Body blocking loops with ghoul is very unrealistic because he has a very big hitbox, not only is it really hard to pull off but its very pallet dependent to compensate for that hitbox. If you look at some of the best ghoul players live streams you would see this.

if you honestly think it is realistic you should have absoulutely no problem countering ghoul because countering him is much much easier then getting consistant downs with his body blocks.

Majority of this is just another way of saying

"i dont want to play the pallet game with ghoul" and thats fine, but that doesnt mean he needs a nerf its just a skill issue.

Just stop pre dropping pallets infront of a powerd ghoul and ul be fine.

Yeah, that sounds as you would say: skill issue
Go check Fictionisntreal on YT, if you want to learn how to actually play Ghoul.

But I guess Ghoul mains prefer to just bamboozle the window, vault the pallet and have easiest down of their lives.
His vault limits Ghouls to actually have any skill expression, because they simply don't need to even try to use his power properly in chase. Get rid of that, make it Legion's vault so we can see some plays from Ghoul mains that can earn respect.

Doesn't change the fact god pallets are useless against him. You can't really greed that unless he fall asleep while waiting for you to drop it…

This just isnt true, greed the pallet and know when to leave the loop. This is a skill issue.

Yeah, I know from experience that doesn't work on safe pallets. He can just pull his power back up and vault. That was first thing I tried when he came out.

Also not true, there is a delay for him going back into his leaping state, and that was done purposely for those situations, skill issue.

That's kinda the issue, if it is big enough loop, he can just vault the pallet or bodyblock with power and if it is acutally that small, then you can just mindgame it easily as 115%.

Not true, once you master greeding pallets against him hes very mid. As far as him body blocking not only is that extremely hard to pull off and isnt realistic. kaneki players quite literally make montages of the tech on youtube its essentially going for clips.

Well, now it's 0 skill guaranteed down tool… so much fun and people wonder why survivors just go next. Trying to get the timing and vault back was kinda my only reason why even try to play against Ghoul, I really can't be bothered now.

This just says alot about your mindset, you refuse to have to be bothered with thinking before dropping a pallet or vaulting, and much rather just completely make a killer useless by exploiting a bug. Instead of actually learning counterplay. DBD needs harder penalties on players who will just disconnect selfishly instead of refusing to learn something new.

extremely hard to pull off and isnt realistic

If you consider that to be extremely hard, then your standard is really low… Lopro flick was exteremely hard. Turning your camera, click in front of survivor and cancel your power is not…
It's also pretty realistic with his low fatigue and ability to just cancel the power quickly.

you refuse to have to be bothered with thinking before dropping a pallet or vaulting

not really, I tried a lot, just gave up, because ghoul mains are just all talk with no sense. I have spend a lot of time in custom to figure out animations, I have even tried to play him to see if someone will manage to show me what to do.

But no, only thing that requires skill on him is not needed (bodyblock in loop) and you even claimed it as unrealistic... His power level is not even close to his skill floor requirment, which I personally find to be an issue.

I would say timing the vault back against Ghoul required more skill than anything Ghoul does currently. What's even funnier, it was not without a counter, if survivor was injured, it was possible to grab them.

We will see, if it's going to be Oni situation again.

This is another example of people refusing to adapt or learn counterplay and instead mass-supporting calls to nerf a killer.

Kaneki has clear counterplay — counterplay the community has been vocal about for people to learn for a while.

Talking to players about Kaneki usually goes like this:

Player 1: He’s OP, nerf his vault or something.

Me: You can greed a pallet while he’s in his power.

Player 1: He can fake going into M1.

Me: There’s a clear animation difference. When his tentacles go back to normal, that’s when you drop.

Player 1: But he can vault windows too.

Me: You greed the window while he’s in power. When he leaves power, you vault.

Player 1: Vaulting a pallet after his pallet vault was the most reliable counter though.

Me: If you don’t want to greed, you can drop the pallet and vault it while he grabs you, then vault back over it.

Player 1: His leaps are so fast, he has too much mobility!

Me: Breaking line of sight is extremely strong against him.

Player 1: You can’t loop him because of his leaps.

Me: You absolutely can. In loops, he’s basically an M1 killer. Once you learn how to greed pallets against him, he’s very mid. His leaps can be used to body block in loops, but that’s extremely pallet-dependent and hard to pull off. It’s almost impossible in smaller loops.

At the end of these conversations, it’s always the same conclusion: “Nerf Kaneki.”

Nobody is quitting DBD over Kaneki. People don’t actually think he’s broken, they just find him annoying. And when something is annoying, the default reaction is to ask for nerfs.

The pallet vault bug fix was necessary. Before that, he was nearly useless against good survivors.

Killers like The Blight are still far stronger than Ghoul.

Kaneki isn’t OP. He’s just a matchup people don’t want to learn.

