  • Counter (if they are consistently doing it): Hug the loop, when you get to the corner keep hugging it as if you're actually still committed to the loop and time a quick 180 (don't hug the loop when doing this) when they do their flick around the corner. You'll avoid the hit.

If the blight catches on, it's basically a 50/50 mindgame.

  • Yea, I avoid skins with backpacks

  • Maybe after the killer has kicked a gen X amount of times, it is TPed and replaces the next closest already completed gen - the TPed gen keeps its progress. Its aura is revealed to all survivors and killer for 10 seconds. Repeat this process for every gen that is kicked x times.

  • Reassurance?

Perhaps that is not very underrated. I'd say WGLF is pretty underrated - it is especially good when combined with Made For This. If the killer is distracted for just a few seconds, you can punish them. Sometimes just the threat of a flashlight save will make the killer hesitate and give you enough time.

In some cases, you AND the picked up survivor will get the endurance status affect with the WGLF + Made For This combo. It's def my favourite combo atm.

  • They still need to release a perk that lets survivors burst through breakable walls!

I can't remember the name of the funny bug/meme below - there was one that was used (does anyone remember?). But that's me running around with my hands stretched out behind my back! Years ago there was a bug where the game would think you're still on the hook and this would happen. When you eventually died on the hook, you'd start falling under the map. Was VERY funny.

    image.png

    Booping the snoot:

    image.png

Myers ninja kicking a gen (I believe this is a real in-game screenshot).

    image.png

Myers with a chainsaw... yes this is a real, in-game screenshot:

    image.png

Idk if this really counts but there was an *interesting* dev stream with not_queen (former community manager) wearing this, questionable gestures also happend:

    image.png

Horvath is a former DBD game designer and occasionally appeared on the weekly/fortnightly dbd streams. He liked to spin his pen... people took notice and there is even a fan steam group about it:

    image.png

    Ugly old Quentin model

    image.png

Not so much a meme, but this was a funny bug in a PTB a few years ago:

    image.png image.png

Samination is a talented YouTuber who has made a lot of popular dbd memey animations:

    https://youtu.be/arEkqdiMKNI

Maurice is a beloved horse in DBD. She was taken away abruptly in a patch, but eventually returned! Players often pet her:

    image.png

Bjorn misspelled Mathieu Cote's (the Game Directors) name once (I think!) and so it became a meme to always misspell it or his title for the dev streams:

    image.png image.png image.png image.png
    • Soon TM is a popular meme. There used to be weekly and then fortnightly dbd dev streams - they were very frequent. The devs answered a lot of questions - a lot of them were also answered with "Soon". The questions answered with "soon" weren't usually that accurate! But the devs themselves started to say it as a half-joke/meme anyway.
    • "Ded ard" is kinda a meme - relating to the perk Dead Hard of course. The streamer TrU3Ta1ent said it often when getting frustrated with the perk and it caught on.
    • Also there was this other YouTuber/Streamer who made funny IRL dbd skits. One of the funniest was when they pretended to be in a BHVR meeting, planning buffs/nerfs. Can't find them!

There's more, but yea! I'll add more if I remember more.

  • @nars said:

Nurse is a balanced killer with fair and consistent counterplay. The only reason that you lose in 1v1 is if shes better than you. People just want her nerfed because besides blights addons shes really all thats left on the killer end that everyone wont flame you for wanting gone.

It's extremely overstated how hard she is to play. You can have a few hours on Nurse and beat SWFs with her that you can't beat on your main killer which you may have hundreds of hours on. Aura reading perks like BBQ, Lethal and especially Nowhere to hide make it much easier too.

People have always used the excuse that Nurse is fine because she's difficult to play. Even when she had a default of 3 blinks and no cooldown. She isn't!

  • I just wish BHVR made it more clear at the time of these events. It is frustrating that bit by bit, all the events I participated in the past 7 years are having their "exclusives" or "time-limited" skins released via a code.

What's more frustrating is that I lost my legacy 3 Claud And legacy 3 Billy due to a bug - one of the only cosmetics that seem truly exclusive.

Nowadays it's obvious nothing is really exclusive anymore, even if advertised as so. Not having exclusives anymore is totally fine, I just wish BHVR would have better communication regarding this.

  • In theory if you could somehow completely remove tbagging, what's next?

Removing nodding? Removing spamming gestures? Removing pointing the flashlight up and down quickly? Removing ability spamming? Etc.

You need to accept that BMing in one way or another will always exist no matter what.

  • No I don't find it enjoyable and was worried there would be a Wraith hit and run meta after seeing CoH and general healing nerfs in the PTB. Thankfully, they reverted the main healing nerf concerns.

