  • Nothing has really changed, this is just the way things work. Cheats come out, cheats get detected/fixed, then people find new ways to cheat and the cycle repeats. We've always got a team working on it and we'll make sure to get them fixed and the cheaters banned as soon as we can.

  • The stream is going to reveal the next chapter, so the PTB is for sure going to be sometime after the stream, not before, otherwise it would spoil the reveal.

There's no date for the PTB just yet.

this guy who i reported didnt get anything on his profile. even tho bhvr support said they will "investigate"

Bans do not show on someone's profile unless they're permanent, and something like that isn't permanent the first time it happens. They start off short and get longer each time they break the rules, eventually becoming permanent if they don't stop.

  • Hey y'all. Just to clarify real quick, this message was only meant for mobile. People on PC and console should not have seen this message at all, and you won't actually receive the rewards. We're investigating what caused it to show up on all platforms right now. Sorry for the confusion!

  • We do. If you report them, they will be banned for griefing.

  • We've talked about this in the past, but we aren't planning on punishing camping since there are times when it's the right move. If the survivors are being aggressive with saves, leaving the hook is the wrong move. It wouldn't make sense to punish the killer for playing smart.

  • There's no way to consistently do it without fail. The odds of it working are always going to depend on how patient and accurate the killer is. Someone's who good isn't going to fall for it much if at all.

Some tips to do it better:

    • Spins: Go one way, then back then other and wrap around the killer. It's easy enough to just follow the survivor and hit them, but if you switch directions, they've gotta' keep track of you as you spin around them. Also try to be unpredictable. Don't spin the same way each time, maybe throw a fake spin in there every once in a while.
    • Fake vaults: Run out from the wall first, make it look like you're going for the fast vault. As you run towards the vault, face the window; it'll make it look more convincing as if you've already pressed the button.

Some tips to counter it better:

    • Patience. Don't swing early just because. Usually if they're spinning or fake vaulting, it's because they know they're going to get hit anyway. Don't feel pressured into swinging as soon as possible. Quick attacks make it way harder to miss.

But again, at the end of the day, it's not going to work every time. Don't count on it.

  • Nope, not in the slightest.

  • There is no way for the game to tell the difference between a legitimate accidental disconnect and someone choosing to shut off their internet for a few seconds to disconnect. While it's unfortunate that your connection keeps cutting out, we can't make any exceptions.

Define playing well. Mind games, moonwalking into a 180 swing, switching targets, hit and run, slugging, not breaking unsafe pallets, not chasing sprint burst, and using strong perks are all in my playbook. 7 times out of 10, I enter a match with 4 players already waiting in the lobby.

But ok, let's assume that I'm a bad killer. Why exactly does matchmaking keep placing me against these people? Why am I not facing players of my own skill level and rank?

That's exactly what this aims to solve: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795

  • I'm not super up to speed with creepypastas, but IIRC, Siren Head is massive and would tower over everything. You wouldn't be able to fit through doorways, so it wouldn't really work for DBD.

  • @CornHub said:

Honest question, but has anyone ever got twitch famous from advertising in their username. Even the more famous twitch streamers don't have ttv in their name.

Famous from putting that in their name, no. It's a way for smaller streamers to get new people to watch their stream. There's a lot of people out there with 0-5 viewers, so getting noticed in a sea of other small streamers is next to impossible. Putting your stream in your name gets some people to visit your stream, but the only way to get them to stay and keep coming back is to be good at what you do. They aren't going to come back tomorrow because they played with/against you once. You might get your start that way, but at some point you end up high enough in the directory that people start to see your channel more and you just end up growing that way.

  • Patience, practice and charging your hatchets.

There's going to be times when you're realistically not going to be able to use your hatchets, mostly around tall unsafe loops. You don't want to pull out a hatchet every time, you just want to get these out of the way as soon as possible. Meanwhile things like shack become a lot less safe since committing to the pallet or the window is basically a free hit.

Charging hatchets makes the fly straighter and way faster. You don't want to lob unless you absolutely have to (usually if you're right next to them).

