The reason why Tunneling is in the game is:
1) Gen speeds... 1.0-2.2 charges per second not counting perks, Toolboxes and great skillchecks means that gens will take 90 seconds to 45 seconds... but as soon as you add in hitting great skillchecks a solo Survivor can complete a Gen in 45 seconds... So the Killer is getting rid of 1.0 charges per second on Gens and free saves and healing
Also the Killer can't chase anymore then one Survivor at a time... meaning that the game is 4V1 but chases are 1V1
So your idea falls flat...
-
BHVR making "metas" less appealing is making the "metas" even harder
BHVR needs to realize why perks are popular not just cause they are used the most
Players want to win "easy" so "metas" result from it
-
It's a love hate relationship to say the least....
I love to play as the Pig... but hate going against her
I like to play Spirit, Hag and Huntress... but I don't like to play against Hag but the other two are ok
But it's more like I don't like the playstyle that other players use when playing those Killers
But then again I do like to go against Spirit, Huntress, Doctor, Hillbilly and Nurse
Maybe I'm weird.... nope I am weird
I like to see the skill of the Killer players that I go against... and I like to see how the Survivors react to my Killer of choice
-
Ok..... here we go again
Survivors progression: 1.0-2.2 charges per second (not including perks, Toolboxes or great skillchecks)
Killers regression: .25 charges per second and 2.5% of lost progress
What's balanced about that
Chase starts with the Survivor in front of the Killer... so Survivors have more control in chases... mindgames make it a bit more even
And the chase music is really loud with no way to turn it down
Yes Killers will still Camp and Tunnel cause BHVR still hasn't realized that the base game favors Survivors
Also Maps still have issues with them...
Bloodlust is necessary... they did try no Bloodlust but it didn't last long
The game is still 4V1... but chases are 1V1... there's to much there for any real balancing to happen
-
True... but for me it's like do they understand why perks are "meta" and 2-3 Killers are strong and 2-3 Killers are weak (the rest are in the middle)
Some of the changes are welcomed to see on paper but in practice it's more like a nightmare... and the opposite is true as well
-
Hexes work from the start of the match... Boons need to set up
Hexes effect everything... boons only effect what's inside the radius (diameter... whatever you think is applicable)
-
Math only proves people points
Survivors getting less BP... Either they didn't do much or the Killer didn't allow it to happen
Perks aren't the only things that need to be changed
Base progression and regression need to be looked at
Hook timers need to be longer (for Survivors sake)
Gens times need to be looked at
Maps need to be looked at
Then perks... but not before or during
-
I get it... Deadlock's going to be "meta"
BHVR needs to understand why perks are "meta" instead of nuking them as soon as it shows up on their radar
-
Make a 1V1 chase gamemode
That's all I can offer
-
Gearhead... Sounded really good in it's original state
Oppression... looks good on paper except for the cooldown... would be better if BHVR actually buffed base Gen regression
DMS... was an obsession perk and had synergy with the other obsession perks (Furtive Chase being the best and Nemesis being the next)
Retribution... a Hex perk that once cleansed it would show everyone for 10 seconds... now we have more Aura Reading perks... also had synergy with Hunted Grounds, TOTH and Undying
Hot Take... Eruption... if BHVR just made skillcheck actions a no go (Healing and Gen repair) it would've helped a little bit
Hex: Ruin... the 200% regression rate increase made this perk worth bringing into most matches... and it gives Survivors the choice to either repair the Gen as far as they can get it (Completed for the most part) or to find the Hex Totem (which is what usually happens)
Hex: Huntress Lullaby... worked better when all skillchecks were affected (If I remember right)
Hex: TOTH... was so much better when the notification was a thing
-
Being able to 12 hook before the last Gen pops is one thing
Being able to 12 hook after the last Gen popped is another
So much would have to change so much
-

Well if those are your points about adrenaline, here's one for noed,, it rewards you for losing the game and shouldn't be encouraged, there you go
No... it doesn't
NOED only activates once all of the Gens are done... not if all four Survivors are still alive and no hooks have happened
Adrenaline only activates once all of the Gens are done... not if on death hook
Perks don't have conditions of sucking in order to activate
-
I mean yea we all suffered through some (Word I can't say out loud) playing Killer
If that's the case then play Observer Wraith... Don't come out of cloak
Run... Discordance, TOTH, Fire Up and Whispers
And observe the Survivors actions
You can fake coming out of cloak... but don't come out fully
And bring addons that you feel like to...
-
They made basekit BT along side the change to OTR and nerfing of DS (among other things)
So there wasn't that much data on how basekit BT actually is (If my memory servers me right)
-
Yea... controllers do suck
But it's on BHVR to make separate inputs... so we wait (and have been waiting)
-
Making Maps bigger would solve the issue
-
It's more like 75%/25% BHVR's fault and out own
BHVR is the that made the game and we are the ones playing it
They are the ones that can make the changes and we are the ones that have an opinion on what we think needs to be changed

