  • Its a 1v4 game. If survivors mistakes counted for even close to as much as the killers did this game would have died a long time ago. There are more survivors more chances for mistakes, its up to the killer to take advantage of that.

Yes its "stressful" and kind of frustrating at points but thats the role you choose as killer. And thats what makes it awesome when you outplay them despite that and win.

I'm tryna think about things that annoy me and bar toxic and smoll pp builds there really isn't much, most of the time when I get a creative build I'm just happy to face something new. Maybe Head On, Quick And Quiet, Self Care, saboteur ?

Something with diversion, any means or breakout, I really dunno how to be annoying lmao

All I can think about that really truly annoys me which isnt just "playing the game". Is when survivors use DS/BT(or styptic)/Unbreakable to stop me downing someone else. Bodyblock me if you must, but dont run at me with BT on to stop me from downing someone else, or "force" me to grab you while DS is up. Or you know, use DS + Unbreakable. Thats really it. But I would say thats on the devs to stop that from going on. Up to them to make their perks harder to abuse.

I know, thats why at the beginning I said "This mostly seems to be out of BHVRs control."

Fair enough, missed that one. Usually just skim the unnesscesary to get to the point.

  • Hmm weird after the first few games on each killer I have been steadily getting better and better games.

Nightmare On Elm Street is the only movie to still scare me slightly, Its not because of anything in the movie, Its because I always have really bad nightmares after I watch them (Fitting I know). And while I still like Scream a little more, NOES is certainly still a licence I hold in high regard. Which is why it hurts so much to see NOES get done so dirty.

This seems to mostly be out of BHVRs control but I feel like bringing it up anyway. The chapter is only available on PC, PS4, and Xbox one. Its not on Switch, Stadia (I think, no one talks about stadia), the windows store, or mobile.

And the chapter kinda stinks. To start the map has got to be the most generic one in the entire game, literally the only thing that even makes me think NOES is the basement, and its also super generic by boiler room standards.

People seem to like Quentin but his perks aren't the best and his own movie actor isn't satisfied with the face quality.

Freddy is the pedo, not the absolute chad we know as Robert Englund (Not BHVRs fault but it still sucks). His power is so god damn boring I'd hate it even if I didn't think it was too strong. A video came out with some concepts to make him more fun and unique if you'd like to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03awNfPmnwM.

Is there anyway BHVR can give NOES a second look? Where they give Freddy a cooler power and possibly an old school skin, and rework Quentins perks and face, And make Badham not completely suck? Seriously Badham is so generic I actually forgot its name until that last sentence. Thanks for reading.

Edit: I forgot to press the enter key originally, fixed that issue.

"...his own movie actor isn't satisfied with the face quality"

"Much like Laurie Strode, Quentin does not have a direct resemblance to his film appearance, possibly due to the developers being unable to obtain the likeness rights to Quentin's original actor, Kyle Gallner"

Probably the reason why he looks nothing like his actor.

Regardless, it’s still a counter. If only survivors could counter Moris like that

Leave players on hooks for longer. If another gets injured/goes down go for the unhook. And just gen rush. Its really not that hard unless playing against like a really good Spirit or Nurse.

  • Huntress, Pig and Clown (maybe others) considering these three have the exhaustion add-on problem. But I would hope at least Clown and Pig gets more thant just an add-on look over. Huntress is honestly fine beyond her exhaustion and Iri problem.

  • @Dabomb932 said:

tldr: add-ons are wack for killers, too many of them in blood web, decrease amount of em

as a survivor, add-ons are are needed to make items usable, and the add-ons are divided into four categories/ items so you essentially have 25% of add-ons usable at any given time. killers have one power, and without these add-ons they are already 4k-able, it depends on your knowledge and gameplay (obviously) but there are so many add-ons that are just ridicules. im refuring to the availability in the killer bloodweb, and how big an amount you can get just from basic leveling. the last couple of months, no exaggeration, EVERY killer has had full add-ons, and theres no reason not to. i think add-ons need to be nerfed, in amount and/or effect. if by amount i think it should be decreased by about 30-60%, because to be par with survivors, it would be 75% and with effects it would change around the board. i like how certain perks change powers in a certain way, like freddy bringing fake pallets instead of blood traps, but to many of them are, "the survivor dodged my attack, instead of rewarding the survivor, give me more chances" and that can be game-ending

im sure this is controversial, as killers are designed to be overpowered, but it doesnt seem fair to survivors. the powers are already designed to be able to sweep away survivors, and to be able to increase these powers so frequently isnt fair. i have no idea what will fill the bloodwebs instead, but it shouldnt be game changing add-ons

Well first of all killers shouldnt be on par with survivors, its 1v4. They should be more powerful. So if they have fewer add-ons which makes it easier for them to get the ones they need then I'll take that. Beyond that "Items need add-ons to be usable but on the otherhand killers definitely dont need them". Thats actually wrong. Neither needs add-ons. Some killers like Trapper and Wraith definitely "need" add-ons to not feel terrible to play, but a lot of killer dont need them win. I will grant you that. But Survivors dont even need items to win they just give them a boost. And most items are fine at base.

Survivors get more items and are therefor more flexible in what they can do or how well they can do it, where as killers only have 1 power(we cant change killers to use a different power anymore).

It shouldnt be changed until they fix every killer power to be "perfect" without add-ons, and change all add-ons to be a mix of minor stat boosters and some power changers. Like Pallet Freddy over Pool Freddy, Build that wall Hag, Jumpscare Myers, etc. But until then I respectfully disagree.

  • @ Antares2332 said:

He is balanced, the problem is that he is a boring killer to play with/against him.

I would mostly agree except the whole Forever Freddy need to be redone. Just rework the chains and jumping rope to do something else. Giving something to stack ontop of Thana, dying light and then giving him Pop makes the game stand still :(

Thanks for your reply. But i guess you didn't get my point of complaint. I am not pro, and did not want to be pro; I simply don't have the time and effort required to practice more or 'learn' how to be the top player. I want some easy chill games after work or before bed just like a casual player. The old system (before new MMR) seemed more accurate matching with my skill set as I was paired with green or purples which sometimes gives me a thrill but not the stress (if you know what I meant), my killer rank goes up and down between yellow and green - in which I'm not good but enjoy the fun from this game. Even if I did 3k in some games, I ALWAYS gave the hatch for survivors to have extra blood points.  I never mock, never talk sXXt in chats, always be polite and respectful.

