What if it didn't then?
What if dead survivors came back as ghosts with the ability to do all their normal things except exit gates at 50% efficiency. No collision and taking a hit will banish them for ~30s.
But to balance things out a bit, getting hooked inflicts one stack of "serious wound" that reduces repair speed by 10% which can stack.
It's a nice idea, but ultimately, that's almost an entirely new game.

The whole post is a complete disagreement with you.
Most players tunnel because it's the most efficient, easiest and most difficult to counter way to victory.
In order to convince them to not tunnel, you need to give them an alternative of comparable strength.
I wasn't sure if you're post was saying convince YOU not to tunnel or convince the understood you not to tunnel.

Why does it happen and why aren't they taking any action? If your post is so big then why aren't they doing anything about it? It feels so hopeless to communicate with the devs for real. It's like screaming into the void it does nothing.
It supposedly happens due to a CPU bottleneck.
My own, admittedly limited, view is that the game really wasn't built to be what it is now. They've had coding issues in the past, I suspect this is why we see the exact same bugs cyclically.
Due to this, most machines just have to brute force the game. Higher powered PC's and the new gen consoles are okay for now, but older PC's and consoles suffer.
As for why they don't do anything, they either can't or don't want to, meaning they don't see the benefits

It's probably a problem. It has been 7 years and they still don't show who queued as SWF in the post game lobby. Why hide it if it's not a problem?
Because they probably see all the toxicity and blame that gets thrown around.
You lost to a team? Must've been a 4-man meta godsquad SWF at top mmr.
-
Can't believe someone is arguing that pallet stuns are the same as old Eruption.
-
There can only be a punishment for tunneling.
There is NOTHING the Devs can implement that will be stronger than removing a player from the game in the first two minutes. Therefore, there is no way to encourage spreading pressure. Even if you made PR basekit and 25% for every Survivor not hooked twice in a row, people would still tunnel because removing someone from the match is STILL STRONGER
-
Not really.
they've probably got to sort through all the reports about tunneling and t-bagging to even find your legitimate report.

It is not. I been even more effective by doing none of it. So search for a better reason. I do not need to use that to get all 4 if I really want to. So no it is not effective it is just the prove, that you will be a sore loser cause you can not play fair.
Being able to win without it != not being effective

It's completely true. Unless you can provide some evidence that the game launched with SWF or mentioned SWF anywhere back in EA. The game was literally advertised as a 1v1v1v1v1 with no communication and stuck to that for a while. Aside from that, it's also mind numbingly true if you rub two brain cells together and take a hard look at the games foundational mechanics and current mechanics. It's really not rocket science to look at the dozens of perks that are useless because of SWF's, both on the Survs side but more importantly on the Killers side.
Read the comments, they mention streams from prior to the game's release and show a clear indication of a design plan.

You mean after SWF was released they said it was always intended? Oh wow, that totally clears that up lmao The game sold in 2016 as a niche asymmetrical horror game that was advertised as being a 1v1v1v1v1 where cooperation wasn't needed on the Surv side but encouraged, with a heavy focus on having limited information. I should know, that's when I bought the game. Yea that totally sounds like a game that had SWF in mind while developing it, totally backed up by all the Surv Aura perks that SWF have as basekit simply by being in a SWF as well as all the Killer perks that SWF completely negate lmao
SWF was a mechanic change to sell more copies and thus it did. Nothing more, nothing less.
They held a vote before the game released.
People wanted KYF, so they put in KYF prior to the game releasing with SWF following closely after.

If the game dies because people can't bully others than maybe its for the best.
I rather have a game where everyone gets along than one where there's constant fighting and hate.
Banning people from playing with their friends is a sure-fire way of making sure nobody gets to play.

You act like Solos wouldn't dodge a SWF as well.
I'm not going to be your Gen Jocky while you go harass the killer trying to get epic power struggle plays. I'm glad Killer bled you all to death.
You act like that wouldn't kill the game and therefore negatively impact EVERYONE.

