I can chime in here.
Being afraid has nothing to do with it, it's more to do with time management and priorities. Large scale Killer reworks require a huge amount of time between designers, programmers, and QA. In order to do these types of large Killer reworks, we need to sacrifice on other things such as new features, perk balancing, etc. In a perfect world where we could squeeze as much as we want into a single update, these sorts of reworks would probably be more common, but sadly that is just not possible. Everything comes with a tradeoff.
As for why these sorts of reworks aren't the highest priority, this is where it gets a bit more complex. First off, we're at the point where there are 32 Killers in the game and counting. Even assuming that each Killer is played exactly equally, this would mean that each Killer is only seen in a little over 3% of all matches. Spending a significant amount of time on an update that only affects ~3% of matches is harder to justify when it means sacrificing new highly requested features or a bunch of perk updates which could impact all matches.
Beyond that, there is only so much we can do to make a Killer appealing to everyone. Different Killers focus on different playstyles. Some may be focused on setting traps, others on keeping Survivors busy, some on chases, and so on. These different playstyles can help fill different niches. A newer player who's having a hard time finding Survivors might be drawn to The Doctor, for example. Naturally, certain playstyles become more successful in high end matches and others fall out of favour. Experienced Survivors, for example, are less likely to stumble into a trap because they know what to look out for and can predict where the Killer may have placed them. Each power also has a different skill ceiling, so while some allow you to continue improving almost endlessly, others have an upper limit by virtue of their design.
Making each Killer equally strong at the highest skill levels is not the goal. Dead by Daylight is for everyone, not just the few at the very top. Often times these Killers are already doing pretty well in the vast majority of matches even if they fall out of favour in higher end matches. In these cases, buffing these Killers to the point where they are competitive in a high end match would cause them to be far too strong in the majority of matches. This is a net-negative change. While yes, it may be better for you, it makes things worse for the majority of players. Everyone's experience matters, not just those with more skill. In reality, it is not possible for every Killer to be equally viable at all skill levels.
Something else that we need to consider are the players who already enjoy these Killers the way they are. Legion is a perfect example of this. There's no shortage of suggestions to rework The Legion's power to make them stronger. Yet in spite of this, The Legion is consistently one of the most played Killers. While they might not be the strongest in high end matches, there is still a large crowd who enjoy them as is. That raises the question, is it worth reworking a Killer that many people already love to play just to make people who don't play them happy?
The Trapper is also a special case. He's the poster boy, front and center on all the artwork. He's the Killer you'll face and play during the tutorials, and he's unlocked by default. This is all very intentional; new players are naturally going to gravitate towards him. His power is very simple and easy to understand, and it tends to be fairly balanced in matches between newer players. He serves a special role of being a stepping stone toward learning the game. Because of this, his power is intentionally kept as simple and intuitive as possible (pick up a trap, set a trap), and he is intended to be fairly balanced in these sorts of games.
All this said, that doesn't mean we'll completely ignore these Killers. We do make smaller balance changes on a regular basis, and larger reworks are still planned to release from time to time. But we do need to keep everyone in mind when making these decisions and consider the role they currently fill in the game, as well as whether or not our time would be better spent on balance changes that could affect all players rather than a select few matches. It would be a different story if there were only a handful of Killers to choose from, but the roster is fairly big at this point. The goal isn't so much to make every last one of them perfect for everyone, it's to make sure that there's at last few options that appeal to everyone, regardless of how they play.
Ok I accidently went back a page and deleted my entire response/question so I'll keep it short and to the point.
Surely, bhvr doesn't consider GF and legion to be reworks right? They got minor base-kit buffs and large add-ons passes, there was no massive kit change like OG doctor. Just want to know what bhvr thinks a rework is.

It is a normal gameplay mechanic.
A couple days ago, I was the second to last survivor, on my first hook. The other survivor was spotted heading towards me for the rescue and had to run off. So I took my chances and successfully unhooked myself.
I ultimately ended up dying because the other survivor went dow, was slugged and the killer found me on an exit gate but still. The mechanic was used, normally.
So... should I have been punished for that?
Or should they just remove all opportunities to unhook yourself?
Get rid of Slippery Meat and Deliverance, Up The Ante and all luck offerings.
Deli is fine the others have no place in the game anymore. I have unhooked myself twice when my teamates weren't able to get the save recently but I still don't think it should exist.

