Actually fix matchmaking? ❌
Force people to go against a full toolbox prestige 100 SWF where one player has triple the amount of hours you have? ✅
The first step is to reduce lobby dodging.
How to do that?
Hide Prestige, names and profiles. Survivors don't see the Killer, Killers don't see the Survivors.
Once we reduce or limit lobby dodging, we can see how well the system does when people aren't purposefully ######### it up. It will probably still be bad, as my faith in BHVR's matchmaker is...not high, but it'll give us a better place to start.

run these two add-on's. they give 7% haste for 3 seconds+3% from base when tracking. it is little bit like mini-clown yellow bottle. you don't need 3 gen with her to beat weaker survivor teams but 3 gen is her strongest strategy.
"or using the slowdown add on?"
I don't think they like that add-on combo.
-
You could try totem defender, but that's basically just a different flavor of 3-genning.
Unfortunately, SM is good at one thing and that's defending areas.
She definitely needs a full rework, ala Freddy, in order to have any viable build diversity.

Fun being subjective does not make bad matchmaking good and skill wont fix bad matchmaking either.
As I pointed out there are a huge amount of lobbies floating in the matchmaking, increasing in range to fill them up and its not providing a good general gameplay experience. This is the message that needs to get to bHVR so they can make changes.
Hmmmm, agreed. Matchmaking needs to be better, I think step one is to reduce lobby dodging
-
@Emeal said:
Those sorts of Games are not fun, I have been there in the event too, loads of juiced up matches too.
There seems to have been a reduction in Killers because normally there is never 100% bps for Killers in the evening for me and it seems these lobbies are being dodged by Killers in their MMR range, which forces the range to open up to quickly start the trial. During this entire event I have had matches against these juiced up Survivors who play way better than what anyone would consider a fair match.
I fear the system is broken right now, you can fix it by dodging until you get normal looking Survivors and it works, its much more fun with an even match.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3477365#Comment_3477365
Points does not mean the player had Fun, Pulsar. Games are supposed to be fun & hyper fixating on increasing their skill is just an excuse for poor matching and game design. Its just whiteknighting on skill without relevant data to back up the point.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/382906/all-my-lobbies-as-killer-are-like-this
Pretty much sure ppl will say skill issue :)
They always say its a skill issue without relevant proof to back up their claim, its an excuse cause they believe skill can transcend everything and right now its just used to defend the game from critique and used to dismiss people who ask for the game to be better.
Fun is subjective.
I don't have fun stomping people, some other players do.
I merely pointed out how they did quite well under the circumstances and that, should they decide to, they could continue to improve and beat these sorts of teams.

They were all friends on steam...
Man you have such questions, it is funny.
When all my trials are like this, it is kind of boring actually.
Well, that's why I asked. I don't play on PC, so I'm afraid I simply don't know.
Well, like I said earlier, good job. Seems like you did well.
-
How do you know it's a SWF?
Judging off of points, the game wasn't a complete wash. Likewise, considering you are playing off-meta, to say the least, and that your opponents are playing meta for the most part, seems like you did quite well. Keep it up and try to learn from every match, you did well on this one.
Eventually, you'll be able to beat these guys.

It’s funny you think it’s weird when it’s about survivors perks. I agree PT nerf is dumb, so we’re Ruin and DMS nerfs.
It’s time you realize devs are destroying the game by listening to people who complain the loudest.
Half of Ruin's nerf is fine. It didn't need both.
The Devs have always made weird changes. Self-Care nerfs and Billy rework as a prime example.

What do you mean? Bamboozle for half a second and a pallet that is borderline useless even when you do get the stun? How are those weak compared to the useless ability to break a pallet from a distance without losing anything in your chase or getting free exposed after 15 or so seconds??
Free Exposed is just dumb. It's bad design.
The pallet break is extremely good. It stops survivors from vaulting.
The window block is dumb.
The pallet is pretty bad, but I could see it becoming a perk.

At the end it boils down to how (un)skilled the survivors are.
If you apply the slightest bit of macro as Killer, you'll win any pub match on Dead Dawg.

