Are you sure it wasn't GTFO?
No, that's not published by Starbreeze (and wasn't even a thing at the time). This was prior to 10 Chambers being created.
-
Back when I was a mod for PAYDAY 2, I was asked by the Starbreeze folks if I'd be interested in testing some secret upcoming multiplayer horror game.
... nothing ever came of it. Anyway, the alpha rolled around and I signed up. I got in and started playing from there.

The way I see it, it is possible (after someone with DS gets unhooked) for the Killer to go after someone, down them, hook them, run into the person with an active DS, forget in the heat of the moment that they were the last one you hooked, and inadvertently down them + pick them up + proc DS. At that point, you weren't tunneling them, but they still managed to get DS active. I know at that point one could argue that it should be on the Killer to remember who they hooked and roughly when (like one should remember not to place an RBT on a Survivor that ends up dying when you hook them), but I do think that it can show that someone who does not tunnel can still end up triggering DS.
You're not wrong, but I do think the key there is "forget in the heat of the moment". That is something you can work on to avoid that situation from happening. I've done it a few times, but these days, I play around that and don't fall for it as often.
-
I see the point you're trying to make, but it really is countered by not tunneling. If someone tries running at you at the last second to make you grab them, slug them for a few more seconds and it'll run out. Running out the clock isn't a big deal unless you are actually chasing them off the hook and have to wait almost 60 seconds.

But that's not too fair for the other consoles--unless you release something only they can get. I was just bringing it up because it seems a bit off.
It is perfectly fair. The console versions came out after legacy, and nobody on console had to deal with the old bloodwebs and lower scores. What would be unfair is making people go through a huge grind for legacy and then giving it to other people for no reason.

Is this being acknowledged? This is a ridiculous problem, this is WAY too dark. Not fun to play on this map at all because of it. Can we fix this please? Like, yesterday? Same for the old Spirit map. It's just too much. @Peanits
We are aware, yes.

Just going to drop an obligatory "Don't worry, we've read this" because our button isn't working.

Aside from those I would also love to see more tiny survivor/killer charms like the Claudette one, I would love a rose charm for David, and maybe some flag charms aswell?
Those would be great to have.
-
I'm assuming you mean with Any Means Necessary? If so, I'll have to bring that up with the team. That doesn't sound intended.
-
I wouldn't say never, but it's not very likely. That would be an incredible amount of work to create an AI that can somewhat realistically behave like a person. It's not like an FPS where you can tell them, "Go here and shoot the bad guys if you see them," you need to make them run tiles like an actual person would.
Not to mention there's a bunch of decisions to make. Do you go for the save, or stay on a gen? Do you do the totems in case there's NOED? What if the killer's using Ruin, how would that work? When does the AI give up and go looking for the totem instead of powering through it?
Again, not to say that's impossible, but it would be a ton of work, and that's time that could be spent improving the game as a whole.
-
No. They'll stay completed until you claim them, but you won't get any Rift Fragments from them since it'll no longer be the current Tome.
-
If you reported them, we would absolutely do something that. We don't tolerate that sort of thing.

I want an olympic gold medal for my Meg.
If the Olympic logo can't be used due to trademark then just use 5 squares or triangles - after all the Entity is just copying reality as best as it can, it's still a polygon!, it may think.
It's really bothering me how small and off center that logo is. It's like it wasn't even planned, they just slapped it on there and called it a day.

Legacy won't be returning. We explicitly mentioned that we wouldn't be bringing it back, and we feel it would be dishonest to go back on our word.

a lucky charm charm
I want three different ones so I can put them all on and yell, "He's after me lucky charms!" as I run away from the killer. "He's after me lucky charm" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I understand that, but it seems less complicated to fix one perk rather than fix something literally one every map, especially with how unusual the fix is.
All I can say is that it's not as simple as it seems. To give an analogy, it's like a house. If a window breaks, it may look really bad, but it's an easy fix. If there's something wrong with the foundation, you've got a big problem on your hands. There's a lot more going on behind the scenes in the game than what you can see, and a problem with a perk doesn't mean it's the perk that's broken, it could be something much deeper which the perk depends on.

Ok so let us test it during the next chapter PTB then
Again, to reiterate:
- People focus on the big changes, like the new content. For example, very few people tried the Legion changes during the PTB.
- It's not a controlled environment. You're playing against a new killer, you can't tell if Kindred is OP or if the killer is weak.
- Rank is not used for matchmaking on the PTB. You might be paired with great survivors against a new killer, or you might get bad teammates against a great killer. You really can't get a true feel for balance on a PTB.
If you want a realistic scenario, I would strongly suggest trying it on live. I'm sure you could get together a couple people from the forums to try it out.
-
I can chime in here. I used to be an ACM, one of the people who deals with those reports. It can take time depending on how many other reports we have, but we do check each one. If there's even a shred of doubt that they might be playing legitimately, we'll usually err on the side of caution and not ban them. If they are actually breaking the rules, odds are they'll slip up again before long, and this way we don't ban anyone innocent.
I would absolutely recommend reporting them whenever you can, though. Even if we aren't able to use your report alone, we can use reports from multiple people to build a case against them.
There shouldn't be any way they can avoid a ban, though.

