivors even with MFT and it's 3% speed. I rarely saw top MMR killers struggle against MFT if I'm honest, but that's separate to the point I was trying to convey. MFT was in the game for like what... 2 months? so time to remove... ok.

I'm suggesting that Devs look at survivor perks and are like, "hey lets just gut it completely" -... DS, DH, MFT, and on the cards Adrenaline (the last remaining "good perk" imo which only activated once and you have to get to end game)... Yes 4 players running Adren sucks that's fair. But it takes a while to get there...

What I'm suggesting with the statement of "consistent tent middle finger to survivors" is the aforementioned perks for survivors get ripped apart whilst killer perks like STBFL stayed untouched for years, and even when it's changed its like... the smallest change. Here we are with Ultimate Weapon still months away from being reviewed (strong perk for me).

Thana wasn't nerfed for years and was overbearing on at least 4 killers - it was a poorly designed perk for legion/plague - that's it. The rest didn't matter. And yes... months away from sloppy being reworked... that should have been fixed ages ago.

How often do I 3 gen as killer... only when the survivors made it so.. like they did the gens on one side of the map so I would take advantage of it... But the 5% / gen tap removal has been big for me so it's even better (i.e. buff to killer, nerf to survivor).

I would have to kick 3 gens 24 times to get blocked out of my 3 gen... killers only doing that if they're sweating.

Question then, how many have seen the gens blocked (by the killers own doing) since the change. When I play survivor, I've only ever seen a blocked gen for a killer (8 kicks) maybe once since it was implemented. But I've certainly seen a killer benefit from the 5% and gen tap at least 100 times.

    1. What is your issue with STBFL, a perk that is useless on high-tiers and good on low-tiers?
    2. I hit the gen kick limit every game if I run surge or eruption
    3. Even at max stacks, thana was just a little bit of slowdown. 16% isn't a lot.

If these survivor perks were so overpowered then it would show in the stats right? Yet the data says the kill rate back then was around 50%, which by defintion is much more balanced than now. It seems like anything that could give a challenge to killers is seen as problematic by killer mains and the devs. Survivors are just supposed to flop over and be fodder for a killer's fun.

Why do you think it's ok for a perk to make someone run equal speed to the killer?

They don't show in the stats because 110 speed killers aren't very popular, but there shouldn't be a perk that completely neuters them just by having it.

  • "With the consistent middle finger to survivors (removing MFT, stopping gen regression, mangled/haemorrhage changes etc)"

If you don't think MFT was a glaring problem, I don't know what to tell you dawg.

The other two things you said had flipside nerfs for killer that you conveniently ignored. Killers can no longer 3-gen, and thana got nerfed + sloppy butcher is on the roadmap for a nerf.

  • It varies

Swamp is deadzone hell, I always lose on survivor and win on killer

Gideon is pallet hell, I always win on survivor and lose on killer

Those are my 2 biggest gripes

  • This is nowhere near as bad as the decisive crutch/unbreakable meta in 2019. People just did gens in my face because they knew they had health insurance and I couldn't productively do anything about them. I either ate a stun or let them get up, either way I lose time.

Though with decisive on the road map, I'm worried that type of survivor is gonna come back.

    For who?

Trapper: Sure, but he's also Trapper, he's kinda bad everywhere.

Wraith: Nah, The Game is alright for him.

Billy: Maybe? You can shred pallets fast, but his mobility isn't useful.

    Nurse: C'mon.

Hag: Yeah, it's bad for Hag.

Doctor: Kinda? Skillcheck Doc goes hard. So does fast detonation.

Huntress: No orbitals but pallets are a death trap.

    Bubba: It's not horrible.

    Pig: Can be fine.

Freddy: All maps are bad for the Fredster.

    Clown: Yup, it's bad.

    Spirit: Nah, she's okay here.

    Legion: He's great here.

    Plague: She's fine.

    GF: He's good here.

Demogorgon: He's okay. Kinda the same as Bubba and Billy.

    Oni: Pretty bad here.

    Deathslinger: He's okayish. Easy shots.

PH: He's good here. Easy hits

Blight: Same as Bubba. He's okay.

Twins: They're good there. Easy slugs.

Trickster: is okay there. Easy knives.

    Nemesis: Good there. Easy hits.

    Pinhead: Good. Easy Box.

Artist: She's fine, bird at loop.

