  • Bring back mechanics that allowed you to show skill expression instead of mindless W-holding and throwing the ridiculous amount of pallets.

Controversial but Old DH, never had an issue with baiting it out, prefer it to the newer survivor perks.

  • @Crowman said:

Pyramidhead isn't the only killer that can negate survivor perks. Plague tends to negate any healing perk.

Not really, with Plague you can choose to cleanse and heal or not to, so you are left with a tactic against her.

    @Backmon said:

For same reason why its not activate pop or pain res. Cage is not a hook. And bring survivors to the cage means you win some you lose some (you shouldnt deal with long transport for survivors and also dealing with their powerful perks but also you cant trigger your perk that demand hook state)

That makes no sense. Considering he can already just put you in a cage without it undoing your perks' powers. It's as effective as not carrying you, but allows for counterplay.

  • There are a lot of issues, but it's difficult to address them when even the Devs themselves often don't seem to want to listen or do anything about it.

Talk about SoloQ? The devs think it's doing great! The stats don't differ that much to them and when they can look at stats, why should they care about the gamers' experience??? When the numbers tell them that it's not "too bad" it's not as if the players have paid for this unbalanced game of spaghetti codes. No, instead they call soloQ selfish and lone wolves, and THAT"S why on average soloq is doing worse, not because they lack information.

Why add emotes? WHy allow your players to see one another's perks in the lobby? Why incentivize not to give up instantly? Just add more pallets and more bots! <3

  • Controlling the audio levels of everything that has a sound OUTSIDE of a trial (damn bloodweb for one) and lowering survivor screams when they get hooked/downed so I don't have to chronically tab out or deafen while playing just to not get deafened.

Every single game allows you to control your audio settings, I understand that it cannot be done in-game for reasons, but do we HAVE to hear the killers hit you with the same sound effects non-stop while leveling up or the sounds of the BW? No.

  • I know, but BHVR tends to bring back certain event mechanics, and this one sure needs tuning. Because I can't imagine it was intended to work faster than certain perks did.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

I haven't had any issues hitting DS during the event. All went fine.

so apparently if you spammed q or whichever your input button was for remote-hooking you could hook faster than DS, and the other actions as others have mentioned. Which is just sad.

  • @jesterkind said:

I'm not convinced it's supposed to be faster than DS. It's very purposefully not too fast for a flashlight or pallet save, so I think whenever some people get remote-hooked before they can activate DS, it's a latency thing.

I might be wrong, though. And hey, at least the event's over now!

Knoiwing bhvr this will come back in another event or so.

SO, ghostface. Y'all think he's so bad, but come on, with enough practice he can be good. Im getting pretty consistent 3ks thanks to the stalking. Thoughts?

Enjoy those 3ks while they last lol. Soon you'll get matched against players who know who to counter him and play him like a fiddle instead. Then you're left to play him as a meme-er or lose enough times that you're back against beginners.

  • @LordGlint said:

Saw a video of a popular youtuber using OoO to counter weave. He'd purposefully expose his aura by dropping an item, then run the loop perfectly due to aura reading. My first reaction was "neat", but didn't really think anyone would follow suit until Inow. just got out of a game with 2 OoO users. Figured this MIGHT be a coincidence, or it might be the start of counter picking due to Weave. Thoughts?

Every single Vecna I've faced has been using this combo and I don't understand why. Vecna already comes with training wheels? He literally has everything you would need at his disposal: to find survivors, down them, and a power for loops. This combo only works and is annoying in soloq. But then again the devs never care about soloq, so it;''s going to stay as it is.

I don't see any seasoned Nurses or Blights running this lol.

Ah. Going a little further back in the discussion, I think I misunderstood your position. I thought you were claiming that you need to run 2 perks because the game is busted, and not that you shouldn't run two perks. My bad.

