You're fully missing the point of the thread.
The thread is asking: What is my incentive to stay in the game against a hook camper or tunneller?
Your answer: The killer should tunnel.
That's not an answer. And it's not engaging with what is and has been a legitimate problem. You're too obsessed with retaining the ability to tunnel to consider the other perspective.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3703653#Comment_3703653
None of that is going to stop the tunnelling though, is it?
The OP is riled up about a non-issue. The scenario they gave us was them being resentful of a clever singularity player that outplayed all 4 survivors. I play survivor every day, I know how it works, I know the gameplay loop. Because of that, I recognize what actual hard tunneling is and am able to differentiate it from a good killer playing smart. Otzdarva already came up with the best anti tunnel proposition and everyone hated it. Killer players hated it because it gave an inch and they're worried the balance team will take a mile, and suvivor players hated it because they want to be immune to their own mistakes.

And would've denied the unhook, while giving the singularity time to walk back to hook. Lose-lose scenario.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3703640#Comment_3703640
What should be done about game one?
Nerf tunnelling. If the killer has no incentive to tunnel, they'd opt to hook the downed survivor instead of sprinting back to hook to tunnel and/or deny unhook.
The killer played the game to win and it's framed as some kind of injustice
No, what's being framed as an injustice is that this survivor player is saying 'I don't see a reason to continue playing if killers do everything in their power to diminish gameplay'. It's the killers once again getting their knickers in a twist over someone saying 'tunnelling/camping is bad for gameplay'.
This is exactly the kind of sanitization of killer gameplay that should be avoided. Singularity had one survivor hooked, chased another, checked his cam, saw someone rotating in for the save and snowballed into maximum pressure. This is high macro awareness on the killer's part and his reward was the win.
But the survivor main proposition is instead to punish that player's good gamesense because it was interpreted as a toxic offense. The post is a soft admission to wanting the killer to be railroaded into bot-like gameplay and to place a hard cap on the ability to build pressure.

Game 1 is a survivor going for an unhook while the killer is chasing someone else. This is now considered a 'massive misplay'.
Killers are just getting worse, aren't they?
What should be done about game one? Should the killer be disallowed from interrupting an unhook? If you catch someone rotating in for the save, is it unsportsmanlike to stop them?

- Zombies are RNG and can be annoying. You are trying to finish gen and suddenly zombie lady comes to visit you and refusese to go away until you drop a pallet on her. Also getting hit because zombie is just behind corner a wall standing without a sound warning mid chase is very fun! /s
- Nemesis players usualy like to tunnel the hell out of anyone they catches first.
- His power is just pre-drop pallet or get hit and hold W.
His power isn't pre-drop or hold W, it's duck and 360.

How the heck do you not enjoy fighting Nemesis?

His killrate is 60% though, that's what the developers aim for. So he's fine.
can't tell if sarcasm but he has a 60% killrate because like 2 people play him

So a killer runs two slowdowns that only happen after successful hooks + two info perks, and that's a huge problem?
This is truly the weenie hut JR of killer metas and people are framing it as unbeatable -

I don't see the humor in someone indicating sexual assault.
Sorry, but my understanding of humor end there.
Ban every survivor that T-bags and there would be no survivors left playing the game
You're reading too far into it -
Your team is hurt more by you not taking chases, hooks are spread unevenly and people die faster

I feel ya, I switched off of Clown to play Doc for the first time a couple weeks ago and… Got the exact same PC p100s that I get on Clown.

The most common type of cheater I get is the "crash the server if the killer is winning" cheater. I generally am not confident enough in my perception to know if someone is speed/wallhacking. Even still, I've seen more cheaters recently than I ever did a couple years ago.

Except that reds were always paired with greens, because they're within 6 ranks. We've been over this.
Ranks were great for reds, giving them easy games, but crap for mid-level players.
You were obviously red, so it's no wonder you want to go back to stomping noobs.
Rainbow matches only happened when I played at like 4 AM and the queue was borked. There was a shortage of killer players because in 2019 there was a lot of busted ######### that scared people away.
I should mention too that I was simultaneously red rank survivor and killer. -

You need a loose MMR system in order for it to work as a casual game. Which is what we have.
You can't have a casual game if newbies are paired with pros all the time.
Newbies could hang out in green ranks, playing every day and hitting red was the agreement that you were ready to throw down with the big boys
-
The killer should walk to the corner of the map for 1 minute after a hook or he should be banned

