Gens should not take longer by a flat amount.
I think they would need to be more interactive/difficult. But thats difgicult to achieve without shitting on noobs.
-
If being the obsession was a demerit to survivors and debuffed them without killer perks used, then it might be viable as basekit mechanic.
Worse skillchecks, fastet bloodlust acccumulation, theres enoughh tiny debuffs to make survivors NOT WANT TO BE the obsession. Obsession mori basekit lol.
For something that is supposedly the "drawback" of DS or dying light, it currently really doesnt look that way.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/237822/there-is-no-solution-to-facecamping
The amount of stuff that they did try to solve this was a lot. Problem was, Survivors ALWAYS abused it. We had the timer stop when the killer was nearby but a survivor would loop around it on purpose to keep the killer nearby. They gave swivel hooks, invincibility frames and prevented traps from being too close to the hook. They even increased the hook timer from 80 seconds for both hook states to 120 seconds for both hook states (60 seconds per hook state from 40 seconds) and that didn't do much. If someone wants to face camp you, they will face camp you. You can ALWAYS get someone but if they really want that person dead, they will get that person. DS, BT, bloodpoint loss, hook timer increase and swivel hooks never stopped it and nothing ever will. Risk the unhook with BT and hope they last.
Both sides want to win and denying someone the best course of action in a game where its 4 vs 1 really would be the downfall of this game. I hate to say it like that but the moment you take away the ability to secure a kill to a killer is the day that killers' won't bother playing. At that point, you're just a killer simulator with a rule set of how to lose to the greater majority of players.
Whenever the removal of the current "facecamping" is discussed, i remember the old real facecamping and how it went down with Deathgarden.
Deathgarden removed the "hook", was one of the nails in its coffin.
-
Im a bit out of the loob, but arent there cases where screaming survivors ( just got zapped) can still vault etc?
-
Sure, once theres an actual demerit to being the obsession. There are small enough debuffs possible regarding skillchecks, bloodlust accumulation or even rancormori basekit lol. Create new bloodpoint score events for interacting with the obsession.
Make it a relevant gameplay mechanic, not just some smokescreen to hide DS users.
"You now have claws around your icon and most killer obession perks need you alive" isnt really the drawback perk descriptions make it out to be, especially on DS.

Idk it dosent sound too impossible considering a moble game like dbd done it
IdV's duo hunters mode is quite an experience. The ruleset is interesting, although i dont remember how strong the decoding penalty is. That upgrade shop wouldnt make it into dbd tho, thats for sure.
It's funny, the dbd community gets so hung about 2 killers tunnelcamping the same survivor they forget the remaining 7 pushing those gens.
-- back to Op's question, I'd say doctor is a good "support.
Else chainsaw bros' before metahoes 😂

I disagree, a LOT fits into DBD. If we can have Bunny Legion's, Pink Elephant Clown, Santa Clown, Elf Dwight's, shirtless David's, pantsless Yui's, bunny Feng's, Shirtless Wraith, Beach Bum Billy, the 80's/90's sets for the survivors, the Christmas onesie's, The Trickster and multiple different outfit combos to make your character look over the top then, I wholeheartedly think Springtrap fits just perfectly fine.
You can say that about literally any killer coming into DBD. For example, I've seen people say that there could be a lot you could do with the Xenomorph if she was added but then others will just say "oh, that'll be nothing more then a glorified skin for Demo basically changing the Demo's power a bit and calling it a day." I disagree with that, there could be SO MANY options for licensed characters powers that it's crazy. Just look at what some of the community comes up with. Another example is well, Mr. X himself, they could make a power based around his destructive capabilities but then others could come in and just say "oh, that's basically just a glorified Oni that can't run." Once again though, I think that's not true and you could do something with a transformation of some kind.
Ultimately though, this is just very opinionated. Some will simply just not want certain characters added for whatever reason and, that's ok, it's their opinions and we can agree or disagree all that we want. As long as your being respectful towards that person's opinion and not being a asshat then that's all that matters. For me though, I'd be happy with a LOT of licensed content they could introduce. The one and ONLY one I'd be super upset over is Jeepers Creepers for, well, obvious reasons.
@cocorI think demodoggi's rig would probably mostly work with a xenomorph, i think theres such a "fan chapter" vid on yt, displaying an ability similiar to feral frenzy. I'd say xenomorph would also work perfectly with demos kit, just replace the portal textures to those of a xeno hive.
---
Isnt it kinda biased to dismiss Springtraps ability potential as a mix of old abilities and then imagine X with his bullrush from re:r, aka a feral frenzy/ demon charge mix? And if you intended for instants it'd be just a chainsaw sprint.
Except the stage 2 tyrant transformation, dear X doesnt display any ability not already present in the game.
- Trappers powerwalk animation lol
- Old legions modified kit if he's a 110% killer
- Oni's modified kit if 115%
- His head crush is tombstone myers
- His radar skill is a mix of shock blast and feral frenzy's killer instinct. (" press strg to reveal all sirvivors and gain movement speed" )
- His bullrush is a speed limiter chainsaw sprint or demon charge, depending if it collides with walls or not.
- M1 dont cleave so he doesnt get his hook swings, but bubba said hi.

