  • It depends what you actually call camping.

To me, camping is staying around the hook to protect the hooked.
In your case, you're camping, but you're not wrong to do so.
Sometimes, camping is justified, sometimes it's not but the killer is unaware, and sometimes, it's just to be toxic/obnoxious and provide a poor experience to survivors while not stressing yourself out and trying to get free kills out of potential rescuers.

Not sure why people consider "camping" as something bad or anything, unless it's done just to ruin other people's experience. It's a necessary mecanic since survivors can recover WAY too quickly if you simply leave the hooks and let them freely rescue as multiple survivors everytime.
    You're not a damn babysitter.

The main point of Doctor is to change the way the game is played.
It may sound unfair for him to be efficient against Stealth players, but it's just how he has been designed in the first place.
Playing against Doc is a battle against Time, since he WILL find you soon enough. That's how it is and how it should stay. Nerfing a "decent" killer would just make him boring to play on the long run.

He just requires you to play very differently, and mostly to understand one factor : a killer cannot pressure more than one survivor at a times. Being in a terror radius do not change that fact, even if that one is huge or giving madness.
Obviously, he can distrupt many players, and that's what he should do if he wanna win, however, but it can be dealt with decently if you are well aware of what he is able to do/not able to do.

    Agreed !!

Fully perked/addon DR on Gideons is one of the most stressful games I think I have ever played

Doctor in Gideon is very discutable tho, tbh. Same with Nurse with Range add-ons, M&A and Nurse's calling, that can prove super hard to deal with due to the map design.

A great team can obviously power through, tho. But the rewards/advantage for playing Doc on that map is kinda huge lol.

Well ive had a killer drop on me too many times to count and I have a pretty awesome ping, no troll intents and survivors should be able to bring exactly what they want.

I'd agree, if items were balanced and actually hard to get/costy.

BBQ and chili that allowed people to play killer again since people were dropping it to play survivor with WGLF ?
Franklin's that is one of the only effective way to play against full geared survivors ?
Or knock out that is largely countered by voice com ?

THen you'd force killers to play against people with huge ping, or with troll intents, which is not wanted.
It would also allow the survivor to bring EVEN MORE items since dodging would be punished.

    Oh lovely 4 BNP rounds.

  • This thread is weird.
The title talks about rank issues.
The body talks about unhooking issues.

Do you mean people use the fact that they can sandbag not to rank up on purpose ? Because I doubt so. In general, people do wanna pip, but they want BP/to use their perk anyway, even if it costs the hooked his life.

About your suggested changes however, it could be decent to prevent some random unhook just to farm survivors on the hook for sure. I'm not sure the -30 punishment is appropriate tho, since borrowed time is kinda designed to be used in some ways, and it's usually up not only to the rescuer to allow the rescued to escape, but also the killer, if he camps.

Devs probably considered many times a feature to prevent the unhooking from a hooked survivor perspective, but it brings its own issues, sadly.

At the moment, even if the sandbagging is still a thing at times, I feel like the game is in an okay state, and way less risky saves are made overall. Most of the time, the BT usage is made when you don't have much choice, like against a basement camping killer for example. I'm not sure that punishing these attempts of rescue to be a solution, especially since they are taking a lot of risks and commitments already.

In any case, sandbagging will, seemingly, always be an issue in this game.
The bonus BP for getting someone healed after BT is really nice tho. But it is already applied in a sense since you heal one health state which is worth 10 points already.

  • I can confirm. A killer D/C do not make you to depip. The pip comes back when you get back at the main menu, and it's simply a display bug that exists since 2016.

  • Him moving at normal speed while revving the chainsaw, or at least at 100% speed, would be super nice to have tbh. It would give him more mindgames at pallets where he could rev the chainsaw to make the survivor not to want to drop the pallet, and then commit in with the rush to try to get the one shot.

It would be similar to Billy in that matter, doing this kind of stuff :

  • So far in my 1500 hours, I encountered 1 lagswitcher.
Tho I'm well aware they do exist since I've seen many replays of them on several streamers.

