  • You'll be fine. Just bait it out.

I don't get the negative comments. He looks like a normal guy. Not all guys are slim and svelt.

But felix is a tall and slim man tho. His previous cosmetics shows that.

  • I honestly dont feel bad for killer players tbh. As a solo q player, its more difficult to not rely on 2nd chance perks for tunneling and info perks for camping killers as they take advantage of that strategy. And they are most of the time not even punished for it because i dont know what my team is doing.

It truly sucks that one person's experience is ruined because of a killers playstyle. So hopefully, this updated hud will cause solo q survivors to be more efficient and cause camping and tunnelling killers to learn to adapt and apply pressure on everyone which i believe shows great skills of a killer. Otherwise, gens will more likely fly in their matches.

  • Iron will is fine as is. Plenty of plays from me where the killer still couldnt find me while crouched which makes me a bit more quiet.

  • No but like at one point when it was reworked. Data showed on perk stats sites that sprint burst, lithe, etc took over dead hard.

Now its just that ppl have grown to adapt to dead hard now which is why its back at the top. And its still fun to use. But it still took a hit in percentage usage tho

Everyone will reach a point where you plateau while playing the way you would typically play. This point will vary person to person: Some people are absolute legends and will climb really high without much effort, others will cap out fairly low (and that's okay!). This is exactly how MMR systems work. The game is trying to find a spot where your playstyle, whatever it may be, will work about half the time.

That said, if you try to play in a way that'll make you win more often, your rating will increase and you will get tougher matches, eventually plateauing again where your new strategy only works about half the time. The harder you try, the tougher your opponents will be. If you feel like you need to tunnel after tunneling to win, it's more than likely due to the fact that you've climbed above your comfort zone.

To be very clear, if you're hyper focused on winning more often than not, you will have to try (and try hard at that). The game will not try to give you easy wins. Winning consistently means the other side is losing consistently, and that means the matchmaking system isn't working.

Trying to boil the game down to an equation doesn't really work. In your example, you haven't factored in the time survivors spent saving their teammates. This is by far the most important factor in the game: Pressure. If you have one survivor on a hook, another in a chase, and a third going for a save, that leaves only one survivor left free to work on generators. This is also something you sacrifice by tunneling one survivor; the other three have nothing to do but generators since you aren't giving them a reason not to, so your generators will fly by. There's way too many factors to stick a number on it without grossly oversimplifying it.

All that aside, I really wouldn't assume you're at high MMR (not just you, OP, but anyone). The actual distribution of people across all MMRs is like a bell curve. There's a lot of people in the middle and very few at either extreme (high or low). The vast majority of people will fall somewhere around the middle. While I don't doubt that some folks here truly are playing in the high MMR range, the amount of people there are so low that it's a really bold claim to make when you can't even see your rating.

Truly love this statement. Personally, i could careless about losing as a survivor. If a killer is hard tunneling my teammate, i will very likely sacrifice myself so that person can stay and play longer. If i lose, oh well. My mmr will decrease, and ill get a killer that most likely wont tunnel and more than likely be easier to win against. A crazy cycle, but thats the beauty of matchmaking.

What amazes me though, is that knowing the penalty is off I have had a Nurse with full slowdown who was slugging at 4 gens.... like, what do they think is going to happen lol?

Considering penalties are off it otherwise hasn't been too bad for me, much to my surprise

Exactly. If i hear her huffing and puffing, im packing my bags and leaving to begin with.

  • Lol! Idk i mean yea there are some issues but its not unplayable. Have over 6k hrs on switch. Yea switch. And i can definitely rock a killers world if they sleep on me.

  • If everyone started bringing potential energy to quickly break the 3 gen, problem would be solved. But everyone thinks potential energy sucks so. 🙄

This is something that has been discussed within the Team...it is also something that I will bring up again in the new year after the holiday period as it seems a lot of our players want the Prestige number to be hidden.

I hope this is an optional feature if implemented. Or for it to simply be hidden only in lobby and shown in endgame only like with killers. What would be the point in me grinding as a survivor and prestiging to p100 if i cant show my dedication and love for a character i worked so hard for.

When you see my p100 David, i want to show my fellow players how much this character means to me. How i am treated/perform in game honestly just depends on gameplay mechanics that can be readily adjusted if needed which i hope the next midchapter will alleviate for solo q players.

The game has lost nearly 50% of the active players within the last 4 months?

They always lose 50% of their base after the anniversary which was a couple months ago . Then it goes back up once the anniversary is near

  • Oh ill remain positive. Doesnt mean i wont criticize your playstyle and say gg afterwards then move on.

