When I watched Malignant I felt like the movie was literally made to become licensed for DBD.

The Wraith.
I really wanna enjoy stalking around sneaking up on Survivors but it just ends up bingbonging to cloak, speeding across and then bingbonging next to them and hitting. It's really unsatisfying and is super boring.

No Mither is the worst perk by far, no I don't care you brought resilience to go with it nothing excuses making yourself useless in chase and giving up all the time another health state would have given you. And if you come across Oni your existence threw the game from the start.
There are a lot of bad perks but No Mither is the only perk where literally leaving the perk slot empty is preferable.
You know what man, No Mither with Oni is a really interesting combo. I once was playing as Oni and I had a No Mither Survivor in the match. Dude ended up going to a dead area of the map and just hanging out. He ended up hoarding all the blood orbs, and forced me to go ALL the way across the map just to get any blood orbs. Of course once I got there it was an insta fill, but outside of that it was actually kind of frustrating.

I been maining Dredge for a few weeks now and I don't think I've once ran Haddies calender, so I'd have to say I disagree with you.

Uh. Not sure what exactly you mean by saying some people shouldn't take statistics, given better education of a populace is literally always a good thing. I sure hope you aren't trying to unironically say those statistics prove any meaningful point whatsoever.
Just ignore me.

Probably does work.
Know what else works well with Forced Penance? Thanataphobia.

People thinking the stats prove anything are the proof for why people should be required to take a statistics class.
The people thinking the statistics don't prove anything is proof some people should stay out of statistics classes.

It pains me to say, but if The Twins did get a blighted skin, it wouldn't effect Victor. Remember, Victor is technically a power, and tampering with the visual effects of powers is a huge no-no

I LOVE Grim Embrace on certain Killer's, most notably The Dredge. You have to make sure the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person you hook is the Obsession or else it falls apart. As long as you manage that, and the Obsession doesn't have Distortion or OTR or something, you hook one person, and then immediately home in on the Obsession. Best case scenario, you can actually death hook the Obsession. It isn't exactly a slowdown in the traditional sense, it's more of a massive blow to the head to the entire team if you pull it off correctly.
-
I actually think it's pretty good. There 2 currently 2 methods of concealing your aura, Distortion and Off the Record, so would probably be a good one to bring as well. Also has the benefit of being blocked by OTR, the way OTR blocks borrowed time, so would actually be a downside to bringing it.

Hillbilly main here. My best guess is that it's to punish people who overuse their chainsaw. If you're good at Hillbilly, you'll very very very rarely overheat ever anyways so it doesn't matter too much to me.
Yea same. I been playing Billy A LOT recently, and the overheat mechanic might as well be non-existent

Been noticing lately that my games have taken a drastic turn for the worse. I've been able to get a consistent 3k till today, where suddenly now I'm going against incredibly coordinated teams and am now having great difficulty downing a single survivor, and if I do succeed at most I'm only getting 1k if I'm lucky. Life is now pain.
Yea, but you get used to it. Just be proud that it's decided you're good enough to face them, and then decide to bring it to them.
Remember, these are the players who ######### all over baby Killer's. Be the reason they DC.

But the same thing could be said for the other side.
Nobody is going to want to play the role of the 'good guys' if the role is too weak and are being killed left and right. Imagine new players getting into the game with killers being like this. and this is not taking account of camping, tunneling, slugging, bleeding out purposely.
i didnt play dbd before last year so i dont know how the state of the game was before the first resident evil chapter(when i started) but while i totally agree that dbd must never be a bully simulator against killers, it also does not need to be a slaughter of soloQ players.
Maybe the devs made 6.1.0 to improve killer QoL but at the same time it made soloQ worse than ever.
Soloq better than ever*
Fixed it for you.

It still comes out as a way less fun game. I am a long time killer main and I actually hated 6.1.0 because it made the bar so low for killer anyone can pick up a mid tier killer and kill survivors with thousands of hours. Survivor has slowly gone from superpowered to regular human over the past 4 years and it's an objectively more boring experience on both sides. Survivor was way more fun with things like exhaustion while running, the real iron will, etc etc with killers balanced around those power levels as well.
Now I can easily use perk combinations and killers that literally guarantee kills even if I play like an absolute dog and it's a lot less rewarding. Q times through the roof don't help either
So don't pick killers and perks that guarantee 4k.

