This perk alone is destroying C and D tier killers.
I quite like how the perk is discouraging hit and play styles. When tons of people were playing hit and run Wraith it was awful, especially in solo queue, unless someone had CoH.
I can imagine builds for Wraith such as Sloppy Butcher, Knockout, Eruption, Deadlock/Infectious Fright with a slugging playstyle making a return, especially with a CoH nerf.
The UI improvements will help a bit now though. But so will the Haemorrhage (Sloppy Butcher) buff for killers (making survivors lose progress with their heals). So I'd imagine it'd still be extremely oppressive to play against. And boring, since you're not really ever chased - just downed over and over again when the nearby pallets are gone.
-
Very happy with this statement because I was under the impression that this was not the case. I wonder if this statement means that ALL limited time cosmetics from events will be purchasable with shards when they return, or just some. Either way, that's great. I can wait.
-
I've played almost twice as much DBD as every other game I've played on steam combined. Almost at 8k hours now. My second most played game on steam is CS:GO at 1800hrs.

It's crazy how they're literally cheating their own iridescent shard policy which states that og skins need to be sold for shards after a month has passed. However if you treat said skins as seasonal ones that one month instantly turns into TWELVE separate ones. This is so unbelievably dirty, especially since older skins are affected by this FOMO-practice as well.
Actually, I believe it's worse than that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this policy applies to seasoned cosmetics anymore! Makes me so, so disappointed!
We had it better beforehand, where some cosmetics would be available for shards, but some not. I believe ALL of the new skins from the winter event and this event are only available for auric cells - looks like a new trend.

The problem is bad matchmaking.
I wouldn't wait on the developers to fix it. The best thing you can do is every so often when you notice a good/amazing player, send them a friend request! Try to SWF with them. From there they might invite other good players, and so on.
I often SWF with friends, but often SWF with no comms. Think of it as fixing matchmaking yourself, especially when playing against an equally skilled killer.
-
Flashlights feel weird without them. For years I pretty much only used battery addons, thinking the rest were meh for some reason. But I usually use one of these + a battery addon now. Both given 25% range to the flash, which is great.
Also, I really like the Purple Flash + Broken Bulb + Odd Bulb. All together they increase the flash duration by 70%. Managing to get a chain flash or 2 with this is... amazing.
-
healing against a nurse is ill-advised
A few years ago I would've listened to this advice. But it is actually very rare to see a nurse use Nurse's Calling nowadays because of all of the good perk combos she's got. I expected her to have full gen slowdown or starstruck/agi + slowdown.
Maybe after her nerf, unless they're using full gen slowdown, Nurse's Calling might become a bit more popular though. I imagine it is still a really good perk for Nurse.
-
I used to play so much that sometimes I'm pretty sure I'd get it next day, or at least the day after that. As survivor.

Flashlights are as counterable as before.
Yea, I don't see what's changed except you can flashlight the killer slightly earlier now? It's not like survivors have been given more time to position themselves for the flashlight save. All past flash saves could be performed with the current flashlight "buff", with survivors timing it correctly of course.