Not sure what they can do about that except for Dedicated servers, since banning people 24h for a connection jump would be rough since it can happen to pretty much anyone.

To all the hag player saying she's fine or same tier as nurse. I'm calling bullshit. If she's nurse tier than why does hag appear in less than 5 of marths entire depip squad series? why does billy and nurse dominate tournaments but no hag? If you have some magical playstyle that lets you dominate rank 1s and SWF then stream it or post it on youtube and you'll have a very large following, because I've yet to see a streamer that plays her anywhere remotely on the level that you're describing. Otherwise you're just blowing smoke.

    Because :

    • She was garbage at her release.
    • People didnt notice she got heavily boosted.
    • People cannot play her/care to play her most of the time. They do not even know you're not supposed to trap gens most of the time.
    • Because she requires time and strategy, which is less fun than running brainlessly around the map with Billy & Nurse and be rewarded for it.
    • Because she is not super quick paced, so she's less satisfying to play with for most people.
    • Because she's behind a paywall.

Whatever tho, good Hag players do not need to brag about her being good because that's what is getting killers nerfed.

  • Well.
    Cosmetics are cosmetics.
But 10$ for a full skin is indeed a bit weird for a 20$ game and a 6-7$ chapter. (without sales)

Maybe they did make studies about the most proficient prices, and 10$ could be accurate considering some other games can have stupid skins for 300$+ (yeah, I look at you, CS:GO, PUBG and Fortnite)

In any case, that last DLC sure is higher quality content than the previous ones, and if they keep that standart, I could live with pricy skins.

  • Depends on my mood, 90% of the time.
I usually don't let the hatch when I gave "sufficient chances" to players tho, or if they are overly toxic.

  • Some more myths.
They didn't slow the killers at all.
What does "Slower .5 sec to 1 sec in speed" means anyway ?

It's kinda like saying that your favorite meal costs 3 meters more. It doesn't make much sense.

  • Monitor and Abuse is a must.
Ruin is also a must-have to have time to even play the round.

The 2 other perks slots are debatable, depending on your playstyle.

Brutal Strength + Enduring can prove very effective to be harder to deal with in chases.
Knock Out + Deerstalker as well if you like slugging.
BBQ & Chili is always good to have.
Nurse's calling is nice to have if you use M&A.
    Bamboozle will obviously be great.

I personally use the classic :
    Ruin
    Brutal STrength
    Enduring
    M&A

I used to have BBQ & Chili included but I don't need BP anymore.
It allows you to play like this :
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dxfosuYlGk&feature=youtu.be

  • Could do.

Not to mention Vigil works against the Clow's slow tho.
    It's not huge but... It's something ?

  • Soon to come :
Doctor with Distressing, Coulrophobia, Ruin and Nurse's calling in The Game, with Iridescent King equiped.

Will definitely be fun. (Only for the Doctor tho, possibly)

  • These two perks are fine.

Unbreakable can become Nasty when paired with perks + items + SWF tho. Such as a DS squad with Flashlights for example, that you'd have to slug, but could prove hard due to that perk.

Unbreakable is also very strong on killers such as Freddy since it also wakes you up.

Devs are already considering making the healing to reset if you do not fully heal with self-care, so you cannot just cancel it and finish the heal somewhere else if the killer interrupts you, and you have to waste some extra time.

Tho I think that, considering the current nerfs, devs do not want to stack the odds against the survivors and will spread it over several patches.

We needs Survivors to have the odds against them. I mean that is mainly the point of the game lol.

Welp, devs are kinda scared of pitchforks if they simply go all apeshit on survivor's nerfs, even if some of them are possibly deserved for a while now.

I would like an increase on the cap again though to 3 Million BP, also, Survivors could use a small bump in earnings for matches. Thier earnings are paltry compared to Killers.

Intentional. Almost no one would play killer if it didn't give more BP than survivors get.

