  • We've got a form you can fill out for just such an occasion: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

You'd still need to report them in-game, of course, but this is the best way to attach a video to your report. This way you can keep playing with the video uploads rather than waiting to paste it into the report box.

There is a file size limit on attachments. I would recommend uploading it to a site like YouTube (you can set the video to unlisted if you'd like) and then posting the link in the ticket.

  • (I apologize in advance, I didn't get a chance to read the whole post, I'm about to head out and wanted to share some info before I did. Sorry if any of this is mentioned.)

As you've mentioned, removing perk tiers isn't the direction we'd like to go at the moment. It's a little easier said than done and would create some issues, namely that a new player would stop getting perks early on (level 14 for survivor, for instance) and then receive no perks at all until they start unlocking teachable perks at level 30. It would feel pretty lackluster.

That said, we do have a pretty significant change coming to bloodwebs with the next update. We'll have a blogpost coming out towards the end of the month explaining the change.

Will DBD be also released as a physical copy on a cartridge?

I believe this varies from region to region. Typically retailers are unique to a specific country, so while one may carry it, others may not.

(This should also be a little more clear as the release date approaches, we'll make it as clear as possible where you can get a copy.)

Is the Switch version like the PS4 and Xbox ones? Or will content be different?

More details on both of these will be released at a later date.

Making something UP is healthier for the game than making something OP. If its UP, ppl can just simply not use it if they dont want to. If its OP, ppl dont have a choice of not going AGAINST it. Right now, theyre not trying to make perks that are BETTER than the "meta" perks, but rather are on the same lvl. The buff they made to PGTW for example really made it more usable without making it OP.

This is true. If something is a little weak, that's okay. We can always buff it up until it's in a good spot (Pop Goes The Weasel is a good example of that). If something is overpowered, then everyone gets frustrated while playing against it until it is nerfed, and then more people are frustrated that we nerfed it.

To give an example, compare the outrage from Pop Goes The Weasel to Mettle of Man.

There's also something said about making a killer that breaks the game. To use the example of a killer that can destroy walls (which was actually a prototype way back), that can be a very dangerous thing to do. It can be ridiculously powerful, but then you also run into the issue of "How do you balance it?" If the power breaks the game, you often can't balance it in a way that's fun without making it weak or frustrating to use.

  • For what it's worth: The PC version comes with less content by default. Where killers like the Hag and the Doctor are free on console, they're paid DLCs on PC. The console versions are a special version with those bundled in.

I'm not actually sure where you're seeing $60. I just double checked and I'm seeing $40 (USD) or $50 (CAD). That's about what the other console versions cost as well.

  • There is no dev stream today, no.

  • I would chase the other guy if I accidentally downed the unhooked one, personally. You're risking getting DS'd, and by the time you hook the other guy, the guy that unhooked him will be long gone. I could either have two people busy and force a third to save or have one on the hook and three doing generators.

Not to knock the way you play, that's all up to you.

Should check on the use of MoM as a perk too. Bet it is at rock bottom. That was a hell of a bait-and-switch move on BHVR's part. Hats of to you, you got your money out of it. How you did not know it would need to be changed before putting it up for sale is beyond me. Either incompetence, or predatory sales tactic. lol

Wait, you mean to tell me that we nerfed something that was overpowered in a live game?

    Surprised_Pikachu.jpg

You should never buy something in an online game- any game at all- just because it's really powerful. Everything is subject to change.

So what do killers get then to counter hook saves? I mean, there's literally teams that follow each other and camp hooks just for the saves using OoO, iron will, insta-heals, and whatever else. I don't promote camping, but killers are practically becoming defenseless against hook saves unless your camping using insidious w Bubba, nurse, or are Billy. I know everyone wants to have fun, but how much weaker do killers have to be compared to survivors?

You could always hit them. Worst case scenario they get the unhook and you down the rescuer. The end result is the same, you've still got someone on the hook.

  • It's actually specifically designed not to work this way. Picture this scenario:

    • You hook a survivor.
    • Someone takes their time to sneak it for an unhook.
    • Your notice whispers is active around the hook, so you know someone's going for a save.

That's a green light to camp because you know someone's there. If it deactivates, you know they're gone. Meanwhile if they had just carelessly sprinted in for the unhook, they'd be long gone. It doesn't encourage good gameplay and would more than likely be used to camp for efficiently.

