I dont know if such a thread is really a good idea. You are claiming that a helping Survivor does not do any good, yet you are the one actively losing the game for the team because you decide to do an Incovation in the first place.

Yup if you are bringing invocation in solo q you are memeing and can't expect of others to not.

  • 'Anti camp' turning campers into proxy campers just made them more efficient if they also have mobility. I always forget the mechanic even exists if I'm not staring at the bar.

You don't get hit on hook I guess so they took care of bm'ing aspect of it.

  • Getting old affects your reaction time but I think it's probably matchmaking and map changes over the years. It also depends how much you play.

Don't fret too much. You can watch experienced survivors and how they run tiles if you want but honestly you don't have to do things like that if you don't want to. Play how you feel like playing and however you do it's fine.

  • Deliverance can help if it's your first hook.

As someone who has more hours on surv than killer tho, I would say no to your suggestion regardless. You can't expect killers to do anything else at the end really, and if you give surv on hook any kind of immunity it's too free with barely any counterplay depending how many teammates are left and hook position.

  • You can't expect others to play in ways you want them to but I understand how unfun dbd can be.

Running otr and ds ensures you will at least get some playtime even if you die. I know that doesn't sound like a solution but there isn't one. Especially not if you play alone. Don't expect to win often as surv if you vs experienced killers keen on winning.

What I do after a bad streak is do something random. For example sometimes I run wicked, ds, otr and try to convince the killer to open every locker in the basement after leading them there and unhooking myself. I even won games doing that because they waste time and get no pain res value lmao. Just do random things, with all the challenges and stuff it shouldn't be against the rules to have fun here and there after bad games. Or just take a break, dbd won't change anytime soon.

And you are not entitled to pick the easiest game possible for you. Killers cherrypicking their Lobby has to end at some point.

    @Topic:
Highly agree. Either it should be removed completely (e.g. by removing the pregame-Lobby) or it should be punished by a longer wait time. The more someone dodges, the longer it takes for them to find a game.

Removing the pregame-Lobby is the better solution tho - it would not increase wait times overall and once you have 5 players, you can go into the match immediatly.

Survs cherry pick too. As a console player I get dodged constantly by pc players because of the bad rep we have. Some of it is understandable I guess but it still sucks being treated like a leper just because of the platform I play on.

  • @Masterninja said:

Killer gameplay should be around hooks, not kills. While survivor gameplay should be about how much or how many actions you did during the match (repairing, being altruistic, duration of chases, etc…) and not wether you escaped the trial or not.

Funny how old rank matchmaking was less frustrating than what we have now. Sure you had different caliber of players reaching rank 1 but we had depip when your emblems sucked and there were no L streaks where you go against sweatlords 500 times in a row like a punching bag.

  • It's just a meme now. Game lost it's atmospheric aspect of the maps since they vacuumed the fog out of them.

Stealth is pretty much dead it's all about chases now. Too bad maps are slaughtered for that too and I see even good survs spending a lot of time misdirecting and holding w from one crap tile to another.

  • If you are on console you can play on different accounts for free, but if you win enough times you are going to be back in the same fodder faster than you think.

Still, facing baby killers while cute is miserable for them, so in the end it's the same thing just reversed recipent of misery.

SB, Lithe and possibly dramaturgy needs to be looked at etc.

I don't even know how someone could respond on killers complaining about Sprint Burst, Lithe or even Dramaturgy.

    Literally.

It's more puzzling because they have blight pfp. If it was one of the killers without mobility maybe I would understand, but he did say top killers need nerfs so maybe it's a trade lol.

  • @Mushwin Remember when you had the most downvotes first time they introduced this? It was hilarious ngl.

It's still funny when people get randomly downvoted for anything they say even non dbd related. It's memey and has comedic value that this forum lacks, not to be taken seriously.

I have to say @danielmaster87 seems to be the current champion tho, @Mushwin is dethroned.

  • Dbd has never been better for people that uninstalled it.

Balancing DBD is much more complex than maps, perks and base-kit powers.

But as you mentioned, the matchmaking is the real issue here, because the skill groups are way too large to account for the huge discrepancy between players within a single skill group (bracket).
Looking into the MMR system can tell you that the two higher brackets encompasses a much wider gap than the two lower brackets.

