If healing is such a problem, why not switch from Gen Slowdown to Heal Slowdown?
Because most of the heal slowdown perks are awful… and when you switch to heal slowdown. Congrats, you don't have anything to fight against gens.
@jesterkind said:
To be fair, Botany at 50% with the penalty and Botany at 50% without the penalty really aren't that different as far as I can tell. There are basically three use cases for Botany that are different now:
- You can actually use a medkit you got from a chest now. This is good, but not broken, they still spent time opening the chest.
- You can actually get two heals via addons from the healing action as opposed to one healing action and one heal from a syringe. This is… consistent, now, but not really better than before.
- Altruist builds got a bit better. Nobody uses these so it doesn't matter.
While healing overall is really good right now, I don't think it's problematic. Resurgence builds for 3 second heals only work twice and take up a good few perk slots/item slots depending on how they're allotted and everything else isn't so fast that healing downtime isn't meaningful anymore.
I also heavily disagree there's only one viable gen perk. It's already questionable to only look at regression and not other slowdown - as Grim Embrace, Corrupt Intervention, and even arguably Deadlock or DMS are actually the strongest slowdown tools right now - but even then, viable is a lower bar than top tier, so you can go as weak as Eruption before tripping it. You also don't need perks to manage gen speeds, and haven't done for years.
That said, there should be something to limit regression perks within a build so each one can be a bit more impactful without worrying about things getting out of hand. I'd definitely support that.
I'm talking strictly gen regression. Gen blockers are alright but grim embrace is pointless until the 4th hook where it's meaningful and DMS is only useful with pain res because it will force them off the gen… which is the one viable regression perk.
But in terms of regression perks? CoB even at 150% is trash. Overcharge is trash. Eruption is a straight up detriment to use. Undone was dead on arrival. Ruin has been dead for god knows how long at 100% regression. Jolt is only usable on M1 killers and even then it's dependent on smaller maps (on top of it triggering on low progress gens which eats up a regression event you didn't need so it can also be a detriment at times). Oppression is a fun gimmick perk that basically becomes useless against survivors that can hit a skill check (which is most of them).
And even IF we want to talk about deadlock, grim, and pain res + dms. That's still a part of the problem. We're talking about the top of the top. It's the top perks or nothing, because the other ones aren't just "meh", they're terrible.
-
Healing got buffed. Less time spent healing = more time on gens.
Plus gen regression perks being awful across the board.
-
I'm sorry if this is true, this is a complete failure of like… 1st grade math.
Is "4 > 1" complicated? How could this ever function without survivors just always winning the vote and going to the most survivor sided map available lmao.

I think the killers who very much relied on gen slowdown are going to struggle for a bit. You can succeed with minimal slowdown or no slowdown, but it's a much harder game. I've switched to mostly aura reading with one passive slowdown i.e. Pain Res. No downtime for patrols or kicking gens. It works, but you have play at a frenetic pace.
Yes but you're making my point for me. You're using the one gen regression perk that CAN be used solo and be effective since it actually hits hard. You cannot do this same tactic with the other regression perks, because they suck. In an attempt to fight the 3 gen meta and regression perk stacking they've made them all so useless on their own that now you HAVE to stack them.
-
The problem is this:
Gens haven't gotten any slower to do (if anything buffed healing has made it faster, since less time healing is more time on gens), but all the gen regression perks have been taken out back.
There's genuinely nothing except for pain res left. Even at 150% cob sucks, overcharge has been dead for years, oppression is a fun gimmick perk but good survivors rarely miss the skill check so it's meaningless, eruption is a detriment to use, pop at 20% is horrible, jolt is only usable on M1 killers and even then it's dependent on small maps to get value, and undone was dead on arrival.
They just suck… there's hardly any real defense for gens left meanwhile, gens still progress the same speed.