  • I would be all for it, personally, but my concern would be how confusing that would be to new players. If you weren't around for this update or you're not super into the technical side of things (a casual, if you will, the kind of person who probably regularly gets bloodlust), then it would feel really arbitrary as to which maps have it and which don't.

Let's assume you picked up the game today. You have no idea that the map was reworked. As far as you know, bloodlust just isn't working. You'd have no clue why.

I dream of a world without bloodlust too, but I do think it makes way more sense to do it all at once or not at all.

  • I actually just checked out of curiosity; his usage just gradually dropped over time. There is no moment where people suddenly stopped using him (e.g. perk gets nerfed, everyone switches).

Basically it's just what normally happens for survivors. When a new one comes out, a lot of people play them to get their perks (and try them out ASAP). As they unlock the teachable perks, they switch back to their main survivor where they already have every other perk. The older a survivor is, the more people typically play them.

  • There is a known issue where it will sometimes not activate when it's supposed to. This should be fixed in an upcoming update.

  • As mentioned by others, it could be legitimate. If someone loses their progress, support will return them an equivalent amount of bloodpoints. They go into a separate pool that is not limited by the normal 1,000,000 cap.

It could also be cheated, though. If you think something's fishy, you can always report it and we'll take a look. If it turns out to be legitimate, nothing bad will happen to them.

  • I was going to post the birthday crow, but Luzi beat me to it. I can't do it now or I'd just be a plagiarist.

Anyways, happy birthday! We're the same age now.

  • Quite a while back, there was a change that disabled most macros. When that happened, most of the bots disappeared. The few that did manage to get it working quickly get reported and dealt with by the ACM team. There's still people trying, they just don't get very far.

prestige has no value aside from cosmetics?

By an incredibly slight amount, yes. Odds are you'll burn more while prestiging than you'll ever get from the prestige bonus.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    how bout this:

anyone with a maxed out character will receive such a reward. if its cosmetics, it should be cosmetics for said character.

maxed out characters are P3 characters with all perks.

ppl with such characters really went through quite the grind to get them, i think that'd be fair.

But then people like me who don't have one teachable (in my case, Left Behind) unlocked wouldn't get the rewards. Or if I haven't been keeping on top of things perfect, I might have characters that are missing perks from the last chapter or two.

  • @ba_tetsuo said:

@Peanits Will there be any rewards given to those who suffered the grind, similar to the legacy clothing from the last bloodweb change?

I make no promises. I wouldn't really compare the two personally. You'd have to draw an arbitrary line between who gets it and who doesn't. Do you only get it for having all perks unlocked? What if I don't own a couple teachables? It's a lot more clear cut when you're talking about prestige, since that's a very definitive yes or no. Since we're talking about the grind of all perks, there's no good way to draw the line.

  • It depends. Slugging is a good way to keep the pressure up while you're doing well. If you have one guy hooked and one guy down, chasing a third means that the last guy needs to go make a save. You'll have nobody on generators. If you stop to hook the second guy, you'll often have someone sprint in and make that save while you're busy.

Picking up a survivor is a green light for most survivors, they know you're busy and that's their chance to make a move.

You definitely don't want to do it all the time. Someone can pick up your slug just as easily as they can unhook a survivor, only they don't lose a hook state from being slugged.

  • I've always been a hipster about this. It doesn't help you against the best teams when you'd need it most, it just helps you snowball against the guys who can't even hit a skill check. I've always felt like it was better to take the training wheels off and learn to play without it rather than relying on a perk that could be destroyed very early on.

Join the cult of PGTW, brothers!

  • No Mither, Self Care, and Solidarity are a given. Those give you absolutely nothing.

You might get some use out of Unbreakable, though. We can't have that. You gotta' swap that out for something else.

  • @Efra_Legend said:

The worst part is posts about this topic never get any traction, even though its a detrimental issue in the game. I made an idea post a while back where I suggested only having level 1 versions of the perk pop up on the BW and be able to spend BP on the obtained ones to level them up.

I remember before Legion came out the devs where exploring alternatives for perks accessibility and the bloodweb, but nothing ever happened and as of right now they dont plan on changing it, which sucks.

Whether they get traction or not, we do recognize that it is an issue and we are making changes to help with it. We'll have more news to share on this fairly soon.

