    I'm excitted for it.

People are over exaggerating as usual

Content creators will survive having only a 80% winrate instead of a 95% one.

I predict a lot of crying over the following 3 weeks of people blaming their losses on this to then go to one or two threats a week.

It's really not that big of a deal.

censorship is probably why you'll see fewer threads, which is the rational assumption these days involving things those inc harge of sites don't want others to hear.

Eeeeeey. I respect the Matthew Cotie route of "just to play another game"

You know. Instead of fixing their horribly unbalanced game.

Instead of people pushing for them to improve their game before they implement a system that's going to make one side very, very miserable for a long time.

Evil Dead releases in february, it was supposed to come out this year but they delayed it to february because they seem to wanna avoid the pitfalls others game had. It'll have bots and single-player capability due to them. It also looks fun even for the killer (kandarian spirit) side with some of the possession mechanics I read about and from the gamepla footage I've seen it looks like pure fun for everybody compared to this junior highschool computer lab project.

doubtful. I mean look at current pinhead changes. all negative changes. The lament box is going to be like Twin victor hostage where one player is disabled but pinhead loses half of his ability. Chains re-spawning from chains breaking objects means you'll run out of chains faster, so it will be easier to break out. 6 seconds from infinity is another negative change.

I am honestly not sure why the box is an item that you can hold. Its almost like you inviting the survivor to abuse mechanic. It should work like glyph in tome or perhaps pig's headtraps with the rule.set 2 add-on(no aura for the box).

no address on his chain strength, the objects breaking his chains instantly or cenobite walking over his chains accident from rng chain spawns.

The MMR being permanent will be awesome although you might miss old matchmaking for killer. no more easy matches.

That is funny you complain gen speed and map design when I believe that I spoke to you about freddy who had both add-on to address gen speed and generator teleport in combination address those two. Hope you were having fun playing him during MMR testing. I recon 1-2 hooks? Hope he is still top-tier for you.

lol without a survivor in the pack I'm not even buying pinhead and I won a bet about in spite of him needing buffs before release that they were going to either nerf him or release him as was (I leaned toward at least one nerf) and I also won on mmr coming permanently within two weeks if not the week he was released due to how the last test seemed to have it actually working (which isn't a good thing in a game not balanced for 4v1 without a single potato to get a foot in the door). I'll just agree that I think they're doing a pretty good job so far since I made a few bucks off of their incompetence and/or lack of concern for the minority of their userbase that only exists as 'the help'.

  • lol start getting used to it and learn to handle nurse and blight as well as don't jump on top of the first gen you see, wait until you know the killer found somebody else first since there's gonna be a lot of hardcore tunneling by the end of the month

  • @TicTac said:

That makes no sense. A killer can only chase one survivor. So a 1vs1 chase mode would be better. But then there would be less killer in the standard playlist.

There's going to be anyways within a month or two of this. Certainly by march after the Evil Dead game releases in february, which it was delayed to in order to put bots into it along with single-player capability.

  • About what I mentioned up there, with VCRs, sometimes the soundtracks are butchered due to stupid license BS on later (DVD or Bluray) releases of things, more often I've noticed it on television series rather than movies but an example in film that comes to mind is Legend and Tangerine Dream. I mean you could ironically pirate a superior version of many things that fans have restored lol. An example being an old kat fan edit that restored the music in the original Roswell series that we heard while the episodes aired on live tv back in the day. I have all the seasons on dvd but I also grabbed that torrent the moment I saw somebody up it to kat many years ago. Copyright law definitely needs to be reworked for modern times, these license renewals are a huge pita and can lead to some things' ruin or even eventually unavailability period outside of piracy.