Holy crap, thank you for this.
It's like people forget that BHVR would need to create a new model and assume they'd use the dated differently stylised fnaf3 model.
-
If we're going by the " fit in DBD" specification, then it's springtrap. Not by much, mind you.
Buff dude in a trenchcoat is rather... universally applicable for lots of genres. He kinda looks like a super mutant courser ( Fallout 4) or Seth who decides to dress up for once ( Street fighter). I'm not saying that Mr X wouldnt fit in Dbd, for that his design is a rather good mix between buff trapper and dapperly dressed doctor.
It always feels like lots of people forget that Springtrap would get a less cartoonish stylised design for dbd. ( Toon Link in Smash Bros' doesnt use his native cell shading style if i remember correctly)
Now off topic, Springtrap's background would likely be more flexible for a more unique killer ability.
-
Maybe if the devs didnt botch the sounds for killers every second update they touch sound, or made all killers below the top 5 viable, then maybe you wouldnt only see a small selection of killers by players who want to win?
-
While I'm of the opinion that you shouldnt dc and dc'd rightly is a bannable offense.....
....Survivors have shown us it's "okay" to dc to give up, when you dislike a killer, map or strategy used.
Damn, sounds weird to hold killers to that kinda standard, even jokingly.

Maybe they can introduce a chat wheel system? Like if you've ever played Overwatch or CSGO you can activate messages that will either appear from your character or in a chat, so maybe beside the survivor's icon they could allow simple messages that won't be too powerful, stuff like "The killer is near my hook" "I am working on a generator", but the things they can't say is saying stuff like where the killer is or if they're in a chase or not or just where the survivor is in general, just very baseline messages that only let you know what a survivor is doing if they're not being chased
The quick message stuff can do its magic with rather few messages. Identity V has it too and it works quite well.
A single "focus generators" can also mean " i'm camped" when said by a hooked survivor. Heh, i bet that would be the most used message anyways.
Edit:
We cant get rid of CWF, that train departed ages ago. But a quick message system would lessen the swf gap without buffing the swf.
Although, the killer compensation still gotta happen then.
-
You're talking like camping and tunneling is evil.
Well, yes 7 definitions among the 12 definitions of those terms could be seen like that, but survivors do have troubles identifying which made up version is happening at any given time.
If you're angry at the last paragraph, you're part of the problem. Both strategies arent evil, theyre just.... inconvenient for the schmuck on the hook or soon to be hooked.
-
Unfix your eyes from the gen and skim your unfixed camera around.
-
Sooo. How is there pressure to leave a gen to rescue a teammate, or ATTEMPT flaslight saves or any other strategy/reaction, if that teammate isnt in any danger.
Everyone talking about killer behavior bit ignore that this concept would kill any survivor strategy except genrush.
I also consider deathgardens changes to the kill system a main reason for its demise.
-
Hahaha. No Survivor player is gonna want a Killer whose ability warrants <100%MS.
Its either gonna be an hax ability or some sort of incredibly powerful movement ability, like ignoring map structures and collision.
And lol nurse isnt busted, especially current nurse.
-
- Generator progress now only starts after a survvivor finished the " kneel down to work on the generator"-animation.
This would stop survivors from just canceling regression in a single frame.
To buff general kicking/ regression, how about:
- Kicking a generator reduces its repair progress by Y ( Y < 3 ) charges and applies X ( X < 3) charges of "damaged" to the generator. Regression will add 0.25 charges per second of "damaged" , up to a total of 5 charges.
- ""damaged" only gains additional charges while the generator is not being repaired.
- For every charge of repair porgress, a charge of "damaged" is depleted
- Regression stops after all charges of "damaged" have been repaired. Regression stays active during that time. ( ~ 25 % repair speed penalty)
For clarity, kicking a generator would apply a debuff that stops the rempval of regression until you work on it for a time.
Might be a little complex.

