it should not take 45 minutes to break a 3 gen on every map. your acting like this is every game. i am not saying 3 gens do not have problems but overall they are not that bad other then the game not being interesting for survivor.
Uh yeah, SM can force a 3-gen.
She's really the only Killer who can. There's literally nothing Survivors can do about it if she decides that's what she wants.
Very good, coordinated groups CAN beat that strategy. It's not infallible. The issue is convincing those groups that spending 45 minutes in a single DBD match is worth their time.
It's an ego battle at that point and everyone knows it's not worth it.

I wasn’t around during that time with release Legion, but it really seemed like no one will ever beat Legion in terms of how much the playerbase hated a killer.
I was.
Skull Merchant is hated more. She's been around longer at this point too.
You cannot even play a SM game because people will DC as soon as they see you. Usually, people would try to play it out against an OG Legion if they weren't moonwalking oe using Franks

All lobbies at high MMR are like this. There are many SWFs but not only. You can also face 4 really good survivors.
When i soloQ as a survivor, it is the same, killers cannot do much to be honest.
2 posts above is a game as survivor soloQ. The killer did 1 or 2 hooks only, i do not remember.
So if I post screenshots that makes it true?
Oh no! Two BNPS's and the Survivors still lost. Game must be Killer-sided.
You cannot prove anything from screenshots.

Average players can get better. And should get better. If they don't then that's their problem. This nonsense is what's killing the balance of the game. You don't balance the game around people that suck. Gen speed for example should be balanced around efficient players who do them, not survivors who never touch a gen.
Hypothetically, let's do that. Who should be in charge of that balancing?
If we extend gen time to say, 120 seconds, would that be sufficient?
Now the VAST majority of players CANNOT win a match and are getting stomped every game.
Congrats, you've made DBD into a game nobody wants to play. Bad idea.

The only problem I have with this is as killer (or survivor for any matter) you play to win.
Of course you can play another killer for fun, but overall you play to win. If Wraith is strong, why do I never face him as survivor? And I recently played him for a daily and he is objectively weak.
He has one "Finding" power, not a chase power, not a generator power, not an aura power, just a find survivor power.
That's a very naive way of looking at it.
Wraith's power is used to find Survivors. It's used to secure early and easy hits. It can be used in chase to get an extended lunge. It can be used in chase to bodyblock resources like pallets and windows. It can be used with add-ons to absolutely shred pallets.
Calling it a useless power is a sign that you haven't really mastered it just yet.

She's a horrible design for a Killer.

MFT is better than 1.6.0 DH.
DH gave you a distance boost to reach a single pallet, then you were exhausted and could not use it again to reach another pallet. MFT gives you a constant 3% haste that will allow you to reach multiple pallets in a single chase.
As said before, old DH was visually impressive and frustrating for the killer. Visually, MFT does nothing impressive, you just see a survivor running faster.
But MFT transform some semi unsafe tiles into pretty safe tiles. Also, MFT adds new viable choke points in many tiles and jungle gyms.
It is completely busted. Do the maths and see for yourself.
Delusional take.
That's completely recency bias talking.

For that last point, I meant more their character concepts and story, not their mechanics. They're both much better inclusions into this horror hall of fame than people give them credit for; Trickster is pretty much the best horror story this game's come up with period, and Skull Merchant's core is interesting and novel enough to more than justify her place in the game.
Mechanically, they're both in trickier spots, SM more so. I do, obviously, stand by her being able to do more than 3-gen, still.
I found SM's lore to be, quite frankly, worse than fanfiction and almost completely nonsensical.

Skull Merchant is in fact capable of doing more than stalling by defending 3-gens, people just don't want to put in the time to figure her out and, separately, are incredibly easily swayed by overall perception.
She's also not the only killer who can 3-gen to a problematic degree. She's part of the problem, but it doesn't solely revolve around her.
While I'm at it, the two killers who get the most flak for seemingly not feeling like they belong in DBD - Skull Merchant and Trickster - are two of their best original creations who deserve their place in the game the most.
Trickster I've warmed up to.
The game would be better without SM. No Killer has ever been this hated, not even original Legion.

