Well you get very close last summer then when everyone thought the resident evil was going to be Lady Dimitrescu.
Unless Romania is not enough slavic and too much latin for your taste.
People thought it, but that wasn't the plan, and it didn't happen in the end - so why does it matter?
Also no, Romania wouldn't have been bad, and i never stated it not to have been. I do say either Eastern European or Slavic, the latter being that Russia is used as a token for that specifically (especially with the Baba Yaga skin), but a country that is EE and not Slavic, would be fine too.

Why do you even feel represented by it? That’s entirely something you decided to do.
your country/culture is just currently not represented. There are many others as well such as almost all of Africa, Australia, Everything Asian but Japan, China, South Korea, almost all of South America etc pp.
Baba Yaga was not chosen to represent you or your culture, it’s not exclusive to your culture as well, it’s also part of Russia and that one happens to be more commonly known to the rest of the world. that doesn’t mean Eastern Europe is now represented as a whole by this skin and won’t get anything else.
Because generally so to speak - Eastern Europe hardly has any media exposure, and any attempts at such are usually done by slapping a Russian in our faces.
If i were to ask for an Eastern European or Slavic character, many will jump the gun and say Huntress is already in the game, why? Because she is a token that is being used for that region. As i've also said, the only reason that there is such a strong association with Russia to Baba Yaga or Eastern Europe is because of the fact that media refuses to give representation to that region through a different nationality. Which is an issue in itself, and I believe deserves to be highlighted.

Clearly I have upset you but so many Huntress's are embracing in the new Huntress, and well I would find that embracing but so many, find so much negativity just to post about it :) I am not trying to disregard, another excuse and forth words of phrase in this world, perhaps if you feel that bad then don't play Huntress, the devs aren't going to remove it, not sure what this is going to do? it's been making a thread for thread sake, so well and I gave my fee back, so many are so offended by literally anything these days it's hard what is actually serious and what is just becoming a thread. But please enjoy, don't use Huntress and just perhaps make not a thread if no one can leave opinions, :)
I am ALLOWED to voice my displeasure with BHVR's actions. There is a reason that a forum exists. For FEEDBACK.

Right. Because not any of us have ever lost or been killed by any other Country. When did it become such a crime someone trying to e,brace anothers culture if they dont get it 9 to a T dont have a go, clearly your issues are further and deeper then a costume on BHVR nd clearly should be addressed away from this. Please don't bring this into a clearly game based forum, if they get it right or not least know they are not aiming to hurt people. If you feel this strongly about it then go further and beyond BHVR.
Or how about you get out of my thread?
I told you, if you find no issue with it, good. But myself, and clearly other users feel conflicted by it - and believe it or not, we are allowed to feel conflicted by a lazy attempt to 'show' our culture. Stop trying to disregard the feelings of others on something that isn't personal to you, or isn't continually done throughout media.
We are allowed to criticise and give feedback which is why the forum even exists - so if you truly have nothing productive to say, then just leave.

No.
If you are fine with it - good for you, I'm not fine however being represented by the country that occupied mine, and killed many of my people whilst trying to deprive us of our culture.

Yes, that isn't a Russian as using Russia to represent Slavic or Eastern European countries is possibly the WORST decision to make, and worst kind of representation.

You ask for a killer that is related with your country and cultural heritage, the same way another person from another country can do the same.
I didnt ask for my country, i didnt even specify which country i am from. I am asking for a killer from a region in the world that represents the culture of multiple countries - from a country that isn't literally having political and historical conflict with the majority of those countries.
Please direct me where I specified which country im from and asking for that country to be represented.

@Zolfo16 said:
The national representation is related with the markets the game is sold in.
And you should not count the killers from videogames or movies, their nationality do not depends from the staff.
In the last killers they tried to diversify countries but you can't pretend to have 1 killer for each country.
Why is your argument about every country when i never stated every country.. I said Eastern Europe, and Slavic countries. That is an array of countries that are in either category.

