Note I’m advocating stealth when the killer is actually nearby; not urban evading across the entire map and wasting a time of time like most people do.

Only one of those things is actually stealth, though. Stealth is about not being perceived by a potential threat. There's no threat in your second scenario.

How much of a threat the survivor feels the killer is depends on them, some survivors are so scared they “stealth” the entire game because they never want to be seen once.

To me, stealth is hiding if the killer comes over to your gen, or hiding when attempting to make unhooks instead of just bombing it and relying on BT. I almost never take off spine chill so I usually have a clear indication of when to hide and when to sit on gens.

I think hiding if the killer comes to your gen is the best play pretty much every time. Even if they find you it typically wasted more time than just being at the nearest pallet and starting to expend resources immediately.

Not to mention DBD is more like a battle royal than a team game in solo Q so playing for hatch or to camp a door by not opening yourself up to being chased easily gives you a better shot at surviving overall; regardless of your looping skill.

Especially since some killers it’s pretty much impossible to “take aggro” to avoid a teammates death. If it’s a good nurse they see you and you pretty much just die, for example.

Someone needs to unhook you once you get downed, though.

Which is why stealth is optimal in solo Q. Farming saves is about the fastest way you can ever get blood points. A 1 second unhook is worth more than 80 seconds of gen time. And you cant save or do gens if you are getting camped or tunneled out. Pallet stuns? Not against a ton of the killer roster and it’s risky to do with dedicated servers.

You can loop all you want but it doesn’t matter if your team are hiding in bushes. Plenty of games are lost before you even load in as a survivor. Bad matchmaking, bad map RNG, and a plethora of overpowered killer builds ensure it.

Note I’m advocating stealth when the killer is actually nearby; not urban evading across the entire map and wasting a ton of time like most people do.

  • MMR was terrible. It’s adding competitive matchmaking to a party game. As solo Q survivor I only got to face the most unfun killers running sweaty builds, as killer I mainly got meta SWFs. I think I would just go play Apex if the system went live.

  • I still think they are pretty bad. They can make some unsafe loops more unsafe, but won’t do anything special at really safe loops like jungle gyms or the shack.

The survivor throws the pallet and that’s that. But you wasted extra time and bottles mixing the gases when you could have just used a purple and they probably would have camped the pallet anyways because you are clown.

It also takes a long time to set them up, making them not very useful on indoor maps for mobility.

They can be decent with addons but those are addons that would make the (far superior) purple bottles even better. Hitting someone with a bleach + ether bottle is devastating and it’s only if someone is camping an unsafe loop that you have time to set up both gas types. But it’s an unsafe loop against clown so chances are you could have just used more purples for the same hit anyways.

  • Not yet. After his windstorm basekit? Absolutely.

  • @katoptris said:

When I get people like this I just slug them.

And what does that accomplish? If you are playing a weaker killer into a meta SWF you need to earn every single M1.

And there will probably be multiple unbreakables. Two gens done before your corrupt intervention is over. Every survivor will have 3-4 second chance perks, in addition to a genrush and potentially a very survivor sided map offering.

Killers really need to know if it’s a SWF. And what rank. So they can prepare accordingly. If the devs want this be a “dungeonmaster” sort of game.

I need to know if I’m hitting a 3-4 man rank 1 SWF or a a rank 4 with his rank 15 buddies along with him. The game is played extremely differently in both cases if you are the killer

  • That’s one of the most problematic features of the game.

Solo Q is horrifying. Meta SWF is easy mode.

Killers have no idea what they are getting, especially with crossplay hiding SWFs now.

You can get 5-10 potato squads in a row and then hit seal team 6; expecting more spuds.

It’s actually the worst matchmaking I have ever seen in a game. At least other semi competitive games you know what you are getting yourself into.

You bring a stupid meme build and then get an Object of Obesession sweat squad; when you should be bringing something more serious for them.

But then you get bored stomping solo Q teams with a sweaty build and go back to the memes; until another SWF ruins your day and it’s back to sweat builds again.