@UnavailableName said:
MFT + Resilience new META has made my survivor's games really easy and well, if you are a decent looper, MFT adds a ton of new choke points that arenot viable without it.
Semi-safe tiles become safe tiles if you know where to place your survivor. Also, after a stun or a vault, i can reach loops i would not be able to reach without it, the killer loosing its bloodlust if it is breaking the pallet...
Well, MFT is busted in the good hands and extend chases far too much, way more than the old DH.
Which old DH?
-
@UnavailableName said:
Even my soloQ lobbies, as survivor, are the same 😂
Wesker could not win here... all chases were so long... and it was not a skill issue, it is just how the game is designed...
The man isn't running any gen perks.
The Survivor Team is vaguely meta.
The only reason he should win is if the MM ######### up big time and he was WAY better than you guys.
-
oh boy I'm sure this will go well just like the other threads like this
-
I do not believe the two are comparable.
I would not be opposed to seeing MFT lose its Endurance proc and I would be equally unopposed to seeing Bloodlust II and III be removed.

I think Wraith is fine as is.
He's pretty strong in the current meta.

@Malkhrim said:
The Singularity has the WORST power design in the history of the game, for real. Not one of the worse, but the single worst one. Sure, it was a great, original idea, but not so good execution. And I don't say that because he is weak, he can be strong if played well, but it takes so much to learn him and to make his power even descent that it's just not worth your time. He has a clunky power that usually has to be used THREE times in each survivor to finally do anything, which is just teleport him behind a survivor while STILL giving them a headstart. After that, he is an M1 killer with a temporary power up.
Freddy's original power was removed from the game for being frustrating and unfun when it was actually much less frustrating and more fun than the Singularity. The Nemesis was complained about when he released because his power needed to hit people twice to do anything. The Singularity needs to do it THREE TIMES, it doesn't even do immediate damage and it resets with each hook. All of that not counting the complications of having to position quickly switch to biopods, move your camera fast, and the multiple places where line of sight can easily be avoided due to the amount of objects in each map. The Singularity is just not worth the time it takes to learn him or the effort to get value from his power.
Skull Merchant tho

OK.
I haven't really seen calls to nerf Wesker, besides adjusting his ability to tunnel. I have seen people want some variety, which is completely fair.

@Blueberry said:

By that definition like 90% of matches would be deemed tunneling.
I feel like also 90% of people wouldn't consider that tunneling. Tunneling typically implies some variation depending on the person of focusing just one person and ignoring others, neither of which would be applicable in that scenario.
It's your definition though so that's fair and that's what I was asking for.
Yeah, it'd probably be a high percentage of matches.
Like I said, it's not really your fault if that's the case.

I see what you’re saying. So would you still call it soft tunneling if someone just happened to get hooked twice in a row if we hypothetically assume it was completely unintentional and that survivor just happened to run into the killer again?
Yeah.
It's like if you see the whole Survivor team around hook, obviously you're gonna stay there. Are you camping? Sure, you totally are, but you've got a reason.
If a Survivor runs into you and just so happens to be hooked twice, it's still tunneling, but you'd be throwing to NOT hook them.
-
To me, it's focusing one Survivor out of the game.
You can soft tunnel or hard tunnel.
Soft tunneling is a more relaxed approach where you aren't necessarily looking to hook someone three times in a row. I do this a lot. I'll hook someone twice quickly and complete the tunnel if I feel I've lost pressure. It can also be focusing one or two people out, but hooking others in-between whilst continuing to pressure the Survivor you want out.
Hard tunneling is just getting someone out ASAP. Unhooked, chased, downed and then out of the match. Nothing in-between.
-
Unbased SM player.
Anyways, can't say I hate any perk besides Boil Over

Can't wait for the SM players to complain about not getting to play against real people

Slow the game down, just a little bit.

I play everyone except Trickster, Billy, Nurse, Hag, Twins and Dull Merchant.
Trickster is unplayable on Console.
Nurse makes me motion sick.
Hag is not my style of Killer.
Billy isn't fun anymore.
Twins are agonizing.
Dull Merchant needs to be removed.
-
I'd just like for his tunneling ability to be reduced, other than that I think he's fine.
Ultimately, it's because of BHVR.
Prior to Wesker we had Dredge and Sadako. Unique Killers, sure, but neither of them are super strong or really fun. Dredge in particular can be an accessibility nightmare.
After Wesker we had Knight, who is unique, again, but boring to play and even worse to face.
Then we had Dull Merchant, who has managed to become the most hated Killer in existence. I tried for a daily with her today and most people will DC outright rather than chance a match with that pathetic excuse for a Killer.
Now we have Singularity who is strong. But he's clunky to play and he requires a LOT of effort.