4 weeks is 28 days, as of today it's been 29 days since the chapter release. I don't think anything will change tomorrow, something is up, maybe it's until a mid chapter or something.

No it may be Thursday. I remember i was counting the days for hooked on you shards for dwight. It was released on a tuesday and i was expecting it to be shards 4 weeka later on tuesday. But it was a thursday they changed it to shards. So it may be a thursday when they do it

  • Its probably best to take that out your bio. Even then, ppl can be horrible in this game for any simple reason. Its best to just have fun, dont think too much on it.

  • Finally. Solo q will be more bearable and i dont have to suffer more.

  • I will never forget how i cleansed a noed totem while a legion walked past me because of calm spirit. Now THATS value.......even though it only worked once out of like a hundred games. Lol

  • Just include bite the bullet with your build if you wanna be stealthy after getting hit then heal in a corner. Put in distortion also in case they have nurses calling. You dont really need iron will if thats the build ur going for.

  • I believe they should make the haste effect permanent when off the hook until you do a conspicuous action. That way you at least have a chance to run the killer if they hard tunnel you.

  • @proxy_taxfraud said:

Totally legit. I'm using my teammates to survive. You are using me to survive. If you are beyond saving, why should I go down with that ship?

That also concerns me. As this is a team game, would you be willing to take a down for a teammate if u have a hook to give and they are on death hook and there is still a chance to finish gens?

How u treat ur teammates could come back to bite you. Im always altruistic but only if that one person sandbags or doesnt do anything altruistic to save someone else. Personally i dont save selfish teammates

I can generally tell, as I tend towards heavy info and aura reading. If you're basically invisible all match or doing the 'locker hopping while avoiding AFK crows' - I'm going to make it a sidequest to end you.

It's also fairly obvious when an 1800 hour Meg gets put onto a team with a 200 hour Ace and two 60 hour Dwights. That Meg will probably get hatch or gate if she survives that long.

If they are invisible throughout the match and still managed to do their objectives and you want to end them for being a good stealth player, i think thats just a skill issue on your part. Also, that's weird behavior, but its your decision of course

  • @solarjin1 said:

if the teammate been playing selfishly not helping the whole game I'm definitely snitching. other than that tho I'm not ratting

Keep in mind that if they report you with evidence, you can get a 24 hr ban based on their updated strict penalty.

  • I believe its more entitled to not expect criticisms over how you played throughout the match. Yes you can play how you want but as long as you're not being toxic or derogatory in endgame chat over the results, then its perfectly fine.

  • Never in my games have i ever ratted out my teammate when i get slugged and let go. I just go straight to gens until they put me on hook. Dont understand why ppl snitch as that is bannable.

I had a game just yesterday when a knight hard tunneled one out then camped a 3 gen with eruption etc. The nea tried to rat me but i was hiding in snowmen so she couldnt see my aura when downed then let go. But eventually she did rat me out but saved me when hooked. Knight didnt like that and hooked her. Luckily i did get hatch tho. Worse 40 minute match of my life.

  • No thanks. Im tired of feng.

which is really one of the worst ideas they could have. Like... they do know lotsa people, even if they don't celebrate xmas spend money on other stuff this month and in jan?

Welp. They better buy them now be it shards or cells for licensed characters. They gave us double XP for easier shards so now is their chance to grind for them.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

What is so incredibly broken right now that the entire game is unplayable and therefore needs to be completely shut down?

Like...they've killswitched the really broken perks. The Knight, while incredibly annoying with some of his bugs isn't unplayable or so broken that it needs to be shut down.

What else is currently active in the game that is game breaking? If you feel like things are THAT broken, you are free to take your own break until they are fixed to whatever your standards may be.

No twins. She's broken, but in a bad way that lets her be unplayable when unbinding. But nobody really plays her so she's ignored. Poor thing

so what's the difference between getting hooked a third time and a mori

There is no difference. But that's not the problem. Its the intentions. A mori causes survivors to be on their toes at the beginning of thr game. And farming will not sway them to join in if you bring it. But a flan or bloody party streamers might

  • Its 2022. Yea of course. Still doesnt change the fact that if ppl ses a mori, they will try to play more seriously so they dont get mori'd

  • The cooldown is 30 seconds. Incapacitated last 25 seconds. Really my guy!

Ok, I'm on my way to sell fake pokemon cards to small children since they have poor budgeting skill and can't tell the difference between an original and a fake card.

That sounds like their own problem that they need to overcome themselves. I'm doing nothing wrong, am I?

