  • Well the game does a good job at giving information

All I can say is that survivors need to go against all killers early on so they can learn how the killers power works

I love it when they hook bomb, Im slapping everybody and someones trading

Oh I meant from the hooked survivors perspective :)

  • Let's be patient here and wait till the anniversary stream to see what happens

Plus I doubt it will be anything special to be honest

  • Have kindred be basekit... if the killer is in range their aura will be shown to all survivors (buff to solos)

Offer more tools for newer players to properly learn the game... cause imo newer players tend to be those whom learn that camping can have success... as for camping in general I honestly don't have a direct way to get rid of it and player choice has alot to do with how players see the game in totality

Teachable perks could be made a little weaker for the other survivors/killers... like Bond from Dwight... 36m aura reading on teammates could be 34m for everyone else... BBQ from Bubba... aura reading on survivors farther then 40m could be 42m for everyone else

Getting rid of the 2nd and 3rd tiers from the bloodwebs and making them only unlock the next tier up if used for x games, but spend the BP to get it

Adding a offering market to buy and sell offerings... so the only things to get off the bloodwebs would be killer addons and survivor's items/addons

Those are some ideas I have off the top of my head

If you can hop from killer to killer and succeed on many of them, especially without relying on perks, I would say that it's your skill in general. As I said before, it's hard to tell because there could be a number of factors. Each one of the survivors you play against has the potential to be anywhere from potato level to god level, so each of those would probably matter, as well as the decisions you made split-second, in the moment. Some killers obviously take more effort, such as Nurse. You probably couldn't just main Freddy or Clown, and then switch over to Nurse and have instant success if you've never played her. Thing is, if it's anything like the example you gave where you seem to know what you're doing regardless of your perks/killer, then it shouldn't take you that long to build up a little skill even with a killer like that, and you should be fine.

My point is, I've always just felt like personally, I don't care if I'm rank 1 or rank 20, or what anybody says if they want to smack talk my rank. I just know it's one of the most idiotic insults that somebody can toss out, because rank holds no significance when it comes to skill. All I ever consider improving on is my own skill, and I feel like with that, rank comes naturally. That's why I think it's silly for people to just focus on the number as much as they do. As long as you're just good, then it honestly shouldn't matter what ranks you're paired with/against. It just matters how each player performs in the game.

Sorry if it was a bit drawn out for a reply... I don't really know how to put it concisely, and I'm trying to be careful not to sound like a jerk too much.

Oh no you're good....sorry if I didn't explain things the way to understand

You do have a point about general skill of killers.... I also understand that rank means next to nothing

But as you said other players take rank way to seriously for their own good

I would need you to elaborate on that. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.

Just in case I do understand, based off what I'm guessing, if somebody is playing a killer they already know, and have a certain build that they're used to using, then depending on the character they should be able to get roughly the same results. I really depends on how good or bad the builds you're talking about are. Like if you're using perks like Cruel Limits and Iron Maiden then it's probably not going to be as good, no. If you choose better perks, then you're probably going to do a little better. As I said, it depends on a lot of things.

Anyway, I'd just need you to elaborate a little on that.

I'll try by giving an example

I feel like I can play a really good Pig (SB, CI, BBQ, Stridor).... I can get a 4k

Then I play GF for the first time (1 perk)... also 4k

Is it my skill on the killer... or just skill in general

  • Pig is the best killer to learn....

Hilbilly is the hardest killer too learn

  • @Huff

Would you say there is a difference between someone playing there best killer/build and playing a new killer/build?

Thank you, someone told me I should make an entire post regarding the Bloodpoint Grind so I thought I should put more thought into it because it is a rather large issue especially for new players.

I think I just read the discussion lol

  • Could do some math on iri shards

From lvl 1 to 50 there's an increasing returns from (I think) 25 to 300

    Then from 50 to 100 is 300... so 50X300 is 15000

15000 is enough to get a non licensed killer/survivor... and 3 perks off the shrine... or some cosmetics

  • Survivors hook bombing with the whole team

Running Kindered and seeing my teammates either selfcaring or crouching near me as the killers goes to start another chase

Running We'll Make It and having my teammates run away to heal themselves

Seeing a Hag place 3 traps near the hooked survivor

I could go on... but I think I'm done here

  • I think that a general BP change is worth talking about

The devs have a lot of work ahead of them to makes the changes needed for a growing game and playerbase

Maybe adding more perks to the shrine... increasing BP gains overall... adding more ranks (the numbers only)... adding another objective besides gens totoms and the exit gates for survivors (giving killers more time to do their objective... kill)

Just my 2 cents on it

  • I do have Feng Min to lvl 50 :)

  • Oh don't get me wrong I plan on getting all perks

I'm just going to be playing certain survivors to do certain things

    Like Tapp to clear totoms

    Dwight for cooperative play

Kate to be chased to hell and back

Jake to be a Sabo specialist

    So on and so forth

  • The anniversary stream is going to be a date to keep in mind

    We might get lucky

No, I'm not trying to say that people don't care about it altogether. I'm saying that it's not really impactful to the game, so a lot of complaints about the matchmaking/rank right now are just kind of... pointless I guess?