You can greed a pallet while he’s in his power.

Doesn't change the fact god pallets are useless against him. You can't really greed that unless he fall asleep while waiting for you to drop it…

When his tentacles go back to normal, that’s when you drop.

I would just say his kit is kinda too big for how little of skill is needed to play him.
I can agree bodyblocking mid loop with his power takes some skill, so I would rather focus on that part of his power. His current vault is just not doing that. That's just free down on top of free injury…

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that you may be new to the game and I don't want to come off rude, but the situation you described is in part due to a skill issue. If she yanked you off a gen you weren't paying attention to her phasing sound and the HUD. As soon as you heard her phasing and she had dropped chase you should have been on your guard.

Yes, in the right hands she can be a strong killer but what nefs would you like to see based on your experience?

Yes, in the right hands she can be a strong killer but what nefs would you like to see based on your experience?

Is phasing sound displayed in any way? Might be good idea to display it similar to lullaby

There is chance it is and then this post lose any reasoning, I am honestly not sure…

  • Nurse - can't see survivor aura while charging a blink, rework lunge addon
Blight - lose 2 tokens on manual pallet break, rework green speed addon

  • He wasn't really hit hard. I personal thing they could go harder on his worldbreaker duration.

I am glad they didn't nerf his vine attack.

  • I don't think he needs full rework, but some of his addons could just go basekit… Which one depends how broken you want him to be.
The one where he can just walk through his traps and they just get disarmed would be a good start.

No, it is 2s. Legion's is also 2.5s….

You're missing the point entirely and just seem to be looking for an argument so i will not engage any futher.

Never mind, I stand corrected about fatigue durations. Devs should still match the fatigue or nerf his vault…
Doesn't matter how you look at it, he is Legion on steroids.

  • It's already better version of WoO…

That perk would be good with just 50% pallet drop recovery, but it has version of highest picked perk on top of it for some reason.

  • Well, currently we don't know if they even continue with attempt to rework Skully, do we?

With last buffs (followed by nerf because screw her) they claimed if it seems enough, they will not do rework. (It's not enough, for me it's worse than before)
Rework was supposed to basically cost too much time, they don't want to waste on her.

  • I was doing achievements on him lately and I personally really enjoyed playing him again…
He is not really an easy killer with his unique playstyle, but he felt good to play for me. Unless guards decided to run into different map.

  • I don't really mind playing against Blights. At least I can respect the time player put into the killer.
He have limitations I know to play around. I will take him over Ghoul any day.

I would rework one of his speed addons and make him lose 2 tokens on manual pallet break. Then he is fine imo

Yes really. The 2s cooldown for cancelling kagune leap means that if a survivor is playing well, you are an m1 killer at loops. Spirit has no such cooldown, infact she retains a speed boost, she does not play like a basic killer at all.

You cannot apply your experience as Legion to Kaneki just because they can both vault a pallet. They work very differently. Survivors don't vault back against a legion because it wouldn't help them avoid the feral slash, legion can immediately turn around and hit them whilst they are vaulting.

The hinder is 50% for 0.5s, that's 1m of distance in total. At this point i think it only exists to give feedback to survivors that they were grabbed onto. Perhaps there is a better way of doing it but i digress.

This second quote is not something i said.

The 2s cooldown for cancelling kagune leap means that if a survivor is playing well

You mean 1,25 seconds? Which is probably lowest fatigue from all killers with fatigue?
For reference, Legion has 3 seconds. That's something where survivor has chance to reach some resource, you want to match that so your statement is correct? I would be fine with Ghoul if he has same fatigue as Legion, but he has way lower..

Spirit has no such cooldown, infact she retains a speed boost, she does not play like a basic killer at all.

But it is basic attack… Just showing you, that basic attack means nothing here.

This second quote is not something i said.

Oh really? I thought that he needs it so he can down survivors in reasonable timeframe…
If he doesn't need it to down survivors, then he can have Legion's vault.

  • @OrangeBear said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4060709#Comment_4060709

Because free injuries are useless if it doesn't convert into a down at some point. Whilst he can easily injure people, he still has to down you with a basic attack, and his cooldown means that he can't hit and run if survivors are spread out like they should be, so he has to chase people at some point. Enraged vault exists to pressure survivors into giving up safe resources earlier, so that he can start getting downs in a reasonable time frame.

Your suggestion makes no sense because if the survivor is already at the pallet after vaulting it, there is no cut off potential, they are already at the resource.

he still has to down you with a basic attack

Technically yes, but not really. He has power to get that hit easily.
Spirit also has to do it with M1, but she is not really weak for that, is she?

Enraged vault exists to get free downs on top of free injury. There is no skill involved and now survivors can't even attempt to vault back, which actually needed more skill to do than Ghoul, because of timing.

they are already at the resource

Most survivors don't know to vault back and try to run, which I know as Legion main. Also even if he has Legion vault, Bamboozle would still work to help him counter windows.