as a console player its so fun to play freddy on borgo for example and not see anything on basement or in the castle… This game have all colors in the same tone so its hard to differ one green to another…
yea I started playing dbd first on console with my friends, but once I learned it had crossplay AND I could put reshade on it? Never bought a pc version of something faster in my life.
-
I don't think I could play this game without reshade. Idc about its advantages, I just like color. The game genuinely looks AWFUL without it. It's just dead, everything is the same color. And things that are meant to be colorful get drowned out entirely. Reshade let's me crank that up and actually not want to gouge my eyes out while playing.
-
@adam1233467 said:
this post will be completely obsolete with tomorrow's patch, because the game will now have a Gamma system, so now everyone can have reshade, so there's no reason to complain about reshade anymore if everyone has it
🤷
as you said, reshade and Gamma are basically the same thing, so what's the point of complaining about reshade, it's an application allowed by easy anti cheat
Reshade and gamma are not even remotely close to being the same

Boons are hard to balance. Pretty much impossible tbh. If you make them strong to incentivize blessing a totem you then have the problem of like CoH where it was just busted and the killer has no counterplay other than having to go hunt down the totem which is a massive time waste for a role that doesn't have time to waste.
On the other hand you get what they are now… just meh. Tbf they're in the same boat as hex perks. Though I would say hex perks are worse because you can just lose an entire perk within 30 seconds of the game starting and you can't reapply like it you can with blessing a totem. Shattered hope just needs to be basekit, it's laughable they added that thing in as a perk.
-
@UnicornMedal said:
At the time, they felt very inappropriate. The game needed better balancing, not more objectives for Killer to have to balance. In the current state of the game, they really could use a lot of love though. I see no reason why old CoH couldn't make a comeback with how effective it was as a slowdown or why the others couldn't have a radius boost.
???
The only possible way you could be asking for old CoH back is out of ignorance, if you didn't experience how absolutely busted it was. Old CoH needs to stay buried.

Door spawn is the same logic as tv and tunnels.
Except both sadako and xenomorph have very clear and loud directional audio cues that can't be drowned about by being around the corner and by gen noises like the door opening for springtrap can. Also they also take a lot longer to actually come out and be ready to hit compared to springtrap.

I don't think the passive-aggressive reductionism is doing you any favors. Saying it's abysmal is an exaggeration, but yes, it is worse than last year. Never once did I say "works for me guys!", I am just saying it's not abysmal
I'd say going multiple levels in a row without one cake is pretty abysmal.

you're getting LESS cakes for spending manually btw. just autospend in bulk and you're going to get more, the generation rates aren't the same
this is one prestige on Aestri, plus 69 (nice) event items:

So yeah… things seem to be in order to me
Bit weird to see everyone saying it's a problem and being like "Works for me guys! No problem to be had!"

You are asking me how doing other gens the killer isn't just camping and spreading it out so his spam kicks aren't effective isn't counterplay?
This is the same crap we heard during the 3 gen meta.
If the survivors try to break the 3 gen immediately, people say what you said: just do other gens first.
If the survivors actually did other gens first, then the response was: "yOu 3 GeNnEd YoUrSeLvEs lolololol" (and deserve to lose).
I'm not talking about 3 genning. They were talking about removing regression events from gens BEFORE they get to the 3 gen.

At one point, it broke when a survivor died. Basically turning it into an early game pressure perk. It doesn't do that anymore but I have no idea when that happened since my eyes glaze over reading the patch notes these days lmao
I mean they turned it from double homicide to a first degree murder, either way the perk is dead.