I do think they had a way to big focus on American characters. But they do have great variety overall, and it does not seem like they are stopping now.
i wouldn’t count licensed characters btw, as they are using obviously well known characters from pop culture.
also… Is Huntress even confirmed to be Russian? Genuine question, i don’t remember if it’s been confirmed from which country she comes..)
and.. they are still limited in the characters, even if every single character was from a different country/descendant, there would be countries/cultures missing. And they shouldn’t just take a list to add new cultures. I would feel more offended by that tbh.
(BTW I am actually with you on the topic, that Baba Yaga could have been represented better because it’s an actual different character like Krampus or Minotaurus; I just found the notion of them representing Eastern Europe via Russian character not fair)
Yes, she is confirmed to be Russian.
Licensed characters still need to be considered, because there are several of other horror franchises from other countries - with many potential characters. If we want to look at licensing, that becomes a separate issue as Pinhead is the FIRST non-american licensed killer (this is not considering Demo, Nemesis and Pyramid Head as they aren't human) - and he came out after 5 years of the game being here.
To be honest, if you just took all the killers that they made X-American, and fully focused on the other nationality, that would make 4 killers that are completely from different countries. Why is it that the nurse has no bibliography of her being in England, fully living in America but sporting Victorian attire? Unless i am stupid, Hag and Doc aren't specified in their ethnicities either as they are assimilated as 'American', with Hag's village holding onto parts of 'their culture' which doesn't seem to be mentioned.
But until they give me a reason to believe that they are actually trying to showcase Eastern Europe, this is their only attempt and it's pretty appalling. Also, i didn't mention the political side of things as a way of 'BHVR MAKE A STAND', but the fact that Russia is our representation despite the conflicts between Russia and several eastern europe countries.. yikes..

i don’t think it’s fair to say they are using Russia to represent Eastern Europe. We may very well get more Eastern European characters later on. And tying a folklore character to current politics/events is also unfair to the origins and the culture of the folklore characters. I mean. BHVR is not supporting Russia here in any way.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2776719#Comment_2776719
It’s literally called the Modern Tales collection, it doesn’t need to be exactly like the origin story. And it’s got not ripped apart by giving Min the outfit. At all. Actually I find it pretty disrespectful that someone thinks in that way, as if Red Riding Hood is owned by the Germans…
And next to it being a red there is also the wolf on the back.
also we got a Gretel cosmetic for Meg (which is interestingly her second cosmetic being tied to Germany…)
How is it not fair to compare if we are going onto 6 years, and not one killer has been that has been released after game-drop has been of Eastern European descent but Huntress - not to mention that in those 6 years, we had SIX american killers drop - not accounting for any other DLCs that are of any other origin (or tied with being American).
We are getting a 3rd Japanese killer, the next killer will probably be American too. It took them 5 years just to explore South America..
How is it NOT fair to criticise them for trying to capitalise and make money off cultures whilst not properly showcasing said cultures, if not being ignorant of them?

The only other time baba yaga is mentioned in a game to my knowledge was tomb raider there isnt much that can be done properly about a folk tale character in a skin. I am actually surprised huntress got the mention rather than hag who is a witch even tho she isnt eastern european.
I'm personally not surprised, as this is what often happens - slap a Russian character in a game, tie them to everything slavic-related and call it a day.
-
@anarchy753 said:
I agree. It's particularly bad that they clearly just made a skin and named it Baba Yaga. Almost none of her well known features are present at all.
Nothing about her is any form of duality like Huntresses mask is. She's known for riding a pot using a broom like an oar. Granted the pot would be hard to implement but at the very least they could have made her axe look more like a broom.
It's literally just a random skin and only named Baba Yaga because nobody knows other Russian monsters.
But that is the issue - instead of attempting to shine some light on folklore that is specifically Russian, they use some from an entire culture that spans several countries and slap it on as Russian...
Could've even put a little chain with her shack that has chicken legs, somewhere on the skin.