Sooo, what does have a japanese yakuza have to do with a kpop psycho? Damn is kpop spycho a clown ripoff too? Both wear jackets and striped pants. And belts.... daaaaamn kpop psycho is a LULU ripoff.
Please go and call a kumiho a kitsune, will ya? Lol. ( scp reference pls ignore)
Edit: ignore this if OP made a joke that woooshed over my head.

Maybe add the new guy's Laceration mechanic to Frenzy, additionally to all those qol fixes.
If you dont want to spread out to hunt other survivors, needing to hit 3-4 timesto down in frenzy seems feasible.
Though i think healthy-> injured should still happen on the first hit.

@ShadowRain said:
Correct, but every killer needs to be viable
But strong is viable.
-----
Dbd killers suffer from there being ~ 5 tiers of killer strenght, and many people being more interested in nerfing the top than buffing the bottom.
----
I laugh at the argument of getting bored facing the same (strong) killers all the time. If the others werent as bad, they'd be played more often lol.
Close the killer tier gap by buffing the bottom.
-
I also read in another that it drains ammo.
"Hey you get infinite knives but you throw your stock first."
-
I think the really big thing is the Laceration meter as mechanic. It's kinda the thing everyone wanted for Legion. But now they probably wont be getting it as they'd become too similiar to the new guy.
But the mechanic in itself is really interesting and can be used for lotsa stuff. ( I mean, even i have an old killer concept that uses it lol )
-
Why are you mad at a perk that encourages a reduction of camping and "tunneling", that needs to be equipped by the KILLER.
-
Till Lindemann
-
I remember a dbd-competitioner having such a mechanic. Wasnt popular.
Deadhard for everyone is really brokenly strong, what would killers get as compensation for the aproximately doubled chase lenght?
-
Now imagine the survivor meltdowns if sounds were as clear as they were before the 3 cycles of getting bugged and "fixed".
Respect the killers who can track survivors by sound and be glad theyre special and not the normal.
-
Well the 4th survivor is priotizing sick mga hatch plays over getting 3rd up again.
I dont see how that is punishable behavior for the killer.
-
Wouldnt grabs be easily "fixed" by making the "can get grabbed"-state linger a moment after leaving the repair or unhook action?
-
Most conventiinal throwing weapons tend to not riccochet in rl, but does so in media. I pointed out the chakram bexause it did in a rather popular tv series in my choidhood ( xena ).
I'd say any " throwable weapon" version of your " bouncing projectile killer" would have the similarityry to huntress. In that case the projectile would need another effect than " deal 1 damage".
Sad thing is that " throwable weapon" is probably the way to go, as laser weaponry, spells (magic missiles) dont feel fitting for dbd.
---
As for the shinobi idea, i have no idea how to concept them, as for a version with only the projectile seems a waste for the theme, but making them a stealth / ranged mixup seems hard to do, and would most likely end with subpar stealth and bad projectile, kinda like pig.
But since it's you wrecking your head for a concept and not me, It'd be interesting to add the GF-leaning mechanic while aiming to make it easier to shoot while circling corners.
-
For the people of exquisite taste, there's the Chakram. Might work on a female warrior
princesskiller 😂Your laser idea reminds me of the Shredder shotgun of turok 2, that thing was a beast.
Inspired by "House of flying daggers" we could add a shinobi or anything else capable of hurling throwing weapons.
-
Topkek remember when nurse nerf got confirmed and they went for the next best killer?
Both sides do it.
So it happens now is the killer turn to take away survivor toys.
-
A better idea would be to let it work after the gates are powered, not opened.
-
Not to downplay your experience, but THIS is more commonly happening.
-
Being the obsession should be detrimental to survivors by default.
How else can it even be considered a drawback or consequence to using DS etc?