Sadako: Unknown after her 9000th rework. She used to be good there.

    Wesker: bad map.

Knight: Good map. Small and Guards are brutal on multiple floors.

SM: 3 gen ouch. Area denial ouch.

Singularity: Meh. Not good or bad.

Alien: Good map. Easy tail hits over pallets.

Chucky: Once again, easy hits over pallets. Or under, rather

You play up the usefulness of Plague, Demogorgon and Pig. If the survivors don't cleanse, plague gets no downs because she's M1. Demogorgon's pallet shredding isn't as good as the chainsaw killers and the sightlines aren't long enough for good shreds. Pig, despite it being HER map, actually sucks here and is a straight downgrade from Ghostface because her surprise attacks only net her 1 health state, and the small size of the map means it's easy for survivors to get the trap off.

Don't know if you already knew or just guessed right, but my main is Clown and it gives me an aneurysm to play on this map against semi-competents because my power is useless if the pallet takes up the entire hallway and I can't game it.

Most of the comp community and a large group of people did a test where they 12 hooked people and didn't tunnel or camp but ran strong add-ons and obviously they are in the top MMR bracket so they have good game sense and they all won at about 90-93% of the games.... It can also just be shown how killers go on hundreds of game win streaks without having to camp or tunnel. Even The top comp squads haven't even broken the 400 win streak mark as survivor.

Um....aura perks arent all the time they have activation requirements.... distortion you just run and dont have to do jack and you get value from it, aura perks you dont just get value from you need to either hook, kick a gen or be in chase and have a set thing happen to activate said aura.

What is your suggestion for Distortion

Then why is it so easy for almost everyone I know to either 12 or 9 hook?

They're playing against bads because it's mathematically way out of the killer's favor to have a 12-hook game. That relies entirely on survivor incompetence.

  • Because this game is monetized like a free-to-play MMO even though we pay out the ass for all the content

  • Unfavorable because it takes a long time to traverse is one thing

Unfavorable because there's like 4 pallets blocking the hallway is another

    The Huge Problem In Question:

The Game isn't bad for killers, it's bad for killers that rely on bloodlusting and actually requires good macro.

Nurse, Blight, Ghostface, Spirit, Wesker are all decent on this map.

"just play a killer you don't want to play" isn't balance, my main shouldn't be unplayable on this pile of pallets

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3661221#Comment_3661221

The Game is an absolutely tiny map with two stories and limited sightlines.

To OP, use that to your advantage. M2 Killers don't care too much about the map and a lot of M1 Killers have stealth or slowdown. Sucks if you wanna play Clown though.

It should just be a one-story indoor map like Lery's. I'd rather have a big map any day than a tiny one packed to the gills with god pallets. It's not as bad when I play Bubba because I can create a dead zone, but there shouldn't be a map that gimps half the killer cast and I shouldn't be afraid to queue up as Clown because of the possibility I'll be sent to this map (which has been happening every day)

  • The problem is that the killer can't afford a 12-hook game. If you distribute hooks even and be Mr. Nice guy, you will be absolutely clowned on

If they flat out make the survivor un-tunnelable, killer would be such an uphill battle it wouldn't be worth playing.

Referencing a video made "years ago" for a live service game that has had at least 25 major updates since the video came out is not a great way to try and prove your point lol. Don't worry, you most likely wouldn't have to play 100 games anyway because the 100% escape rate would probably prove to be incorrect around the 10th-20th game mark

What do you think my escape rate would be if I used this build regularly

We can track our own individual data on spreadsheets. Or even use our own memories!

Also it's funny that you said "100% escape rate guaranteed with urban + key," and I suggested playing 100 games to prove it, then we talked about how often you'd have stacks, wouldn't have stacks, and now you want me to play 1 game to "prove" your original point. These goalposts are on wheels.

In fact, why are you even bothering to try tearing down this build? It's so god damn easy, and it's not deniable if you just put the perks on and play. Why all this dancing around? I know it works, I've experienced it and I've watched it be done. Why are you fighting it so hard? Just go do it and witness this obvious hole in DBD's design.

I'm obviously not going to play 100 games with a coward build because that would be an extremely poor use of my time. I work a full time job and I would rather not spend every evening for a week proving my point to some guy on the forums. I have played with this build before and it's actually hard not to survive, Turjay made a video doing the same thing a couple years ago showing how stupid keys are as a concept.

