  • I'd rather just not play the game at all than subject myself to this garbage, boring game mode, let alone being forced to play survivor just to play what i want. 2v8 just needs to die.

  • Yeah im just not playing until its gone just like every other time. Easily the worst, most boring game mode and it ruins my queue times to boot. Seeing only a 200% BP bonus in 2v8 is absolutely laughable too, literally worse BP than regular killer games at that point.

DBD isnt a good enough game that i'll wait up to 10mins for a game let alone the longer 2v8 queues just to play the game, and the 4v1 SWF sweat fest isnt any fun either. This mode really does just ruin the game every time its active.

  • 2v8 is just time to take a break and play something else.

  • Nah yeeting the survivor to the other side of the map for a free safe unhook is bad. Choosing the hook or area you want to hook in has alot of value.

The last thing we need to do is make gens finish faster…

Then let me pitch this at you if we are using your thinking perhaps? (Genuinely with respect)

Sadakos are TV auras need to be removed then. That should never have been given to survivors. It throws my chase of when they know exactly where I am coming from OR her DIRECTIONAL lullaby should be removed/reduced. Survivors pre run in the exact opppsite direction because they know where I am coming from.

Perks like Dissolution provide an icon for survivors. The survivors not in chase get the liberty of seeing the killer is using it. This should be removed too. Pigs Iri addon where she can see your aura via walls while crouched should also lose its warning. ⚠️

Not saying I agree with you or don’t agree. Just pitching stuff at you.

I think other people summed it up well enough since ive been gone. It would be a good beginner hand hold perk, but a terrible basekit addition. And Xyphus pointed out some valuable points too about survivor behaviour.

  • Not in regular 4v1 at least. Giving away parts of the killers loadout for free is lame and it stunts survivors ability to learn and intuit what perks the killer might have because they are being fed information for nothing. Chases would just become even worse and less fun because people will pre-run to a safe place before you can even capitalise on the aura reading, extending chase time and reducing killer pressure for free.

I dont think throwing around free information is good for the game in general.

There are plenty of ideas for sure. I don't think BHVR have the guts to implement it though.

Sadly you're probably right. Perk limits in SWFs would actually help diversify perk usage though, which means non-meta perks get used and can get adjusted accordingly too. It would be a great way to start breaking up any metas.

  • @thrive2survive said:

Ngl, I've been behind the limiting perks and items to a point system for a LONG time. I can't wait for BHVR to NOT add it. Any idea that doesn't come from them probably will never make it into the game play system. Just goes to show how much pride can cloud vision.

Down votes toward this idea will of course come from people who only play SWF.

Yeah they can't just keep buffing solo q survivor without buffing SWF unless they actively nerf SWF specifically to balance it out otherwise the only losers are killers who then either also need to be buffed, or maps need to be further nerfed which again is a nerf to solo q… etc etc etc….

I think as soon as your partied with 1+ person you're simply not allowed any duplicate perks. That alone will go a long way to bringing balance to the force.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

BHVR did a poll/survey. It said something along the lines of, "Hey, we're working on a way to make 2v8 queue times better, but it won't be ready until summer. Would you like to have 2v8 return in May, anyway?" And people voted yes, they wanted 2v8 to return sooner rather than later.

    The players chose it. Knowingly.

The "fix" for 2v8 queue times is scheduled for later in the summer. Killers will supposedly be able to queue up and play survivor while they wait, preserving their place in the killer queue line.

It was only a small minority of players who even participated in that survey which is the dumb thing. The vast majority didn't even care enough to fill it in which says alot about the interest yet they did it anyway.

Personally i don't want this event to EVER AGAIN be active during a rift so i can actually play the game and not garbage dbd lite.

  • Somehow managed to be even more garbage than ever, didn't think it was possible. 24/7 never ending overbuffed Oni one shotting and slugging constantly while the other killer just pressures and cleans up, or is legion and does that while supplying Oni his power endlessly. Oni DID NOT need to be buffed for this, can you actually test your game.

Games are just boring snowballs of people going down in 5 second chases vs insta down killers. Even with a 300% bonus im getting less points than my regular killer games as a survivor because i don't get the chance to really do anything, whats the point even playing this garbage?

Do us all a favour and dont run this trash, queue destroying event during a rift so we can actually play what we want.

I'll once again be taking a break from the game until the garbage tier event is over as killer queues arent even worth it for either mode and 1v4 is a SWF sweat fest. That BP bonus needs to go waaaay higher to waste my time in 2v8.

