zero effort, except you lose a down and potentially your pop and/or pain res. against decent survivors this means the match is lost for weaker killers since they can't get their downs that easily.
Which matters less because there's a maximum of two people on gens, which as anyone who has played Solo Q can tell you, is not a winning strategy unless the Killer is VASTLY worse.
-
@NerfDHalready said:
it's total bs and needs a change asap.
what's the counterplay even if you realize someone is lurking around? leave your injured target to chase a healthy person? because unless you are huntress or knight you can't chase/pressure multiple people.
The counterplay is to realize that gen progress is massively slowed and that you can pressure half the team with zero effort.
-
How are you losing two gens in 30 seconds when there's only two people on gens?
I actually quite like FTP Buckle Up because it takes people off of gens and gets me some really easy pressure. It's also a great anti-tunnel tool, which adds some spice to games.

I would love that but I reckon that might cause performance issues. It would be nice though, if we had an indoor map and had some kind of audible storm on the outside. In general I wish they were a bit more adventurous when it comes to lighting.
The event void looks awesome and I think this could make for a very authentic and unique map. Something entirely different and way more pleasent to look at then Borgo (because identifying 50 shades of red is not really fun).
Ooo, that's a good idea.

Recently, it's been getting more and more difficult to enjoy this game and to look over the glaring issues. The Console port of DBD has shown that the game is extremely poorly optimized, and performance will continue to get worse unless BHVR addresses the issues now.
I fear that soon, the game will become unplayable for us on current-gen Consoles. Resident Evil broke the game for a month, and it still hasn't fully recovered. What this shows is that the issue is built into the game itself, and will likely continue to worsen if it is not resolved. Likewise, we are seeing the return of bugs long thought patched, which makes me suspect that the entire code is starting to crumble under the weight of the game. I hope BHVR takes the time to do this correctly and fixes their game. If they do not, I fear we will soon lose the ability to play it at all.
Here are some videos demonstrating my points, please note that these were all taken PRIOR to the RE patch in June of 2021. These issues have been plaguing Console players since the game was ported in 2017. I doubt there will ever be an official confirmation from BHVR, but it is important that we do not let these issues go silently. The only thing we can do is continue to talk and spread awareness about them.

I distinctly recall it performing well both on PC and console so it's your memory versus mine and I'm going to have to go with mine. The sounds were likely reduced for competitive reasons since sound is a major mechanic that the killer relies on.
You just need to go look at old footage, I suppose.
There's a giant thread on here with a ton of old footage like that

It's not optimization, it's base performance. It's a good strategy because it means most anyone can play it. It's like saying World of Warcraft isn't optimized. It is, but the developers settled for performance that could accommodate most specs. They've already had rainy maps (old Red Forest notably had it and I miss it dearly), they just need to amp that up and add flash effects for lightning.
And Red Forest was notoriously bad on Console for how it performed.
Add in an intense Killer like Nemesis and the game barely chugged along.

I didn't know we had so many game engine optimization experts and seizure subject matter experts in these forums. I should come here to have my papers written.
Look, when a game runs at 20 FPS and looks like a PS2 game, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there's optimization issues.
Adding intense weather effects would only worsen that.

I don't see anyone upset. People are just stating that the game most likely couldn't handle it and that's why it's no a feature. Yes, if it would be possible it would be good.
Yeah, I mean, it WOULD be really cool, no doubt about it.
It's just that the game is almost certainly unable to handle it.

it's funny that you think DBD is that well optimized.
An extra Nemesis Zombie was too much, intense weather effects are definitely gonna be horrific.

Also, if you could include video that'd be helpful. I'm sure all the extra effects, coupled with them being quite animated, can cause lag and a lot of motion sickness.

Like I said, make it an option. 🤷🏻♂️ You want to hide it? Go ahead. Others don’t care to, and that should be their choice.
No, because that does nothing.
If you hide it, you've clearly got something to hide and will be dodged.