But since I forced to compete against red ranks or red SWFs like you said 'appropriately matched'. I was clearly not skilled, and you know why I could get 3k from that screenshot I posted? - I tried very hard in this game but couldn't slow down the gens, or kill survs, so when the exit gate was about to open (3 lights on), these red ranks danced around me, t-bagging, intentionally run into me, and then I got the luck to slug 2 of them. so waht i was called after the game? fag, bad, learn how to play, even racist comment sometimes. If that's you called 'appropriately', then i don't see any point for me to continue playing this game.

Fair enough. But that happens at all ranking honestly. Its just that it happens more often at red ranks because they think they are the best. During this mmr system I have been playing vs a lot of people between rank 20-10 and besides the entirely new players at nearly any ranking there have been people like. Had plenty of green/yellow rankers that thought they could "bully" the killer before realising that the new mmr system put them vs a red ranker that was just being nice because they had low hours in the game.

The slurs at the end of chat is very very rare that it gets that bad. Report them, say GG and just move on. Or mute the chat.

And not to argue in favour of the system or anything here but you have clearly been having a lot of success on hag. But just not playing the game enough to "rise" in rank. If you can compete with red rankers then ofc you should be playing red rankers. Its not fair for the green/yellow rankers to meet you and get stomped. You dont wanna be "pro"? Thats not what the system is about, the system is about fair matches (or at least thats the idea). And while you might get stomped in some games (and unless you then get a lucky "come back" because the survivors acted dumb) it would then give you easier matches the next time.

So yeah there will always be rude people but you were never meant to play against as low ranks as you were playing against. You should at least have been playing against purple ranks is all I can tell from those results. If you want easier chill matches. Then just play how you want and chill. If you "sweat" to win then it will attempt to give you harder matches. Thats at least my understanding.

  • @Onyx_Blue said:

Instead of this baffling and ridiculous MMR system, that's completely out of place in a game like DBD, wouldn't it make more sense, in a game where 'ranks no longer matter', that you base matchmaking on play-time. Being paired with people in certain brackets of hours played. So, for example:

    0 - 50 hours

    51 - 250 hours

    251 - 750 hours

    751 - 1k hours

    1k - 2k hours

    2k - 3k hours

    etc...

And if there are no (or not many) players in your bracket, it searches one bracket high and lower than yours to pair you with a bracket that would be more suitable. I mean, that seems wayyyy simpler than this MMR that will take way too much time to find out if it even works.

It unfortunately wouldnt make more sense. Considering people learn at different speeds and people play in different ways, and beyond that if someone plays the game for 1000 hours as survivor and decides lets try killer for the first time, thats probably not the people he should be matched against. The play time is about as bad as the previous ranking. Now after the mmr system is fixed you can argue whether you want the old system back or keep the new. But the "playstime system" is not a better suggestion than either.

I would say the same. Since they introduced new MMR , every game i play against survivors are between rank 1-5 & also red SWFs, and i was not even that experienced to play against them (I had around 1000 hours playing the game casually). this screen shot is one game i luckily won (because those survivors were mocking me at the gate so i took chance to slug and killed 2 of them), but most of the games i played since MMR are stressful and not fun at all. red rank survivors can easily tell that you are not pro and they just bully you around, t bagging, etc.

it felt like this new MMR forces people (especially killer mains) to play hardcore, but it's not like everyone can go hardcore right? devs, please also think about casual players, we are not willing to go against red rank professional players, we do not want to be good or get good as some people playing this game for a living, we just want to have a fun chase around with similar rank or skill set opponents after work.

All im seeing is a killer dominating on one of the strongest killers in the game and getting apropiately matched. I noticed the spirit games and I would guess (only seen one) that you are having some good luck in a couple of matches and its trying to give you enough oposition that you start losing or gets "draws" to more accurately calculate your mmr. I have been getting decently matched after playing a fair amount of games so thats just my guess.

I could very well be wrong since it has been confirmed that the mmr has some issues. But at least your hag games seems like its matching you correct.

  • This is really poorly done but eh sure I'll play your game.

Question 1: Do you think purple&pink keys and mori offerings (not the yellow one) are fair?

The answers suck but I will say C is closest, they are both horrible broken and should be reworked.

Question 2: Do you think NOED and DS are fine?

Eh again the options arent really what I would choose. The both have things that should be changed or entirely reworked because of ways they can be used unfairly. So C I guess.

Question 3: Do you think tbagging and camping is fine?

Depending on how this question is supposed to be understood. If its "Yeah those are fine to do, have fun you silly fool but dont blame the oposition if they react negatively to it or start being 'toxic' " - C

If its which one is toxic.

Personally I think both are kind of fine, but if I had to chose one that makes the most sense to do it would be camping. At the very least if the gates are already open im gonna camp my last kill. Cant get anyone else unless they intentionally give me one, so from a gameplay perspective camping makes sense there. Tbaggin on the other hand makes no sense, at best its done to provoke the killer to make them chase them at worst its only done to be a dick. Camping can be done to be a massive dickhead and throwing the game or it can be done as a last resort to try and get 1 last kill out of a game before the remaining survivors leave.

I'll take my 1 Killer point here. B

Question 4: What do you think the game is balanced around?

Primarily I would say 4 solo players. Don't have many reasons, just that it wouldn't make sense to balance it around 2, 2 man groups. And its certainly not balanced around 4man swf. B, 1-2 Killer points

Question 5: Do you think Hawkins is killer favored&Haddonfield is survivor favored?

Not sure why you chose those two maps considering they aren't the best killer and survivor map. But I would say Haddonfield is good for the most part for survivors and Hawkins for the most part is good for killer. So C I guess. 1-2 Killer points

Question 6: Do you think that specific killers are to strong or to weak?