  • Im hoping all the bandwagon players just get sick of the long ass queue times and drift off sooner than that so i can actually play the game. I REALLY hate how they are releasing this to coincide with the anniversary, so now one of the biggest events will have potentially gimped killer queues and i can't enjoy the game because im not waiting to play what i want to play.

They had to put Survivor Bots in public PTB lobbies if that's any indication on how Killer is going.

Because the thing people want to try the most in PTBs are new killers, there's not really much worth playing survivor in PTBs as the gameplay is the same. Naturally if 90% of people are trying killer then theres a shortage of survivors so the bots make sense rather than waiting 20mins for a killer game. There's never been a killer shortage in a PTB.

This isnt an indication of anything at all for the game itself, just a lopsided preference for testing killers over survivor perks in PTB.

  • He's already been nerfed… you all won't be happy until he's unplayable or a trash m1 killer no one plays it seems.

  • Agreed, it encourages anti-altruistic and selfish behaviour. I've not stayed to try and help get others out since the rift opened, once gates are open im out because im not risking my progression to help others.

It will also take a long time and people who don't play much will suffer with this milestone. 2v8 is the only thing that'll help but i didn't even want to play it to begin with…

FNAF is a killer DLC, with a majority killer audience.

The FNAF audience that isn't already playing DBD isn't coming to play survivor. They've done that already . Over and over. They don't care about running from Springtrap, dropping pallets, getting beamer saves. Most of them watch survivor gameplay and fall asleep.

They're coming to play Springtrap, because it's the first time that's ever been possible for them outside of a random 8 bit FNAF spinoff game. PLAYING Springtrap is what is attracting them. Not playing against them. Sure, at low MMR, killer is probably okay for the first few hours. Then you're MMR is in that bubble that will match you with pretty much anyone. That's when new killer players will start to feel stressed and anxious, and the FNAF audience won't just switch to survivor. They'll leave. If anything, it's the killer experience that needs to be given some help for the lower end of the MMR spectrum.

This entire post is just "make survivor even easier" with a completely incorrect context. Survivors have had a LOT of improvements. Anti camp, anti 3 gen, base kit this, base kit that, perk buffs etc. The handholding has gone far enough and there comes a time where survivors just need to get better instead of having their hand held to cross the proverbial street. The game is the easiest it's EVER been, and that INCLUDES survivors.

Survivors are NOT victims. They haven't been for quite some time.

Totally looking forward to insanely long killer queues to the point i won't be playing the game for a good while….

Half of the rift quests in tomes are locked behind one of the sides, and even crazier, many of them were locked behind killers or survivors you would have to purchase just to do that specific challenge. This is nothing new. At least the new quest system can be done as a killer or survivor of your choice and not being forced to "get x number of teleport downs with Singularity" or "Escape twice as Jane Romero" to get significant rift progress.

Difference is, those were a few games at most, heck you could ignore most of the old rift mission entirely. I was usually done before or during the 3rd page while ignoring most of the survivor ones.

Having to do the new milestones is ALOT more games of a role i dont particularly enjoy. You will just get people who don't care about the actual game and just tick off requirements and then not care about the outcome because we're being forced to do it.

  • No, there's legitimate reasons for leaving the lobby. No one should be penalised in any way when no one is being affected by someone leaving a lobby pre-game.

  • No bans would only cause queue issues. Plus how would you like it if you bought a DLC and barely got to play that character?

If your entire build gets countered by a single killer perk you have a very one trick build and its your fault for putting all your eggs into one basket. Besides, killer perks HAVE to be far stronger than survivor perks, because its a 1v4 game and you have 4x the amount of perks between you.

  • Yeah… i've got other games to dedicate my limited time too. If BHVR want to make the game a daily chore then I will no longer be playing or buying anything as DbD won't be the game I choose to play over the others.

Making the game feel like a job or tick box simulator for the sake of engagement is the fastest way to kill your game. I was able to spread my playtime and still enjoy the game and do the rifts with time to spare, but no longer i guess.

Looks like time to uninstall and play other things instead as i've lost my desire to touch the game with this update.

They probably won't but i hope BHVR learn that this type of exploitative, unethical stuff is NOT what we want. They had a great system going and have begun to ruin it and i will no longer support them.

When a survivor gets a claw trap, while the killer was far away, it’s considered an “unfair hit”, or a “hit out of nowhere”, because the claw trap injures them, but the “killer didn’t do anything to deserve it”.

So are trappers traps unfair because you ran into them on the other side of the map and you're now injured? What you basically just described is:

"Survivors fail to act appropriately against a killers power and get punished for it".

