@Peanits Maybe unlock teachables at levels 15, 20, and 25 then?
-
@AnnaEliza365 That may be, but consider this:
- You will employ vastly different strategies, depending on your build. I've played through Dark Souls 1 with a full-on sorcery build, and a melee/faith build, and it changes the way that you approach everything, especially bosses.
- The various covenants introduce new elements into the game -- different NPCs that weren't there before, different PVP considerations if you're into that, different items and side-quests that you didn't know about.
- There are a lot more routes through the game than a first-time player realizes. Especially on New Game+, you can effectively sequence-break a lot of the game.
-
Oh, and in terms of unpopular opinions that I have, Final Fantasy VII is stupid and boring.
-
1) Dark Souls has amazing world design, an interesting approach to lore, and is overall just a great game. I think people get too hung up on the difficulty. I roundly disagree with the argument that there is no replayability.
2) Identifying as a gamer isn't something that anyone else has any right to dictate to you. Freaking gatekeepers on Reddit or whatever just want to bully people and put boundaries around what a "true" gamer is, to exclude others. If you play games and enjoy them, that's cool. No one else can decide whether you're "allowed" to call yourself a gamer, that's just stupid.
3) All platforms are awesome. :D

What Rydog means is that, we don't want a Nurse tier killer, but a killer that's between Billy and Spirit. We want strong killers when used correctly, but not unstoppable.
This is accurate!
-
This sounds absolutely hilarious.
-
If BBQ didn't have a Bloodpoint incentive, I would definitely use something else instead.
-
Man, I hate when killers use game mechanics.
Also, you're totally right, we definitely don't need more than 3 consistent viable killers in a cast of 17.
-
Definitely something dental-related.
-
I just wish they'd give her the normal 115% move speed.
-
All something like this would do is create a meta where you only ever see the same 3 survivors. If you gave someone faster walking speed or increased FOV, that would be the meta. And it would probably have unforeseen knock-on effects for perks, too.

If you’re interested in both survivor and killer perks then you should probably take a look at this thread:

This man Sherlock Holmes’d this German article and by the looks of it the perks aren’t that bad actually.
Killer blocking all vaults for 30 seconds when a gen is complete, or kicking all gens when he hits someone?
Survivor walking faster and seeing their scratch marks?
That all sounds strong and awesome!
-
Yes, I know. That's from a scene at the beginning of Nightmare 4. That's when the series became goofy and Freddy turned into a full-scale wacky pop-culture wisecracker. I am using the term "cartoon character" metaphorically, not literally.

How does two perks out of three per bloodweb sound?
Like it's not remotely enough. Five per web maybe. I still think perk tiers just flatly need to go, and teachables need to be brought down to levels 20, 25, and 30 at the highest.
Did they announce something somewhere, or are you just speculating?

@Rydog no no theres an old photo of Robert Englund with sunglasses with the FReddy costume on look it up its funny.
Yes. It's from Nightmare 4, where he became a cartoon character.

Except they changed the perk economy. Comes with the new chapter.
I'm still skeptical that whatever they've done will be remotely enough to fix the game's #1 problem.
-
You don't. These achievements are stupid and need to be reworked.

Robert Englund Freddy with black shades, that is all...
Please no cartoon character version. First three movies only. :P

I understand the drive to speed things along if I'm the last survivor left, and loss is inevitable. But if I haven't been hooked all game, at least let me live through the first phase so I can pop Deliverance. And would it be too much to ask that they just give me the full +893 struggle BP if they're gonna auto-kill me?

@RoKrueger said:
Noone tells me what to do ;-)
I won't discriminate survivors, they will all fall under my blade.... if I can catch them.
What you're describing is not being toxic, it's playing the game as intended.
-
Why would you want EVEN MORE perks? The perk economy continues to be a growing problem, as more and more perks are added without any changes to the oppressive perk grind.
-
Wat
-
Who the hell calls Xander "Alex?"
-
Personally speaking, I main Claudette because she's who I started with thanks to her good perks, and also because she's superior in the meta. That said, I'm also very fond of her science nerd lore.
Also, I'll never prestige her, because I think prestige is a stupid waste of time and BP, and I'd rather use the full range of available cosmetics.

