Why was Jill mogging in that picture? Is she based???

They do need to cool it with the changes. The fact that it takes months or even years for simple numbers tweaks is insane. I don't understand how games like DotA 2 can basically rework the entire game each year and do numbers tweaks in DAYS when needed while often reworking entire characters every few weeks.
They should start with an "operation health" type update where they cool it with new stuff and just fix some old stuff, then if it goes well maybe only release 3 chapters a year and the 4th one is a health update.
To be fair, it sounds like BHVR is a wonderful company to work for. No crunch, reasonable hours etc etc
I imagine that DOTA's team is either significantly larger or is not afforded the same luxuries.

Its not good even if they moved quickly but as you said BHVR is so slow. They are the ones who said "you won't have to wait a year for SM changes" and then it turns out we have to wait 10 months. Like wooo we get an extra 2 months! This is precisely why i have stopped buying content until they stop doing this policy.
I stopped playing entirely, honestly.
Certain events have made me lose faith in the company, but I still enjoy the community, hence why I'm here.
Ultimately, I think DBD is about to crack under its own bloat. Unless BHVR massively changes, there's no way that the current content schedule and update schedule is sustainable. We have, what, 300 perks? Maybe 25-30 of which are good on either side? Tons of Killers stuck in the backlog that need major updates.

You guys need to stop just nerfing things to be completely useless and "revisit it later" that is not how you balance games.
I mean, it's not a terrible strategy…if BHVR moved at any rate faster than a glacier.
Myers changes took four years and they amounted to some small number changes. Twins "rework" got completely scrapped because it was so bad after many years of cooking.
"Make sure it isn't an issue and revisit it" is fine…if the revisiting is relatively quick.
-
I kinda hate her design already, but this is just usual BHVR face magic.
Need I remind everyone of Jill's diabolical face.

yes, but it's not that you can't do other things while the totem is lit...
You really can't.
You have to assume it's DH. if you don't, by the time it procs, it's ACTUALLY too late

Not from my perspective. That's only the first totem, and if it's Thrill you break, you no longer have to worry about it.
I feel like most of y'all are either playing dumb with this perk, or you're trying to protect the mega casuals who can't even process doing gens, let alone totems.
I don't play anymore, but I know the game enough to know that 47 seconds to (maybe) remove a perk is insane.

I feel like the gen kick meta was the first time killers across the board felt "strong." I acknowledge that the gen kick meta was super unhealthy for the game, but it was the first time killers went from being mostly on the weaker side to powerhouses almost overnight
The gen kick meta was the first time Killers like Trapper were stronger than competitive 4-man SWF's.
It was the beginning of the end for the casual player.

I dunno I think it's fine right now. Both sides. I just think BHVR has made decisions that have led Killers to play in an unfun way more often. Unlike a lot of people I don't need to win to have fun.
When I last played, Survivor was miserable and Killer lacked any real challenge, until you got an increasingly hard to find good team.

I would argue that the game was still survivor sided during 2019-2022, just not as survivor sided as it was during 2016-2019. While killers started getting their fair shake of the tree during 2019-2022, they didnt really become "strong" as we know them now untill late 2021 to early 2022. Remember, it took multiple revisions of nerfs to perks like DS and DH to finally get them in a state where they weren't overwhelmingly powerful
Then again, I acknowledge this is my own subjective opinion2019-2022 was where most of the egregiously OP stuff was removed.
True instant heals, old DS, old BNP's, instant blinds (kinda), busted maps, etc etc. It's also when a lot of Killers started trending towards a more competitive mindset.

I think, having played in all three versions?
I would rather the horror themed game be balanced to Killer-sided. It feels weird if the Game has a Survivor sided bias, like it's scooby-doo, not a horror experience.
You have to remember that it's a game, it is not intended to be reflective of real-life.
It's supposed to be fun for both sides.

