  • Got some pics to show this phenomenon?

I'm not understanding where these gens are.

  • There we go. "bootlicker" "shill" "white knight".

No, it's called not being unreasonable.

Why don't you take a step back, and look at who is hurling the insults around here? Hint: it's not Mandy.

You can criticize BHVR all you like, they've made a lot of questionable decisions lately, and the 'grind reduction' is definitely "2 steps forwards 1 step back", but at least try and find a way to do it without resorting to childish insults. If you can't criticize with civility, then your criticisms will be completely dismissed, you're ultimately playing yourself and making your side look like the guilty party.

And make sure you know exactly what you're talking about when using the term 'gaslighting'. If there's something you're missing, you can end up being the one gaslighting.

BHVR's stance here, trying to go back on what they clearly said, is gaslighting and toxic.

No it's not. It's nitpicking and trying to 'catch people out on a technicality'.

They didn't introduce the MMI as a replacement for BBQ/WGLF. The fact that one increases BP gained while the other reduces BP gained doesn't mean they were planned in tandem, they don't fulfil the same role, one was an incentive to run certain perks, the other is an incentive to play a certain role, they just happen to have occurred in the same patch. That's literally all Mandy has said.

Accusing people of 'gaslighting' when they're stating their intentions is toxic, and ironically gaslighting itself.

They're going to add bots in the future anyway. So if DC's still happen you'll get a bot for a teammate :)

I don't know about bots, but it would be neat if a DC'd survivor remained in the game for about 30 seconds or so, with a clear indicator they've actually DC'd, maybe their entire character turns greyscale and they still get the DC icon over their portrait with a countdown clock around it.

This would allow; killers to still make hooks and gain value from hook perks, survivors to complete heals/unhooks for points/challenges and gain value from perks that require heals/unhooks, and would eliminate DCing for the hatch.

This is dangerous. I have such good muscle memory if I get even slightly tilted I can autopilot those d/c clicks in less than a 1.5 seconds.

That's a bad thing in itself.

They should at least make it more cumbersome to DC, add in another confirmation screen that defaults to 'No' or something.

  • It's gotta be Alien surely. We keep getting told it absolutely won't happen, even though it absolutely should.

I'd also be up for The Shining, although I'm not sure how good, or how unique, Jack Torrance would be as a killer. Overlook would make an awesome map though, or set of maps even. Like RPD is now going to be two versions, there could be a version with an upstairs, and another version with the maze.

I'm thinking a Doctor Sleep chapter could work better though. Rose "The Hat" (she even has he title already) could be a fairly unique killer, and Danny could have Wendy as a legendary skin. they could absolutely go all in on 'the Shining' as a power this way, giving Rose some kind of psychic or astral-projection skill, and Danny would have perks that compliment it, maybe suiting a Boon.

Edit: It would also be neat if the Overlook had a gimmick in that the ghosts randomly appear, like RPD has the zombies breaking in through the windows.

How is your comment relevant in the topic??

You've opened an idiom dictionary and posted the first you've found on the list or sth?

    And I'm no karen kiddo.

It shouldve been told to us IN GAME well before the patch.. I wasn't informed at all and I was 100% robbed

    Nobody lost anything.

Not gaining something extra is not the same as losing something.

  • His power sounds like it could be as good as Blight, but it also sounds like there's a lot of different things going on, which could end up being as effective as Freddy...

  • ^ there we have it. All their characters were level 50 P0, so they transferred across as level 50 P0.

But they were "robbed" of the three prestige levels they didn't get because they didn't inform themselves of the transition conditions.

  • David and Dredge. Both P6 with every perk available as I correctly interpreted the prestige update conditions and made sure to get all my other characters to P2 or 120 perk tiers.

  • @Sparks741420 said:

    I WAS ROBBED DON'T SAY I WASNT

    Ok you were robbed.

In the same way as I was robbed when the guy who bought the lottery ticket before me scored a winning ticket and I didn't.