    Agreed

  • Cool... I see that

It would be nice to have different play styles for the survivors.... cause the meta is boring and I dont have it.... lol

  • @Huff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1275243#Comment_1275243

And I don't understand this. Take this game for example:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/833/good clown game (no names).png

I played the killer that's viewed by many players as the worst, if not one of the worst. I didn't run "meta" perks, and the worst you could say about the game is that I had purple addons. This isn't the only game I've had like this either, I go against high ranks all the time even though I'm usually not a red rank killer. I've seen a decent amount of people making matchmaking complaint posts about rank differences like this (around rank 8 or 9 going against a team of red ranks.) If rank matters so much, and matchmaking pairs people up with others that are so much better, so much that they can't learn the game, then how am I still able to beat these teams without going in with a fully stacked setup?

Oh right, because the number next to my profile doesn't matter. What happens during the game is what matters.

Maybe you don't care about the number next to your name.... but others do

    That's all I'm saying

  • @Huff said:

But why does it matter what the number next to their profile says? The way I see it, in DbD the ranks don't mean anything. A player is either just gonna be better than you or not. What difference would it make if there were 20 ranks or 5 ranks?

Cause ppl bring up their own rank to solidify their opinions on the game

  • @xenotimebong said:

Because every time I use an altruism offering I never get chance to save, or if I run a boldness offering I never see the killer, etc. etc. I always seem to jinx myself. And god forbid I run a cake or BPS, then I always seem to die on first hook with 5k bloodpoints.

Same here.... also trying to get those archive challenges done

Ever since the tomes were released I think of why do ppl use the offering they do

I bet it's the same for others

  • I like the idea

I was thinking of 10-1 in each instead of 5-1

And adjusting certain scoring events also would be needed as well

  • @toxicnancymain

    Personally I run

    Sloppy Butcher

    Corrupt Intervention

    BBQ

    Stridor

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/152515/is-pig-fun-to-play

She is a lot of fun, and every killer can be gen rushed, theres only a couple that have an easier time in slowing it down

Pig can be one of them under the right conditions

  • My first kill in this game was a RBT pop... lol

Not alot of players don't know how to play her

I'd say learn how she plays and how survivors react to her

She can be really fun to play...

  • She's a solid killer... she's a jack of all trades but not a master of them

As far as a build is concerned... I will tell you to first learn how she plays, then get perks/addons to compliment it or strengthen her weakness of being a victim of the time crunch

  • Xbox gamertag

Just my name and a number... lol

  • Pig: SB, CI, BBQ, Stridor

    Hag: Spies, CI, M&A, Nurses

    Spirit: STBFL, CI, BBQ, Stridor

    Huntress: SB, CI, BBQ, Whispers

  • @AvengerBear said:

Kill someone, aka mori. I just hate using mori

    I agree... those suck to

    Use rancor... DH

Technically don't have to use a mori

  • Scorpionz Pig main

    And @SpaceCoconut .... Hag

    Did you forget yourself?

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Send nice messages to each other. With the goofy MM, I've been trying to send more encouraging messages to people (Xbox so no postgame chat).

I try to do that... but sometimes I feel like sending a message would be misinterpreted as toxic or belittling

I do remember cool moments like a killer who's good (giving how MM is) or trying to improve (either a new player or playing a new killer)

  • Some of those work against me... some of the time

I suffer from CRS... (Can't Remember "bad word" Syndrome)

But then again it's hard to remember everything in a 4v1 situation)

  • "Range"

    Ha

    Don't make me laugh

  • Dwight has a new home

  • That could actually be fun to use

But the build I'd want to use is:

Thrill of the hunt (to track totoms)

Discordance (to know if the survivors work together)

Whispers (to know where to go)

Shadowborn (cause FOV is great for seeing survivors you might miss)

Addons would be any to move faster or see Gen progress

  • I play as Wraith, I haven't thought of a name for the build and how I play it... and of course I don't expect to do much point wise I use:

Discordance (so I can tell if the survivors do gens together

Shadowborn (so I can see survivors around me better

Haunted Grounds (cause I want to see if they panic)

Whispers (so I know where to go in the first place)

I tend to stay invisible but will ring my bell once to see what the survivors do... also will (try) to hit survivors whom miss skillchecks or if they get used to me ringing my bell, I'll completely uncloak and try to get a surprise hit

I've had some hilarious moments doing that...