Survivor's running around blindly with zero sense of caution and triggering things isn't "unfair" on them. It isnt about if the killer "deserved" it, its about if the survivor deserved it for poor and reckless gameplay (and they did).

I guess trapper doesn't ever deserve his trap injuries by this logic.

  • There's just a ton of problems and flaws with this entire concept, that others have laid out in previous comments. This just sounds super clunky, overly complex for what it does and far too much hassle and effort with very little reward when you can simply play other killers and get results easier, better and faster, especially with the current pace of the game being so quick. Not to mention there's too much easy innate counterplay built into the power for survivors to simply make all your time and effort wasted, which just makes the killer weak and no one is gonna play her at all. It doesnt take alot to understand that killer players dont want their powers largely negated by survivors, its just poor design and frustrating to play with.

  • No its super easy actually, repair two normal generators, bring deja vu, and bring a map to cleanse at least 2 totems (more if you didnt solo repair the gens) and you're done. I did it in one try.

Nope not till killers learn to stop playing like they are winning a imaginary 10 million dollar prize I shall enjoy my bps or ani cakes stacking to 500+ on my p 100 Leon, Yoichi and finally my p100 Trevor I got yesterday.

I at least will use green envelopes which works for all my teammates but not killer which I wish they make survivors only bps. Also killers themselves be not even brining any bps, actually seem like 95% of my games killers either use map offerings or bring moris ( which I seen a big increase of when ghoul release and it not ghouls brining them its actually every other killer). Like that lame Myers who bought tombstone piece and got one of my teammates with it like why bro? God until that add on is nerf ill be a locker jockey vs every myers.

Oh please, the usual blame killer mentality when survivors are also playing like its life or death in a super sweaty comp match. Bully squads, Gen rushers, annoying SWFs, every other annoying survivor build and behaviour under the sun are out in full swing, so stop with the us vs them nonsense.

People are gonna play to win, both sides are bringing cobblers and BPS for the most part. Ive seen way more from killers than ive seen from survivors though, unless its obviously a SWF where of course they're stacked so benefit even more from spending their BP bonus items.

  • It (weave) already got nerfed, at this point you all just don't want to actually do any counterplay to anything. It's takes half the killers perks slots for a minor aura read thats easy to counter and to remove items that dont really hinder survivor much at all, theres better perks to take.

Legitimately a skill issues at this point.

  • I mean.. killer powers dont even work on the blood gens. Clearly tons of things weren't thought about for the event

  • I can understand multiple perk effects not stacking, because this stops excessive stacking on both sides, but it should stack with a killer basekit power because that's not an optional choice and denies perk viability and build versatility to killers while also creating dead ends in killer power design for the future.

Can lobby dodging not be allowed anymore? Like once you get into a pregame lobby, you can't leave? That would be nice, but if you guys were to do that the mmr would need to be fixed so teammates actually understand what they're doing and not trying to do Archive objectives or something (also make a casual and ranked gamemode)

You're not going to force people to play the game, they'd just close it instead to lobby dodge.

  • @100PercentBPMain said:

They probably wanted raw, pure data regarding alternate methods to base generators.

My guess is that bhvr is thinking of something to combat 3 gens or something by offering an alternate route. It'd be harder to get that data if survivors lose the will to be test subjects because Freddy with Pain Res/DMS keeps teleporting to the blood gens. No thank you

They could have simply kill switched gen regression perks in the event mode and let killer powers function as normal. Whatever data they get is functionally worthless because its already flawed as variables that should be there aren't as a fair amount of killers are excluded, because who the hell is playing gimped killers with half functioning powers?

They also already have mechanics to combat 3 genning.

No, more likely they just released an unfinished, untested event to try things using BP bonuses as bait rather than throw it in a PTB where it should have gone if they cant even get killer powers functioning properly for a live game mode.

  • It's a 4v1, of course the 1 must have the advantage over the 4.

  • @Prometheus1092 said:

Once again, gen speeds increase (blood gens) and people find killers camp, tunnel and slug more. How do people not see a connection here? Faster gens pop, faster killers need to kill. High mobility killers will usually opt for slugging because it's faster and other killers will camp and tunnel to make sure they eliminate 1 asap.

Because said people dont want to see the connection. They just want to strip away killer gameplay until they can get easy wins and make everything better for themselves at the expense of what should be the power role.

Mobility killers are just becoming the only viable killer in the game and its not going to end well for the game.

    Pallets slow him down.