Even if you need 0 skill tool to down survivors. There is absolutely not reason, why it should also hinder survivors. You can't run away and you can't vault back…

It's funny to claim "he has to basic attack to down", while also "he needs better vault to down survivors faster".

  • @OrangeBear said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4060410#Comment_4060410

Helping with downing a survivor is it's core purpose. Repositioning on the other side of the pallet would be pointless, it would be better to just break it from the side you were already on. Making it so he would stay in his power also pointless because there's zero potential for a cut off if a survivor is already directly at the other side of the pallet.

Helping with downing a survivor is it's core purpose.

Why does he have free injury and also power to down? That doesn't make any sense…

I would change it to Legion vault and let him continue with dashes after it. So he can catch up on predrops and he can try to use power to bodyblock survivors around the loop (which is about the only thing he can show skill).

That's how you keep him a vault and create more skill expression.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

I still feel like Kaneki's vault should just be removed altogether.

Being able to vault back after the killer isn't really a good mechanic and I feel like if a killer is so strong that it's necessary to have that as counterplay then something is wrong/needs to change.

It would be fine if it was vault like Legion, where vault back is basically free. It won't directly help with downing a survivor, but you can use it for better positioning when you destroy pallet.

And in terms of Ghoul, "Legion vault" would still feel better than getting stuck on pallet. Ghoul's current vault is kinda main thing I simply refuse to play against him.

Nice change would be so it works as Legion vault (you can revault) and he would be able to continue with his leaps after it. So he coult try to go around the loop and block a survivor, if survivor tried to hold W or go around loop. Ghouls want skill expression so here it is…

  • @OrangeBear said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4059911#Comment_4059911

For what reason would it be kept? Please explain because i don't see how that would make sense.

    Completely agree with sizzlingmario4 ^

So it's not guaranteed down on safe pallets/windows. Kinda doesn't make sense for killer with free injury.

Just give him Legion level vault, so something happens, but it's unlikely to help with downing a survivor.

If they're waiting for you to drop the pallet then just don't drop it. It's like huntress. Even if you go down anyway, it's a better outcome.

Kaneki is faster and Kaneki even if you wait for him to cancel his power in stand off, he can just pull his power back in time to vault (on safe pallets) and now you just can't do anything against that.

  • Yeah, I was amused by this a lot

Yeah my bad on the name mistake

Hopefully the devs will notice like they did with Oni

Not like they fixed it with Oni… They just created new version, which is slightly worse but easier to do.

  • People acting like killer is not affected by survivors with high ping…

  • Lol, vaulting in LoS against any ranged killer will get you killed…

  • I have stopped playing killers simply because I didn't like changes BHVR did to my mains (Oni, Skully).
Currently I just play Survivors when someone invites me, but that's about it.

Funny how people here talk about BP bonuses, when they don't reflect queue times for more than a year at this point.
I had nights when I stopped with survivors, because I refuse to wait more than 5 minutes for a game, while killer is around 20 seconds queue time. (25% surv bonus btw)

  • Vaulting back was about the only reason, why I would consider dealing with Ghoul as survivor.

I am not going to play against him. Just go next…

  • You can't really say devs are good at fixing bugs… We have some very old bugs (looking at Twins).
Then we see it mentioned in patch notes, just to still exist.

  • I hate her last stealth change so much. Like she needed to be nerfed…

  • Yeah, it's definetly most annoying thing to deal with as killer.

Escapist was fine when it worked as a Sprint Burst. It's very broken when it's on a button.

  • That would be cool…

  • Oni was nerfed hard with change that survivors can pick themselves with use of their power…

  • I overall don't think it's an issue since abandon feature.

If you see it somehow that much, then just use perk against it…

Insults aside, killers are generally faster than survivors in almost every situation. I play killer often, and while free hits are great, it’s just as easy to walk around a single tile or kick a pallet and catch up to the survivor a couple of seconds later.

    I play killer often

    Sure you do buddy :)

single tile or kick a pallet and catch up to the survivor a couple of seconds later

Yeah, if you didn't look, maybe the image didn't render for you, just around that one loop are 4 pallets. Survivor can easily reach that pallet before you recover from kicking first pallet…

But hey, we believe you would manage to catch up in time, because you are just that much better.

  • @Roco45 said:

I mean, this is really how pallet spawns should look against A-S Tier Killers and this is an interesting 180 from the outright missing pallets Survs have had to endure for the past months.

I mean, first we had way more pallets as "QoL", then they went 180 and we had less pallets and some very bad spawns, now we have even more pallets than during that "QoL" change…

  • @ONSAN said:

*There is no rule that says you must destroy all pallets you knock down.

*It is up to the player to decide which pallets to destroy and how.

