The amount of kills isn't the in-between, the in-between here is how the match goes.
A match can only go one of three ways.
- All survivors escape.
- All survivors die.
- Some survivors escape, and some die.
-
Have YOU ever tried climbing down a dark hatch while your mind was unraveling??
-
@Jimmy22666 I'm sorry that you are having such a negative first experience. What platform are you on, and what time zone / times of day do you usually queue up?

Your team either genrushes and you all escape (maybe a few endgame kills happen), or you all just die (and maybe the last survivor escapes via the hatch). There is no in between right now on high ranks.
You literally describe in-betweens in your parentheticals.

Lucky Break + Iron Will + Lightweight + Distortion (or maybe Quick & Quiet) = GHOST

SUGGESTION: Improve the game. That is all. Thanks.

Thanks, any tentative windows on the server tick rate and Hit validation? I can't seem to find information about those two topics.
Just the usual "we're working on it."
-
No pretty road map graphic like last year. But, on their last livestream, they announced cross-platform play, possible cross-platform accounts, a new matchmaking system that isn't a dumpster fire, some sort of new new prestige rewards, and upped server tick rate.
-
I got really burnt out on the game right before Oni came out, and I stepped away for about six months. I came back and am really enjoying it again now, but I'm sure at some point I will want to take another break. I don't think this is a bad thing.
If you're not enjoying it right now, there are lots of other games to play, and DBD will still be here later.
-
All of this comes back to "How would this work?" There's not even anything here to have a discussion about, outside of this wild "what if?" question.

Hello all,
Why is it everything extremely killer sided in this game. Its to the point where its become non-enjoyable. The developers shrink the map for killers. Make loops unsafe or take out loops for killers. How is it I vault a window 15% faster with perks but still get hit after fast vaulting a window, pallet, etc. And STILL GET HIT AFTER RUNNING five feet away from said window or pallet. I thought the dedicated servers were supposed to fix these issues not make them worse. I've been playing this game for years, and up until recently its become garbage. I enjoy the game, but damn can we actually fix some issues going on with the survivor side? Or is the solution to "get better" even though you can't beat connection problems. Or "play with a team" even though they are getting screwed over also. I don't know maybe I just want some answers to these problems ππ
Salty killer mains or EVEN BETTER A DEVELOPER enlighten me PLEASE!!!
Thanks π
A lot of the things you're complaining about -- smaller map sizes, weakened loops, etc. -- happened because they were far too favorable to survivors.
Server tick rate is apparently being increased though, so hopefully nonsense hits through windows should stop happening.

Shooters have them put its usually very limited. Highest I've seen is like 110. Usual highest option is 90 though.
My preference would be to just make all of Shadowborn's settings into an FOV slider in the options menu, and then redesign that perk into something else. If they can do it with Shadowborn on all platforms, they can make it a standard thing on all platforms.

Oh, so you're a sophist. I get it.
It's your thread! It's fair to ask how you think this would work. Heck, maybe you wind up coming up with something that would be awesome, who knows?
When I make recommendations on how to change or improve the game, I try to explain how it would work and why it would be good for the game. I don't think it is unfair for me to hold other people to the same standards that I hold myself. Some of my idea are probably dumb, too. Lord knows some people here definitely disagree with me on, say, why hook suicides should not be a thing. π

Then it'd be a problem when console cross play releases since we usually don't get for sliders even in games that have them on pc.
Really? Not even in console shooters?

Idk, I'm not a game designer. But you could make it harder than doing the gens so SWF who go for it actually make the killer have a higher chance of winning.
Thank you, the question was rhetorical. You just answered it. If you can't conceptualize the idea or describe how it might work, isn't this a silly thing to discuss?
I've tried to point out why it would not be healthy for the game (it would fundamentally move every goalpost we currently have, and necessitate unforeseeable changes to so many other things), so now it is on you to form a counter-position that amounts to more than "that would be cool."
-
Iridescent Head: Make it do something else completely.
-
This would not be a problem if they just added an actual FOV slider, like any other normal video game in 2020 would have.