If they had kept the changes of a default recovery being 48s, it could have been even further amplified with Knockout. Sloppy would have been insane too, possibly completely negating 30s worth of time spent healing yourself.

Hit and run wraith with no comms is already very powerful, with little engagement. It's definitely one of my least favourite playstyles to face. After the Wraith farms some pallets, the rest of the game is just you sitting on a gen hoping he doesn't come and if he does, you're getting hit/downed very quickly.

  • Lampkin Lane's main house window loop is very very good. Basically throwing the game unless you've got mobility to follow a survivor (that has a bit of distance) there. Come to think of it, there are lots of busted windows on that map. But all require a little bit of a head start to be used well.

  • @blmpride5 said:

There is not a singular hook where you can prevent survivors to get to it by blocking 1 way. So your made up scenario is totally fair

I believe a lot of basement entrances are bodyblockable on the way down, I've seen it happen once on 2 different maps. It's probably just not common because people don't think it's possible.

Right so duration is most important? And I guess green flashlight + batteries has the longest duration?

Double batteries are a waste. Either go for:

    1. Battery + Range (Lens addon).

    2. Purple flash + Battery + Blind length duration (Odd Bulb or Broken Bulb)

    3. Range * 2 (Both Lens addons)

    4. Blind length duration * 2 (Odd bulb and Broken Bulb) and Purple flashlight.

Personally my favourite is 1 and 4 (But Broken Bulbs are event addons u might not have).

99%the gate make the end game system totally meanless.

But TBH I don't really mind 99%the gate, the endgame system itself is already meanless, the timer is too long that even survivor spend 2minutes to die on hook the timer is still not run out.

Can we have the old remember me back?

I still don't got it why should they nerf it for end game system.

Survivors 99% gates primarily because EGC exists. Before that, it would only ever be 99ed if you were wary of bloodwarden. EGC exists just so that the killer can force the game to end.

So the fact that survivors 99% gates so frequently in the first place is already an indirect buff to killers. Depending on how close the chase is and the angle survivors are running to the gate from, it can mean life or death. It is a risk to open gates but also a risk to 99% gates.

    • More graphic settings that you don't have to go into the files to change
    • Seeing other survivor perks and addons before game starts (or in loading screen). Also, reveal them near the player's name if you press ESC in-game (or somewhere else that is more convenient).
    • Allow us to distinguish whether a friend is in a killer or survivor lobby/queue.
    • Allow us to turn off menu sounds (like the blood web noises and the background noise etc) (not just menu music).
    • Tell us who is still active in post game lobby (currently you can only tell if survivor players are still active in post game lobby by seeing their ping - but you cannot see if a killer is). Basically I want to know if I'm talking to the void.
    • Allow us to use the old wiggle system via an option we can turn on in the settings.
  • Too unreliable. You need to hope you're the obsession or bring another perk like For The People to force it for full functionality of the perk.

Also, it has upsides and downsides. At the start of the game and mid game perhaps it's fine the killer can see your aura. Maybe it'll help with some mindgames in chase. But if you're death hook or want to heal someone without the killer finding out or find hatch? etc. Then the perk becomes a hinderance.

  • Yes for the reasons OP stated. I'm not screaming from the roof tops for it to be nerfed but it just makes sense that it should be.

  • I never used Call of Brine, Overcharge or Eruption. Whenever I play killer it's all about having more or less passive slowdowns so I spend less time kicking and patrolling gens and more time in chases. It's also partly because I find it difficult justifying kicking a gen and allowing an aware survivor to W across the map by the time I'm done.

There are many good passive(ish) slowdown perks like Pain Resonance, No Way Out, Corrupt, Deadlock, Jolt. But my favourite build is currently No Way Out, Agi, Corrupt and Bamboozle.

  • Remove it or just make it so it only works so survivors don't benefit from aura reading perks or addons. Let them see all other auras.

Its called dropping the item in a convenient spot

Yea as soon as you know the killer has Franklins just drop your medkit. Doesn't work so well with other items though I suppose.

Anyway I was thinking it would have been cool since Medkit addons are being changed, for there to be an addon to help against Franklins. An outright counter to it seemed too much though, but having an addon that prevents losing any charges whilst on the ground would be cool.

The new CoH only increases altruistic heal speed so it doesn’t work with SC at all. I actually tried this on the PTB to make sure and self-caring in the boon provided no benefit.

Ah I see. Thanks for the info.

