Back when MFT + Hope were the meta? Yes. But in general not really.
Trapper's animation makes him seems as though he is moving faster. I've never gone against a Michael without PWYF or STBFL, so I can't even tell you how his normal animation looks like or whether he seems fast or not on average.
-
They'd said they were only going to change his add-ons. His hug-tech is going to get the old Dead Hard treatment, and will be looked at in 6 to 7 years ;)

I went to ormond today. Brought a sacrificial ward and the survivors brought a Ormond offering. Still went there. What is the point of a sacrificial ward if I go to the bad map anyway? 3 times this has happened to me. I was going on a 2 month streak of no DCs as killer before this. Please can sacrificial wards be fixed? I'm tired of going to badham and garden of joy even after I took the time for a sacrificial ward. If I'm stressed enough to bring a ward already and then my ward doesn't work it is really depressing. Please BHVR you have fixed a lot of stuff the last few years let this be the next problem you fix 🙏
I've noticed this happening lately a lot more as well, and on top of that, it seems as though map-repeat prevention isn't working anymore either.

The game designers did say that the game is designed around 1 killer vs 4 individual players each with their own win condition and specifically NOT a killer vs a survivor team. I think maybe because they know that a whole team of 4 working together always would be incredibly strong, so they add some elements of the game that tempts survivors to do their own thing. Sort of an every man for himself mentality but understanding that working together puts the odds more in your favor. It's like an element of chaos. The survivor challenges that discourages effective teamwork is an example.
If this is the case they have a very funny way of showing it with how they treat soloq, and almost force you to swf.
-
Alien/Xeno. I just cannot dodge its attacks for some reason? Give me Huntress, Caleb, or Nemi and I can dodge 99% of their hits, which are so much the same as Xeno's, but for some reason Xeno itself I just can't.
Trickster with his billion ricocheting knives. What's the point of trying to dodge the first thousand knives when he has so many anyways. I'll take Nurse and Blight over them any day.
-
Because Nurse and Blight still exist. I don't understand why most think that the issue with UW is its blindness status effect. It's the fact that you're screaming no matter where you are, even if in lockers, and when you're up against a high-mobility killer it is basically ggs. I think even Philip would become unstoppable with this perk.

Even with a perk that allow killers to sprint at Blight speed. Doctor is still not as broken as Blight.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BEG2WJZVIULH/image.png
I would like a perk on survivor that if killer hooks them, killers will get Blind status for 30sec. Then Im sure killers understand how annoying Blindness status is for survivors.
The constant Blindness that deny over 20 survivor' perks is one thing. But the biggest problem is deny the aura from slugged and hooked teammates, those are build-in aura for a reason.
Ps: I dont think 5sec activation is a nerf to the perk. Blight can cross the map and make a use on you within 5sec. Other killers are fine (not the Blindness though), 5sec would make the info part almost useless on them.
Since when are you no longer drawing Spirit, what the heck 😭 /j
-
That really sucks. I don't think players like that have anything against you they're just dragging baggage from their previous games with them into the next ones.
Unfortunately, not everyone understands what sportsmanship actually means. I wouldn't focus on them BM-ing but more on getting to learn the killer. Just pretend they're bots 😜
-
No, thank you to bond. If I see any more Dweets and Feng Mins lead the killer to other survivors with bond, I will uninstall or lobby dodge like a grasshopper.
-
Aside from the fact that survivors face many different killers with each a specific and unique power with different perks and add-ons, all of which require a lot of knowledge from a survivor player while for a killer it doesn't require that as much. Sure they need to know survivor perks, but that's it.
Survivors don't have their own powers and add-ons. Baby survivors are still learning all that, the layout of the insane amount of maps, some with 4 to 5 different versions *shakes fist at Badham* learning how to loop, how to do gens efficiently e.g. which ones to do first, and they might also have sidequests because they're doing archives.
TLDR: you cannot compare the two roles, because they vastly differ from one another.
@[Deleted User] said:

