It’s impossible to have a civil discussion because you have stubborn people calling people who play in SWF “cheaters” even though the devs have already come out and said IT IS NOT CHEATING.
Facts trump your emotions.
Also, the majority of players I face are within the potato - decent range, including SWF. If you constantly lose as killer versus SWF, you’re probably just bad.

So then the killer doesn't deserve to have any fun either? Because I can tell you going against the fully stacked survive with friends groups in which three of them are more than likely red rankst with only one person that just happens to be my rank who are using voice comms are freely communicate and abused imechanic not intended to be in the game why wouldn't I want to know so that I can bring good add-ons and possibly mori so that I can quickly even the odds?
You do know that most SWF teams are potatoes right? People like you are why it should NEVER be shown if a team is SWF during the lobby.

Just make it work the way BT does, gotta be in that terror radius while getting unhooked
So all stealth killers can bypass BT and DS as well? Horrible idea.
To the OP - The counterplay to DS is slugging and/or going for the rescuing survivor rather than the one that got unhooked.
-
Let’s see it in action before we comment. It’s a completely new playstyle for Leatherface, so we need data before judging whether a cooldown is justified or not.
-
There is zero harm in releasing statistics to the community, they’re just numbers.
Who cares if people make assumptions based on what is revealed? People with knowledge of the game will understand how to read the stats and make educated comments regarding them.
For example, we know Freddy is widely picked and has a high kill rate because of his strong, easy to use kit which doesn’t require mechanical skill nor much strategic thought.

Yes I know. But even tho they don't HAVE to loop Frenzy. Back when he was 125% they could do so anyways. Meaning that even if he could down in Frenzy he would be unable to do so in certain loops (a minority of loops but still).
A 120% Killer without the super vaults would thus also be loopable. Not as loopable as a 115% Killer, but more loopable than a Nurse or Hag for example.
Any decent player can get the first Feral Frenzy hit with Legion, guaranteed. It lasts too long, and even if you fake a pallet drop to make Legion respect a pallet, he’s fast enough to catch up.
Not sure what these god loops you’re referring to are.
-
What would a FNAF killer’s power be? Jumpscares? Hag already has that, and there’s (decent) lore behind it.
I get it’s a “horror game”, but think about how it could fit into DBD other than just because you like the franchise.

Yes and it STILL wasn't consistently enough.
So if Survivors can loop a 125% Killer with super vaults. I think they can loop a 120% Killer with no additional anti-loop.
No one has to “loop” Legion while he’s in Frenzy, he can’t down you!!! All you’re doing is trying to delay his first Feral Frenzy hit...
Once he gets out of Feral Frenzy he’s a regular 115% killer.
The OP is alluding to having a killer moving at 120% with the ability to down.

You sir get an up vote for taking the time to actually respond. thank you.
For the most part I agree with you, I however want to try and push whats possible in this game for survivor and killer designs/mechanics. It's why I made this post, to try and see what the community could come up with to create something interesting.
Thanks.
I would rather see something like this if a 120% mechanic came into the game (this is not a fully fleshed idea):
Killer has 2 modes similar to old Doctor with treatment and punishment mode.
1) Speed mode (120%) - Killer does a slight animation to get into this stance. During this mode, speed is 120%, can vault windows and pallets like Legion, FOV is lowered, and CANNOT perform any attacks. Good for traversing the map and bypassing certain lengthy loops like the Saloon. It would have a slight cooldown like Feral Frenzy (but much shorter) so people can’t use it to traverse the map infinitely forever or misuse it without risk at loops.
2) Attack mode. Speed is 115% or lower. Insert random “special ability” here (like I said, not fully fleshed out).
Switching between both modes has a small animation so it’s not abusable.
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
Let me also remind people that the Legion before his most recent buff was often unable to get a hit in on Survivors in stronger loops.
At the time he was a 125% Killer with a significantly increased vault speed.
They had to buff him to a 130% Killer with an even faster vault speed for him to get hits in reliably under those circumstances.
A Killer that has 120% MS, 40 meter TR and absolutely nothing else would be underpowered.
Legion’s feral frenzy can’t down anyone, and it’s limited. That a HUGE difference from base 120% speed.