Have you never talked ######### to someone else online?

Oh, I do every day. But it’s not my job, is it? I play this game in my free time.

  • No, but I’ve dumpstered many of the famous DBD streamers; who proceeded to talk mad smack in the VOD. Keep in mind I’ve played the game regularly for over 4 years as killer, I’ve killed a lot of streamers. So it’s not like I’m holding them on a pedestal or anything.

I’m just saying all the people who hold them to a high standard haven’t butchered them in a game and then watched them cry about it and talk smack. There’s plenty of big DBD streamers I refuse to watch even for a second because I don’t want to give them a penny. And it’s good. I BM them anytime I see them. I got a huge on just a few days ago and his chat had a good laugh at his reaction to me smacking him on hook until he died.

  • It’s only use is for slugging. You can usually just walk away after you scream and be fine. If you hear the terror radius and suspect a teammate will go down, get inside a locker.

Some of my most tense moments in DBD were during the broken MMR testing; which pitted rank 20s against rank 1s, and rushing to lockers to hide from an infectious fright Oni as my team was massacred.

I don't like it either, if they have twitch TV in their name I dodge, simple as that, no need to be like that wth? If they have that in their name and u stay in the lobby u have no right to complain about "getting money off u" since u agreed the moment u clicked ready

I’m not dodging, I’ll just play some incredibly broken stuff. If they survive good on them. If not too bad, hope I can see some salt in the VOD

Again, a right ray of sunshine.

You seem like the type of person to demand money because your apartment is in an aerial view of NYC.

No, it’s just human nature. Streamers want videos of them owning. I’m not gonna give it to them easily.

I’d rather have them getting slaughtered and viewers wondering why they are streaming in the first place. And I do it for free, no money needed.

  • All it takes is watching 1 VOD of someone insulting you the entire round. I have no respect for streamers.

Ideally they hit half on hook and get mori’d before they can use DS. I always pack a mori for TTVs, have since even before the nerf.

  • I bring sweat addons and a mori. Then I tunnel the whole lobby 1 by 1.

People trying to make money off me playing video games? Yeah, I’m not making it easy.

  • Oni is not fun for both sides I’m sorry. There’s nothing fun about facing a killer that gets almost a free down on you because your solo Q teammates took a hit or two.

All it takes is slapping on Akito’s Crutch and Topknot, getting a single M1, and farming blood for a bit for borderline free downs on the majority of maps.

Terrible design. That’s why I prefer ghostface to Myers. Myers can be 99% when you haven’t seen him all game. Ghostface can’t.

It’s a great map for survivors. Awful for killers. The area is so huge that realistically even two killers would have trouble patrolling that map at one time

Well there is a reason corrupt intervention is meta on all low mobility killers. It only got pushed to the side for ruin undying. But that’s gone now.

It’s still very relevant. 2 minutes to down your first survivor and begin the snowball. I have played as a rank 1 killer for years and consider getting my first hook for corrupt a fair trade. If I get it sooner great, maybe I can switch target a little bit.

It’s impossible to 12 hook on the majority of killers. Don’t even try it unless the survivors are completely potato.

If the group looks competent, tunnel someone out immediately. Eat the DS unless you are pyramid head. Stealth killers can assassinate someone coming off the hook without/who have already used DS the second they come off, ignoring BT.

Then you can snowball in the 3v1 or use pop to halt the game. Pop does almost nothing in a 4v1, but is amazing in a 3v1.

It’s not glorious, but it’s the best way to win. Especially against SWF

I never really understood whispers but that could work possibly with ghostface

I would use discordance then. Whispers requires a fair amount of map knowledge to triangulate positions.

In his description it also doesn't say he's able to use a range attack at all. It doesn't say he's got amazing zoning capabilities.

Also, the duration + recharge rate add-ons for his ROJ technically do affect both trails and POTD.

The devs may not have intented for his POTD to be the main focus of his kit, but it is to the majority of players.

