  • This is why I'm glad bouquets got removed.

  • At this point in time, whether or not survivors get less BP is irrelevant. The perception that they do is starting to cause major problems for the game, so I support buffs to survivor point gain.

  • Real talk again: I keep getting teammates who don't understand what "broken" does. I don't understand how, but I am not lying or exaggerating. I've had people follow me around trying to heal me while I am under the effects of "No Mither" or "Deliverance".

  • @Das_Only That was in response to someone else lol.

  • The Plague is semi-viable. The problem is that it's not..... "fun"? The fun part of the power is the Corrupt Purge. Being an M1 killer for the majority of the game is very very boring.

  • It should take the highest rank of the group, not the average.

2 1's and 2 20's =/= Rank 10 killer. Any system that treats that as fair matchmaking is unfairly punishing the rank 10 killer; when it's the SWF choosing to have an inherently unbalanced matchup.

  • Put a different way, let's say I find the most potato survivor ever who I can easily catch within 16 seconds once they get off my shoulder.

I could easily hold the game hostage for a significant amount of time if that 16 seconds was a lot longer or the cooldown wasn't longer than the duration.

Edit: Even if the cooldown was just barely longer than the duration; I could keep "refreshing" it until someone gave in and revealed their location to me. The current implementation gives you about 30 seconds to get on gens where the killer can't know where you are while simultaneously preventing the killer from holding the game pseudo-hostage.

  • @LordGlint said:

@ClogWench Dunno why it has such a huge cooldown anyway. How could you POSSIBLY abuse this perk?

It's to prevent people from picking up and dropping survivors 3-4 times to keep gens locked down for an entire minute. If it wouldn't be a good strategy then you could at least needlessly extend games with it.

  • 60 seconds would be too long; because it also blocks off generators once you get off of them; and you can just "refresh" every so often when it comes off of cooldown. 30 seconds would definitely be a better number to try first.

  • This may be that they are trying to maintain update parity with console. You can't patch as often on console due to the cost of the certification process.

  • If you are downed, and someone comes up to heal you while they have a medkit, let them try it if you are hopelessly screwed otherwise.

I've had 7 people die today because I had an instaheal and they wouldn't let me heal them out of .......... I don't know spite maybe?

  • In an ideal world, both sides would get so much BP (compared to the amount needed for the grind) that you wouldn't have to care which one got more.

  • @Andreyu44 said:

You killer mains definitely ran out of ideas of survivor things to complain about

Oh heck no. We haven't even gotten Iron will nerfed to not affect spirit during phasewalk yet.

  • They are scaling the survivor blood points up based on how long they are in a match. So they'll only get more BP if they don't die.

Well, in way, you're using a good measuring stick.

If all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Freddy together again....

Who would be foolish enough to think they could do any better with map reworks?

It is highly likely that Freddy is being balanced with the post-map-rework game state in mind; not the one we have now. It is my personal theory that they have an "ideal" balance state in mind for after the map rework that would not be considered a viable killer prior to it.

  • I apologize. I just have the personality type where I have to over-analyze everything.

It appears your avatar is a cat suspicious of something. But what??????

  • Real real talk: @Peanits Are we going to have to wait for dedicated servers to get the husk thing? B/c that seems like that could work without the new punishments.

    Not all heroes wear capes.

Disregard this if you're wearing a cape. Although that would be weird.

The only weird ones are the people who think they are normal.

Edit: Real talk, a colleague of mine at my old job sincerely thought he was the only "normal" person at our office. My reasoning was that that made him the only really weird one.

  • @Rizzo said:

It will just make survivor more appealing as role, so, in theory, it would be harder to create a situation like the one we had in these past few weeks, where everyone was playing killer because more rewarding (bloodpoint-wise).

    @Rizzo90

Caveat: Unless they only give killers the event offerings (effectively; survivors had them much much much more rare) again. Or they repeat something like Hallowed Blight where survivors were done with the event once they hit their goal.

  • @DarkGGhost

Just because you earned the blood points playing survivor doesn't mean you can't spend them on leveling up killers.