A good thing it doesn't exist anymore?
A good thing that it wasn't treated as a comp game
Sick of BHVR flip-flopping about whether this is a party game or a competitive fighting game. Reminds me of how Facebook tries to dodge lawsuits by simultaneously claiming to be a public and private entity.
If this is a comp game, then the bloodweb should just be a loadout screen and there should be a draft with a killer/map/perk banlist
If this is a party game, there should be no SBMM period. -

The only conclusions that can be drawn from this are:
A. You only knew pro players and full time SWFers, putting you squarely in the only skill bracket that benefitted from ranks.
B. Ranks were an ineffective system because apparently everyone was at the top anyway.
The answer is B and that's a good thing

Yeah I made a thread regarding his tantrums being far too long, as Bubba is already not the strongest killer and the tantrums will punish less experienced players far more than skilled Bubba enjoyers.
But to my surprise there are people who seem to think this is perfectly fine… because Bubba OP, I guess?
I want the tantrum to stay because that's how I taunt people
-
@Seraphor said:
Please no. SBMM may be flawed but the old ranked system was terrible.
Unless you were a god-tier player, or always playing SWF or Nurse/Blight, you would be perpetually stuck in green/purple ranks. Because pips were too easy to gain a lower ranks, and then you hit the wall.
This meant you were almost always matched with red rank players, because matchmaking would pull players from 6 ranks above/below you, and rank 1s could only be matched downwards. Never able to gain enough pips to climb higher, never able to lose enough to get fairer games, unless you intentionally smurfed by losing 50 games in a row, or by taking a 4 month break from the game.
The old ranked system was great for matching rank 1 players with weaker opponents they could easily destroy. (Hence the whole 'win streak' fad) It was terrible for the average 'mid-rank' player, solo survivors, and M1 killers.
And then you had the monthly rank reset, which made the game unplayable for about 2 weeks when everyone played super sweaty to rank up again.
Everyone I know who played the game regularly made it to red ranks

More proof that killers either play this game muted or it's a skill issue. If you can't hear survivors running that short distance away or see scratch marks that are in your face, that's a skill issue.
Even if I see the guy and chase him, the downed survivor will go under a pallet and become unhookable until i have fully downed the BP user
and we're JUST talking about BP in conjunction with Flashbang, leaving out its synergies with toolboxes, breakout and odd bulbs. The perk is a SWF wet dream -
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3698961#Comment_3698961
I do play enough killer.
For a flash grenade to achieve a save, it must be thrown between 1 and 1.5 seconds after the killer's pickup animation begins. Background player gives a survivor 100% haste, meaning 8 m/s. 1.5 seconds max would mean a survivor can successfully save from 12 meters away at most. If a killer can't do a quick 12 meter radius check around them if they anticipate background player in play, that's on the killer, and they don't deserve the hook for not doing their due diligence.
That only applies assuming no line-of-sight on the killer. They'll pre-run somewhere you've already checked before pickup
-
@Valuetown said:
The whole point of flashbang is to counter the previously uncounterable "shove your face into the wall" tech. It is absolutely healthy for the game, as it requires a survivor to put 45 charges into a generator, or 45 seconds they MUST be doing gens solo (co-op progress messes with the charge per second rate).
If a killer cannot win chases and get downs within 45 seconds, especially with the plethora of perks now available to them that block gens (corrupt, grim embrace, dead man's switch, etc.), not even mentioning killer abilities and chase perks, that is a skill issue, and crying about flashbangs isn't going to get them anywhere. "Well flashbangs aren't the problem, background player is!!" Like other people have posted, if you're allowing a background player to stun you, you didn't do your due diligence as killer and check the immediate area, as there is only a 1 second window for them to get the flashbang to work. It is extremely easy to counter.
I've said multiple times that lightborn is an unhealthy perk for the game. A perk should not be allowed to fully counter an aspect of the game. Even distortion has its limits, with its charges being fairly limited and will run out if a killer runs 2 aura read perks (lethal + bbq, lethal + gearhead, etc).
And before any killer mains want to lie to me, Calm Spirit does not counter Ultimate Weapon the same way Lightborn counters flashlights. Calm spirit nerfs totem cleansing speed, and the blindness (which is very effective, despite what killers want you to believe) still applies to the survivor. Lightborn actually goes above and beyond and reveals the survivors aura to the killer for multiple seconds. They are not the same.
"didn't do your due diligence and check the immediate area"
You do not play enough killer my dude, BP users can and do come in for the save from way (way) outside a reasonable distance to be checking -
@WolfyWood said:
Not mandatory.
You just want what is essentially basekit lightborn which would render an entire subset of items and perks useless.
Blinds are supposed to be a threat.
I want BP to be 150% so SWFs can't activate noclip and fly into my face from like 30 meters away

It seems to be flashbangs are literally impossible to dodge nowadays
They are, you can be hit with a flashbang while facing a wall. The survivor has to mis-time it to fail.