But most of all, it just takes practice. There's no secret tip that'll change everything. You're not going to be great with her right away. Pretty much everyone you see who does really well with her put in a ton of time to get to that point. She's not easy by any means, arguably one of the hardest (if not the hardest) killers in the game. Don't sweat it if you have some bad matches at first, you'll get the hang of it eventually.

  • What you've just suggested is rubber band balancing. The worse you do, the more of boost you get as the game tries to level things out and make the match closer. It's fine in a game like Mario Kart where you're playing with a couple friends so nobody feels left out (the guy in last gets better items that jump them forward), but when it comes to a game that people like to take more seriously, it just leaves people feeling cheated. You'd basically be giving killers free kills (regardless of if they're playing well or not) and then speeding up the rest once they get their freebie. At that point the game is arbitrarily handing out wins without any regard for who's playing better.

Stopping the generators from going off is meant to be something the killer does, not something that's guaranteed by an outrageously long interaction until people start dying.

NoEd can be turned off. Why do Survivors not realize this? You can turn his perk off, and then you're facing a 3-Perk Killer.

What is so hard about understanding that? It needs 0 balance because it's balanced; you can prevent it from ever happening.

Unless you're too lazy to do bones, of course. But that's your fault, not the perk being unbalanced.

To be perfectly fair, that can also be easier said than done. If you're going up against a good killer with multiple slowdown perks-- especially on a map like Lery's with unsafe loops and very hidden totems-- stopping to cleanse five totems in the middle of the game is more often than not going to get you killed.

Granted, that's not always the case. Sometimes people will complain about it in spite of having ample time to cleanse the totems. In that case it's completely on them.

  • We actually answered this in the dev stream last week. It's not planned at the moment. We aren't against adding new gestures, but only if they have a practical use. We don't want to add things that are purely used to taunt people.

  • I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about. We do not control what you can or can't make your nickname. The rules for nicknames depend on the platform you're playing on. If that platform doesn't let you put a full URL in your name, that's up to them.

That said, though, there's no difference between putting ttv or twitch.tv. It's pretty universally understood what it means. If anything, sticking a full URL in your name is worse since it's more likely to get truncated.

  • While I'm not necessarily against it, I do think that's the wrong way to go about it. Surely if keys and moris feel unfair to go against, the solution should be to change them so they don't feel unfair, not to toss some bloodpoints your way so you forget about it.

  • Just for the record, all killers have the exact same lunge. It can be a little deceptive since his claws are so small, meanwhile other killers have large weapons (e.g. Trapper, Doctor, etc.).

  • Do you care to explain why you disagree with the point that was made, or did you just want to clip four words out of context?

  • For the most part, yes. There's a few rules to make sure it's a bit more fair, and any perk needed for the Tome challenges need to appear in the shrine for a week so everyone can get them, but otherwise, they're randomly generated. If you're curious, there's more details here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/163-the-shrine-of-secrets

  • I'm right there with you in the hopes that you get the perks you're looking for, although it's all down to luck whether or not they'll actually show up.

  • It's one of those things that sound very interesting on paper, but in practice, it would just create massive dead spots that you wouldn't realistically ever go to. Going upstairs in the ironworks would be a bad idea 100% of the time, for example. I can't see it really having an effect in a chase outside of new players who don't know any better since everyone else will know to avoid those places at all costs.

  • I'd definitely say so. She's got one of the strongest base kits out there if you're willing to put in the effort.

  • There's nothing wrong with it unless they're forcing someone to farm with them.

  • Nah, of course not. I haven't noticed any real difference between people with paid cosmetics vs. stuff that you can earn for free. Paying for stuff in a game doesn't make someone automatically better. I've seen loads of people who play a lot and buy cosmetics even though they're not particularly amazing at the game. All it tells me is that they enjoy the game enough to go that extra mile and buy some cosmetics for their favourite character(s).

