I was starting to go insane looking this problem up, never had this issue before the last patch but now I can't play with anyone without restarting my client first.

Its a bug thats been in the game since his release and they said he was fixed however he wasn't, the bug is inconsistent though it feels almost 50/50
yeah I'm aware, i'm just saying because it's inconsistent that more video evidence always helps, they may have fixed some scenarios where it occurs but missed others (giving them the benefit of the doubt on this)

They're aware of that. The problem is the number of cakes however compared to last year is SIGNIFICANTLY lower, regardless if youre P100 or not.
You might be replying to the wrong person, the person you replied to seems to be very much on the side of wanting more cakes.

I tried to throw a pallet earlier on mage hand and couldn't. You should probably just post your video recording of this happening so they can work with similar conditions to recreate it

You’re arguing over BP. I could care less 🤷🏼♂️
There’s no debate. There’s nothing to talk about. There’s nothing to go back and forth with. I don’t understand your problem? Not to mention you agreed with me from the beginning.
So sure, take the “win” on a dbd forum about BP.
Again, last response to you. Drop it.
I’m over talking to you. Literally. You’re just baiting people at this point.
There's nothing to go back and forth with but you insist on replying to everything? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
I agree with the sentiment that 'It’s not that bad' and I COMPLETELY disagree with your desire to antagonize people who can't play as much as you.
There's a difference clear as day between 'It's not that bad' and 'It’s not that bad :)' that I shouldn't need to point out to you.

I didn’t assume anything. The event is open for the next 19 days or whatever. Play it don’t play, doesn’t matter. You’ll get pies in the blood web regardless.
This statement directly contradicts your statement that "They have LOTS of time to get a whole lot more." This entails that they have LOTS of time AVAILABLE to play, which is an assumption you made in bad faith.

Bit weird to see everyone saying it's a problem and being like "Works for me guys! No problem to be had!"
Brotha it's broken. I only do bulk spending cause I can't be asked to manually spend and it's abysmal how many cakes there are.
I don't think the passive-aggressive reductionism is doing you any favors. Saying it's abysmal is an exaggeration, but yes, it is worse than last year. Never once did I say "works for me guys!", I am just saying it's not abysmal

you're getting LESS cakes for spending manually btw. just autospend in bulk and you're going to get more, the generation rates aren't the same

I get a lot of anniversary pies on my lower level survivors and on all my killers. P100 survivor absolutely needs to be adjusted. Getting items during Bloodmoon was cool because the offerings were kind of doo-doo, being personal and all. Now it's really not cool, I feel like I can't play my mains during this event because I refuse to go into any match without having a Coconut Scream Pie and they only get items.
-
This is fantastic news! The crows were awful, I don't really care if it takes 5 minutes or 5 years to get crows as long as survivors don't get them just for losing a killer in a long chase or looking for a totem anymore…

Well some people don't want to share their point of view just vote for it. I myself quite often don't write in every topic here just vote if I am against or not and leave it on that. Most likely their opinion could boil down to it being just that they like that they are hidden. Its not much of a thing to talk about.
We're actively talking about it right now, so this doesn't make sense to me at all.

That's good if true, but there's no indication of that anywhere. And unfortunately I can't simply rely on common sense since this system does punish you for other things that are also clearly gameplay.
Every other action requires "completion" of the task (chests, totems, boons, heals, etc). Gens are the only activity that counts for "partial progress", and nowhere that I've seen in any dev comments, posts, or patch notes makes an exception for, or even mentions, invocations.
I tested it today and linked video evidence of the invocation despawning crows in the post you replied to, but I agree that this is the kind of interaction that should be made obvious to players in patch notes (and even on perk tooltips, just like how descriptions of exhaustion and endurance were added to perks that induce those statuses).
You don't even need to finish the invocation, just doing it for a couple seconds is sufficient to not accumulate AFK points.
-

