Feedback is useful. But the devs are allowed to try things out and see how it goes. People acting like they are offended because BHVR didn't run a change past them just comes across as entitled. It's their game.
Some things shouldn't even make it to the PTB. Those tiles are horrific.

They definitely didn't.
Global cooldown snuck in post-PTB and is not cool. It's longer than his pre-patch cooldown

Tomb Raider has horror elements, and Lara is a survivor. She fits well, in my opinion.
ehhhhhhhhhh, that's kinda like saying Metal Gear has horror elements so we should have Snake.
Like yeah, it does, for sure. But that's not really what it's about.
Not trying to knock you personally or anything, it's totally fine that you're excited, just saying.
-
Not really.
I think she's too much departed from horror, for my taste, and I simply don't want to support that monetarily.
-
I agree, 9 hooks is more impressive than 3 Kills against a good team.

What about 120 sec cast time, one hook state for up to three dead Survivors to be brought back on death hook, and one generator turns off? Too far?
No.
Even if it were 120 second cast and instant-sacrifice, that'd still be busted.
If it's going to bring someone back, it needs to be one and done. Removes two hook states from the caster, if caster survives, Broken for the rest of the Trial.
Dead player comes back with BT/Haste for standard unhook time at a location furthest from the Killer. They start on death hook.
That's the only way it could be close to balanced, but even then, that's an exceedingly strong perk.

How many games did you play on killer? I'm not joking, you really need to play in the order of hundreds. And that's for each killer (the MMR is not shared). It might be than even somebody like you hasn't played for long enough to reach it (maybe spend a bit less time posting on this forum /s )
If what's datamined is correct, one starts at 800 and gains +20 for a 4K, so to reach 2000 one would need 4K for 60 games in a row. But then, there's also a multiplier if the game is too short, and presumably one too if survivors DC, so 60 matches is really optimistic.
And finally, even if you reach top MMR you still might not realize you are because at most hours the matchmaking is unable to find enough high-MMR survivor SWFs, and panics when you sit in the queue for more than 10 sec
Literally thousands of hours.
Correct, there's not a lot of equal opponents, ergo, I don't find a lot of good matches. It's why I started dabbling in comp.
-
@Saiph said:
Well if you keep playing and slaughtering survivors, your MMR will eventually raise to the point where you'll get challenged.
The problem is, it takes an absurd amount of games to do so. From experience I'd say around ~100 games are needed, which, if you play rarely like me, can take literal years to reach.
The first time I played Nurse, I won 46 games in a row, all 4Ks, and despite me being pretty new. Now after about 2 years, I'm facing tryhard SWFs from time to time who send me to a map and make me lose, this didn't happen before. I still feel like the majority of games are slaughterfests and boring overall, but there are actually good SWFs who will give you a challenge.
Can confirm, that's also not true.
Source: Completely anecdotal evidence of me never finding people both equal to my skill and equal to my mindset. I'm not gonna go all out and slaughter people just memeing.
I used to get one good match a week when I was playing a lot.

Which is why he's top 3 killer, right? Because this glaring weakness doesn't affect him at all.
Not every Killer needs to be Nurse or Billy.
We are allowed to have variety.
-
Maybe if it had an extremely harsh condition.
Like, two hook states and Broken for the rest of the Trial if you can survive the exchange.
-
Vecna A-tier and Wraith B-tier, other than that it's fine.

What about a middle ground, if its a self protective action it doesn't count but if its an action that affects other survivors it only takes a portion of your timers
Trapper (Disarming Bear Traps disables anti-tunnel) 10s a trap
Hag (Wiping away Traps disables anti-tunnel) 10s a trap
Pig (Removing RBT's is now Conspicuous) No
Plague (Cleansing is now Conspicuous) No
Demogorgon (Removing Portal is now Conspicuous) 10s a portal
Twins (Kicking Victor is now Conspicuous, also crushing him) No
Nemesis (Removing T-Virus is conspicuous) No
Pinhead (Solving Box is Conspicuous) 15s lost to solve the box
Artist (Removing Crows disables anti-tunnel) No
Onryo (Removing Condemned now disables anti-tunnel) No
Dredge (Locking lockers disables anti-tunnel) 5s a lock
Wesker (Removing Ouroboros disables anti-tunnel) No (on self) (small amount of time on others)
Skull Merchant (Disabling Drones removes anti-tunnel) 8s a drone
Singularity (Using an EMP removes anti-tunnel) 10s per use
Xenomorph (Picking up a Turret removes anti-tunnel) No
Unknown (Interacting with a Hallucination disables anti-tunnel) 10s a hallucination
Vecna (Interacting with a chest or item disables anti-tunnel) No
Some of these actions done excessively are game changing and being able to do them while "safe" is a pain to deal with so what if they were only able to be done in moderation safely. Im not 100% on how long eat timer should lower by for each action but it does make a bit of sense. Just not straight up losing all protection because you need to disarm a trap to escape shack ect
OP is a hardliner, so they won't go for that more fair idea.
There's still some powers that affect the team in there, but I'm on mobile rn.