  • It does suck when the situation happens and I wished I had it...

But oh well I just move on... that match probably wasn't worth staying in any longer anyways

  • I go against the one for Feng.... for the most part... lol

  • Because they (bad word) up and needed to get in front of their mistake

Do you honestly believe they would make the system then tell the player base to ignore it... come on

And most players on here claim their rank all the time

So yes adding more ranks will do something to relieve the ranking struggle and also if they adjust how ranking works would be even better

Like removing scoreING for kills and escaping... that way players focus on gameplay rather then an outcome

  • They should do it anyway

It's only EZ due to rank reset being one color

And yes they do need to adjust the conditions to pip

But I have been thinking of making the number rank apply per color

5-1 for each color... only adds to 25 total but making it 10-1 would be 50

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I mean even if you don't stop the gen in time you can still take advantage of the zero terror radius. I feel like combined with the killer version of Dark Sense it's pretty decent. I can't think of the name right now

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/147776/tunnelling-rant

You are 100% right. Camping and tunneling is a ridiculous tactic, rewarded by BHVR. So killers will never stop, unless something is changed.

I agree with you. I find it interesting that camping/tunneling ruins the QoL for survivors. Ruins their games. Ruins the games of those around them. Sucks the fun out of the match. Renders them no points and likely a depip, and always has. Killers like to point out that BHVR says this is an allowed strat, so it's ok to use it. Yet looping, which was designed into the game and created by the developers...which has been around just as long and was also said to ruin games and suck the fun out of the match for Killers was just significantly nerfed. The difference? Camping/tunneling ruins the game for 4 people. People who can infinite loop ruins the game for one. Both were implemented into the game. Only one has been corrected.

    It's pretty bullshit.

And this play style is the vast majority of matches now.

Because as much as people would like to say that it doesn't reward the killer - or that it's the survivors fault (hell victim blaming?) - it does reward them, and there's really nothing you can do about it but allow it to happen and try not to let it bother you when your time and money are wasted. 🤷

    I feel your pain.

Can I say I don't play like that

And I truly understand the POV both of you provide and also have it happen to me to some extent...

So I won't defend that playstyle at all... I do wish to be a player who can and will help (players on Xbox cause I don't have any other platform) and show players who wish to be helped to not play that way

Some killer players only see the 4k's by other players and want to replicate that in their own games

Same can be for survivor players who see other players escape "all the time" and try to replicate that as well

In short some players (not all) want an "easy win" to pat their own ego

  • My build for the Pig:

I run Corrupt Intervention for early game interaction

Sloppy and stridor for tracking and heal slow down

And BBQ&CHILLI for extra BP and aura reading (if survivors don't show up they're either in a locker, behind a Gen or nearby for the save)

Yeah, I use a different name. Felt that maybe using my Xbox name will give some people to do things that specifically annoy me. I'll add you on my accounts when I jump on. My main one is currently Purple Survivor, and unfortunately Yellow on Killer, because of a grind in Survivor Archives and that one reset. I'm building back up to my usual green ranked killer area.

    Will do

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Well, if you're on Xbox, I have two lower ranked accounts I use to play with friends who don't play as much. I'll jump on a bit later and find the numbers that go with one of them.

And no, it is not to bully low ranked killers for anyone else reading this that way. I use underpowered perks for a reason and I don't want my mates going up against MY killers, since at time of post, I'm in purple ranks.

I am on xbox... same name

I am in the green ranks on killer (Pig main) was near red last month

  • It's going to be awhile... around the anniversary should be when the devs could have a road map for this year

  • I would like to have as a teammate @PigMainClaudette

I try to do a bit of everything in game but it's frustrating to be the only one doing it

But I'm low ranked and only good on gens (at this point)

  • Umbra is also a really good Huntress too

  • My opinion of the Pig is:

She's fun to play with and against...

She does need to be looked at

I am a SAW fan and enjoy the symmetry between the game and movies

I like to get traps on ppl and see what they do (20+ trap kills... and first ever kill in this game was a trap kill)

I do feel like she's overlooked.... she strong in her own right... she has her own playstyle and I implore ppl to learn it

1 … 99 100 101 102 103 … 108
