Agreed, people already counted hooks, remove the need to bother with such silly things. You should be able to see your progress towards your objective. Especially now that survivors have ways to manipulate them.

You guys should just stop, this is pointless. It was never going to be an "honest discussion" with the topic and narrative the OP wants to push. Attempting to discuss anything with people who actually just want an echo chamber for their (terrible) opinions is a waste of time just like this entire thread is.
TLDR of every single whine thead:- Lack of experience, lack of willingness to adapt and skill issues. End of.

At that point the discussion is over, because not even the perfect gameplay would be enough.
There was never a discussion here in the first place. There NEVER is when someone creates a whine thread because that person can never admit their thinking is wrong. Whine threads facilitate echo chambers.

Another "killer OP" thread, another thread proving survivors have skill issues and refuse to adapt to how different killers play. Same old story.

It's over now, Sinkra. The mode is over. It will come back later. You can stop crusading about it because it doesn't matter now. Bone Chill and then what appears to be Chaos Shuffle is next, then maybe some other modes and then Blood Moon. It's going to be a good several months before 2v8 comes back, and you're gonna have to learn to live with that.
A lot of people actually don't want it permanent, and this holds true across basically every single online discussion place this community has, it's a polarizing mode and it has nothing to do with it being "better" than 1v4 which is objective statement not fact. It has nothing to do with BHVR's pride, either, because 1v4 is simply the bread and butter of the game and if you don't like it, you pretty much just don't like Dead by Daylight. It has to do with the fact that the mode simply screws up 1v4 for everyone who doesn't want to play 2v8 (for various reasons), and it has long queue times for Killer PLUS not much new to do for Survivors. It's 100% due to the queue times - casual Killers exist too you know - that this mode can't be permanent, at least not yet, not until it's 100% ironed out AND Queue times are sorted. We've been over this many times on these forums, and every time you seem to refuse to listen.
If you hate 1v4, don't complain - just stop playing, then come back when your preferred mode is on. That's what everyone else who prefers this mode has done. It's what I did when I got fed up with 2v8, I left. That's also what YOU should do, and I say this as someone worried for you about this because you seem obsessed with being in a cycle of hatred for anyone who prefers 1v4.
The mode is over, and coming back later. Please let it go.
If you do not like 1v4, nobody is holding a gun to your head. Nobody is making you play but yourself. Go play something else if you hate 1v4 so much, you're here complaining a limited mode that messes with the game's wait times on a fundamental level isn't permanent. Or, find a way to make 1v4 fun for you, if Survivor sucks that hard then might I suggest learning a Killer you like and playing without all the perks you find so sweaty? The challenge might even be fun, there's many Killer Mains who like to play that way.
It has nothing to do with BHVR's pride, either, because 1v4 is simply the bread and butter of the game and if you don't like it, you pretty much just don't like Dead by Daylight.
Literally this.

-Broadly gestures to every second chance perk Survivors get while Killers get one perk-
Killer players need to have something that doesn't make even the slightest mistake kick them in the nuts.Yes, one of the problems is excessive second chance perks that reward bad play, they just shouldnt exist. In a game where the killer is against the clock immediately as the game starts they waste far too much time with competent players. Of course lets not forget they get weaponised for "value".
Far too many survivors rely on crutches to play, and those crutches get abused by good players. The game will always be a mess until all the hand holding is gone and the average skill level goes up because they have to learn. This feeds into the fact everything good killers get, gets nerfed because bad survivors dont want to adapt and improve. Balancing by the lowest demoninator makes for a terrible game balance.
-
The catch up mechanic was terribly thought out, badly implimented and massively weighted towards survivors, so no. Probably their worse idea yet.
Just do gens and extend your chases like you're supposed too. You shouldnt be rewarded for playing badly
-
They'll use 4 dupes to cancel the ward out or not bother probably.
-
Nah 4v1 is better, 2v8 is mindnumbingly boring, badly designed and implimented, limited, repetitive. It's a soulless boring dumbed down DBD lite for people who cant play actual DBD.
It's a palette cleanser for a couple days at best, and an excuse to drop the game and have a break until its gone at worse.
-
People will just do the bare minimum to get rewards and never go back, so at best its a short burst in activity, or people just wont care enough to bother. No amount of survivor rewards will get me to play this dumpster fire of a game mode, nor will killer rewards on killers i dont want to play.
-
No we do not. We'd be very happy if it never came back. It's the most watered down, boring, mindless, no skill excuse for a game mode yet and its active time in the game ruins it for many of us. It's basically a forced 2 week break from the game because trying to get killer games is just a waste of time.
The game cannot support split queues at all.
-