That doesn't quite go into the "why" of it. Gens fly in comp because chases go to specific clock positions from the start and there's no friendly fire. And the early game is vastly different. Most killers struggle to find survivors at the start of a match when they first start playing scrims.
To answer OP: comp killer strats are more intuitive to pull off in a public match. You just play as sweaty as possible and you're halfway there. Plus it only requires one person. Comp survivor is a lot more complicated to start, and you need 4 people on the same page.
Just watch the Hardcore Survivor challenge with Otz, Ayrun, Hens, and JRM, and you'll see that even teams with thousands of hours on coms still aren't always on the same page. And @ OP you're expecting people in Soloq to be?
-
You should be able to drop it and pick it back up. That used to be the case before Flashbang and so on still counted as an item. Maybe you were standing somewhere where you couldn't drop it? I've noticed that lately there are more "tiles" were it's become more difficult to place down an item in general.

You're entirely misunderstanding what's happening here.
In an online space, you cannot gauge how someone feels after an interaction. After a physical sports match, you can see it. You can feel the vibe, if you will. If you know you wiped the floor with someone, you're not gonna go "tough luck xxx". You'll shake hands or bow or whatever, and leave it at that. Nothing more. Which, might I add, is meaningless in itself. Because it's forced through the culture.
"GG" is the closest equivalent, but it's still nowhere close an implied social rule. There's no people looking down at you when you don't say GG. Especially in DbD, where there's 5 people max, most of which will have left long before it even becomes relevant, nobody gives a damn if the chatbox remains empty. Hell, well over half the playerbase can't even use it, period.
Why is it then that you're so hung up on someone not having the reponse you expect from them? They're under no rule, implied or otherwise, to return the gesture. This is not a sports match. You should be well-aware of that.
But it's you who is taking the time to write out the "tough map but you played well <3". Writing that out in itself is not the standard, so it stands out - it's going to be read as a meaningful phrase, and it will be read in whatever way the reader is feeling like. In an online space, where "<3" has taken on the meaning of an implied sarcastic tone, the message of "tough luck" then turns into a phrase of condecension.
Different cultures, different expectations.
Hello hi i am a person on the autistic spectrum with a fascination (and deeply rooted hatred) for implied social rules.
You can certainly gauge how someone is feeling when they outright say it. But that's not the point.
Reason why I asked it here is because I wanted to see if others were experiencing the same or not, and those who do see it differently could explain why, which they did.
I'm not hung up on anything, I in general, do not like it so see others being hurt or anything in that manner when I can do something about it (that's a me problem which I'm aware of, no worries🙂). I've gained a lot of friends through this game some thanks to the end-game chat as well, both while playing survivor and killer 🤷 so I know not everyone gets their knickers in a bunch over a misunderstood 'gg'.
That being said, thanks to all of the above responses I've come to a conclusion and made a decision for myself. So thank you for sharing your insights as well. Have a good one! /sincerely

Nah, this is stupid. Did none of you play sports growing up? you always said good game to every other player on the opposite team, whether you won or not. It's good sportsmanship. If they can't take it that way, that's a them problem. I'm going to say gg even if I win because--wow--I was actually taught to be a good sport.
You're almost the only one who gets it. Growing up I did a lot of martial arts and after a fight of literally beating the **** out of each other at the end you'd still bow to one another and say well done 🤷🏼♀️

There's a little arrow thing next to the chat. Clicking that removes the chat. You can show the chat against by clicking the arrow button again.
I thought that only hid it in pre-game lobby but not afterwards, but I might be mistaken. But thanks anyways.

I always say "gg", unless I don't think it was a good game. Then I either write "well played" (when I get absolutely stomped) or nothing at all (when I stomped or played against exploiters / cheaters).
A match in which I am paired with complete beginners cannot be a good game for me, because that's boring. Or fascinating. Sometimes it's like watching a rare animal and trying to understand their behavior. Nature is truly marvellous.
Fair enough!