I couldn't of course. Charlotte is slower than sending Victor. I was far away.
Ok fair enough
-
So was she the only one on death hook...
It looks like she played her perks well...
But then again you could've hit her with Charlotte instead of Victor when she insta-healed...
What I do is hit with Charlotte then release Victor and get the down with Victor... and if there's another Survivor close by I'll put Victor on them
-
So there are perk that have some of those suggestions
Plaything: The Survivor affected by it will show the Hex Totem if within a range (I forget what it is and I'm too lazy to look it up)
Visionary, Daja Vu and Detective's Hunch: Each one of those perks show Gens if the conditions are met
Plus Killers don't run Hexes much anymore so that one won't do much
-
It is worth the thought though...
If we played the game as intended we would have to deal with "meta" perks
We wouldn't have to deal with OP Killers cause we would play different Killers
If we didn't care about MMR or 4K's and 4E's then things would be different
But we are the kind of people whom will find the easiest way to win or come as close as they can

But eruption is the second best regression perk after thus patch. Jolt been the best imo.
But the question was if anything will get buffed... and I don't see that happening
Unless I'm mistaken
-
Pig: Combat Straps
Hag: Either setting traps faster or distance to teleport (I forget what they are called)
Huntress: Quick recovery (I forget what it's called... Oak Haft I think)
Spirit: There's a lot for her... Faster power recharge, Faster movement speed, longer power duration, Quicker power charge up time (I cycle between all of them... Plus I can't remember what they are called)
Doctor: Calm series
P.S. There's more but I can't remember them all... LOL
-
I don't think so... If the Killer makes that choice then it's going going to be the same
But we will see
-
No Gen defence won't get buffed... And proof of it is what they already have done to it in the past
Ruin- unused or not worth it
Pop- unused or not worth it
Eruption- not used as far as I can
Now with these changes Call Of Brine and Overcharge won't be used as much
And the healing changes might be tinkered with further but it won't change much
-
I did say that it looked good... but If Built To Last was being used why not take Iron Maiden or that Dredge perk
I'd also say the Sloppy Butcher is going to be used for a lot of M1 Killers
At this point don't worry about Gens... they are going to get done
But that's just me... my opinion
-
They might be thinking of increasing the Hook timer since they increased Gen times and Heal times
But all of that comes to a halt once you actually look at Gen speeds... that 90 charges can be done in 45 seconds... Healing only feels longer cause we are used to less then 10 second heals just give it time and adjust accordingly
Maybe instead of running Second Chance and Gen perks Survivors might think of bringing in a Healing perk to "help out"
Killers do those things cause Gen speeds are fast enough to stop any attempt any slowdown and heals were just as fast
-
Honestly is looks good...
But downing a Survivor within 30 seconds of the match starting will take off Corrupt... making using that perk a moot point (If BHVR did just thought of what they did to Lethal and apply that to Corrupt it could be better)
Deadlock is technically better with dealing with Gen-rushing
Franklin's Demise maybe worth it if you happen to find a Survivor quickly... but after that those Toolboxes maybe used up
Jolt... it's ok for what it does... but only taking off 7 charges per down doesn't mean all that much
Discordance works well against Prove Thyself
Fearmonger can also work against DH... but yea it works against all Aura Reading and Exhaustion perks
-
It's the same gameplay loop...
Chase, down and hook Survivors
Run away from Killer, do Gens, open exit gates and escape
Everything else is secondary (Totems, Healing, Unhooking, Kicking Gens)
And the fact that BHVR wants to shake up the "meta" without realizing why the "meta" exists in the first place
So what we want is different gamemodes (like 1V1 chase mode... or material gathering) and BHVR to understand why the "meta" exists in the first place
-
Yes Camping is a problem... but why do Killer Camp
1) Cause if they leave and a save happens the Survivor that was hooked can be healed in 16 seconds or less
2) Gens can pop anywhere between 45-90 seconds
Anti-Heal builds aren't as effective as they once were
Gen regression builds only seem to annoy Survivor players but are necessary
But I do have a feeling that BHVR might increase hook timers soon