That B tho, I mean. It just is. There are like 3 killers that are complained about being too strong (well 1, few complain about nurse because she isn't played). Where as Pig, Clown, Wraith, Trapper, Legion, Demo, Myers could really need some buffs or at least base kit touches. A lot of them require add-ons to not be a pain in the ass to play. I'll take my Killer point. B 2-3 Killer points.

Question 7: Do you think that bugs tend to favor:

Dont know if I would say they hit both equally but I would say they hit both without regard for identity. And without a majority affecting killers or survivors more than the other. C 2-3 Killer points.

Question 8: Which side do you think has the most entitled players?

Easy maths would tell you that this one is B. 4 people = more people that has a chance to be entitled.

    B 3-4 killer points

I play both sides about 30%(Survivor)-70%(Killer) so I guess I would tilt more to Killer. But I dont know I think some of these are just factually correct but I might be wrong there.

  • If not for the constant movie release push back I would have bet money on Candyman, its still the most likely and if not now then probably the next one since that one has been data mined to probably be a licensed character again. I just dont know if the release will coincide with the movie release thats all. Not that Candyman is the one I want, I find him kind of boring since I had never heard of him before the DBD "hype train". He isn't that well known outside the US in general.

  • Unless I have another cosmetic piece then yes I always run bloody cosmetics as both killer and survivor. The whole mindgaming the killer ahead of the game doesnt work that much. Personally as a killer I dont care how you are "dressed" I look for items and these mmr days I look at hours in the game.

Still dont know if I should just tryhard to utterly crush newbies to maybe help them get to proper matches instead of red ranks or let them play a bit and give them second chances to give them some blood points.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

And you can only play a few, if you want to focus on winning. Even with the toolboxes nerfed, the gen speed is just too fast for the majority of killers, that actually have to put work in to it, to end chases quickly. You are much more dependend on mistakes the survivors make.

Why should you bother, to put so and so much hours in to deathslinger to get very good at aiming or the same with huntress, if you can just pick spirit / freddy and have less frustration and more success? Besides the boring part, to play always the same killer.

And the cherry on top is, even if you manage to down someone again, he most likely has DS or Unbreakable. It's not a tunnel perk. You can just follow someone else, lose him by accident, go back to a gen, find the unhooked guy working there (big mistake) and he ain't getting punished for it, because he has DS.

Good survivors just proved, they can win without any perks at all. It's just the average, casual player that needs them. I don't play with them and i am still in red ranks. DS and Unbreakable are worthless in looping. If you make a mistake, you should not be rewarded with this cheap perks. If you play Spirit / Freddy, you don't care much about them, you can end chases quickly and be at gens in no time. It's only huge against those low pressure killers and it sucks the fun out of even playing them (at least for me).

I mean as a killer player that plays almost all killers (Nurse being the exception) its not that hard to learn to play most killers. Most of them have similar stats (115% ms, 32m TR, 2 hits they go down) and their oposition (survivors) play the exact same way except for personal playstyle and perks. So learning their powers actually doesnt take that much out of you compared to how difficult it would be in a lot of games.

I agree some thing should be done about gens, but thats what im hoping the "trial start" that the devs hinted at will do. Because thats the only issue I really have. Its when survivors "magically" spawn all over the map and 3 gens fly around the same time I get my first down.

But honestly it just sounds like you want easier games as killer because you cant be bothered. Tough. Its a 1v4 game. You have fewer people to fall back on and rely on that they do. Your mistakes mean more than their mistakes do thats just part of the nature of the game. If the 4 people could only make as many mistakes as you did, combined. Then this game would be dead.

I recall raiding in MMO's, and there was nothing as frustrating as knowing you did everything perfectly but one Tank or Healer decided that the fire was the place to be, dying and losing us the encounter. Ofc it is annoying that if you make big mistakes it can lose you the game, but if 1 survivor makes a big mistake at most it could lose him his life and the 3 others are still free to not ######### up as big and possibly escape.

But that is the essential nature of 1v4, thats what makes it interesting. At least to me.

As for killers, why should you play Deathslinger over Freddy/spirit? Or any other killer in general. Because they are fun? I like playing Clown, piggy, Deathslinger, Myers and basically everyone once in a while. Variation and playing a lot of different killers and learning to play them better and better makes this game fun for me. But fun is subjective, so if you only want to have "easy wins" and not spend that much time learning the power I guess just play Freddy. If you want "easy wins" but wanna spend some time to learn a power, Spirit, Oni, Hillbilly and Hag would probably be a good bet. And if you want "easy wins" but really have to work to learn the power. Nurse. Anyone else its gonna require you to work a bit more to play. But those are probably the strongest killers.

Thats at least my opinion, people can disagree and thats fine, I just find winning on them a bit easier than others. But I usually find playing something like Pig or Trapper, Huntress or something not those 6 a bit more fun in some cases. Because to me, if I happen to find 4 solo survivors that aren't insane at the game but still know what they are doing then I will still get a good game out of it.

But as I said. Fun is subjective, this is just my way..... and my Ted Talk..

I think it should be disabled if survivor is doing objective, healing, doing gen, rescue etc..

    https://youtu.be/rFXgmmFRnCA

Tell me how was this fair

I mean you did just go for her after she got unhooked, that is tunneling. You had the option of slugging her and going for the David which would have been the absolute best play.

I am assuming you think that because you hooked someone else it should be disabled but I mean you yourself only mentioned when the survivor does something. What you did is tunnel and hope they didnt have Ds so you could kill them.

I agree (and I have seen some community managers agreeing as well) that DS should probably disable when you start participating in the game again. Doing objectives, repairing gens, rescuing, healing (or my own addition, exit gates have been opened and its not permanently disabled) but it should still protect from being focused right after being unhooked, because thats tunelling.

At this point I’m starting to think maybe MMR isn’t getting better for some of us because we went too easy on people. So I’m going to be relentless for about a week and see what happens, I think survuvors are thinking this way too becauce the couple people I’ve denied hatch at the end weren’t even salty

I read a mod mention that there was a bug ( suspect it was in regards to rank 20s) but I started getting better matchmakings after enough games so I dont sweat it too much. I actually got matched with 4 survivors, 2 of which were red and 2 which were yellow that wrecked my #########. They played about equally well I would say which lends some credense to the devs statement that some low rankers play as well as red rankers.