Or…. How about we make it an option?
A lot of people don’t want prestiges hidden. It’s not even a dodge thing. I grinded to p100. Why would I want it hidden?
I think the amount some of y’all on here complain about “being dodged” is dramatic. Being p100 isn’t super uncommon or scary anymore. Everybody has got high prestige characters now. I’ve got p100’s in nearly every single killer match, if not more than 1.
No thanks. Give a different reward for P100, like a skin.
I haven't played Survivor since Alien, but prior to that, I'd still get dodged several times prior to finding a Killer.

Because it is super hard to hook a survivor in a area that you had a chase with no pallets left and leave them in a deadzone where two hits is kinda easy to pull off.
Tunneling is the last grasp tactic of a bad killer. It's just that simple. I saw a Dredge tunnel and his excuse for the tunnel to the survivor he tunneled was "I broke chase because why chase the good survivor when I can tunnel the weaker survivor."
Funny thing is, the other survivor was someone I know, and a better looper than me who he abandoned chasing. It's just the ability to get someone down when they are in a dead zone and haven't had a moment to look around.
I never see good killer players do it.
Ehhhhh, yeah that last part isn't true.
Good Killer players don't tunnel when they don't need to. Tunneling is in a unique position. It's something that's absurdly strong at low levels and usually a crutch, painfully bad at mid levels and nearly required (depending on the Killer and Survivor skill) at high levels.
-
We've cycled back to the 2018 arguments.
"Don't want to be mori'd after a single hook? Just don't go down 4head."
-
Gotta have it.

sounds like nemesis with 6 zombies drones. that is way too random.
what kind of interaction are you expecting in chases when vsing killer? greed loop and pallet break? I do not think every loop is an immediate die interaction. she has area denial parts that incentives linking pallets together to delay lock-on stacks and extend chase but the area denial tool is not as clear cut as say walking into a trapper trap or triggering a hag phantasm. there is some room for outplay and chase extension to some degree.
It's the same as Knight.
You either leave the loop or die. You can't realistically loop her when her power is up.
Like I said immediately after, I don't think her design is salvageable, I just threw something out.

"Leave loop or die". It is as if there were no other killers where you could make the same summary.
How would you rework it then?
I don't know. I'd probably try to make the Drones into mobile area denial. Like, they slowly move in a straight line. There's just really not a good way to salvage such a bad design.
And yes, there are plenty of Killers who have the same leave loop or die interaction. It's still not good design.

Why does the mention of slugging always go directly to the four-man Slug and wait till everybody bleeds out argument?
I can't even say that in the few times I have been slugged as Survivor, even though I found it more enjoyable then hooking, I have ever encountered a killer that waits for the bleed out after getting us all down that way.
I'm not denying that this has happened to people but surely it's not so common that this is the go to idea of slugging. This occurrence is surely more rare than hook camping and personally I've scarcely seen that.
Ironically, I usually see it with stronger Killers, like Blight and Nurse rather than with weaker Killers.
I think it's both because it's easier to do with those Killers and because the people doing it clearly had a bad experience and are taking it out on others.

@pseudechis said:

?? So you want to remove bleed out so that people just lie on the ground forever? That would make 4 man slugging legit?
What you've written here doesn't make much sense as stated.
On a more serious note don't confuse your personal predefined idea of what constitutes "normal" play as some form of factual bar set for all players. We've had this discussion before, more than once, and you've still not learned anything.
Neither have you learned anythjng, though I refrained from bringing up that you've continued to defend toxic and abhorrent behavior by staying, "they're just roleplaying."
I have very little interest in speaking to someone like that and I see nothing to gain by doing so.

Having a tool to counter something doesn't necessarily invalidate that something as "normal" gameplay.
Slugging for pressure is normal gameplay.
4 man slugging is not until bleedout is not.

I dont know if we should call slugging abnormal gameplay. Breaking it down survivors are still able to play a normal match involving stealth, chases, saves and even death. The only normal aspect removed is the limitations of chances before elimination with oppurtunities only increasing with good teamwork.
Clearly, slugging everyone isn't normal since BHVR spent the time and resources to develop a system specifically aimed at countering that.
Was it implemented? No, but the intent was there.
-
Well, you're participating in normal gameplay, so there's that.
You get more BP as well.

