That is not the full picture. There are situations where latency works in the survivor's favor. Mainly grabs. Grabs often get validated into hits that will miss their target. If your ping is bad, don't blame the killer for that.

I've seen some weird hits happen and I'd be happy to see those dealt with as long as it doesn't make survivors completely unhittable near pallets and vaults (I don't want to go back there, horrible times!).

DH is different from that. It's a meta perk that made this game incredibly stale. It took years and several killer meta perks to even get some changes to it. Now they change it again at the price of Pain Res, Overcharge, CoB and it's still not even a dead perk. Unlike these 3 killer perks. They aren't worth a perk slot anymore.

OP said that they have 20-25ms ping, how is that bad ping? The fault lays with the servers/game that pits people with fastly different pings together in one lobby.

The change to PR, COB, Overcharge etc. is mostly because of the massive nerf to base healing time and the medkits in general. You cannot expect survivors to do 5 gens, with nerfed healing, no CoH, and have the PR COB and Overcharge as they are now. That would obliterate SoloQ. Good swf players will probably be fine.

  • No.

If you were to immediately hook the first Yui right after they'd gotten unhooked then yes. But once healed everyone is fair game, let alone the fact that you downed/hooked another survivor in the meantime.

  • @Carth said:

From my understanding It still uses the p2p style of code where the killers client claiming they hit you = you get hit. The only exceptions to this are pallet drops and dead hard. Those two use the server in the middle to make a determination.

    This ^

I think it might also have to do with whether the players load into your lobby (with your ping) or you into theirs (with their ping), not 100% sure though.

  • Players that say that probably don't play both sides equally, and if they do, it still depends on which killers they play/main. For example take Nurse being easiest atm? Maybe, sure. But Billy? Freddy? And so on, not so much.

One of the most interestings meta shake ups I've ever seen. Even to the intended playstyles holy damn.

6.1.0 is little boy compared to this

What playstyles? There's only tunneling off the bat and nothing else. The amount of nurses and blights that tunnel off the bat has gotten boring so fast.

  • Yes, it is very annoying when this happens to say the least.

I had this happen whilst opening the exit gate, being body-blocked there and the killer being bugged because they were playing Twins and couldn't help out either 😅

I've said this before but survivors really need to lose collision with another and only have it when it's because of a prompt like unhooking/healing, and if you're refusing it it should stop and allow you to go through one another.

We have very detailed dashboards that show not only pick rates, but also win rates for each perk and/or loadout. When something is not only used often but also makes people far more likely to win, it's a sign that it's doing far more than other perks. Ideally people should be winning their matches because they played well, not because they put on the strongest stuff. That said, data isn't everything. Each of the perks in this next update had no shortage of complaints.

The alternative of leaving them as is leads to a meta that becomes very stale after a while. When there's so many perks in the game, it can get a bit boring to play against the same dozen or so over and over. Over the past year or so, we've been making sure that any emerging metas don't stick around too long.

But some of the changes to these perks, along with others e.g. overall buffs to killers, gen times, and so on have pushed the game into a certain direction, which subsequently has made certain playstyles way too prevalent. Like tunneling, face-camping, holding a 3-gen and refusing to take chase. Playstyles like these force players to use perks that helps them out of these type of situations. But then the pick-rates of those perks go up, they became meta, and get nerfed and the vicious cycle goes on.

Do the Devs take into consideration as to why certain perks become meta all of a sudden whilst making such changes? Because quite frankly it doesn't seem like they do.

Oh and don't discuss specific cases of moderation/suspension/banning. Saying "I was suspended for so and so which I disagree with etc." will get you resuspended.

As you're a newer member on the forum, your account has this certain limitation. If you edit your posts, then they go into limbo for moderation, in which a mod has to manually authorise your posts to be shown on the forums, which can take time. (I'm not entirely sure why this is a thing for edits and not all posts, presumably they think trolls will edit their posts to get around rules or something)

Wait really? I didn't know that edited posts would end up like that, I thought I was going crazy lol. I often edit because of typos, my stupid auto-correct edits things in my language without me noticing it at first glance, and then my post disappears.. that explains so much 🥲

  • With both base healing and DH being nerfed in such a massive way, they're either going to lose a huge playerbase or have to revert something about either of those two.