Exactly, there is nothing representative of that culture.
Look at how lazy the design of Slinger is.. an IRISH-American killer... whose lore is about being a cowboy.. And the only acknowledgement you get is a skin.. in the rift.
Personally, just find it insulting that they use RUSSIA to represent East Europe/Slavic people when most of these countries genuinely hate or have political issues with Russia, just look at the conflict between Russia and Ukraine right now, like what?

What conclusion? That I did nothing for the whole 10 seconds of the game? I even started doing the gen with her. I don't get what you are trying to say here. It's pretty obvious she got salty about being so oblivious while I dodged the killer, so she tried to ruin the game for me. I don't see any other possible conclusion here.
That you might've been avoiding to do anything productive in the game.
I mean - why hide in a locker if you know the killer is coming? Why not try to escape a alternative way so that you could continue with repairs elsewhere? I would be pretty salty myself if my teammate instead of just running away (which is usually a better indication that a killer is on their way ), just went to hide in a locker.

Why do people think you are reliant on your team in this game? The hatch is a mechanic for a reason. Roach it out, left behind key is the best way to play solo Q imo. Or at least the way you can survive on the most. There's just waaay too many unwinnable games in solo Q.
Literally just tonight I have gone from full meta legacy sweat squads as my teammates, to default blendettes who might have bought the game today. And the Qs are so long I don't even want to dodge the baby lobbies but well of course killer ends up being an ultra sweat TTV who I had to spend like 6 minutes hiding from to get the hatch. We had an AFK, a blendette who twice went down to iron maiden (including in the first 25 seconds of the match starting), and a david who got 2 tapped every chase.
And the killer at the end was like "why didn't you save your team you filthy rat!" "That was so boring!" When he literally slugged for like 6 minutes trying to find me. And it's like wellll yeah I am never winning with that team no matter what I do so I am playing to escape.
So obviously I swing by his steam to give him the big old GG EZ and talk some smack to him in front of his 3 viewers lmao.
Can i ask you, why do YOU think the game is unwinnable in so many ways in Solo Q?
Because the game is designed in a way that demands team-work. The fact that you feel as though you can't win is because you're not capable of communicating with the people that are supposed to be your team. You are voiding parts of the game which are crucial to help the team escape and prioritizing yourself in that regard.

We spawned in that shack, it was the very beginning of the game.
You're still missing the point - the lack of communication might've caused her to jump to a conclusion.

@Junylar said:
Just had a game in soloQ. Started doing a gen with one Cheryl in the shack. Spine Chill goes off, so I go into a locker, while the clueless Cheryl remains on gen. It was Ghostface, he starts stalking her, and she doesn't see him. She gets exposed, runs towards my locker and tries to open it to show to killer I'm there, and then gets downed. Of course the killer doesn't ignore it and accepts the help from the opposite team, like a good sportsmanship-like champ, grabbing me. I guess you can't blame be for DCing here.
The worst part is that such ######### is not addressed by the devs in any way. The problem does not exist in their worldview. Those icons (that probably will eventually get cancelled because it's BHVR) won't do crap against soloQ teammates who only play to ruin other teammates fun. The report system is a post-ironical joke, which stopped being funny 4 years ago: no one is going to record dozens of GiB's of footage and pass the e-bureaucratic hell just for occasional reports which will be ignored anyway. The devs don't see any problem and are not even going to start "working on it™", because two ruling classes of DbD society (killers and SWFs) are not troubled by this. No one ever cares about the third estate of soloQ.
So what can you do when your teammates are enemies more fearsome than the killer, other than leaving the game of course? Is it just the curse of soloQ that will never be lifted?
Honestly, this might've been miscommunication.
The Cheryl might've thought that you were doing nothing, and decided to expose you on that basis. I had a game with a Claudette that was absolutely contributing nothing to the match - and hadn't been chased at all thus far - 1 person dead, me and the other survivor were both on our last hook. We only completed ONE generator at this point. I was doing a generator with her, and then she randomly ran off... to hide behind a tree, keep in mind that the killer wasn't nearby. I was working on the generator for a while, until the killer came. I had done about 60% of the progress myself, whereas the Claud was still hiding behind the same tree. After getting hit, i decided, 'hell nah' and ran over to expose the Claudette that seemingly had been doing this the entire match which is why she wasn't hooked at all but also never completed a generator.
I'm just saying that in a game where you're not allowed to directly communicate with your teammates even though you ARE reliant on your teammates... its a bit of a tough situation