My survivor lobbies are a 50/50 but never the worst. Killer literally sends me to brazil.

I wait a day to see ok console blight so far everyone I faced have been bad. I looped even P100 console blights 5 gens. Maybe it's skill issue for us but I do think the skill required is way too much compared to pc. We don't have 4000 dbi and 120 smooth fps+.
I mean I play on 1200 dpi, it's all about how fast you can move you mouse. The framerate I will give to you, that is a sad reality of all console players, although I play on 100fps because it feels smoother in dbd(only game I can say that about). Shoulder flicks though are a mitigation to the lack of really fast mouse movements, it doesn't matter if someone try to spin or wiggle you if you literally don't have to turn your camera in any direction. I have watched lilith do live reviews of console players on subathon streams, the max potential is definitely less but that doesn't mean you can't be an oppressive killer vs many many survivor teams.
Keep in mind, anything but a shoulder flick, even on pc is not guaranteed.

It feels like every other game at least the killer is Wesker. It should honestly be called "dead by Wesker" at this point. What is it that makes Wesker so appealing to a large portion of killer players?
He is the first killer in a long time to be a decently mobile, very high skill ceiling, fun and interesting killer to play as. If you ask me and probably about 30% of all killer players, he's the only good design since blight which is over 2 years now.
I can't tell people to enjoy playing against the same thing constantly as I quit dbd for a bit even with a high wr back in april 2022 because every survivor was running the exact same build. But people don't realize survivor loadouts are equivalent to killers in general.

I'm pretty sure the game can track how frequent someone kobes. That combined with multiple reports should lead to harsher punisment. Think about how other games handle this. There are a lot of games that will not allow you to dc in the middle of the match and there is a punishment for throwing the game or being afk as well.
That is in my opinion how BHVR should handle this situation too.
I mean simple bloodpoint tracker when out of chase after 25 seconds, over (to be safe) 100 hours. BOOOOOOM, people can't afk/ throw/whatever ect. I have said this 4 or 5 times and no one has responded because I guess it's usually directed at people who defend hook suicides and dcs.
League will suspend you for 2 weeks on a first time offence for saying a slur, afking a decent amount, leaving literally just twice.
But hey I watch vets on these forums defend suiciding/dcing like it should be a normal game play mechanic.

I feel like every killer player have said this at least once before realizing how high of a skill floor Nurse has. Your not just gonna lose those first bunch of matches. You might not even get a hook/hit. If you have a 20 game lose streak, I feel like you might be struggling with some of the basic parts of killer gameplay that swapping to Nurse isn't going to fix. How much time do you spend LOOKING for survivors? Roughly how many hooks do you get and how many chases do you start? How often do you drop chase with a survivor to go pressure somewhere else?
Nurse has the highest skill floor but that skill floor should be no farther than 10 games out with even mediocre talent. I have probably played 25 games of nurse since I started playing 2 years ago, I have lost once or twice. Yeah, what a high skill floor. Don't try and pull the mmr bit like my blight didn't run only a full meta build and alch-ring green-speed in the months leading up to my first nurse game, she was well above the threshold.
Not defending op btw since he clearly is doing something wrong to feel this way.

I though u were the best killer... nurse ceetainly is better on console than blight. I don't hit anything on blight and survivor spin every hit. On nurse however I win most games. I really enjoyed startstruck on her. But im on xbox series S she works lot smoother but still pc nurses has few advantages. I think blight anyway is worst killer to play on console.
You can use blights power for only map traversal and impossible to dodge hits because spins don't do anything to a shoulder flick regardless of platform(unless 100+ ping is a factor for anyone). Blight is not the worst killer on the console, the only thing gated for console blight is extremely fast bump logic. Probably under a 100 blights in total doing "Extremely fast bump logic" though. So yeah, skill issue. If it's that much of a problem run c33 and be nemesis with 2.3X map traversal speed lmao.

People who hook suicide often would no longer be allowed to dc as often.