This is oof if you thinks it's crazy, pretty harsh reaction to a fun idea.
Also weirdly cute that you are speaking for peanits, like you know what he would think.
You’re right, I don’t know what he’d think.
What I do know is that 120% base speed would be broken when factoring in other perks and game mechanics. Let me consider your “balance ideas”:
Option 1 / Wind Up on Basic Attack -
All you’d have to do is time your windup and you’d get the survivor at any standard loop. I also don’t believe the devs would want to stray away from changing a base mechanic like the standard basic attack (speed, range of lunge, etc).
Option 2 / 120% in Chase, 110% or lower outside of chase -
120% is so strong that a killer would have to be slower than Nurse to compensate. That would lead to very boring/tedious map patrols and dull gameplay for both sides.
Option 3 / 3 hits to down a survivor -
I think this mechanic could easily be added (the first hit adding a unique status effect that then allows the next two hits to down), but I don’t realistically think the devs want to stray from the norm of either an instadown or 2 hits to down. Also, this would be very unrewarding gameplay... the fact that this killer would need 3 hits to down a survivor means he’s so strong/fast that an extra hit would be easy to obtain. Survivors would have little chance to outplay the killer.
-
@MongolPSR said:
@Peanits Thoughts?
Peanits doesn’t need to give his opinion on something crazy like this.
120% permanent speed is broken... then you add bloodlust to equation... and then you factor in NOED and PWYF... You’ve got the recipe for a braindead killer with zero counterplay.
-
Haddonfield isn’t nearly as bad as pallet city Ormond.
-
The man is running NOED and Insta Saw + Increased Chainsaw Speed addons... I’d say matchmaking is working perfectly.
-
Yes, it means more SWF. Do you have a problem with that?

Two years of playing solo survivor and killer at rank 1 has corrupted me.
Again, I find it concerning that you have more of an issue of me preventing immersive survivors from getting altruism points, then survivors who just urban evade around the map, these survivors are the reason why solo survivor can be so frustrating. It would be understandable if these survivors were rank 20 but they're not, they're red ranks.
Plus, it wasn't like I planned to let go off struggle the moment my team mate tried to save me. I was on a run of terrible games, and in a moment I just decided "screw it" and let go, take a break from the game and try my luck later on.
If it’s a one-off situation like you described, alright... but this thread is spot on with the statement that MANY people do this, and it happens pretty frequently.
-
Spirit has a lengthy cooldown on her ability.
Freddy has a cooldown on his teleport, but none for his snares (which are countered by staying awake).
Next.
-
I don’t make a habit of tunneling but I’ll get hit by DS now and then when I miscount 60 seconds in the heat of a game.
When I slug I have full knowledge that Unbreakable exists, yet I’ll do it because it’s a necessary strategy sometimes.
Both perks aren’t a major issue to me, as a killer player.

This.
I had a game on Yamoaka (My least favourite map), where I had a six minute chase against a rank 2 Hillbilly, and only one generator was completed. I saw two survivors urban evading around the map, and another in the basement searching a chest.
By the time my team mates got round to unhooking me, I was in struggle state and just before one of the randoms could unhook me I let go as I didn't want to give that player altruism points. Plus playing on Yamoaka with useless team mates is a match I do not want to be in.
This is the kind of thinking that’s wrong with our community.
If you’re frustrated because your team sucks, cool - suicide on hook... but don’t be a dick and ######### in front of someone about to save you.