Unless I'm wrong, base regression on kick does more damage now as a result of the 3 gen changes, so tapping is less effective than it used to be. In addition to that, there's always gen pressure which keeps survivors off of gens (not all at once obviously). And while I'm not an advocate of using perks as an excuse, there are a lot of perks that regress/block gens which also affect tapping. The revert to Ruin comes to mind.
That being said, there is counterplay to 3 genning too. It's just much harder without tapping unless you're coordinated, which is rare.
Yes but you wouldn't need to counterplay 3 genning with tapping because the change they are describing isn't re-establishing 3 genning.
Also what revert to ruin? Ruin is still god awful, they haven't improved it. That's my problem with gen regression, I don't want the change they suggested. I just want actual useful gen regression perks so I can stop using pain res to get actual meaningful gen pressure. Because every other gen perk is useless, unless you run like 3 minimum of them.
Also even with the buff to base kick regression the time they have to waste to kick from you tapping it is not only preventing them from doing a chase and progressing the game but it also means people elsewhere are still just doing the gens.
-
It's not even just p100's. I just put 300k into pyramid head and got only 9, but put 100k into springtrap and got 23? It's completely messed up right now. Hell I'm looking at my pyramid head and it's a whole bloodweb with not a single event cake on it, where there should be minimum guaranteed 2.
-
You are asking me how doing other gens the killer isn't just camping and spreading it out so his spam kicks aren't effective isn't counterplay?
Or are you asking me how gen tapping has no counterplay? Because I mean… it doesn't. The survivor runs up to the gen and completely stops regression by just literally tapping the button, little to no time required. Compared to the killer needing to go through an animation just to even apply the regression.

Either having it only activate during the 3 gen or reverting it.

Unless you are suggesting to killswitch everything quieter than average(which would be a lot of the ######### in this game) then this entire thread just comes across as pointless whining
or maybe it's because a quite survivor isn't as much of an impact as a quite killer. It's definitely an impact but it doesn't compare to a quiet killer.

All I am saying is that your suggested post doesn’t warrant a kill switch. Period.
You did argue that because you tried to suggest it isn't p2w when you reply with "dude just upgrade your headset it's not quiet, listen to those stomps!".

Let’s just ignore that part though.
It’s clear as day in the video as he walks away too.Let’s be so for real. This is on you at this point. Skull Merchant has nearly silent footsteps, you wanna kill switch her?
"as he walks away in the video" he's literally 3 feet away before it cuts off lmfao. again, gotta be satire.
It's not on me. His footsteps are objectively much quieter than his default skin. Therefore it's objectively p2w.

Yes I played the game before 2022.
That's not my attitude, nowhere did I say I'm a genius or that other people are stupid. I'm saying that people spam downvoting someone for saying "Hey! There's no shot your reply isn't satire.

Been playing almost exclusively survivor since the new update… it's genuinely not bad. I will die on the hill that it's diehard survivor players who got used to the game having horrific balance towards survivors (old DS, old dead hard, medkits that self heal in 8 seconds with 3 uses out of them, horrific map design filled with nothing but strong tiles), so once more and more of that stuff goes away… they confuse the game becoming more inline as "the game is killer sided".
Does that mean it's perfect? Absolutely not. Survivor has things that could be improved for the experience, and same with killer. Are there bugs currently? Yes. But people aren't just talking about bugs, they end up talking about the "survivor experience" as a whole in terms of the main gameplay.
But I'm sorry if we're talking splits here on what caused the killer queues.
I'm taking like 95% / 5%, being new chapter / survivor frustrations. It's a chapter with only a killer, no survivor and it's a killer that is quite literally the most requested killer in dbd history for the past like… 6-7 years. Not only that in terms of FNAF itself, it's pretty much the first time (iirc) where you not only see springtrap in all his glory and not as some thing that just jumpscares you every once and a while, PLUS you get to straight up play as him. Everyone and their mother should've seen these killer queues coming.

Ya seems that way... Sucks cause I just wanted a place to discuss the game, but instead I get down voted for making sense lol, I think we both play both roles so that's probably why we get down voted because we actually understand the game unlike the vast majority of people on the forums who just play one role
Yea honestly the quicker you get over downvotes on this website the better off you are because I just see it as whatever, especially since I know for a fact most of the people who do the downvoting never bother to have a discussion and present an opposite viewpoint or explain what I said that they didn't agree with, so they aren't someone to be concerned with. So it is what it is.