People who think hook farming and tunneling were bad before are going to be in for a surprise when killers will tunnel the unhooked out of the game, and ignore the unhooker in case of DeADHaRd 😑 and players with DH have nothing holding them back from hook farming 🤷🏻 SoloQ is going to be absolutely amazing.

  • Yep, it has been very obvious. Although I wish they would revert back Iron Will to being 100% silent whilst injured, though still make breathing noises, now that they butchered DH. Cus what are you supposed to do against good Nurses and Blights then? Marinate on hooks all game?

lmao okay, now I don't feel bad for laughing

  • Hahahah that was both way too hilarious and sad, damn *gives hug*

  • Aaahhh I really hope so, but my wallet probably doesn't 😂

  • No thank you, not in the mood for people using slurs or cussing me out in different languages all game the moment something doesn't go their way. They already do that enough in EGC.

  • There is no way the nerf to base healing passes the PTB.

  • The Devs clearly don't play their game in live lobbies nor play it for long enough. Because they have no clue as to what goes on and WRONG in their game. They only point at their "stats" and nerf/buff this and that. Sometimes hard nerf or buff something no one asked for, like Calm Spirit???? The new maps are horrendous with the amount of clutter, infinites are back and apparently, they are a'okay.

Making the screams louder and longer??? I swear it sometimes feels like they do that intentionally just to get a raise out of people and revert it, just so they can go 'see, we DO listen to you guys :)' 🤡

They made face-camping Billy viable again, whilst at the same time nerfing him. They have not once addressed tunneling and face-camping properly. And they sure love to buff Nurse, regardless of what anyone says.

    I'm coming after your Technician!

Didn't see that one coming, did ya?!

NOT Technician!! You stay away from that perk you evil monster😭

Jokes aside, can we please stop making every discussion post us vs them? Good killers still knew how to counter DH, and maybe it gets changed after the PTB. Because the way it's described now it doesn't deter any survivor from just straight-up hook farming their teammates just to get their DH, and the killer will just tunnel the unhooked because they know they don't have DH active, I honestly don't know how BHVR hasn't considered this... god forbid they do something about camping and tunneling 😅

  • Some of the changes are quite healthy, and some really aren't and they will further push the game in a direction that no one wants. But killers should have some advantage over survivors because it is a 1v4 after all, and they have previously stated that they want the kill rates overall to go up. But they always overdo their nerfs, and then go back on it afterwards. Billy somehow still got nerfed and Nurse buffed, as if she needed the buff 😅

The group that's going to get hit the most is SoloQ-players, and how is that anything new?

Also, I haven't seen killers use totems since Thana got nerfed... it sounds like you're a bit stuck in MMR hell :( Let's hope things get cleared up after the PTB.

With the new HUD update, it was more likely 40/60, as it gave ALL survivors so much information, unless you're brain dead. This up date will push the 60/40 back in-line with their views I believe.

Oh please, with the number of survivors DC-ing at the sight of in-game grass or deleting themselves on their 1st hook, "kill counts" should still have been high, considering they count in the killers' favour, unless the devs changed that somewhere along the line.

  • @Firellius said:

Yeah, the medkit nerfs made sense, and they could've taken a different route with CoH...

But CoH now legitimately no longer has a reason to exist, and ALL healing got sledgehammered with a 50% nerf. This is going to have a knock-on effect on perks, too, as I can't imagine things like BK, DM, EC and the like to feel satisfying to use going forward.

More toolboxes and BNPs I guess.

Every game is already 2 Proves at the minimum with 2 toolboxes and BNPs 😅 I had hoped that they would at the very least remove the ability to combine toolboxes/add-ons with Prove :/

    @sizzlingmario4 said:

I’m not sure why they felt normal healing was an issue. Medkit heals being 24 seconds is totally fine, they desperately needed to be nerfed. But base healing taking that long and even longer with Sloppy just makes healing very unappealing and not really worth it anymore.

Combine Sloppy with Coulrophobia, and Blood Echo and it will be a true menace to healing, enter the gen-jockeys. I wonder how Blood Echo will work against the new DH...

I think it will be extremely troublesome. Survivors have become way better in repairing without healing. Now there are no slowdown perks left, so... yeah. I expect really, really short matches from now on.

Jolt is still pretty good, especially on indoor maps.