  • I ran OtR for about 20-30 games before I gave up on it because I wasn't tunnelled once.

Just wants to rage? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I put in 2-3000 hours into this game but i'm expected to be in the forums or on social media in order to get valid news? NO, this shouldv'e been stated IN GAME. And I have been absolutely ROBBED. I WILL NOT accept any other explaination.. So go find someone else to troll.

    You have not been robbed.

You feel entitled to something you didn't get, because you didn't inform yourself as to how to get it.

You are no worse off than you were before the patch, you just didn't gain all the same bonuses as other players who were more informed than you did.

You didn't complete the prerequisites to gain those additional prestige levels, so you didn't get them. That's it. That's what you're raging about, your own ignorance.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

To be fair, I recall the prestiging early = 2 extra levels after thing being a bit of a last minute update.

By "last minute" it was over a week, as I said. Before that it was 1 additional level for prestige, and everything about perk tiers was the same, for over a month.

  • @Zeidoktor said:

To quote myself from your other thread on this matter:

Just to ask the obvious question, did you unlock the "locked" perks as teachables without ever Prestiging? Alternatively, do those "locked" perks not show up in bloodwebs when leveling? Or in the loadouts of characters who didn't have them previously?

Because you said "numerous perks [you] once had unlocked now completely locked", and this is actually normal for a character that was never prestiged and wasn't leveled enough to auto prestige upon conversion, but if you leveled then enough to unlock them as teachables they should be present in characters, at least in yellow if they didn't already have them higher.

A common mistake I've seen people make is not realizing the what you've previously unlocked stays unlocked. So any characters you leveled solely for teachable unlocking should still have teachables unlocked and added to everyones' inventories.

Addition: It sounds like you did have some characters prestiged, do their perks not show up? Do those specific characters' perks show up in others' inventories and/or bloodwebs?

He's not interested in answering this honestly, he just wants to rage.

so no we were not all warned of jack... Only ppl who were in forums or some 'other' communication other then the actual game itself.. The FACT is... 1 button click SHOULD NOT make the difference of nearly 200 Million bps worth of prestige... Who ever decided that rounding down was a "fair conversion" was off their rocker!!

I was not "Warned" about anything.. I simply logged on and lost hundreds of millions bps worth of prestige. Never in the "news" section of the game when you boot it up did it say I was going to lose everything if I didn't click 1 button... That's absurd.

    Screenshot_20220805-235949_Gallery.jpg

This was all over the forums and social media for over a week before the update.

  • "For Example.. I had Ash P2 lvl 50 (which is basically P3 - minus 1 click of a button!!) after this update, He is now a P6 and a full 3 prestige lvls away from what my P3's converted to. 3 full lvls of prestige at the value of a few red icons that nobody can really even see? HOW IS THIS NOT A BIGGER ISSUE?!?!?"

Why didn't you click that button? That's entirely your fault. We were all warned how the system would work.

You were not robbed of those 3 prestige levels, you forfeited them.

If that's the sort of thing you've factored into your "maths", then your figures are completely invalid.

  • They're fine.

Basically the same loops from Ormond/Yamaoka with a different dressing.

    Nothing to write home about.

It's not a survivor only problem tho, I've had a lot of Killers DC lately as well

One of them DCed at 3 gens and whinged in the EGC about genrush despite both gens being done quite a time apart.

Survs just make up the bulk of it due to ratios and such

Like a killer DCing is an instant win so I'm not complaining about it but it's anticlimatic to make a good play in chase and the killer goes "im done lol" and pulls the plug.

Maybe it's because I tend to play killer a bit more than survivor, but I can't say I experience it all that much from killers.

If I was even keeping track, I could probably count all the killers who have DCed against me in the past year on one hand.

Survivors however, have learned to use the DC as a 'weapon' in a way that killers simply don't need to. Killers can just decide to camp, or open the exit gates themselves, or go into farming mode, etc.

This. If you don't want to play, don't play. Don't sign up to play then quit 2 minutes in.