Okay, I edited the Developer Update to reflect the correct numbers, it should be:
5% per gen completed and 2.5% for each cage state. Sorry about that.
Thank you for the update! A 2:1 ratio seems alot better at first glance. Will be interesting to test in game
-
The scaling is flawed and terrible, its 8 gens vs 24 cage states. If you're losing 1% per state you may as well tunnel people out and slug and take away survivor pressure that way. Either way the gens are going to fly, 8 gens is too low it should have been 10.
Here's hoping we don't get an extension like last time, easily the worst game mode.
-
OMG yes please! We need the winchesters

If they are going to introduce perks that manipulate Hook states then the killer NEEDS to have this type of information now.

So now if ones experience doesn't match 'the data', it just doesn't exist? Need a little more here. I dont want to assume things, so please set this straight for me.
I fel nothing you said disproves anything I said, so cool. But when did I say anything requiring you to respond with "This works both ways you know? Your experience isn't the sacrosanct word of God and doesn't represent anything to do with the overall state of the game. Only BHVR has the data, and your experience doesn't match up with it."
If you're going to say any experience that doesn't add up to the 'data' is false, then we're through here lol. But I don't want to assume that, so please.
Where did i say your experience doesn't exist? I'm saying it doesn't represent the game itself by any measure except your personal experience with it and nothing else. You're trying to apply it to the state of the game by using it to say there's an issue of some kind when there is nothing to prove it except personal bias and quantified data by BHVR to prove there is not in any significant way by their statistics.
Your experience isn't "false", its just not representative of anything else.

New to the forums? You can check all kinds of posts: everyone is top mmr here. Just read their claims, and I DARE you to tell them they are wrong. So, this 'epidemic' is pretty much everyone. But me, that is. I'm 3 points under 'high mmr'.

Slugging just to bleed everyone out is a solid gameplan and accepted by BHVR. Anyone who complains are just bad at the game and need to understand it better. There, answered for you.
But its still not fun or worthwhile gameplay for anyone, including the killer. I really hope BHVR fix this whole 'not worth hooking' because its very unfun. Being this is a game, its supposed to be fun if someone plays it. Its usually not. How to fix this?
Yes it is a good solution when you're being bled out with no way to recover. You should read the context before sending these remarks. But hey if you want to bump up your penalty instead for the sake of 2-4 mins for no reason be my guest :)

I'm not sure if you were around then, but people don't want basekit Unbreakable, on either side.
When the devs first tried the idea of basekit Unbreakable alongside the original Finisher Mori, almost the entire playerbase united against it and it got scrapped (a rather unprecedented event). Basekit Unbreakable simply cannot happen, it would fix one problem but create more and turn the gap between SWF and SoloQ into an ocean.
In fact, most people don't mind the Finisher Mori animation in and of itself (although it gets old after a while), people mind the fact that it incentivizes slugging for the 4k even more than before (which is a feat). Most of the well-thought-out suggestions I see are people suggesting simply adding some sort of condition to be able to do the Finisher Mori (usually revolving around the 3rd Survivor escaping, dying by sacrifice, or dying by Mori while the last Survivor is still on their feet) without making slugging itself impossible.
Unfortunately the DC penalty can't exactly be more severe due to the game simply being too unstable and cheaters (that can crash the server on-command) being too common for it. If the game was stable I wouldn't really mind but the server kicks us out of the game at least 3 times a week and getting a 3-5 minutes penalty for something completely out of our control would just be annoying. I'm not saying it should go (we all know what happens when it's gone after having gone through the few periods when it was gone, it was barely possible to play a full game) but it can't be too severe due to how unreliable the game is.
I wasn't, and i agree it should never be put in the game. But yet we constantly see posts about wanting it implemented.
Oh i know the whining about the mori is nonsense, but it doesn't really incentivise slugging for a 4k. It literally changes nothing except you see the animation instead of having to carry to a hook. The incentive to slug for a 4k is exactly the same as it was pre mori. Adding restrictions is pointless because either people wont bother and slug for the 4k and hook them, or they'll make the wait for the mori even worse for literally no gain. It's fine as it is now.
Fair enough on the DC penalty, i can't say i ever experience being disconnected so i don't know how much of an issue overall it is. The rest of my comment stands though, survivor interactivity with hook stages needs to go, they can't be trusted not to abuse it to avoid the penalty. If you want to leave a match you should be penalised for it.