I was wondering this as well. My PS4 works just fine, but if it stops working I'd upgrade to a PS5 or if a game comes out that is for the PS5 only. I'm a Steve/Nancy main and I'd be sad if I couldn't get them on the PS5 after Nov. But it sounds like one can if they own the chapter. I gusse I should use up my Hawkins map offerings then.

definitely use those or they'll gather as much dust as the moris did on most killers for myself. It's up in the air on whether or not owning it already will unlock iton ps5 for you due to how outdated copywrong law is in the digital era. It definitely all needs to be rewritten with digital media and it's persistence being the typical things in mind. When everything's a rental I'm becoming less and less inclined to pay for things these days at least at the same or comparable prices to what i used to pay for physical media that i can still use over 30 years later having some of the old hardware still (a couple of VCRs and my old nintendo and consoles as examples). Now with sony's talk of the cloud being the truth, the way and the light I'm even feeling less inclined to invest in consoles again.

  • Turn it into the backstages area at a concert or something and call it his map, it would be fitting enough.

MMR will be adjusted the more you play.

Unfortunately MMR is gone and the old ranking system is back.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WXRZDMBL2ICT/inked20210816161844-1-li.jpg

Guess solo Q is back to the shitshow it used to be.

That was gonna be what every killer would be doing once they hit their personal mmr ceiling btw, since the game isn't balanced and probably will never be balanced for five players of comparable skill... and pallets just went survivor-sided and a decent map for slower killers is going the way of the dodo in a couple of months too so get used to this while you still have reasonable queue times since come february I'm sure The Evil Dead game is gonna pull at least some killers if not also survivor players off of this unpolished turd. in before ban

  • It's a bad thing when you see more spirits, nurses, and sweaty killers as one more map that's decent for slower and more chill killers leaves the game. But fear not, The Evil Dead game comes in february, more fun, more polished, and even has bots and single-player capability which are the things they delayed the release wisely to include as it was gonna be only co-op only with a 4v1 mode initially. dbd is gonna finally bleed players after a long, hard, rough year of gradual decline just to see this happen months before a better game gets released lol. Man this is gonna be good.

  • Between survivor-sided pallets, mmr leading eventually to 99% of games being super sweaty and the sweaty gameplay leading to more swf forming leading to a feedback loop of moar sweat and things like one of the few decent maps for slower killers and stealth play being removed you'll also see plenty of killers removing themselves to play the much more fun and polished Evil Dead game in february and should celebrate that too.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2434667#Comment_2434667

It's not the first thing that was removed from the game, nor will it be the last.

    • Legacy Prestige is no longer attainable.
    • Moonlight offerings are gone.
    • Lower-rarity map offerings no longer spawn.
    • Splinters were deleted.

    This happens in every game.

Two things at play, this is paid content, and game-impacting content that newer players will never be able to obtain (don't give me the shrine BS since you might as well go to Vegas to see if you will ever both have the sharts and win the slots on those perks unless they make them permanently in the shrine as a secondary set of perks available permanently there and NOT in rotations). There will always be those able to play as the demo, and while he is not a great killer in most situations and they won't be losing any gameplay advantage really they will be losing the opportunity to have fun using him if a new player comes along and sees him and then gets let down when they learn he can't be acquired any more. They should just remove ALL ST content and give auric in the value of them tot he accounts and leave it fair if theyw ant any newcomers to the game and for the game to even be recommended by the time Evil Dead comes in february with what's looking like a MUCH more polished game, and a LOT more FUN along with actual bots on top of it (the reason it was delayed to february was to add single-player and bot players and good on them for the foresight).

Now before you comment, I acknowledge that tunneling and camping is a viable strategy. For the most part I don't really hold it against anyone who does it, but jeez this particular excuse has been getting on my nerves lately and that is "my objective is to kill the survivors." No, its not. The game very clearly states that the job of the Killer is to torture the survivors and after squeezing every last bit of hope they have then they can kill the survivors.

If your gonna tunnel and camp, go right on ahead, I don't care, do whatever you want but for the love of god stop using false information.

well, it sounds as if the killers are doing a pretty good job of torturing you so it sounds like they're doing their job

That is quite unmistakably an S.

    What does it mean?

    Is it a teaser?

    A name?