I'll just watch OhTofu stream now to check him out on the PTB just to see his reaction on the change and most probably come back to this thread and laugh out loud about those minimal knowledge predictions
Basically this. I’m going to wait and see how a high level Billy performs before saying Billy is “ruined”. Just going off the dev notes, the only change is that Billy can no longer:
1) Camp indefinitely
2) Chainsaw across the map forever
3) “Mindgame” loops forever to get a curve
4) Hold their chainsaw behind juking survivors forever until they’re 100% sure they’ll land the hit
-
What if after a totem is broken, the effects persist for an additional 30 seconds? Obviously this wouldn’t apply to totems like Haunted or Retribution but it would at least be a nice buffer.

Pyramid Head’s perk causes screaming after a heal as well.

That's the right way to go about it. There's no such thing as "hints" that someone is gay. LGBT people are just people, they come in all shapes and sizes.
While it’s true people come in all shapes and sizes, dress and mannerisms are very good indicators (hint).
Mannerisms aren’t really programmed into the characters besides how they stand (David clenches his fist like a tough macho guy when he’s walking, for example) so that would be hard to show.
How they dress would be a really obvious way to demonstrate an orientation, should BHVR decide they want a new character or cosmetic to “stand out”. For example, a combination of painted nails, tight pants, earrings etc. would be one way. Again, I’m not saying all gay men dress or act flamboyantly but there are definitely “gay looks”.
-
Seriously? Huntress is a lesbian because she kidnaps girls?
Tomorrow’s topic: David King is gay because he touches men with his fists.
-
500 BPs is inconsequential... just seems like a poorly-thought out event.
Bonus BPs for using Special Generators and Hooks would definitely have been a better, less frustrating option.
-
@Survivors ... Stop expecting killers to give you a free escape just because you have a golden sparkle. The event doesn’t have special rules for letting survivors get crowns without interruption from the killer.

Then it's not "variety."
My big brain tells me that giving everyone the same cosmetics, everyone will start looking the same. You want exclusives and timed cosmetics in order for them to look different. A Fox Headed Huntress was rare to see, a Golden Jacket David from time to time was nice to see.
Now they're everywhere, this isn't "Variety."
My big brain tells me that you think conforming = variety.
It isn't.
It was rare because a lot of people lost their cosmetics due to glitches, hence the reason for the devs deciding to release these to everyone so those that rightfully earned their could get them back (since it was impossible to identify them otherwise).

More like "waaaahh, I didnt get to play during the event to get the event exclusives. This is not fair, everybody needs to have them" And yeah you're right, you didnt pay for them, that was my bad.
You also forget that the devs have stated that there is no other way to grant these event skins to players who lost them through glitches (there was no way to identify those specific players). The easiest way was to unlock Summer BBQ/Lunar New Year for everyone to ensure that those people that earned them could have them again.

lolwut Every David I've gone against today had that Golden Jacket.
So much for "variety."
Well duh, they just got released. Use that Big Brain you claim to have to understand that people will most likely use newly released cosmetics. After the first couple days it changes.
Also, now the people that had “earned” their Summer BBQ but lost them due to glitches have it available now. Shouldn’t you be glad for them?

They definetly do not add variety, now that everyone has them... And what about the people that paid for the cosmetics?
No one “paid” for Summer BBQ skins. It’s simply an entitlement issue... “waaaah, I EARNED my digital skins that provide no meaningful value to my life but NO ONE else should have them!”