  • I wonder if Self-Care + CoH would be a good combo next patch? I have no idea how fast you'd heal yourself when in the boon radius with dbd maths though. Honestly wonder if it might be really good, since CoH is going back to its original 100% healing speed? Could add Botany too if its still too slow... might be interesting.

That's just way too situational, they've not nerfed it they've just made it obsolete 😂

It's a buff *from the PTB* version. I was prepared to no longer use DH but it's still very good so I'll keep using it.

Compared to the PTB version, it's much better for solo queue. Now you know you'll get it twice a game if you're unhooked twice (if u don't get 1 hooked). Also this version doesn't encourage rushing for unhooks to get your DH or having to coordinate getting ur DH in turns in a SWF.

With PTB DH there was no guarantee you'd get any use out of your perk slot all game and incentivised tunneling. Of course you may still not get DH all game, but it's still much better.

  • Well, I already use DS over OTR for this exact reason. So doesn't affect me too much since I always save DH for after DS.

I also use reassurance so if I see this coming I'd extend the hook for others.

  • Some things I noticed is that:

    • You can see other survivor perks in the lobby (as a survivor).
    • Can communicate with them in-game with a call-out wheel (e.g., "Don't save me!"~, "I need help"~, "Focus on gens"~ etc).
    • You actually get more graphics customization options I believe.
    • Of course it has what is now coming to main DBD: Terror radius visual indicator.

There's more but those are some cool features that I remember from the top of my head.

  • Here's a story:

Was in a SoloQ game for over an hour today. Maybe hour and a half? Me (8k hrs) another survivor: 9k hrs. The other 2 survivors, unknown. Killer: 1.5k hrs.

Anyway, she 3 genned with full slow down and even with all our experience, we did not even get CLOSE to breaking the gen. She never hooked anyone, just slugged. Eventually I gave up and stopped survivors from healing me when slugged. It was actually at that point when the killer noticed this, and picked me up and dropped me to stop me dying and went immediately back to 3 genning.

Eventually everyone gave up and she just toyed around with us for ages, picking us up, nodding enthusiastically, lining us up for a nice screenshot I suppose. And although it doesn't usually get this extreme, it's not uncommon when vsing Skull Merchant's.

Until the next patch I will not be playing vs Skull Merchant in SoloQ for longer than a takes me to realize its a Skull Merchant. And even then, we'll have to see.

  • Dead hard is limited by:

    • Exhaustion (and so some perks and addons will limit/counter its use)

It's first nerf and upcoming nerfs also mean that:

    • It is more difficult to time (shorter time window) and also doesn't work vs Deathslinger's power anymore.
    • It can't be used when mending (so certain killers and addons counter it, it also can't be used in combination with OTR or BT etc)
    • It is limited further - you'll have to get a safe unhook for every use of a successful DH.

So there's a lot of factors where you just won't be able to use DH - especially in solo q where you can't tell someone you want the unhook for DH. Also, if a killer decides to tunnel you and only you out first, you're not gonna get to use DH. Then there's also the fact you have to time it and it is still not 100% consistent.

  • Yea I've noticed this lately too. Knowing there will be community backlash with buffs/nerfs for anything, it's easy to just over buff or over nerf something and then say they've toned it down based on community feedback. When it's really the intended nerf/buff they were going for regardless.

I'm guessing they'll take the "community feedback" into consideration with the upcoming update and find a middle ground for base healing: 20s.

  • Nerfing DH is ultimately a good thing (which is hard to say because I use it all the time). But it's scary to imagine just how much easier chases are about to become vs great players playing top killers like Blight, Nurse, Spirit.

As DH is being nerfed, this will reduce the length of chases. Plus, healing and resetting will take longer and are more likely to be interrupted (likely nullified with a sloppy meta), - so killers with good mobility get buffed significantly. End game saves will be more difficult because of this too. The game for solo players will become THAT much more difficult.

I think if these changes go through, it'd be good for the devs to look at things like extending hook timers further, nerfing Blight's addons significantly, etc. If they could not follow through with one thing - don't put the base heal to 24s. Keep the healing of other survivors at 16s at base.

  • Less chances for unhooks end game, too then. Just leave... boring. 😒

  • I like how he mentioned he disliked the flash interaction change. I honestly think it's really dull, the flashlight interactions add a bit of spice to the game. The only one I agree with is Flashes not working vs Hag.

But the others are just removing a pretty cool part of the game imo which will I'll be very sad to see go.

  • I agree with Otzdarva when he says that people will become even more reliant on bringing medkits every game. Flashlights will have even less of a use than they already do. Keys aren't very useful and maps aren't good unless the killer has a hex. Self-care is really bad, same with the upcoming CoH. Inner Healing requires you to waste time.