Yeah but I mean look at his purples and his ultra rares; clearly he is focused around laying trails and having them be an actual obstacle survivors need to avoid.

But to have the trails last any sort of duration whatsoever you need the green, which means you are giving up range or sword holding duration which actually make him a real threat in chase.

So you end up being almost basekit pyramid head to have him be mediocre at laying trails that can inflict blindness for 60 seconds or other nonsense.

Why do huntress hatchets do that for a brown but it’s purple for pyramid?

Like 80% of his addons are worthless. Which is sad when you have killers like Oni, Blight, Spirit, etc who all have these amazing addons as well as a strong basekit.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2020498#Comment_2020498

maybe it's focusing on the ranged attack because the ranged attack is the major part of his kit?

It doesn’t say that at all in his description. “A map manipulation killer, able to torment survivors with the hazards he creates”

Almost all his addons focus on the trails.

But at the end of the day, it’s easier to use extra sword holding duration and wrap around entire loops to torment people instead of setting up the trails preemptively in a “map manipulation” way.

  • I just think he could use the trails lasting longer by default.

His description is “map manipulation killer” and I don’t feel that way at all using him.

The fact it’s easier to torment people using his sword duration addon instead of his goo duration addon is kinda silly.

I’ve only recently realised that in the Small Game perk icon it’s showing somebody’s legs running over a trap. I’ve always seen it as two hands linked together and I have no idea how. 😩😂

This a actually just blew my mind, for some reason I’ve always thought that was two twigs above the trap

  • PP head, I just love the look of his P3 as well as the spooky music before the chase give him this dark cultist vibe. The Dorito head ones don’t scare me much though, that outfit looks silly IMO.

Beyond him, Myers if I don’t have spine chill on. Nothing like turning around and seeing a 7 foot tall guy just standing there staring at you silently.

  • I think he’s pretty OP against solo Q.

There’s no way you can really stop him getting hits on your teammates, especially given the rainbow ranks in solo Q right now.

If you end up being the one he pops his power on there’s usually not too much you can do to stop getting 1 shot unless you are in a really strong area. And if he has good addons that still might not be enough.

It’s like never seeing Myers all game and then eating the tier 3 but 10x worse. Very punishing for mistakes that might not be your own.

  • I hope so, he looks like the new wraith. Decent; but only when pumped up by a ton of expensive addons. But I’m not even sure he looks strong enough to be a BBQ killer so he won’t even be able to sustain his addon dependency.

His perks are aight, nothing meta changing. I’m not even sure I will be getting him with shards.

This... is a troll right?? Huntress is one of the highest skill killers in game only behind Nurse.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDLhNcWcMYU

    ”High skill” lol

  • This is actually the first sluzzy post I have agreed with in a while. The hitboxes are straight busted and carry too many huntresses. At least deathslinger requires good aim

  • @Dragonshensi said:

I think part of it is my mindset too. If I get down to one or two gens and no one is dead I feel it as a loss. It just instantly demotivates me no matter how hard I try to pump myself up and shoulder on. That thought just burrows into my mind and just makes me what to let them finish and move on.

This is why I always take at least one early game perk on my killers. Corrupt, Whispers, or Discordance are all fantastic. Otherwise if you pick the wrong places to check first you will lose many gens and very quickly.

Id advocate whispers or discordance on ghostface either way since it will let you know when to be sneaky instead of walking into the survivors and having to M1 instead of stalk.

  • I tunnel if 2 gens get done before corrupt intervention is over.

I camp if I get an early hook in basement next to a 3 gen.

I camp if the person is on second hook and the game is close.

  • I used to main her, no. The maps and survivors are nerfed enough you don’t really need to play her anymore; you can win 9/10 games with any killer now.

She’s really annoying to play since they completely removed her lunge. And there’s tons of buggy objects that I don’t feel like dealing with anymore.