New map has one and the one on saloon forces you to break wall, which gives survivor enough time to reach another loop.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1371128#Comment_1371128
Or you just use bell addons and utilise hit and run tactic for even better results. His chase even with additional speed isn't the greatest and on the loop the best use of this is for longer lunge.
Once they’re broken it’s no longer an “infinite”. Saloon’s other loops and pallets are dog crap for survivors so it’s highly recommended to break one or two near the start of the game.
-
@LastShoe said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1370976#Comment_1370976
Well, they are not old infinites but still... if there is a loop that can take 50+ seconds you can safely call it infinite imo, simply because result is the same, you loose the match because of chasing there.
Those 50+ second loops can be reduced by breaking a pallet or wall. The old “infinites” have been removed like Haddonfield’s window/BL loops.
-
It’s the collective consciousness of all killer mains.
-
I’m disgusted that people still use the term “infinite” in the current state of DBD.
People will say any loop that take up 20+ seconds is an infinite.
-
Could it be to reduce endgame trash talking on console?
-
DS just needs to punish stupid plays like going for unhooks. Make it so DS deactivates after unhooking another survivor and/or once you’ve fully healed.
-
Forget the pallets... the totem spawns are atrocious for locating... but killers running NOED will say “jUsT dO aLL tHe tOtEMs”

Sorry I didn’t mean your posts with the irony (you were using the word forced but with quotes and not the same way as others) nor did I mean to say you were sounding aggressive.
Lore and backstory don’t mean anything to me in this game, too. I didn’t even notice that they were contradicting themselves with those mentions of straight relationships nor have I given them a second thought. And I would never have spoken out that there needs to be LGBT+ in any way in DbD. It’s just with the tweet I can see why people asked for it and why BHVR decided to re-evaluate their stance, and this is totally fair.
plus personally I really think with the lore growing bigger and deeper they would naturally have come to this step some day on their own, since LGBT+ is not only about sexuality but about individuality, personal growth, struggles and hopes etc.
I just struggle to feel immersed in the survivor characters since A) they have no voice lines; B) have no variation in gameplay; and C) biographies don’t contribute to my enjoyment of the game.
As for killers... well you’re just killing survivors of all walks of life, and it’s primarily a first person role (aside from some Mori animations).
With that said, BHVR can include whatever they want - it’s their game. If they do end up including that, the game will still be the same to me even though I will never purchase any cosmetics relating to it (like a pride shirt, etc.)... just like I don’t buy other standard cosmetics I don’t like. If it’s a gay survivor or killer with a gay backstory but they actually have good perks/power then that won’t stop me from buying it either.
-
@Mooks said:

It doesn’t sound „forced“ at all though. They made a mistake with adding hetero relationships, no one really cried out about it as far as I have seen it. And there were -if any at all- very few forum posts dedicated to it.
they can’t turn back and just take those lore entries away. So they revised their prior statement and now there is no reason to not add LGBT. They are not forced to include it now. They are just not forced anymore to exclude it, which they were before. And this was forced on them by themselves.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1362010#Comment_1362010
thank you for this! For me that doesn’t come as as aggressive. Many other posts here however do.. 😉
and yeah I love this irony of trying to force them not to include LGBT+ because they are „forced“ to include it. That actually always makes me laugh
BHVR includes what they want, they have done it before and just changed their statement now. That shouldn’t be such a big deal when it’s only affecting lore entries, and even then only new lore entries.
Like I’ve said in the past, it’s a 4v1 asymmetrical horror game where all survivors are basically just skins with no variation in ability aside from the perks they use (which everyone has access to)... lore/character sexuality has ZERO bearing on the actual gameplay therefore it’s of little consequence to me.
I don’t think my posts are ironic at all, as I am not actively creating new threads trying to force my viewpoint on the devs or anyone else like SOME people here actually are.
I do appreciate your maturity in your responses though @Mooks.