i think these are all fantastic ideas but do you think rank mode would split the playerbase too much?
What do you mean... we already have a Ranked mode (just not how we see other games do one)
They kinda need to do an unranked mode... among other modes to have a difference in gameplay
-
Firstly... play all of the Killers (have 3-4 that you can rotate through but have the other that you can play to a level that you feel comfortable with)
Secondly... Corrupt over Lethal unless you are using another Aura Reading perk (or an addon) or are using a mobile Killer (Nurse, Blight, Wesker... ETC)
Thirdly... Playing on Ormond is a "trial by fire" kind of map
Forthly... Playing Plague is a question I can not answer so practice what other people have suggested
-
So is this where we can talk about the game through an Xbox players experiences???
And talk about the optimizations that we want
Or is it where we need to say holding "RB" is boring and "RT" only Killers are not fun (but for me it's X and RT)
-
A lot of those perks don't need changes... they are good enough
But... I'll give you some ideas for 4 Killer perks that do need some changes (also I haven't used 3-4 of those Killer perks)
Also... I know more about Killer perks then Survivor perks
Dying Light: Could be capped at 6 stacks with 6% so a total of 36% slower Gens
Gearhead: needs to be reverted
Predator: Could give a direction to the Scratch Marks rather then making them narrower
Surveillance: Could get the loud noise notification for the Survivor hitting a skillcheck from Call Of Brine
-
Kinda shows what Console players have to deal with
But being new doesn't necessarily mean much... you can be a new player on PC and deal with the same things

I would rather see new game modes and new ways to kill and escape, not the same old hold m1 for the whole match, but something more interactive that brings life back into it , or even have the 2v8 people were asking for, forge mode to build maps and then have the community submit to be ranked by the rest of the community on a dev stream that the winner each month has their map added to the pub rotation and then once there's enough winners you could have a community choice rotation, etc.. there are plenty of ways they could revitalize this game and they're instead choosing to make it boring hoping we switch to get on their new game meet your maker
Fair enough... I can get behind that as well

I think hook timers should be increased for sure at this point, but these changes for healing are a step in the right direction.
Generators simply, Go. Too. Fast. in high level play. It is plain and simple. But the problem is, they go too slow in low level play. So we can't just increase the time it takes to repair gens. What needs to be done is to increase the power of spreading pressure and give more ways for killers to get survivors off of generators.
That is precisely what this update is doing. Once we have a viable method of getting survivors off of generators, THEN you can probably go and decrease gens, maybe even so far as lowering them to less than what they were before. 70-75 second gen maybe? Would probably need to come with a nerf to gen perks/toolboxes and other things.
But the point still stands. We are entering a world where BHVR is finally attempting to make it so killers don't HAVE to run gen defense in order to slow the game down. Meanwhile we can start working toward making it so survivors don't HAVE to run gen progression perks to speed the game up.
Its going to be a rough few patches (for both sides) but this is finally a step in the right direction, and shows that BHVR actually understands the game finally.
I suspect the end result of this will be:
- Self healing is nerfed
- Altrusitic healing stays the same as it is now
- CoH stays nerfed
- DH stays nerfed
- Gen speed perks like resilience are nerfed
- Gen repair times reduced to some amount below 80 seconds
- Some kind of nerf to toolboxes/BNP in relation to new gen times.
- Some form of thana or (survivors are worse in some way when injured) becomes basekit. along with probably a rework to thana
- Some form of mini corrupt (maybe corrupt reworked and a 15-30 second corrupt made basekit)
- Giant ass maps like mother's dwelling are reduced in size
- Maps that spawn guaranteed 3 gens are dealt with.
- Hook timers are increased (nerf to camping)
- Tunneling is dealt with naturally by making gens faster and making injuring survivors more important (spread the pressure)
- Probably a rework of the mangled status effect.
- Basekit unbreakable/mori they announced
- Buffs/reworks to killers that really need it
- Nerfs/reworks to killers that really need it
- And to top it all off, we start selling moris as cosmetics.
That's a part of my point though....
If they did increase the Hook timer then that would make sense IMO
Since that have increased other times (Gens and Healing) it would be a good change to come
I had an idea on Corrupt... remember what they did to Lethal... just do the same with Corrupt (5-10 seconds of additional Gen blocking)
I do apologize if this doesn't make much sense I'm thinking of a lot of things right now... and I don't have any experience to rely on