Do not queue up in the first place.

It's a game filled with straight up unfun garbage that's been left to fester for years. You can't expect 4 people to happily put up with the third double range Starstruck Nurse in a row, or a Plague stacking four slowdowns and humping a 3 gen for the entire match. You can't expect people to put up with getting literal migraines from Clown and Doctor.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3115897#Comment_3115897

It sure is. I could either play a deeply irritating match, or I could just, not.

Survivors have a terrible "I don't want to play this game" problem, that I haven't seen this bad anywhere else.

    Killer I don't like? DC

    Map I don't like? DC

    Got injured first? DC

Ran every meta perk, Gideon map offering, four flashlights, teabagged at the exit but still got downed and hooked? DC

What are you classing as "deeply irritating" that it warrants screwing over 3 other players and sitting out for 5 minutes for the sake of saving up to 60 seconds? I'm willing it bet it's nowhere near irritating enough to warrant that. FYI, both the hook timers and the bleedout timer are shorter than the minimum matchmaking ban for a DC.

Survivors need to realise that DCing when there's something you "don't like" is the equivalent of throwing the monopoly board across the room when you land in Jail and storming off in a huff.

I have never seen a survivor DC and thought "good on them, they're getting out of an unpleasant situation", I've only ever been deeply embarrassed on their behalf.

  • That first 5 minute ban is pretty fair, you need to take into account accidental DC's as well. Otherwise one faulty internet connection could put a SWF out of action for most of an evening.

But I'm good with the 2nd DC going straight to 30 minutes, skipping the 10 and 15. You take the first 5 minutes as a warning, you either fix your internet or you're prepared to sit it out if it happens again.

I'm literally shocked and disgusted by how toxic you are towards the community. The grind reduction BS has been mathematically debunked multiple times using calculations and even excel spreadsheets. You don't even need f'ing spreadsheets to notice that your "grind reduction" reduces the grind for veteran players. New players are screwed up more than ever. I don't even feel like playing a single match since the amount of BP I get (~38k per game) is absolutely trash. I would have to farm for over 28 hours to get ONE character to P3 and REMEMBER!!!! We have to prestige p0-p3 every character one after another in order to make the most of the new sick system.

    I'm done.

Calm down there Karen, stones in glass houses.

Wait what with spine chill? I thought I could finally play all seeing wraith without Survivors magically knowing I was behind around the corner...

    What happened?

They added a proximity sensor to Spine Chill, that activates with TR, but they also left in the 36 meter activation feature that ignores TR. So whether you're facing them or not, detectable or not, as long as you're within 36m, they know.

  • @Chaos999 said:

    What's wrong with band aids?

Then the issue are the changes, not the ability to suicide on hook. Removing the option to suicide/higher punishes for DC may just drop players even more.

Soloq should be buffed. That is the real issue. End of story.

SoloQ does need, and always has needed, some quality of life enhancements.

But the recent patch didn't do nearly as much damage as some survivors are whining about. It is still more than playable, if survivors would actually play it. But unfortunately it just takes one sore loser (of which there is an abundance) to bring the game down for the rest of the team.

  • It will always be survivor sided at high levels and killer sided at low levels, and it has to be to maintain some sort of balance in the middle. Just due to the nature of how coordination factors into team gameplay, and how that translates to an asymmetrical game.

  • @AnchorTea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3115541#Comment_3115541

Why do you think people will suicide?

Edit: To add, why do you think people ARE suiciding in hook?

    Because they feel hopeless.

    Why do they feel hopeless?

Because they got used to a certain way of playing and refuse to adapt to changes.

I'll repeat again. I've been a de facto solo survivor main since the patch inflated killer queue times. Now that most of the tantrum throwers have actually given up playing instead of sabotaging games, It's absolutely fine. If you don't play like a complete tool by rushing the killer and relying on second chances to save you from your teabag induced tunnelling.

  • Yes, lets nerf Blight and Nurse.

