So taking your best chance at winning is "playing like an ass"? Yikes.
I don't tunnel and camp because it's not fun for me, but I wouldn't call someone who does because they want to win a slur. That's the point of the game, to win. It's completely understandable.
That's such an immature viewpoint imo. "It's not fun for me so you're a bootie for doing it". It's the game designs fault not theirs.
That's like saying survivors are booties just because they split up on gens, it's ridiculous.
Don't know where you're getting me calling people slurs from and I'm moderately upset at the implication.
If you want to tunnel one person out at 5 gens, you are free to do so. You don't have to in pretty much any circumstance.
Play Blight with Alc Ring + C33 with 4 slowdowns and tunnel the first person off of hook. You're allowed to do it, but you're playing like an ass for no reason.

I don't have specifics, but it needs to help needs to be enough for killers to actually feel like there is real value in leaving a hooked survivor, for killers to feel like they have an extremely high chance they will actually be able to start a chase with someone else.
What would sound reasonable to you?
You've already said BBQ wasn't enough.

Some sort of tracking, and some sort of speed boost, to help the killer get in a chase with a different survivor. If BHVR wants killers to chase a different survivor, there should be some sort of basekit help to do this.
Because if BHVR refuses to help killers find other survivors to chase, then it really doesn't matter how many penalties they stack on the killers, because killers might decide to just continue camping and tunneling. Wandering around the map, looking for survivors that are hiding, is still unreliable and is often a waste of time, and giving killer penalties won't change that.
Are we talking just straight up unblockable aura-reading and how big of a speedboost
-
Yeah, probably.

normally i do agree with pulsar , but not this time , this perk is just terrible designed buddy , just go into a custom match with someone experienced a try playing a 1v1 on many maps , is not that hard to notice how much distance you are gonna lose over just breaking a pallet with a m1 killer or missing a hit barely just because of MFT.
only mobility killer powers and specific addon combinations should not be the way to counter such a strong perk like this ,
yeah lets keep a perk that hurts m1 killers even more meanwhile the S / A tier killer are gonna be just fine , what a logic.
"Remove the Endurance"
or they can just buff that to 16 seconds and remove the extra 3% movement
Respectfully, that change sucks. It's just better WGLF and the effect is bad.
Anyways, a 1v1? Really? Can't wait for people to hotdrop every pallet on the map.
No, the perk has no been impactful to me. There have been one or two Survivors who I feel have gotten good value from it, but that was easily remedied by not chasing them for the whole game. MFT doesn't do anything if you don't have anything to loop.

Those perks aren't good enough, and they aren't basekit either. BHVR has made it clear they want to give survivors basekit help, and killers should also get basekit help. Most of those aura reading aren't even reliable if the survivor is far away, because they could have easily moved far away by the time the killer gets there.
Use your gamesense.
Survivors can't move fast without leaving scratch marks lol
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3479656#Comment_3479656
BHVR could shift this game to move away from camping and tunneling, but they would need to give killers real help in finding other survivors and actually getting in close ranged chases with other survivors. If BHVR does that, then it can create real anti-tunnel and real anti-camp mechanics.
The entire game expectation for killers is just garbage, which is why camping and tunneling are often the best strategies. BHVR expects killers to just wander far away from hooked survivors, and hope they might find other survivors, and if the killer doesn’t find anyone, well it’s just too bad for the killer. And if the killer stumbles across the person they most recently hooked, and there is no other survivor in sight, then the killer is supposed to just ignore that survivor and wander around the map, hoping to find other survivors, and if the killer doesn’t find anyone, we’ll it’s just too bad for the killer.
There are such perks such as BBQ, Floods of Rage, PGTW, etc etc that either help you find Survivors or give you something worthwhile to do while you look for Survivors.
I don't have any issue finding people consistently. Crows, gens, scratchmarks and aura-reading has made Stealth an essentially dead playstyle (some Blendettes haven't caught up yet).
If you wanted to give the Killer a speed boost until they start chase or are within X meters of a Survivor, then I'd be okay with that as long as it doesn't stack with power movement speed.
-
Meh.
Remove the Endurance, it's weird and doesn't fit with the perk, and then the perk is fine imo.
Just seems like whenever either sides gets a new usable perk, people are upset. Sometimes, there is merit to it, most of the time there isn't.