Nurse. Her power is super engaging for both sides once you understand it, and her design is one of the few I fin actually scary.
I mean, I hate to burst peoples bubble but if a nurse safe blinks at anything but a bad tile for her it's free.
It's not even like nurse has the potential learning curve on survivor side like blight does. The learning curve exists but doesn't even lick blights feet to say the least.
Even though blight requires far more for survivors to be good against than I would ever ask, you can still just throw pallets. Nurse on the other hand has far less to learn and relies on rng. Such a meh outdated character, so unfortunate.
Even then my 1500 hour survivor main friend has never seen a patient blight besides me and can, even through his own biased as a previous nurse main tell me that.
Nurse isn't hard, rng either carries the survivor or the killer piloting nurse is simply bad. Blight has infinite counterplay that is limited to on the fly collision for either side, nurse takes 5 games to start 4king 90% of your games without watching anyone play her.
She isn't unskillful in dbd's context but if it wasn't' dbd she would be easily.
I was probably too harsh here but that's how it is. Nurse is 90% of the time on the killer to mess up.
It really is hard to believe people ever thought she was hard though, that is going too far in terms of over exaggeration.

Holy, where is plaything and pentimento based on your claim, what the, sloppy 13%.
Wow, look at survivor perks, 30% usage rate.
Idk which one is more stale than others
Man, killers on nightlight are so nice running bbq/lethal so much.

@Roaroftime said:
Over 90% of my rounds I see killers using pain res, deadlock, sloppy butcher, pentimento and play thing. These perks are SO boring for gameplay, especially pentimento which is insanely overpowered because solo q teammates lack the logic of going back to a totem they cleansed and leave other teammates to do it despite not knowing where the totem is.
Also with these perks being the killer meta they are seen EVERY round yet when survivors use a perk often it gets nerfed, including survivor perks that are weak i.e., spine chill and MoM yet sloppy butcher for example was already meta before it got buffed but dev's still buffed it to the disgusting state it's in now.
Another example is thanatophobia which got buffed even though it was already meta then when devs realised what a massive mistake they'd made they reverted it but I'm yet to see a sloppy revert.
If dev's like to "shake up the meta" then why are the killer perks I've listed still the only killer perks being used, or does shaking up the meta only apply to survivor perks? The meta "shake up" destroyed survivor perks i.e., DS & Iron Will so they're never seen anymore but I'm still seeing killer perks that were apparently "nerfed" in the meta shake up, this is evidence the perk changes are unbalanced in killers favour. Why does "nerfing" survivor perks mean outright obliterate yet "nerfing" killer perks means slight power reduction so it's at least still useable?
I get it man, you are roar and you gotta stick to your bit. But you realize killers have gone through several more metas than survivors by far? You realize survivors have had basically 2 metas ever and killers have had what at least 8? In my time playing. Ruin/undying got deleted, Gen kick perk meta got deleted, more slowdowns got nerfed. What's left? Deadlock, Jolt, pain res and corrupt(eruption isn't even meta but not terrible.
What has survivor lost? DS and IW got nuked but both can work in their respective builds, IW in made for this build and DS in anti tunnel build. I guess spine chill got nuked but honestly whatever. That's 3 now? What other perks got nuked tell me.
You are just beyond survivor biased and will probably hit me with average killer main response even though I mostly played survivor since 6.1.0.
Go look at otz recent tier lists. There are far more viable perks for survivors than killers right now(A tier and above). Otz isn't the end all be all in this game but I feel far more free on survivor.
Again you are just self centered lmao.

Oh man if you actually go through with it
Blight with c7 and placebo tablet plus only shadowborn.

Unfortunately you're going to get bots in your games an awful lot, because
*The bot replacement system fixes literally none of the reasons people disconnect*
In fact, it actually gives an extra reason to disconnect (not encouraging or condoning DC's here, just discussing human nature). Anyone who would normally stick out a game just to be a good teammate... well, that's what the bot is for now. It turns a disconnect into a bullshit win-win, where that player can leave the game like they want, but the team isn't down a 'player'.
So when people get sick of losing because of bots on their team, they'll just disconnect in a cascade and make the problem worse.
This system is garbage, bullshit, and solves nothing. It's ripe for exploits and abuse by both sides, and simply leaving the player's avatar in the world for 30 seconds before having the entity take them gives the killer time to gain stacks/hooks without any option for abuse.
This should never go live in a PvP game.
There is no downsides to the bots. While there is problems with core dbd that may make people want to dc that is something they knowingly sign up for every time they hit ready.
Realistically they should have system in place that prevents people over lets say 100 hours to be generous to gain a certain amount of blood points per min while out of chase for at least 20 seconds. It's not hard to make it so people have to play the game or stop playing it. Leagues done an incredible job of preventing people from greifing in any way and negating toxicity to the point of it being absurd. Dbd's system is far too lax to say the least.
But all of you mobile/veteran players can keep spouting how dc penalties mean nothing.

