no because im a trash kiler who relies on those Strats every game and I know nothing
and also because these questions are redundant and are meant to distract from simple logic like I said
Tunneling: Going after the most recently hooked survivor despite there being another equally viable target without attempting to chase another.
See how easy it is to define a version of tunneling?

OKAY y'know what: you win, cuz BHVR clearly listens to the opinions of other players who think like you. that has been made evident after they are now testing the grounds of basekit unbreakable.
so there's no point in even arguing, because you get what you want. you, numerous other players, and BHVR themselves only want killers to play super nice wholesome boop pig chungus 12 hook and every other strategy should be nerfed, you're right. so that's what youre gonna get. I am sure you're excitedSo you can't give basic definitions of what each of those are?
-
For what it's worth, when we're playing survivor it's almost always 4 people within "sight" (sometimes they're behind walls) with the occasional 3 in a group and 1 off who knows where. As killer it's usually everyone is grouped nearby with the occasional 2 and 2 for us.

They have been nerfing survivors and constantly buffing killers for like 9 years non-stop. Anti-camp? More like stand a few more meters away. I don't know how you could be so disconnected from the game.
…..so we're confused here, having it impossible for Bubba, aka the Lawnmower of survivors, to face-camp people and guarantee death…is a buff the killers?…Thats just the top of our heads example…

So what'd you think about last year's anniversary?

Doesn't matter. It happened and it affected the players in that match. Are you saying their experience doesn't matter?
Since the devs are trying to balance around the kill rate should they balance around DCs, no matter what caused it? The DCs are not indicating anything about balance after all. It may indicate how people feel, but not strictly about balance. Sure, someone may DC cause they feel something is unbalanced but they're also likely to DC due to Internet blowing up (more likely) or not liking something (about the same as DC due to "unbalanced").
So for the sake of that, yup. No sympathy here. Blame the one who DCed for the experience. We'll play the target here.

Because it still happened and it needs to be taken into account.
It affects the average game and the average players' experience with the game. We should know what the actual Escape Rate/Kill Rate is.
@camping_site said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3952795#Comment_3952795
It still has 4 players, DC surv is replaced by bot. It would show actual survivor experience becuase often DC is just giving up in a match already lost - 1 tunneled out 3 gens left etc.
But that doesn't take into account of what the match would have been if that person didn't DC. It wouldn't give a clear picture of what the kill/escape rate is either.
Sometimes they DC at the start, sometimes at the end, and sometimes between. And having a bot is not the same as having a "thinking" human player.
-
We got a question: Why should devs count DC matches?
Since a DC happened, it doesn't have the intended set up of 4 players trying to get out alive till the bitter end. So why does that need to count?

Your "state" basically "i have some unsolvable problem (which you haven't actually told us what it is btw) so I shouldn't be punished for DCing". As Emeal said you shouldn't drive a car with faulty brakes and that applies here.
If we Rulebreakers were in your state we wouldn't expect to be able to wreck other matches free of punishment.

Well not indefinitely because if the survivors work as a team (as they should) and pressure 1-3 generators at a time then the mechanic will kick in and gen regression after a kick is 4x slower than repair speeds without any perks, add-on or tool boxes on top of that.
And before any say solo-Q I think there should be an option for in game voice chat and I’m taking about strong survivors with a lot of game knowledge.
While we admit indefinitely was a poor choice of words, it's effectively the gen lock era again, just with a fourth gen. Is it possible to break? Yes. Will it be a prolonged pain in the arse while the killer does this? Yes. And yes basic kick is 4x slower, what killer wouldn't do this without a kick perk or more?
Not even going to touch the in-game voice…

Because he's a stealth killer with good mobility and a anti-loop option?

@gingerGeorge12 said:

And thats the problem it punishes killers who what to kick the gen and it doesn’t need to be for the regression it could be for a perk to activate that’s why I think it is a bad mechanic but with the one I suggested it delays that but it still can work to counteract killers who 3 gen by working when there is 4 gen’s left in the game that aren’t completely
Yet killers in the past have been able to keep gens regressing forever by breaking it again and again with regression. The killer should be focused on killing the survivors rather than trying to kill the gens and the mechanic pressures the killer to comply.
Besides, your suggestion would still allow the killer to hold a 4 gen indefinitely (swamp and dead dawg come to mind) so we don't see it as much better personally.

The killer can do that already in the current game but if this was added it wouldn’t punish killers who like to kick gens constantly.
Also I personally don’t like the current 8 kit limit and all it does is nerf killer, what they should have done is look at the map design and the gen placements instead of adding this stupid mechanic.
Isn't it the idea of the 3-gen system to punish killers whom like to kick gens more than kill survivors?
-
Realistically they could, its more of if they'd want to and how he'd play. Personally, we like something like the reverse reveal mechanics people have been suggesting.