One of the most Killer-sided maps, objectively.
Doesn't mean it's fun to play on.

Except that you are touting that ghostface game as if it’s a huge win.
Context matters.
You take a weak Killer and put them in a worst-case scenario and they tie.
That's a huge sign that, at the very least, the game isn't Survivor-sided.

A 2K is, factually, a draw.

Do you have any proof of this?
bhvr have said that the system tries to find fair matches, but that it will ultimately prioritize speed.
There's just not that many players in high mmr and due to the softcap, it allows them to, ya know, find games against people way lower than them.
Add in lobby dodging, which for all intents and purposes, turns off matchmaking; and you've got an interesting matchmaker.
-
@woundcowboy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3475371#Comment_3475371
I’ll echo what someone else in here said, which is that 2k is not a win under any circumstances.
I’ll add my own two cents as well: if I sweat my brow off and only get a 2k, then that makes me feel like not playing anymore. I am not satisfied with a 2k, regardless of who I am facing. If I made mistakes, then fair enough, but DBD makes it nearly impossible to get 3-4k against good squads. In order to do that you have to play defensive by using some form of proxy camping and tunneling, which is also not fun.
So you take one of the weakest Killers (before his recent buffs) and throw him against a COMP team with no restrictions who run full meta on a map that isn't good for you...you need to have realistic expectations. You cannot reasonably expect to get a 12-hook 4K.
A 2K with 8 hooks is an astoundingly good result for that set-up. Even in one of the worst scenarios, Killers are still getting 2K's with a lot of hooks.

I dunno what is the most funny in what you say.
I don't know if you are trolling or not actually as i cannot believe that someone with thousands of hours here can genuinely believe that the game is balanced...
Also, old DH and old DS have been replaced by MFT and OTR now, those perks are nearly as strong, MFT is even stronger than old DH in many situations.
Once again, when i play soloQ, i escape 50% of the time and in my lobbies it is not rare that we get 3 escapes.
In SWF, well pretty much all trials are 3E on my side... unless the killer is tunneling and we decide to play altruistic. And my SWF is not the best at all. My previous SWF was unbeatable.
Well, you should really play killer a lot to see how unwinnable are the games against good survivors.
Win streak on Nurse and Blight... ok, bad faith here as i have said tier A or lower killer. You bring S-tier killers here... And your Oni win streak, no way it happened in the current META ;)
The Oni streak is on-going. Look up MomoSeventh, he holds both Blight and Oni. There's a Wraith who hasn't lost in over a year as well, he featured in one of Otz's new videos, iirc.
Yeah, no, OTR and MFT aren't even close to DS and DH. That's just recency bias.
I literally am a killer main. Practically all I play is Killer.

I said suicides not DC. 1 suicide (giving on hook or running at the killer to die) = the whole team dead = free 4k for the killer.
When survivors at the same skill of the killer are not throwing and actually trying to escape, they do most of the time.
So, where's your evidence beyond hearsay and anecdotal data?

They may very well be.
Or, they may not be.
High MMR certainly exists. The issue is that the MMR system isn't set-up like that. The matchmaker prioritizes speed over all else. High MMR lobbies are flukes, it's just as likely that you don't belong there and got backfilled into it.

2k only with ghost face against barely average random survivors.
The game is totally unbalanced if you do not play Spirit, Nurse, Blight.
Hens literally says the players are functionally at the same skill level.

yup 2 years old match when gen regress perks were extremely strong and where there was no MFT + Resilience combo and where flashlight saves (for exemple) actually required some skill to be performed.
For the second videos, there are a ton of really good SWFs out there, not to the level of Hens'team but still srong enough to wreck pretty much any killers.
+ you then say that in winning 200 trials in a row, climbing to the top of the MMR system, they have never faced a single killer that was able to do 2k against them ?
Meanwhile, even the best killer palyers out there cannot do 50 wins in a row anymore.
But hey, the game is balanced.
Play killer mate, really.
2 year old match with worse maps, old DH, old DS, weaker Wraith, old instant heals and medkits etc etc with a player who isn't really all that great playing against one of, if not the best, comp teams.
I agree that there are SWF's that can wreck a lot of Killers. Most people do not understand how to play macro at all. That's an issue with matchmaking more than balance though.
Yes, the matchmaker is that bad.
Momo has a 1200 winstreak on Blight.
I believe Lipy had a 200 winstreak with Oni.
Momo has a 250-ish winstreak with Oni.
Alf has a 600 game Nurse streak.
I'm sure there are more, but those are just the one's that come to mind.
I play quite a bit of Killer, as you can see. You can even watch me play and kill my way through players worse than me until you get sick.