"not any reason to"
apart from the fact that survivor abuses anti tunnelling protection to do a risky / dangerous secondary objective that's supposed to stall the game but isn't because that person is doing the only available objective, thus optimizing the time of his team which is doing gens.
and tunnelling them isn't really working out bc they have those perks up and you're not pressuring the rest of the team that is doing all the gens freely uncontested, meaning you just have to give up box.
same goes for a bunch of other killers with secondary objectives.
there's not really an actual reason to rush to complete secondary objective ASAP against any killer, even pig, and still deserve to have antitunnelling up.
the only feasible excuse is that people can suck at the game and not make correct call, losing their protection, but at this point, they need to learn.
Okay, let me explain this.
Pinhead is a macro Killer. This means that his individual chase can be weak at times, but he has a power/ability to make up for it, one that affects multiple Survivors at once.
If a Survivor with DS or OTR is doing the Box, you can chase them, or you can let them be. If you choose to chase, you can down them. When you down them, you initiate a Chain Hunt automatically, without picking them up. This means there are literally zero negatives, not only do you not need to pick, but you also get massive pressure by having a slug and a Chain Hunt up at the same time.
Your comment about Pig Boxes tells me quite a bit and confirms what I had suspected. Pig's Head Traps do not need to disable DS, OTR and other perks. That is a ludicrously biased and short-sighted idea. You don't need to give Pig any more excuses to camp Boxes and force boring playstyles.
You will also be massively buffing all of these Killers:
Trapper (Disarming Bear Traps disables anti-tunnel)
Hag (Wiping away Traps disables anti-tunnel)
Pig (Removing RBT's is now Conspicuous)
Plague (Cleansing is now Conspicuous)
Demogorgon (Removing Portal is now Conspicuous)
Twins (Kicking Victor is now Conspicuous, also crushing him)
Nemesis (Removing T-Virus is conspicuous)
Pinhead (Solving Box is Conspicuous)
Artist (Removing Crows disables anti-tunnel)
Onryo (Removing Condemned now disables anti-tunnel)
Dredge (Locking lockers disables anti-tunnel)
Wesker (Removing Ouroboros disables anti-tunnel)
Skull Merchant (Disabling Drones removes anti-tunnel)
Singularity (Using an EMP removes anti-tunnel)
Xenomorph (Picking up a Turret removes anti-tunnel)
Unknown (Interacting with a Hallucination disables anti-tunnel)
Vecna (Interacting with a chest or item disables anti-tunnel)
Surely, you can see how unbalanced this is going to be. All this does is encourage boring and bad playstyles.
-
Let's not. Not really any reason to, Pinhead is fine except for his FoV bug

Ignoring comp completely is far dumber. Considering it shows what killers are like against equally skilled survivors. Simply put if you think Huntress is overpowered in any form, the comp scene proves it’s a skill issue. That’s all.
Ghostface 4K's in comp, therefore anyone who loses with Ghostface is having a skill issue.
Terrible argument, surely you can do better.

She's one of the most popular Killers and her KR is middle of the pack, which is to be expected from a free Killer that is fairly difficult to learn, both by having a crosshair-less projectile and by being 110%.

Bringing up comp is smart though. If you’ve ever watched Huntress played at comp level they almost ALWAYS lose. And very badly I might add. I’m talking two hooks by endgame. Therefore she has counterplay but you have to be smart enough to know it.
I highly encourage there very few matches of her being used in comp on YouTube and watch as they miss 20+ hatchets a game
Completely irrelevant to 99.9% of players.
Balancing around comp is an extremely dumb move. "Ah yes, let's balance around 200 players whilst screwing over the other 59,999,800 players, surely that will go well"