Then survivors will have five other killers that are the 'top killers' that they can complain about until those get nerfed too.

  • @SwayerNewb said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3115117#Comment_3115117

How can updates help new players earn BP and create perks set for loadout? It does not reduce the grind by about 75% for new players and current players who main 5 characters or less. The grind is reduced by about 20-50% at best depending on when they are starting to play DBD but you basically removed 20-50% by removing BBQ/WGLF stacks. BP without BBQ/WGLF or matchmaking incentives are very slogged because you can only get 25k average BP for the killers or 15-20k average for the survivors. If the survivors get camped or tunnelled, they are SOL. They are not even enough BP for bloodweb level when the characters are level 15+.

The way they've changed the progression system, it's not actually possible to assign any flat number to it. Some aspects of the grind have increased, some have decreased, and that's depending on how you approach it.

As far as flat perk acquisition goes, the grind is generally reduced, in some ways slightly, in other ways massively.

As far as item/add-ons go, it's remarkably worse, but they have said they're going to address this. Would have been good to have addressed it at the same time because it's definitely something that was forseeable, but it's better than nothing.

  • @Biscuits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3114208#Comment_3114208

When you are a soloQ player who has never been in the power role. Alright dude, enjoy your queues, ill enjoy choosing which games I play out.

I've been a de facto solo survivor main since the patch came out because killer queues are too long.

Solo is absolutely fine. I escape >50% of my games, and even ones I don't usually the exits are opened and someone escapes.

Its not just about DH sure, but the changes overall mean that survivors have to play more cautiously, instead of rushing the killer with second chances and flashlights and teabagging their way to victory. So yeah, the 'survivors' who have given up playing survivor are absolutely having a tantrum, and frankly solo survivor is better without them. I'm sure they're all currently camping with Bubba instead.

But that's besides the point. Even if the game was perfectly balanced, it's just a fact of the game's format that queues will be uneven. You need 4x as many survivors than killers for matchmaking to work effectively, and evenings are disproportionately SWF favoured because that's when groups are more likely to be available at the same time. Which means queue role incentives would be a benefit anyway. To get more playing killer in the evening, and fewer playing killer during the day.

  • I prefer stealth survivors over "run up in your face and bodyblock, 360 whiff all your attacks, clicky flashlight, teabag after every pallet" survivors.

  • Agree'd, Self care was never a strong perk, it was a useful perk for new and solo survivors. Basically the survivors you want to benefit from any potential buffs or reworks.

  • Escaping now gives you +7000 instead of +5000. So just escape and you're good.

That said, I think I would have preferred it if they gave bonus survival points for actions taken in game, such as taking protection hits and then escaping chase, or safe hook rescues.

First of all, the claim of it being twice the size of Mother's Dwelling is fallacious at best since end-to-end (east to west), RPD would still take less time to get to each side. Even if it did take more time, you need to remember that Mother's Dwelling is a giant box, while RPD is a thin rectangle, so north to south would make RPD even smaller, even if "combined".

Second, my method of ascertaining the size of the current RPD was simple: use Scratched Mirror Myers as a reference. Since his maximum aura reveal range is 32 meters, I used that as a basis once I saw that he could see a Survivor from nearly end-to-end (north to south, corner-to-corner) in the main hallway, give or take a few meters.

Then I decided to be generous and measured the main hall from north to south as 36 meters (with a 4 meter margin for error either way), then used that to start determining the area of each section of the RPD; main hall (as one entity), 1F west hall, 2F west hall, 1F east hall, 2F east hall. Other areas were also measured including the exit gate areas.

After that, I decided to calculate the areas of every section, add them up and got my results. Depending on which way you want to spin it, the RPD is one of three estimated sizes from where I calculated things:

    • 4699 square meters (if the main hall is 32 meters; this is likely impossible)
    • 6164 square meters (if the main hall is 36 meters)
    • 7899 square meters (if the main hall is 40 meters)

Even in the worst-case scenario where I'm 8 meters off and it's 44 meters, that only makes the map 9915 square meters, almost a staggering 2000 square meters less than Mother's Dwelling. (By the way, if it was twice the size of Mother's Dwelling, it would be 24,064 meters large).