You should have been here for the first 6.5 years of the games life, when it was undisputedly survivor sided. It got so bad that survivor cue times were 15-20 minutes during the tail end of that period. Only in recent years has the pendulum swung to the other
Eh.
The game was Survivor-sided from 2016-2019.
It was pretty even from late 2019-2022.
Post-2022 has been very Killer-sided.

thrill is not a problem. Survivors just crying that they need to do secondary objectives instead of gen rushing...
I'd say, to make survivors stop crying, to reduce from 14% to 12%... It's acceptable like that.
47 seconds a totem is insane from any reasonable perspective.

Two weeks for a number change lmao

When is BugFix 2?
-
I'm starting to genuinely miss old DBD maps…
-
I feel like 47 seconds to cleanse a single totem is a bit much, no?
For those of us that remember original Undying, this is like Undying guaranteeing that you need to cleanse 3.5 totems.
I wouldn't mind a buff to ToTH, it's one of many bad perks, but this feels overdone.
-
I played quite a bit of Singularity back when he came out.
He's definitely difficult, but he seems more rewarding now. A lot of his strength comes from knowing DBD as a whole. Gotta know where high traffic spots are on the map, gotta know weird angles and sightlines, etc etc

She's certainly not my favorite design. Feels like a waste to have her be a pirate.

True about Doctor
I'm afraid they are going to screw up Freddy with the new rework. They already nerfed Myers ffs

I'm still mad about of what they did to Skull Merchant, Trickster, Sadako and Freddy. So much time, resources and work wasted on them. It's unnecessary.
SM and I have a history, I won't comment.
Trickster changes were bad, Sadako changes were bad and Freddy changes made him stronger, but he lost his uniqueness.
The Doctor rework is the last one I remember being completely positive. Wraith cube wasn't a rework but it was still good.
-
it's impressive how BHVR fails to rework Killers into something better.
-
Laurie
Meg
Bill
Those used to be the big three characters to watch the Shrine for or to level up to P3. DS and OoO were crazy, Adrenaline and SB were really really good (and QQ was underrated) and Bill had UB and BT.

Happy to know you're doing well, my friend!
I take it you didn't play the recent Halloween event, then? I'll be honest, it was easily the most fun I've had with this game since the days of Old DBD. And you know me, my friend; that is saying something.
Hopefully you'll chime in here more often! There is a lot to discuss.
I did not have the opportunity to play it.
I've not played since just prior to Dracula's release, I was very hyped for him. Shame.
I am very glad to hear that there's been an event to your liking, it did seem pretty fun, all things considered.

Yeah, pretty sure 2016-2018 were Survivor years.
2019-2021 were fairly balanced overall.
2022-2024 seem to be the Killer years.

It's extremely underwhelming. 8 years of waiting, and he only receives number tweaks, which could be done AGES AGO.
Another sad case like Twins I guess…
Twins are hamstrung by poor design, as they have been from the get-go.
Myers has no such limitations, to me, this feels like an afterthought change

Yeah, funding people who are very upfront about their desire to harm queer people doesn't mean he's not bigoted. He just outsources his bigotry to other people, so they can do the harm.
I don't really care if companies want to work with people like Cawthon. But I'm not interested in watching BHVR white knight for the queer community and then throw those principles in the trash when someone offers them enough money.
My feelings summed up more eloquently than I am currently capable of doing.

Fun fact, when I started playing DBD, I had been playing online multiplayer games that didn't have a crouching ability, and I didn't even know what t-bagging was! I can, of course, only speak from my own personal experience, but the reason it annoyed me is because it was purposeful BM, not because of what it represents, and that continues to this day. Whenever I see someone t-bagging, my first thought is that it's BM, and not that it represents SH + SA.
The same cannot be said for humping. When I see that, it's all I can think about, and it's an action that makes me deeply uncomfortable. Again, I can only speak from my own experiences, but comparing my experiences between the two one brings on a much more severe emotional reaction, and it isn't the t-bagging.
Hitting on hook is considered non-consensual touching in a scenario where the victim is powerless to stop it
Entirely correct, but we are not using that definition. There's nothing sexual in nature about it, inherently or explicitly, and again the same simply cannot be said for humping. Looking at DBD's animations, the same could even be argued for t-bagging, because the crouching animation is so different to how it originated (even F13 had a more realistic animation for t-bagging, DBD's crouching and most other games' crouching is just so different that it doesn't actually click in my brain). Being hit on hook is violence, but it is not sexual violence, which is the difference here. Humping, to me, has those connections, those connotations, and doesn't annoy me, it actively, physically repulses me.
There's BMing, which is used to annoy someone, which I am totally fine with. This is a video game, I am able to stop playing the video game, go outside, and touch some grass. I am not chronically online enough to stake my health over a DBD match. But this doesn't feel (to me, who is drawing from my own experiences, speaking for myself, in my honest opinion) like BM, it feels like something worse, especially when it happens. I can't laugh it off like I can being hit on hook, hard tunneled, tbagged, clicked, pointed, etc. It makes me feel physically repulsed.
There's a difference, too, between horror having sexual undertones and this. There's a complete and massive difference between sexual themes for artistic merit and effect, and this.
At the end of the day, it shouldn't be bannable, and I completely understand that there's nothing that can be done about it. But at the very least, I can come to a niche internet forum, and complain about it.
This is a reasonable and logical take and I can't find any holes in it, so props to you.

