They hard tunnel the 1st person to death then rely on eruption the rest of the match to make it easier to win.

I don't agree with you at all. Yeah stacking regression is annoying but its also a necessary part of the game. And making those perk less reliable is never a good feeling.
I like reliable perks, playing with survivor or killer.
And PR is a good perk design wise, rewards advancing the game and not stalling a game for 30 min.
When the only complain i can say about the perk is that beneficts campers, i think that it is a small complaint.
And survivors technically can counter that with other perks like beakdown or sabos
I moreso have a problem with seeing the same build rather than just stacking. PR is honestly a good balanced perk. But its just using the same gen regression build on top of one another that limits the variability with killers playstyle. I wouldnt be mad if PR stayed the same tbh. But it just gets to a point where it gets tiresome seeing the same builds

It's not different to any other sort of competitive game. Ball game, board game, computer game. People like to win. Of course what a "win" is in this game may vary for players.
But dbd isnt a comp game no matter how much u want it to be. It will never be fortnite. It will never be apex legends. The comp scene for dbd will never see traction because this game is literally rng dependent regardless if you have restrictions on perks.
-
I truly believe its a good approach that behavior is taking with regression from current rather than total progress. And hopefully they do it with pain res as well.
Killers complain about one perk, dh. While survivors complain about not just eruption. But the gen kicking regression builds that we see time and time again consisting of the same 4 gen regression build perks like eruption, pain res, cob, overcharge that stacks and constantly being used.
I truly believe eruption being gutted and changed into an info perk will finally take it out of the gen kick builds and into aura reading builds which i prefer more.
-
Hun. The moment it was reworked it from around 60% to 15% usage. Now its at about 30% because ppl got better at using it. Which required skills. Even if gutted, i still see ppl using it alot

Ive read somewhere in the lore that this resembles the horror monstor. It had decapitated heads in its designs and machinery related to tools. So maybe that could be it.

Eruption clearly didn't outshine all the other regression perks, because pain res still had a higher pick rate. The big lesson is that eruption had the PERCEPTION of outshining all the other regression perks, which is why it was the most complained about regression perk.
Similarly, dead hard has the perception of outshining all the other regression perks, which is why it's still the most complained about exhaustion perk.
Fitst of all if dbd said eruption outshined the rest then im taking their word for it. I could careless about pick rate. Im more concerned over the effects of perks in a match.
And its the reason i believe once again dh doesnt outshine at all because its not just certain killers that counter it. Lag/ping is also an issue on both sides.

Do people actually believe the “sprint burst is actually better” argument? Do people really think survivors, out of the goodness of their hearts, are purposely avoiding sprint burst because they want to provide a more fun experience for the killer? Sprint Burst doesn’t even provide constant value across killers either. LoL if you try sprint burst against blight, and even wraith would just cloak and quickly close the distance. Sprint burst is not the survivors “best kept secret”, it’s trash compared to the current dead hard.
If thats the case, then both perks have its flaws and one is better than the other in certain situations. There is no clear perk that outshines the other overall because every killer is different. Every map is different. Its the reason eruption nerf was a higher priority. It clearly outshined the other regression perks. And thats why the OP of this thread is completely wrong about dh getting a major nerf.
Besides, even if it did, ppl will still find a way to use it and killers will complain again

And trapper doesn’t make up the majority of the killers, but some people absolute love to keep bringing up trapper’s traps as an excuse that dead hard is “balanced” now.
But its not just him. You have one down killers. Bubba, ghostface, myers, clown-iri, huntress-iri, billy, wesker, and many more.

They're both "obvious choice" perks with too much value. They're both problems for the game and should be addressed. Eruption was stronger than old Dead Hard in terms of effects on a match. But that just changed. Dead Hard is now the best perk in the game.
Dh is the most used. But its still debatable for it being the best perk when there is counterplay to it being one hit killers, lag latency, waiting it out. Even sprint burst has consistent results than dh. I just believe killers have an issue when they get outplayed when a survivor times it well.