First off, ad hominem attacks are definitely gonna show how strong your argument is.
Now, onto the actual match, we have a two year old match against a top comp team playing against an okay pub Killer player who is playing Wraith and admits he will not be playing optimally.
Yeah, you're gonna have to do better than that.
As for the other video, Hens' team is playing pubs with comp players on their roster. If you play in a competitive scrim style, you'll win 99% of your matches, as Killer or Survivor.

I thought they were really cool, even if you couldn't use any perks. That was what originally got me to buy Michael. Played him once with a Splinter, decided I liked him and bought him up while he was on sale back in 2018.

I like Dredge (besides Nightfall) but he really isn't anywhere close to S-tier.
I'd put him low B-tier or to the top of C-tier. Not bad, by any means, but definitely not one of the strongest Killers

I am not a big fan of the "fixed" hit animations.
They make me really motion sick, even just watching videos about them.
It also sucks because it seems like it ruins perfectly good and unique weapon animations, that's something we need more of, not less.
So far as I see it, it's just another unique feature that goes down the drain for the sake of consistency.

I used to do full SWF with friends who had played since the beginning with thousands of hours experience. We all used DH with voice communication. There were a lot of matches where it made no difference. Many more where it hardly mattered at all. Killers became increasingly better at baiting it out, especially the ones we played against since our SWF team consisted of such high experienced players who were always red ranked. I actually stopped using old DH several times because for me it wouldn't always work out well. It was a balanced perk that relied on skillful use in appropriate situations to get the most use out of it.
I'm genuinely not sure how you can be bad at using old DH, but I suppose some people had to be for the perk to have made it 5 years.
Like, MFT, I can get. If you don't have good pathing, it doesn't do much. If the Killer swarms the hook, not much value. If you suck at looping, not a lot of value.
But old DH was literally so versatile. You could even use it to ramp off of objects. Dodge hit, make distance, make a pallet, make a window.

It was good when it was used right like I said in my first post. Original DH was not an "I Win" button. You had to use it at the right times or you did not get benefit from it. There is way too much overreaction to just about everything that allows survivors to do something new or have some kind of an advantage against the killer.
Not even close.
DH for distance was absurdly busted and there was nothing a vast majority of Killers could do about it.
It may not have been an I-win button, but it's as ######### close as we're gonna get.

Its weird to me that as soon as 1 perk that get released is useable, everyone starts jumping and hating on it, while thats exactly how it should be. New Perks should be useable
I am not on board the nerf train, however, calling the perk mediocre is disingenuous.
The perk is very good and strong. That's why I'd like to keep it that way, as an interesting option and a break to the monotonous meta.
If anything, it could lose the Endurance. I don't think it makes much sense with the perk and considering the Buckle Up changes, I suspect we'll see it changed on the Live release of the Mid-Chapter.

Dead hard was never a problem. It was effective when used at the right time and punishing when it wasn't. Any new perk these days that gives survivors even the smallest edge in killer interaction situations is quickly seen as problematic. Uh, okay, gonna stop you there.
Original DH was a massive ######### problem. Like, one cannot overstate how much of an issue it was.
Even reworked DH was still really good. I think they nerfed it way too much, but it was really good.

39% escape rate but good SWFs wins 90% of their trials, 99% if the killer is not Blight/Nurse.
Conclusion for some ppl on the forum - the game is killer sided
Okay, i guess we have talked enough. Fact that killers cannot win against a good SWF shows the game is survivor sided.
If the survivor players are potatoes to the point they are throwing 60% of their trials, it is their problem, it has nothing to do with balance.
Where's the stats for that? Forgive me, because I see nothing.
I find it very difficult to believe SWF's win 90% of their matches.
Especially considering I'm winning 90% of mine as Killer.