I like looping and I know pre-dropping and holding W is boring but I also know that it is very effective in some scenarios.
For example, if I'm playing against a Nemesis and have enough time to pre-drop before he can hit me over the pallet with his whip, I might pre-drop - ESPECIALLY if he's still in tier 1. Think of it like avoiding giving an Oni his power. As long as Nemesis is tier 1, he still has to break pallets like an M1 killer and his whip doesn't have much reach so pre-dropping is very effective.
Once a Nemesis has closed the distance around a loop and I can no longer pre-drop safely, it's almost simply up to HIM to miss his whip. I can play my best and could still avoid it, - but I'm not in so much control of the outcome now, he is.
TLDR; Sometimes, for many different reasons and scenarios, it is simply the best thing to do.
-
I think choosing the map you want to play sometimes is neat.
-
Best idea I've heard is to spawn the survivor on another hook across the map if the Bubba is too close. Just like how survivors are spawned across the map to another cage if a pyramid head comes too close.
If anyone didn't know this, the "cage" timer is actually paused for a few seconds when the survivor relocates to another cage. Giving survivors more time to unhook them.
If this is implemented, they should make it so a hooked survivor stays put when all 5 gens are done, though.
Unsure how to deal with basement hooks though. And unsure if this could be too beneficial for survivors (or the dreaded SWFs) purposefully baiting the bubba to be near the hook, so another survivor can get an easy across the map unhook.
-
Timing a perfect DH against a killer that waits seconds for it. Yesterday I did just that, after calling the Huntress' bluff. At point blank she held her hatchet to bait my DH for a few seconds, then cancelled it and tried to M1 me. She got ded ard'ed. And yes she accused me of being an auto-dead harder or extremely lucky.
-
The 3 second stun is not good against fast killers. But against killers with no speed ability, if you've put some thought to where you're going down, it can be useful. Still challenging though, against anti-loop killers.
I've noticed a lot of my friends use DS over OTR and after using OTR for months now, I'm making that change too. For a few reasons:
- It works well with DH, unlike OTR. Even if you get hit with built-in BT, you won't have the mending status after DSing the killer so you can use DH afterwards.
- OTR is bad if the killer is REALLY tunneling you. They can hit you immediately off the hook, and instantly, you'll have no OTR and won't be able to use DH.
Of course, it has big downsides like only working for 1 hook, only being a 3 second stun and you can be slugged. Unbreakable mitigates this, though.
4 or 5 second buff though, would be nice.
-
- Show other survivor perks not just in the lobby, but when you open the menu (or somewhere small in-game UI).
- Improve matchmaking
- Not sure...
Side note: I wonder if people will start communicating e.g., by using the gen icon. Tapping it in quick succession 3 times = "you go get the unhook!" etc.
-
Boon: Blessed day
Whilst in the boon radius:
- Survivors are not affected by the Haemorrhage, Blindness, Mangled, Oblivious, Hindered and Incapacitated status effects.
- Prevents the entity from depleting item charges from dropped items.
- Slows down the timer for Endurance and Haste status effects by 20/25/30%.
- Increases luck by 3%.
If it's too good, remove one or two status effects that survivors are not affected by :) 🤝
-
- Unique
- Fun
- Progression and Challenges
More so because it's unique. No other game offers the gameplay DBD does and I very much like the gameplay. Plus, I like the community + the friends I've made along the way.
Wish I could play more but I'm so busy at the moment...........
-
I really hope there is an option to use the old wiggle system. I don't like the newer one and haven't used it at all since a week of its initial release, despite its 1 second wiggle advantage. Sure, I could get used to it but I'd rather spam A and D and chill with some downtime.
-
It's good and much needed changes. The best changes are the nerf to her range addons and making her blink attacks special attacks. The special attack change heavily nerfs a playstyle with certain perks but at the same time, Nurses can just use 4 slowdown perks and probably do just as good overall regardless. Still a good change though!
-
Honestly I don't mind too much - seasonal skins only being available to purchase at seasonal times seems fine. What I'm really really disappointed about though is how BHVR went back on their word with this:
At the time I naively thought "wow, that's an amazing change and it still benefits them to do this because people will play more to earn enough shards. And full outfits take a huge amount of games to be purchasable with shards. Smart!".
Unfortunately, it looks like it has been made as an excuse to not only release all original character outfits as auric cells for the first 4 weeks, but to KEEP them as only purchasable with auric cells if they are "seasonal" skins. I was expecting at least 1 or 2 outfits to be purchasable with shards, like usual (I think), but looks like that will not be the case anymore. And that's hugely disappointing.
Not even one of these "non-licensed outfits" are available for shards. Not one! And they never will be.
What made me even more disappointed was: I thought they made this event last so long so that after 4 weeks we'd be able to finally purchase them with shards after Christmas. Which I kind of thought, that's good enough. But, no.
-
I hit them more than I hit good skillchecks, I think - I don't keep count of course.
I've been playing for thousands of hours and when old ruin was a thing it was a huge benefit if you could hit great skillchecks. Plus, you used to get 1s off the gen everytime you did, whereas nowadays it's 0.5 seconds I think - so I'd aim for them for that reason too.
It also helps that I'm at a high (consistently smooth) FPS and have the UI large. I've played dbd on the switch and the input lag + low fps makes it practically impossible to hit great skillchecks (in my short time playing). So I'd only aim for them if I were you if you have smooth, high and consistent FPS.