According to many survivors, eruption was “useless” against SWFs, so in their eyes it didn’t shine over other regression perks against all survivors.
Swfs dont make up majority of the survivor playerbase. And tbh, i still do see some swf players fall for eruption
-
Comparing dh and eruption wont help you at all. Eruption was without a doubt the best gen regression perk as there is no counterplay to it for solo q players.
Dh in certain situations and against certain killers(one hit killers) is useless and doesnt shine over other exhaustion perks at all. It has a counterplay to it. Doesnt matter how boring it is for killers of "waiting it out." Survivors wait out pain res and thats a solid counterplay so im confident it wont be touched at all.
-
@Entitled_survivor said:
First, Eruption will now cause the generator to lose 10% of its current progress, not total. This means the effect will be less severe on generators with less progress, but more impactful on generators that are nearly completed. Second, Eruption will no longer apply the Incapacitated effect to Survivors who were repairing the generator when it exploded. Instead, Survivors who are actively working on the generator will scream and reveal their aura to the Killer for 10 seconds. Not only will this make the perk less frustrating for solo players, but it will also give the Killer crucial information on the other Survivors’ whereabouts so they can attempt to interrupt them.
Thoughts? i was already using distortion every now and then and this seems like a solid benefit to it
Im a distortion, calm spirit and iron will build user anyways. So im winning anyways. But im sure not many killers will replace eruption with something else anyways
-
I say good. Maybe the gen kicking meta will die down a bit. But i can honestly still see slugging killers taking advantage of this more after dkwning someone. At least there is a skill part in that regard.
-
Dh is counterable. Eruption is not for solo q. We all know which is unhealthy for the game right now.
-
Its dead hard. A perk from a survivor that was designed to have a high risk high reward playstyle. So of course its gonna be different and in your face type of exhaustion. Besides, dh is considered a Mindgame like you mentioned. Most killers are just complaining because they may lose that mindgame if dh is successful.

You don't need to rework too much. I think its mostly fine but if it did need a change it should have two changes
1. Increase the time you can't pull down or vault windows and pallets by a small amount to allow a bigger window to wait it out and hit
2. Make it on a token system. 3 or 4 tokens and Once the tokens are gone then you can't use the perk anymore.
These changes keep it mostly the same and allows for skillful gameplay which if I remind everyone something everyone complained about with old dead hard.
They will still complain even if its token based. Killers will be mad they still have to predict dh even if they dont use it close to pallet. Being outskilled isnt fun supposedly

I don't think "being injured" is a "very specific situation" tbh. For most people it happens every game, and it it doesn't, you're totally dominating the killer anyway so you don't need it (and obviously no second chance perk would trigger, you'd have to use your first chance first lol) But yeah, it's a second chance bonus health state perk you can use an infinite amount of times with almost no requirement for activation.
Also, I think you meant BT, not UB.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338296#Comment_3338296
They definitely didn't "outright say they are gutting it soon" lmfao. DH is a problem and I think you know that.
Definitely doesnt take a rocket scientist to know if they mentioned changing eruption, they will rework or nerf it. No way they will inadvertently make it stronger. And once again, dh isnt a problem. Unless u make it a problem.

Ah, yes, because pain res has so many different advantages and nuisances. A non-directional scream or having to stop working on a gen for an utterly insignificant amount of time. That can't happen every hook, relies on the Killer getting hooks to do anything, isn't in every game, and can't be targeted or used on demand.
About the only relevant point is that you can get penalised by weird skill timings, but that's not even related to the perk!
If you said Eruption, you'd have more of a point. But that means actually admitting that DH is problematic in its current state.
I wont admit anything because there is nothing to admit. But glad you admitted eruption which is problematic. But thats why devs outright said they are gutting it soon while nothing on dh including pain res yet. So the tides are in my favor. Not yours.