Can confirm. When they released WGLF (which was +200% BP), getting a match as survivor was taking ages.
Even myself stopped playing Killer at that time because... Well, survivor was simply less stressful and very efficient at making BP.

I've been on steam forums since day 1, and yeah, it has been a mess there.
This forum tho is going in a better direction, for now. We'll see on the short to long term how it goes.
I tend not to forget tho. I'll remember for a long time what happened in the past both in game and on the steam forums.

  • @Visionmaker
    Not really a lie.
They follow a marketing curve, which is the common way of most game company now.

If they did let the old farm with the current number of killers, the game would be empty by now and only a very few fanatics would be around.

That being said, passives could happen, they did think about it several times.
Tho they clearly stated they wanted people to play their favorite characters by the look and not the stats

  • @Lowbei
    I meant on the forums.
Ingame toxicity isn't going, this game breeds it.

  • @Visionmaker They have no choice. This game used to have only 1 killer, then 3.
    Now it has 12 lol.
Grinding is fun, to an extent, they just follow some marketing studies and adjust the average amounts toward optimized proportion in order to keep the addiction in, while not making it too boring. (Even tho it will be boring to some players)

  • Sorry, but no.
I want to be able to :

    • Not being forced to play against people with 400 pings.
    • Not being forced to play against obvious bullies (Yes, I look at you "LOLPLEBLOOPER" SWF)
    • Not being forced to play against "That specific guy that went super toxic last round and is joining again"

You just can't force people to play because you feel like you deserve a round.
Especially since doing this will empathize players (and even more toxic ones) to bring items to make the killer to dodge and have a penalty for it.

Unless you truly want your game to be deserted, I suggest not touching that feature, at least as long as the game can be totally one sided with a stack of items on a survivor side, paired with SWF, or not. (4 BNP, 4 flashlights, etc)

  • @Lowbei said:
We made a new forum because steam rules wouldnt let us nazi mod the way we wanted.

We removed the report form because we got tired of paying someone to monitor hackers.

    Get over it.

They actually made a new forum because they didn't want toxicity around, and didn't want to go through a whole army of killers on steam, and survivors on reddit, blaming them.

Also, they wanted a "fresh start" possibly. Because actually, most rules in here are pretty much the same than the steam forum ones.

  • @Lowbei said:
And no, “because we are working on a new one” isnt an acceptable answer.

    I don't know, then.

ESpecially before a free week-end. It was one of their worst idea ever.

  • There is one main issue with that kind of system :
It would make people not to want to rank up. Especially since there is no rewards for doing so. Which could lead to even more bullying at low ranks for both sides.

The real solution would be to make the game more noob-friendly.
For example, giving the perk "Windows of Opportunity" for free, or make it to appear in bloodwebs for the first 3 characters you level up, would help immensely. Which would ask for it to be a free perk tho, and give a new perk for Kate that would be more fitting to her since she's a DLC character, so meant for experience players.

Along with that, you could simply tweak some meta perks that are very used at high ranks, while not destroying them for low ranks that do not play optimally with them anyway, would be a good step toward a decent balancing of the game.

  • Making them small would make people to ask for more, tho.

  • It's not really him, but a robot clone.
Black men always die first in movies, he was no exception.

  • Maybe they meant they're randoms as they're not significant.
That's clearly the case in my eyes anyway : they're not significant, lol.

  • The only report feature available at the moment is the one in game, which is clearly not sufficient tho.
Even mods themselves admitted, on steam, to be rather unhappy with the situations since they feel pretty powerless now.

Devs were working on a new report system for the game, not sure when it will come out. Hopefully next patch, since the abuses and hacks are getting old rather quickly.

  • @Lowbei said:
    ...zero mod response

Mods do not treat in-game bans publically on the forums, so it's pretty normal overall.

  • Not their best maps indeed.
    But I guess they're staying.

  • Hex : Ruin is pretty weak if survivors can hit greats consistently. Tho, most people can't, and even the few fails could give you enough time to actually manage to get more kills, since time is the most precious ressource of a killer.