Again, something being a big change doesn't mean it shouldn't be a thing.
How would this mechanic work, and what kinds of unforeseeable ripple effects do you suppose it would have, which would necessitate other myriad changes to who-knows-how-many mechanics?

@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
It actually wasnt hard to kill jason at all if you were coordinated. Killers get f'd up enough as it is π
There used to be so little pressure in that game, in terms of avoiding and harming Jason, that we would do stupid things like just take the cars on joyrides through the forest, or all gang up and start hitting Jason with wrenches and bats. We even figured out the spawn grid for his teleport power, and would place objects to block him. Man that game was nuts.

@JoeyBob said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1335348#Comment_1335348
Instant fast vaults and windows never being blocked being changed wasn't some small balance thing either. Shack was an infinite when it had two windows.
Something being a big change doesn't by itself make the change unwarranted like you imply.
They were small balancing things, insofar as they essentially involved changing a number somewhere. A mechanic to KILL THE KILLER? That's a different game you're describing.
-
@JoeyBob said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1335335#Comment_1335335
Yeah and surv mains said removing instant flashlights and instant fast vaults would ruin the game, but it didn't.
You're not talking about some small balancing thing, you're talking about a radical shift in how the objectives and game mechanics would work.
Friday the 13th was terminally broken, in part because of how easy it was for a halfway-coordinated group to completely shut down and 80% of the times straight-up kill Jason. Unless things have substantially changed with that game, it is not a hard thing to do.
-
Friday the 13th is an entirely different game with a radically different philosophy of the relationship between survivors and killer. It would not fit DBD at all.
-
It would be nice if each Devotion level got you some substantial amount of BP, or something.
Like, a million BP per Devotion rollover would -- increasingly -- be a drop in the bucket for someone who is committed enough to get there, but it would still be a nice reward, and I imagine it wouldn't be that much of a hurdle to implement, since it doesn't involve adding any new mechanics.
-
DBD's live team definitely ought to be more robust and agile than it currently is.

Michael is by far one of my favorite killers to play as in this game. But one thing that always bothered me about him is how inaccurate his mask is compared to the movies. He should have his face remodeled to resemble the mask from 1978 more.
He should look like this,
Not like this.

Dang, you sound like... every Halloween fan talking about every Halloween sequel. π
(Just goofing. 1978 mask forever!)
Whoever designed Myers clearly wasn't trying to make a screen-accurate design based on the original movie. His mask doesn't look like the Shatner, his coveralls are black instead of the original film's spruce green, and I somehow doubt that his in-game height mirrors Nick Castle's 5'10".
-
@Supremewaffle013 @Pinkytwigosh I'm sorry that your early experience with the game was so negative. As others have said, matchmaking is a complete dumpster fire right now, and we have been yelling at the developers about this for a while. There is supposedly a solution coming soon.
I promise not everything about DBD is this much of a disaster.

For me wraith is too op, he need nerf I think he needs a song when he is invisible like spirit, not just ding ding ding, and stop the speed move when he comes out of the invisible. Thank you
So you want him to be nerfed to the point where he's unplayable, is what you're saying?
Wraith is one of the weakest killers right now. He has arguably the worst map pressure in the game, and he has no real power, other than locating survivors a little easier. I dunno how long you have been playing, but Wraith is a bit of a newbie stomper. Once you know what you're doing and what to pay attention for, you start to see the serious downsides to his power.

Plans change. As others have said, those figures were probably the approximate intention when the store launched, but that was years ago, and it's ridiculous to think they're handcuffed to that until the end of time. Plus, these are just cosmetics. People get so angry at any company that dares to make a profit off of their work.
These are benign luxury items in a video game that you are getting because they look neato, not price-gouged sneakers made by underpaid laborers in some third-world factory. The in-game shop exists primarily to sell you things, that you buy with real money. You aren't being forced to, and you're not missing out on any part of the game experience -- other than playing dress-up -- by not buying them.