I mean I people rarely got salty about the hatch to me anyway, most never expected it I assume. I had some get salty and called me "tuneller" because I kept finding him and slugging him. The only reason I did this btw, was because I found out they had low rankers among them, so I created rules for myself. Had to down and hang them all individually once at least before going for a second hook. And then give them all a second hook before killing them. And I went out of my way to not hook a person twice in a row. But I just kept finding this one steve over and over xD. He got really mad at the end but I gave them as many chances as I possibly could I would say. Even let them heal.

But thats just a classic entitled survivor at the end there. But yeah I might start "tryharding" on my less played killers to see if I get better mmr faster.

  • Yeah mixed bag here, if I get like 3 downs and 0 gens have been done, I start giving out a lot of second chances and basically "following the survivors rulebook". Just to get them to save or to let them do gens a bit. Not a lot but enough to let them get a few bloodpoints. Unfortunately if there is one survivor in the mix that happens to be experienced and also a stereotypical "toxic survivors". Clicky clicky, tbagging and what not. I stop giving chances.

But honestly the devs should at minimum explain some of the things that determine mmr. Like if I give hatch to someone how much does that impact theirs and my mmr. If it gives them a lot of positive mmr I'll stop doing it because they should "be with their own" (to lend a racists phrase :P) instead of getting demolished by red rankers.

So I have a mixed opinion on whether to crush newbies or to give them a few good moments.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

This is just a reminder that yes, there are indeed survivors who do bones in order to try and counter NoED. These players also generally don't gen-rush.

When these players come here and say that NoED is indeed a terrible perk and needs changing, they're right. They do not need to "git gud", they do not need to hear "Just do bones." and they do NOT need to hear a garbage spiel about how easy the perk is to counter, the killer is "oNlY pLaYiNg WiTh 3 PeRkS!" or the points of DS/BT/DH/UB being perks and can be stacked.

To now make the "Do bones" argument null and void, I will now highlight every way that this argument is totally invalid:

    • Survivor perks, such as Decisive Strike and Unbreakable are used with the hope that they are NEVER ACTIVATED. Well, for a lot of their users anyway. People can claim this as being perks down, much like the arguments for NoED.
    • The so-called Survivor equivelant, Adrenaline, is only a small and temporary boost while NoED is permanent if activated. Yes, the health state is temporary, but there are several killers that have base-kit instant downs so this really shouldn't be THAT big of an issue.
    • NoED does not discriminate between those who have done totems and those who do not. This leads to several cases like mine where I am commonly doing 3-4 dull totems MYSELF and getting killed after only one hit and hook. I am being punished for others failing, not my own failure. I know that Survivor is technically a team game, but there is a point where the individual should not be punished for the failures of the team.
    • It creates bad habits. Rather than actually adapting to applying pressure through various means, or learning how to improve in chases, NoED is used as a safety net in order to get kills that one would not normally be able to achieve, making them think that they are more skilled than they actually are. Rather than getting better at their role, they are telling others to do way more work because they refuse to adapt.
    • Counters to a majority of Survivor perks are merely a change in mindset or playstyle, such as trading hooks to apply pressure and avoid Decisive Strike AND Borrowed Time. NoED requires survivors to go out of their way in order to stop one of your perks.
    • The "counters" are also indirect and limited, also chewing up valuable perk slots for other perks to counter some of the more unsavoury tactics that killers use and are not perk dependent.

Main point here is that yes, I do the dull totems. They are more bloodpoints and cancel the perk. I AM NORMALLY THE ONE TO GET HIT BY IT. Most of these games, it is also the first hook that I will be placed on and will also ultimately kill me.

There are also many issues that I have with NoED on a fundamental level as a perk, especially with it's activation for both general activation and notification of it's activity. Every other Hex perk requires ONE totem to be destroyed, where as NoED can have up to 5 required, before endgame.

All exposure effects outside of NoED and Devour Hope also give instant notification. Devour Hope also has a lengthy list of requirements to activate outside of "be loosing" in order to achieve the same effect. Devour Hope is also a TEACHABLE perk, one that should be more powerful than base-perks as you have to do a lot more work for them to become available.

So, fellow killers, while you lot think up of an actual excuse for NoED being the way it is, I'll be off actually doing the damn bones whenever I decide to indulge in a little bit of Survivor while I try to progress my Archives. In the meantime, whenever any of you argue about Decisive Strike, Borrowed Time, Unbreakable just remember this advice, since it's ok for YOU to give it: Just don't tunnel, camp or slug. Never mind that the survivor ran at you or started working on that generator or unhooking that other survivor in your face. Kinda hypocritical, isn't it? That's how I feel every time I hear the phrase "just do bones".

I did them, so now what?

Just to counter a few argument with some slightly jokey but still not wrong statements

    • "...DS and Unbrekable are used with the hope they never activate" thats funny because most killers prefer when they dont have to use NOED as well. They prefer that gens dont get done and that they win before that.
    • Survivor perks, items, offerings in general need to be weaker than the killers otherwise the game would be insanely unbalanced. Survivors being able to bring 16 perks in total and the killer only being able to bring 4.
    • Its a team game, to a point. You first and foremost have to look out for yourself. Sometimes you have to consider is me bodyblocking the killer to down my team mate, and probably going on the hook instead, better than them doing it. Like if they already have 2 hooks and you have only 1 or none at all, you should probably help. But if you are both dead on hook you should probably just let them die. This game is basically balanced around you being punished for your team mates mistakes. 3-genning because the team decided to do 4 gens next to each other and ignore the other half of the map. Being teamed with bad survivors that go down instantly and dying before 2 gens get done. People doing Haunted Grounds. Myers 99'ing off your team mates, finding you and 1-shotting you. On and on.
    • Agreed. Except the skillful part. Im sure some think like that but those people are dumbasses. Most people accept its a safety net, they even call it a second chance perk. But hey if the killers wont adapt the survivors should, forcing the killers to adapt because they start losing big time.
    • I dont think I get this part. A lot of the time where DS and BT is annoying is when you trade hooks. The one being unhooked comes back and tries to unhook the person who just traded hooks, and is "immortal" while doing so. And a lot of the time the survivors "abuse" the perks by being in the killers face with BT,DS and an unbreakable. Forcing the killer to GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to either hit them and get nothing do to BT, grab them and get DS'd, or down them after they unhooked the first guy, and now the cycle restarts. Except 2 people now have DS up and available and maybe unbreakable as well.
    • Yeah well, that usually not a big deal. Unless you happen to play with a lot of survivors that like to play with mediocre builds (thats me btw, I love me some detectives hunch) then most survivors bring BT, DS and unbrekable at least in some capacity and if the killer respects one then he respects all. If he eats one DS he usually learns his lesson.