Overall, if your hex lasted the whole round : it very likely did its job without you noticing, as the round could have been possibly WAY shorter without it.

  • You need to reinstall older drivers.
I highly suggest 390.77 drivers, since they're sorta recent and functional, and compatible with Nvidia Freestyle.

  • My current tier list (possibly unpopular) for rank 1 competitive play :

    1. Nurse
    2. Billy/Hag
    3. Huntress
    4. Doctor
    5. Myers
    6. Clown
    7. Pig
    8. Trapper
    9. LF
    10. Wraith
    11. Freddy
  • Not a bad idea at all tbh.

Because killers cannot afford a dead perk slot in their kit, while survivors can.

You could imagine something extra for WGLF for sure tho, but what would you get exactly ?

Dunno maybe something like, "After unhooking a survivor the aura of the killer is revealed for 2 seconds" or something like this

Would be definitely wrong for a simple reason :
Showing the killer's aura to survivors is a HUGE way to reduce the scare factor, that is already super low in most rounds (sadly).

It's understandable on Kindred since it's situational and mostly against camping, so acceptable tho.

Ik but adding a perk to a game which only takes effect at the end of the game sounds stupid to me. And scare factor? I think everybody can agree, but the scare factor of Horror games constanly go down the more time you play the game.

And you can also tell that being able to know where the killer is gonna come from/where he is at, is actually a huge way to make it even less scary tho.
That's actually one of the reason that makes SWF to be way less scary and way more efficient.

And I agree, a perk for the sole reason to farm is actually very stupid.
WGLF and BBQ should both be passives (for the BP aspect) and people should be able to pick perks for their interesting mecanics, not for the sake of grinding.

I actually posted a few reworks about that, including giving more points to gen repairs too, and such, to balance things out.

As stated above, there is no aim assist.
There is a hit detection system, that turns your camera if it detects a target in your hitbox as you start to hit (which is a very large cone on M1 attacks) to give a better feeling to the player. Just imagine if the camera wasn't turning. It would lead to an HIT animation not directed toward the survivor, and it would look dumb.
Afterwards, there's a hit animation, hitting 0,3s later.

That difference can make the animation to miss completely, leading to indesired effects. (example : miss with chainsaw during Sprint Bursts and such)

In any case : there is no auto-aim/aim assists in this game. If a killer did hit you, he did legit aim properly as you were in his hitbox.

You can try to deny that fact as much as you want and give your own explaination, devs explained it on streams, several times.

So what your saying is, is that if a killer swings in a 360 degree angle, it will hit the survivor 100% of the time

Not, what I am saying is : if you do a random 360° and swing randomly, it will pick a random 180° cone and try to detect a survivor in that cone. If it does, it will hit, if it doesn't it will not.

As I said, there is no "auto-aim", just a huge cone.
You're free to have your own beliefs tho, since beliefs aren't forbidden even if they're not the reality.

But this just makes 360ing impossible still, the thing that I am trying to fix, so there is an aim assist just to a 180 degree extent

360 isn't even supposed to be a thing anyway since it's a way to use latency to make your character to look like it's teleporting.
You're not actually supposed to dodge hits consistently at melee range, hence the huge cone for killers.
You're supposed to STAY AWAY from the killer in a chase.

  • Same thing than the shack, you need to know where the survivor is actually losing vision and has to make guesses.

It most likely happens everytime the survivor turn at a pretty big wall without pallets around, so he has to make a choice either to continue or to go back. The first thing to do is usually to push the survivor away from the vault, since that hole just allows him to get an advantage and to keep the vision on you. As you push the survivor away from it, then he has to make guesses unless he can see you through the walls with cracks or in coldwind.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crgMmyoDzNQ
    Describes a few of them.

Never actually tried with Indisious tho, but it could oftenly prove to be a waste of time since people will either run at the pallet if it's still there, or run away from the gym.

  • I eat BBQ this evening, got no chili, so +1.