You brought up how if you're not seeing how you stack up against rest then it's like running on a treadmill, and I was just pointing out this whole game is like running on a treadmill because there is very little skill involved in this game once you figured it out and when you play a real game that actually takes skill this one seems like a joke to have people acting like it's even up to par to be really competitive, and in that sense this whole game is just like repeating the same level over and over again once you're broke in and used to it
Sorry... I did bring that up...
Talking about skill... yes there isn't much that one player can do to express it... and reaching Iri 1 "isn't that hard"
Perks and Maps have something to do with it IMO
So what if they did make a Perkless mode... would it work or no???
-
@The_Krapper said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3384702#Comment_3384702
As someone experiencing this right now this is for the most part right but the game is just in a bad place in its current state and a lot needs to be done to fix that, the whole where you stack up part I disagree with because once you go to games that actually take skill this is a joke listening to people talk competitive, they think they're better at holding a button than someone else and running in circles, the skill is pretty much non existent unless you purposely stack the odds against yourself or meme and that's for both sides really, it's either genrush or die and as killer either run a mid to top tier killer and stomp everyone with an op build or run a low tier killer with a meme build and get rolled part of the time and I say part of the time because half the games survivors are bots and they do stuff to get themselves killed faster.
That sucks....
When did I bring up stacking?
-
I'm going to say burnout
Also the fact that this game is too grindy... which leads to burnout
Learning the new Killer and perks... but that wears off quickly (be it cause the Killer isn't fun or perks aren't what we expected)
Chasing and Hooking being the primary goals for Killer and Completing 5 Gens and opening the exit gates and escaping being the primary goals for Survivors and not changing it makes burnout even quicker for some
Seeing the same perks being used match after match... burnout
Not seeing where you stack up against the rest is like running on a treadmill... burnout
-
Wow... they actually made healing take longer after making Gens take longer.... Now all we need is Hook timers to be extended
But then the base Healing time is the only thing that could've been changed... we'll see if they realize that
The addon changes also don't make much sense... but who am I in the first place
-
1) It's a Gen regression perk
2) It's used a lot of the time
3) It effects the Gen with the most progress... so having 1 Gen 90% and the others about 50% that one Gen will get hit by PR until it gets to be about the same as the others and Survivors don't like that
Yes it kinda does encourage chases but it also encourages Camping
-
Cause bringing in a Toolbox with BNP and hitting great skillchecks can make Gens go quite fast
Then bringing up Prove Thyself and hitting great skillchecks can also make Gens go quite fast
Also base Gen progression is 1.0-2.2 charges per second
And base Gen regression is .25 charges per second
So yes I wonder why Killers are bringing multiple Gen regression perks
Also I wonder why Survivors are bringing Gen progression perks (Prove Thyself for the most part)

I've always picked the perks that best suit my play style. Each of my killers come with at least two different loadouts. I also like to change perks on the survivor side. However, many people prefer to turn off their brains and let their favorite creators feed them. I mean it's ok to get inspiration when you don't have a clue yourself. Unfortunately, a lot is taken over blindly without being reflected. That's why I often react sarcastically when someone opens the next "Streamer x told us the truth"-thread.

Im aware of their effects and what they do ๐ However, PR on its own won't tell you which gen is affected unless you're next to it. I think you're telling me that PR is better than Jolt. Maybe you're right about that. But I can't discuss it because I don't know exactly which of these two perks causes more regression on average.
BTT: There are some perks that are underrated. That will change once the wise content creators have explained to the general public which perks will become the new meta. The fact that Selfcare was nerfed proves what you're saying. It was NEVER a good perk on its own. Why was it nerfed? Because too many survivors have played with it.
Well I haven't played in a year so all of the changes that have happened I have no experience with
Why listen to content creators about what's going to be "meta" when you can find what perks you like and go from there
That's what I did...
-
@Bartlaus said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3381368#Comment_3381368
while Jolt only works if you down a Survivor within range and those Gens lose 8%Only if you down a survivor? I mean, this is way easier than picking up a survivor and taking them to a badly spawned scourge hook on the other side of the map ๐. Not to mention that you can get a stun, flashlight blind or a sabotaged hook :) Jolt gives you less regression, but if you're lucky you'll hit multiple gens. Also, you only have to down the survivor.
I think both perks are definitely useful, but not overwhelming. Also, both depend on RNG or luck. So I can't say which one is better. Maybe they don't touch Jolt because it only works with a basic attack.
Again PR affects the Gen with the most progress on it... while Jolt affects Gens around you
Yea I kinda went to far by using the word only... sorry
But then again there are perks that are underrated... Oppression being one of them
I don't play much Survivor so I only know of Killer perks
-
@Bartlaus said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3381344#Comment_3381344
They just gather the numbers of people using certain perks and change themYes, and that's something I don't understand. Not every perk with a high pick rate is automatically a perk that overperforms. A lot of M1 Killers like to use perks like Bamboozle or BS, but still these perks are not gamebreaking. And if old Scourge Hook PR was oppressive, why isn't Jolt nerfed?
Cause SH: PR offers more effects then Jolt does
Hooking a Survivor makes the Gen that has the most progress on it to lose 10%... while Jolt only works if you down a Survivor within range and those Gens lose 8%
Hope that kinda answered your question
-
@drsoontm I haven't played for a year and that has it's pros and cons