Im not expecting a response but just fyi it would be really awesome if it were a x% bps applied at after the trial. Like p1= +25%, p2= +50% and p3 = 75%. Would make the grind for other p3 characters a little more bearable

That is an interesting idea on paper, although I do think that would discourage people from playing different characters. If you only had Trapper at P3, for example, you wouldn't want to switch to your P0 Hillbilly even though you might have more fun purely because you'd get way less points.

It might also be a bit unfortunate for the people who don't have time to P3 all of their characters, since they would be getting far fewer points.

  • First and foremost, you do you. If something's working and it's within the rules of the game, go for it. Your goal isn't to get a 5 star review, you goal is to win.

That said, though, tunneling often isn't as good as it might seem. Yes, you'll kill that one guy sooner. Yes, if you manage to kill that one guy really early in the match, it's going to help you out a ton for the rest of the match. But it can very easily backfire. I'm sure by now you're already well acquainted with both Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike; they'll both make it way harder to down and hook the same guy right off the hook. The entire time you spend chasing that one guy is time that the other three survivors that you're neglecting can spend on generators. They're all healthy, they're not being chased, the only thing they have to do is gens. Unless you kill that first guy really quick, the game is likely going to be over by the time you tunnel a decent survivor to death.

To put it simply, it's a 4v1. If you play it like a 1v1, those generators are going to be popping off left and right because you're giving the other 3 no reason not to. It might work wonders one game if the other survivors throw themselves at you or waddle around the map wasting time, but other times it's going to fail horribly.

  • I just want to clarify one thing; while we aren't planning to make it automatic, that does not mean that it won't ever be changed to something else (something other than button mashing).

  • There are no details revealed on it yet so I can't say for sure, but usually when we do something like that, we try to make sure that nobody gets excluded.

  • It can be pretty nice if you work it into a build. If you slap it on with We'll Make It, for example, you can:

    • Unhook someone
    • Heal them in 8 seconds
    • Get healed in 8 seconds

It's pretty nutty, and that only goes down with other heal speed bonuses.

  • For what it's worth, they're more tame than they let on. If you just stand there and let him stalk you for the entire match, sure, you're going to have a rough time. But it takes a ridiculously long time for him to reach tier 3 like that, so if you keep breaking line of sight, it's going to take him most of the match to get his power. That goes double early on when he's moving at 4.2m/s and it's very easy to keep that distance. Granted, you've also gotta' pray that your teammates don't just stand there and let him stalk them.

As for the Tombstone specifically, all you really have to do to completely negate that is hop in a locker. It doesn't let him mori you on the ground, so they either have to hook you or slug you.

That compared to something like the Iridescent Head where all you've gotta' do is throw a hatchet like you would normally do anyway and it instantly downs someone. There's no setup, there's nothing you can do to hard counter it.

  • Leader will be active if you do any sort of cooperative action. Even if they're not getting a action speed boost, them just being in range means that it's active, as they'll be receiving the benefits.

Though to answer the question, no, they don't have to be using the bonus for it to count. Generators will work just fine, that's how I got mine.

  • The killer ones definitely breeze by for me. They're usually stuff that you have to do anyway, like break pallets. Even something like kicking generators -- which I don't do very often -- is easy enough to do as you go.

Meanwhile for survivor, I try my best not to use pallets, so when I get a challenge that asks me to stun the killer X time, that takes me ages because I just don't use pallets often in the first place. Now I've gotta' get in the habit of not only using pallets again, but also getting stuns with them. That, or the challenges that require things like unhooks or totem cleansing where you're somewhat competing with the other survivors, which can make them more difficult to do.

  • As far as survivor is concerned, there's no major difference. Whatever you're comfortable with will likely serve you best. You don't need to have precise aim to vault a window or do a generator.

You might do a little better as killer with a mouse and keyboard, though, particularly with killers like Huntress, Deathslinger or Nurse that require quick reflexes or precise aim.

For a keyboard specifically, again, it all depends on you. If the keyboard on the laptop you're using isn't very good or feels awkward, you might want to grab a proper keyboard. I know the laptop keyboard I've got isn't very good and the shift key is tiny, making it uncomfortable to press and easy to miss. You don't need to go all out. Fancy mechanical keyboards are nice and all if you're typing on them all day, but as far as games go, it's not necessary. This isn't the kind of game where you need the absolute best setup to do well. Anything with anti-ghosting should be fine.