But this is missing the point: people know how to counter DH. And that the counter is stupid.
- DH gets value when it's not even in the game or your perk load out. You get precious seconds whilst the Killer waits to see if you have it (which can then get you another loop). This was one of the biggest complaints about old DH, too.
- The lose-lose scenarios around pallets and loops, where DH allows way more greed... or you get hit and then get to the next loop. Either way, this buys more time in chase than any other perk, at all.
- A lot of powers have obvious charge times to give Survivors time to react to what's meant to be a strong ability. This makes timing DH for such things super easy. "Don't use your power because this perk exists" is not an encouraging thing given that the powers are what differentiates Killers.
- As a perk, it can negate all sources of Exposed or instadown powers; despite being nearly ubiquitous, DH counters entire builds.
- It still gets some value even when countered, because countering it forces the Killer to waste time. Or maybe you'll get to a loop, and if they swing too early because of that... boom, third health state and now you have a loop to play around.
And then there's the subjective "this is utterly ridiculous" of a perk making Killers too cautious to go for what should be a guaranteed down and instead having to sit on the Survivor's butt for another ten seconds to bait it out. Nearly every chase of every game.
Im not going to type multiple paragraphs. But what you wrote down is still the same mindset with pain res. And you cant change my mind. Even if they change dh again, ppl will adapt and killers will complain. Crazy cycle
-
@RainehDaze said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338209#Comment_3338209
What, are you claiming adapt to it means "enjoy the way it changes how the game is played"? Because that is an utterly ridiculous view on 'adapting'.
DH is creeping back up to its old usage rate, everyone knows how to play around it (or to just eat it). That's more than enough to realise how strong it is, and hate the way it changes the game.
Also, seriously, why are we comparing DH to Pain Res? Pain Res doesn't even do the same revealing trick it did when it was first released, and the counterplay to it costs all of a second on a gen with no other downside or way it can fail (and then it can't even force people off with DMS because you weren't on the gen when the hook happened). <_>
Im comparing it to pain res because most survivors are already trained in letting go of a gen before someone gets hooked. Not only is pain res is counterable but dh is too. And both do have times where it may be unavoidable. Pain res-get a skill check as soon as someone gets hooked so u cant let go. And dh-pallets.
-
@RainehDaze said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338180#Comment_3338180
Killers have adapted to it.
The problem is that the counterplay is just as ridiculous as being screwed over by the old DH for distance was. Not got a way to inflict Deep Wound? Sit on someone's butt and hope they don't have something safe to go for. Or resume the silly game of waving your screen around or fake-charging a power (if you can) to try and trick the Survivor into thinking you're attacking.
But all of this puts us back in the same stupid scenario of having to assume everyone's running DH even if they're not running DH.
And you still have like half or more of the powers in the game that give a big "LOOK AT ME COMING!" warning and whoops, don't use your power if you want to bait DH! (Also not counting that some things, like Billy, encourage people to stay injured and therefore entirely counter the point of having an instadown power)
All the things that made Killers hate old DH also make them hate new DH.
Adapt to it. If survivors managed to adapt their mindset to pain res(popular killer perk). They can with dh.
-
Elodie is just one of those characters that doesnt fit in the "cute" cosmetics types. Thats not her. Like Felix, they are both just one of those mature survivors that are dressed in classy and sometimes extravagant styles as thats their lifestyle.
Thats why most ppl lean more to feng because she fits that role better than anyone else and gets more revenue frome it.
Now i agree, they really need to branch out and give other survivors more cosmetics. Im getting tired of certain survivors getting more. But what can u do.