It sucks. I'm sick of Wesker too, but I get why his pick rate is astronomical. They've released one killer that is fun to play and has a high skill cap in the last 5 or 6 chapters.
Knight? Literal AI killer. Skull Merchant? Press button to deploy a drone. Singularity? M1 killer with Fire Up. Dredge? Noob stomper. Sadako? M1 killer.
The devs have, for whatever reason, moved away from making even moderately mechanically demanding killers. Wesker is the one killer they put out in the last year and a half with any real depth.
Wesker doesn't need nerfs. They need to get back to designing killers that are actually fun to play with deep mechanics. This isn't meant as a slight to console players, but it really feels like they are trying to design killer kits solely with an analog stick in mind. No mechanical input is built into these killers beyond basic M1 stuff. It's boring as all get out.
Look at what they did in 2019-2020: Spirit, Plague, Pyramid Head, Blight. Compare those kits to what we're getting now. We've gone from "killer has a ranged attack, carves trails in the ground that inflict a status effect, puts you on a special hook, etc" to "killer deploys a drone by pressing a button and all power effects from then on are passive". Killers are being designed to do so. much. less.
You definitely cannot play SM.
I had a daily and figured why not go for it, had three games where people DC'd instantly upon seeing me.
I cannot condone it or encourage people to do it, but I get why they would do that

There are more factors than just a DH nerf to consider.
Killers received multiple impactful basekit changes. Survivors lost DH and DS in a single patch.
Likewise, this was the start of the Eruption, CoB and Overcharge meta.

I think believing all of them are 100% legit is a little naïve. But no one would truly know except the streak holder, who won't out themselves for obvious reasons.

Again, the kill/win rates have to be taken in context with the pickrates. A tiny cadre of specialists who are really good with a particular killer posting similar numbers to a much better killer with multitudes more users isn't a sign of the weaker killer's health.
I'd like to see a situation where you could choose any killer and at least a have loose approximation of the experience you'd get with any other killer.
Obvs you can't bring all killers into total line (especially not in a world there Nurse exists), but killer balance could be worlds better.
And yes, this might also mean kneecapping the entire S tier.
According to Peanits in a thread a day or two ago, all Killers have about the same pickrate iirc.

Like I said, you don't need to even be on the game so how much they already played the game doesn't really matter.
You're also assuming complete reset, they could always just drop their MMR some, not all the way, which would still make an impact.
Just saying its possible and not unheard of for people to fake records for clout.
Devotion could possibly be a clue, but afaik no one checked that and that also means they were not playing off stream at all.
Someone could bring up devotion and they could just say "oh yeah I played a few matches off stream on a different killer, so the streak still stands".
Again, we just have no way to know for sure. Now I'm sure there's legit ones in there, but there could also be fakes.
Sure, it's something to consider but unless someone cares enough to do the work, there's not much of a point to just talking about it.
Yeah, it could happen but we just don't know.

I don't think the goal should be to adjust killers to be in line with different tiers of players (in terms of skill), but to bring them more in line with each other in terms of power.
Having killers vary so wildly in their viability isn't good game design, and it's not good for players.
That's not to say there shouldn't be any variance, but currently for your your average player, using a D tier vs. an A/S tier killer is almost like playing a completely different game.
Bring the killers into some semblance of a power baseline and then balance the game overall. I can't think of many games where you can juice or handicap yourself so much based solely on character choice/preference.
I mean, maybe so.
But you have to take into consideration that these Killers do seem to be doing well across all MMRs.
I'm sure some QoL and small buffs wouldn't hurt, addons passes as well. But you can't make Wraith or Trapper on par with Wesker.