More stylish to kill people with Oni / Phead if I want to sweat on a really high mechanical skill killer IMO

Being rare to be used doesn't excuse power level. Keys weren't that common for a long time despite being the same power level as they are now. All it takes is some streamers and youtubers to start playing and talking about stuff and it blows up. It's not that crucial to fix though compared to more used balance issues though. But if Hag ever hits it big, she''ll likely need toned down in a couple spots. Nothing major though.

I mean plenty of streamers put her at the top on her tier lists and it’s well known she is very strong.

But at the end of the day, she’s probably going to suffer extra hard if you hit an object using 3-4 flashlight SWF or even just a random solo Q with object; which is why I assume she is so rare.

All it takes is one good looper with object and a flashlight following you around to completely ruin your match.

Against solo Q she is a monster but there’s plenty of other killers who terrorize solo Q as well.

  • No reason to use urban evasion over fixated if you have sprint burst. It’s better in almost every way as a stealth perk, in addition to letting you move around faster while holding the SB.

Deliverance is meh without DS. I’d use something else over it if you are not going for some crazy late game trades

  • @VexTheHex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2019058#Comment_2019058

Cause the few who do play her know how broken she can be. Also Mint Rag is beyond broken. Doesn't matter if you crouch walk to save someone when she teleports on command and now one shots both of you with MYC and the distance preventing the BT.

She is just unpopular in terms of playstyle as more strategy and less pew pew. And she is less popular in looks than the naked blue asian lady running around moaning with a optional school girl outfit for reasons.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2018861#Comment_2018861

The viewpoint of "securing" kills boils down to tunneling and camping. These playstyles aren't fun. I don't like being camped and tunneled, so I don't inflict it on others unless severely tilted or struggling. The Hag doesn't really need to camp/tunnel the hooks cause her traps can ensnare people on the move and cause mass injuries to multiple players while shutting down loops and ending chases remarkably fast.

One can play efficient and use Prayer Beads, IH Hatchets, Mint Rag Hag, and other OP stuff to get easy wins and be the most efficient. But there's a certain degree of responsibility to the players to not be jerks to each other with the goal of playing the most efficient way cause it boils down to the least fun playstyles in the game.

I have played this game for ~4 years and have never faced a mint rag hag. I could probably count on one hand the amount of rusty shackles games I was the survivor in.

I see hag maybe once a month, if that.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

I prefer the m1 chewed pen strategy. Just keep hitting and running and being a nuisance. I only stalk if the survivors are grouped together. I find that when I expose survivors, they go into uber loop mode and its time wasted.

Perhaps 99 them and save it for EGC or with 1 gen left in you are in a bad place.

Eww, why play ghostface as wraith?

Wraith is so much better than ghostface at hit and run because of windstorm.

Its stalk or go home, otherwise you might as well be going at 150% movespeed while stealthed

It’s not being lethargic. It takes more skill and time to be a killer and you don’t even have to really try too hard at being survivor cause you have three others picking up your slack

That’s disingenuous. You can easily be put in borderline unwinnable situations on both sides. Survivor you get people throwing the game, farming you, playing too immersive, etc.

Killer you get the 3-4 man meta sweat squads that finish all the gens in under 5 minutes.

I think how they determine those levels is how good or bad the power is, and how hard it is to use them.

Someone like pig is difficult (I think she is said to be hard in dbd), not because of her skill ceiling or how difficult her power is to use but how underwhelming her power is.

Huh? Freddy is the most lethal killer statistically but is labeled hard. And he can be very hard, if the survivors keep themselves awake.

Pig is just rolling the dice. Sometimes the traps kill people for you, sometimes they do nothing.

Solo Q survivor isn’t easy, only SWF.

  • Freddy is easy to play and super annoying. He is slated for a nerf.

Spirit / Oni are stronger but you will need to put some time into them to really git gud.

Myers / wraith are easy to play and decent, wraith will be pretty good next patch though.

  • Yeah, that’s what happens if survivors hold M1. Do the math. It’s 3 gens done in 80 seconds probably 90-100 if you factor in them traveling to a gen because of you dropping a whole perk slot on corrupt intervention.