Yes, I tell them gg and wp if they outplay me, simple as. Sometimes even learn from them and their tactics which I can use when I play killer, I think that makes the game a lot more fun as well. I obviously don't say anything if the killer is face-camping, nodding yes-yes and hitting on hook until you die, IG now we have anti-camping mechanic but even before, I'll just hit that Continue button asap lol.

Considering the fact that certain types of griefing like bodyblocking are reportable, it should be a no-brainer to make it preventable instead of reportable.
Why would you allow certain mechanics to happen in your game and make it a reportable offense when you could just remove that simple thing from existing in the first place? I agree. If you're stuck in a corner because you're being body-blocked by either teammates or the killer until you get a crow, you should lose collision.
Same for gamers who unhook/cancel non-stop, if it happens more than 5 times by the same survivor in quick succession they should get an unhook timer or just be teleported to the other side of the map, IDK but there should be something preventing them from grieving entirely. 🤷♀️
But IG it is cheaper to make something reportable and not do anything with those reports instead of actually doing something against it.
-
Hiding it in pre-game lobby would help against lobby dodgers and not getting tunneled the F out just because you have more BP's on this one skin.
Though I will say Prestige Feng Mins are something else. I'm very guilty of dodging those, but I dodge Fengs regardless of their prestige. I just cannot be on a team with Feng Min gamers.
-
What are these poll options though? How are you going to collect any sort of significant data when one option is 5% in 20, the other 10% in 10, and one states "a couple" what the heck is a couple? That differs for people.

LMAO love this response! Who knew that getting slugged would help people become productive! Meanwhile, I tab out and watch netflix or youtube 💀

Ha! Jumpscare Myers can be so good though lol. I remember back when I was first getting into DBD I wasn't as aware of that, and one time the player got me so good, I almost destroyed my keyboard. It's a good thing that it's nearly indestructible but like one of its buttons flew off lmao.
Mine is this one Pig skin that has a drill I think for a weapon and when she hits you, it doesn't make a lot of sound. So I'm often confused as to did she hit me and when and how.

Like why? only significant nerf that comes to mind was the CD increase for missed attacks, which DID require a nerf.
What else we got though? the turrets no longer having like a second or two of immunity to dmg when emerging (god this was awful) and far, FAR better visual feedback on the tail attack that made it easier to use.
I played the cat quite a few times (And im not that great at him) And i dont feel like hes weak at all.
Because they all went to drama school. People on here whine about literally everything. Xeno was bugged and then got fixed, as he should have. People just don't like the fact that now they actually have to BOTHER to win a game instead of it being handed to them on a silver platter.

Can people not whine about average perks for once? How much handholding do you need jfc. Should all survivors just start on hook? Can you win then or will you still whine?

@PriestessPoppy said:
I don't understand the balance philosophy of the devs, removing fast vaults after falling (check 7.4.0 patch notes) means they don't really like bugs that allow you to "bypass" limitations "coded" into the game for balance, but Wesker sliding on walls and Blight hug teching and Oni doing 180s during dashes did not get fixed, so I guess they selectively choose what intended mechanics you can break? Why are the above mentioned "techs" a "skill ceiling expression" but the quirky vaults you can make in less than 5 maps only if rng blesses you a bug that has to be fixed? I hope I can get a clear answer from the devs in order to understand exactly the thought process behind how these decisions are taken, also share your thoughts below, I'm curious about everybody's opinion on this! This is not meant to be an us vs them post, but killer techs are the only things that came to my mind to compare with survivor's fall vaults.
Edit 1: reading the patch notes seems like Freddy lost his ability to place Snares through walls, this all comes back to "so I guess they selectively choose what intended mechanics you can break?" from my original post.
At this point they should bring out DBD 2 with better EVERYTHING like holy smokes this game needs a massive update on all fronts
-
I have it on high because I have it the other way around haha. I see more with high settings and way further into the map than on lower settings.
Also who cares about which setting you play, as long as you have fun? There are so many people using filters and whatnot that change the darkest maps so bright it almost looks like Freddy's dream version of them... now that would be something else.
-
WoO doesn't show the player anything that isn't already there on the map beforehand. It helps beginners learn the tiles better and most intermediate to skilled gamers don't need to use it because they already know the map. It doesn't add all that much advantage to SWF-gamers.
The only group of people it genuinely helps is Soloq. But considering every update, perk, and add-on change just LOVES to ######### on SoloQ, might as well whine about WoO long enough until it's nerfed into the ground and is beyond useless.
UW allows the killer to know every survivor's location, with very little to no cooldown, aside from that it even works on survivors in lockers when literally no other perk works like that. This makes it on killers with high mobility quite overpowered and its cooldown is almost negligible. It's disgusting on Nurse, Blight, and even Wesker. You shouldn't have to put on 1 very specific perk (Calm Spirit) to counter that. I don't think most people have an issue with its blindness status effect.