The issue with this, we have no way of knowing what game time people have - there's no way to tie up your game account with the forum account basically. And whilst I would love this function because from a moderation point of view it would mean dealing with spam/troll accounts a lot easier, I don't think it's anything we will be able to implement for the time being.
Also: If your current rank and/or game time were displayed next to your forum posts, people would just use it as a gatekeeping tool. It would get very unpleasant very fast.

There's plenty of cursing in the text descriptions for everything.
Also, people who don't like Ash's voice, I don't think we can be friends.

Pairing SC with Botany is not wasting an extra perk slot. It gives you unlimited heals that are slightly slower than a teammate healing you. It also gives a nice bump to healing your teammates. It's debatable whether it's the best idea. But it's hardly a waste.
As to the OP, I see nothing wrong with your current build as long as it works for you. Given you run BT and Kindred I'm guessing you like going for hook saves. You could start running a medkit for your own heals. Then swap out SC with We'll Make It. Combined with Botany the unhook heals are stupid fast.
Maybe "waste" was a bit of a dramatic overstatement. What I'm getting at is that using Botany Knowledge to offset SC's inefficiency is not the best setup. And if healing teammates is the priority, We'll Make It would do the job of both of those perks, while freeing up a perk slot for something like Bond or Spine Chill.

For a paying customer, getting that item and see that is fking bugged, its a lack of professionalism towards us. Also got the new outfit for Meg just to notice that one boob is missing details, like come on these are UI bugs, easy to fix, these things will definitely stop the urge to get new items in game. And RyDOG of course your sense of fashion its your concern alone, so stop trolling and bragging that you came out from straight from Milano.
Sorry, it was just a silly joke. I agree that they should, of course, fix this, since it is a technical oversight.

I don't see what's political about saying black people's lives matter just the same as white people's lives. The fact that some people try to make basic human decency political doesn't mean it is.
It's political in the sense that it is taking a stance on a human issue that others will disagree with.
It's also basic human decency, and shouldn't be remotely controversial to anyone with a shred of empathy in their heart.

I see the phrase "quality of life update" misused very often. A quality of life update is like changing the color of the cursor so it's easier to see. It's Trapper being able to reset his traps without picking them up. It's not changing a core mechanic of the game.
If it's just about making slugging fun, maybe the devs could add in a mini-game for slugged survivors to play. One of those little Tiger Electronics games and they get to earn some BP while they bleed to death. I'd be down with that.
Wow, someone else who actually understands what that term means!

I think putting politics into the game is a reallllllly bad idea.
Donating to good causes is well...good though. I think you have to keep games as games and not something portraying political messages which stem off into all sorts of arguments and division.
Everything is political. This is a fact of life.
Hell, people on these forums rampantly treat killers and survivors as though they are political parties in terms of the mean-spirited us-vs-them mentality.
OP's idea is a nice and kind sentiment, but in my heart of hearts, I know this thread is just gonna turn into a powder keg. I bet it probably already has, in the time I took to scan the thread and type this response. (EDIT: I am pleasantly surprised. I hope I don't jinx it.)

As a new player myself the grind before me can be a bit daunting. I only have a few hours a day to play this game, and if there's one thing I've learned from watching a lot of streams is that you're going to want to level up a lot of characters if you want to have the best perks equipped for a single survivor/killer. Because of this most of the time I find myself waiting around to see what the shrine of secrets will unveil. Sometimes I get what I want, but most of the time I don't.
Personally to counter all of this grinding I would appreciate it if bhvr incorporated experience boosts or blood hunts more often. Considering the game has been out for almost four years now, new players need a leg up for all the amount of grinding that lies before them.
It would be nice if there were just a monthly 1.5x or 2x Blood Hunt weekend. It would give everyone something to look forward to with regularity, outside of normal patch cycles and big holiday events.