Crotus Prenn? (seems unlikely, as it's capitalised, and glows in the smoke)

At what I assume is the same time, this was also posted on other platforms:

Notably, it seems Ace is trapped in a cage in the bottom left. Also of note is that when comparing the board itself to how it appears in-game

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5C64D38JPHJQ/image.png

On the Facebook image, Circus is spelled with two i's -- Ciircus. In-game, that typo doesn't appear. It can also be said that the ii's vaguely resemble candles. Take that as you will.

    S & I...

Superman II... General Zod killer voiced by Terrance Stamp. The only thing that would make me wanna play this again probably. lol.

    Without actually nerfing it.

Simply, considerably reduce the amount of points you get for hooking the same survivor multiple times in a row, to at least 50% of them, this applies for at least 1 min after said person got unhooked or someone else gets hooked, if the person gets tunneled a second time in a row, the hook will only give 25% of the BP.

This no longer applies if theres only 2 survivors in the match left (Since tunneling at that point is whatever)

They would still end up with more bp playing optimally, penalized or not, than running the risk of a game ending with only 3 or 4 hooks or barely 1 kill if they're lucky against a competent swf on comms. They will still tunnel at least one player at some point in the match, the same as sometimes camping one out may turn out to be the move they need to make in a specific situation. Which makes more hits, more hooks, and a longer game leading to more bp possible for them when it's the right call. Play killer down to green ranks and begin understanding why it is sometimes necessary, though more often necessary to tunnel, camping less often and typically by proxy (like hag traps, or hooking near a gen or two you are protecting for late game and patrolling in between checking the hook so that you can respond quickly when they're unhooked).

It’s super infuriating how much they just pushed this update out without polish. I play on series x so all the last gen console bugs weren’t happening for me but the second this update comes out (aka the update that was meant to fix the bugs) instead added more bugs AND brought the bugs over to series x and other newer gen consoles. I’ve had four games where placing a trap, vaulting a window, throwing a hatchet, etc is enough to crash the entire game and give me a dc penalty. Either disable the penalty again or actually fix your game before you force us all to play when the stuff you promised to fix is clearly not even close to fixed.

Look at my forum name. The solution is there. Even if in the end you prefer this one, the success of another game will force this one to do better in order to compete over skin buyers.

  • I am certain there will be a few there.

Why care about double xp if your Uninstaller? Lol pretty useless imo

    uninstalling*

And double bloodpoints, xp is for rifts and shards.

And I uninstalled it from steam last night after the final time it kicked me in the middle of a match with the disconnection from the host bug and gave me a yet increasing 'penalty' for it and deleted it on the PS5 this morning once the event was over and hence the fun in denying as much bp as possible from other players as killer or a sandbagging survivor was over (that was the majority of the fun once i got tired of the kicks on steam happening a few times a day). The survivor queue times returning to more normal lengths will do that well enough. I no longer have use for a forum account either, as I quit for almost 4 years once and it's permanent this time. Whether or not the Evil Dead game is good. Though hopefully it is good, since without competition you'll have the game you deserve if you continue taking it in the backdoor from this developer while continuing to pay them for it with 15 dollar skins every few weeks.

Ah yes 1 video proving killer is now amazing. I have plenty of clips from today alone of me 4 man slugging as twins in 2 minutes does that mean they are the best killer to exist obviously not.

There is a special pit in the lowest depths of Tartarus...

  • There are other maps with similar spots to go up on rocks as well, yamaoka has one on the map with the big house and the killer shack. sometimes near the killer shack you can get on the rocks. The (macmillian i think it is?) map with the old mine shack and railcart rails has some rocks near it , two rocks with a pallet that tends to spawn between them, where you can also get on top of them and if the pallet is down run over the pallet onto the other rock and then on top of the two minecarts next to it. If the pallet is broken before you get up there, they are essentially able to talk around and dodge swings on that part of it regardless of where you're swinging from as long as they're paying attention. So if the pallet there gets dropped, do not break if if somebody is on those minecarts. Or record them if they are, since as far as I know they have the capability of holding the game hostage if the last man alive up there and they are moving around and don't fall while avoiding swings.