So why are most killers in the 50-60% killrate range? (btw 60% is what BHVR aims for). I don't think many ppl understand the games balance. If lets say half of killers stop tunneling today, then next week the stats would have dropped below 40-50% killrate.
Maybe it is the perfect wake up call needed for it to be understood that we shouldn't try to maintain the 60% KR, it just creates a bad experience for survivors.
We'd argue that the actions killers do makes a worse experience for survivors

Survivor's resources, as I've said.
We started somewhat close, I started around Legion's release. And yes, survivors have more to work with, now they haven't. Not a single thing on the list remained unchanged.
Was it justified? Depends. Some nerfs were needed, others weren't, but the fact is that, either way, survivors lost almost everything they have. Only the bare minimum remains, and in some scenarios not even the bare minimum (deadzones).
The experience deteriorates a lot when you don't really have much to work with.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3947242#Comment_3947242
I would say it helps, my friends, if the devs are willing to act on it. I think we can only have an effective solution if we fix the root of the problem, even if it isn't easy to do so.
Then we'd like to ask for your opinion something.
Let's assume for arguments sake (for the ones we KNOW will come say "but it's not just that" this is a hypothetical) the root of the recent epidemic is that people have gotten used to being able to quit without punishment and become more petty.
Since the metaphorical well is poisoned what could be done that would be satisfactory to the majority?
The poison being the original petty DCers and the trend they set. The well being the player base. A reversion would help somewhat but if the changes that caused this trend were a literal catalyst (like, chemistry catalyst) the problem (the DC epidemic) would remain because the metaphorical well would still be poisoned (the trend being set).
Our three cents would argue that you should heavily discourage the trend you want gone and then slowly introduce a new one you want. But now we're beginning to drift out of topic so we'll stop there.

Of course there is!
The purpose of this thread is to have a discussion about what caused the "Go Next" epidemic to happen, what was its origin, and I believe we are doing just that.
I think it is a valid and important discussion to have.

I agree with this, I think I've said it in another reply, but it is noticeable how less often the game doesn't have an event or modifier going on.
I personally like DBD's events, especially Halloween, but the modifiers are exhausting. Most of them aren't even fun, and they just unnecessarily split the queues and make the matchmaking worse for the regular mode.
Not to put to much a damper on the mood, but don't think that finding the past source will fix what is happening now.
It's like finding out who brought an invasive species. You stopped the culprit, but the damage is done and spreading.
-
We prefer the ol PS4 controller but you only really need something your comfortable using
-
We'd argue its a combination of things.
When we started around Doc we rarely saw people trying to die on hook unless it was the old "swing escape" build. We did however see more actual DCing. Usually it looked like Internet explosions but we'd say at least 1/3 (collectively between us) we're out of petty reasons. Once the DC penalty hit, THOSE survivors went the route of swinging on hook to go next and got mixed in with those swinging out of other semi reasonable reasons (ex: your hooked and the rest slugged). Its not like anyone could really stop them and it wasn't a super large number at the time. Then killers got buffed during the meta shake up and quickly followed by the eruptoverbrine era. Obviously survivors didn't want to spend an hr trying to win and would quit via swing to avoid the penalty. Fair enough, however we don't think most these people stopped quitting when met with something they didn't like. This then started a trend for certain types of players and just spread from there. Now we can't tell if it's a quit out of frustration or a quit because F you.

What?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941809#Comment_3941809
Both sides can be at fault, but when one side does it more often and for more "entitled" reasons, then it tips towards it being a that side problem. Like I said, if the killer doesn't like their odds on the map that is being burnt, they will disconnect. Survivors don't like stealth, hit and run playstyles, especially when solo queueing, which is what indoor map offerings imply 99 out of 100 times.
If you want to talk about offsetting this, killers can bring Franklin's/lightborn/more slowdown to counter every type of item. If a killer sees 4 toolboxes, that's a gen rush playstyle. If a killer sees 4 flashlights, that's a flashlight blind playstyle. Killers have this knowledge and can even lobby dodge. That is the equivalent of a survivor DCing against a map offering.
This means killers have another set of information to decide whether or not they want to play the match, that being the offering screen. That is how this is a killer issue. They have two instances where they can essentially back out of a match for free if it isn't in their favor.
You seem so sure that killers are doing it more…
Regardless of that line of thought, we could point out how we see more survivors bail, but the fact that we saw a post that literally states they will bail as trapper when they see a map offering means any else will be mute or somehow someone will come make a similar post as that one.
Everyone wants to play that game, by all means, floors yours.

They CAN lose, nobody said they can’t. However, I’d be willing to bet that one side is significantly more likely to win, and you’d be bullshitting yourself and the rest of us if you claim it’s not the Nurse or the Blight.
And yet you've been haggling over THAT instead of the main point, the people quitting for various reasons and wrecking matches, so what were we to say? People can do it, people have done yet you've made it sound like it's impossible less the killer lets them. We're following your lead in this dance.