With all that said I would still like to see a nerf to NOED/DS just probably not as big as one you would like.

    LMFAO!

You realize that looks are completly subjective?

But a good topic actually, because despite what society is trying to tell you; the look of a person DOES matter when you're looking for that partner. It may not matter for everyone as much but it DOES matter, always, in 100% of cases. Just sometimes more or less. But it DOES matter.

Can you make me an example as to why you think Rank does not matter? Like what context are we talking about here? When your little brother with 2 hours of playtime is playing with your account of 2000 hours, then that rank means nothing? Is that where you're coming from?

Well if you insist on not just conceeding that 2 things can be right and want specific examples of why its easier for a survivor to get into red ranks than killer. And one reasons why rank doesnt matter. Then SWF and "safety pip".

Safety pip, makes it so that even if you "lose" you probably wont lose rank anyway. Which gives you 4 possible outcomes, 2 of which are most likely to happen, and 2 which happens occassionally(I know double pipping is rarer than depipping but its not that much more rare). 1 pip and safety pipping, happens all the time. Depipping only happens when you are unlucky or severely outmatched. And double pipping only happens if you get long games with a lot of activity on most fronts. Double pipping usually wont happen with bad players, so lets scratch that.

That leaves you with 3 outcomes and I would wager that unless your team gets absolutely ######### on, you get discovered over and over or tunneling/camping is going on you wont depip in any games. Those are scenarios I would call being unlucky.

But safety pipping and 1 pip happens in the wast majority of games even if you die or even if 3 survivors escape. So if you most of the time either pip, dont go up or down, and only occassionaly go down 1 pip then you can only go up in rank. It makes it a matter of playing the game a lot rather than having to learn to play the game.

SWF makes it so that bad survivors, that play with better survivors get into red ranks by doing nothing more than holding m1, hiding and saving team mates when its safe and their better swf friends tell them to do so. That or a 3 man SWF can carry the last rando, but thats just luck.

I know the first few times I got into red ranks as survivor was with about 50-60 hours on survivor in the game, and thats just by being carried and without a single clue how to loop. All I knew was hiding and holding m1, and dying within 30 seconds of being found. Back then the rank would reset you a lot further back than it does now and I still got down there without learning anything new. Now that it only reset 3-4 ranks at max its even easier.

TL;DR Safety pip, SWF (for survivor) and weak rank reset are plenty of reasons why getting into red ranks is easy and got very little to do with skill and a lot more to do with how much you play the game.

Over 1000 hours! Damn, guess that makes your opinion more valid. I suppose I'll take my 3500+ hours and go ######### myself, lol

Ahh yes that part was my point that more hours = me right?

No I was saying that not having rank 3 perks doesnt mean that they havent played the games for hundres of hours. Chill man xD

Again - you have proven nothing except that you think "I'm getting purple and red ranks in some of my games, MMR is perfect!".

Ranks mean nothing. Not even in terms of experience. You can literally get to red ranks in a matter of a couple days playtime, and it's not hard. Especially as survivor.

Your screenshots illustrate that. Many of them don't have full, tier 3 perks, and the tier 3 perks they do have seem to include things like self-care and spine chill a lot. Typical meta perks for survivors with a lack of experience. All you're doing is saying "Look! Red ranks! MMR is perfect and I'm still 4king!". No - you're still facing potatoes.

You lost this debate the second you used ranks as a measuring stick. Best stop trying.

I have played this game for over a thousand hours on mixed survivor/killer, and prestiged a lot, not having rank 3 perks means ######### all lol xD

Imagine using ranks as a measuring stick when even the devs have stated ranks are meaningless.

The only thing you've proven is that you quite simply don't get it.

I mean people were using rank to argue that they were getting bad matchmakings so I dont see how using their own argument against them is wrong?

I encountered this a couple of times now:

When I bring an ebony mori and an obsession perk (usually DMS or Devotion) the obsessions aura pops up whenever i'm within range.

I first thought 'okay, maybe they are running OoO or something', but today I actually checked and they didn't run any perks at all.

This only happens when i bring a mori. I mean, i'm not complaining, not necessarily, but it's weird...

"...and they didn't run any perks at all" Thats actually a known bug at the moment. Sometimes you cant see their perks. Not saying you are disproven just that its not evidence. But I would like to know if it happens again.....for personal reasons :P. Nah I almost never run mori but I would like to know anyway.

You can see a lot of churn. COVID has definitely given this a huge player windfall. Numbers are dropping, how far will they go? Devs seem focused on monetization (MOAR SKINZ) at the expense of stability/smooth gameplay/good player experience, with an ALL THE THINGS platform focus.

The mechanics, from BP perk grind to cash shop are F2P levels of bullshit. I personally bought and refunded the game in 2019 when I found P2P MM and only just came back to give it another chance during the anniversary event. There are some good ideas, some fun to be had, and a whole heap of ######### to hate too. Solo queue, currently R4 killer R8 survivor.

Oh I agree but the timing of the downfall of players isnt blatantly obvious. Part of it is clearly because of the devs not smoothing gameplay or fixing issues, or doing something weird with the auras. And ofc the mmr is just the latest out of a bunch of weird things where you just wonder what the devs are doing. Or at least those in charge of the game who is telling the devs what to do and what not to.

But it also coincides with summer vaication being over and a lot of kids going back to school. Lets not pretend thats not a factor.