Cherish the current Swamp maps before they're inevitably reworked and gone forever! They still have some resemblance of old DBD! For example, Grim Pantry is the only map that can spawn an old jungle gym with 2 windows open. Albeit only 1 pallet spawns, whereas there would've probably been 2 back then, it's close enough! Pretty cool!
Another variation of Grim Pantry can also spawn these interesting old long walls, with both long walls having a window too. (I'm 99.9% sure this can also spawn in The Pale Rose). Nowadays all other maps with long walls only have 1 long wall that has a window whilst another one has a hole. But again, only 1 pallet spawns, whereas years ago there was probably 2.
Edit: Maybe The Pale Rose can also spawn an old(ish) jungle gym but I honestly don't remember and can't check right now.

I would say reassurance should be buffed by x meters to the point where a survivor can stand above the hooked survivor in the basement and be able to activate reassurance. However, basements differ and some basements like the one in the main building on the Eyrie of Crows for example would require extra range for reassurance to activate, as there is stairs above it, thus elevating the survivor. Same with the basement in Thompson House, etc.
So the Devs should keep Reassurance at 6m, but make it so it does not factor in the elevated distance the survivor is away from the hooked survivor.
Also, buff reassurance so it can be used on both stages of the hook without needing to unhook the survivor and it will be a perfect anti-camp perk.
@Seanzu said:
Reassurance is utterly useless as it is, the time to get to from the generator that I hope you're working on 5 - 10 seconds, to pause my timer for 30 seconds, and then make your way back to the gen 5 - 10 means all it gives me is 10 extra seconds, if that, and if you're playing solo and can't communicate you're going for the safe then other people get off gens it's even more time wasted, at least previously one person could sit there and proc it multiple times until chased away, affording the chance for a save.
Since Reassurance came out it's been used on me less than 10 times and I'm pretty sure people just used it to use it.
I always use Reassurance and I often get value out of it. Instead of attempting a solo save, it gives my teammates time to make it to the hook after they've finished healing. Or gives us time to open an exit gate and then save. I can spend extra time finishing a gen before heading off for the unhook. It gives the team more crucial time to setup the bodyblock's needed so 1 can bodyblock whilst the other one unhooks, safely from the killers grab. Even now it's a very good perk, but it should be buffed slightly so it can be activated above basement and used twice on one hook without needing to unhook.
-
Old Deathslinger could ADS spam, essentially generating free pressure from having survivors constantly zig-zag (and thus slow down). This wasn't even completely necessary because he could aim and shoot his gun so fast that he didn't even really need to ADS spam, survivors would still be zig-zagging around the place anyway.
I think his ADS changes were good. You can still relatively quickly aim and shoot a survivor, although if the survivor is looking behind them and paying attention, at least there is a small time window for the survivor to react.
Deathslinger still has things going for him: He's good at zoning, very good at loops that can be shot over, using window loops against him is difficult or just not possible if he plays it right (TL, god windows etc).
-
It's kind of funny because the laggiest of the laggiest killers will hit you from the other side of the pallet and it won't be validated because they never got stunned by the pallet.
I always wonder what it looks like from the killers POV in these situations. All I can think is: this killer must think they're the best player in the world getting all these easy hits all the time.
-
I played a mix of survivor and killer between 2016-2019 ish. My mains were Hillbilly and Claudette.
During that time, I slowly lost interest in playing killer for a few reasons:
- I finally stopped coping. I realized that survivor was the power role and that was never going to change. Yes, killers had been slowly buffed and OP survivor stuff had been nerfed over the years (DS, BNP, insta flashes, infinites, too many pallets, exhaustion mechanic, vacuum vaults + pallets etc etc etc), but far too slowly. (Seems like killers nowadays don't realize how good they've got it, side note).
- I realized if I'm playing Hillbilly or another m1 like killer that I enjoy playing - if I vs a survivor of equal skill to mine, THEY and their mistakes will be the one dictating whether I catch them in a reasonable time or not. Not my skill. So... I thought to myself "why don't I just main survivor so I'm always in that position? As long as I'm skillful enough, I will dictate the outcome of the match if I'm chased".
- I can play survivor with my friends, I can't as killer.
- BM. It got to me back then and I played into the toxicity a bit - whether it was slugging or BMing that survivor back or whatever. Bad atmosphere. Although I'm very chill the rare times I do play killer now, I find it funny.
-
I run into a few people, sometimes - rarely. But the UK servers are a lonely place unfortunately.
-
Yup, it was a long time coming.