  • They might. It depends on context. If it's a complete one sided wipe, saying gg afterwards can seem sarcastic. I'll typically only say it if it was a close match, if I lost, or if the person who lost said it first. That way nobody's going to get upset and take it the wrong way.

I'm also convinced that some people out there think gg means "git gud".

  • Passive aggressive remarks aside, the anti cheat is actually doing its job in that case. It's detecting that some of your files aren't right and preventing you from playing. Chances are some of your files were corrupted in the last update, verifying your files on Steam should fix that. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

  • I gotta' say, I probably see more outrage about how people have these made up rules than I see people actually whip out these made up rules and use them as an excuse.

That said, though, there's a big difference between someone saying "I don't like ____." and someone saying, "You can't run this, it's the rules." Everyone's free to say what they don't like. It doesn't automatically make it a rule.

  • @Huanna said:

I can't use it at all. The bar with the toolbox capacity does not even decrease

If it happens again, could you grab a screenshot of the prompt not appearing while you're standing next to a generator and stick it in the Bug Reporting section? We'll take a look.

  • Did you already use up the toolbox? As of 3.6.0, toolboxes repair faster but are used up much faster as well. When they're fully used, you'll hold onto the toolbox and keep it if you escape, but you won't be able to use it for the rest of the match. (The same goes for other items as well.)

  • There's a reply box at the bottom of that thread if you want to reply to it. There's no need to make a completely new thread linking back to the original. Though since all you've said is that you want to make someone mad, I'm going to ask you to refrain from making bait posts.

Would you mind using the server info to tell us the probability of 4 solos and a killer finding the same lobby again?

That's not really possible. It's a nebulous number since it depends heavily on your region, rank, and time of day. It also depends on how many people are in a game vs. in queue at any given moment.

  • I just forget. The time between me realizing at the offering screen, "Oh, I forgot to use an offering." and the next lobby is long enough that my goldfish brain forgets.

  • That doesn't necessarily mean that they're in a group. I'll sometimes get the same teammates back to back for a few games.

Nothing. But how about remove the option to leave the game if you don't want them to in the first place? Seems like that should line up with DC penalties.

The point is; you can remove that if you want, but people still have other ways to disconnect. Removing the button doesn't stop it, it just makes it more difficult to leave if you ever need to.

  • That's totally up to you; different people find different killers fun to play. I like playing her, personally. I'd suggest checking out Scorpionz play her if you want to see what you can do with some practice.

  • What would stop me from opening task manager and closing the game? Or disconnecting my internet? Or shutting off my PC/console?

  • I'd say there's a couple contenders. I'm going to rule out the ones that went crazy (benefit of the doubt) or were forced to kill against their will.

    Myers

He's quite literally pure evil. Evil in human form.

    Freddy

The 2010 movie he's based on heavily implies that he had a particular fondness for kids. Not much redeeming there.

    Doctor

Even before he was a killer, he was zapping a shocking people.

    Ghost Face

He stalked and killed people long before being chosen by The Entity, went willingly to The Entity's realm.

    Oni

Dude just likes killing people, what can I say? He's got no chill.

Thank you. One thing tho, I don’t have an account on DBD with a password and everything. I have my ps4 account connected through it so... idk.

You don't have to worry about a DBD account, they don't exist. It's just bound to you PSN account, so if anyone managed to get into your PSN account, they'd be able to make purchases. (Sorry, I probably should have been clearer.)

  • DBD doesn't make any purchases automatically (there's no recurring payments, i.e. a subscription). You shouldn't be getting charged for anything unless you're actively buying something.

If the purchases are being made on one of your accounts, change your password immediately. Someone probably has it and is buying things with your stored payment method.

If they're not being made on your account, call your bank/credit card company and report it ASAP. There's a good chance your card was skimmed/stolen. They'll block any further transactions, you can get the ones you didn't make rolled back, and they'll get you a new card.