But goddamn the one thing I wish they did for future players is just making the grind more manageable. For those of us who have played for hundres if not over a thousand hours (guilty) the grind isnt really a problem. But for those just starting, either give them like a months boost to their blood points, a couple million bloodpoints to start with or a new mechanic for easing the grind. I saw someone suggesting that when you prestige a killer/survivor their teachables should be automatically given to every killer/survivor at rank 1. Prestige 2, rank 2 and then prestige 3 rank 3. The way I see it, it would give the new players a choice where they can level up a survivor/killer play them a lot and then if they want to play other survivor/killer they can prestige them when they have enough bloodpoints and just get several ranks of perks that you would never have to level up on other characters. It would lessen the amount of bloodpoints needed by quite a lot if you are going for everyone.

Thats ofc not a perfect solution, but its one and its better than nothing. and it would give new players a decent reason to prestige.

I would like to add tho, that the department that makes skins is the art department. They have absolutely nothing to do with bug fixes and gameplay, beyond possibly helping with the design of a new killer. But an argument could be made that BHVR are spending too many ressources on their art department compared to making their game better.

Apparently slugging/infectious fright complaints are new to you?. But yeah I would say most of these type of complaints (the gen rushing kind) are almost silly since its very rare for gens popping this fast. But 3 gens popping before you get your first down because survivors just casually spawn all of the map is very very common.

And one of the reasons that you dont see that many complaints about survivors instantly losing is usuallly because the type of killers capable of winning that fast dont get played a lot. Hillbilly, Nurse, Oni, iri huntress and sometimes very very lucky plague or myers. The type of killers capable of it has to be able to insta down or instantly follow up on the first hit.

    Thats a least my guess.

Depends on what their licensing contracts are, i.e. could another studio even get anything in their game. This game exists because of the licenses. Without the iconic characters I doubt this would have 10% of the people playing that it does.

I mean I dont disagree that the game has gotten a lot of players through licenses but you dont get a stable player base with licenses only. You need fun/addictive gameplay with good/decent replayability. Otherwise those players will just leave after they dont find it fun anymore.

    Two games so far:

game 1: rank 1 solo queue squad vs. “rank 1” killer = he got one hook all game. My Result: de-pipped

game 2: solo queue again - rank 1 (me), rank 5, rank 18 with one perk, rank 20 with 4 bad perks vs. Rank 20 Oni with one perk (Zanshin Tactics), one hook all game. I do 2.5 gens, safe hook save, escape 2 chases, escape through hatch. My Result: de-pip 😂

Makes me a little scared for what the heck the MMR is measuring

Thats fairly impossible as far as I remember. Doing that many gens, doing some altruistic actions, escaping chases and suviving the trial. Thats basically impossible to de-pip. No clue how you managed that.

  • Its basically how you have to play, focusing 2 survivors down. If the survivors dont try to help each other by forcing you to hit them through body blocks and the like then they are essentially giving you an advantage.

  • Oh I thought it was people abusing VPNs to get such a bad connection the killer couldnt hook them, pick them up or the like. Have experienced it myself only once but just basically dedicated 4 clips to that experience and calling them "######### my life".

  • @johnmwarner said:

So not to pile on, but more to ask a question. I think the majority of people are in agreement that MMR is really messed up, even a mod seems to be saying that the devs are finally looking j to it. Despite that we still have a few in every thread saying, “it won’t be perfect it’s new just wait and see.” To see how stupid that is apply it to a few other games...

Imagine you walk into a basketball court for the first time, you’re 6 years old and you have a team of five friends. You go against the local college team and they proceed to beat you 100-0 does that make you wanna try again, wait and see, or does it make you decide to try something else.

I mean that really depends on your mentality to things. I have tried a lot, and I do mean a lot of games where I got destroyed without mercy the first bit of time before I started getting some succes, and getting to that point felt great. . Merely saying that as that 6 year old you have 3 choices. You can say "Well this isn't fun" and leave (which is fair enough btw), you can say "I'm gonna wait til I get older" (waiting for something, friends/fixes/etc) or "Wow I wanna be able to do those things" and try and learn.

But with that said, I dont think its a good idea to just throw newbies against people with hundres of hours, at worst they should be playing against people with like 40 or 50 hours and ideally 10 hours or less.

All im saying is that your scenario is misleading. If it was something like, they proceed to beat you mercilessly 100-0 several games in a row(which is what has been happening). Yeah no in that scenario I think it would be wrong to expect anyone to not complain. I think waiting is still a viable alternative but wrong to expect it out of people.

So because we have absolutely no clue as to what lowers MMR derankers will be even less involved in the match than before because sitting in a corner doing nothing/ dying on first hook is their only sure bet?

And those people are called afkers, report them with evidence of them doing nothing and move on. Beside derankers were already playing like that. No matchmaking system would fix that.

  • I would have said easy achievements and chill farming. But ay you do you I guess. Personally I just try to play chill with obvious newbie survivors and try and give them second chances over and over again until 3-4 gens gets done.

We got a user here on the forums who have played a shitload of Wraith since the implementation of the new MMR system and he's still being matched against newbies. We're seeing streamers, who play the game for a living (Fog Whisperers and otherwise), being matched against newbies despite playing the game all day long.

The new MMR system does not work as intended!

For some it doesnt as I said, and I know that. But a lot of people didnt realise that its killer specific. I simply mentioned that to at least lessen some confusion. Btw a mod mentioned that they have noticed errors and have implemented some fixes and adjustments on their end, so it might work for more people today. She did say that they are still keeping an eye on it.

But I recall Scott Jund saying that he was getting pretty good matches on killers he played a lot, and I recall Otz getting good matches on some of the killers he played a lot (not his trapper tho for some reason lol). So it wasnt totally broken, but it was certainly busted enough to create a ton of unfair games.

The first many of my early games was horribly unfair too, but they started getting better. As I said I dont expect it to help everyone. Was merely a hope it would help some.

yes, the new player worry is REAL.

Maybe you've just been lucky with the MMR or maybe they've already done some back end stuff to fix it. I've seen improvement since I first noticed the trend I point out in the post, but I don't know if that's because of something inherent to my opponents or because devs corrected the MMR.