I put about 1.5k hours into killer, and then recently switched to solo queue survivor to learn that side of the game.
I've got about 300 hours so far in survivor, watched a whole lot of YouTube videos on how to loop tiles, and I feel like I've become decent at it. timing myself when I enter a chase, I on average can loop a killer for 40 seconds to 1 min.
BUT, things often snowball out of control, my MMR must be so low that it constantly pairs me with survivors who have double digits in the game with only 2-3 tier 1 perks. I honestly don't blame them, they just don't know the basics of the game at all and I feel like killers have a huge advantage with that even if they are brand new to the game.
I've tried everything, I've tried running directly to the killer at the start of the match in hopes they will do gens, but 9 outa 10 times they don't do enough, or the killer gets fed up and switches targets and snowballs it from there. I've tried just powering through gens as hard as possible, but they go down so fast that I'm often playing medic and spend all match saving them left and right.
in most matches I end up with gold badges or better in chase, saving/healing and gens. my rank has gone up fast, but I feel like my MMR hasn't raised at all. it's really rare I end up not 1st in points unless the killer specifically tunnels me hard out of the game.
At this moment I'm about 20 games in row without an escape. My patience is wearing thin, just feels like a hopeless situation. My only chance I have is when MMR screws up and I'm placed in a lobby with experienced survivors, then the whole aspect the game changes, it's so much fun playing with survivors like that and I actually enjoy the game a lot, but that's so rare and I can't even recall the last time that happened.
please help, I'll take any advice I can get at this point.
To raise your MMR as a survivor, the easiest way is to find a group of people to play with.
Unlike the killer - where you have more control over your game, as a survivor - you are relying on teammates. I've had games where I've ran killers for 2-4 minutes straight, not for ONE generator to pop. I've experienced survivors literally run off and hide for no reason when we were working on a generator together. Experienced other survivors unhooking me exposed (as in not trying to bodyblock a hit from the killer) to the killer with no BT.
Regardless of what people say on the forums - you really are reliant on other people to succeed at your objective (escaping). The best way to guarantee an escape is to play with ppl that will communicate with you, not randoms that are either new/doing challenges or whatever else.

For clarification on the killer stats their kill rates are on the left and their pick rates are on the right.
This honestly shows us nothing - which is so disappointing to receive when considered.
It is just a collation of stats, with no regard for Low/Mid/High MMR, where different killers and playstyles are optimal. Not only this - but there is only ONE killer that shows a real issue which is Twins. Nurse, Huntress, Wraith and Doctor are filtered lower due to the high playrate that they receive - giving them generally more of a chance to fluctuate due to an inconsistency in player skill.
Then you have a decent killer like Cenobite, who has the SECOND lowest play-rate, but because he doesn't have glaring issues, his playerbase is mainly players that invest time into the killer - thus propping him up in his killrate. The only thing that I would say is that this shows he's not an entry-friendly killer, and that he is often than not played by people that are already confident in him. Hag and Freddy both follow this pattern too..
Then you have the kill-inflated killers like Bubba, Artist, Myers, and Trapper - who have high play-rates and kill-rates because of how 'easy' it is to secure killers?

The intent was not to illustrate that the game is anything sided. It was to illustrate that killers have to sweat and impede survivor enjoyment in order to win consistently. Yall are as bad as behavior just looking at numbers without context.
You are missing the context of 'sweat' though.
Or rather, in what context should we mean sweat as he tried killer under different circumstances - which was mean build, nice build and no perks and still managed to sustain positive stats for the killers.

