  • I like the idea and have always wanted to kill with a friend, but I know that there are several balance issues that will need to be handled first.

Though if folks are insistent on the double everything theme, why not make it give double BP, all the time?

  • Isn't that tile used in the Legion Showcase for one of Jeff's perks?

  • @Fibijean Thank you for the quick response. I just have trouble forgetting the significance of her presence sometimes.

While I've got you attention though, I'd like to ask you a question. Do you think that the community would benefit from some map generation layouts? I'm making a survivor guide and plan on including some overhead imagery of trail grounds. I'm just not sure if folks will find the images helpful or confusing.

  • @me_mad Do you have other stealth perks on your primary survivor? I can try to help you, but I'll need to know what I'm working with here.

  • Well the nurse is in some ways a reverse Huntress. Rather than throw a hatchet you're basically throwing yourself. Maybe practice hatchet throws with Huntress, then use the reactions to figure out where to blink?

  • So has anyone tried using the power of the Irisdescant Button to make a debuff build?

Like, Unnerving Presence, Overwhelming Presence, Coulrophobia, and Ruin I guess?

  • Honestly? Pretty much anything can work on a killer if you know them well enough.

I've had success with Monitor and Abuse, Coulrophobia, Overwhelming Presence, and Unnerving Presence.

  • Though as survivor I might try 4 Saboteurs. Shred through hooks and they stay gone for a while.

I'd love to see a Feral Frenzy with that bonus.

  • I mean, if you think a Sabo squad is inbound you could try Hangman's Trick.

  • I mean, some sort of progenitor sword would be pretty freakin' cool.

Here's a video with the sword

The timestamp for when it shows up is around 1:16

  • @WickedMilk03 Are you certain the obsession is tunneled for DS alone? There is a tome challenge for hooking the obsession twice. Then perks like remember me, and that Ghostface hook one, exist.

You data might be corrupted if you failed to consider these factors.

  • @Unicorn Take a look at this build!

I personally find great use out of Franklin's and Sloppy Butcher though. Make M1 so annoying that folks prefer the saw.

Just wear the prestige head bruh it's badass, plus then the killer knows too lol

I refuse to accept that Bloody Jake looks cooler than Bandanna Jake.

  • I find most killers fun to play against. Though recently I've noticed I've had a great deal of fun disrespecting Plagues. Just slowing walking towards them through a stream on vomit. Granted I get the ^%&$ smacked out of me seconds later, but it's fun to act tough. (Also, how the heck is Jake vomiting through his bandanna? I am not sure of how he's doing this and it frightens me.)

  • The map is well designed for players that run with a plan and think ahead. However, if you just run around and repair generators willy-nilly you'll play yourself.

Like most maps, the key generator on Sanctum of Wrath is the center most one. Unlike other maps though this generator one of the most intense generators all things considered. I'd argue that the central structure is rather well designed. It has 2 main stairwells and a side stairwell for sneaky players. It features a fair number of vaults, however most of the vaults have openings close enough to them that allow the killer to punish you for taking a predictable route. The structure's basement entrance is in a fair spot as well with at least one pallet nearby and the narrow entrance giving survivors the choice to take a hit to buy their allies wiggling time.

The rest of the map is very similar to the Yamaoka Estate using many of the same tiles. However, I have noticed that the larger size allows for more variation from repeated tiles especially the pagodas.

If you're playing killer on this map you should protect the central generator as much as possible. Learn where the openings in the railing spawn to anticipate survivor routes and cut them off. Since most of the map is too awkward for looping a potential strategy is to take advantage of the Sanctum's position. Due to it's height and the presence of a complete outer railing you can use it as a watch tower to look for survivors. If you can prevent the generator there from being repaired you can benefit even further by forcing survivors to light up potential hiding spots and come to you. If you are a loud killer focus on the main stairs for ease of access and check back frequently to see if anyone dares to climb into your home. If you are a quiet killer feel free to lurk on the side stairwell and ambush survivors attempting repairs on the critical generator.

If you're playing survivor on this map you need to prioritize the central most generators there to ensure your team's survival. By fixing central generators you force the killer to commit to one side for patrols. This in turn makes the other side of the map essentially risk free for a short while. If you are feeling bold, repairing the Sanctum generator grants you more leeway with generator repairs and weakens the killer's pressure. If you are spotted by the killer you should immediately attempt to break line of sight and keep moving until the killer leaves your area. Since the low height loops are small rocks, bamboo trees, and a bridges you need to be careful looping otherwise you'll bump into a prop and then the killer's clutches.