    • 0-650 (Bronze-tier / or roughly between the old ranks 20 to 14) - This is mostly reserved for the newest players who has about 100 hours or less put into the game.
    • 650-900 (Silver-tier / or between the old ranks 14 to 12) - Fresh accounts start out at 650 rating, or in the bottom of this tier. Wins/losses determines if you drop down into the beginner bracket or not. Smurfs who can easily win, will often end up skipping past this tier, and move into the next within a few matches.
    • 900-1400 (Gold-tier / or between the old ranks 12 to 7) - Most casual players will find themselves in this bracket, and this is commonly referred to "SoloQueue Hell", since the discrepancy between players is fairly large between 900 and 1400 MMR.
    • 1400-2100 (Iridescent-tier / or the old ranks between 7 and 1) - This is the most problematic bracket, since the 700 point gap between a casual player who has been winning enough to get here, to most likely a tournament player at the highest rating, is quite substantial.

Note that the matchmaking will prioritize finding players within your bracket first, before allowing players from different brackets to fill in the spots if it takes too long to find a match.
It starts out with a smaller point radius, but will quickly expand to encompass your entire bracket, and that means if you are unfortunate enough to be a soloqueue player stuck in the highest bracket, you are likely going to get steamrolled by a killer with several thousands of hours put into the game, or facing off against a "Seal-team" with tens of thousands combined hours if you are a casual killer.

Also, if the initial opponent leaves the lobby, the matchmaking will pick another player who is ready and waiting in queue. This backfilling of the lobby is often the root cause of unfair matches, since the backfilling prioritizes speed, and will pick any player waiting in line. This is sometimes the cause behind a soloqueue survivor being matched with "bad" teammates.

Anyways, I know it is a longer read, but this is at least from my standpoint what I have noticed being the most common issue with the matchmaking, and why the game quality has been in a downwards spiral ever since SBMM was introduced in the late part of 2021

I remember mmr being more strict when it came out. There was a short period when I had most fun and thought I was fairly matched.

I remember some content creators crying about it and now they seem happy since they are fed fodder over and over, stomping people with less hours and still calling it 'high mmr'.

It's bullshit that makes this game super unenjoyable sometimes.

Thanx for the input, all. I hate to sound like a whiny biznotch but this is pretty much the only game I play anymore. 8 years and over 1500 dollars into it, I don't find the same entertainment in any other game. It's the best. The initial feelings becoming a fleeting memory are depressing. I do go outside and see people, lol. This is just something I play. Admittedly, obsessively at times. It's an amazing game, just is.

It seems I am due for a break, I guess. I very seldom see it get to this point with the bm but do realize it comes from both sides. Killer main for the longest and lately been more survivor which seems to have more to complain when solo.

    Have fun, all.

Oh and for the record, I don't mind losing at all. I just want to play the game.

In my case the game gets frustrating the more I play it. Break will definitely help you come back refreshed and you won't be tilted easily.

  • I just take breaks, I can't play this game for prolonged periods of time. That's why I probably have only 2k hours on both roles combined since 2018.

  • Favorite horror villain.

  • You guys made me laugh today which is not common. I love your comments.

  • I feel your pain fellow killer main.

  • I do out of habit, but if I'm being honest banners and icons are cooler to me.

Charms are just too small and outfits are doing that role better since they sometimes have acessories on them that stand out. Helms, bags, instruments etc.

So let me guess, you are the top MMR compared to the rest of us, in the same way TrU3 is peak MMR and losing doesn't mean that he played badly, it just means the game is unfair so therefore he has to slug, right?

Even in the worst days for killer, you would still actually win most of your matches. Sure, you may have a run of bad games but if you are experienced you will know that this game can be very unfair due to pure RNG alone. However most of your opponents are going to be casual moderate to low skill survivors. It is very rare you face actual top tier survivors most of the time, no matter what you think your MMR is.

I may not be as high MMR as you or others as I just don't care that much anymore… but as I approach 6k hours I would like to think I am still reasonably competent enough to somewhat understand the game.

I saw his myers game where he poped t3 far away from survivor then complained when they had the time to hop in locker. Don't sell yourself short lol, arguing with someone who can't even play a simple killer.

And mmr, I went vs big streamers who play this game day and night for years, even when I go on L streaks as surv. Just the other day I went vs their guru and his obnoxious 'god build', that is why I laugh at "top mmr" claims. Most killer streamers are being fed fodder and have the nerve to complain even tho they rarely if ever lose.