So the wakeup bug applying to all actions was more complicated than survivors falling the floor after being basement hooked?
Yes. There's a lot more that goes into making games than you might think. It's not as simple as going into the code for Wake Up and unchecking a few boxes that accidentally got checked.
-
Doing a PTB solely for Kindred would be out of the question. I know it seems like a really simple thing to do, but making a PTB is a lot of work. Beyond that, nobody would play it. As is, only a fraction of the people playing the game will switch over and try the PTB, and that fraction tends to be even smaller when there's not a new chapter available. Add on the fact that there'd be no reason for killers to play it (it's only one survivor change) and you'd have yourself a pretty dead PTB. It also doesn't help that matchmaking doesn't consider ranks on a PTB, so getting an actual feel for it is next to impossible.
You can more or less test it on live, if you want. Get a full group together (preferably people you don't normally play with), have everyone toss on Kindred, don't use voice chat. That right there will give you the Kindred experience, and it'll be a more realistic representation than a PTB could ever be.
-
Quite a few have. I think Puppers even did it pretty recently. You can pull it off if you're slender, although any facial hair throws it off.

Clown Krampus confirmed, thanks
How could he be Krampus and Santa at the same time? That would be anarchy.
-
Not yet. We'll be enabling them sometime after the hotfix is out on all platforms that'll be using the new system (Steam, Windows Store, Switch). We wouldn't want to start the test if people are still falling through the world, since they could be left with no option but to disconnect.
-
Well that's simple. One was an easy fix, the other was not. If we can quickly find what's causing the problem, we're going to fix it as soon as we can. If we can't find what's causing it, we can't fix it.
-
I could see it. Although it wouldn't quite fit with his character, so I have my doubts that it'll ever be a thing. The Clown, at least, has the benefit of potentially taking up work as a mall Santa while he was on the run.
-
These sound pretty reasonable, although I wouldn't want to see mending considered as a healing action. That sounds like a Nurse's Calling nightmare.
I'll send this over to the design team to make sure they see it.
-
If I had to guess, the chaser emblem is the one you're having trouble with. Basically you get chaser points whenever you hit a survivor. The shorter the chase, the more points you get. When you're playing the Plague, however, the survivors are broken a lot of the time. Where you'd normally get two chances to bank some chaser score (healthy to injured, injured to dying), you only get one chance (injured to dying). Putting someone into the broken state doesn't count as a chase.
It's something we'd like to revisit when we get the chance. Other killers that can instantly down survivors experience the same sort of thing as well.

Then fix the Maps.
The Maps where BL was insanely strong are still not good at all for Killers. Haddonfield in particular, the Myers House can be fixed by having Doorways instead of Windows on the upper Floor and closing the Bottom Floor Window.
Crotus Prenn Main Building has 4 safe Pallets and a shitload of Windows. Whether or not you have BL, this is an insane structure. Same for Grim Pantry, you dont need BL for that.
It is kinda sad that no good Survivor Perks are coming, but gutting the few that are actually useable is a shame. Because with that we reach a point where only a few Perks are commonly used, and this is not good.
That's the end goal, although that takes time. It takes even longer when you have to design each map for both reduced stagger and normal stagger. We didn't want to do nothing in the meantime, so we chose to address it now.

This is such a cop-out response. There are a ton of perks like this one in the game that can create advantages for both sides, yet we're targeting really situational perks.. I don't understand this logic lol
I'm sorry if you don't like the actual answer, but having a perk that can literally make you untouchable in certain situations is not acceptable. There's a difference between getting an advantage and not being able to lose.
-
It could be used in some maps to make loops incredibly strong, or even infinite. While we don't mind it opening up some new opportunities, becoming basically untouchable is out of the question.
-
Telling the person that beat you that they suck. That just means that you're worse than someone that sucks.

I suppose the cat's out of the bag.

If it makes you guys feel any better, there is a happy ending to this story.
-
Nope, we're holding off until the fixes are in for all platforms that'll be affected by the new system (anything on dedicated servers). We won't put it live if it's not a good time.
-
He knows what he did. You didn't even see the rest of the thread. Just look at how much they spam.
-
We will indeed be consistent. As with other bugs that could be done without knowing, we won't be banning people for using basement hooks. That's just a part of the game. There's even a challenge right now that asks you to hook survivors in the basement.

I am really glad your team fixed those bugs, so THANKS! but...
The patch broke some challenges in the rift. At first the tab on the right reset to the old numbers before level 3 was changed, then looking at the tome reset the numbers to the new ones. Now having completed 10/10 heals for Lifegiver looks like it finishes it, but it cannot be completed/turned in because the game is looking for 15/15 I would guess. You can still re-equip it as your challenge, but I'm not sure if it will progress or just sit their unfinished.
It's being looked into right now, no worries!

Not exactly. Our data was nowhere near as detailed when the game first came out, so unfortunately that wouldn't be possible yet.

And what about giving everyone recolors of these event cosmetics? Just so we know who work hard to get that cosmetic and who got it for free?
Most of those cosmetics are recolours of existing items, so you've already got it. The only one that doesn't have a recolour in the game is the Hillbilly's hammer.
-

I got these and I lost them. I am was very upset when I did loose them but only to to find out I’d never get them again is very upsetting. So no. It isn’t fair.
That's the point; we found a way to determine through our data who played during the event so we can return the cosmetics only to those who earned them. If you had them, you will be getting them back.
-
While I get what you're saying, we did just give every 18 free cosmetics earlier this week. The point of giving people the event cosmetics was to compensate for the fact that people had lost them due to loss of progress. We found a better solution that would have allowed us to award them only to people who had earned them. I'm sorry if the free cosmetics we gave you weren't good enough, but this way is more fair to the people who put in the effort to get them.

You all recommending your crack timing plays are assuming this is SWF on comms.
I mean, doing one of the only two things you can possibly do isn't such a complex strategy. You're really faced with three choices.
- Do the left gate.
- Do the right gate.
- Literally do nothing at all and hope that you magically escape.
-
It just comes down to different strokes for different folks. If you play to win and winning is fun for you, use the meta to your heart's content. If you just want to have fun, switching it up with gimmicky builds is going to be more fun to you. I don't really think there's a single right answer, I fall more into the latter, but I don't mind taking a loss. Or twenty.