Ultimately I'd say this is a job well done. (Minus the fact that apparently console players cannot see 2 feet in front of them on this map.)

  • I'm not saying killers shouldn't get to play. Heck, I prefer to play killer. It's just that survivors bugs logistically effect more people.

  • The reason folks get so huffy about survivor issues is because you need 4 survivors for a game vs 1 killer. So if bugs make survivors not want to play survivor, everyone suffers.

  • If players could complete multiple challenges per game, then the tome would be infinitely easier.

  • In general, whenever a new chapter releases killer queue times go up since folks wanna play out the new guy. Though outside of chapter releases your killer queue times vary based on what platform you are on. If you play on PC killer queues tend to be longer than survivor queues. Conversely, on consoles killer queues tend to be shorter while survivor queues are longer. Though the biggest determining factor is your rank. If you are a rank 20 then the rank system is trying to pair you with low rank players which are hard to find past the 20th or so of every month after the reset.

Worst case scenario, wait until the 13th then during the reset play enough of both roles to get to 15. This should resolve your matchmaking issues as long as you play each role periodically and don't let the resets push you below 16.

  • You do realize that healing via Self Care in a corner is not necessarily always a bad thing, right? Sure, if you aren't using a medkit or Botany Knowledge it takes a while, but there are hidden benefits at hand. Namely, since the SC player is healing themselves the rest of the team is free to do generator repairs.

If your allies don't need to stop repairing generators to heal you, then the generators will be done faster. There is another benefit though. Some folks like to run healing builds. I usually run Self Care with Botany Knowledge and others add Resilience to that combo. So sure, we're healing ourselves and it may not be as fast as a normal heal, however, because we can recover quickly without needing the team's help we can tank more hits than normal which might delay hook states and ultimately save the lives of our teammates.

  • NOED is basically reverse Ruin. Rather than slow the game itself, it punishes the game for going too quickly.

This having been said I generally only use it on killers when I don't have Ruin. The killers I run NOED on the most are Trapper and Michael. Trapper I used NOED on because in the past I was still upgrading his prestige level and his perk collection was inconsistent. For Myers, I generally just run a perk build that has multiple insta-down perks as a meme.

As far a I gathered, they do do QA testing. However they also made themselves a 3-months scedule for chapters, and nothing, not even gamebreaking bugs, stops them from sticking to that scedule. Because people will continue throwing money down their throats, no matter the amount of bugs.

To quote Todd Howard: "It just works."

  • You speak as if the poor folks weren't already in a rough spot.

  • The primary complaints of SWF are attributed to some outliers in the survivor community's bell curve.

The main complaint is that survivors that communicate with voice chat are blatantly over powered. This claim is based usually on an experiment conducted by Marth88 a few years ago where he and some other killer mains made their own swf group called "The Depip Squad". The squad used no perks and only relied on comms and items found during the trial. Despite the handicap of no perks they won the majority of their games often having three players escape.

While the experiment proved that swf teams have the potential to be unstoppable with proper coordination the community and BHVR rejected these claims knowing that the majority of swf groups don't act remotely like what Marth88 and his group was portraying. Furthermore this experiment backfired on Marth88 and the killer community in that his video footage, that was public, showed survivors how to play in the most optimal way without even needing perks. So then the survivor community took this information in stride, resulting in a more competent survivor cast, for a while at least.

    TL:DR

Folks dislike swf groups because they could either be as coordinated as a SWAT team or be exceedingly casual.

  • @Zagrid If survivors are rushing generators too quickly then I'd advise bringing along NOED. Sure, the perk doesn't have the best rep but, if folks start running it a lot more frequently then survivors should slow down repairs when they look for totems.

  • @Unicorn I find that when it comes to skillchecks the thing to remember is that you should attempt to press the button slightly earlier than the prompt. This is because it takes time for you to press the button and for the game to recognize it.

If you want to practice, try this website some Twitch fan made: http://mistersyms.com/tools/gitgud/index

  • @Unicorn Just to add a little more to one of Pain Reliever's points. Flashlights are a great tool to lose the killer during a chase. The key is to drop a pallet on a killer or a little early if you are a bit skittish. Then blind the killer during the break animation. Just remember that while blinding a killer disrupts their visuals/sight , it doesn't disrupt their sound/hearing.