Not to mention both do not have the most recent patch and both are being paid to play this game so they have more time than most.
They are paid to play the game - thus leading them to having MORE time to play the game, and flesh out their perspective on each patch, thus allowing them to collect more statistics from their own matches to back up their views and opinions - this is wrong, because??????

@jinx3d said:
Hex:No One Escapes Death, better known as noed, is a perk that causes all survivors to be exposed once the last generator is done-as long as there is 1 dull totem left on the map. This, on paper, sounds like a very good perk, and it is against players that dont know it exists.
Ive been recently playing a lot of survivor. Noed is in about 5/10 games i play. The killer gets 1 kill with it if theyre lucky, and its usually never me. Keep in mind this is soloq. I play as Mikaela Reid usually. That means in order to get use out of one of the perks i bring (COH), i need to find a dull totem. I do, i bless it, and i cleanse any other totems i see. This just flat out negates noed. No totem to put it on, no noed, so its an easy counter.
"BUT JINX3D", i hear you cry like everyone does on these forums "SOLO Q IS HARD, PEOPLE BARELY DO GENS AND ESPECIALLY NOT TOTEMS"
Then do it yourself. Or just leave. If you know someone is working on the last gen, get close to a gate. Dont wanna deal with noed? leave. Not every game needs to be a 4 man escape, and if youre playing soloq, youre almost definitely NEVER seeing these people again. Plus-its a video game! Losing is a part of the game. If you lost, the killer won, that means they did theyre job. The only changes i would give to noed arent buffs or nerfs, simply changes. Make it so there is some indicator to look out for. Not just saying youre exposed from NOED, something like a loud thunder crash or a glow in the killers eyes to show that they have noed without flat out telling you. This tells you that they have noed, while keeping the surprise factor of it-the part that makes the perk genuinely scary. Also, GIVE A BUILT IN TOTEM COUNTER! We shouldnt need perks to have this. obvious feature
NOED is an awful perk that doesn't work in the current state of the game because it awards poor game-play.
I've just had 3 back to back NOED games, where all the killers were bad at gen/map pressure, and at most had two hooks prior to end-game. In literally all of the games, they down'd 2-3 survivors, but were too greedy for one survivor and that's what let them down in the end.
These killers are being boosted by a bad perk, whilst having no proper skills to match against the survivors that they are playing with.
-
@ChampagnePapi said:
I find this very irritating and then what makes it even more irritating is when the survivor keeps running back to the corner of the map just to make sure I can't hook her. I feel like hooks should respawn quicker because this is annoying.

Killer's time is wroth 4 times as much as there's only one killer and 4 survivors.
So if it takes the killer even 4 seconds to find and extinguish(This includes travel time) a boon totem then it would have given the survivors 16 seconds worth of generator time.
Boons only take 14 seconds so the killer taking even 4 seconds to remove it is time beneficial to the survivors.
because survivors arent pressured time wise 😒

Yeah, and a survivor needs to move away from objective, just to place it.
Takes significantly less time to snuff it than it does to bless it.

All if your points are valid, but I want to point out two things:
1.) Chasing is not the same thing as looping.
2.) Chasing is not a victory condition. It's just one emblem.
Just because something isn't part of a win-condition, doesn't mean that there isn't an intention for the situation to happen.

There are no "anti-loop" killers. There are killers with strong chase powers, that happen to be good against Survivors that attempt to loop. Anti-loop implies that running around the same tile over and over and over and over again was an intended game design that the developers built the game around.
They didn't.
That is why so many survivors get pissy when they can't loop a killer like say, Nemesis. They think they are entitled to a looping playstyle and therefore anything that threatens that is somehow bad design on BHVRs part.
You are tripping, and making the biggest home run stretch i've seen.
Just because looping wasn't an intended tactic to play against killers, it doesn't mean that 5 years from release, the definition and what it takes to play survivor has NOT changed, and the game and it's design has not changed with said changes.
Anti-looping killers EXIST because the definition and what it means to play the game as a survivor has changed over the years, that is why there are also anti-looping perks, and also looping perks.