Lmao, your still mad you cant hit surviviors off hook?
Maybe your to killer sided to realize your survivior mmr is so low you dont notice it since you never pass the middle mmr brackets, just a thought
Also you can watch comp gameplay, really eye opening how slugging is the norm. Its as if people truly do slug!
I play both sides actually. I don't know where you're getting your condescending argument from, at no point did i say no one slugs, i said its not an "epidemic". Anything to justify your opinion i guess… Consider that maybe your MMR is so low that you all give killers the opportunity to multi slug in the first place.
Using comp DBD as a standard for anything other than comp is disingenuous, its essentially a whole other game with self made restrictions.
I get normal games with normal amounts of tactical slugging, the same as the vast majority of players. Hell the only time i ever get to multi slug as a killer is when they basically throw themselves at me.

Yeah its kind of an epidemic right now. I found that I have no choice but to run anti slug and anti tunnel perks now. Too many killers have adopted the "Im not responsible for your fun" mentality. A tragic sentiment to have in a multiplayer game tbh.
But I do think the DC penalty needs to go since it encourages people just to die on hook rather than leave us with a bot.
Yeah.. because survivors ever care about the killers fun, you all seem to forget its a two way street.
The DC penalty needs to be more severe if anything, what they need to do it remove any possibility of killing yourself on hook by remove unhooks that arent 100% and stage 2 skill checks. Survivors can't be trusted to have interactivity with their hook states so they need to go, its simple really.
There's no epidemic though, thats just what people preach to try and get basekit buffs
-
Because you abandoned a game prematurely? I think its pretty obvious why.
You're only wasting your time if you're sat there watching the bar go down for some silly reason. Go be productive, get a drink or snack or literally anything else and let everyone else waste their time instead.

Really they should include all data to the kill rates. Having the AFK killers in and leaving out DC's already shifts the %
Nah because not all data is relevant or accurate for proper parsing of results. I've still never seen an AFK killer, i can't imagine they make any discernible impact on the results. Games with AFK survivors arent removed either for that matter. But as you were discussing with drsoontm, self sabotage ruins the data and any results and unfortunately not all deaths on first hook are suicides so its hard to filter that out without knowing the exact circumstances behind each one to determine if it should be counted or not. DC's however are very simple to filter out and have a very obvious impact on the game.

Now include games with a dc, exclude hatch escapes, exclude games where killer is afk, and solo q escape rate is probably around 20%.
It's almost like that data (that would happen to negatively skew results towards your claims) is excluded because its flawed and irrelevant as it has too much of an impact on games.
What you want is to include data that suits you and remove data that disproves you. The bad faith is astounding honestly.