SWF and Streamers feel like the root of a lot of toxicity to this game.
Perks like Head-on, OOO, and Flashlights in general have been considered toxic things because these people abuse these features. In Solo, something like a head-on save should be considered a impressive feat and a very rewarding part of the game. In reality, your reward will be getting hard-tunneled and hit on hook by the Killer because they faced an infamous head-on squad some point in their life and think you're whole team is a SWF now.
Again, I beg you BHVR, just tell Killer if they're facing Solo/SWF so both Killer/Solo-Q doesn't have to suffer anymore.
SWF made their bed, they can go face the killers who are more than happy to face them with their Lightborn.
That just encourages lobby shopping and would make Solo worse.

@Roco45 said:
OFC SWF is a problem, the game was not built with SWF in mind and the foundation game mechanics that the entire game has been built on for almost a decade, completely contradicts SWF. Even worse, it's completely destroyed this community since Killers hate Survs because they often verse SWF, SWF's troll the Killer and anyone who wants to play as Surv with one friend or in SoloQ is heavily punished for it. Soloq is literally unplayable, it's an alt tab simulator. SWF literally null and voids dozens of Surv perks that were intended for years to be based around extremely limited information; which is also why there's so many ######### Killer Aura reading perks *oop the killer farted, show Surv auras for 15 seconds in a 40m radius*.
It's also hilarious that anytime a mechanic is proposed to deal with SWF people cry "But I shouldn't be punished for playing with friends", like babe, every video game is constructed around game mechanics and new ones need to be developed to alter SWF play to balance the game overall in a healthy way. There's a few ways to do that, that BHVR could implement:
- Limit the amount of perks available to SWF, to limit them all running the same meta perks in ultra coordination.
- Increase gen time and amount to do depending on SWF party.
- Rework the perk tree to change perk % values depending on how many players are in a party.
- Add optional voice comms to SoloQ
As a player since 2016, I can boot up the game in 2023 as Killer to either get ultra sweaty SWF players or SoloQ which I release all my frustration out from my prior SFW games and so I torment them. If I want to play as Surv I can get my friends together and we get easy games based off farming the Killer or I can play SoloQ and be alt tabbed playing a different game because I have no interest in playing against tunnelers/campers/bots (Surv Bots as when I play SoloQ almost every single game their is a DC).
The game is in a triangular down spiral and has been for years: SWF>Killer>Surv. Three separate groups within this games community when only two of those groups were intended from the start.
Not sure wheee you're getting, "the game was not built with SWF in mind" because that's not true.

I disagree 100% and I think a lot of other people who play killer would also disagree. I'm not saying that your individual experience is wrong, but my guess (based on your post history) is that you're probably a top 1% performer on the killer side and so you can handle a coordinated SWF better than most. Based on my experience (casual killer and survivor player), SWF's a FAR more difficult to beat than solo Q teams. If BHVR would release the data we wouldn't need to have these speculative arguments, but we all know they never will and I suspect I know the reason why they won't.
Unless you think Solo Q has a genuinely abysmal escape rate (like, sub 20%) there's not a way SWF's are extremely OP for the average player based on the stats we DO have.
Maybe you're right and I'm good, I don't know, but average players are still just average even when grouped up. It doesn't magically make you better, just gives you info, what you do with it is still up to the player

I don't agree with the last sentence.
If you take away the Discord from SWF, they will probably struggle against certain killers as I mentioned above (Hag, Trapper, Singu, etc...)
If you take SWF's that push the game to its limit, they are perfectly capable of doing that without Discord.

I'm not gonna lie, that is the LONGEST time I've waited for a support team to answer me at least anything, in any other games.
Usually in other games I was waiting 10 hours --- 3 days.
A simple: "We are investigating your request." - Will be enough for me. For real.
Right now I feel like they are ignoring the request, or simply just threw it into the trash can.
As I was saying: Either way - not good. Takes way too long without any answer. Awful customer service!
They'll get to it after they throw out all the reports for tunneling and t-bagging.
-
Not really, honestly.
The VAST majority of SWF's are just as bad as Solo Q, you just have a better time because your with friends.
The ones that exploit it to its fullest potential? They could likely win even as four solo's. I see that as more of a matchmaking issue

It's now an anti tunneling perk, works pretty well with OTR and DH, or basekit BT. It's not #########, it's just not overly busted
But just like killer players when they stop playing a killer cuz they read the word nerf (e.g., Spirit), survivors stop playing their busted perks the moment they're not stupidly broken anymore
Dead Hard is bad. It relies on the Killer's ping. Making a perk only usable with another perk is bad design. Making the perk only usable with a perk that is completely beholden to the Killers ping is egregious.
Basekit BT and MFT will afford you little distance. It's also, once again, dependant on the killer.