There's a lot to unpack in this post and it's a Friday afternoon but I'll do my best!
Game is not dying, game is also actively supported by us, regular new content, regular updates etc.
There has never been a plan for the survivor to fight back, they have hook states to compensate for that really, DbD is not a survivor fight back game, never has been designed that way and as far as I'm aware, never will be.
Maps are not necessarily smaller and they're not buffed to suit either side - however there's always going to be various maps that suit one side over another and suit a particular killer more than another, that's pretty much inevitable.
Can't blind the killer at a pallet? That's listed as a bug and definitely not intentional.
Perks are complained about on both sides, we've already acknowledged that we're looking into the situation with Eruption amongst other perks. And this is something that we hope we will be able to continue to do reguarly. Last summer we did do an overhaul of a lot of perks on both sides.
Killer speeds have not increased, 4.6m/s has always been the default killer speed, with 4.4m/s for most ranged killers. Killers need to be faster than the survivor, they also have a completely different sized hitbox and are not in 3rd person like survivors, which gives Survivors the advantage in looping etc the killers speed effectively balances that, otherwise they would never be able to catch up with a survivor.
Shadow buffs/nerfs are not a thing. True sometimes things are accidentally left out of patch notes and we acknowlege that and normally add them in as soon as it's realised. This is something that happens rarely however.
Servers have not changed over the last year - they are still the same servers in the same locations, if you've started to have issues where you had none before I do suggest checking your equipment for any issues or open up a post in our Ask the community section here to see if anyone is able to assist you in your connection problems. Our support team also has some helpful advice on their website Technical Support and Troubleshooting – Dead by Daylight
There is no favouritism between the killer character chosen and the map RNG that you get - you are just very lucky to get an open map when you have played as Huntress. Maps are pure RNG unless offerings are used and you could just as easily end up on Lerys as Fractured Cowshed.
I'm sorry you do not like the rift cosmetics, please feel free to give more information on what you didn't like, we're always listening out for feedback with regards to all aspects of the game and that includes the Rift and the Archives in general.
I'm sorry that you're not satisfied with the current state of play with Dead by Daylight, this is a live service game where things can and do change when necessary and we are constantly striving to update the game and improve upon it. The new Survivor HUD is an example of that, we were aware of the many complaints on how bad it felt playing as a solo survivor and many of us play this game as well do not forget, and we added this quality of life update just recently. There's also more to come for accessibility with the visual terror radius that we've mentioned briefly. There's always going to be changes with a live game, it's the very nature of the game.
Love this response. And i 100% wholeheartedly agree.
-
Absolutely love potential energy. Im very good at recognizing generator generation on certain maps. So i know to start off on faraway gens then dump it on very close gens. For example rpd with that horrible 2 gens in the lobby close together which is obviously a bug.
-
Thats because that requires chasing after being activated. And most killers dont want to leave their precious 3 gens. Because if they do, their family won't be free if they dont get their 4k.
-
Cant believe this guy is literally recommending a tunneling build and he's the face of dbd. Im honestly tired sometimes. What happened to having fun for everyone
-
Its so funny you say that. If dh is gone, and ppl use SB, killers will complain how it takes no skill to use(same excuse they used for old dh). Yet, new dh was that perk that required skill to use.
The better survivors adapt with a perk, the more possibility that killers will complain they are not getting their 4ks and want it nerfed. Crazy freakin cycle
-
Are you playing during late hours? Keep in mind, the mmr system will prioritize adding in any players at any level if it takes too long to find a match. Devs say they are constantly trying to remedy this but its honestly just an unavoidable thing.
-
@JPLongstreet said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/362723/why-i-think-dead-hard-needs-a-nerf-again
I think the devs came up with the current DH while looking at what you called bad and average players, what I call the normal/casual part of the playerbase. And this makes sense given those players, including me, make up by far the largest portion. Those groups are where they tend to keep upmost in mind when changing things.
Despite me having maybe almost 2k hours in, I'm an ok surv and a lowsy killer, and I have never ran DH. Yes I have been hit with DH while playing my beloved Piggy but it is uncommon.
Those who get the most from it are highly skilled vet survs who learned again how to master DH effectively. And thankfully they (like the top veteran killer players) are such a small part of the playerbase that how things are used at that level don't really represent usage across the broad scale at all. Kinda like sweats vs. sweats first world problems.
They've shown time and again they focus on the middle-ish and newer ground first when proposing changes, not top level play nor bottom. Now throw in it took what 6 years to change DH? Plus DBD is back around the top sellers again hence even more new players? What conclusion would you draw?
Exactly. And this is why eruption is getting the treatment of being nerfed most likely. Both high level, mid, and even new players suffer from this perk.
-
"I have some ideas on possible rework ideas, but I know they'd not be a compelling alternative to how strong Dead Hard already is, and it would just anger those reading, so I'll leave them out of this post."
Good because i doubt you'll have a good one. Dead hard was intended to be a high risk high reward in your face perk. And the survivor should be rewarded if they managed to pull it off successfully or be punished when it fails. Its has a counterplay.
-
Well for one, your chances of winning is already down the drain at this point. Might as well go for broke and still commit to gen even if ur teammate is hiding.