*Survivor, not Victim. Even tho I know that some people just want Survivors to be victims.
@Topic:
Boil Over is a bad example. It was really unhealthy and in general it is still an unhealthy Perk. You will never see Boil Over in a regular Build, because it is bad. You will only see it in Builds which are supposed to be annoying. In fact, Boil Over would need a complete Rework to have the chance to become a viable Perk.
Adrenaline I would agree, the Perk got nerfed too hard. I think at least one of the Nerfs would have been fine to be reverted, the only real problem was that it wakes Survivors up against Freddy. The rest of the Perk was fine and not really complained about.
Distortion on the other hand was just whining about it. There was not really anything wrong with Distortion, Killers acted as if they cannot find Survivors anymore, which begged the question how Killers manage to do that who dont run any Aura Read-Perks. And the argument that Survivors are hiding with Distortion and teammates are dying due to that was also just bad - players who play THAT immersed will just use more lockers and be even less useful than before.
Adrenaline got nerfed the right amount, perks interacting with killer powers was bad, and the free unhook with heal, endurance and speed boost while also robbing the killer's pressure was ridiculous. It was too strong when survivors were in a winning position, and just flat out too beneficial with no counter play in a tied position which defaulted the situation into the survivors advantage.
There was alot wrong with distortion, and its pretty insane there's still people defending its over tuned, unhealthy previous version. You ignoring the issues it caused along with the logical arguments supporting it because they were "bad" (they weren't) is nonsense. It's just a fact that stealthy play is overall bad for everyone else unless you're in a coordinated group.
-
Because the split queues suck, because theres better BP incentives on the event, because interacting with the event is just bad for killers just like anything that tries to take them away from gens. Because of event items and rewards.

We didn't get a ping for this one and just saw this.
Certainly not to any extent that a perfectly fine mechanic needs counter productive changes.
We have stated why we think it could use tweaking. If you don't think they are enough reason that is fine, but we have stated multiple times.
While people need BP 99% of people arent going to be running a mori offering, making that a moot point.
We're unsure as to where the BP reasoning came from as the offering is to literally see the mori multiple times. That trail of thought was in response to your worries about if bhvr wanted to monetize moris. If people want to see the mori and not jump through hoops, they have the option of said offering.
you're missing is you can't really change people's behaviour in significant degress, if they want to mori they will mori. Adding restrictions onto it just makes your "issues" worse and the killers experience worse for no real gain.
Depends on whos definition of significant. As the new mori system has changed it enough that its significant by our definition, we feel it can be changed that same degree via this. Will it actually work? Who knows, but we'd like something to change. Hell make it so if everyone else is on hook the mori can go right away.
A great example of confirmation bias is the so called "slugging epidemic", where ive experienced virtually no slugging except tactical slugging. Nothing has changed yet people are claiming otherwise. Just like you are seeing this as an issue and im not, and there's certainly no comparison between this "issue" and the "slugging issue" in terms of people moaning about it so it really shows is not a problem at all.
That would be your own experience then. Read some of the above such as Wezqu and in General chat Laluzi made a thread that has a more…eloquent[?] explaining of our thoughts. Theres some saying about if you don't see it it doesn't exist but none of us can remember.
Yeah i thought the mods nuked my post tbh because it disappeared for me. Weird.
Anyway looks like we're just going to go back and forth on this so we can agree to disagree as im not going to drag this on. Ultimately forum posters are always a minority of players so anyone posting their experience isn't giving a remotely accurate assessment of how the game actually is for anyone but themselves(even then people lie and exaggerate all the time). For everyone posting that X or Y is "rampant" or an "issue" there could be 1000 people who have no real change to their general games.
People already slugged for 4k's the mori barely changed anything in the grand scheme of things, those who will slug will do so, those who don't really care won't do it, or do it opportunistically (most of the time its survivors basically handing them the slug anyway). People are prone to confirmation bias to back up whatever thing they are moaning about at the end of the day.

Just remove self unhooking and any and all abiltiy for the hooked survivor to interact with their hook state. They hang there for the time duration or until unhooked unless they have a guarantee way to unhook themselves. And also increase the DC penalties, if you are mad enough to rage quit games then you should be forced onto a lengthy break as you clearly dont want to play the game and its better for everyone else.