Ranks don't exist anymore depipping needs to be removed. Grades are only supposed to show playing time not skill expression or luck. You can't control if killer decides to tunnel you out or facecamp you. You can't control if survivors will gen rush you with strongest tools either. Both things are out of your control and result often depipping.

friend. I am not assuming your experience or sticking my head in the sand by asking questions that would demonstrate the problem. Please don't take it harshly. its perfectly alright to be stunned, I have no clue how its happening either. But assuming we know the answer isnt the way either, we must examine critically.

I understand where you're coming from. That being said, I also know the servers I sadly have to play on and the certain type of players I sometimes verse. Be it killer-profiles with just numbers, completely private, and so on.

I've had 3 games so far on both Steam and 2 months ago EG as well, where the killer hadn't gotten a kill, and just as the last gen popped, I was thrown out of the game completely. Another time it was when we were about to open the exit gates. The chances of all of those disconnects from the game and their timing specifically, doesn't add up as a genuine game bug or DC due to host issues. The odds of that being so is very, very slim. Either way, I hope the Devs can actually do something about it, because it really isn't fun the way it is now.

It does not work that way.

I investigated this IP leak claim myself, its pretty shallow. How do you know the IP leak happened through DbD?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377950#Comment_3377950

Exactly I know what I'm talking about here. 😘

Because it has only been happening in my games whilst playing DBD on both Steam and Epic Games during the last few months, and I haven't had this problem with any other game, on both platforms. And some people were so blatant about it as well, let alone the amount of cheaters and bots this game has.

But you go on assuming you know everyone's experience and questioning everyone else, whilst sticking your head in the sand. I wish you the exact same experience <3

  • @Emeal said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/A0CH7YB6OK4M/image.png

But No bHVR isn't out there saying your experience isn't valid. Just that whatever happened isn't something they have found being a fault of the game... yet.

Of course they're going to say that. If they come out and literally admit that there is evidence of millions' players' IPs being leaked, for months, they could get sued for it. This is called PR and them doing damage control in the meantime whilst they sort their ######### out behind the scenes.

  • The thing that has been very noticeable is the fact that players have been saying, time and time again, where the problems are, given a ton of constructive critism, feedback and genuinely good ideas on the daily.

But what keeps happening is that it either gets swiped under a rug because of some nonsensical "argument" much of which have no basis in ANY other game, like adding an FOV slider, visual/audio improvements.

Why is it so hard to add the basest features literally every other game has?? Heck people have been asking for a search bar for the perks/add-ons for years, and instead we get more charms/skins for Feng 😅 The when people rightfully get upset, because it sometimes is like talking to a wall, they get banned from here as well...

The core issue is that the most important objective of the game on survivor side is boring as hell. Why not add other better, and more fitting objectives? Heck remove the whole gen idea and replace it with something that makes sense lore-wise, and adds to the horror genre of this game. Make the maps deathly mazes for all I care, have the survivors have to find multiple items to escape the building in Macmillan and then find parts of a gen to do them, while the killer is on the loose.

They should add several modes: with the option to play with 10 people: 8 survivors and 2 killers. Whether it's in customs lobbies only, or both, just add more options.

  • On survivor, I started with Meg/Felix because of their perks, but currently, it's an RE roulette but mostly it's between Los and Zarina <3

On killer, I started out with Wraith because it's very easy to maneuver around and learn the maps/tiles with him, then I switched to Spirit because I got too used to fast and stealth killers.

After getting the RE DLC I got hooked to playing Nemi, but it got to a point that a lot of people would DC the instant they'd hear his TR 😅 Since the last rift (GF's) I've become a GF main, and it's SO MUCH FUN playing him!

  • There were some games where he did tunnel, I watched some of his streams when he was recording all that. It doesn't matter though when people see tunneling as the most viable option.

    @Deathstroke said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3377676#Comment_3377676

Dbd needs 2 killer mode then you can both tunnel together one survivor out... That would be fun though.

Hahahha! YES, we need to have this. I'd love a GF and Myers collab!