Pop goes the weasel is 20 seconds off a gen which is 6.3~ seconds cumulatively done by 3 survivors. It’s only good when someone is already dead.

Tunnel/camp/slug, play broken builds, or lose. Those are your options against good survivors. It’s hilarious the most famous advocate of 12 hooks (true talent) wants an undying ruin in his tournament. That’s like admitting gen speeds are busted for the majority of killers.

  • What’s this “we”?

Ah..... I don't know dude, to me (note that it's all down to personal preference) nothing is more fun than scratch mirror myers.

Not talking about how strong it is, just talking about the fun factor

Yeah but I’m saying they are basically the same thing, wraith just does it better.

Both got wallhacks, and both come at you with 0 warning from behind corners on an indoor map. It’s very close to playing the same character.

Its just they use different addons, and wraith is doing it at 125% speed with silent bell + wallhacks and a ~massive~ lunge.

Myers is doing it at 105% with no lunge.

I used to play a lot of scratched mirror Myers but now I’m a silent bell wraith convert. Waaay more fun especially against good survivors; since even once your cover is blown you can still do the loops at 115. And you can come out from behind the corners from way further away and can still nail people at pallets. It’s just better in every single way beyond being more expensive since you need an ultra rare. Try it before you knock on it.

  • @BlindMole said:

Myers for scratch mirror games. Trust me, it's worth it

Wraith is straight up better at it now, and will be even more so after his next buff.

Thats not a bug, a bug is a glitch in the code that creates something unexpected, people disconecting, the game counting them as dead and opening the Hatch if there is only 1 Survivor left is intended. In any case if you think it should be considered an exploit report them by all means, you may be right and its ban worthy.

Examples of bugs would be the never ending Legion Deep Wounds timer, it was never intended to increase the timer over and over and a Survivor exploit which I cant really remember but I do remember some people got banned, I think it had something to do with permanent Sprint Burst.

I know what it was. But like I said I never heard of anyone getting banned for the wake up glitch. Never heard of anyone getting banned for spamming doc when he ignored DS. Never heard of people getting banned when certain killers got free enduring against DS.

But if you don’t count DC for hatch as an exploit I don’t know how you can be counting using addons freely available in the game as an “exploit” worth banning people over.

Both are abusing the game mechanics to get an advantage. You can nitpick all you want. It’s just combing hairs.

  • @HectorBrando said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2013435#Comment_2013435

Its not my logic, its their rules, read the EULA, if you exploit a bug to gain an unfair advantage they are in their right to ban you if they find out, there is no room for logics, interpretation or twists.

Also Needle & Thread does have the increased speed on its description, I dont know what you talking about.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ANJIALZQWSZH/20210311193729-1.jpg

So should I be out here reporting every survivor who DCs for hatch? Cause that’s heavily abused and been in the game for years now.

  • I doubt a rank 13 killer with those perks even knows what “tunneling” is.

  • The most annoying thing that nobody remembers? Legitimate hatch standoffs or survivors having to attempt to get 2 done by themselves when the whole team DC’d / died at 5 gens left. At least old left behind was actually kinda beast.

  • They certainly didn’t ban the armies of fresh quentins during the wake up bug.

But legion mending bug? Mori spam? Insta ban.

I actually read on these forums from a mod mori spam wasn’t bannable “because the bleed out timer is still going” but got a 3 day for doing it to a SWF with clown. I guess demoralizing a sweaty SWF is an in game advantage but wake up increasing ~gens~ wasn’t.

  • Quit using totems, that’s your first mistake. They are back to RNG garbage after the undying nerf. The only reliable regression anymore is pop.

Two, you gotta tunnel. Eat the DS and tunnel someone out every single game, it’s the most consistent way to win. You are not 12 hooking unless the survivors are absolutely incompetent at looping and also gen phobic.

Run the busted builds and killers too, survivors have no problem spamming keys and DS currently so you might as well.

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 … 25