So just so we're clear, your going to try and dismiss our experience because you're not experiencing it in the same quantities?
You also seem to be missing the points in a couple of places. So first, the offering is in response to your worries about monetization. If they want moris more than ever why wouldn't they bring the offering to see it 4 times a match. That's not even getting at those who go for quad moris.
Second you said you hook rather than wait for the mori, the point of our suggestion is to try and get people to behave like that.
Not dismiss, just pointing out that any "issues" you might have are personal and don't represent any state of the game in any way. Certainly not to any extent that a perfectly fine mechanic needs counter productive changes.
I'm not missing the point, but you're veering off the topic of the basekit mori to continue your argument, which is pretty indicative of not having a counter point. While people need BP 99% of people arent going to be running a mori offering, making that a moot point.
Yes, im one of the killers who isnt interested in waiting for a survivor to drag out their death on hook, im not particularly bias for or against the mori, it's just a bonus if i dont have to wait more than it takes to hook, which cant be said of you in this argument. The thing you're missing is you can't really change people's behaviour in significant degress, if they want to mori they will mori. Adding restrictions onto it just makes your "issues" worse and the killers experience worse for no real gain.
A great example of confirmation bias is the so called "slugging epidemic", where ive experienced virtually no slugging except tactical slugging. Nothing has changed yet people are claiming otherwise. Currently if the killer is going to hook you anyway
Thats the thing, they don't. When the finisher came live people have been leaving that 4th person waiting slugged while the 3rd person is dying slowly on hook. Now we maybe wrong but putting the 1 and 1 pieces together says to us that more are doing this because of said finisher.
…Also where have we demanded anything here?
And last if behavior monetizes moris people can bring the offering to potentially get 4. You keep bringing that up but seemed to forget that offering exists still…
All this and yet you fail to understand that your "experience" is just that, yours, your entire argument hinges on your personal bias which equates to it really meaning nothing at all. Because in that same logic, this "issue" basically doesnt exist at all because this hasn't been my experience except a handful of times. And also just like my experience, i also just hook rather than wait for my mori if survivor 3 isnt going to let go.
You're really grasping at straws to try and use a 100% optional offerring as a basis of anything for an argument on a basekit mechanic.
The basekit mori doesnt need any change, especially not some arbitary not thought out change that will actually make it even worse for you if this is such an "issue".

As we said, both are to blame. To quote ourselves:
Yes we get both sides are to blame but it's not the point.
We also don't care about a "free escape", we simply want the match to end in a more timely manner. If they want the mori that bad then they also have to work for it with our suggestion via having to at minimum find hatch then slug and at worst lose the survivor via adrenaline activation. If they want to end the match quickly while not wanting to slug them on the hook the survivor goes like before. We are tired of waiting on both parties when we know we're dead.
Yet your "solution" just creates more waiting in every circumstance except when the killer doesnt care about the mori. Currently if the killer is going to hook you anyway there's no difference, you're just asking to be slugged even longer, but hey if thats what you want then by all means. Your demands for it to change are counter productive to your "issue".
And if BHVR monotise mori's, which means killers will want to use mori's more than ever, then you'll hate it even more for your making the killer "work for it"" instead of just letting them do it as is lol.

Slugging for the 4k is probably not the best words to describe what we're trying to talk about. The effects is that more people are slugging to not risk the last survivor escaping by any means.
For example the last two down both on second hook. Killer hooks one and waits to mori instead of grabbing and hooking. We don't care about the mori and slugging for the 4k is its own thing, but we are getting annoyed by this type of scenario. Yes we get both sides are to blame but it's not the point. With our suggestion this scenario can't happen without the killer closings hatch or does being open. Those who are playing just to play will more likely go and hook to end the survivors while those slugging to mori (no those slugging to slug) need extra hoops.
Keep the mori if it matters so much but make it so you can when there's nothing else Survivors can do (granted this has its own problems) or something to stop this tedium.
The killer is allowed to deny you your free escape… you're not entitled to it.
In your example the survivor hanging on for no reason is the one dragging the game out as well, more so than the killer tbh, don't place all the blame on the killer. Instead of trying to ruin the mori, just do anything except stare at your screen waiting? Tacking the arbitary EGC requirement onto it is just a silly suggestion that will ultimately extend your wait either way if the killer wants to mori you.