True, we don't know our exact MMR, which is why I've been saying ranges this entire time. I and the people I play with have data that is quite the contrary regarding distortion, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. But back to the main point: no, urban evasion + key does not equal a 100% escape rate.

The people you play with have data? do you play with Mathieu Cote? Why aren't you loading into dbd right now with a coward loadout and a key to prove me wrong?

Blight, nurse, wesker, huntress, spirit, demo, deathslinger, knight, chucky. (to name a few)

Just because you're playing an m1 killer with no chase ability doesn't mean everyone else is as well. All these killers can easily get 2 hits on a survivor within 30 seconds, even with all the tiles you listed in play. And I never said that your MMR was bad, just that we were in different ranges.

All the things I'm saying are things you can try for yourself and find they're true. You won't run out of distortion stacks, and you will make it through the hatch if you bring a key and play like a coward. This has been demonstrated on youtube as well but I'm struggling to find the video.

You don't know your MMR and I don't know mine, but I bet if you used Distortion for 10 games in a row, you would run out of stacks maybe once. It's extremely rare because this perk is currently overtuned. Don't know what they were thinking.

  • @Valuetown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3661058#Comment_3661058

Like I said before, MMR is most likely why you have games where you're full up on distortion charges and I'm not. Distortion takes 30 seconds to recharge 1 token. In the range that I play, if a killer takes 30 seconds in chase on average, they've already lost the entire game. That's why most killers are able to end chase before that time is up. (Not even mentioning threading tiles while looping, so you won't be in the terror radius for very long anyway) If you're able to in most games recharge 1 or even 2 tokens on a gen because the killer cannot catch a survivor, our gameplay experiences are 100% different based on MMR, which is absolutely fine, but we're comparing granny smith apples to honeycrisp apples here. Not exactly incompatible like apples to oranges, but there's a difference for sure.

30 seconds is an easy goal, that is the length of a chase when a survivor just runs forward and presses no buttons. Now consider shack, main bulding loops, and pallet gyms. but sure it's because my MMR is bad and yours is good.

  • @Valuetown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3661019#Comment_3661019

I don't know what passive bonus you're referring to, unless by passive bonus you mean the perk doing what it says it's supposed to do which is blocking aura and scratch marks, and what you meant was that you don't try to hide when using it, but you're still using the perks active effects as intended? With the way you phrased that, I have no idea.

Also no, using your hyperbolic comment to reiterate your own gameplay experience that it is possible to run out of charges to prove my point on distortion is not the same as 🤓 taking an idiom at face value lol

But at the end of the day, it's still possible to find, hook, and tunnel a survivor running this modified build of distortion + urban evasion + calm spirit + left behind (my addition) + key before the survivor has a chance to use it for its intended purpose. If you run 100 games with this build and play it how you want, I have a hunch you'll find that you won't have a 100% escape rate before even half of the games are done.

How is my gameplay experience not the experience of every distortion user ever? you're doing a gen while someone's getting chased and you regen 1-2 stacks for free, it's really really easy to keep your stacks. The killer would have to be stacking aura reading to a counter-intuitive level to nullify distortion. It's currently way too easy to regen stacks with this perk. Claudetting is by far the easiest and most reliable way to get out, try it for yourself. Survivor is a cake walk if all you genuinely care about is escaping.

  • @Valuetown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3660993#Comment_3660993

    1) Addons with aura read exist, as I said. Lethal, bbq, glowing concoction huntress would like to say hello. Don't forget the S tier killers that don't need slowdown: blight, nurse, spirit. Besides, all you really need is pain res or pop for killers that aren't D tier as adequate slowdown in most lobbies, giving killers much more room to run anything else they want. It's also dependent on the MMR ranges for sure, so your experience and my experience with aura read abundance are probably completely different.

    2) This doesn't really mean anything because I don't know how many games you played this week. You could've played 4 games all week and ran out of stacks in only that one game. So 25% of the time you ran out. Also like I said, you could follow the killer around doing nothing but regaining charges, but that's not really setting your team up for success, and it's not really a useful data point in determining the frequency in which distortion runs out of charges in an average game.

Also I highly doubt you're not being caught in the games you play on survivor. You use distortion every day but are still getting hooked right? Just like how slapping on urban evasion doesn't prevent you from being found, which is why you won't have a 100% escape rate if you run a key with urban evasion.