I am all for anti-tunneling being built into the game, but it's really annoying when it's endgame, I've basically lost, someone gets an unhook and the unhooked person just body blocks and there is nothing I can do. It's so lame and it punishes me for trying to go after someone else. It's just not fun. The unhooked survivor should not be able to be hit at all, and just shouldn't have collision with the killer or other survivors. They are supposed to be vulnerable, and I don't want to go for them, and yet they will stand in my face to block me from going after someone else. It's so insanely free most of the stuff survivors get (being able to cancel animations quickly, not having to deal with the jank of cancelling your power making you useless for 2-3 seconds at a time. There are so many annoying things that survivors just get that killers don't.

And before anyone goes and cries "Killer main"

    1. I mostly play survivor cuz it is just easier than killer. It takes way less skill and the only thing that really ever gets me killed is bad teammates
    2. Playing killer should be equally fun as survivor. The fact that there are so many built-in rules that make playing harder for killer is absurd. Vault windows slower, can't vault pallets, can't cancel animations, can only focus on one survivor at a time, can't tunnel because of basekit BT, gates can be 99'ed, hex totems can just be destroyed and you're down a perk slot, most perks are really bad/too niche, running just chase perks (STBFL, Superior Anatomy, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Bamboozle, etc) is just not viable. Survivors are now going to get basekit Unbreakable now too (Again, I am for this decision, slugging is boring an unfun for survivor)

My point is, losing collision after being unhooked doesn't make tunneling easier, it makes it easier to go after multiple people. The way the game is built currently, if I'm not playing like a scumbag, I lose. I play nice, I don't use OP perks or builds, and survivors just spit in my face. Make some killer perks basekit, give them some love. I don't even care if I end up dying more often, just make killer not such a terrible experience

I want this to also be the case with teammates. I'm sick and tired of people body-blocking you.

  • @Pulsar said:

I know why people play like this. I understand that they've likely just come off of a very bad game.

However, holy ######### ######### dude. Immediately tunnel someone off of hook, hold a 3-gen, slug to death. I get it, you need a bounce-back game but some people get WAY to into this power fantasy.

    https://youtu.be/pEbDnFRyYFw

    https://youtu.be/m47AmGDDo30

    https://youtu.be/4FDF-UJdRmE

I'm not allowed to bleed out, my teammates won't pick me up and I'm definitely not allowed to play the game. This Doctor had zero interest in playing Killer, he just wanted to make other people as miserable as possible. Nobody was even good on my team, myself included. Jonah and I kept missing skill checks, David got instantly turbo-tunneled and Thalita wasn't even sentient for the first two minutes. She had three crows the first time I saw her.

It's just extremely frustrating to want to play DBD but to be unable to have even a half-quality experience with the game. I'm close to P100 and I want to get there but when the bonus is on Survivor, I think I'm just going to sit out from now on.

Have experienced this as well, the game seems to be in a genuinely bad spot at the moment due to a couple of bad apples ruining it for everyone else on whatever side :/

What I personally do after games like this is hop on as killer and play the type of killer I'd like to face, even put on some BPS and just chill/meme as Ghosty with the goofiest perks possible. And if the games after that are still against people who or set on ruining other people's day, then whatever I'll play Cyberpunk or any other game that is actually FUN.

  • @HoodedWildKard said:

So many threads complaining about this recently. And it mystifies me, I'm no killer main for sure, but not a surv main either. I play both rolls roughly equally. For a start it isn't easy to hit, you can force a trigger by running at killer but it only works against players who M1 at the earliest possible second.

Killer is the easiest roll by a longshot. My mmr has been throwing lots of extremely good teams at me recently. I see DH a lot, but I rarely struggle against it. Baiting it out is pretty easy in most situations, really the only time I lose decent time becuase of it is when it's forced on a pallet. You literally get within swing distance and hold off for one second, watch the dab then drop the surv. It isn't hard. This strategy has worked against players with 100days plus solid play time. My record being one who has played the game for over 300 days.

But the way I see a lot of posts on here complain about it makes lt sound like they swing into it constantly and lose a lot of their games solely due to this perk. So it's either a wider skill issue or just killer main mentality bias, hating on whichever perk irritates them the most.

Tbh from my experience the perk is an important one for game balance, it's probably the best (if high risk) exhaustion perk in the game. Game balance already tips in the killer's favour, without DH, or if it gets nerfed into the ground that gap will only widen and kill rates will spike.

They're not that incapable to counter it, they just think that if they whine and spam the forums enough, the Devs will nerf it again.