A mod mentioned that they had been in a meeting yesterday and she was basically informing us while the meeting was going on that they had registered errors or something like that. And following that made adjustments, so hopefully its only upwards from here. They did say that they were still looking to fix tune some things but hopefully the worst is over.

What ever happened to all that "we're gathering data for your MMRs" that we heard months ago? Was that not specifically to avoid the issues we're seeing now?

If you read what she wrote you would know that, they still said they expected that this ENTIRELY NEW system would be wonky and have issues. Maybe they didnt expect them to be this big, but even in the FAQ they mentioned that they expected something similar to the given situation, but likely to a lesser extent. Besides that the system wasnt in control of matchmaking which means that it was simulating results. Simulations and reality are usually different. When the system suddenly was in control it clearly didnt take it well and made mistakes. Take your anger somewhere else please, or do something to relax. Maybe play a game :)

  • Yeah I have been giving out second chances like they were cake at my birthday. Making rules for myself like "Not being allowed to hook someone for a second or third stage before everyone is on a second or third stage" Just to maximize the chances people have and to not ruin their experience. Luckily I have started to get enough games in on most of my killers that I almost only get fair matches now. But as someone that plays most/all killers, playing the same killer over and over again just to get the proper mmr for them was kind of a rough experience. I do not enjoy playing the same killer multiple games in a row (for the most part). But besides a few killers that I rarely play (like nurse, doctor and Billy) I have been getting fairly balanced and sometimes even hard matches.

So as long as the rank 20 thing was a weird glitch then I am willing to defend the system based on my own experience. With that said, by god did that experience hurt the game a lot in terms of new player experience. I know some killers and survivorrs gave killers many chances to get something out of their games. But I also know a lot just wrecked their oposition and said ######### em.

  • I mean it might for some, my matches got harder the more I won, and when I lost or got a draw or just had a very hard match they got easier to an extent. I know some are having terrible match making but its really not all. My biggest worry is that they just let the new people without ranking start without any mmr(which they said btw). And the system just placed them wherever the biggest queue time was (because it considered them filler players)....which was red ranks.

But I hope that rankings get sorted out with enough play time. This definitely hurt the game, considering it has taken its first big dip in months recently.

Rank either matters or it doesn't matter. If it SOMETIMES matter then that still means Rank matters. If you never get drunk but SOMETIMES you get drunk, that still means you get drunk... SOMETIMES. But whatever, I believe that you are too confused to be worthy to discuss this matter because as I said, you constantly contradict yourself.

Feel free to masturbate yourself to sleep good sir on top of that masterful demonstration of logic. Your logic is silly and flawed.

    "Is that girl beautiful?"

"Well her boyfriends thinks so, but I dont".

2 things can be true at once. Rank matters to a point but it doesnt matter a lot more. Its very general statement where context matters, and if you cant get your head around that then I dont know what to tell you. Good day sir

  • @PiiFree said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1517786#Comment_1517786

You realize that your whole post is a shitload of contradictions?

Nuance is a foreign concept I see.

As I said, most of the time rank doesnt matter. At all. Even if you suck at the game a lot, all you need is a bit of luck and you too can be a red rank. Not skill. Just luck.

Yes the better players will be red ranks....if they play the game. If they dont then some yellow ranked people can easily be better than a lot of red ranks. Because as I have been hammering home here, a lot of red ranks are not any better than many purple and many green ranks.

All I said that I guess could be interperet as "contradictions" would be the survivor/killer thing. But I will still stand by that. You have to be slightly lucky as a survivor to get into red ranks, or a good survivor. You have to be very lucky as a killer, or a good killer. Yes both can be true at the same time. The difference here and why I still stand by my previous statement is. You have 3 chances to get a good team mate, and 3 others to fall back on if you are kind of bad. As a killer, sure you have 4 chances to get a potato survivor, but you still have to get kind of lucky to find the right survivor and if you make a mistake then you have no one to fall back on. And even if you find that survivor there is no guarantee that its gonna hurt the team. If you kill 1 survivor but there is only 2-3 gens left. Sure its not a perfect situation for the survivors but its definitely not a great situation for you either and now you dont have a potato survivor to generate map pressure.

1 < 3 is pretty easy math in my opinion.

I hope this makes it clear to you why I doubt there is any contradictions. Two things can be true at the same time.

  • @Marigoria said:

I'm rank 3 right now, and devotion 14. I also play solo.

I'm still getting rank 20 team mates with 1 perk who can't hit skill checks, after 50+ games.

After how many matches are we supposed to have a working MMR?

Dont know if anyone has said this, but unfortunately its not just your mmr at play here. You also have the killers and the other survivors. Some assumptions here, but maybe the game takes the killers mmr, and tries to build a team that would be fair to play against. That would be my guess. So unfortunately its not entirely up to you, its up to everyone to play enough to get proper "mmr". I believe it takes at least a week if not more before we get more "balanced" matches. They claim the program have been running but considering it hasnt been trying to matchmake teams I believe thats where some of the weirder matches comes from.

Again this is just speculation on my part. I cant recall having played a game that tried to implement mmr into its 4 year old game so for all I know this might be perfectly normale for the first while. And I would guess you not knowing the rankings of your team mates and the killer, would remove a lot of frustration from a lot of people. As some have said it seems to have been an ok match. I got a lot of similar results before the MMR so all I can say is, its not worse. Its just different xD.

  • I too would like some balance between SWF and Solo, but at the same time I want some balance between strongest and weakest killer. It usually takes a 4man swf to beat the best killers if played really well. So obviously unless Nurse or spirit gets nerfed then SWF cant be nerfed either. My only suggestion is buffing solos in a way that doesnt benefit SWF in any massive way. Some have suggested giving kindred as a base perk, which SWF (at least those worth being worried about) wouldnt benefit from in any big way.

And while doing that buff the weaker killers like, trapper, wraith, clown and pig. My opinion but I do think mosts people would agree that they need looking at in some way. Wraith without or add-ons literal trash. Windstorm, bone clapper and some others make him ok, but not good, he would need silent bell add-on to make him good, vs most survivor teams in red ranks. Trapper without bags, no thx. Having some killers have basically mandatory perks/add-ons or good rng to win doesnt seem good.