I mean it would be interesting to see but just an unnecessary headache from the pov of the devs I guess.
If we stay with the wesker example who had a high dc rate cause of his overuse, how many threads would pop up in this and other forums pointing out the high dc rate and how many ppl would demand immidiate nerfs even though these numbers arent representative. There are ofc people in the community that know what these numbers mean and what they dont but at least as many that will just use stuff like this for the next big " us vs them" discussion.
So from the point of the devs: why bother with that if not necessary
Because it's a part of the average match.
Also, on that point, why even bother to communicate in the first place? People are just gonna use it as ammunition against them, no matter what they say.
-
@SweetbutaPsycho said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3758154#Comment_3758154
I mean I just dont see how this would ever be possible. As this forum and many endgame chats clearly show, the DBD community is a very emitionally loaded one with both sided being of the opinion that a lot of things especially on their side goes wrong which then in turn leads to many ppl suiciding or dcing cause they are fed up.
People DC maybe because they had a bad match before this one, they dont like the map, they get the same map 4 times in a row, their map offering gets neutralised, the killer runs lethal and finds them instantly, they get teabagged, they get clicked at, they get sandbagged by a teammate, their teammate blocks them with a palette, survivor gets palette saved, they get hooked in the basement, etc. etc.... you could probaly continue this list far longer.
How do you want to separate these people that DC cause of personal preference or cause they personally dont like killer, map, gameplay from those who actually DC because they think they get rolled to hard or the killer/ survivors are too strong? You cant exactly send them a survey on why they dced especially since dcing is oficially not approved by the devs.
If you include data like this it would get things nerfed that are totally fine. For example I still remember the time after wesker came out. Most people agreed that he was fun and balanced but he was so overused that people started complaining in this forum and dcing on mass just cause they didnt want to play against him anymore. Following your logic this would get wesker nerfed even though he was perfectly fine and it was just personal preference that people found the matches boring and dced cause of that.
I
I said nothing except that I think we should be able to see those stats.
Simply removing games that have DC's in them is, not fine, but understandable for balancing purposes. Like you said, it's hard to determine intent, unless it's SM lmao
That being clairified, simply put those stats next to the others when we get a stat dump. "Here's the KR/ER without DC's and here it is with DC's included"

No, matches with less than 5 players should NOT be considered the same as normal matches. Whether I'm nice to the others or not, the kills and escapes don't correctly show how strong anything is.
But the matches happen, do they not? Regardless of whether or not they affect the strength of things, we should be able to see them because they are a part of the DBD experience.
A DC after the Gates are open removes the match from being counted.
A DC while getting mori'd removes the match.
We need to be able to see stats for both.

In All fairness, alot of DCes are just from ppl being salty they didn't have a better start of the trial. I recently had a game as Wraith where I had 2 DCes from who I'm assuming was a 2 man SWF within 30 seconds of the match starting. Didn't even get to hook anyone before they dipped out. Should the game really be balanced around THEM or anyone else who DCes as soon as they get found first?
Maybe not, but shouldn't those other players in the match be counted? Does their experience not matter?
Perhaps you're a nice Killer and felt bad for them, maybe you let them get some BP and let them go, I don't know. A lot of other players would take early DC's as a way to an easy victory.
Those matches still happen, they still affect the players within them. I don't think just completely discarding them is the way anymore.

@Pulsar Also figure you'd be interested friend as the most vocal SM detractor. 😁
Given the stacks are permanent, it strikes me that though SM might be mostly just an M1 killer, she comes across as a slow burn trap killer, where the effect isn't immediate, but as players slowly rack up stack through the game, she can suddenly get a big power spike.
With this rework there is significantly more effort for Skully to get her tags and make good on them, less cognative load on survivors to handle her at loops (especially with haste and hindered no longer there, you only have to account for your own position and the drones scan lines), but across the board there is also a lot more counter play and interactivity for SM here.
Watched the video and read the summary.
Like with most things regarding this Killer, this has the potential to either be fine or be really bad.
Very helpful, I know, but I can't really say more without seeing it play.
-
@Neaxolotl said:
Those who can't stay in a match doesn't deserves to be represented in statistics, the game might as well not exist
I feel like that's not really true.
It's still an average game. We should have stats with and without DC's.
I don't like how the OP said it, but I've long felt that we should be able to see the stats with DC's included. Just saying, "those matches don't count" is silly because they still count for MMR, BP and they happen and affect those players within them.
-
So, uh, other than "I said so" what's the reasoning here?

Well is she overpowered now? No, not even close.
Is she unhealthy now? Also no.
If she isn’t unhealthy and she’s not overpowered then I don’t see anything wrong with the changes. There are of course killers who need buffs more but I’ve yet to see a good reason why they should be reverted. Open to changing my mind though if I hear a good reason.
I think giving her 7 hatchets was a mistake for two reasons.
One is because of Survivor effective counterplay. It was hard but you felt like you COULD dodge some hatchets, at least enough that she'd have to reload prior to the change. Now, though, you don't have that anymore. Even if she misses a Hatchet and downs someone else, then comes for you, she's still got three hatchets instead of one.
This feels bad to play against, because it feels like your good play doesn't matter, we see this with Trickster as well. You can dodge ten knives, but that doesn't really matter in the chase.
And the second reason is that it's a band-aid fix for bad locker placement. This affects both her and Dredge. Instead of actually fixing locker spawns, they decided to just give her more hatchets

The point is, BHVR is obviously never seeing tunneling as a "miserable" or anything, and the chances are they aren't even thinking it is that common, results in literally no fix coming
The boringnes of tunneling has been stated repeatedly, even from killers too, but BHVR literally has no interest in ACTUALLY "fixing" this problem
Which is unfortunate since both sides agree that the game would be better off if there wasn't tunneling.