I haven't played the PTB but from what I've seen from various streamers, she does not seem close in strength to Blight or Nurse. Are they really complaining about how strong she is or is it just how fun she is to go against?
Side note: Why do I see posts about buffing Overcome and nerfing Hex: Pentimento, am I missing something?
She is a very strong killer, I'd argue that her potential exceeds Blight.
She can hit through walls, with unlimited range, and very minimal set-up time, and 3x. That's like pyramid head's power put on steroids. Her base kit also has detection properties.
I think that whilst it's really easy to make claims now, I think many people are still learning her and not playing optimally enough to dismiss her as not strong.

hey,
there have been many threads posted about this totem perk and I'm not saying that all survivors are too lazy to make totems, because that's just a bad statement and doesn't help anyone. The only real reason many players complain about Noed is because they lost a game because of this perk. There is no other explanation for this and it doesn't matter what justifications come from the players involved. In principle, it's always the same.
But there are also moments when the game is very tight and the survivors just don't have time to look for all the totems. Especially when someone uses a strong killer with 3 slowdown perks on a map with very well hidden totems. ( Meanwhile there are very many tools to find totems, no matter how well they are hidden ) However, I would like to point out the following points, which are often ignored by survivors. ( I play both sides myself and can therefore judge this well )
1. the killer plays the whole time only with 3 Perks before the Exitgates are activated.
2. noed can be completely deactivated by survivors.
3. for example, if the killer is not lucky enough to get many survivors before the Exitgates are activated ( for whatever reason ), then the survivors should still be able to clean/destroy totems without the pressure ( the time pressure to make yourself ) that gives the killer no noed advantage.
I think, if the survivors allow the killer to get kills at the end with noed, ( for whatever reason ) then they have made mistakes in the endgame. So it is up to the survivors and not the killer. Do I think this perk is perfectly balanced? Yes, definitely. You can't balance a totemperk any better than that.
None of this reasoning matters because the regardless of how you try to fight this argument, in the end, it does award poor-gameplay.
Literally often times, I'd say around 8 times out of 10, a killer that is running NOED, has max two hooks on any given survivor/s in the match, if even 1.
The only true disadvantage of NOED is the fact that it can be de-activated before even activating, but it rewards the killer too much in the fact that a killer can bypass all health states, on top of an end-game speedboost that allows them to move around much quicker.

what about Freddie he has the second most kill rate but he is awful against high level survivors 🤷🏻♂️🤔
Well if he has the second highest kill rate, how awful can he honestly be?

Regardless of semantics/technicalities - DH was one of the (if not the most) commonly selected perks for survivors. It was crazy strong despite the validation issues.
This 'fix' amounted to a buff.
Buffing something that is already strong creates a problem.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2646922#Comment_2646922
Nobody is saying 'nerf all survivors'.
We're saying:
- If the 'fake hit'/'power eat' issues of DH can't be fixed, then the perk needs to be adjusted to compensate. It was strong before the 'fix', now it's just silly.
- CoH forces about a third of the killer roster to build specifically around the potential for CoH, or risk getting hard-countered. For one perk out of 16 to have this much power is bad design.
- There are still infinites that have never been fixed (Haddonfield 'House of Pain' as an example) despite existing for years. Survivor players, even at intermediate levels, are starting to play around these. Since these would be easy to fix and have never been fixed, you can only assume that this is deliberately being left in. Why?
- The arms-race between the anti-loop tools of newer killers and the increasing ability of survivor players to abuse strong loops leaves older killers in the dust.
- The Cenobite, Wraith and Slinger nerfs should not have happened, and the fact that they did - without a corresponding buff to killers with low gross kill rates - suggests that BHVR are operating under a direct double standard.
So do i need to mention all the map reworks that have happened to benefit killers? or how everytime EG was changed, it was to better the situation for killers? How literally the last few killers that we've gotten, have kits which completely ignore the core mechanic survivors have against killers? or how a whole survivor mechanic has been reworked making a whole selection of a specific item redundant in it's function?