Last time i checked and i know i am, this is an approved rated M video game. Now if you wanna do that to children thats on you. Thats more frowned upon and illegal. Youll be charged with counterfeit merchandise alongside predatory offenses to underage civilians. But you do you.

oh and i will save this as proof if you do it. Im about to snitch if u do. Yup! Try me.

If you have 10 minutes, watch this, it summarizes most of the points made in these topics.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPir_8lyhoM&t=560s&ab_channel=MintSkull

If you don't have 10 minutes, read this instead, it focuses on ONE particular problem of these tactics, but it's one of the most sensitive ones

"I've been seeing a surprising number of posts defending this kind of practice, while not really grasping what is actually happening with it. FOMO causes an irrational shift in prioritization by directly manipulating the availability of a purchase. This shift is something that your average person is able to maintain a rational perspective regarding, such as "i don't need it that much" or "I can wait for another chance later." The people it is designed to affect, are those with any form of impaired impulse control, or poor budgeting skills. There have been notorious GDC lectures outlining very specifically how to take advantage of these people and try to get as much money as possible out of them, with FOMO being one of the key methods. It is a known business practice that very specifically targets a vulnerable demographic.

Lets say you are faced with this situation, and have other more important obligations and are unable to make the purchase. A typical mind will think "oh well" and go without, but an affected person will start trying to readjust their budget to make it work, they may borrow money or even forgo financial obligations altogether as the need to commit to the purchase or lose out on it entirely outweighs their otherwise rational budgeting and prioritization. Its actually part of gambling addictions as well, as "the next bet can be the win that offsets all my losses" even after going into debt. It is a very real and well documented psychological effect.

The worst part is that, again, it has very minimal impact on most people. For many its not about losing the ability to purchase something like an ingame cosmetic, and they may not even see that as financially reasonable as it is. The problem is that it so very specifically preys on those who are vulnerable to the tactic, who are treated as whales (individuals who spend more than the average consumer, to make up for a lack of sales elsewhere) in the process.

Its an absolute shame how much this kind of practice is not only accepted, but even defended in the industry. There can literally be people bypassing anything from holiday gifts for loved ones to financial responsibilities such as paying their bills just to sell a few more ugly sweater model meshes and textures."

"The people it is designed to affect, are those with any form of impaired impulse control, or poor budgeting skills."

That honestly sounds like their own problem that they need to overcome themselves. This is a common business practice that existed since the start of mankind and it will never go away.

  • Yes it does. More money for them, more likely to get stranger things back. Isnt that what ppl wanted in the 1st place. Lol

Yeah, funny how they made that announcement, rolled it out at a glacial crawl (so far it's only 4 survivors and 5 killers over, what, 4 months?), and proceeded to release all their new outfits with a loophole that says they never have to be available for shards. And now they're taking hot sellers out of the store and into their cycling rotation before they'd ever have to make them available with shards. Notice Feng and Felix in there? The onesies? Yeah.

I would have much rather had the old shop than the one we're moving towards. Like it's not even a question. It's not like we're headed towards the promised era where we can buy everything with shards, so why not have universal availablity?

Nah. I prefer this system more. Before this announcement, most new store cosmetics were auric cells only and rarely iri shards. I rather wait 4 weeks now for store cosmetics so i can get them for free. Exceptions are licensed and now holiday cosmetics which is fair. They gotta compensate somewhere for making more things more free

  • @Lycidas said:

Yeah, BHVR is trying all they have to artificially increase prices and sales

And some people are defending these choices smh 🤦🏻

I absolutely support it. They literally just made all other cosmetics for older characters purchasable through shards now.

  • @BarnesFlam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3285327#Comment_3285327

What if... you want to spend money but the thing you want to spend money on isn't available until 10 months later?

Will you still want to spend money by then?

I mean. There are many rift skins that are one piece only that i missed out because i started dbd late. For example david kings blue muscle shirt with "king" on it and it most likely will never be released. But its not like its the end of the world. There are other good cosmetics. Ppl need to just realize its just skins. No advantage or disadvantage of getting them.

  • You honestly shouldn't feel to defeated when you just cant down a survivor. As a killer, if i cant down u, i give u props and the interaction itself was fun for me.

But unfortunately thats not fun for everyone because to them, interactive fun chases are when u down someone in less than 10 seconds apparently. I just hope ppl dont take the game too seriously and just have fun for all parties but thats a hard thing to do since everyones definition of fun is different

  • I wonder if ppl get frustrated if holiday starbucks drinks were only available....during the holiday.