Oh, I see, no nw! I was discussing the merits of bringing DS over OTR with someone else, who claimed that just because people aren't bringing OTR it equals to them not being tunneled. I bring DS because killers do tunnel more often during this event, but the given stats are not representative of the entire community base at all. It's a correlation, not a causation at best.

I'll give two examples on my servers that have occurred multiple times before and during this event, which had nothing to do with the killer "wanting pressure" but because of

1: the characters the gamers were playing (Sable, David & Leon) and

2: flag charms. On EU servers some people ALSO tunnel someone out because of those reasons. Those gamers have outright said they were doing so in EGC: tunneling someone out for flag charms/characters.

The above happens less often, in my experience, but it still does happen along with your usual gamers who tunnel for pressure or x/y/z.

Regardless of how prevalent it is, it would be nice if more could be done about tunneling, be it by giving survivors more side-objectives so that they don't gen-rush, incentivizing the killers to spread hooks, maybe switching up the scratchmarks from the unhooked to the unhooker? So the killer only sees theirs if they are healthy? IDK.

I mean, from where I'm standing, they already did. I bring OTR in 90% of my survivor games, but it's not like BT where the perk was legitimately mandatory on everyone to stop the killer from being able to sit next to the hook and smack the unhooked survivor back down the microsecond their feet touched the ground.

Now that it's guaranteed to give an endurance hit no matter what, I've had a killer hit me off the hook, like… once? in the entirety of survivor games I've played during the event? And it was a Billy saw, so I don't even know if they were trying to hit me or the unhooker. Way more common that the killer waits 10 seconds, tries to hit me then, and OTR gives me value.

Tunneling is still inordinately powerful, but we're no longer at the stage where perks are mandatory to bandaid game flaws, and the basegame protections have done a fair job at making these tactics less ubiquitous.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3753910#Comment_3753910

Unfortunately I think intent, or at least an inference of it, is necessary to come up with any kind of meaningful statistic about tunneling. A survivor being hooked twice in a row doesn't really mean anything by itself. If the chases between those hooks were a minute apart, the killer was doing other things, and then happened to find that same survivor healed and doing gens, that isn't a tunnel. Even if the hooks are in quick succession, it can be a matter of bad luck or poor plays, though the situation starts looking more suspect.

But, I think you can reasonably discern intent by whether or not the killer makes an attempt to pursue that survivor 3x in a row. This was observable in most of your games. True, you don't have eyes in the sky, but if the killer isn't proxying/coming back to the hook or they're chasing someone else, it's not tunneling - or at least not a definition of tunneling many people would agree with, so not statistically useful.

I'm not saying you need the kind of perfect match replay that picks apart why the killer might have tunneled that survivor, whether it was incited, if the survivor did something stupid that made them an opportunistic target, or whether factors in the match made the tunnel 'justified.' That level of intent is too specific and defeats the point of this experiment. But I do think you need a higher standard of narrowing down 'this killer was trying to get a survivor out of the game,' because as it is, a sample of seven games turned up six false positives where your definition of tunneling was met, but the actual spirit and predominant complaint of tunneling was not.

Your point being? I'm saying people are either bringing OTR or DS, doesn't matter whichever. It's still a waste to bring both just to "not" get tunneled

  • @Neaxolotl said:

Because it's unlikely that the perks gets "instantly wasted" nowadays, thanks to AFC feature that will absolutely helps

Maybe the devs should fix their game, instead of us needing 2 perk slots out of 4 to counter one play-style hm? And I still wouldn't waste 2 perk slots, you do you :)

  • No I wouldn't? Why anyone waste 2 perk slots when one of them gets instantly wasted the second you get unhooked and get hot anyways? That's the most illogical thing to do.

Ok deal. I'll gladly give up all survivor abilities if pallet breaking and remote hooking are gone. I just want more bloodpoints and literally could not care less about all of this extra junk they put into the event.