Rancor's mori effect, quicker bloodlust accumulation, skillcheck-mali etc... so much good stuff to choose from.
-
Only add obsession state to the base game if it there is an effect to its presence.
I wouldnt mind various minor negative effects for the obsession. As it stands now, becoming the obsesdion is neither drawback or of consequence to survivors.
-
Make a 3-4 tiers list of all killers in your head or look for a streamer list.
The unhealthiest killers are those in the lower/lowest tiers.
People keep whining about the top 4 killers because the rest is simply too weak.
-
So a inmobile spirit that abrubtly stops moving is no feedback? Just because you cant tell if its the husk or not?
Damn, i wonder how these kinda survivors would react if one were to point out Jigsawboxes having no visual indicators neither.
-
Gotta love Survivors who let others die for the hatch.
-
Check the rules for "duo hunters" of " Identity V".
Duo killer could definitely work. Bexause it works in a "chinese ripoff" ( dbd mobile uses their skillcheck-UI lol)
Also: 2 killers on a surv leaves 7 free to do generators.
-
Sorry but removing camping might fall down a slippery slope like deathgarden did.
-
Remember the sacred statistics?
Each hook suicide is tracked as a Kill. thats enough reason to hate it, beside the obvious snowball potential to cause even more killer-skill unrelated kills or other suicides.
And boom another top killer nerfed because survivors rather kill themselves than learn.
-
Slightly off topic but this happens to every tool killers get or some released killers.
For some time survivors " get used" to the new stuff and then decide it's been unfair the whole time.
-
Identity V has slightly more agressive afk crows than dbd. Not working on a generator in X secnds will spawn the crows until you work on a gen.
Could maybe work in dbd too.
-
Solo can be elevated to swf. But personally i think its rather hard to do.
We cant just give survivors free info in the hud or auras. Thats not what comms used by swf do. If such free info is added, cwf will benefit too. ( its a flatout buff that has nothing to do with the gap)
To really close the gap, survivors need to be given a tool to relay information similiar to how comms do it. This means either voicecomms, a message system/chat wheel or a ping system, depending on the complexity of the ping tool. ( pointing a ping tool on the killer to reveal their aura like deathgarden did would be too strong)
A chat wheel/message system would be preferable in my opinion, as it can be used by people who dont use the same language. "its also closest to voicechat without being voicechat." It works in identity v.
Nerfing swf would probably lead to lobbydodging again until all X members of a group are randoms in the same lobby. Happened begore swf, will happen again. Not to mention the " just friends playing together shouldnt be punished" outrage.
-
They could do something like HELL EMBER from identity v. ( apthough maybe not as complex, due to control layout?)
That killer basically can throw 2 dolls ( killer sized in IdV) that reveal aura of survivors they can see. They tend to stay in a place like sentry wards, but can be buffed to become mobile. He cqan also swap places with those dolls, but that removes the mobility. The dolls can be dismantled. Google it for th full kit.
-
Remember "Nerf Ruin"?
Or "Nerf X killer", X = nurse, spirit, HB.... basically nostly one of the top 5 killers.
Strangely it keeps working for survivors.
-
Maybe it is time for DBD to embrace the IdV route. Remove grabs. Instant downs against mid action survivors.
Lol.
While I think that getting hit midaction should have worse consequences than just getting hit, I'd also prefer working grabs.

Which makes it long. Since he's smaller, they should shorten it. See how that works?
Trust me when I say that survivors should not want accurate "model-based" hitboxes for killers. Especially when combined with "accurate" hurtboxes for sirvivors.
(Killer would need to touch a survivor directly to hit an injured survivor's back)
ALL killers get nerfed by it, with the small weapon killers getting hit even worse.
You dont want the NEEDED compensation for such a huge nerf.