Do they just find something else to drink when its not the holiday. I know! Maybe they should just get other skins thats available thats not holiday exclusive!

  • I do find it weird that people use the excuse that ppl cant afford it now etc in order to reap the benefits to get the cosmetics for free. Its just a skin. It has no competitive play or advantage if you get it or not.

  • @FeelsBadMan said:

LMFAO u guys make a big twitter post how and I quote "all non licensed outfits will become available to purchase with shards after 4 weeks from now on" and since then literally all non licensed outfits you released have been limited-time only ones that don't become purchasable with shards at all - amazing! 🤣

Um not true. I was waiting for dwights hooked on you cosmetics to change to shards and it did. So im a happy camper for that.

  • It better be soon. Because there is supposed to be 2 hotfixes. And if only 1 comes out before the winter event next week, then the hotfix 2 wont come out until next month. They always go on holidays once event starts and dont even touch anything until January.

  • Meh. Im sure there was some medieval men back then that were shirtless like vittorio. Besides, it does give off some god of war clothing with that baldur guy with tattoos. I think thats his name.

  • I just wanna know why felix players are still on the battlefield fighting for a shirtless cosmetic....Then he gets it day 1. Just give all the men shirtless cosmetics.

That's what I mean. He doesn't look historical and the map is a little aesthetically underwhelming, to be honest. I'm talking about something that is strongly historical in aesthetics.

Regardless it is historical. Even if it doesnt meet the standards of some as its merely just an opinion. The fact remains that it still is historical where both characters and map pays homage to their timeline. And im sure vittorio will have cosmetics in the near future representing his era. They probably just made his default a hot silver fox of a man to make a good first impression to the community. Which obviously they did. And they have an explanation in his lore as to why he looks the way he does now

  • Honestly, i felt really bummed out when they made it basekit and only changed unbreakable perk to be 100% recovery. As a no mither gamer i was a bit jealous. If they ever do decide to bring it back for testing, i would hope no mither gets that benefit. If it doesnt, id be fine if they never implement base unbreakable it at all. Kinda like how no mither is one of the only perk to pick urself.

There's also the fact that the Haddie from the tomes isn't the same Haddie we have in-game.I love the lore and the multiverse but I'm a bit dissapointed we didn't get the Haddie we lore fans waited for.

I still love her regardless tho. (also BHVR we know she has an unused outfit in the files from when she was released give it to us already.)

True. And i honestly believe she couldve been a pariah. Her tome lore about her tome parents dissappearance on an island supports the theory. But they just went on and abandon that story for black vale i guess.

But honestly, not even older version haddie wouldnt be saved. There is a reason we dont have an original survivor that's old. They mist likely wpuldnt be played. But vittorio is an exception because he's hot. Even then i speculate he wont be played as much because he's a male character anyways.

Jane isn’t a small, petite female and she does well. I don’t feel it’s Haddie’s face or body type…I like that she’s thicker..I really think her cosmetics are just terrible. I bought her upon release, but I just can’t bring myself to play her until she has better cosmetics.

Jane is literally one of the least played female original survivor. Wouldve been the least if not for haddie and maybe elodie. But i acknowledge the appreciation she's getting online especially within the trans community. I do see that.

  • I will absolutely buy it. Be it shards or auric cells. Im more interested in vittorio as i will make him my secondary main. Love his design, his tattoos and lore being the 1st survivor from the distant past. Yes, he's good looking but im more interested in his design and perks as well. Cant wait to see what they will give him in the future in cosmetics. Im a sucker for medieval cosmetics.

  • No you're right. Haddie failed because she doesnt fit the small, petite female survivor like the rest. Her being heavily lore focused and introduced way b4 her debut chapter shows that most ppl in this community dont care for lore that much which is honestly a shame.

Its also why the most popular survivor, feng, only has 3 paragraphs of lore to her name for 5 years is carried only by her cute gamer profile and lots of cosmetics.

I for one personally appreciate the lore and popularity of the character which is why im a david main as he's a well rounded character both in popularity on the male side and lore. I admit that vittorio already has the looks to take him far. But i personally will make him my 2nd main not just because of his looks but by his designs, tattoos, and lore(being the 1st survivor from the ancient past).

I truly hope they dont keep doing this fan servicing but i believe its inevitable based on the community wanting it. A shame because we are missing out on lore possibilities. Im still waiting on learning more about the pariah members which hasnt been touched in so long.

  • I honestly find it funny that the most bland character lorewise is the most popular simply because of cosmetics.