@Rydog @Mushwin They just filled it with way too much SJW agenda. I couldn't watch it. I can usually tolerate it(I mean I do watch Netflix, lol), but some shows just go above and beyond that threshold to tolerate. When every episode is about how men are egotistical evil douchebags who only want to see women serve them and whites rule the world, it becomes ridiculous.
🙄

@Atrushan88 said:
I say we go for a Gremlins chapter instead. Buffy is awesome though.
@JawsIsTheNextKiller There's a new PC trash Buffy? What? Jeez they've already ruined Charmed and Sabrina!
LOL, the hell, how did they ruin Sabrina? The new show is pretty accurate to the source material.
-
Yeah, the perk economy is the grossest, most terminally broken thing about this game. You have to invest heavily in a killer to get perks before you can even understand whether that killer is a good fit for you.
I just wish you could buy any perks you've unlocked, a la carte for BP, on a character-by-character basis, independent of the Bloodweb.
-
They're probably just kids who think it's funny.
-
The counter to survivors fixing gens is to patrol the gens and kill survivors.
-
I also think it would be great if the game showed the offerings as everyone is spawning in. Force everyone to commit to the game they've decided to play, because adapting to circumstances is part of the game.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't know I wasn't allowed to use my imagination until the release!
No imagination allowed!!
Haha sorry, I guess I came across a little bit dickish. I just thought it was weird to see suggestions for a killer that already exists. I like your stealth power idea.
-
I'm pretty sure they already figured this stuff out a long time ago man. Did you think they just now started working on the powers and perks after the killer got announced?
-
Emblem penalties are worthless, because rank is not something that is universally valued. It can't be a BP penalty either, because those also aren't universally valued. Some killers see the kill as the only goal, and they don't care about their postgame rewards. It's not a penalty if it is something a player doesn't care about in the first place.
Face camping -- camping very close to the hook, with no other survivors present -- should have a material impact on the current game's immediate circumstances. Give all survivors a substantial bonus to repair speed, or start auto-progressing all generators on the map for every second that the killer does this, or something. It will disincentivize camping greatly.
Also, make Kindred's vision of hook-camping killers a standard part of every survivor's toolkit already. I feel like it's profoundly illogical that this has not been implemented yet.
-
@Mushwin That's all well and good. But, I mean, go back and watch the original film -- some of the line deliveries, particularly from Nancy's mother, carry very clear implications that Freddy was doing more than just murdering. And in a real-world context, anytime you hear about this sort of thing happening, it's a natural (and also usually very correct) assumption that there was sexual abuse involved as well. I don't remember a time, even when I was a kid in the '90s watching these movies, that this WASN'T a clearly understood aspect of Freddy's history.
Also, I can't believe we're arguing over the guilt of a fake dream monster from a horror film franchise.
-
@JawsIsTheNextKiller Freddy was always more than just a child murderer. The original film danced around the particularly vile parts, but the implications were always there.

What about my opinions that are so bad, I'm not sitting here saying these perks needs a game changing buff or anything I just said they need some tweaking, I already know you're saying my opinion is bad because it goes against your beliefs hence I made sure to state its my opinion. I don't need justification for my statement when I can easily gather the Developers data showing most useless perks and the perks I name is right on that list.
Well, regardless, I'd be curious to see developer data on this stuff!
-
Man, Nancy looks great. I hope they have some good cosmetics for her!
-
Some opinions are pretty bad, especially when they're not well-justified. You should expect to see bad opinions get criticized when you put them out in public.
-
Haha, I don't know. Buffy could be the survivor, and she could have some perks called "The Chosen One" and "Smile Time" (which is an Angel reference). Maybe one of her native perks could provide some sort of superior resilience, or recovery from damage.
The killer would totally have to be one of the vampires -- probably the Master, Spike, or Drusilla. Maybe their power would involve some sort of on-foot drain of the survivor's life bar or something. I dunno, I haven't thought about it... but it would have to be something vampire-y. They'd definitely need a perk called "Big Bad," though.
An interior Sunnydale High School map would be my go-to for a location, but there are plenty of good Buffy locations to mine (Initiative HQ, Streets of Sunnydale, Hyperion Hotel if you want to get into Angel territory...).
-
Did you just call Alert, Object of Obsession, Decisive Strike, Deliverance, and Lightweight useless? I mean, you are perfectly entitled to your wrong opinions, but come on.
Alert gives you free, map-wide, no-cooldown vision on the killer for 5 seconds every time they perform a common action.
Object of Obsession is basically an OP wall hack for SWF groups.
Decisive Strike has good counterplay, but it is one of the game's most powerful anti-tunneling perks.
Deliverance is situational as you say, but as long as you're not playing really poorly, it is a massive boon.
Lightweight is kind of an edge case because it's always difficult to tell how much it is actually helping you, but denying information to the killer is not a weak thing.
-
I have no problem with as much cosmetic-focused grind as they want to put into the game. It doesn't affect gameplay, and it's for fun and to show off. That type of grind is the best, because it gives you something to work toward without kneecapping your play options. As a former Overwatch player, I can tell you that I put a lot of effort into getting skins and such.
Reducing the perk grind is important. I'm still really curious to hear more information this upcoming Bloodweb change that @Peanits mentioned a few days ago.

Eez joke on how ugly Quentin looks in-game by comparing him unfavorably to the Demogorgon.
Oh, lol

Just because it's true doesn't make it important!