Crows always perched on the locker if there's someone AFK in one.
Right, my mistake. I've had instances where this wasn't the case but I think that was due to connectivity issues, I've edited the post to remove this point.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3944505#Comment_3944505
I don't think invocations are a good argument, considering that they have such a low pick rate (less than 1%), that I honestly don't believe they are important enough to overall the entire AFK Crow mechanic.
In order to get 3 crows while performing an invocation, the survivor would have needed to have been AFK for over 70 seconds while running to the basement, then have started the invocation after that. And if the basement chest hasn't been opened yet, the survivor could have reset their AFK points there. And if the basement has a generator above it, the survivor could have reset their AFK points there too.
Because really, if someone is AFK for over 70 seconds, and then performing an invocation for 60 seconds, then that's over 130 seconds of the survivor not completing an interaction. That's really bad. We shouldn't overall the AFK Crows, just to accommodate that.
This is not right. The person who said it's 70 seconds (I think that was you, actually?) is wrong, it's 70 seconds plus the 50 second activity buffer which only starts after the invocation is completed. The invocation itself counts as an activity and counteracts the accumulation of crows (now as to why this isn't clearly stated in the patch notes? that's a different issue, similar to the shadow-changing of Head On).
That being said, if all this were NOT the case, it should be stated that the points you lay out are completely counter to the point of AFK crows. A player doing an invocation is not AFK (as the game currently has correctly implemented) and should not, under any circumstances, accumulate AFK points. Pick rates have absolutely no place in this discussion.

@AmpersandUnderscore said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3944489#Comment_3944489
No, that's hyperbole on my part.
It's a reference though to the fact that it does only take 10 seconds to start giving you "afk" points toward crows. So unless you work on a gen for a bit (I think 15s), fully finish healing someone, fully boon or break a totem, open a chest, or be chased by the killer, you're basically always considered to be afk until you do one of those things to reset it.
If it is truly 70 seconds for crow 1, as someone mentioned here, then the act of walking and starting an invocation will guaranteed give you at least one crow, since you'd have to finish the invocation, which alone takes 60 of those seconds.
It's listed in the patch notes only as "at 90 seconds you have 3 crows". So, depending on travel time, it could be nearly impossible to finish an invocation without giving your position away for free, which, ironically, could also mean you don't get to finish the spell either.
No, that's not how this works. Invocations do not count as being AFK, they count as an activity.
- You would need the baseline 70 second AFK timer plus PLUS the 60 seconds from doing an invocation PLUS the AFK buffer from recently completed activities (it's the same buffer you get from being close to the killer) of 50 seconds. This is a total of 180 seconds from the start of the invocation before you get a crow, assuming that you don't do anything like touching a totem, getting in chase, interacting with killer power, touching a gen, healing, etc.
- Invocations also get rid of AFK crows very quickly, just like any other activity.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3944489#Comment_3944489
No. It literally takes 70 seconds for the first crow if the survivor is standing still while not being anywhere near the killer, or 130 seconds if the survivor is moving and/or near the killer.
Why would you be in a locker if the killer is nowhere near you? And two minutes is indeed what I said.
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
It did have that text, so that's an interesting change.
Although, arguably gaining crows by waiting in a locker for 15 seconds or whatever to use your perk is still not a good look for the perk. It doesn't work very well if the killer can just tell you're in there.
This is one of those "hiding is a core part of survivor gameplay" instances that's been overly targeted by this new system. "Excessive hiding" sure, let's try and do something there. Punishing people for "being sneaky" is too far.
The crows honestly seem more forgiving on live than they were on the PTB, despite the text of the patch notes being (I think?) the same as it was on the PTB notes.
- They do not deactivate Head On
- Killer interactions seem to remove/prevent them
- Being in 'chase' (as in the chase mechanic) disable them
You would need to have dropped chase and hide in the locker near someone else being chased for around 2 minutes before you get a single crow, which I think is a pretty generous time to make a Head On play. I do still sympathize with the sentiment that the system IS overly punishing to stealth play.
The scenario I specifically have in mind is stealthing out a Corrupt Intervention for two minutes, which would give everyone crows. But as a Head On main I think this is honestly a far fairer system than the first iteration we had on the PTB, I just don't understand why the changes appear to be undocumented…