  • I'm the kind of friend who doesn't want half my games ruined because someone is overly salty about something stupid. I'm also the kind of friend who doesn't want to have to wait out a ban timer several times in a row because someone can't behave. Finally, I'm the kind of friend who gives a ######### about ruining the game for random people on the internet.

  • Two Things

    1. The goal is for no-one to feel "forced" to play one side in order to efficiently grind blood points.
    2. There is not a likely downside to the killer for the survivors getting more BP in the ways mentioned. It's not like unhooking got buffed...
  • Please make it at least an hour after some point. 15 minutes is them making me stream a killer game.

Is it possible to use Discordance to hit a survivor halfway across the map with a fully charged hatchet?

I always thought it'd be lulzy to do.

The real challenge is to get a down without iridescent heads. Only managed it twice.

  • @Riddick said:

I was hoping they would also mention a reduction of the grind, although this should help a bit :)

They are going to have to do this at some point. By the end of year 4 the game will have over 100 teachables in it.

  • How fast will this ramp up? I have a friend who DC's a lot right now on PS4; and I'm hoping he gets severely punished by this after the first couple times so he stops doing it. Especially since it affects SWF now.

    @Peanits

  • You know what? If it reduces killer queues, I'm all for the changes. Good job BHVR!

Survivor queues on the other hand might get a bit worse...

  • It's still coming out today. It's just..... whenever though. They don't really pick a time for developer updates for whatever reason as long as it's by COB.

  • Please god don't let this become the new creepy pasta.

  • The Simple Solution Proposed: "Just do what I want."

    Other People: "No."

..... Didn't work out that simple did it?

  • @Tsulan said:

We need to bring the old DS back, instant Flashlights, white blinding Flashlights, pallet teleports, increase number of pallets, reduce SC heal time and increase the WGLF BP bonus to 200%.

Then killer lobbies will be instant and survivor lobbies will take around 45+ minutes.

    And yes, this is sarcasm.

Except for the white blinding flashlights; I could dig it.

  • @Peanits

Killers have no control over their gatekeeper at a high rank. At all. It's entirely based on how much the survivors goof around and how long Ruin stays up.

Killers also really can't control their Devout, because if the survivor DC's you just miss out on points in that category.

And chaser arbitrarily punishes several killers for using their power correctly.

in Pip system Comment by Redd
  • They can't separate SWF from Solos.

First things first, they'd have to completely ban 3 person groups and limit to groups of 2 and groups of 4.

Second, they would need to offer severe benefits to get most killers to put up with the "SWF mode". Even if you buffed the solo survivors a lot of people would prefer to go play that mode instead.

Third, people could just lobby dodge until they end up in lobbies with their friends in the solo mode like they did before SWF was a thing.

And Fourth, there's nothing preventing people on consoles from inviting lobby mates to a party.

It's simply not a feasible thing to do, so they need to make the game balanced for both.

  • People just stereotype that survivors run their teachables. Unbreakable and Borrowed Time are quite .... interesting to deal with.

  • I look forward to finally being able to hate Bill mains like people on PC.

  • Today I've had:

    • Teammates try to heal me while I'm broken.
    • Teammates lead the killer to me while I'm injured or broken. Dozens of times today alone.
    • Teammates following me around for no good reason, going so far as to run around my hiding spot while the killer is RIGHT THERE!!!
    • The standard dc'ing and suiciding on hook.
    • Teammates refusing to let me heal them with We'll Make It instead of self-caring. I don't do much math, but me healing them is 4x faster.
    • The standard brainless altruism.
    • The standard brainless altruism except they just crouch there instead of actually saving me or doing something useful.
    • Teammates spending all game looking for Ruin.
    • Teammates who lasted less than 10 seconds in chase against an M1 killer when that chase started with them at full health.
    • Immersed Claudettes.
    • Immersed Dwights.
    • Very very bad matchmaking. Lots of rank 18-20 teammates. Not their fault.

I've still at least safety pipped in the vast (>80%) majority of my games today.