Loss farm off stream?
Unless they leave their stream running with the game up throughout the entire streak, we have no way to know if they aren't farming losses off stream so when they "resume" their supposed streak their MMR has been massively lowered.
Even then you can play the menu footage on loop to game that system.
You don't even have to actively play the game, just boot up a match and go afk. You can even set it up to do it automatically while you sleep or go about your day.
At best we have their "word" but that's not saying much. I'd like to believe they're all legit but there's been many cases across the gaming scene where supposed records where manipulated in some way to be easier/longer than would be otherwise.
You'd have to lose the same amount of games as you won, if not more.
You really think someone who streams DBD for 8 hours is gonna spend another 6-8 hours de-ranking?
Even if they were, we could literally tell via Devotion level.

That sounds like a fundamental problem with the design of the game that needs to be addressed. You need to look at, why do "average" survivors do so poorly against killers most of time? There are probably a number of factors but these are the things that i "notice" when i play against or with bad survivors (and/or my friends with 20 hours).
- They are too scared to work on generators when the killer is "nearby" but totally occupied.
- They tend to hide from the killer even though the killer knows they are there instead of running to a safe loop
- They are bad at looping
- Anything that isn't a trapper power gives them a hard time because they don't know how to deal with each individual unique killer.
- They are afraid to be injured
- They spend time doing things that aren't useful, cleansing dull totems, or looting from chests, or healing against a legion.
- When playing solo, it is nearly impossible to coordinate with their team.
- Camping and tunneling are extremely effective against them.
Now lets look at high level play and why low-tier killers tend to struggle against them:
- Loops can simply be too powerful, shack into cow tree into jungle gym etc.
- Good survivors know the power of shift+w
- They don't waste time doing useless objectives, and spend almost all their time on gens, or doing something useful.
- They know how to deal with camping
- They have the perks to deal with tunneling, and the looping skills to keep the match going.
- They are not afraid to be injured
- Even while playing solo, everyone generally knows what they should be doing, so the lack of communication doesn't hurt them as badly
Now ignoring SWF for a minute, as well as nurse and blight (with dumb addons) because that's a whole different beast.
There are a number of changes that can be done, that would actually IMPROVE both the high level killer and low level survivor experience at the same time.
- Some loops are simply too strong, lets nerf some of them, Why does shack window need to spawn into a long wall jungle gym window. You aren't going to hurt the low level players by doing this, because they aren't abusing these structures and spawns to begin with, they are busy predropping the pallet on the wrong side and getting hit anyway.
- Camping should get removed (not in the way they are doing it). High tier survivors already know how to deal with it, and it is boring.
- Tunneling should get removed (preferably with the same mechanic as camping). High tier survivors tend to have the perks and loop knowledge to deal with it, so it won't hurt high level play.
- God pallets that are not mindgameable need to go, again, low skill survivors aren't using these pallets properly anyway, so removing or changing them isn't going to hurt them, and they are in low MMR so they aren't dealing with complex mind-games from killers.
This is what i don't understand about this community, anytime anyone suggests making any change to make high level play better, they immediately go "what about the 'average' survivors". The point is, you can NERF some of these extremely powerful loop setups that can spawn, and you aren't going to hurt the average survivors, because they aren't abusing those loops to begin with.
I post this video all the time, but it demonstrates my point exactly perfectly:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1p42KtZOCw&t=203s
Yes, it is about TF2, but the premise and idea remains the same regardless of the game. I timestamped the section around where the maker of the video talks about the B.A.S.E. Jumper item in TF2 and when it was nerfed and how it affected high level play and improved it, without hurting the low level play. But the whole video is great and worth a watch.
The very next example talks about the sniper class, where a change was made that nerfed an item in high level play, but actually buffed it in low level play, because the change was made to make the item have multiple uses. The item specifically is made to counter spies. In high level play, you ain't gonna see a spy anyway, but in pubs you'll see them all the time where sniper has a harder time. But they made it so you couldn't "overheal" the sniper when using that item, so they would be countered by OTHER snipers because overhealing would make it so they couldn't die to a headshot.
DBD can totally make these types of changes, improving both high level and low level play at the same time. But for some reason this community is so afraid of change they cry out anytime anything is suggested.
Do you actually trust the Devs to put that amount of finesse into it?
I'm for everything except the God pallet thing. There's really no need.