People can have different opinion. It does not need to make sense to you. Still I do agree that there is no point of these offerings to be secret but others can disagree if they so want.
Isn't the point of discussion forums to have a discussion in which we attempt to make sense to each other?
-
I am surprised at the people voting the original post down (who are they and where are their thoughts on this?!).
There's no reason for these to be secret, all it does is encourage rat behavior to the benefit of the rat and to the detriment of both the killer and the rat's teammates. Ostensibly, this is the kind of gameplay the newly implemented AFK crows are supposed to discourage, so why add something in the same patch to encourage it…?
-
But is Borrowed Time really in a worse off spot than it was before basekit BT? It's not like it's changed drastically. What about all the perks that are ACTUALLY bad like the Teamwork perks, Cut Loose, Overzealous, Better than New, Invocation: Treacherous Crows…?
You might argue that none of those perks fit the anti-tunnel altruistic niche that BT does, but we have perks like Babysitter that do. And yes, BT is outshone by Babysitter, but that's more an issue of Babysitter being extremely strong right now rather than a sign of Borrowed Time being weak. Not every decent perk is going to have high pick rates and that's especially true for altruistic perks, it doesn't make perks like Borrowed Time bad.

what about if people run lockers before you m1 them with a tape? I think you will have to down them an excessive amount of times before you can condemn anyone. that is just my opinion.

Its only been a couple days. Everyone will quickly figure out to just grab a tape first thing and always be holding one and Sadako will be quite bad once again.
I don't know about you but survivors are already taking tapes in a good 1/3 of my games or so. She still feels incredibly strong in those games because most survivors can't loop so it's trivial to catch tape holders.
That aside, I'm not sure what your statement has to do with Reiko's? If anything you should be wanting a buff to her if you think she's weak.

"She requires very little skill to play relative to what she used to require" this was implying to me that you were saying she needs to take a good amount of skill to be high tier my bad
i don't think she needs any more changes i think people just need to learn how to counter her give people time to ajust to the changes, bhvr tends to let everything settle before they go and change a killer again before moving on.
let sadako have her time in the sun man i'm tired of playing wesker.
I don't think any character in any game needs to take skill to play or to play well, but it's nice and rewarding when they do. When characters like Sadako used to have some modicum of skill expression and it gets taken away, it removes part of appeal of the character that originally drew players like me to playing her and investing time in her. It's therefore disappointing when it's gone.
To be clear: Sadako does not need to be weak. I want her to be strong. I'd even be happy if she stayed in this fabled A-tier that people talk about below Blight and Nurse. But what I don't want is for her to be this strong while also being able to do everything she does by just mindlessly teleporting on cooldown and occasionally going for tape carriers.
The reason I do not want this is because she destroys soloqueue in a way that's pretty unhealthy, even against survivors who do tapes (which they've started doing in my games). But she also gets destroyed against good teams. I've only lost one game so far and it was against a team who knew how to do all tapes at once. The showcase that Otz, Hens, and Willie posted today also shows how she gets destroyed by coordinated teams because her chase is so weak.
I just want her chase to be buffed and her global condemn to be a little weaker. They could make Reiko's Watch and Old Newspaper basekit and this would greatly buff her chase. They could remove the change causing her to drop chase while demanifsted and this would also buff her chase by preventing survivors from spamming windows. This would make her more balanced and more fun. Note that "more balanced" doesn't have to be "weaker." I would mean giving her a better chance against really good teams and being less oppressive against uncoordinated teams.