    3) "I think I ran out of stacks once this whole week" and "distortion doesn't run out" are mutually exclusive. You can't have both.

I play multiple survivor games every day. I use distortion for its passive bonus, I'm not a coward. It regens a stack every time someone just so happens to be running the killer near my gen, and killers including myself would rather have more direct bonuses that result in easy downs or gen regression than seeing an aura occasionally.

and your last response is like hearing the phrase "money talks" and going "akshually that's impossible"

  • Killers don't deserve to see all survivors all the time without a counter

They should just make tokens regenerate in chase

  • @Valuetown said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3660958#Comment_3660958

    1) Considering I listed 6+ perks and killers can only run 4, yes that's correct. But my point was that if a killer is running lethal, they tend to run another perk or addon that gives them aura read such as bbq or gearhead, so 2 of your distortion perks are usually gone before you're even seen by the killer.

    2) Literally just wrong. For this to be the case for you, you are following the killer around the map with bond as they're chasing someone else. I have had distortion depleted as survivor and have depleted survivor's distortions many many times. For you to say that it never happens is literally just wrong lol

    3) Calm Spirit "counters" ultimate weapon. The killer can still find you via other methods as listed above.👍️

    1. No one uses more than 2 detection perks, it's a waste of good slowdown slots
    2. I use distortion every day on jeff, my main survivor, and I think I ran out of stacks once this whole week. stupid easy.
    3. again, distortion doesn't run out

No I get my ass kicked plenty. You are just the first killer on these forums to ever admit that they struggle to consistently get 4ks. So that was a breath of fresh air.

I could care less about the escapes. A few times a gaming session is necessary to keep it fun, but I just want to play. Have a chase, do a gen, search a chest, get a save and a heal, then whatever happens at the end is ok. I also don't want to watch a teammate just get tunneled from the jump either. Perhaps my mindset doesn't fit with current DBD. Which seems to be win at all cost, ignore that the other players are also human beings and do whatever it takes to achieve your end goals.

And for what, to do it all over again? And again? When does just the thrill of the micro become more fun and rewarding then the results of the match?

Killers can't have fun with the micro. If you goof off for 30 seconds you're losing a generator and the survivors will clown on you. Killers have to be oppressive to avoid being made into youtube content.

I'm sorry, you're not getting 100% escape rate with that build if the killer has any aura read. Even if you run distortion, lethal, bbq, nowhere to hide, friends til the end, ultimate weapon, etc will counter everything you're trying to do, and those perks are extremely popular. Good luck using your key when you're geting proxy camped and tunneled because you will eventually be found.

    1. you can play 100 games and never see a killer with all of those perks at the same time
    2. Distortion never runs out of stacks, don't pretend otherwise

I do play killer, and have played a bunch of killer in the past. In fact I started off as a pretty ruthless cutthroat killer back in 2018 range, I guess. I'd tunnel you right out of the game. I eventually became more of a survivor main. The simple truth is, if you want to play killer, using all the unfun ( for the other side) tactics available to you, you will win much more as killer than as survivor.

I ask , as I always do, and of course expect no response. But do you struggle to consistently win as killer? You say it's more stressful, are you struggling to consistently win as killer?

I am sure you were exaggerating, but I'd love to see your 100% escape rate. I'd be surprised if you could show me a 40% rate in solo q.

Of course I struggle. I main an m1 killer and gens fly even though my chases are short. I have to run slowdown and slug to keep survivors occupied and receive much rage for it, and if you tell me that you have time for a 12-hook game then I know that you're either versing yellow perk noobs or you're lying.

And you or anyone can achieve a 100% escape rate by doing exactly what I said to do. just key and urban evasion. Sure you contributed nothing, but if all that matters to you is escaping, that is a guaranteed escape.

90 seconds is fine, but I'd rather have seen it just get a percentage nerf.

It needs to be adjusted after the healing nerfs.

How do you nerf 4 seconds of extra healing without it being a waste of a perk slot?

  • Even if it did, that would be a very RNG-dependant build

Why would this be important? What means a low level on killer?

They could be scriming a lot or they could simply spend bloodpoints differently.

A friend of mine has P70+ Slinger - and he does not even play this killer at all.

So you admit you don't play killer and call it the side of "easy wins" despite it being 6000x more stressful than survivor. I can bring a key and Urban Evasion around for a 100% escape rate, that's an easy win.