Deal! I'll call the notary and ask them to draft our new agreement 🤝

  • @Neaxolotl said:

I know, the fact majority of survivors not even bringing OTR really tells there is not much of tunneling from the beginning

Because most bring DS instead and that one is more useful?

DS at least allows you to get to somewhere safe, even if a killer hits you right after you've been unhooked. OTR doesn't do that.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

It feels extremely cheap to go against, especially compared to the other event abilities. It's just a "nope you can't use this loop" button. I don't know why Exposed on Bloodlust was dropped over this one, since that one was pretty situational all things considered.

Remote Hook is pretty strong, but it just needs the bugs ironed out for next year I think. I got teleported to a hook when trying to pallet save someone lmao.

If remote pallet break is gone so should be window blocking. Do you have any idea how unfair it is to chase someone who have set up pallets after pallats on maps with a lot of double pallets and godwindows, to finally catch only to lose chase because survivors can block a god-window, don't get me started on the infinite windows.

BHVR: we don't have enough pallets

    …oh

On the plus side, that explains that. On the negative side, I thought I was getting a STUPID amount of BP in one survivor match and now my illusions are broken 😭

It helps to just check your tally in the lobby where it shows your total amount of BPs and not after a match, that one isn't buggy as far as I know. But I think that some of the items in the BW have gone up in price as well. Usually it takes around 1 million give or take to go up a level (P1 > P2), now it takes around 2 million in the later BW levels?? Before this event it was never as bad.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8X6VPAFPPVVZ/image.png

This map is still spawning double pallets and there is another infinite window in the basement area.

It should've never gone live the way it was, it just goes to show that the Devs not only don't play their own game, but they don't even test them. They just add more pallets to most maps instead of actually fixing them and infinites are back on several other maps.

  • @Junylar said:

All new maps have a lot of pallets, but all of them are trash that can be ignored. You can't loop any of those rocks for more than a single loop. This is their new map design philosophy: a ton of garbage pallets instead of a few really strong loops.

You can easily when they're all perfectly connected to shack and a jungle gym right beside shack which leads to main. There are so many times where you can use bloodlust or you're forced to break them but good survivors seriously know how to loop and connect these well. The amount of double pallets on these tiles is just bonkers.

  • @NerfDHalready said:

how are you comparing those pallets to ones on gideon? almost all of gideon pallets are safe/god pallets.

I'm talking about the amount of them? Maybe actually read the post next time. I didn't say they were all "godpallets" so calm down.

  • Here is an example of one of the RNGs of the map
    Pallet to pallet at 4-wall:

    image.png image.png image.png image.png

This one ^ leading perfectly to these two:

And then there is this one leading to another pallet at a bench and another rock:

    image.png

and see those lockers? Yeah? Behind those are these two:

And these are just the pallets at the rocks, and often the map spawns doubles. Like how is this normal??

Darkening the maps helps. The corn maps and the erie of crows sucks out any tension from the game outside a few stealth killers.

That's a bit of an extreme comparison. If you look at Azarov's that one is dark as well but you can at least see things on it. I'm going to agree to disagree with you. I've come to hate the new map with a passion. From its awful lighting to the its ridiculously massive basement with just 2 hooks and a portal?? I hate it. I'll take old RPD with infinite library any day.

  • @ChaosWam said:

Personally I love the darker maps, makes it look like a real horror game.

You know what would make it a real horror game? Adding actual elements of horror, not just awfully dark lighting. I'll take being able to see, without becoming a recluse who has to sit in a dark AF room just so I can see over any "horror" elements this game pretends to offer. It's a game about staring at a progression bar on gens, running around bushes and pallets, there's nothing "scary" about it.

  • @glitchboi said:

DBD is a horror game (at least it’s meant to be one) so naturally the environment will be dark. Filters are an option if you’re on PC, or you can adjust brightness settings on your monitor/TV.

This game might be advertised as a "horror" game but let's be real, nothing about this game is "scary".