The footsteps are still very noticeable and it’s not like the skin turns off the audio for the loud, metal doors shooting open whenever he TPs to you
The footsteps are like 5x quieter than his normal skin. It's 100% p2w, it's not debatable.
Also the loud doors mean nothing because the doors are so close to gens that it's a free hit anyway. The only times the door is counterable is when you can see the keypad flashing beforehand.
-
That springtrap one is egregious holy lmao. It's actually like impossible to get caught when going through doors.
Springtrap in chase? Door is free.
Springtrap not in chase? Don't go in door
I've had 1 singular grab in a plethora of springtrap games and it was from a bot.

People were still stuck on DMS PR but some of us figured it out early on.
The patch before they buffed overcharge.
Though I will say, people may have started using the buffed gen perks in 6.1.0 but after more searching around on the interwebs, pretty much all the posts or videos I see that even use the term 3 gen meta and talk about it were from like october and after. 6.1.0 happened in june (july?). And also from what I can remember while playing during that time, 3 genning really did not pick up speed like that.

Dunno if I agree, since Overbrine Eruption was meta and that was definitely not healthy or good for the game at all.
No that's what I mean it wasn't meta yet. People didn't discover that 3 gen stuff til knight and skull merchant came out, and since they excelled at 3 genning they also ended up exposing how good it is overall.
Before that it was the pain res + dead man's meta.

I wouldn't mind going back to 2020 or 2021 DBD. It was pretty balanced, and I'd like to think the community was happier back then.
I do think my personal favorite time was before knight and SM got added. That's not to say I don't like knight (SM is a different story) because knight is my 2nd favorite killer, I love the guy.
But it was like right before 3 genning started, so they hadn't butchered like… every gen perk yet. It felt so nice to actually have useful gen regression perks. It felt nice to not have to use pain res or nothing.

And even with all of that singularity and uninown are still wayyy better killers than springtrap. Also we are forgetting springtrap is the only killer who lets survivors tp across the map too. Meaning good players can use them to unhook without making themselves visible to him.
Idk why people want to make him like sadako or demo, which are just jokes ahainst any player thats not new/throwing on purpose, but if thats what the playerbase wants its clear they absolutelly deserve their ghouls and dash killer slop.
Why is your response to something not being a free guaranteed hit, is "man this killer is going to be awful!!! have fun with dash slop!!"
Like??? Brotha it's a tp with no cooldown that can't be turned off by survivors. It's already better off that alone, let alone the fact he's a ranged killer on top of it lmao.
-
@squbax said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3947641#Comment_3947641
The range attack is a valid argument, but springtrap is in no way the best tp out there when singularity and unknown exists. Those tps are actually powerfull, they are a danger to be faced, not a glorified surprised that only works if the player is doing something else in a second monitor like what dredge, sadako, demo, xeno and freddy have.
Unknown has a very limited amount of tp's he can have plus survivors can straight up remove his TP's.
Singularity needs LoS to a marked survivor with a cam, and on top of that… emp's exist. I'm not talking about just him shooting the survivor himself, when I'm talking about tp's cause to me that's more of a chase power and less of a tp like the one we're speaking with, with springtrap and all of them.
Let me try and word it better. He has the best crossmap TP system.
- Zero cooldown
- No map wide directional audio cue
- Door placements can lead to free guaranteed hits
- He comes out of his TP extremely fast so just the audio of the door opening isn't enough to actually make any meaningful distance
- Survivors can't physically turn off his TP. Unlike dredge who can get his lockers locked, singularity can have his cams emp'd, demo can have his portals destroyed, and sadako has quite literally one of the worst TP cooldowns with survivors turning the TV's off.
-

Because all I've learned in this post is that it's straight survivor players wanting the game to be completely favored to them. Back when they had infinites, old ds, old dead hard, the big maps filled with just strong tiles, 8 second self heals, etc etc. Of course they want it back. Like somehow my reply of "Both sides need fixing and both sides should receive benefits, and not just one side. And people need to stop having an 'Us vs Them' mentality" gets downvoted.