One thing that might be interesting though, is if we see Resurgence and We'll Make It used more. Would only take 6 seconds to heal from hook with both these perks if I'm not mistaken.

But I'm guessing we'd really see more builds like Prove Thyself, Adrenaline, Sprint Burst, Vigil/We'll Make It.

  • @ehe said:

The thing with a meta shakeup is that theres supposed to be a new meta to replace it.with this patch, slowdown perks for killer are even viable anymore? They gutted the entire gen kick meta and pain res. On otz's tier list, formerly there were five slowdown perks 4 stars or above; now 3 of them have been obliterated, leaving just deadlock and corrupt to pick up the pieces.

and nobody likes dealing with deadlock.

this "meta shakeup" patch was really only a shakeup for survivors, with the long awaited dead hard nerf deleting it. Otherwise, it was a *complete, global saturation* of a killer nerf.

No more regression? be prepared to see wayyy more noeds. the gens are popping, so people will bring all the endgame bs.

Jolt, Deadlock, No Way Out, Corrupt. These all slow down the game.

The plus side is you don't have to actively manage or go out of your way to use any of these, except Jolt if you want to be smarter with your chases.

  • Meta is going to be Wraith with:

    Perks:

    • Sloppy, Nurse Calling and Infectious Fright/Corrupt Intervention and... Knockout/Jolt, or maybe Deadlock.

Addons (could be a combo of any of the below):

    • All Seeing Spirit (Keep track of gens survivors are on)
    • Silent Bell (Sneak up to survivors)
    • Faster movement speed (Keep up the pressure)
    • Faster breaking pallets (Keep up the pressure)
    • Seeing survivor auras (you can't hide)

Going to suck especially for solo q. Add an indoor map for a 100% win.

  • My biggest fear!

CoH, medkits and base healing nerfed - 24 seconds to heal. This will re-introduce a strong Wraith sloppy butcher and slugging (potentially with Knockout) meta. Solo Q will be awful, coordinated SWFs could cope but will be more difficult. CoH will no longer be the saving grace and medkits could be easily interrupted (especially with Nurse's Calling) and your healing progress gone with Sloppy.

I'm really not looking forward to this meta... and trust me it will happen if these changes go through. Once pallets are gone by gens it'll be:

    1. Hit
    2. Injure
    3. Leave
    4. Hit
    5. Down
    6. Slug
    7. Hit
    8. Down
    9. Slug

    And so on.

Even if you're on an open gen, you won't see the Wraith coming until it's too late due to his invisibility. The new(ish) HUD will help a bit, but not totally ideal. Won't be fun.

  • I'm really disappointed with the lightburn changes, will make gameplay more dull and more of the same. I can understand flashlights were too good against Hag, but the rest were fine and cool mechanics.

Whenever I had a flashlight in hand, I especially liked using flashes against Nurse with range addons as it could mess them up. Sigh. As for Wraith, it was difficult to pull off (especially if the Wraith played well).

They're removing flashlight interactions against Nurse, Wraith, Artist and Hag. But not Nemesis or Legion.

  • Wesker is one of favourites to play vs as survivor. And he's the only killer I currently play because he's strong and very fun.

The only thing I wish BHVR would change about Wesker is the -8% speed when fully infected. I'd like it to be removed completely, although tweaking the speed value to e.g., -4% would be better than nothing. It makes tunneling too easy and chases against fully infected survivors feel too easy. I think the instadown potential is enough.

  • I was hoping Meet Your Maker would be £20 but was likely going to purchase it for its £25 anyway... anyway I instantly got it after seeing this tweet lol 😁

  • I usually run: DH, DS, Reassurance, Hope. But will sometimes change reassurance and hope to OTR and Adrenaline.

Other meta perks you could use: CoH, SB, Prove Thyself. Deliverance and For The People are nice too sometimes.

  • Kind of controversial I suppose but camping and tunneling is kind of fine, IF the matchmaking is good. It has to be done if both sides are trying hard for the win. Good survivors can last in chase and a good team rushes gens. And DS, OTR, Adrenaline and Reassurance are super nice for mitigating those strategies.

I don't think 3 genning is good though. If you get tunneld or camped, the game can be over in minutes, so just go next. But if you get 3 genned, the game just goes on and on. And if you're not in a full SWF or only 3 alive? Best of luck to you...

  • 3 genning as skull merchant with full gen slowdown on a map like RPD, where drones can be placed on different levels to patrol gens has to be the most miserable experience ever. I played vs that a few days ago and it went on forever.

If you're not in a full, decent SWF, just go next. Saves you a lot of time.