  • This should help, if you can watch it.

  • Normally I'd say Spirit but recently she was nerfed so instead I'll say Plague. Why Plague?

"Oh you ran a medic build? Welp, now get ready for a match where 2-3 of your perks are useless!"

  • So intially I thought this was about Bill's "Left Behind" but after seeing the patch notes good God that's an awesome buff do No One Left Behind.

  • @DudeDelicious I gotta ask then, have you ever had Buckle Up be useful?

  • The META is only fun while it is used on casuals, after it's used on other meta users it is just depressing.

When you use the META on people not running the META themselves you have an absurd advantage. This let's you crush your enemies with ease and affords you several mistakes and removes all of the pressure from your role.

When you use the META on other META players the game just becomes a super competitive "Sweaty" match of intense plays where a single error will unmake you.

If you like competitive play, use it all the time. If you like chill games, only use it every third game or so and mix up your builds.

  • Just start to open one door and then switch to the other one.

  • @SaintsxSinners Fair enough, it was still scummy to portray "Naruto running knife guy" as a shape shifter or disguise killer when the community has wanted one for so long.

  • I take it you two are on console?

I guess the console players will be inconsolable during this patch.

  • I voted this up just so that folks can see my Prestige marker again. That way I don't have to strut in looking like a confused cranberry farmer.

  • Just like, fix the gens, they'll make I brighter.

In all seriousness I'm afraid this issue seems locked to consoles for some reason so I am not too optimistic about the odds that this will get fixed anytime soon.

  • @Brucecastro81 I understand that you are upset. However, Self Care is a decent perk.

The main rivals are Pharmacy and Inner Strength. Both have flaws.

With Pharmacy, your team could get to the chests first and search them all, making your perk useless.

With Inner Strength, you have to find (x seconds) and cleanse a totem (20 seconds) and then find a locker (y seconds) and stand in it for 8 seconds. There are going to be times where x+y+20+8 is greater than the time it would have taken you to heal with self care.

Finally, Bond the other common rival forces an ally to heal you. This might not always guarantee a heal though and may exceed the time it would have taken just to SC.

So sure, it seems bad, but remember, it alone is a decent perk. In addition, some folks run BK and Medkits with it, so it's not always slow.

  • Honestly, your best bet is just telling folks that you are going to do last minute hero. Most folks I have seen are more than willing to hook themselves to help.

  • Aside from their perks, Legion was a disaster.

The marketing for Legion was misleading. Their trailer (The animated short) could have probably been used in a lawsuit for deceptive selling of a product. Balance wise, they were originally broken(downing in Frenzy, then still broken (Infinite mending) and finally ultimately broken (It is ultimately better to not use their power then use it in literally every scenario.)

If it wasn't for the fact the Discordance is very good and that the other perks have their uses, the community would honestly still be complaining about them.

  • I honestly jumped ship to Starbound once I got the tome done.

I bought the Rift Pass and do I regret it? Not really. I still got lots of cosmetics and will get more when the next tome comes out. But whenever there aren't new challenges I am not playing anymore.

  • Hardest, Haddonfield and Red Forest.

Too safe on Haddonfield and Red Forest is massive.

Best maps, Lery's and The Game.

Small and indoors where I am most dangerous.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/101499/hatch-standoffs-are-sorta-back

Yeah this is complete BS when killers do this. I’ve had this happen as survivor where you’re pretty much expected to suicide because, well, what else’s can you do.

Hatch should be on a timer just like if it were open mid game with a key in this instance (last survivor alive so hatch opens). After the timer expires hatch automatically closes and starts EGC. Sure this places even MORE pressure on a survivor trying to find the hatch before the killer, but this would still be better than this total reversal of roles where now the killer is holding the game hostage.

    Can't you do generators though?

  • My best survivor moment was when I was facing a Pig as Quentin. I was looting the chest outside of Freddy's room under Badham when she just ran around the corner and stabbed me. I just took the hit finished my Pharmacy search and stared her down. She left and eventually I got hatch.

Best killer moment was part of a match on Crotus Prenn . I had lost a survivor and couldn't see scratch marks or hear anything. That's when I saw the crows. This survivor had left a trail of disturbed crows all the way to the shack. So I just witnessed a murder of crows fly down in a wave that directed me to the shack. I didn't think to check the lockers but the post game "You haz wallhax" told me the birds hadn't led me astray.