I said it wasn't entirely balanced early on and I know this from watching older youtube gameplay videos. Then, when I started, it was more balanced. Not perfect, but better than what it is now.
I'm on a forum for discussion. Not arguments or being belittled by someone who thinks they are better than everyone else.. Like what you said to the OP. So yes, you're not worth arguing with. I don't do arguments with people who think they are better than others and clearly belittling them.
I literally didn't belittle you at all, what are you talking about??? I provided a normal argument to your points, hell I even agreed with you that some areas need fixing for survivor. Where did I state I'm better than everyone else?
I said that I'm NOT that good at survivor. I straight up downplayed my abilities, but somehow I'm acting better than everyone?
And yes, saying the balance was better then, than what it is now is saying: The game was better when it was survivor sided. That is that very sentence. Full stop. That is what that sentence means. Whether either thing was perfect or not doesn't matter. You are saying the game was better balanced back then, when it was extremely tilted towards survivor.
Especially since you said "early on" we're talking about. Old DS, old dead hard, infinites, old maps, etc etc. Like?? In what universe could that possibly be better than a game where both sides can outplay each other?

I mean if you give a stealth killer a global directional sound cue that is NOT a stealth killer (at least to players who use audio). But as I have read so far I think he is definetly gonna get one added or a big neon sign in the door he comes out with, its true however they said they didnt wanted him to be a stelath killer so they would not be backtracking anyway. Hope they at least leave the axe as it is, seeing as the two got addons got clapped, if they somehow nerf that he would just be a sad recreation of demo that has even less potential to do anything against sentient players.
Stealth killers shouldn't have ranged attacks and the best TP in the game. That's all it is really.
-
This is so weird. Especially since I caught a glimpse of your earlier reply and you completely misunderstood or straight up misrepresented everything I said.
No one was putting words in your mouth. When you say:
Even though the game wasn't that balanced early on, it was way more balanced than it is today.
I'm sorry but "early on" is not 4 years ago, and "early on" even as close as 4 years ago… the game was extremely survivor sided. So excuse me for perhaps reaching the conclusion that when you say the game was better balanced when it was survivor sided, that perhaps you are someone who prefers the game to be survivor sided. I don't think it's that big of a leap in logic and reasoning. The game was not more balanced and equal. The changes to killer that alleviated a lot of that pressure were much more recent changes.
Before those changes, it was as I described.
I think it's disingenuous to act like when you say "early on" that can't easily be taken as "early dbd". If that's not what you meant, then please try wording it a bit better and understand where I'm coming from when that is what you said. If that IS what you meant, then yea… the game was hyper survivor sided early on.
Throwing your hands up and saying "you're not worth arguing with" over absolutely nothing and seemingly just because you don't want to have a discussion… why be on a forum? Forums are based around having discussions.

Ambient sounds comopletely going away is also not enough of an indicator? Like I am genuinly baffled at this, do people expect sneak attacks to be announced? Dont get me wrong an indicator is needed for counterplay, but seeing as you have 1: door flashing if you have LoS of the door, 2: door opening sound, 3: springtraps foosteps that take effort to not be able to hear them and 4: map wide ambient noice going quiet when he uses his tp, what else does he need? A big red neon sign showing the door he will come out of? Like no wonder bhvr only does dash killers now, people are too used to stealth killers being a joke and it seems they like it that way.
No… ambient sounds going away is not the same as a map wide DIRECTIONAL audio cue. Ambient sound going away just lets people know he's teleporting, it does not indicate at all as to where not only that it's hilariously easy to miss out on the ambient sound going away when you have a gen blasting in your ear.
Literally all of the things you listed as "tell" signs aren't actual tell signs. He comes out of the door too fast for you to be able to react to the door audio alone, it's a guaranteed hit. That is not healthy. Especially when he has a ranged attack. Springtrap has completely powercrept xeno out of the game, there's no reason to ever play xeno again other than "yippee, I get to play as the alien" but in terms of strength and gameplay, he's flat out better in every way.
Other stealth killers don't have the best TP in the game and a ranged attack. It's not the same, you can't compare him to other stealth killers.