@GoodBoyKaru said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3774087#Comment_3774087
No, actually, nowhere near. The BM did not fall out of a coconut tree and exists within the context of everything that comes before it - most noteably, there are no sexual connotations behind being hit on hook (tbagging is another matter, but considering that it's being done over the ground and not another person, and it has evolved from its contemporary roots to have taken on a much more basic meaning in wider gaming communities, I'd argue that it has been watered down enough to not count either). Humping is not only cringe but must be taken in context, like how tbagging used to be seen. Critically, humping is always done over a downed survivor, and there is unfortunately nothing that can be done by that survivor to prevent it. I don't believe I need to go into detail about the actions it has connotations to, but they are much more prevalent than in other forms of BM found (again, tbagging is the most direct equivalent but I'd argue that it is seen as a lot more general BM now).
Not only is it cringe, immature, and kind of disgusting, it is a lot more reminiscent of sexual harrassment and SA than being hit on the hook ever will be. Unless you're into that, I don't judge.
T-bagging over another Survivor. Killers like Ghostface or Pig, t-bagging a Survivor puts the player in the EXACT same situation you've described. However, there's never been any negative connotations with that, none at least that I've seen brought up.
With the amount of rage posts here over the years about people t-bagging them, I don't think the meaning has been watered down lol. I think they get the memo on that one.
Likewise, hitting on hook is non-consensual touching in a scenario where the victim is powerless to stop it. If we're going by the definition, that certainly fits.
While I agree that it is certainly childish, and dumb, it is a game. I feel very badly for people who could be at risk of reacting badly, but at a certain point, you need to understand the environment you are putting yourself in. Horror has always been prone to having some pretty creepy sexual undertones, see Freddy, and mixing that with an online environment is a recipe for disaster, if you are prone to being upset by such a thing.

@Halloulle said:

Sexual harassment it is - plain and simple. You don't need to get physically violated to experience sexual harassment (there's a different word for that one…) — It's similar to someone sending you eggplant emojis over and over again - and you not being able to stop them or block them. Would you say "they just sent an emoji" - or would you acknowledge the contemporary cultural context of that emoji and say it's sexual harassment?
That being said, as someone else has said already: with the tools available it's simply impossible to track/moderate so there won't be anything done about it.
Then t-bagging and hitting on hook is also sexual harrassment

The counter IS easy though, the perk tells you exactly when it is in effect. The survivor that dropped the item should know where it is because they got hit and dropped the item. It takes maybe 15 seconds to move the item to a corner and drop it, and then what happens? Now the killer has 2 perks instead of 4.
Would you rather they run 4 slowdowns instead? Because quite literally every single time some new perk combo comes out for killers, survivors complain until it disappears, and guess what? Back to 4 slowdowns it is, because every other killer perk is basically worthless.
Yeah, because any perk that is stronger than slowdowns is usually busted.

Correct.
2v8 is, in fact, making it worse.
-
They said in the beginning that 2v8 would be temporary.
They also said, iirc, that there would be multiple iterations of it.
I don't really want it to stay. It's fun, no doubt, but it needs improvement and is negatively impacting the base game.