Some killers have never heard of mind-gaming, if they're whining about eating a pallet because they had to wait out DH, that's on their skill issue.

Why are you waiting to get a hit only when it's at a pallet? Stop respecting pallets if you see that the survivor is greeding it, we all know the game registers hits in the killers' favour. Bait it out. Mind-game it, or eat the damn DH.

If you're wasting so much time on 1 surv go chase the gen-jockeys, it's not that hard, and not every game is against sweaty tryhards or whatever USA abbreviated team of "law" enforcement. Nor are most players here playing a tournament, though they sure love to act like they do.

Heck you even have killers whose powers straight-up make DH futile, like Deathslinger, Legion, and even Pinhead with his Purple add-on 🤷🏻

And to whomever that asked how are "we" supposed to counter auto-DH, that's people cheating, and on the Devs to fix it, not the playerbase who is already getting doxed, Ddosd and facing cheaters on the daily.

  • I'd love it if Stranger Things came back.

Or if they added Alien. Maybe the AI from Prometheus or the creators even, there's so much content and potential there, and they could finally add a dope abandoned spaceship map 😎

  • This is a "mechanic" the Devs don't seem to care about at all. It has been in the game for as long as I can remember. Sometimes you won't even see the skill-check animation just a sound and obviously miss it.

Otzdarva has calculated the chances of this happening, as best as he could, and there is almost always a 7% chance of this happening whenever a survivor lets go of a gen; he has even made a video on it. This sometimes makes gens regress more than some of the killer perks lmao, but what do the devs care about fixing these sort of "mechanics"?! 🤷

  • It is still very much a thing. The Devs don't know how to secure their game or their player-base. Or maybe they just don't give an F

I’m glad they laid out the dev post like that. Good to see they are taking in all the feedback in and making changes to shift SM’s gameplay into something more engaging for everyone.

People tend to focus on the bad over the good, so that why they love saying BHVR “never” listens. There are times where it “feels” like they don’t, but I’m glad they are making it clear here.

It’s just a shame Twins didn’t get this kind of attention around the time of their release besides bug fixes and things that stopped gameplay abuse (holding Victor hostage) lockers to block Victor. Hopefully they get that rework/update soon. They feel clunky to play and always have, I love Twins but they need refined. Good to see SM getting this level of attention to the power so early on though.

They have said that they're working on the twins, and added that some changes take longer to implement than others. Considering the uniqueness of the twins, it probably takes longer for them 🤷🏻

  • are you playing in EU servers? Because, in that case yes, I've noticed the same and stopped playing lol.

  • To give you an example: I played 5 games yesterday, 3 of those turned out to have people that were hackers/exploiters on both survivor/killer side, the 4th game was the killer hard-tunneling a survivor from the get-go and refusing to down and chase anyone else, no matter how many hits everyone took and body-blocked. The 5th game was a survivor instantly DC-ing on first down, and one of the other survivors leading the killer to everyone else, with their bond perk :)

I've noticed games like this becoming the new normal, regardless of the time of the day I can play. So why should I waste anything on a match when the majority of the trials turn out this way?

The very rare games that contain normal teammates that actually PLAY the game, go fine regardless of items.

Killer is far better now than it was a year ago.

Well that's certainly a massive generalisation! For some killers like Nurse, Blight and maybe Spirit? Yes, it is.

For your average M1 killers it is not, and that's mostly because of the maps. When Borgo came out, it was an overly faulty map, the amount of clutter around and within loops was and sometimes still IS insane.

The fact that there are tiles with many pallets connecting to windows that connect to X amount of more pallets... those are the things that need some looking into. Map sizes should get looked at, new Eeyrie is so much more balanced. Don't get me started on the hit-validation on Garden of Pain, and the bushes... OP is right to some degree, the game needs more balancing, perhaps less butchering of certain perks and more MAPS 😁✌️

  • Play my mains Ghostface and Nemesis. I wouldn't feel any different, because they're my mains lol

  • New players can just look up the status-effects, as there are many of them. And if they don't, they'll learn it from trial and error.

There are so many perks and add-ons for every single killer the devs would otherwise need to adjust. Which would be a massive waste of time, when people can simply look at the killer's power/perks/add-ons and learn it immediately after said trail 🤷🏻