Yeah, it's not bad for killer mains. I play both equally and can say that killer is much easier to play than survivor, especially solo. So far it's June and Behavior has done nothing to address the solo issues other than punishing players who are fed up with the constant tunneling and camping. Sure, they supposedly put in fixes for these things but they don't work. Killers don't have to be right on top of you to camp (especially when you're hooked in the basement) and none of the anti-tunnel perks actually do anything. For example, Off The Record… If I wait 60 seconds then I'm flagged as being AFK and risk getting banned. Not to mention if the killer hits me, I don't gain enough distance to stop being tunneled and downed. How is that fair to survivors? But when I play killer, I don't have to worry about penalties. I can tunnel, camp, and just play casually and still win without any repercussions.
I used to like the challenge of killer but now it's too easy and I really want to play survivor more often but I can't because every match at least 2 people are dead in around 5 minutes. When 2 players are dead, there's really no point in playing the rest of the match because you can't finish the generators in time with 90 seconds each and only 2 of you doing them while trying not to be caught by the killer. Even then, if we weren't trying to rush to get the generators done, which most killer mains complain about, then we'd be flagged as AFK and get crows showing our location.
Even though the game wasn't that balanced early on, it was way more balanced than it is today. The only time killers struggle in a match is against a SWF while most matches are against solo players. Solo needs to be heavily rebalanced because right now it's almost unplayable.
To think the game back then was more balanced then it is today, is just saying you prefer survivor being broken but in a round about way. I'm sorry but it is.
Massive maps filled to the brim with strong tiles (basically none of the weaker tiles that exist now, existed back then so it was all strong tiles), medkits that would self heal in 8 seconds and get 3 different uses out of it before expiring, 5 second DS, old dead hard, etc etc etc.
I've played plenty of survivor, and I've been playing almost exclusively survivor right now because of the killer queue being too long until late at night. You know what I had most my issues with? It wasn't tunneling or camping. It was my survivor teammates having the looping ability of a brick wall. Countless times I'll see one person being chased, and I'm the only one on a gen (the other 2 aren't even doing totems at the very least). Countless times I'll see survivors who can't even make a chase last at the very least 30 seconds. It's abysmal. I've had a tunneler / camper maybe 3 games out of 30.
Am I saying I'm God's greatest gift to gaming on the sticks? No. I'm not, quite frankly I'm not that great at survivor because I'm mostly a killer player, but even I can make a chase last for longer than 15 seconds, it's abysmal.
Now will I say that there are issues in certain areas? Absolutely, 100%. There is always room to improve, but it goes for both sides. But I am tired with this idea that the game is just unplayable for survivor or that the game is completely killer sided now.
People will say "oh we're in a tunneler meta"… killer has been in a "tunneler" meta for literal years now. The only time it wasn't, was during 3 gen. This isn't some recent thing and it won't ever change because quite frankly, they haven't added any real reason to multihook. You guys act like survivors have only gotten nerfs and killers have only gotten buffs, meanwhile 99% of the gen regression perks are completely useless. They do nothing, they've been essentially all butchered. And yet, gens aren't any slower to complete.
The one sided "us vs them" garbage is tiring especially when the only things people suggest are things that only benefit their side and make the other side feel worse.

Every other teleport doesnt let survivors also use it and doesnt grat aura reading on a stealth killer no? So you can even use his power against him to shourtcut a hook save, that should be changed too if we want him to fall in line with the subpar teleport we are used to.
No but every other teleport doesn't also let the killer come out with barely any animation to it. Xeno is slow to come out of his tunnel. Sadako is slow to come out of her TV. Demo is slow out of his portals. Springtrap… springs out borderline instantly.
This makes door spawns super volatile where if you can't see the keypad flashing as an earlier warning, the door audio alone is straight up not enough to create any sort of distance and it's just a free hit if the springtrap isn't asleep.

yea im ngl foxy's hook is still like… really good. 10% for 6 seconds was straight up oppressive.
But the celebrate poster is an addon you equip to lose, because you straight up help survivors more.

The only changes he needs are fixes to the door spawn logic so they don't just get placed in a way where it's a guaranteed free hit.