This game and it's community is a joke. Whoever won't admit the power role switched a while ago is just pushing bias at this point, why shouldn't I troll or use strawman? What is the point of having serious arguments anymore when in the end everyone wants their side to stomp. I am not going to waste effort here anymore arguing with people who want to nerf survivors even more. I will just be an ezhole like they are.

  • Imagine the devastation of losing your w streak as killer. Truly terrifying.

Yeah, you are placed with them and thats miserable. tru3 actually plays pretty miserable.

I went against his vecna this month and that was total tunnel on 5 gens. This gameplay doesn't leave any breathing room for surviviors.

Same with me, last week i was matched against seth_kills and he chose to play haddonfield and alt+f4 happened.

I didn't felt that bad since I am used to getting stomped as survivor but you know his current slugging build so you can guess.

But it kinda sucks I have to be a fodder when I decide to play survivor and feed these people who play every day and have so many hours.

  • I literally faced tru3 the other day and he rarely losses if ever, while my escape rate is probably like 10% at best lol.

Mmr is trash, I also went vs other streamers like d3ad plays, cmwinter etc. who have over 10k hours while I don't even have 2k.

So she deserves some free hits+free trap especially when paired with Lethal Pursuer? Does anyone even main survivors here? Or is dbd only a game for killers? If so, then make one challenge for both roles!

You are obviously unfamiliar with my posts but I guess I was called both killer and survivor only player throughout my years here.

The truth is I played survivor more than killer in total but I did play both at least. Still, I can't complain about a pig just because I played survivor more like yourself. I am against nerfing already weaker killers especially with no compensation. And to be honest I don't consider amandas letter nowhere near broken on m1 killer.

  • It is a good add on paired with additional trap one. But come on it's pig, she deserves at least that.

  • At least some people get ratio'd like it happened in this thread. In general survivors should speak up more often if they want to have any semblance of fun in this game.

  • @GeneralV said:

    Terrible.

    I'm done with Freddy.

Damn. It is a shame they reworked him the way they did in the first place back then. Could have just do something about dream world instead so he doesn't get denied hits.

I am kinda glad they never reworked Myers. These new buffs made him pretty solid. I take it and my beloved tp over some crappy rework that would make him gf v.2.

  • Never liked the new freddy, I was hoping for complete rework not these adjustments.

I also always hated the visuals. Snares look like ketchup, fake pallets look ugly, dream world looks ugly. His power is boring to me as well. I play him sometimes but never actually liked it much. Among the weaker killers he is the most unfun to me. I just don't like his power at all.

  • I never cared either tbh. I was always more of a shard guy lol.

  • @p2bg said:

I've seen a couple threads on steam discussions today having the same issue, some poor guy has 200+ ping the last 6 days, another one close to 100. I do believe it's their servers, others complain that they have 50 ping when they had 30 or less.

I've also seen Ayrun's twitter post about having high ping despite what gamemode he plays on recently. But we never see anyone at BHVR addressing this issue which is far more important than minor bugs or adding more skinds.

"it's their servers, others complain that they have 50 ping when they had 30 or less."

I would mori for consistent 50 ping. First world problems :D.

  • Happened to me too recently. Everyone seems to have lower ping than me in my lobbies. Maybe because I live in third world shiethole with no servers close enough. I am not really playing other games atm so I dunno if it is dbd exclusive.

It does suck tho and messes me up at times.

I've been here since 2018, I know what tactical slugging looks like.

This isn't strategy. This is being done with the intention of making the game worse for survivors. And it needs to be fixed.

We laughed at Sluzzy with these photos but now we all live them.

    Sweet karma.

I agree, both sides behave badly though even as a survivor main I will say survivors tend to be worse. Though that also is a numbers thing since there are obviously 4x survivors for every killer

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3860050#Comment_3860050

That is how I feel it is, they have no intention of playing matches normally, the agenda is to inflict misery in any way possible.

It isn't even a discussion about slugging as such, this is just the mechanic unsportsmanlike people use to inflict misery and grief others but there are no consequences for this

I don't think survivors are worse at all except some toxic swf's on comms. For the simple fact that solos don't really hold any power unless killer is super outmatched with less xp/hours. I am not saying they are good people (will elaborate later) but killers have more means to be toxic now and are exercising it.