It's pretty much just a consecutive hooking thing, and ultimately problem in "kills" itself
Forcing a 12-hook game means killer simply doesn't have time to win against high-level SWFs

I don't really care technicality, just wishes to NOT have to tunnel and win in reasonable manner
Tunneling isn't a perk or power that can be nerfed and buffed on a whim, you're talking about how the killer uses their WASD and mouse, their free will as a player. It's a very heavy thing to touch.

Getting 3 hook 1 kill isn't any better than getting 4 escape, even 2 kill with endgame generally feels a loss for killer
So no, 6 hooks or 2 kills doesn't really matter, it's only a win when they win, and thus as long as they can win reasonably with hooks, they wouldn't care if they get less 1k 2k matches
Actually nvm, disregard me
I don't want to have this conversation about why or why not the game should be turned into a participation trophy playground. If that ever happened I would just play a better PVP game. -

The two can be brought to the same end. Unlock basekit Moris after 8 hooks with no kills. That way Killer can go for the cool kills by getting 8 hooks, and brag about their greater victory matches.
That is essentially a forced 12-hook game and the time table of generators would need to be balanced for that

Winning game is a prize, kills by itself really isn't
If that was the what everyone is looking for, rancor would be in literally every loadout, but nope
The first part of your comment is an oxymoron because kills are the win condition
You cannot brag about your hook count to the 4-man that just got out through the gate, they won. The killer playerbase would plummet in a hook-oriented meta because they are playing towards crap no one cares about. I would rather go play tekken because there is no disputing who won. -

Doesn't matter when bleedout is actually punished by the game, kind of
I have no idea how that is a proper response but good job dodging my question
Let's get this straight: Killer players, by and large, don't load into the game and say "Oh boy! I'm gonna get some hooks! :D" They load in to get kills because this is a pvp game and kills are the prize -

Actually, killers want to chase, down, and hook without having to sweat all the time
So no, hook oriented gameplay by itself is hardly a problem, just that gen time would be like 3 minutes each
What is the name of the role the survivors are facing?

tbh it’s BHVR and the community’s fault. Had they opted to make the game hook-oriented, none of this madness would have taken place.
"hook-oriented" gameplay only feels good for survivors
Killers want to kill -
Not often, mostly just Chuckies and Weskers
-
- Misfits skin update like what we got with Iron Maiden
- Let us change our lobby screen (BHVR have made a million alternate lobbies never to be used again)
- Visual update focused on horror atmosphere
- Alternate moris
-
So that you can't use a map offering and repeatedly run to the unhookable zone

A surrender button is a better option than giving everyone free unbreakable + soulguard

- Swf isn't going anywhere and no matter what you do its always going to be stronger. As for the wiggle meter just hook the survivor people play sabo squads all the time and still win.
- Even before the buff I was still doing the exact same amount of saving I am now nerfing it doesn't make it any harder.
- 3.You dont need a surrender button there's perks to counter slugging and playing well counters it also. People already kill themselves on hook imagine the out cry when people do it on the floor.
This is my favorite type of response complaining about things that arent even broken. Im sorry youre struggling in the game but these "issues" wont result in anything changing in the game.
- I didn't say I wanted SWF to go anywhere
- Yeah I get it, you're the king. Background Player is still overtuned
- I'm far from the only person asking for a surrender button, that's a survivor complaint
-
Here's a few genuine problems influencing the background player meta right now:
1. Wiggle meter never regresses. This is the core issue with fighting a SWF at the moment and it creates a lot of situations where the survivor is unhookable. It often ends up that the only solution is to let that guy die on the floor.2. Background Player is overtuned. This point has been talked about a billion times and it's pretty obvious that 200% is too generous of a movement speed. Flashbang saves can reliably be done every time someone gets downed starting from the very edge of the TR.
3. Survivors have no surrender button. The survivor side of this issue is that it leads to 4-minute bleedouts. Sometimes it's done out of toxicity and others because the killer is wary of flip flop/boil over/power struggle. If a button popped up that just said "[Space] Die" after 45 seconds, people could get on with their day much easier without taking a DC penalty.