The rest that I found you can either follow them up or cans till hit them, although while I found something I could go up recently on ormond while playing survivor I did not test it out so I am unsure to it's safety since I heard the killer coming. That rock right there in your picture (the one a bone oftens pawns in front of behind the ski lodge it looks like) I have no experience with on either side so I'm not sure if there's a way to hit them, but except for the minecarts one in the one specific map involving a pallet walk you can get onto the others they can climb to my knowledge and force them down. The one with the minecarts near the old rail mine shack though, do not break that pallet if somebody is on the second rock connected to those minecarts or those minecarts themselves since you break your way of getting up and forcing them down. learned that the hard way when I didn't pay attention and notice somebody up there lol.

There must be other maps with similar spots lately. I think it's not the spots, so much as something changed recently with the collision in general which enables certain surfaces in some spots to be exploited. That's what it feels like to me, after finding those spots ins o many maps. It may also be the assets themselves that need to be fixed. Like if they use the same sort of assets in multiple kinds of maps, which may be why it tends to be rocks in these different maps that generally do this.

  • @MadmegMain said:

Not to be rude but how has it cost you the game? Yes it’s annoying but you wont lose the game from not getting a hit that you already wouldn’t get

you go not only into a stun but a successful hit wiping animation... without the exchange of the actual damage state for that 'hit cooldown'... and also it extends the chases which can in common situations cost as much as half a minute more or allow a survivor to get away and remove a hex, or finish a generator faster while removing pressure from their team.

It has a HUGE impact in the bigger picture of things in general. I have been seeing a lot of nurses this weekend, probably because of this, and it as a result hasn't been fun for myself either because I get sick of sweaty nurses eating the few cakes I had left (since I was the ONLY one in my games often, outside of SWF, that seemed to be using cakes during 5th anniversary). This will impact survivors too in the coming weeks... through seeing more spirits and nurses (I have seen a spike in both, but especially in nurses myself) and also once double bp is over in survivor queue lengths going back towards 7/8 minutes, then passing 10, then moving up to around 12 to 15 minutes and ultimate nearing 20 minutes again like they spent most of the past year at before the recent events. Brace yourselves for impact. Thankfully I'm done with dbd after monday anyways so it won't be my problem.

  • @MonsterInMyMind said:

I turned my graphic settings on medium instead of low and so far I've gotten barely any lag spikes they happen from time to time but not as often if your PC can handle it try turning your graphics on Medium see if it works for you as well again i can't stress enough im on PC this may not work for Console.

depending on the systems and power & driver settings it could be from (this game wildly spikes with gpu usage ons ome maps) the gpu going from low powered to suddenly hitting more demanding spots and the game hitches for a sec as the power spikes to meet the momentary demand. there should be settings for amd but idk them, but for nvidia once in a while a game needs 'prefer maximum performance' for me... like red dead redemption 2. this game often has my gpu at base clocks, no boost, and once in a while even underclocks in specific areas and that was when I noticed the hitch myself when killer effects and cam angles made the clock speed and voltage jump again (from watching RTSS, a killer that often does this for me would be oni).

depending on whether your gpu is powerful enough or not, that may be the case if the game isn't constantly pushing it along hard for it. try a profile for the game in your graphic driver's GUI and set the equivalent to prefer maximum performance, whatever setting tells the gpu to remain in a high powered state for that specific game regardless of the level of gpu usage at points in it.

Atleast with cloud gaming it doesnt matter how close you are to the server.

You just need good wifi itself, which many have already i guess.

actually it does matter unless you can work around the speed of light. but also how your ISP routes the traffic matters sometimes even more if it's really inefficient for gaming since it'll make the ping even higher as some final fantasy 14 players from one of the ISPs had to deal with at one point about a couple or few years back. Once we get to that point, since I can barely tolerate the latency on 4K displays (I grew up on CRTs and the atari and nes games of the 80s), I'm done with gaming outside of a black market for anything leaked or stolen source that's managed to be made able to run outside of 'proprietary hardware'. Gaming would be both a rich man's (locally) and a brainlet's (on the cloud) game then.