First of all, I’m sick of hearing about SWF. Whenever anyone wants to complain about anything they bring up SWF. 1) not everyone plays in a group and 2) even while SWF may pose a challenge they don’t rob you of your agency. Secondly, it’s EASY for any killer to camp. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Blight or a Trapper. Unless you’re an absolutely atrocious player you’re going to get a down eventually. Then all you have to do is hook and wait. I never once stated that camping can’t be countered but it’s risky to do so and very difficult unless you’re in one of those magical SWF everyone talks about. Reassurance is a great perk, but it has a timer so while it might buy you some time it won’t just make everything work out ok. Same with the other. That brings up another point: I’ve seen so many people on this forum complain about not wanting to bring a certain perk in order to counter another like, for example, Made for This. So in what world should every survivor have to bring these perks to maybe try and counter a camping killer? Even if survivors are successful in getting a player off the hook with a camping killer it almost always results in a hook trade, becoming injured, the hooked player hitting the second hook stage, the hooked survivor being tunneled and downed again, or a combination of these. And, yes, while there are ways to counter these things they are not as easy and effective as camping is in the first place not to mention the pressure it puts on survivors because they must abandon their objectives to try and pull it off. Most times the risk isn’t worth it so sometimes if survivors notice a killer camping they won’t even try to help lest they put themselves in a worse situation. If it’s closer to endgame the risk of abandoning gens becomes less severe but otherwise remains.
Lastly, no, my argument is nowhere near invalid and you didn’t even address it properly. While you tried to divert the discussion by talking about killers that may not be as good at some things as others or perks that can help you if you’re being camped the point of the matter is this: camping is easy, and it is effective. If it wasn’t why would killers resort to it? Why would so many just use it as a tactic to begin with if it weren’t? The same is true of tunneling and slugging though the latter has its own risks. The point is that if killers feel they’re losing the edge they then have a very EASY and EFFECTIVE way to bring the balance back in their favor or to at the very least ensure they get a kill. Survivors do not have that luxury. Yes, as someone else mentioned they can choose to just hide but what good will that do? Hiding won’t get you any closer to escaping. It’s entirely possible for a good group of survivors to combat a camping killer and still get an all-out, but that also doesn’t change the point.
Wow you truely have been caught in solo queue.
I play with a duo survivor most of the time but I would not consider myself a good survivor. Any decent random though will know how to position themselves around a hook to make sure no one takes a trade, it's rather easy and any person who has watched a survivor streamer/youtuber would know how to do so.
Unless it's bubba/billy/huntress or a killer with max stbfl than It really isn't that hard to make an unhook vs a camping killer with just 2 people.
There is nothing hard about survivor except chase, macro is far harder on killer and even then it's not very challenging. People just are not good at dbd, that's it.
-
My killer is kinda taking a forced break already with these servers.
-
Usually boring. Those maps usually have less real tiles, like dead dawg and midwich.
-
Some of the servers are terrible right now, it doesn't seem to be everywhere but me and other people on the forum are experiencing 100+ ping lobbies. Every time I play killer I'm up against players from central America. I'm in the center of the US. Only on killer though.
-
At this point they should make it always be a 2-2 split. All together or separate is too big of an advantage for either side.

No, condemn was definitely designed to be a slowdown mechanic that when ignored results in a loss. This mori slug thing that willie made meta was never the intention. Insta mori is crap design because it was never intended to happen unless the survivors were negligent.

spirit has 15 second cooldown on phase walk. 15 second is massive for killer. that is 15 second where killer cannot apply pressure to the game. its free gen pressure aka free gen-rushing. it should be 15 second cooldown to apply condemn globally. not 15 second cooldown on tp. I guess we will have to see in PTB how nerfed sadkao is.
15 seconds for 1/3 of her power. It's not directly comparable to killers with one singular power like Blight or Spirit. The point of the changes is to make condemn passive slowdown while nerfing the actual ability to do the insta mori thing, that results in her tp having a cd.