Who made that original argument???? So you picked a ridiculous straw man argument, and concluded that was proof that killers shouldn’t get anti-tunneling incentives?
Someone who didn't know how to make a decent argument, evidently.
If you want more effective reasoning, here's why.
Tunneling, is for all intents and purposes, a push to remove someone from the match as quickly as possible. Taking all emotional responses out, the idea is to tilt the match in your favor ASAP. If you can get the game to become a 3v1 before 3 gens pop, you are almost guaranteed to win as Killer.
In order to properly incentivize something, the rewards need to be as good or better than what you are trying to dissuade people from doing. There is no reasonable reward that would ever be as strong as tunneling. Even if you were to give the Killer an entire extra gen as a reward, it would still be worse than tunneling. You cannot reasonable incentivize people to not tunnel.
You can, however, punish people for tunneling AFTER you adjust the games balance. If we make the 4v1 less Survivor-sided (which I don't think it's super Survivor-sided currently, especially against certain Killers, so this'll be tricky) and adjust the 3v1 to be less Killer-sided, then I think you could have something there.
That would remove both the need to tunnel and the benefits you get from tunneling.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3479542#Comment_3479542
That doesn't make any sense. You can't just say perk are "anti-tunnel" because they are strong. Those perks had absolutely zero connection to tunneling.
You created a bad hypothesis, and created a bad conclusion from your bad hypothesis.
Perhaps I'm not explaining well.
The perks aren't anti-tunnel. The original argument, iirc, was that Killers needed to tunnel to stop gens and that if only gen regression was viable, tunneling would stop.
-
I might lower the EMP range slightly and then also make it so that to cleanse another Survivor, you need to be within 2 meters of them.
I'd also revert the 10% ms debuff and instead make it so that you can't use EMP's while running.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3472878#Comment_3472878
Those perks were supposed to be anti gen rush, because they are gen regression perks.
It doesn’t even make sense to call them anti tunneling perks. They don’t give the killer any help to find a different survivor to chase, and they don’t give the killers any bonuses for chasing a different survivor.
The idea proposed was that Killers were forced to tunnel if they wanted a chance to win.
Those perks were so strong that you didn't need to tunnel in order to win. They were anti-tunnel perks due to their strength. Or, at least, that's what I thought would happen.
Didn't really work out that way.

He probably did run into such people. I'm sure if his every match could be viewed, there would be some that would look like survivor team was way more optimal and organized compared to the average survivor team performance. Thing is, that team could still be the less experienced in the game than true competitive team or that team did some crucial mistakes of some sort. More data is required before we can say for sure how things were there.
Uh, yeah.
Nobody is facing comp teams on an even remotely consistent basis unless they play in comp.
-
I don't think so.
I think he's too good at tunneling thanks to his Infection, but that can be easily remedied.
"Infection now no longer progresses until the Survivors performs a Conspicuous Action, including interacting with a Spray."
Now he doesn't become super crazy at tunneling and Survivors still can't just ignore Infection.

It's 50 50 because your next match may consist of SWF or not. Since there's indeed no tick to put in the box in SWF, you are at MM system's mercy here. Another 50 50 is whenever the SWF you got is sweaty or not.
Even still, he should have run into dozens, if not 100, SWAT SWF if your idea is correct.

Nah man, there are some very few people who do really good with the worst killers, and they really do, but that is not because the killer is in any way good or strong. Those players are either really good and most of them have 5k+ hours in the game and/or they are specialized in that killer.
If i went to a shooting range and kept practice shooting with a bad rifle, and i became really good at using it, even better than most would do with a good rifle, that would not mean the bad rifle is good. Yet the stats at that range would show that that rifle did good if they had statistics of every round shot with each rifle at the range.
Also, because its a bad rifle most people would avoid it, so my stats would count lets say 75% of the stats for that rifle.
But i get it "nerf them, buff us". I hope BHVR can see through this tho.
I see your point, but other than QoL improvements (fov slider pls), you risk making the game very Killer-favored by buffing characters.
The idea is that once you get to high MMR, you SHOULD be good with that Killer. You should have put a lot of time into them.

There's an RNG factor when it comes to SWF. It's 50 50 your opponent SWF is vaping duds laughing their butts off while playing the game in the background or 4 wannabe SWAT boys with map charts and screenshares turned on for ''full co-op'' experience. Next time you hear people complain they keep getting SWFs, at least consider the possibility of those words being true just a bit.
Evidently not.
If it's a 50/50 shot, then the guy who won 400 games with Clown won 200 games against SWAT SWF's with a bad Killer.
Either those squads are incredibly uncommon or they aren't actually good. They cannot be both
-
I don't really see any desperate need to buff Killers.

By OP I meant original post, I probably could have made that more clear my mistake.
The information was not researched or included. To me that would be an obvious inclusion to mitigate the community tribalism us-vs-them as much as you can.
4 man is still "survivor" the same way Nurse is still "killer". If you're going to include nurse for a general "killer" statement/data then you need to include 4 man SWF in a general "survivor" statement/data to represent the high end on both sides.
200 is better than most of the killer cast streaks as well. Win streaks don't point to balance but if they did this would still put killers on the losing side.
I did not personally comprise this list.
I do not know of any other Survivor streaks besides Hens', which they lost at around 200.
That still puts them below Killers like Onryo and Clown.
I merely pointed out that people don't have much interest in doing Survivor streaks because Solo, Duo and Trio streaks aren't really possible. You need to have four competent and skilled players in order to have a chance.