You can't report them on platform, though, and reporting them on platform is way easier than navigating BHVR's rat race of a report system.
In end game lobby you can find out who the 'anonymous' users are. Although if there's multiple it can be guess work to know which person was playing which survivor or who the killer is.
Anyway, when in end game lobby simply: Shift + tab > View Players > Recent Games. Note: You will have to close this recent games popup and reopen it for it to update new players again (if its already open).

If you check back on the support page, specifically the "my activities" page, you can find a list of all the reports you've made. See mine, for example. Notice how it says "Solved" instead of something like "Open". The evidence I provided was pretty damning, so it'd be silly if they weren't banned.
"Solved" doesn't actually mean any action has been taken against the person you reported. Tickets are always marked as "Solved" eventually, I'm guessing just for the sake of the support team to know which tickets they've dealt with already. You can however look at the steam player's profile if you've still got it (or their steam64id) to check for a game ban once you see your ticket has been "Solved".

I thought when Power Struggle was first released, there would be a new strat for 4 man SWF's - where they would use Unbreakable, Power Struggle and Flip Flop. If the person in chase is in an unfavourable position, they'd simply die on the pallet with another survivor nearby. So the killer either picks them up and gets pallet saved, or tries to chase the other survivor away giving enough time for Power Struggle. Lose-lose situation.
Presuming the change comes as is and that Unbreakable has unlimited uses, maybe this will become an actual strategy in coordinated SWFs. Especially for dying on unsafe pallets where the survivor knows they are about to die anyway.
In fact only Unbreakable is needed for this strategy if the survivor nearby waiting for the pallet save is enough of a nuisance.
-
So do you not pick yourself up faster with Exponential or Unbreakable anymore? I don't get it.
And I don't see the point of removing Mori's from Devour Hope and Rancor just because this new Mori mechanic exists, I don't get that change either.
Not sure what to think right now because I'm confused about a lot of it and these are some BIG changes. I have so many questions like, if a Bubba chainsaws an entire team, the game instantly ends? Whereas before maybe someone could have used deliverance or unbreakable?
Is the Mori triggered automatically? If so, why? This means no more 4 man slug races at exit too, right? ...
Right now if I get downed at the exit as the last survivor and have to crawl slightly to escape while the killer swipes their weapon, with the new change will I just be instantly moried?
-
I run it almost all of the time because it's a new fun perk to use and it has some good uses. However against good killers you will struggle to use Reassurance without being hit. It should be buffed in the following way:
- Allow Reassurance to be used once on both stages of the hook, no matter what.
- Buff its range slightly, maybe to 8 or 10m. It needs to be enough to allow for it to be activatable above the basement in shack. This buffed range will also slightly help avoid giving free hits to campers or having to get too close and die to a Bubba.
-
Playing in a SWF
slighty/moderately/considerably/tremendously increases the chances of you enjoying the game! I play in a SWF with friends almost all the time, mostly without full comms. We have a lot of fun.I don't feel bad at all because I also see SWFing as sort of correcting the matchmaking/MMR system. I SHOULD be queued up with these kind of great players anyway, even if the game won't do so when I'm solo queue!