  • @fluffymareep said:

Won't it still have negative affects while a person is asleep? It's also passive and allows Freddy to hit people even while they're awake. People need to stop treating this like a nerf. It's like they don't even know what that word means.

Not really a counter per se...

Did you know that is only 2-3 inches below the average for first world countries?

  • @KaoMinerva said:

I told y'all it would be a nerf. They are too scared to make a killer that's actually threatening

I think they are aiming to make every killer somewhere around a "viable M1 killer" level; and then they hope to balance the game so that M1 killers are viable.

It's just going to feel bad in the meantime when the rework we've been waiting 2 years for might be unusable at red ranks without rare high tier add-ons.

  • @Peanits

    For Dream Snares:

When in a chase, you would play against Freddy exactly like you would against Clown, unless Freddy is playing like a pseudo-Trapper in which case maybe he wastes so much of his own time that he can get a free hit but there are other problems attached to that.

When not in a chase, the traps don't do anything. They don't stop you from gen-rushing.

    For Dream Pallets:

These may end up being slightly better than the Snares at base, but requiring a Green+ add-on and being inherently down an add-on slot is going to severely hurt any viability they could have given Freddy over the Snares.

    For Dream Projection:

Survivors get enough warning that they can just run to the nearest pallet. Again, your new killer is completely vulnerable to the same mechanic that makes every other M1 killer weak.

    For waking-up vs sleeping:

First of all, it is now harder to put them to sleep at the beginning of a chase. That first hit is not free, so it is entirely possible that you will have to wait up to a max of 90 seconds to be able to use your Dream Snares or Dream Pallets while getting looped. That is an atrocious time to be stuck chasing a survivor.

Best case though, if the power actually turns out to be "good", you are just a better Clown for the most part. If Freddy does actually turn out to be a better Clown. That means that, without add-ons, there is no real reason to wake up in any situation where it is inconvenient for you to do so. And relying on add-ons for a killer to be good is terrible game design, so I really hope Freddy doesn't need Green+ add-ons to be good.

    EGC:

During the most important part of the game, the climax, the piece de resistance..... Freddy is literally somewhere from a vanilla M1 killer to a Clown depending on how good your Snares are. Why does Freddy's power actively get worse as the game goes on?

    ---------------

People frequently say that we should wait to criticize the new designs until they are out on PTB, but in this case I think expressing the above concerns is warranted because the new Freddy is not that different from non-viable killers we currently have. Unless the add-ons are stupid broken, I'm worried about our SweaterBoi.

Me as a survivor damn ... first i'm too short and I don't run fast at all... LOL

But maybe being short has some advantages *deeply thinking about being a survivor*

@Patricia You can't be that much shorter than Feng Min.

  • Beads + Necklace, Omega Blink, and 5-Blink are the 3 most powerful builds in the game. Each one needs a nerf.

Which is terrible design. A killer should never have an add on that they HAVE to take. They shouldn't be limited to 1 add on slot to not feel like a literal joke.

It’s also a core dbd philosophy.

  • Given the reaction to the last several killers; people seem to expect bad killers.

  • I’m guessing 3 week ptb or double saw week.

Not to be mean. However, if you watched the game-play during the devs stream your eyes could have taken notice to it.

It's very easy to miss this in the footage since it's such a massive detail that we should have gotten it directly. Like...... should we really be analyzing every second of footage in real time while also paying attention to them talking in order to discuss what's different from what they are saying?

  • @Peanits

That would have been the single most important reveal of the entire stream if they had said it. I don't understand how that good overlooked.

  • I don't think that's the reason he may end up being bad.

In a chase he is going to be a worse clown without add-ons if they aren't asleep yet. The ability to teleport to gens isn't going to make him shut down loops that much faster; so I'm not sure if a teleporting Clown-lite is a viable killer.

  • @se05239 said:

The snares by themselves are gonna put Clown out of commission.

The true laughing stock of Dead by Daylight happened to be a literal clown.

This just means you are bad at playing Clown. The gas is way more useful than the Dream Snares have the potential to be.