So very excited for him as killer, let's go BHVR!

MfT was the second most used survivor perk (with 21% pick rate), while Ultimate Weapon wasn´t even on the top 10 list.
Also, XXX needs to be nerfed, because YYY received a nerf isn´t exactly a healthy approach. Just saying.
UW is paid to win. Simple as. It is absolutely disgusting on Nurse and Blight. It needs balancing because as it is it's literally the killer putting their brains on cruise-control.

Who cares? Killers are still tunneling AF and proxy-camping regardless of the event. Do you know how many Blights and even Nurses I faced that just proxy-camp and proceeded to tunnel a surv to death? Yea, fun chases for everyone there :)

I just learned Made For This is getting "re worked" cause killers again whined and whined to devs. Taking the haste away cause low skill killers can't get easy hits or want to learn to beak loops. The chase peek meta became meta due to the valt re work being reworked cause again, killers whined that the were 'missing' valt hits and loosing chases. Maybe killers could practice instead of relying if devs to make it easier. It's rare for any killer perk to be nerphed. How would all killers having ultimate weapon no longer causes survivor to scream? Killers got self healing taking out, med kits nerphed to two heal max, boons worthless, dead hard neutered, etc. True you can't face camp with our a kolby timer but you can still proxy steps away from hook, or just use wraith to face camp. Also MFT was not the end all be all when a survivor was chased. Only that it might give you the chance to valt successfully, killers still had a major speed advantage. The game is designed that all killers can out run a survivor.
The Devs will nerf every perk when enough people on this forum whine about it. As for vaulting, just play a male character, cause the only thing we were lacking in this game was sexism, so now that we have that in-check as well the fun can begin. /s

There is no anti-camping mechanic. In this other thread we have the direct response about it.

After 3,5 hours playing this game today, hoping for some nice rounds, i finally stoped... a little bit in disblieve.
This is no news for you: DBD has one if not the most toxic and generally speaking worst community someone can think off. But what i have wittnessed today is beyond my usual, most of the time sub par experience.
Today i played exclusiv survivor and i am not exaggerating when i tell: Not a single round, in 3,5 hours where the killer has not tunneled 1 person out of the game early on. The endgame chat was in 8/10 cases bashing like "gg ez" or other rude language.
I need to ask this question, and i am not sure if it is rhetorical in nature. What is wrong with people in this game? What makes people play like complete jerks and then even beeing aholes in the chat?
Is there really nothing BHVR can do to fix this issue? After a day like this, i would even considere something like base kit DS, which would not be a terrible idea - forcing the killer to play the game instead of cheapshoting an easy win by creating a quick 1v3 situation.
This of course wont happen to me to that degree when i play in a group of friends, since generators would be done and you can coordinate things. But playing as solo survivor is a different story.
Thoughts about that?
I've learned that the best thing to do after 5-10 such games, is to STOP playing on days like that. Try the next day, or you will sorely regret it.
Or you could just take a break. My friends and I used to play this game daily, now we can't even be bothered with the event. This game really brings out the worst in people, e.g. look at streamers with thousands of hours still struggling and tilting in soloq, that says more than enough.