A P0 Ada or Zarina doesn't mean anything, but a P0 Dwight or Bill is not a good sign, teammate-wise. There's always exceptions, but I'd say the pre-match profiling ends up being right more often than not.
This is why they should keep it as it is. I will dodge players that are playing a P0 character like Claudette, David, Laurie Bill etc. If BHVR is not matching me up with players equal to my skill level, at least I have the option of dodging the lobby. I shouldn't be playing with those players.
I also like how you can show off your prestige in pre-game lobby and I do like seeing other players dedication to a character, so would like it to stay regardless.

- 90s gens
- Basekit BT
- Small but needed buffs (Killers recover faster from hits, survivors gain less distance when hit)
- 33% reduction cost of blood web nodes
- Better prestige and progress system
- DH nerf
- Can soon purchase all non-licensed skins with shards
- More frequent double/1.5x BP events and double XP (shards) events
- 2 Mil BP cap
- edit: also, matchmaking incentives, monthly rank bp rewards
Good job BHVR
Keep it going! Next allow us to purchase bloodwebs instantly with 1 click and remove most bloodweb animations.

HUGE W, thanks so much BHVR😁

Yes it is throwing. Especially now since Pentimento exists and how NOED has been nerfed.
Against a good killer, you need all the time you can get. Everyone should be on gens or healing if they are not in a chase. There is no reason to cleanse dull totems other than for BP or to poorly try to counter NOED (unless you're in a full SWF, knowing you have time).
A few days ago a Feng was cleansing dull totems at the start of the match on Midwich. Unfortunately we soon found out the killer had Pentimento, yet we didn't know where she cleansed the dull totems (and btw she kept on cleansing more). She wasted a lot of time cleansing and bought a lot of time for the killer as I painstakingly repaired gens.
-
Do you usually play as a male survivor? If so I suggest playing a small female character (most of them are), it'll feel less zoomed in because of how much less screen space most of the females take up.
-
OK, you're complaining as if the perk DH got that survivor a free escape (even though they probably would have escaped anyway due to how long it took you to lunge).
Wouldn't it therefore be appropriate for me to say that I have no respect for you for using Rancor? After all, you got a free kill via a perk, similarly how you're trying to suggest the survivor got a free escape because of DH.
-
Claudette, I think.

It is split. Although when playing in a SWF, the lobby host determines the server.
My SWF will ask me to host the lobby sometimes because they say the games are easier in UK. And sometimes they'll want me to join them because they say games are more sweaty in 'EU' servers.

This doesn't seem right, I get matched with both Russian and UK streamers all the time. And there's been some Italian ones in there too.
Guess it could be down to VPNs but I dunno.
I'm in the UK and get matched with Russians as well. I'm not sure exactly which regions go to which servers, but it's absolutely a thing.
I find it sad that I'm missing out on playing with other players in EU or that I could have potentially not met some friends had I not met them through other friends.
Also I get great ping on both servers so I don't see why I'm just restricted to the UK servers. And so do my 'EU' friends. Wouldn't there also be better queues if I could connect to both servers?
-
It also makes stream sniping easier because the streamer won't know who it is. Not only that but I don't see how the "Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience" rule could be enforced if someone uses anonymous mode because how do you know for sure it's them over and over again?
-
Sadly my main Claudette is only P13. This is because I have only just now got all the basekit perks on all survivors. I can now fully concentrate on prestiging Claudette (although I am thinking of prestiging Mikaela instead...).
I have some friends that are in the P80's... I did not think getting all the basekit perks on all survivors would take THIS long. But I'm glad they've reduced the grind further recently.
-
Pig is my favourite killer to play as when I play killer. You have to play around many loops the good old fashioned way which I find the most fun. You get built in slow-down and she's small so can mind-game loops easier.
She's generally fun to play against too.
-
I will probably do what the player OP described did when solo q. There's no point playing, I don't want to play a match that is already lost.
That's just the way things are, unfortunately.