The only thing that might be terrifying is the actual prospect of getting tinnitus as a gamer with a headset on. I love being able to see more than having a mediocre map that only thanks its "scariness" to how dark it is. What a joke. If that wasn't enough BHVR added double pallets to it as well, wonderful map, truly.

They're certainly indicative of skill. It'd be silly to suggest someone with 800 hours is as good at the game as someone with 200.

Not quite, considering there are people with smurf-accounts and/or those who are just tanking their MMR to get easier games. So the player pool isn't always fitting your MMR, as it should be.

I've around 3k hours and have been matched against killers between 8k to 11k hours (even after having taken a long break) > some of those killers were big streamers with a heck of a lot more experience than I have. I play solo-q, I know my MMR isn't that high, so I shouldn't get matched up against those. But the MMR is just wonky at best.

  • Claire, Leon and David are even worse. Put Iron Will on them and then they're about the same as Ace usually is.

I've asked this SO MANY times, IDK why BHVR loves to give its player base tinnitus. There are certain sounds that are far too loud than it is neccessary. Survivor sounds not being equal, their screams whilst getting hooked, and so on. I will put this on ever single BHVR questionnaire about the game until maybe one day they will see it and give an F about it.

  • Why would you want to nerf two healthy perks?

Pain Res, when used correctly, ensures that the killer doesn't tunnel and it only works 4 times in a match.

POP, makes it so that the killer has to actively leave hooks and so on to go over and kick a gen. You can even use Repressed Alliance to prevent such if killers in your games equip POP that often.

  • The skins are nice and the lobby BG as well!

But I can't see anything as killer, it's too much red and so noisy 😵 and RED!!! 😭

it is probably low MMR because in low MMR, 3 gen is difficult for a team to counter because there is already lack of cohesion at that level of play. Completing a single gen is like crazy feat. so expecting a intense cohesion to combat killer's strategy is unlikely.

a defensive 3 gen play-style is extremely easy to pull as killer but not easy to counter as survivor. It is like facecamping insidious bubba.

have u tried playing SoloQ? How about you do that a few games then come back.

I have to agree, I have let seen a 3 genning SM ever since her last rework. Meanwhile I have seen plagues, sing, and trappers 3 genning way more often. The few SM I have had just play the game somewhat normal. They use her power in chases like intended and rarely just sit in one location on the map. Reality is that if a killer wants to 3 gen it doesn't matter what killer they on, they will 3 gen no matter what.

I think that you might have a different mmr/region than I do. I haven't seen Trapper/Sing in ages. Mostly Blights/Billy's/Nurses and the odd ones out are usually Dull Merchants.

  • @jesterkind said:

I don't know, I guess this must be just some kind of region or MMR difference. I rarely see Skull Merchants, and when I do see them, they're just playing her normally.

Maybe there's some other region or MMR bracket where these SM players really are causing problems like this, but it sure as hell isn't mine.

Even then, though, I generally object to one annoying playstyle being used to dismiss an entire killer. It'd be like saying "What's the point of playing against Leatherface/Huntress" because a lot of them facecamp, or "What's the point of playing against Artist/Knight" because a lot of them just drop their power at loops. It's not exactly constructive.

I'm not even going to explain a thing to you, seeing your forum pfp. That answers enough.

  • @jesterkind said:

If you wanna get value out of it, do it while SWF-ing or use it as killer. IDK why but certain killer-mains get tunnel vision when they see BPS. Although those always have tunnel-vision anyways.

  • Yes, this has happened many times since the latest updates. Next update survivors will just spawn on hooks.

  • They probably will. I think they care more about numbers than their players' experiences. That has been VERY clear for years now. Let them nerf these perks and see how many people you're going to keep. Also if it goes by pickrate they should nerf Pain Res and POP into the ground as well.

  • I have had this issue non-stop for days now. The server connection has been horrendous.