I'm most confident, however, between either the 36 meter range or the 40 meter range from end-to-end from my observations, ergo either measurement would be best for reference in RPD's size.

But you asked, so I thought I'd give my methodology behind it because the people at the wiki can't do their jobs I was mostly curious about the size myself since release.

Are you factoring in the three levels?

For example, Gideon and Midwich which each have two floors, are roughly 4000 square meters each.

RPD has in some places three levels, the areas without multiple levels likely round it out to an average of two levels. So at 6000 square meters, this would make it over 12,000 in total, making it the biggest map in the game.

Personally I'm expecting something a bit like this:

    rpdeast.png

This would probably put it roughly on par size/orientation-wise, to Midwich and Gideon. Actually it's kinda like an inside-out Midwich Instead of having two levels around the outside of a central courtyard, you three! levels would be roughly the center of the map, with the single level areas (outside courtyards and main hall) stationed around it.

  • My solo survivor games have been fine. I escaped 4/6 games last night, all through the gate, no hatches.

  • Mother's Dwelling

    Shelter Woods

    Rotten Fields

    Blood Lodge

    Pale Rose

  • Bubba, Oni, Deathslinger, Trickster.

Haven't bought (but have all their perks from the Shrine) but would refund if I had bought them: Clown, Blight and Twins.

being slowed down for half a second while you place a bird and being slowed down the entire time you walk around a loop is absolutely a massive difference.

Doesn't make a difference if you get the down anyway.

  • I'm still escaping half my solo survivor games, and still getting wrecked by SWF in half my killer games. So yeah, game's pretty much the same, besides all the players having tantrums.

  • With all Nurses, Blights and Huntresses, you must be at a fairly high MMR.

I literally never see Nurse, well maybe 1 out of 100 games. My games are also much more event than yours. I escape about 60-70% of the time, though half the time as the last survivor or via the hatch.

  • Map offerings are the only things that make stealth killers, especially Mirror Myers, viable.

Frankly, I think maps should be a part of the killers build, not something the survivors can choose for their advantage. This is after all the entity's realm.

So I think survivor map offerings should be uncommon (yellow) offerings that give you a 25% chance of going to a certain map. So if survivors really want to guarantee it, they should bring all four.

I'd also rather map offerings were hidden rather than removed. Most of the 'gripes' people have with map offerings are knowing that they've been sent there, yet when they get the very same maps through pure luck, they don't care. So if you just didn't know, there wouldn't be a problem.

  • Mirror Myers, Impossible Skillcheck Doctor, and any Wraith or Dredge build based around Make Your Choice.

  • Because it's not triggered actively, it's triggered passively.

Jumping in a locker is something you could conceivably do when being tunnelled, and if you have DS, even more so. Which just so happens to be the same trigger for Inner Healing.

DS/OtR/MoM deactivate through Conspicuous Actions. The key word being Actions. You can't jump in a locker but choose to not get healed via Inner Healing, because it's a passive effect.

  • I'm gonna blow some of your minds with this but... the most fun tactics for one side, are often the least fun tactics for the other side.

The kindred basekit without killer aura is the most important step. A player on the hook sometimes don't understand that waving means killer is camping, and does this to tell people that no one is coming for me. We need to cut down on confusions like this and give survivors tools to see where other survivors are at times. Empathy is another perk that could more or less be basekit.

    This isn't a 'thing' anymore.

It might have been back when DBD was relatively small and niche, and behaviours were well communicated. But there is nothing inherent about 'waving your arms' that says "Killer is here".

I'm against giving aura reading as basekit, as this can be more powerful than voice comms, which means it would only buff SWF as well.

I'd much rather they introduce a 'Survivor Instinct' effect. Like Killer Instinct for survivors.