You also have no idea if he tried or not. Be honest, good Blights don't lose. They literally have winstreaks in the thousands. It can't be a secret any longer that the game is kinda broken at a fundamental level and it's certainly not for survivors.
Welp, since he was trying every usual trick blights do, we'll happy to assume yes he was. We also got the benefits of actually being there.
Being honest, it depends on the skills of both sides. Good blights can lose. Good nurses can lose. Good [insert whoever] can infact lose if the survivors are good enough. But what do we see? "Ohh it's this thing, I'ma bail." When someone bails at the start THEN you can say they can't be beat.
-
@mecca said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941782#Comment_3941782
The Blight more than likely barely played and still won. Blight is a killer that does not lose when played to win.
Since 6.1, survivors have to play perfectly against a killer making a ton of mistakes and playing suboptimally for survivors to win which most people know this because the win objectives feel very out of reach for survivors. Pushing that under the rug is a detriment to the game.
Pretty sure blighty tried his damnedest to kill us, but ya know, you were obviously there so you must know he wasn't playing to win.
Since 6.1, survivors have to play perfectly against a killer making a ton of mistakes and playing suboptimally for survivors to win
Objectively false. If the killer is making more mistakes or impactful mistakes, survivors are much more likely to win.
As we said the first time, when a survivor simply quits at the start of the trial, that's what makes us not want to play, cause it becomes a unfair match and any sense of victory (whether "winning" is escape or just having fun) is out of reach. Due. To. That.
-
@Valuetown said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941790#Comment_3941790
It's a killer sided issue because killers buy into the "bad map, instalose" fallacy more than survivors. Survivors MIGHT DC if they see Midwich or any other indoor map because that signals a boring stealth killer hit and run game. I don't condone that behavior, but the fact is those are two different situations. One is for playstyle, the other is for not having the map stacked in your favor.
Yet since survivors do it too (it's not a maybe, it has and does happen), doesn't that make it a both sides issue?
-
@mecca said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3941773#Comment_3941773
Well, people are quitting because the game is too snow bally and unbalanced. Do you really think you can win if a Blight has hooked 3 or more people before a gen is even finished? It's easy to see how unbalanced the game is with no winning opportunity for the survivor.
First it's always been snowbally. One critical mistake costs games. That's been here since atleast 2017, yet this epidemic is "relatively" recent.
Second, how are you so sure that the majority are quitting at the start of the match due to that? We've seen people quit at the first sign of a plague or, heavens forbid, that dastardly trickster...whom are so unbalanced. The fact is, there are SO many reasons people quit that it's practically impossible to tell the reason.
Third, once had someone go down to a blight in about 30 seconds on midwitch and start swinging. The rest of the team played it out and we got 4 gens done... think we woulda had a shot at escape that time. The point of this story is that YOU DON'T KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY. When people quit in the trial any semblance of a chance then relies on the killer's mercy. Think that's balanced?
Fourth it's very hard to tell balance when people keep throwing matches cause those become unbalanced.
-

Bingo. People forget it's a video game.
It gives a very bad outlook that we are literally punishing people for not wanting to play rather than encouraging them to play.
When people keep quitting repeatedly, it makes us not want to play because we can't play a full "fair" match…
-
Billy and Bubba.
Bubbas is basically "walk to survivor, rev saw, try to down survivor with saw no matter what, repeat".Billy is similar to the above, except a faster timetable. A playstyle of "sprint across map till survivor is found, get to m1 range, rev saw, try downing with saw no matter what, repeat" with occasional "curve at this loop".
We can often guess their perks within the first 30 seconds of discovering who it is too, which doesn't help.

Out of curiosity, is there an official statement or something that we missed saying that bhvr is working with Disney and it's specifically about star wars?

It wasn’t and hasn’t ever been as bad as people make out. I’ve been playing well before the DC penalty was a thing and people didn’t DC as much as everybody tries to make out. It’s the killer players who want to tunnel people at 5 gens and try to bleed everybody out who complained the most as they’re only having fun when they’re actively making other people miserable. Maybe you like that sort of thing?
Yes it was and had been. We've been here since Doc came out and dcs were as common as "going next" is today. Then the DC penalty came and it cut down (with the caveat of people now giving up in other ways). When it turned off again, it WAS rampant dcs from both sides. And yes, both sides, it wasn't only killers complaining, survivors complained cause killers also DC rampantly and that left no trial.
You couldn't comprehend what the 3 of us like
-
We have the DC penalty so people don't leave at the drop of a hat repeatedly for potentially asinine reasons.
When the DC penalty was off it's almost impossible to go 10 games without a DC from someone. We'd personally like to play a multiplayer game with actual people.