  • We actually have you covered: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticketformid=191426

These tickets allow you to attach videos to your in-game reports without sitting there, waiting for it to upload, and then copying the link into the report box. You still need to report them in-game, but this way you can continue playing and upload the video later on once it's convenient.

Just be sure to report them in-game regardless, it is crucial.

(Also, while you can attach files directly to the ticket, there is a file size limit. I would recommend uploading it to a site like YouTube- you can set it to unlisted if you'd like- and then sending us the link instead.)

  • Those are plugins that are packaged with the Unreal Engine. This is also why VR popped up a while back. Sometimes when you update the engine, they slip back in. You can find those exact same strings of text, word for word, in loads of other Unreal games.

  • The math is a little off. This assumes you unlock 125 tier 3 perks on every single character every time before prestiging, and that's not the case. You can't unlock survivor perks on the killer, for example, and you wouldn't unlock all perks before prestiging. I also wouldn't factor in prestige as it is completely optional and serves no gameplay benefit, it is purely for those who want more stuff to do.

It's a little more like this:

    Survivor

    40 x 17 = 680 bloodwebs to unlock all survivor teachable perks

    65 x 3 - 40 = 155 bloodwebs to unlock all tier 3 perks on a survivor (after unlocking teachable perks)

    In total, to max out a survivor: 680 + 155 = 835 bloodwebs

Optional: +150 for prestige 3. Multiply if you want to do this for multiple survivors, though this isn't necessary as they are purely cosmetic.

    Killer

    40 x 16 = 640 bloodwebs to unlock all killer teachable perks

    60 x 3 - 40 = 140 bloodwebs to unlock all tier 3 perks on a killer (after unlocking teachable perks)

In total: 640 + (140 * n), where n is the number of killers you'd like to have all perks on. This is less optional as all killers have unique powers. Assuming you want all of them, that would be 2,240 bloodwebs.

    Optional: +150 for prestige 3.

In total, you're looking at 3,075 bloodwebs to get all tier 3 perks on a survivor and every killer, not 37,125.

With that said: We are working on changes to help greatly with this. We should have more details to share soon.

We are not planning on adding voice chat.

  • It is not a priority. It's one of those, "Maybe, if there's a way to do it well, someday" sort of things. It's not planned to be adding any time soon. There are plenty of other things we would rather do first.

But the thing tho, it's not a shooter. It's not Huntress vs Huntress while one uses controller and the other mk. It's still Huntress vs survivors (while it doesn't matter what survivors use) so there is actually no disadvantage if you really think about that from that perspective. It's just survivors want to keep it as easy as possible for them.

That's exactly my point, the survivors are no weaker on a controller. Only certain killers would be made more competitive (like they already are on PC).

  • I just play whichever killer I want no matter which rank I'm at. If I'm not good enough with that killer at that rank, I'll just lose and go back to a rank I'd be more comfortable in.

"People are mad about the summer event being cancelled. What do we do?"

"Host an AMA on Reddit that doesn't include any meaningful information!"

    "People are still mad!"

"Okay just give them double bloodpoints to shut them up."

If it was announced during AMA, even without a date, just that it is upcoming, this would look not nearly as weak a move and desperate as it does now

This AMA has been planned for quite a while and was originally scheduled for shortly after the 3rd anniversary, but had to be pushed back a couple times because some key people were out of office.

Back when we had originally announced that there would be no summer event, a lot of people had asked for a blood hunt. Like we said at the time, we would see what we could do.

Not everything has to be a conspiracy. Nobody's sitting here on a summer event twiddling their mustache while laughing menacingly.

434 votes and 1,238 comments so far on Reddit

I'm not sure what more we can even say there. Particularly on the first one, we announced that a change is coming, we just don't have a date for it. This is because there is no date for it yet. It is planned and currently in the backlog. Once we have the resources available to start working on it, we'll say more.

Generally AMAs are not meant to reveal new information, they're a lot more casual and tend to talk about the past. We mentioned right at the top that we can't talk about unannounced content. If you went into it thinking that we would be announcing a ton of new stuff, you would be very disappointed.

  • There is no summer event this year, sadly. The schedule is a little bit busy with all of the upcoming features and content. There will be a double bloodpoint event coming up in lieu of the summer event. We'll share the dates for it when we've got it locked down.