It is physically impossible to overcome all of that latency, and no corporation will ever want to pay for servers in every city you're playing from, plus that does not resolve the latency for rural users even if they did do that. The speed of light limits it, and will assure there will always be latency even with a server downtown (just 99% wouldn't even notice it if the server was that close and if they did it would probably be psychosomatic in those cases), which will finally make video games unenjoyable for some of us who cannot tolerate the latency, visual freezes and other annoying issues as the fact everything will literally be an overpriced rental.

But the point is, it does matter how close you are but it also matters how that traffic is routed. You could be right next to the server but if the ISP sends it to the moon and back first, you might as well throw the computer out the window and quit.

  • @Axx said:

Sorry to tell you, but the killer community is dwarfed by the survivor community. Most players will love this change and have no reason to hate it because they only play survivor. I personally, as someone who players 50/50, feel like all the complaining about getting hit through pallets so often was over exaggerated. People usually just threw the pallet too late and got hit and then whined about getting hit through it. But that really doesn't matter. Just look at the game's history and you can see all the absurd things that have been added to benefit the survivor because people whined and complained, that were then removed because they were absurdly broken and overpowered.

Once enough killers start queueing as survivors again it'll change again for a while. But frankly, that's like an unhealthy relationship with an abusive partner you walk away from yet constantly find yourself going back to when you should find anew game instead, regardless of their pecs or showering you with gifs. Once the double xp is over I'm uninstalling this game for good, which I can do since I did it almost 5 years ago and didn't play again until last year. Even if Evil Dead turns out bad (I doubt anything will be worse than dbd no matter how bad) I would rather sit and stare at the static on old tv broadcasts all night than play this garbage any longer especially without double xp and as stingy as this community is like will all of the cakes.

The saying goes, "I don't get paid enough for this.". It would take at least minimum wage to get me to ever install or run this game again, especially as killer, after monday. Those streamers you watch? If they weren't making money off of it, believe me, most of them would not be playing this. I guarantee it. Especially the killer streamers.

Its not fair when you face people that lives next to the server with 10 or 20 ping and you play with 60 because of the distance and can't do anything about it.

This kind of ######### is seen in shooter like rainbow six and it makes the game one of the worst and most frustrating shooters cause it favor privileged people around the servers and gives a big ######### you to people that play with anything more than that.

Cloud Gaming is teh future, time to get used to it or get back into reading to pass teh time.

I think I am the first in the forum to make or show my Tier-List from 5.1.0

Honestly if I could extend more Tiermaker I could leave Trickster in C + but it is between B and C.

To be honest, this is how I see the current state of the killers of this patch, Hillbilly I see it useless now but it could be in A just for its mobility, I leave it in C for its Attack type.

It makes me sad to put Myers in F even if it is my main but it really is weak, not even his most powerful addons like Tombstone can do it even more, if the survivor knows if he has Tombstone or not, by how he moves his arm in Tier- 3.

I'd myself put myers C (he can be good int he right hands, just not mine), trickster C (too map limited and has recent nerfs counteracting some of the buffs an a slow base movement speed), wraith A with his current cloaked speed with no speed saddons which I confess I've thoroughly enjoyed abusing a few times myself with the purple auras addon and the decloak speed addon.

  • @latinfla4 said:

Watching a friend play as a rank 11 vs a swf using wraithon lerys. He played fair no camping and no tunneling they proceed to stomp him and of course verbal abuse happens afterwards.

Look at the ranks and of course 4 man red rank...everything they could do from pallet validation to body blocking...end game he camps finally but nope body block all the way to the exit gate.