That's because you played with survivors who don't know what they're doing.
It's a coin flip in this game. You either get baby survivors who are easy prey, or you get bully squads who can loop you for hours and then teabag you at the exit gate while running around in your face knowing that they will still get away.
No, it's not a coin flip. Most Survivors are bad and are easily beaten by anyone with a modicum of experience and a basic understanding of the game.
Unfortunately, I didn't get teams that were close to good often enough to keep my interest. Hence why I went and played a bit of comp to see if that was a viable alternative.
-
Sure, I like to be challenged. That's basically my entire reason that I stopped playing DBD though.
Killer was way too easy 99% of the time and there wasn't any consistent challenge. That's why I explored comp.
Survivor was the opposite, but the same result. Solo Q was horrendous with little challenge. It was either stomp or be stomped and that's not entertaining gameplay to me.

Imagine the forum outrage these days if players could heal up on the other side of a pallet stun, be mori'd after one hook, or be dribbled to that hook in the first place. We'd see pages upon pages on true infinites, permanently sabo'd hooks, old dark cow tree, and original Ruin.
I kinda want to see that actually. Legacy DBD mode when?!? 🤪😂
Please, have mercy.
I've already lived through that once.

@RpTheHotrod said:
Playing killer is stressful and frustrating, especially with how easy you can bully a killer. They have also made weak m1 killers even weaker making it mandatory to run heavy regression perks. Last few patches have made it even easier for survivors, and now with mft (and the newly ridiculously buffed background player), a lot of the killer options just aren't viable anymore. Game has turned the survivors into the power role, so there are less and less killers. That's why it's almost always 100% for killers. Since there's far less killers playing, survivor queues are going up. People don't like queues, so if they wait too long they stop playing.
Long story short, they made the most frustrating and stressful aspect of the game even more frustrating and stressful for a good number of killers (ie m1 killers with no chase power).
Some of the comments here make me think that new players wouldn't have survived old DBD, respectfully.

I think all Frosty Eyes cosmetics are missing.

I don't know. I don't think fun and balance are mutually exclusive. And I think the DbD community is 1000% more competitive than it will ever admit. You can throw a dart at the forums on given day and land on a post of someone essentially saying they're "not competitive", and then within two sentences they'll complain about various things that make DbD not competitive. I don't know if people just don't really think about their opinions all that much as they relate to DbD or what.
I don't think they are necessarily mutually exclusive either, but I'm starting to consider what we've lost in the pursuit of balance.
-
I feel that a 90 second gen is completely fair. Like you've pointed out, situations where gens can take minutes or < 60 seconds should be ironed out.
Although, as an aside, I wonder how much of the fun of this game has been lost in our endless pursuit of balance.

Agree to disagree.
We know a nerf is coming. I can only hope it the right one.
I believe I've been on the record in saying that it shouldn't have both effects. The Endurance doesn't fit the perk and should be removed.
For the record, Endurance after pick-up is a terrible standalone effect. Hence why you never see Buckle Up without FTP.

Why do you always try to spin things to make up a narrative?
Pain res, Pop and corrupt aren't "consistent" nor "Game winning".
they are all extremely inconsistent , you have Pain res with only 4 uses and some of those uses can be wasted on a non-over 25% gen.
Pop has 12 uses max (Realistically 8 because after 8 hooks someones dead and the game is closing up) + the charge removal it provides is anywhere from + 0.3 to + 25~ (Granted you find a progressed gen to kick)
Corrupt literally deactivates itself after a down and becomes a dead slot, and the survivor even if corrupt is up for the full 180s can still do any of the 4 other gens.
They all fall under the "Small basekit buff worth using" rule.
They are literally game winning perks if you're a decent player and that's fine.
I really do wonder how much more biased you can be.