The who cares was clearly sarcasm as it's clear a lot of people care but I just wonder why. So many claim poor business practice when i don't see it as poor business I see it as smart business. I don't understand why players are upset that a cosmetic that has. O bearing on the game is removed at the end of the season or event when there is plenty of time to purchase if they want to
Now on the flip side I do understand if when the cosmetics return they are only for auric cells when we were promised that auric cells cosmetics would go to irry shard prices so if that doesn't happen then I see it as a valid reason to complain but complaining just because it's limited time seems like complaining for the sake of complaining or jumping on the complain lt bandwaggon
"Now on the flip side I do understand if when the cosmetics return they are only for auric cells when we were promised that auric cells cosmetics would go to irry shard prices"
I dont understand that. If it was auric cells only initially, then ppl should expect it to still be auric cells when it returns. Not iri shards. Thats exclusive to cosmetics that are expected to stay in the store when released, not time limited ones.

Don't worry Eyrie is still a terribly designed map, after playing it a few times it looks like all they did was shove all the boring super safe square tiles closer together so you can chain them all one by one now.
And i honestly love that. A plus for the survivors. And a smaller map is a plus for killers. Especially if those tiles with pallets get used up quickly so that will killers alot more with the smaller map.
-
Funny how killer mains are worried about 1 perk dh. Most survivors are worried about eruption builds rather than the perk itself. You never see a killer only run eruption on its own. They always have another gen slowdown with it
-
So what i gathered. I believe in order to prevent a report game hostage on the survivors end is to at least show that the gens have progressed a bit even if the killer hasnt found you for an extended time.
You cant get banned if you at least have shown you have done a little of progress regardless of how long it takes. You're still progressing the game....little by little of course even if ur hiding alot.
-
I think its best to address the solo q experience first before going for the meta. The hud update for solo q will definitely give them more info on what and how much to adjust on these perks. A dev even said they will go for perks in the near future after this update.

I find it funny how Vittorio getting another skin is because of simps, but Feng receiving a new skimpy cosmetic isn't also because of simps. Also she already received a Chinese/lunar new year skins before so, technically this could be just because they want to use Feng's popularity to sell another time limited cosmetic.
Haddie not receiving anything new 8 months after her release is tragic however. No amount of "she's just not popular" excuses the fact they didn't even try with her. Your supposed to give a survivor some cosmetics after release and THEN abandon them, not abandon them after they release.
This is why its hard to trust them with coming up with cosmetics for less used characters that need some. They rely on feng and play it safe everytime

If they really wanted to know why, reading just a bit of one of those other threads would take care of that, so no, I don't think that was the actual purpose of this thread.
And if a person can't be bothered to actually open and read another thread to see what it is about and instead just starts a new one to ask why the other ones exist...well, not sure I have anything polite to say about that.
But really, I'm pretty sure the point of this thread was to minimize the other ones. What is "important" is totally a subjective matter.
Asking a valid question doesnt mean minimizing another thread. And i didnt sense that at all here. Im pretty sure u just took it personal unfortunately. But the fact remains that ppl care more about gameplay optimization over cosmetics. There are more threads talking about gameplay over cosmetics.

Because it bothers some people?
Is the fact is being discussed hurting you, or more of a waste of bandwidth than the 500th concurrent discussion on nerfing Eruption?
If you don't care, don't read the threads, and spend time posting about those other issues instead of gatekeeping what others should care about.
I believe the person truly just wants to know why? And a simple "because it bothers some people" won't help at all when more people are complaining much more about other important issues.

Yes it is. Thats called skills. Something you probably lack if you cant bait it out.