39% cause survivors are terrible and there is often one, even 2 doing mistakes and throwing the game for the whole team when you play soloQ.
You should explain me why with my SWFs we are getting 3 escapes 70 to 80% of the times and we do not even try hard...
39% is still the escape rate. For everyone.
Unless you think that SWF has a 90% escape rate and Solo Q has like, 5%, it doesn't balance out.

Maybe lean into the healing under pressure aspect: "After finish healing another survivor or unhooking action inside the killers terror radius, you gain +3% haste effect until you are no longer inside the killers TR." This perk now allows you to more meaningfully take the heat off a recently healed or unhooked survivor and keep the killer busy, while also having a set of rules.
That perk is just straight up garbage lmao
It's entire existence and usefulness is predicated on the Killer not tunneling.
-
I think it could lose the Endurance status effect, just to keep the perk in one-lane, so to speak.
Also makes Buckle Up buff make more sense.

Okay?
That doesn't change anything. The escape rate was still 39% and was likely even lower in actuality. They didn't count DC's which happen often.

People aren't staying injured to "get more value" out of MFT, they are going to still heal like normal. It isn't like resilience where you get a big benefit from being injured when not being chased.
I wouldn't be so sure.
I'm definitely seeing it paired with Resi and I'm definitely seeing people just not waste time healing since healing was nerfed.

So the game is not balanced and artificially tweak the stats putting the killer against unbeatable survivors or easy survivors depending if the player has a lower or higher kill rate than 60%.
It does not change that the game is heavily survivor sided.
The game isn't heavily Survivor-sided.
The game cannot be Survivor-sided with Survivors having a measly 39% escape rate.

Alot of killers using high tier killers with high tier addon, tunneling and stack with slowdown, slug the 3rd for the 4th survivor... are those complaining about how survivors try so hard.
If I play against @Pulsar , who is try hard and tunnel me out at 5 Gens, its sure not fun for me. But at least he would not complain when other teams fight back.
I dont complain killers try hard, I just find it funny killers dont like it when survivors try equal hard on them.

For me killer isn't fun to play right now because of this one single perk. Number of times I see it a day now is getting closer and closer to DH numbers before it's last nerf. On top of that I play low tier killer since I hate nurse and blight and can feel MfT so badly. I know ppl don't think it's a op perk but it has changed my games. Before this chapter I would avg around 6 or 7 wins a night (I usually end up playing 10 over all and I play multiple killers a night. I use a random picker to pick my killer play next). Now I'm lucky to get 3 wins. Most of my games end up with me getting frustrated and stressed out. Defending myself even before the match is over. All these matches have one thing in common and that is MfT. So if the perk isn't strong why all sudden I'm getting wrost at a game where I have over 1000s hours? Did my MMR just magically go up over night where I'm getting survivors who are miles better than me? I can't help to feel it has something to do with this single perk.
Either way DBD is growing to be the most unfun game for me anymore and honestly been thinking about taking a LONG break because my killer matches aren't chill anymore and just are frustrating and stressful. Trust me I honestly don't need the stress right now. I honestly can't wait for the Texas chainsaw game to come out just so I can uninstall DBD for a while.
If DBD is stressing you out that much, I'd really encourage you to take a break.
It's not worth your mental health and you've gotta put yourself first.