It's not ment to combat slugging for the 4k, it's more to incentivise getting the killer to end the game in a more timely manner.
Since people keep slugging and then waiting just for the mori it's becoming more of a pain in the arse. With this the killer would have to go close the hatch if they want the mori that bad or the gates would need to be open for whatever reason.
Im not saying it is, im saying changing the mechanic is pointless as it really has little effect as it is, people already will slug for a 4k if they were going to anyway, the mori is just a bonus "finisher". This also doesnt particularly incentivise the killer to end it quicker, they will STILL slug for a 4k, in fact if they really want the mori it actually just wastes even more time meeting a pointless, arbitrary requirement we don't have attached to it now.
What it does do is impact BHVRs sales if they want to monetise mori's by locking them behind a pointless restriction.

Oh no.. the horror! It's almost as if there's 3 other players (well 1 bot) in the game to help you up. I see two hooks at 2 gens left, so this isnt a problem game at all, this is your fellow survivors leaving you on the ground to bleed out. You're literally out in the open in the centre of the map, this isnt a slugging problem at all lol.
Your pic literally proves me right but okay.. :)

If we may make a suggestion: Allow the mori only if end game collapse is active.
Seems like a good compromise to us, but what does the crowd think?
Nah its fine as it is, just the usual senseless moaning. Slugging for the 4k was already incentivised if the killer cared to do it. Endgame collapse basically doesnt exist because the gates are usually 99% until escapes are about to happen. The only difference is whether you die on a hook or in a cool animation.
-
There is no slugging epidemic. Just people moaning and using flimsy arguments and mental gymnastics to try and get more basekit buffs so they don't have to improve at the game.
-
Doesn't matter what type of slugging they are referring too. The answers are Unbreakable, Boon: Exponential, Plot twist or getting someone else to pick you up. There's nothing being "exploited", if you want to use that argument against legitimate game mechanics then there's a long, long loooooong list of gameplay that falls into that category using that logic.
Someone doesnt want to be slugged? Bring anti-slug and counterplay it rather than demanding the devs solve it for you.
The stats destroy any and all arguments about all the moaning about slugging in any significant way, its all just bias, and the mori hasn't changed anything at all, it's just yet another angle to try and get more basekit buffs for survivors.
-
Unbreakable exists… if the entire team can get slugged well thats just a skill issue and you got outplayed by the killer.
-
They'd be silly to listen to 99% of the "feedback" presented by general players anyway.

I have a solution for slugging as well, actually. I planned to post it another time however. I don’t think it is as well thought out as this solution, but I believe it would combat slugging somewhat.
Killers should be looking for other survivors and monitoring generators, not camping or tunneling one person. They need an incentive to not do those things, and the best way is by removing, or dang close to it, the ability to camp or tunnel. What you're suggesting isnt an incentive, its a punishment for hooking, and you can see how well thats been going for BHVR. If you all keep demanding killers be punished for doing their objective you're just going to incentivise more and more annoying and toxic playstyles.
Camping is already bad for a killer unless you reward them for it. JUST. DO. GENS. Killer has zero map pressure if they are camping.

Killers with stealth negate Still Sight, Poised, and other perks that let survivors see the killer. Why should survivors not have the same benefit?
Disingenuous argument, a survivor doesnt have to find a killer to do their win condition.
-
Proving the real problem with solo q is the survivor players making the dumbest plays and snowballing the game.
-
That sample size is beyond irrelevant in proving anything at all. Minimums for sample sizes are 100, but realistically its way more than that to determine any kind of real result. (Like 1000+)
Anyway BHVR have already said its an average not a guarantee because there's so many factors that will influence the game. There's also absolutely zero data from you from each game to go off of. Were there any people giving up? Doing challenges and losing because of it? etc etc etc. There's more goals than killing and escaping that influence how people play the game. You will never get an accurate result because you can't account for every variable.

It still involves hiding in the killer terror radius and with hyper focus lets gens be done fast which killers complains about. So its barely different.
They don't negate killer perks for starters. They do different things, but stake out and hyperfocus don't promote unhealthy gameplay.