As a killer the amount of survs bm'ing through the game went down a lot for me compared to a time when survivors were able to mess around and still win. For example tbagging after pallet drops was super common because tiles were super safe and plenty. What I notice now is as long as I'm dominating survivors are rarely toxic, but if some of them feel any kind of power over me they get cocky and bm. Still, my survivor matches are the ones that are usually miserable and L streaks can go on and on and being humiliated and bm'd for the simple fact that I am not as strong as when I play killer. So I am left being a toy for despicable people.

Allowing survivors to lose bleed out faster from failed attempts, gives survivors yet another way to ragequit in a way that bypasses DC penalties. That's bad. We have enough survivors using hooks to bypass DC penalties, and we don't need to make this problem worse.

Should we force people to be entertainment for killers then? Endure the humiliation for their own amusement? They also do this when they win the game, bleeding people out for 0 reason instead of finishing it.

  • Killers are showing their true nature with their newfound power role. They act like survivors did many years ago.

Shows there are no innocent sides, just people with god complex with the intent to make others miserable living out their fantasies in video games.

  • Years ago when I was looking forward to more balanced maps and killer buffs I never expected this joke tbh.

You need to be magician to work with todays "loops". Best bet is try to missdirect with Los and run from shiet tile to shiet tile until you go down.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3859265#Comment_3859265

    I agree.

Not just because 2019 DBD before Freddy's rework was peak (a fact, not an opinion), but because you would completely eliminate the problem of maps giving you almost nothing to work with.

Especially Coldwind Farm. I really miss the time those maps weren't a death sentence.

The funny thing is back when the roster was pretty small and m1 killers with no mobility were common to face, maps were in survivors favor. But now when maps are smaller, deadzones and swiss cheese tiles… we have a lot of killers with powerful kits who can decimate if they sweat.

  • @bleep275 said:

if they go afk and do nothing, they can actually get nailed with the DC penalty even if theyre there the whole match.

I saw some just spam m1 or use their powers in weird way like they are bots. I think some of these people farm accounts and sell them.

  • I already play him less because Myers outperforms him. Why do we need to nerf weaker killers without any compensation like they did with chucky recently?

    I say no.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I have not seen a Killer who was AFK the whole match in months. And this might not even have been intentional, sometimes people really forget that they queued up, especially if queue times are long. I have seen Killers who went AFK when the match did not go their way, but this is whatever I guess. But not that a Killer was AFK from the start.

I also rarely see farming Killers, but even if a Killer wants to farm, you can just do Gens and escape. At least this is how I am doing it, I dont care about farming and I usually do not farm, so I will just do Gens and dont engage with the farming and so far it went well all the time.

It happens in "lower mmr". I played this game on different accounts and this is actually really prevalent shortly after you just start as survivor. Very obnoxious and I am surprised bhvr doesn't ban these people. Might be because people who play this game a lot eventually go above said "mmr" and don't really experience it anymore. I never experienced this on my main surv acc as well but when I played on fresh ones I did.

  • Playing survivor. It's pure masochism since 2022, wouldn't recommend.

  • As someone who probably talks more to AI than real people nowadays it came up quickly lol. I am used to bots at this point.

So survivors are OP because killers can't get on infinite streaks?

Momo got to 1947 wins a row - yes you read that right - he literally won for 2 years straight, even with comp SWFs sniping him.

What number would you like ideally, to consider the game balanced? 1 000 000 ?

Future dbd will be balanced around killer streaks if not already.

  • Dette for me, her scream reminds me of toxic players from old dbd and I find it funny still.

Steve's scream is annoyin, he is like an annoying bird.

  • People who think Myers is among the worst are sleeping on tombstone piece or playing him incorrectly, which is weird since he is quite simple.

I am not saying he can't be bad but someone who can delete a survivor from a match without even hooking them can't be bottom tier regardless if it's add on or not considering how much bps we get nowadays.

He is also buffed to the point you can tier up constantly if you play him normally. Lock of hair is another great add on now, he is still m1 with it but it's very good.

I just can't see Myers below mid tier now even as m1 killer. And if he released today he would never get add on as strong as tombstone piece. "Nerf" to this add on is negligible with base kit buffs.