So your chart is full of it quite a bit TBH. To start with, clown is still affected by it because it counteracts the slowdown a bit more than running normally. As mentioned instadown killers don't care much, nor do blight nurse and spirit.
Twins very much is affected by it, i'm not sure what you mean by that, but the extra speed definitely makes it easier to dodge victor.
Cenobite definitely cares a little because again, it makes it easier to dodge and the movement speed applies even when you are chained. The chains right now BARELY make it so you catch up to the survivor if you land a perfect chain. For example, look how hard fixated counters him.
Dredge? ######### are you on about with that one, dredge is basically an M1 killer with a "leave the loop" power. MFT allows you to "leave the loop" faster and get more distance than you normally would.
I'll give you wraith.
Trapper? Are you kidding me? Trapper is HEAVILY affected by it because his power is pretty garbage in general as it is.
MYERS? he is literally an m1 killer!?
Billy i'll give you he has instadown, but its more about curving which MFT can make harder.
Demo?!! are you nuts? MFT makes you run FASTER than demo while charging shred, whereas normally demo moves at the same speed as survivor (with that addon), this MEGA makes a difference, think back to when they nerfed the addon so he still moved slower than survivors and how terrible he was and they quickly put it back before it went live from PTB.
Ghost face is another m1 killer basically with a stealth component, but ghost face very much is still an m1 killer.
PH i'd say is arguable but seems fine.
HUNTRESS?! 103 vs 110 is HUGE when you can huge those insane rocks that she can't throw over, they become infinites without bloodlust.
Deathslinger, see huntress
Nemesis, in theory yeah, but in practice it hurts him pretty hard, try playing him sometime at high MMR.
Artist is same as dredge, her power is a "leave the loop" power, so it allows the survivor to leave the loop faster.
Knight is a "leave the loop" power
Skull merchant is a "leave the loop" power
Singularity is HEAVILY affected by it, because as it stands if you run duration, you can JUST barely catch up to them just before the duration runs out to tank a pallet stun, but with MFT you don't get enough distance, so he basically becomes an m1 killer you predrop pallets against.
Wesker i'll give you
All the bad ones i give you as well. All in all, i'd change your list to this:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BA5FPNBWBJTO/image.png
Moreever though, you did not address the main point of this thread. Which is that it is 100% free, survivors just get it, for getting hit. They are rewarded for making a mistake.
Clown is almost completely unaffected. His gameplay functions exactly the same.
Twins WANTS people to be injured. MFT encourages people to stay injured. 3% could help dodge Victor, if his hitbox wasn't the size of a semi-truck.
Pinhead isn't affected by MFT because the Chains force you to walk. MFT doesn't apply on walking, only while running.
Once again, MFT encourages people to stay injured. Dredge benefits from that via Nightfall. Dredge isn't like Knight where he simply ceases moving while at a loop and loses vision of the Survivor. He keeps moving and can clearly see the Survivor begin to move away. Not an issue.
Trapper excels at locking down areas. MFT will not help you when you run into a Trap.
Myers is an instant down Killer, not sure if you've forgotten.
Demo's Shred is more pallet break utility and for guaranteed hits at windows/vaults. In those cases, 3% will NOT matter. Resi might though.
You want to be healed against GF. He can and will sneak up on you. Even comp players don't risk it.
Not sure how Huntress ended up there, I meant to put her in the bottom tier.
Deathslinger has way more shot options than Huntress.
Ah yes, the "High MMR" response. Very good. Yeah, I've played Nemesis in scrims. He's fine against MFT. It hurts his Zombies, but ya know, if you were relying on them....that's kinda on you.
Artist can snipe. Artist also doesn't really slow down a significant amount. See Dredge response.
Knight's fine against MFT. I never use Guards to get hits, I use them to either pincer or to waste time.
SM is unaffected by MFT because she's too busy holding her 3-gen.
Larry will eat through pallets if you're just tossing them like you suggest.
Being injured as a Survivor is unavoidable. That's not a mistake. It's like saying a Killer who loses a gen made a mistake.
It's just not true.

The PT nerf is just...weird.
It definitely feels like a response to complaining about the perk from people who didn't understand it.
PT is good for me as a Killer. It means people aren't being efficient.
Also, removing the BP bonus is just dumb lol

Here's my chart. This is all in my own experience. Except for Hag, I don't know if MFT's Haste is enough to get away from a Hag trap being triggered.
Most of the Killers affected by MFT are #########. That's more an issue with the Killer than a perk, imo. ANY strong perk will adversely affect those Killers because they lack the power to deal with it.
The only remotely strong Killer that I think is majorly affected by MFT is Plague, since Survivors will almost always be Injured and if they don't cleanse, that can be difficult to deal with.