No need to get hostile, just because I didn't address those points in my already way to long post doesn't mean they weren't considered. The problem is not that Killers get changed at a higher frequency or even that Killers are getting changed negatively at a higher frequency. It's an in-depth issue rooted in Development mentality that has favored one side over the other.
The other issue is that Survivors are currently in a position of power over the Killer side, so referring to them as the 'passive' side only contributes to the mentality that Survivors need to be nurtured over Killers, when I simply believe both sides should be treated equally.
I agree with your statement, Killers simply have more variables and are therefore at a higher likelihood of being changed, that's just the nature of statistics. But please attempt to understand the nature of the post as simply a conversation starter about a point of contention, and the actual problem it is trying to address before blindly attacking the point, it doesn't help peaceful discussion at all :)
Survivors are the passive role in the game, if they weren't - they would be the side that demanded the opposing side to play in a certain way.
Currently, the only way that survivors demand for the killer to play a certain way - is thru perks like DS or UB, but killers have their perks and powers. Also, if killers weren't the power-role then why did the statistics show that killers simply out-performed survivors drastically?

Of course, and my claim is not that Survivors never get nerfed or that they never get Dedicated or screwed over by the game or Devs, it just happens to Killers at a much higher frequency according to what we found!
If you paid 'attention' in stat class, you wouldn't miss out of factors, such as killers having more variables which increases the likelihood of changes being direct at killers over survivors.
As a killer, you have killer perks, you have a power and you have killer SPECIFIC addons.
Killers in the game have the most influence in how a game swings because the killer role literally demands the player to play around the specific killer they are running against - so why would the 'passive' side be nerfed more?

welcome to the dbd forums. its an echo chamber for killer mains.
Whilst I agree, and have experienced a wave of them plenty of times - i do think this may just be the issue that the player is not getting matched against survivors that are on his actual skill level tbh

It's because a majority of solo survivors are terrible at the game. And those terrible survivors are usually carried by one person on the team who knows how to actually play survivor appropriately. It's not because they're toxic or want to bully killers all day. It's because they don't want to run the killer for 5 minutes and watch as only 2 gens get done. So the natural solution is to play with other players of equal skill. It's just a massive improvement to the survivor experience. You can talk to people and have fun instead of watching the randoms crouch in the corner while you get hook smacked. It gives you a reliable team.
There's so many more avenues you could take with SWF gameplay wise. You can do challenges with your friends. You could go for bold plays and have someone back you up during it. Or you could just troll the killer the whole game (which is the part that gives swf a bad rep). It also solves a lot of the issues survivors face which is tunneling and camping. With coordination you can get a save and body block. Some solo survivors will do this but most of the time they run away even while having BT.
It's crazy how much being able to communicate with your team improves the game. Part of the reason I don't play survivor very often is because of the solo-que experience. SWF's are equipped to deal with the killer meta, where as most solo's will lose because the killer brings oppressive builds that require communication to handle.
TL;DR: swf removes everything that makes solo stomping so easy.
In a game, where teamwork is the main focus, it boggles my mind that having the simple feature of a voice chat is YET to be implemented.. honestly..

I disagree on the killers having more power to be toxic, it's def a 50/50 with flash lights, flash bangs, flash mines. those hurt man, and stun just as well as any pallet
But none of that stops you from progressing in-game and achieving your objective, if a survivor is being toxic with those - they are also screwing themselves over by wasting resources.

That didn't really answer my questions?
I agree with you on the boon totems, but survivors have second chance perks as additional resources to escape.
Are you wanting to remove those and be replaced with something else, like map reworks with additional second chance elements for survivors instead?
Or are second chance perks, loops, windows, pallets, sabotaging, and flashlights not enough and you want survivors to have more?
You're not really clarifying the solution you want to the problem you're addressing.
I don't mind if second chance perks were to get removed in favour of more resources.
I think the game organically should have resources ready to play against killers, but by adding so many killers that specifically have range and focus on anti-looping, the only natural form of counterplay is reduced.