Has the developers ever responded or took action in regards of the situation?
The issues of the first Resident Evil Chapter were, eventually, remedied in most ways.
However, performance continues to suffer as a whole and the promise of 60 FPS seems to be dead. There have been no substantial updates to it and the new graphics mode has not made a difference.

There was a forum post this summer about killer win streaks, you can find that information here:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/383032/highest-win-streaks-on-each-killer
Top streaks being blight, twins, nurse, and clown. Your trapper request is at 148 ish. And this list was posted during the MfT meta.
I'm not sure that 'have you seen how they play' is the gotcha you seem to think it is here either. The two primary factors here are player skill and play style. You can choose not to play a certain way, but that doesn't mean everyone will do that. That's not the game's fault you aren't playing to win, especially if there's a play style that is essentially unbeatable in the right hands (i.e. tunneling like crazy).
That seems to indicate that either that strategy is too strong, or that character is, or possibly both. Making it easier to 4k like you seem to be pushing for is only buffing these strategies, when all actual metrics are saying that something is actually overtuned here.
I've been summoned

I can't stand how some people will not just shamelessly exploit bugs, but then act as if they are compelled to do so just because they can. Like "what do you expect me to do?" Can people not even process the idea of having access to an unfair advantage, and simply not using it? I bet not, it's some sort of mental defect some people share.
I mean, how gratifying is it to "win" that way?

Whats ridiculous about that statement?
If you boil the core gameplay down, gens are nothing else for the killer than what hook stages are for survivors.
Survivors don´t waste time on totems, because there simply are no strong hex (or boon) perks right now. Even more, teammates will complain about anyone who does totems instead of gens, since we have the HUD.
Maybe killers are still complaining about gens, because in most matches 2 or 3 gens are finished by the time the killer gets the first hook.
I would love to see some stats to back that claim up.
I doubt BHVR will release those though.

@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3601949#Comment_3601949
Also, we agree on one thing, the game goes too fast for both sides. This game is a giant snowball fast. Killers run a ton of gen slowdown perks and try and down someone as fast as possible. If that chases lasts more than 30 seconds, they just lost 3 gens. And then at the same time people complain about "the 3 gen" but like, by design the killer is extremely weak that early and 3 gens are the only way killers can play and not tunnel/camp.
On top of that, killers can just remove someone from the game as fast as possible, meaning that survivors these days have no room to make any mistakes, because if they do, someone gets removed, and now they get to sit around a near guaranteed loss while the killer slowly cleans up the game.
This leads to one side basically beating the other in the first 90 seconds of a match, and then the losing side now has to slog it out for another 8 minutes while they lose. This is why people ragequit, kill themselves on hook, and DC so quickly. Because each match is decided in the first minute or 2.
To add onto that, this is also why both sides come out swinging, so to speak.
You have zero idea what the other players are gonna do, so you have to prepare for the absolute worst-case scenario. If you come out playing soft and the other side isn't, the game's over.

I see threads almost daily complaining about Survivors not healing and doing gens instead.
Putting aside the absolute ridiculousness of your statement (seriously, Survivors cannot tunnel someone out) and looking at your basal argument...half of these things are throwing and the other half are already complained about.
Survivors do not usually have time to do totems or chests, nor do they generally have time to waste healing after the self-healing nerfs in the current meta. Just like Killers usually do not have time to one-hook everyone, then two-hook everyone and then three-hook everyone.
Speaking of which, I find it endlessly amusing that the cycle continues. I watched this exact thing play out five years ago after the first round of self-healing nerfs. Killers complained about Survivors healing too quickly, BHVR obliged them and nerfed healing. Survivors didn't waste time healing and just, to quote you, tunneled gens...you know, their only objective. Killers complained that gens went too quickly and the cycle continues to this day.