Where did anyone say she needs to be weak? Who is making that argument? Seems like a strawman. Check my thread. I've called for buffs to parts of her kit.
Saying "it's been a week" when we've been playing her for over a year and can readily see how the changes pan out is the exact sort of mentality that leads to the balance team ignoring the community and going back to their alleged spreadsheet. Do you really trust that the balance team will return to her if we don't give feedback now?

my dude she's an m1 stealth killer just do the tapes like you would pigs beartraps it's not hard lol
I don't play much survivor, I'm speaking as the killer :) It's really not hard to cut off a survivor who is carrying a tape in the vast majority of matches. It encourages a style of play in which she tunnels down and slugs a tape carrier or two tape carriers and usually this leads to me getting a condemn at 4 or 5 gens.
She requires very little skill to play relative to what she used to require and the counterplay around her is much more involved than just 'take a tape' now, it's too much for survivors. There's almost no challenge in any of the matches.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3491911#Comment_3491911
it was not optimal in either versions. the only difference was that in PTB, you got punished regardless of what action you took. now it is neutral between either action. slugging means that you do not waste time hooking but your not progress any hook-states so if someone is downed 4 times, then you not hooking them hurts you. the upside of hooking is that they are guaranteed to die in 3 hooks. you remove reliance of the power by hooking the survivor.
New changes encourage hit & run Sadako. you want to hit as many people with tapes to knock them out of the survivors hand to maximize condemn build up. I think you should give new Sadako a try. it might not be as bad as it appears.
I pretty much exclusively play her as killer so...
After having played her quite a bit, I still disagree. There is absolutely no reason to hook in nearly any game but there are plenty of reasons to slug, especially after downing a tape carrier.

I agree with you a lot here.
I play Oni often and once I got Sadako I had a very familiar feeling. If I get in a lot of condemn early then she will steamroll a team because they have to relieve a lot of pressure quickly and you have time for the chases and get the down. However when the survivor are in the flow you will struggle a lot and have to fight for your edge a lot.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3494780#Comment_3494780
She feels easy now because a lot of survivors will just play against her as they did against the old Sadako.
I had survivors who never every grabbed a tape and once they did and ran into me I hit them, the tape exploded and they became fully condemned...of course I win against this...it is basically the same as going against a Pig and ignoring her trap the entire time and then complain about her getting too many kills.
For me she is a descent Killer now. Let her be, she is a good little ghost now.
This isn't the only reason she feels easy. Global Condemn as a mechanic is an easy thing for her to work with. It's a lot of pressure on survivors with little effort on her part besides using her power on cooldown. The pre-rework Sadako at least had some skill expression in the form of i) demanifest mindgames, ii) keeping track of survivor locations, and iii) herding survivors towards her TVs.
The only skill expression in the reworked Sadako is a reduced version of ii), since now she keeps track of tape holders. It's a much easier version of her to play. On the contrary, the counterplay from survivors requires identifying TV locations, knowing which TVs are turned off via Projection vs. via teammates so that you know where you can grab a tape, knowing where she is and being prepared to loop her, being prepared to bodyblock for tapeholders near windows... it's a lot more skill than the Sadako player needs to put forward and it's not a healthy balance for soloqueue to have.
-
To expand on this: I think it would be really healthy to put a cooldown on the infliction of global Condemned from Projection (say, 30 seconds) which would be separate from her Projection cooldown. Her pressure on uncoordinated teams is absurd strictly because of the new global nature of Condemned, so this would make her more balanced.
But her chase is still among the worst in the game, so give the missing extra invisibility duration from the nerfed Reiko's Watch to her basekit; Possibly also make Old Newspaper basekit!
-
So now that she's out and we've had the chance to play her, I think my original impressions are confirmed: She's super super strong against uncoordinated teams to the point of being oppressive. Absolutely feast-or-famine matchups because against good survivors who can loop she's more miserable to play as than she used to be. I've tried some games with the nerfed Reiko's and... it's really hard to tell what it's doing. Really need to do a lot of testing to see if this addon is even worth running now.
I'd gladly take a nerf to her the parts of her kit that the rework have made oppressive (the global condemn) somehow in exchange for getting the fun part of her (Reiko's) back.