Usually when people say "killer is ez mode" someone just asks them to play killer, pass the winnings of the baby pool and then see how easy they have it when they go against competent survivors.
For some reason, none of them came back with a winning streak.
Killer is definitely not close to the hardest mode.
I would've agreed in 2020, but nowadays it's pretty much just as easy as SWF.

Not that I want to tell you how to do anything, but have you thought aboout going a little easier on your opponents to create a more fun experience?
Dont get me wrong, I also run into people that try to win really hard often. But if oone sees, that the survivor side is alreadyx struggeling, one does not have to stomp them.
You yourself are most of the time in favour of creating a fun experience for all people involved. If you consistently win with 2+ gens remaining, do you think the other side had a good experience?
Oh yes! I don't try most of the time. I only really try if I either know the people I'm playing or I kinda suspect that they are also trying.

Mine was from 2020 as well roughly a 68% kill rate. Yes it was pre mmr. I went pre mmr, because you were referencing pre mmr. If you want to only talk post mmr then we’re back at the original point of your phrasing being misleading since post mmr kill rates have been roughly the same. You brought up how they used to be much lower which is why I went there.

Kill rates have been drastically higher in the past. What you’re saying is not true.
tbh, now I'm curious.
I found this one from late 2020 I think. This would've been just prior to MMR, iirc. Rank system was tighter than it used to be, but I'm still distrustful of anything using Ranks prior to 2020. For two reasons.
One, the game is so different that I'm not sure it's a good comparison, both in players attitude and in gameplay.
And two, because the system was easier to game back then and there was no Crossplay. DDoS'ing and stuff was RAMPANT on Console

You’re saying never been better instead of haven’t changed. That’s misleading phrasing. By that rational I could also say kill rates have never been lower than now. By the way you’re phrasing it that would still make that statement just as valid as yours but it would also be misleading.
Except they have? By a percentage that matters as well. That would be a lie since we have record of them being lower.
You are arguing semantics and your example doesn't track. We are functionally at the highest KR that we have record of, what I said is true.
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3755704#Comment_3755704
Right so .06% isn’t super substantial but my point is that it’s misleading people by stating kill rates have never been better when that is in fact not true. Even if it’s not a statistically large percentage, it’s in the opposite direction, not even .06% higher.
More accurate if we wanted to not use a small percentage change would be to say, “kill rates haven’t changed much”.If we took someone who had never played DBD and put that phrase and your phrase side by side they would each paint a different picture for them of the game by the phrasing.
Since we agree that .06% isn't meaningful, as far as we know, KR has never been better.
That we know of. I suspect it was probably higher during Eruption, but no stats for that.
-
@Blueberry said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3755659#Comment_3755659
Last kill stat average across the board we received from the devs was a 58.5% kill rate. That stat you linked from two years ago being 61.3%. That would mean the kill rate has in fact gone down, contrary to what you’re saying. I’d also argue even the 58.5 is inflated a bit from killers like SM that are artificially significantly higher from people removing themselves so much.
So by the data it would say this is not in fact the best kill rates have ever been.
IIrc, they stopped doing the High MMR KR and just started doing Survival rate, which is different since it's different roles.
Not sure why it's so blurry, but this is for all MMR's. We don't know the high MMR KR for new stats, iirc. A .06% difference isn't significant enough to say it went down or up.
Also, only two Killers are even below 55% KR, which would be Billy (who has gotten changes) and Doctor, who has gotten buffed.
-
No, I'm afraid not.
Even going back two years, we see the same idea. I'm sorry that it doesn't fit your narrative.

What tunnelers are just waiting at hook like that, and don't get body blocked by the unhooker or anything? And you understand that hitting them off hook gives them a sprint burst which they wouldn't get if the killer was just waiting out normal base BT? So how does it do nothing?
It may surprise you to learn that many Killers have powers that give them a massive advantage in chase, this is by design. However, these chase powers can also be used to deal with bodyblockers and make it harder for the freshly unhooked person to escape, Sprint Burst from hook or not.
Killers are also faster than Survivors, making bodyblocking difficult depending on location.
Likewise, getting rid of BT and OTR, as well as any perks like Second Wind is certainly worth a minor speed boost.
Sometimes even the threat of tunneling is enough to force people to adopt a passive playstyle.

There is no more skewed stats in gaming than this. The amount of matches survivors throw for no reason, because they're stupid solos, or because they're overly altruistic SWFs, makes these numbers completely inaccurate.
They are accurate.
Whether you want to believe it or not, those are the average matches. You can't balance for a perfect world scenario where every Survivor is Ayrun or JRM. That would be silly.
Most Survivors aren't that good, and as such, you get stats like this.