Teleporting Slows him down if he's too close. If the survivor is moving he still quite a bit a ways from you. (Just like pinhead when you solve the box)

Predrop if he is in overclock mode. Don't if he is not.

Use emp if you are in chase with him or right before the chase starts. Dont waste emps. Take cover so he doesn't get free scans. Stay in cluttered areas, not in the open.

He is very easy to counter.

We all know the default survivor counterplay is to cry for nerfs! How dare you suggest such reasonable methods that actually involve learning and improving against specific killers! /s

    Good tips though

On the topic of drone hacking, is there a different approach - putting aside aura reading - that you feel would fit into this interaction while still maintaining a risk vs. reward?

The survivor successfully disabled part of her power, denying her its use and any pressure it would do. Why do they need yet another benefit on top of that? The reward is the power denied, the risk is the killer can take advantage while you are vulnerable. If that isn't enough to incentivise certain players that is a player problem.

And in the same way, the killer is already punished with the loss of their power, why do they need to be punished even more on top of that? The survivor reward should be denying the power and nothing else. The ever stacking punishments you heap on killers are a fundamental problem that really needs to stop because its what causes so many problems that you have to then keep bandaiding.

That 2.5% number seemed SUPER low to me. Just in general, you have ppl giving up against any killer in way more games than that and SM had probably the highest suicide rate. It really makes me skeptical about the accuracy of the stats. I have back to back instant suicide attempts sometimes when I play PIG, with on average it happening in probably 20% of matches.

Yeah agreed, i had it happen in EVERY SINGLE match i ever played as SM and as a survivor against her (which wasnt alot tbh because she was still a low pick rate killer). Im not buying the 2.5% statistic, there's gotta be a whole lot of giving up that was getting mixed into the kill rates, which also explains why it was so excessively high.

  • Well killer addons can't be randomised because they change how the killer plays and that will feel god awful. Now survivor items really should be, because stacking decked out items in a random mode is just stupid. I dont think offerrings should be either, especially if it'll randomly use ones you own that you dont want to use. They should be disabled and just give chaos shuffle a 50-100% BP bonus to compensate for lack of BP offerrings.

It is hilarious how you act as if survivors are winning the majority of their games or do I have to remind you almost every game the survivors lose even if they do everything right. And hell people have a lot of reasons to give up. I only give up against killers I do not wish to play against because they are either broken, unbalanced or absurdly annoying to the point I don't want to deal with them. Why should I deal with an obviously badly designed killer instead of going to another game for example? Or you know if they will be so strict I will just play the game with one life until I die cause why bother against Trickster, Singularity, Xenomorph or Knight or someone else who is either annoying, bugged or I can see the killer is MUCH MORE skilled than me? Why should anyone be playing against a 3000 hour killer player that sounds unfair on our side. Or you just don't care whats fair and you just care for the killer to be getting the easy kills. Most games are lost anyways.

Sounds like you should go and play a game you actually enjoy instead of trying to cherry pick matches for your own convenience. Ironically you just proved exactly why there should be more punishment.

I don't think this will solve much. All of the sweats will still play him. The only way Blight is ever significantly nerfed or made less appealing to play is if they finally do something with his basekit. I do think he needs to be nerfed in some way if only to encourage more killer diversity. A lot of people have suggested that people play him because other killers are too weak. We've tried buffing other killers and it hasn't stopped people from playing Blight. People play Blight because he's OP. Not because other killers are too weak.

No stop nerfing good killers and buff others and change game mechanics to the point high mobility basically isnt required to give significant pressure to stand a chance of winning against good survivors. Devs are allergic to nerfing survivor where it needs to be done though, especially in gen progression, because most survivors are bad at the game.

  • 2v8 is just garbage, itll be even worse with bots to fill in, its hilarious honestly. Just another time to do the bare minimum tome and not play the game.

Im not entirely sure where slugging is so rampant. I play every evening for several hours and everyone seems to be downing and hooking like normal. Granted this is what I see on my experience but seeing mass slugs is super rare.

It's the typical survivors exaggerating about something that barely happens to try and get more buffs rather than learn counter play.

  • Nah addons change how a killer works, survivor items do not, thats not particularly fun at all when you end up with a partially gimped power with poor addon generation. Not to mention add ons that affect the counter to the killers power like xenomorph turrets.

  • @ZeroEthics said:

Again plenty of hooks on the map…sabos usually get themselves killed anyways

I'm not saying this to be crude or rude, but this sounds like someone that either doesn't play much killer, or plays in lower MMRs. Anyone that plays killer on even descent MMRs has encountered "Sabo Squads". Plenty hooks on the map when they play 4 Petrified Oaks, running Breakout?