It's not a surprise to me at all with how MMR works and the softcap. If, in chess, a 2400 MMR player squares off against a 1600 MMR player the 2400 MMR player has about a 99.6% chance to win. If I'm extrapolating data from WoW MMR to get a vague idea about how many players at each MMR in DbD (since they're both video games with MMR and a large population) roughly 30% of DbD could be at 1600 MMR but less than 1% is at 2400.
Since there are so many more players at the beginning of the soft cap than the top any Killer, if high enough in MMR, could get a good kill streak going even if their mechanics give them a handicap. It's similar to the reason I've been saying that camping and tunneling is not necessary to get a good percentage of wins; in pub games the MMR system is just too loose to force the most effective tactics to be a necessity. A player can handicap their chances and still win a lot once they're experienced just because of how matching works. It's easier for Killers to take advantage of MMR mismatches as well since they only rely on themselves.
I don't think it's useful for balancing though as what would be more important for keeping newer and intermediate players is how do the Killers stack up at comparative skill levels. Like with the recently deceased VHS game Monsters could do well with a lot of experience but who's going to sit through a few dozen losses in a row just so they might be able to do well in the future?
But, yeah, I'm not surprised. The very top ranges of MMR (eg 2700+) probably would have to go through about 1000 games or so before they even found one game that could be a challenge (and they'd still have a chance to win that as well).
Generally speaking, the lower you go in MMR, the better Killer is. That may not be true anymore, but that's how it's always been.
I do agree that if you took the Clown at high MMR and put him up against people equal to his skill, he'd have a rough go of it, for sure.
But I think that if weak Killers can do reasonably alright at the top of the ladder, that's a good sign that the game isn't Survivor-sided. Of course, that doesn't account for ######### matchmaking putting players up against people they have zero business playing against.
-

I mean if they're delusional yeah no duh that's a given lol. Same with delusional survivor players who think the game doesn't favor them in general the heavy majority of the time (if they're good).
In the general balance though? Not really. Win streaks are not indicative of balance, especially when you're trying to generalize something like "killer" where you have Trapper, and then you have Nurse with everything in-between.
This OP and thread are also ignoring and leaving out the multiple survivor win streaks that have also been in the hundreds as well. Which to me reeks of survivor bias but that's just my opinion.
People can tank their MMR, get lucky, ect. Win streaks are interesting little trivia but not much more.
The claim of "killers can't get win streaks" was disproven, but that was a silly statement to begin with. The worst character in most game have win streaks, that doesn't make the character not weak or suffering from other issues.
Pretty sure the only recent streak that comes to mind with Survivors is Hens' streak, which I think was over 200 games like I said in my first reply.
People just aren't going for Survivor streaks because they aren't generally feasible outside of a 4-man.

DBD is :
- RNG
- Stupid strats : gen rushing, tunneling
- Unbalanced mess
- Tons of bugs, spaghetti code
This game should aim for fun and that’s it. Like playing The Sims. So yes, these stats are meaningless, especially when players are NOT having fun doesn’t matter which role. Yes, that includes survivors.

I think people put too much value on "winstreaks" for killers.
Win streaks have so little to do with the killer your playing versus the way you as a player understand and approach the game. There is a Blight with over 1k "wins", which is impressive purely from a numbers standpoint, but i would hazard a guess that person plays a ton more than most players they encounter. Their understanding of Blight specifically and the game in general is probably enough that it out strips what the majority of survivors at all levels can deal with. DBD's also a game where winning is a lot more susceptible to RNG than your own input on top of being subjective as heck.
It's interesting to see people doing extremely well as it shows that with enough dedicated time investment and skill building you can do great things, but that's about it.
It proves that either
A) Despite there being good teams, if you're good enough with a Killer, you can still win.
Or
B) The teams people claim to be getting that are "high mmr perfect swfs" are so uncommon it's not even funny.

I think "weak" killers are just very nische and some very very dedicated people find way how to utilize their power to the maximum. Vivid example: OnePumpWillie.
For clown one guy (Arinad) even wrote huge guide. Best perk: Zaichin Tactics, who would have thought.
It's just Blight/Nurse like, learn how to drive and you are top-tier speedracer. Others requre meticulous research.
Perhaps.
Obviously, Onryo has the really boring Condemned strat but I didn't think Clown had the tools to manage that.

Depends on what role you play and how you treat the game.
For me, as a very competitive Killer, the game is fine. I dislike the matchmaking, because it feeds me people that have no business playing against me, but I rarely feel like a game is unwinnable. I've heard this is different at a more casual (normal) level.
For me as a Survivor, the game is not very fun. I'm not a very good Survivor, I'm either average or below-average. Most games will see someone getting tunneled or camped out early on. Teammates are questionable and some Killers can still feel downright oppressive in the right situations.

i was playing a Game as Onryo on the Knight Map against a SwF Squad whit 4 MfT i wasnt be able to get 1 of the injured Survivors until i found a invitation to us the 1 shot Effect so i didnt have to Deal whit MfT
MfT is broken and needs to be nerfed fast Killers shouldnt get punished 4 injuring a Survivor