Finally gets the down right before the exit gate (hit very early wraith uncloak lunge way b4 they reach the pallet). Elodie is down he goes to get his well deserved kill and you guessed it elodie is already running through the exit gate as he get pallet stunned.

Some colorful words later he ejects the game disc uninstalled dbd and says that's it I am trading this in to gamestop tomorrow and getting something that is less buggy.

My friend has been playing since the game launched and this was the last straw...he forgave bhvr through the anniversary debacle and 2 busted patches. He has spent money on killer cosmetics but bad matchmaking and bugs finally made him realize not to bother playing anymore.

I am proud of your friend's decision as you should be. There are only two things that will motivate this game being made into what it could be. The first is what your friend has done with it, the second is healthy competition that isn't crippled by lawsuits (Friday the 13th) or people too afraid to start over on a new game while better games may be hurt by never growing the community DBD devs have taken for granted. Hopefully Ash Vs. The Evil Dead's Kandarian spirit mode will be the competition that this needs so that both games will have to stay on their toes in order to compete for players.

There is also Back 4 Blood, but I have some healthy skepticism about that one due to it's publisher, it's developer's previous missteps with a DBD predecessor (Evolve) and the fact that B4B will not allow modding and will instead sell more campaigns and regardless what is said now eventually special infected to Versus players (meaning it'll likely be short-lived and possibly low-pop).

Ash Vs. The Evil Dead, from the gameplay footage I have seen and the mechanics I read about may be the blend of a solid developer (Saber), a franchise with a large enough pull (Evil Dead), and the gameplay necessary to prevent behavior from coasting along scottfree on easy street with no substantial competition that doesn't get nuked or is poorly marketed and never develops a solid playerbase long enought o live (like Last Year releasing on discord for the facepalm a year before Steam).

I've been thinking about using those 3, and maybe swapping lithe with resilience for vault speed or dead hard while trying out vigil to see how the impact on CDR helps and just replacing vigil with resilience if it doesn't have a big payout. I wanna have fun with the new pallets.

Stuff like that happened multiple times to me btw.

WHY in the world do my hatchet hits get canceled??? On windows as well as on pallets since the new hit validation!

Dont get me wrong, i am happy about a new hit validation but you basically just changed it from extremely killer sided to extremly survivor sided. It should be in the middle to be balanced, and i got a ping of 20 most of the time.

And the excuse ,,Survivors had to deal with this for years" is just stupid and doesnt make any sense. If you had to deal with it, you should know how annoying it is and just because you had to deal with it, it doesnt mean others have to suffer from it too.

However, PLEASE explain me why HATCHETS should get denied!

    Especially on windows!

Can any mods confirm if this is intended or just a bug???

    @MandyTalk

Huntress hatchets too eh? Now is the time for my basement Bubba, No Way Out/Blood Warden Wraith or Doctor (with Starstruck) or just continue playing survivor which I have mostly done this year. I guess I won't have to even be mindful of the hatchets when trying to decide whether I should I should pre a pallet to gain distance in a tight spot against a sweaty huntress or try to fake it if I will get a free pass lol. I played a few killer games and had this happen once or twice in each game, so I shall go survivor from now on once I get bored with endgame play. (Prove Thyself is stacking right now, btw, you need to expect to play around endgame but only if you're seeing it often in your own killer games as I've seen very few using it myself while playing solo survivor unfourtanutely). This is the way.

P.S. to be fair, Huntress has along history of buggy hitboxes that often land in her favor such as being clearly a second or two around a corner and halfway down the wall after the turn and suddenly the hatchet hitting as if it flew threw the wall. So in her case I am less sympathetic, but in general even for her this should not be happening. I'm pretty certain the boosts to survivor queue times that things like the DS and OoO balance gave are about to be undone and then some within a few weeks once enough killers have had time to play enough to get sick of this new bug considering how rough it is already on some of them if they have bad matchmaking or face a lot of decent/good swf. Get in as much Q time as you can as survivors while you can basically since those Q times are gonna start pushing ten minutes or more within a few weeks of the events BP bonus being done with.