DBD do not need complex gameplay or mechanics, it's simplicity is one of it's strengths as it allows anyone to quickly pick it up and jump in.
Pre-rework MacMillan color tint was awful to look at.
An operation health patch wouldn't do much for this game other than maybe allow for a few extra features like replay to be supported.
Old Hillbilly was the third most unfun killer to face next to Blight and Wesker, his rework made him at least a bit more tolerable to face.
I hope old dbd stays buried and gone for good, the sooner we get rid of or rework all remaining elements from old dbd, the better.
Bhvr should never have gone for last generation consoles and instead just waited for the next one before releasing dbd on consoles altogether.

Soul chemical is bad, summoning stone isn't that great without alch ring, vigos isn't very good but not bad, rose tonic and umbra salts are B tier at best. 6 out of 11 of his greens and up can be considered meta and by no means is c21 considered op.

Wrong. If it's easily countered then you wouldn't be fighting so hard to keep it. Buy you know that isn't true. There's no counter to a killer moving that fast that whip around a corner. Blight is meant to move in mostly straight lines at high speeds. Being able to cheese his movement due to a flaw in the game's design gives him the ability to hit survivors when he never should have been able to. Fixing this would likely prevent his add-on from needing much, if any, change.

I'm pretty sure I cannot get the full enjoyment out of him with a controller 🎮, no matter what stupid thing I'm sliding off of that I shouldn't be. Might be coloring how I see him.
I am with HTL, I'll take the current state of blight in which collision on both new and older maps is constantly becoming worse just so I can keep the hug tech. Blight is the only thing I will play as killer now even though I play mostly survivor now, no other killer is near as fun and as potentially skillful.

So this killer abusing this bug for almost 2 years?
And i don't know what do you mean with "why".
He is already strong, why we are letting him use bugs and abuse them? Blight only deserves nerfs atm. What we should do next? Buff Nurse?
Dude again just saying bug isn't a conversation. Again many bugs have been left in this game and have become intended features.
Why is something being unintended by the devs initially mean it needs to be done away with? Give me a reason? It's not what makes him strong, it has good counterplay. What is the actual reason it needs to be fixed?

I'm sure even with a majority thinking it's just his add-ons being problematic, he will get some unjustified base-kit nerfs.

Keeping this bug in game and making it feature will be buff for Blight and i don't want this. Blight is last killer who needs any buff, only nerfs should be for him.
If they are gonna keep hug-tech in his kit, then he should take more nerfs than add-on nerfs.
Why?
Give me reasons that aren't just completely ambiguous.
It is not a buff to a character to keep something in that they have had for 2 years now.
Again hug-tech mitigates rush usage during map traversal and can turn filler pallets into 60/40s.
I can say with certainty you likely have a less than adept knowledge of Blight. Not to call you out but there are probably less than 100 people in the world who really know blight.

So it's okey to abusing bug for you?
I mean there was many things in the past of dbd that were considered bugs and implemented. Billy curves and any survivor movements techs would just be gone. But only because they have yet to publicly announce this one is ok that so many people complain.
Why do you want the hug tech removed so badly? It's value is mitigating the need for as many rushes during map traversal and makes filler pallets good for him. Any real tile it's better not to hug tech and it genuinely does have more a lot of counter play.
Are you just going to respond to this with "But its bug"? I sure hope not.

Aim dressing isn't a bug, and neither are 360's.
He is saying how spinning was originally a bug in the game before the devs eventually said it was fine and that it heavily hurts console killers without much control over it themselves.

I haven’t experienced this. Is it a certain region? Or console? Who is affected by it? My servers have been fine. (East, PC)
I'm on NA and being match with people in mexico but only when I play killer, leading to 120-150 ping lobbies. Not sure how that happens.

I have not seen a single comp player in my own games or in streamers I watch have anything but massive egos to the point of me not caring. KAZ being a retired player into retired coach for team eternal, I guess we know why now.
In general though comp dbd is not entertaining.

I can tell... because of your name, of course.
Since you main Blight, do you have any advice for a Billy main trying to learn Blight?
Ive mostly been using Vigo's Journal and Blighted Crow when I play them.
Outside of the liilth guide HTL posted. Staying outside of tiles until you are guaranteed a hit is typically a good idea. You could take it as a blessing or a curse that you started maining blight after they changed 20% of the games solid collision in the name of wesker. General tips for blight are hard but one I would say don't use any speed when learning him and two watch lilith if you are good visual learner, just to get general knowledge outside of the game that you are not capable of knowing on your own.

I found windows blocking pretty useless but i want to hear why you think it's unfair. Maybe i used it wrong.
It makes really strong windows impossible to play around for most killers.