    • When did you start/how many hours you got? posts
    • Nostalgic posts
    • Wholesome posts - Like explaining how someone cheered them up, or how they had a slug race etc. These are rare posts though!

    I also like:

    • Unique~ discussions - they don't have to be completely unique, that'd be quite difficult. But I like when a post brings up a discussion about perhaps something that isn't discussed much but is actually quite interesting. Like discussions about the wiggle-timer regression when being slugged discussions that briefly happened. Was funny because lots of people actually forgot it was a thing or never realized it regressed in the first place. Was interesting to hear people's thoughts about how the nerf would affect things, no matter how niche those scenarios might be.
    • Posts of players seeking advice against certain killers etc. I like to give my advice sometimes.
    • The Polls and Suggestions sub-discussions are pretty cool.
  • I was going to but am concerned about the shipping costs - they don't specify them, just warn me.

Even so, might be best to wait a few days because they said more comics are coming out, so I can order multiple ones together.

  • What if it had a really strange effect to pallets - once per pallet. So if the killer m1's a pallet that's still upright, it respawns at the next closest pallet tile. Could be used to move the location of strong pallets and could be used in chases.

May encourage pre-dropping though - although that's less time wasted looping - a bit like spirit fury + enduring. Also, could be useful, but also detrimental sometimes so the killer would need to be careful. Could also be too beneficial for killers if they try to 3 gen in areas that already have very few pallet spawns. Just a random thought/idea.

Edit: If it's too good - make it so survivors see the aura of the new pallet spawn for a few seconds and/or increase the recovery time when the killer m1's - this would also be unaffected by unrelenting.

  • Yea... I think me and my brother had the wrong impressions when building our first outpost - by making it too painful to play. It's a huge maze and difficult to traverse. You also have to go all the way around the back of the outpost to find the entrance.

I suppose we thought at the time, it was a really good outpost if no one could defeat it/could be bothered to keep running to the entrance every time they died...

    😬 oops

  • It's really awesome

  • Mobile forum is very buggy for me, can't edit my previous comment. Anyway, I wanted to add another one: Teammates taking hits when on deathhook or generally not hiding from the killer. Even if you're healthy and you could prevent someone getting downed, don't, unless their on deathhook too. Any good killer will simply start chasing you instead, which makes the situation much much worse

  • A lack of patience or game awareness. It feels like survivors nowadays don't really know the value of hiding from the killer, from time to time. A lot of the time survivors are just running around, itching for a chase. For example, these approaches should be applied much more:

    • Are you on an important gen you KNOW a killers coming to? Can't QUITE finish it, but it's 80%? Just hide. The killer now has two options: Kick/leave the gen and move on. Or kick it and look around for you, wasting far too much time even if they do find you - meaning other gens are being done. This situation puts the killer in a HUGE predicament.
    • If I'm unhooked and on death hook and the killer clearly isn't going for anyone else - they're almost certainly coming back to the hook. Let me walk away, to hide. Don't follow me or try to heal or body block for me. Instead, run to get the killers attention but don't make it too obvious. Sometimes I'll "poorly" hide, with half my body showing around an object, just to bait the killer - thinking they'll get an easy hit.
    • At the start of the game, sometimes it's not best to just jump straight on a gen. Just wait a few seconds and let the killer move on to the next gen. If all survivors had some patience and did this, the killer may be inclined to go a full circle around the map and finally stumbling across you on a 40% done gen when they finally get back to you. Plus - even if killers are well aware of survivor spawn points - you hiding well will waste A LOT of time (with no resources used), even if they do find you.

There's more, but yeah. And I understand that perhaps now more than ever, stealth is difficult. Lethal pursuer, that gen kicking aura perk etc. But it is so good in some scenarios.

You don’t like hit and run play style so what do you like exactly ? Tunneling ? Slugging ? Kick gen ?

So in solo queue you like playing against a Wraith (with the build I mentioned):

    • Which you can't see coming
    • You get slugged over and over again
    • You spend 5 seconds in chase each time once the nearest pallet to the gen is gone - either this or you're AFK hiding in a corner not doing anything to progress the game
    • Difficult to heal against - pretty much injured/slugged all game
    • Very difficult to co-ordinate against in solo queue
    • Constantly having the incapacitated effect (because remember, he's just kicking gens and downing people over and over again). Meaning you can't do gens, heal or even heal other slugged survivors
    • Teammates having to run around the entire map to find you because of knockout

So yes, I don't like that gameplay - which is why I say I'm glad CoH discourages this because you have a chance to heal throughout the match.

1 2 3 4 … 31