The tweet doesn’t indicate they will include it for representations sake. They actually stated before they don’t want to do it because of it. They will include LGBT now because they already added hetero relations and they don’t want to explicitly exclude LGBT themes.
we will have to see how BHVR will include this in the future, as of now nothing more than some lore should be expected.
“They will include LGBT now because they already added hetero relations...”
Sounds “forced”, but its whatever. They don’t have to do it, but based on what you’re describing it seems like they think they’d “look bad“ by not including any, which of course is completely ludicrous. The game doesn’t “need” any specific demographic. Just because a heterosexual relationship is referenced, it doesn’t mean a homosexual one needs to.
-
@Mooks said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1357715#Comment_1357715
No backstory to characters sexualities? So they should go back and remove those already mentioned? You didn’t voice this opinion when they made Julies and Franks tome story available or gave part of Aces cosmetics descriptions that mention sexuality in a way.
you say there is no reason to „force them in“ but there really is just no reason to leave LGBT out, we already got straight relationships and LGBT is not all about sex, it’s about the person, their identity, relationships, personal developement and growth, struggles and hopes in their life. With BHVR making ever more backstory entries and going deeper, this is something they shouldn’t leave out just to please you, or they would restrict their creativity and options.
Lore was there from the beginning and it will stay. And those creating the lore are probably not the same that work on gameplay mechanics or bugs etc. And for all we know they won’t create dedicated characters only for the sake of it, but incorporate LGBT+themes just naturally like straight themes before.
if it doesn’t matter to you, chances are you wouldn’t even notice it, but there will be people happy about it. And as long as they don’t go into sexual stuff (which really doesn’t belong in DbD) let them mention that a male character had a boyfriend, there is no harm in it.
I agree with your last paragraph. If BHVR actually WANTS to make a character with a gay backstory/biography? Ok, fine.
I just dislike people wanting representation like if its owed to them. Like I want more Latino characters in DBD but I’m not offended if more aren’t added or pushing for it to happen. And just to clarify: requesting it is fine... but feeling that it needs to be included is not (that’s entitlement). All of a sudden there’s like 3+ threads about this going on... so that’s my basis.
We’ll just see what BHVR wants to include in the future. Maybe they’ll send out another survey and people will get a chance to express their wishes for pride characters there.

If it doesn’t matter, why not just include LGBT. As you stated it doesn’t matter.
also why include straight relationships? Wouldn’t matter at all. But here we are.
there is no harm in this inclusion. Either you are happy about it, or you don’t care, or you have something against it.
I’m of the camp that prefers no backstory to the characters sexualities, unless its already been established due to a licensed characters biography, etc.
I don’t like kneejerk decisions being made due to vocal minorities. For example, we had people complaining that Bubba’s “blackface” (Claudette) mask cosmetic was racist and wanted it removed from the game. Not the same situation with people wanting LGBTXYZ characters included, but there’s no reason to force them in since they have no bearing on the game. I’d prefer the devs focus on fixing gameplay issues or coming up more interesting/useful perks than designing a rainbow survivor or killer. You know, stuff that actually matters.

Gonna be fun! I will also do a new thread announcing the date of the Premier!
Thanks, man! Looking forward to it.
-
Because the vocal minority want to be “represented” in areas where it doesn’t really matter. And if you exclude said minorities they will throw a hissy fit.
I’ve barely given a second thought to the character’s backstories in DBD since it’s a repetitive 4v1 with no world-building outside of the mumble cutscenes that come with the Tome challenges. Lore has little to no bearing on the enjoyment (or frustration, depending on the player) of the actual gameplay.
We could have 20 straight white survivors and the game would still be about working on gens, looping killers to oblivion, killers facecamping and/or mori-ing off of first hook, etc.
Why does David King need to be bisexual or gay? He doesn’t. If someone wants to fantasize about him then that’s their prerogative and none of our business. But in my opinion the devs shouldn’t force sexualities on characters to “make a statement” or show that “they care”... because apparently it sounds like they made a boo boo on Twitter and now have to include LGBTQXYZ characters or people will go ballistic.

I speculate we don't know unless the characters tell us.
On a side note this is the internet. What reprieve do you actually expect from it? Especially on these forums.
And a "lifestyle" is literally means how a person or group lives, so what you call sexual orientation is included in that. And can you clarify what opinions being shoved down whose throats? There are so many cases of it that it's hard to tell which you're referring to.
Side note - I find the use of the “shoving down throats” expression in this thread to be hilarious, because its fits perfectly with the people using it.