My point is this. Dont nerf SWF without also touching the top killers, but they also shouldnt buff solos without touching the weakest killers. The weakest killers have a chance against SWF but its not a pretty thing and if they are sweaty 4k+ hour survivors, then you have almost 0 chance without some good luck and the best perks/add-ons.

  • @malloymk said:

Yep. I stopped playing with my swf group because they couldn't understand that everyone has to take agro and even a hook state or two from time to time. Nothing is more annoying than hearing your teammate complain that they died on their first hook.

Now I just play solo. At least if I have bad teammates I can chalk it up to that and just move on to the next game faster.

Dont blame you man. A few of my friends act like that and I basically only play with them if its a 4man. Because then I know which build setup I should run. Ill play a slightly more immersive build to make sure I dont get caught first or very often even. Just dont wanna run that kind of build with most other people I play with or the few times I play alone.

  • @Clevite said:

Yeah , I can agree with this. Sometimes taking a hit when someone is being tunneled to break bloodlust alone can be a big help.

Or getting hooked if the survivor being chased is on death hook.

But this is the main reason so many people choose to SWF. Because it is rare for a rando to take a hit for you. I have watched many just sprint burst away when we are on a genny and I am injured instead of taking the hit and avoiding the injured person getting downed.

I did have a bit of a laugh, when I was trying to do a gen while the oni was nearby(could hear his tr, but the gen was like 80%) I was gen tapping it to stop making any noise. Then an injured dwight came running and started fully reparing the gen, making enough noise for the oni to instantly notice (had been repairing the gen for like 10% without notice). I had to facepalm at the moment xD.

But yeah I dont take the cheap insults to heart. As I said I mainly play killer, only play survivor with friends or if I have a daily. So if people wanna ignore it thats fine by me, making my killer games slightly easier xD. Just trying to make my survivor games a bit more fun is mainly what I was attempting here and to get people to not flame their team mates for dying early.

but that would outright kill the fun of someone who mains killer because they arent like surv where u can loan one up with all the same perks and theyre basically a copy. All the killers are inherently different, and making it so one cant switch kinda kills wouldnt u say? I just hate the way devs leave players to "try to be optimistic" about something thats clearly bunk.

If I understand your point correct (sorry I am having trouble here), you are saying, that not playing different killers is not fun correct?

I would agree with that, since I play almost all of them. But at the very least the devs have said you need to play 10 games to get more accurate matchmakings. Which is why I suggested play the same for a bit. You can switch if you want but you risk playing difficult opponents for a long time on all killers instead of just getting better matches on one and then slowly getting better matches with the others. Besides that playing different killers at the start can make learning to play killer very difficult. Considering some have ranged attacks and some have traps and others teleport. Another reason to play the same killer for a bit to learn to play the role overall before branching out and playing different killers.

As an example lets say you wanted to learn to play Huntress. You are slower than other killers, you have a big radius where everyone knows where you are because of the lullaby. But you also have a ranged attack. No other killer can tick off all those boxes. So if you manage to get good with huntress or at least play vs survivors that match how good you are with her, then you can slowly improve on her in fair matches.

However if you wanted to try and play Ghost face while also playing huntress on and off, you would suddenly have someone that moved faster than huntress so you can do loops in a different way, you can stalk survivors to get insta downs or you can go stealth and they will never hear you before you are behind them.

My point about only playing one killer is only partly about the mmr system but also about just learning the base mechanics of killer before playing a lot of them.

Anyway I hope you get better matches no matter what man. Good luck.

  • Lol as if there is even a chance in hell.

Its not humanoid shaped so it has 0 chance. Medusa/The gorgon with the snake tail has a bigger chance of getting implemented.

I believe they a long time ago that they only wanna do humanoids. And sure you would think that includes Chucky but I would assume they meant sizes as well. And yes Demogorgon is a humanoid. A humanoid being something that resembles humans. And Human centipede does not do that.

Beyond that Human centipede isnt a monster or a bad guy its the victims lol.

    Should've played better

True that. Basically what the Nea said. "You got caught I didnt". Yeah well we both died at 5 gens done, so we both got caught one of us just distracted the killer while the other sat on gens the entire game. With that gen speed someone could easily have taken a free down to give the others some breathing room instead of just ignoring your team.

  • @Raptoraizr said:

Because I find one survivor, try to catch them but while I do that, 2-3 generators are done. I leave the survivor who runs infinite time from me and try to catch other survivors.

Also, getting 8k points as Doctor is easy when you spam your ability so I don't think those 8k points should even count into the statistics.

And by the time I finally catch and down ONE survivor, all 5 generators are done and there's like nothing you can do about it. You hook him, they unhook and then tbag you at the exit gates while they let themselves to be hit like 2 times and on the second hit it counts as they escaped.

You can count those 8k points, one downed survivor and other hit survivors and minus them theoretically and imagine, how many points you get by true playing/catching/other things.

I dont know if you only play doctor and only have played him right now. But its supposed to be specific killer mmr. So I would stick to playing doctor for like 10-20 games or something like that and see if that helps. Maybe try to not get that many bloodpoints to see if it changes anything. Besides spamming doctors ability hurts him a lot, you wanna restrict it to stop them from vaulting/throwing pallets.

Im only trying to see if it helps and give you some sort of possible help. Getting that many blood points is nearly impossible without they basically all being on death hook thats just where I am not understanding the situation I think. If you are having trouble winning you might wanna play a bit dirty, hooking one slugging another. Slugging someone just off hook and chasing someone else to force 3 survivors to not be on gens.

At this point im basically not talking about the system just trying to give you tips to have a better time. Because I havent see your games beyond the pictures I am just still suprised at the points. And no even on doctor thats a massive amount of points for a lost game. Mostly reacting to the 27k.

But I dunno playing doctor until you get better matches, waiting til BHVR responds and tells us whats happening/fixes it or just learning from the games (what you can) and then try to enjoy that. But beyond that I have no clue what to say beyond, yup that sucks. But a lot of people have been complaining about similar games before, so I guess it got better for some and worse for others.