  • @drkiwie said:

Simple, unfair advantage against ppl using controllers

Not quite. On the survivor side, there is no fine aiming to be done. Whether you're playing on a controller or mouse/keyboard, there is no huge difference. It's all personally preference. If you're comfortable with a controller, you can do everything someone with a mouse/keyboard could do. (Maybe except moonwalking, but that's just for show.)

There are certain killers where it would make a difference, namely Huntress and Nurse, but since the survivors aren't any weaker, it's not exactly risky to give that option to killers.

But to answer the original question; it's not something we're planning at the moment. Maybe we can consider it down the line, but not in the immediate future.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/609431#Comment_609431

That’s because breaking pallets fast isn’t really that strong anyways. If you just go around breaking pallets all game you will lose to good survivors.

It’s much smarter to mindgame whenever possible.

Moving on instead of breaking the pallet only works on a very unsafe pallet. Otherwise, the survivor can stay at the pallet and keep vaulting it until you break it. The best option is almost always to break the pallet and get it over with.

Unless you've got that Meg that throws down a pallet and sprint away immediately, of course.

  • This won't happen. First, it's not possible on all platforms. If you're playing on a system that does not have an API that allows us to see your hours played, then we'd have to exclude that entire platform's playerbase (not going to happen).

More importantly, everyone is welcome to give feedback. This is a game for everyone, not just a select few. This doesn't mean that we'll jump on that one unpopular opinion and take it at face value, but we invite everyone to give their two cents.

  • None at the moment, no. Kill Your Friends typically takes a backseat compared to the regular game. The amount of people playing KYF is fairly small so we would rather focus on updates for the regular game.

That said, we have seen that thread (and even commented on it). It's all great, it's just a matter of priorities.

  • I would be very hesitant to increase pallet breaking speed too much. Keep in mind that you could stack this with Brutal Strength. If you were to do so, you could get a 45% faster pallet breaking speed. This is a pretty big deal because the rate at which you break the pallet determines how quickly you catch up afterwards.

  • What you're describing is actually a fairly rare bug. We are currently looking into it.

But that aside, if you ever want to report a cheater, you can do so by clicking on their name in-game after the match (or by bringing up the "pause" menu). If you have a video that you'd like to attach, you can do so here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticketformid=191426

Please be sure to report in-game in either case. The in-game report is crucial.

  • They're a bit of a touchy subject. They're good and worth taking, but they're also completely dependent on the survivor bringing an exhaustion perk to begin with. Moreover, it hurts the weaker exhaustion perks (e.g. Head On) more than it does the stronger ones (e.g. Sprint Burst). A perk that activates right away is almost guaranteed to go off before you can use that add-on while something like Head On requires setup and typically can't be used right away.

Previously, they were in a much better spot. Even if they were using a perk that activated right away, being able to keep them exhausted was very useful. Now that exhaustion doesn't cooldown in a chase, they basically guarantee that certain perks can't be used while others go more or less unaffected.

We can't say if or how they will change right now, but they might be looked at in the future.

  • I know right? I didn't come to the forums to read stuff.

You can ask anything, but we can't necessarily answer anything. Confidential stuff needs to stay confidential and all.

  • I wouldn't. It takes up half your perk slots and can be played around by dropping the pallet a little earlier. There's far more powerful perks that only take one slot, I wouldn't consider it to be game breaking.

  • It's actually a neat way to tell if she's actually phasing or not. If the beams starts to tighten like you're blinding the killer, she's faking it. If it doesn't, you'll know that she's phasing and the clicking of your flashlight just let her know exactly where you are. F.

(I don't believe you can actually destroy it with a flashlight though, she probably just came out of the phase at the same time.)

The thing is, most if not all killers will never kill the third guy. They will slug them and look for you. They will only kill the guy AFTER you pop the last gen because now it's a bigger risk to leave the guy on the floor and they don't really need the bait since they can patrol gates.

This achievement (along with a few others) need to be changed. I know you guys really don't want to change achievements but it needs to happen. Some of them are just stupidly hard or, as in this case, impossible unless you farm it with the killer.

We do not mind changing achievements, but there are rules to changing achievements depending on the platform. As long as the achievement is still possible, you might not be allowed to change it.