Sorry, but your response has convinced me that your request has nothing to do with actual balance, and more about you wanting to get rid of something you just don't enjoy.

Thats what literally every survivor whine thread is for lol, they don't want balance they want easy wins

  • Got it! Use more No where to hide! Maybe ill play nurse more as well :)

  • Gen progression perks just need to NOT stack together if they arent going to nerf them. Survivor gen efficiency is actually insane.

  • Lol what? Killers complaints are actively ignored 99% of the time, hell they usually make things worse. Meanwhile (reasonable) survivor complaints are dealt with promptly. Survivors have practically all the say in game balancing and you all still try and gaslight killers.

  • Buff ALL regression or NERF ALL progression to an equal state and stop it stacking. It's so lop sided towards survivor gen efficiency its actually insane.

But then thrill just becomes useless again. Better to change the mechanic as a whole, and fix the one part of it that is problematic, and now we have another viable perk and build that isn't just the same 4 slowdown perks every single game.

Or do you like running into pain res, dms, deadlock every game?

Then Thrill just becomes mandatory and running hex's without it is basically pointless as they'll be cleansed easier than ever.

Yeah thats kinda true, ig I forgot about that part, my recent few matches with xeno people didn't use turrets so ig I forgot about that lol but I still think the xeno should get a few addons that assists his tail power or the tunnels (at leasts something a bit more since we have a few already for the tunnels) for its power other than turrets, bc most of the addons focus the turrets, and the last 2 quarters of the addons focus on tunnels and misc things, but not so much for the tail itself (and I still this both iri addons are useless considering the timers and unlikely it is to get value)

But what did you mean by "the best things to take is the things to counter"?

Yeah if survivors arent using the turrets they're giving you free reign as its there to counter your power. I dont think the tail itself needs any help its already very strong, but yes many of its add ons arent good or useless (iri's). Xeno already has alot in its basekit though but addons do need a look at. Atm you take a mix of Lambent Star map, Emergency Helmet or Self Destruct Bolt so more choices would be nice.

But what did you mean by "the best things to take is the things to counter"

The best things to take will always be things to counter the flame turrets, as they are the only counter to your power. If you can avoid having your power countered and remain in crawler mode you have little trouble ending chases. Or you force them to place two turrets to cancel your power making them use up more resources in exchange.

  • Undetectable is kinda bad on Xeno, the turrets give away your rough proximity, any decent survivor will know you're coming.

The only thing that really hinders Xeno is the flame turrets, so the best things to take will always be things to counter them.

The problem with this is that OP is all over these forums and constantly:

    • Keeps begging for a mode proven to be BAD for game queues not only comes back but becomes the permanent preferred mode (subtly implying "screw you if you want to play 1v4 or any Killer aside from 8 characters, I don't care about YOUR fun only mine").
    • Keeps subtly implying in those same threads that anyone who doesn't want the mode back is a Killer Main (and thus is using that term to insult and call people sweaty for no reason, creating an us vs. them situation), doesn't like fun, or just doesn't care. This despite the fact people like this mode and surprise, Killer is more popular when you can play it with a friend, because Killer is the biggest draw to this game, because Survivor gameplay is kinda boring and samey after a while.
    • Insists the reason is "Killer Mains don't like fun" and "BHVR doesn't like fun they're too proud" when no, the real issue is the queue times and lack of anything for Survivor to do because 2v8 is quite simply a stripped down arcadey DBD experience. Always has been, always will be.

And that's why I directed at them. Because they're complaining about a mode that doesn't exist, is proven to be bad for the game, and prioritizes the fun of people who like this mode over the fun of anyone else who doesn't or simply just wants to play with Killers or the perks they paid for.

Most people who do like this mode and prefer it don't come here to complain about a limited mode going away (and coming back later), they simply make the logical choice to just not play until the mode they main is on, or they go back to 1v4 and deal with any sweaty games until the next mode like the rest of us. If you want to main this mode, fine, but you have to accept it won't be permanent and isn't going to come back for months, so if you truly cannot stand 1v4 you won't be playing for a while and should probably find another game.

People like OP just prove they don't actually like DBD at its core and want to warp the game into something they do like at the expense of everyone else. It's an incredibly unhealthy mindset to have towards a game, the most literal best advice someone can give is to go and play something else they do like instead of pushing for their preferences/demands to be met where they shouldn't be.