It may surprise you, but most killers simply have pallets they have to destroy in order to be able to down survivors there…

Even 50/50 pallets are better to be removed, so they can't be used later by survivors.

  • @ONSAN said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4055905#Comment_4055905

*You seem concerned about the high number of pallets. *The type of killer also plays a role in this issue. *Is there some game rule I'm unaware of that requires you to destroy pallets before attacking survivors, and destroy pallets before bringing survivors to the brink of death? *Is there really a killer out there who would try to destroy 20 pallets in one game?

Is there really a killer out there who would try to destroy 20 pallets in one game?

Not try to do it, but might be forced to. Probably best example is Bubba… Even if you try to mindgame pallet, there is high chance you will destroy pallet instead of vaulting survivor.

There are killers who can avoid even stronger pallets, but most killers can't really mindgame safe pallets and have to destroy them. Those pallets can often be mindgamed only if not dropped, but with this amount of pallets, survivors can just predrop everything.
Killers like Pig, or Clown have antiloop basically only if pallet wasn't dropped.

  • @ONSAN said:

*Just a quick question. *What was the outcome of the game when there were actually a lot of pallets generated, and when there were actually fewer pallets generated? *You may disagree, but in my gaming experience, I have never played a game where the outcome was affected by pallet generation, whether on the killer or survivor side.

*I think there is a different issue.

Depends on what killer you play. I never cared with Nurse, but I am definetly not touching my Legion with this amount of pallets…

I mean, of course you don't see a difference when you lose in both options. Fact you fail to see the difference between 10 and 20 pallets is quite telling.

  • @ImWinston said:

    • The survivor bots are terrible, but are you really having trouble catching them? The thing they should change IMMEDIATELY is their "I'll hide and crouch, the killer will never see me" mentality.🤣 I've never encountered a nurse bot, but I have encountered a legion bot (when legion was present in 2vs8) and it was a real nightmare.

Bots were quite annoying at the beginning, but they nerfed them quite a lot.
Survivor bots with flashlights were a menace. Also trying to hit them with ranged power was near impossible.

  • Rather than making vault slower for Ghoul, just remove that hindered effect… Outcome would be about the same, but it will just feel better for everyone.

  • They are everywhere… What do you mean good areas. 4 pallets around shack sound as pretty good area to me :D

    If I were you, I wouldn't talk about something I don't understand.

  • It would be cool, but it doesn't really help soloQ… Simply because as in any other online game, majority of people will either ignore it, or turn it off.

Just give me chat wheel, not that difficult. It would help a lot and it's used even by people who simply don't want to talk.
Mobile version had it, it worked there…

    Killers should hear it too

I want to talk too as killer :(

It would be cool as an event first and see how it goes.

Thankfully a lot of these maps you aren't gonna see often because every map is indoors now. Clearly this is a bug that the devs will fix.

So either I have to suffer in indoor map, or I am lucky to get outdoor, just to deal with 20+ pallets…

Yeah, luckily there is 2v8 now

  • Eruption can be worth, but you basically need rest of the build around it. So you have perks to work on kicking gens (Nowhere to hide, PGTW)

You have to be aware you are going to run out of regression tokens fast tho. Never use it with Surge…

It's not just for tunnelling, it's also so pallets are something Blight at least conceptually needs to be worried about. Having to wait for your power to come back would make being stunned very undesirable, as opposed to a minor annoyance.

Well, in reality it would be just punishing low ping players, because those are easier to stun…

It doesn't really make sense to me to make Blight 110%, so he has to use power and then create regular situation where he can't use his power.
Yet alone, when you get stun, you lost all your tokens. You won't really be able to mind game most pallets as 110%, so you will have to break the pallet to basically reset your tokens again. That's just not good.

  • @OrangeBear said:

I would rather there only be only one change : All tokens are lost when breaking a pallet. Because he will recover 2 pretty fast and he is faster than ghoul short term because he has no power to charge and no perceivable acceleration either.

Not a huge fan of making him 4.4m/s but i can see why people want it. I just don't want him to feel helpless when he's not using his power.

Because he will recover 2 pretty fast

Still way better than now... Should be often enough to reach pallet/window. You pretty much set it so it's same as when he uses his power to destroy pallet, which seems good enough for me.

Thing is you often can't really avoid destroying pallets, especially when it really likes to destroy the pallet even while survivor is vaulting it.

  • I would be fine with 110% and losing tokens on pallet break.

Not really losing all tokens on stun, that sounds terrible along with combination you walk slower…
If you want that against tunneling, it would rather be interesting change for DS to fully reset killer power.

  • How the hell we got from Chucky to Legion… They are not even close to be similar

  • Yeah, I was really surprised it wasn't a thing from start. That's kinda main sorting I would expect.

  • Another reason to just use Unforseen.

  • Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

but have increased the chance of it playing during the game

    Wow, such a high chance.