    Platform: steam

  • I don't dodge gamers because they're P100 or P00 like who cares? All players are a mixed bag, they either play well or they don't.

Also, you're not facing AI's, you're facing other people who can have an off-day, or maybe that match is their first of the day or in a long while, like why instantly assume?

I only dodge lobbies with gamers with numbers for names and very rare skins who seem sus AF. Otherwise, I couldn't care less what prestige they have.

Report if you thinks it’s a bug or sus.

Like I said they weren't using BL and they weren't staggering either. One instance wasn't even from a great height but a jump down the pier on Swamp straight into a fast vault, and that was quite mindblowing because I couldn't even get a hit on them (and no, it wasn't ping related)

  • They state that they are monitoring the difference(s), but what they don't say in the AMA or elsewhere is how or what specifically they are monitoring, which makes it come across as just a dismissive response. Like something, they've added to the tally of all things in the game they're looking into. They do not state it as an 'ongoing issue' as you're making it out to be, in fact, they say that the lack of information isn't the problem in SoloQ in comparison to SWF, but rather a lack of team play.

Which is a very interesting statement. Let's focus on that for a moment! The difference between SoloQ and SWF when it comes to the amount of information you have:

SWF can let one another know about their whereabouts/actions/anything in regards to the killer that they know of, e.g. their perks, add-ons, killer's gameplay, or anything else for that matter that a SWF can deduct. Now let's take a trial and insert only SoloQ players, what's the difference? Mostly, the amount of information you have, whether that concerns your teammates' skill, perks, general knowledge of the game, or the information they give one another at any given time during a trial. Let's say the killer is hard-tunneling at 5 gens, most SWF's know to focus hard on gens, same as with face-camping, you'd focus on the gens and try to get them done as fast as possible. In SoloQ however not everyone knows that or does that, some just straight-up give up and DC because it has been the umpteenth killer hard-tunneling in a game. Which is admittedly something that's hard to fix.

Yes, some SoloQ players play selfishly, they don't care all that much for teamplay or have the mindset of them versus everyone else. But that is certainly not the case for most SoloQ-players, at least not in my experience. So it's not enough of an argument to just dismiss the entire player base because of it. And if it is for BHVR, that's fair enough, but then I for one at least know to not bother playing their game for much longer.

  • @mikewelk said:

My SoloQ games were so bad I hopped on as Ghostface and just meme-ed around and it was insane how many survivors were being very kind and thankful for not being hard-tunneled for once during the event like that oughts to say something.

I don't know about EGS but on Console you literally do have a profile and it's even easier to harrass and knock people offline.

I used to play on EG before BHVR made it possible to merge an EG account with Steam, you don't see much of anything on EG.

As for console, a friend of mine plays on PS5 and they said they never see comments or get harassed through their profile, so I went off their experience. Sounds like yours is different, so I stand corrected on that one.

  • I find that it differs a lot on which servers you play.

EU servers are full of toxic people, who will go through the trouble of adding you on steam just to insult you, your family and so on, some will even get their friends in on it and mass spam you. I've also been doxxed, targeted by a player (turned out to be a cheater).

When I play on NA servers it's like playing on cruise-control, people are chill and know that it's JUST a game.

You'll be fine if you play on Epic Games or Console, there is no chat, and you don't have a profile, so people can't harass you.

I heard that there is the cheat program that makes opponents to be disconnected. There are very diverse cheats in DBD.

If that's the case then it's happening way too often and should be looked into.

  • You cannot force someone to stay in a game. Also, DC penalties apply to those who legitimately DC because of being disconnected from the dedicated server, which has been happening A LOT lately. Or because their ping is too high. Game crashing and so on. So to up the DC penalties even in those cases will result in driving more and more players away. Less players means less revenue and that's bad for business.

Some perks and offerings play around the 4%, getting rid of the 4% would mean having to get rid of those as well and replace them with something else, which is something I doubt will happen anytime soon.