That's exactly what i was thinking. Ever since the devs published the new stats i am constantly reading comments of people justifying the 61%-39% ratio with "killer must get more kills" "they are supposed to be strong and scary", "escape should not happen very often, "survs should be happy with losing".
And seeing the devs also state that it is intended that one side has more advantage over the other in a pvp enviroment escape my reasoning
Because your reasoning is wrong.

Power role is something that has dominance. It must not be in competitive game (otherwise who would want to play predefined weak role), so no power roles. Of course other thing that due to asymmetric nature and bazillion of variables and nuances makes it lopsided to one side, but that's the issue of balancing, not desired design.
And yet, it is their desired design isn't it?
-
@Wezil said:
First, this is an asymmetrical competitive game. This is why people play it. Competitive games are expected to be a 50/50 win rate.
It's not a horror survival game, that's Silent Hill or Resident Evil. People who are saying it's a survival horror, are absolutely wrong. The games not scary and never will be scary.
And yet, you are wrong because the balance isn't toward a 50-50 is it?
-
I tell you what, you missed out on the absolute insanity that was the 6.1.0 release. It was just an absolute slaughter house. All Survivors dead before a Gen even popped. The best you could hope to do was get like 2 gens done before everyone died.
It was a great time.
-
Or also, you can be covering a couple of areas at once. Call of Brine will provide information via the good skill check triggers, Oppression and ruin couple with surveillance. Stuff like that.
-
I think the meta is starting show that the strongest thing survivors have going foe them is chases, and Gen speeds. So at least 1 slowdown and 1 chase perk unless you are doing something meme-y or thematic.
-
It's pretty uncommon for someone to get an OTR git, followed by a DS. I've ran this build a lot to try and punish tunnelers and it rarely ever pops. I think it's a non-issue, coming from someone who regularly plays like this.
-
I literally don't understand all the crying about dead hard. Yes I play a lot of killer, and yes it can be very irritating to slap someone and have them tank the hit, but all I have to do is remember they have it and bait it out next time. I NEVER bait out DH until I've seen them use it, and I never have problems.
-
Hmmm, might not be a bad idea, just for the increased slowdown and placement of totems.
-
I updated this. Claustrophobia, while fun, and Dissolution, while thematic, just weren't working that well. I replaced them with Hex: Retribution, and Hex: Undying and had a lot of success with it.
-
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty certain that the "Supply cases" don't count as "Chests".
Honestly I hope I'm wrong because it would be way cooler if it did work on the supply cases also, but I'm afraid it probably doesnt.
-
I dont believe interacting with the actual supply case gives a notification, but once the case is open and the item is there, interacting with the item will cause the notification.
-
I was in the VHS closed beta before they did the long hiatus before the EA release, and at the time I would have put everything in on it being a DBD killer. Then after the EA release, I dont know what happened but it just nose dived. The Teen role is way to strong and from what I've seen in their response to that in the last update was pretty weak. I am worried about VHS because I enjoyed it during the closed beta, but I have played like 3 games since it was released in EA
-
You think that's something, check out this post I made Aug 1st saying Kinship should be a perk you bring to give to other players instead of one you bring for yourself, about a week before Reassurance was leaked.
-
I've seen a suggestion for a rework of tool boxes, that tool boxes don't increase repair speed, but rather apply unregressionable progress to the gens. Not a half bad idea, though how it would be implemented and it's effects on gameplay are still up in the air for being a good idea or not.
-
I want an insect based Killer who's power is sending out a swarm of insects who move at 100% speed and chase after a survivor for a short period of time, and can do damage to a Survivor just as a Killer can. Maybe make it so you can even target Survivors via their auras, and the swarm obviously doesn't have a TR but does have a sound it produces that Survivors can hear.
-
Gearhead
-
Yep, I'm learning that now. Sorry.
-
If I understand correctly you are saying you are having problems chasing Survivors who are good at chases?
Well, first and foremost get rid of them pallets. How you go about that is up to you but it's usually a good idea to force a pallet drop if you can. If you are going that route you can try enduring with Spirit fury. Just tank the last pallet hit to proc spirit fury and keep running.
You can try using I'm All Ears if you are using a ranged killer, and just watch them as they move and get them once they are clear.
I would also recommend watching Killer's on twitch and YouTube. Personally, watching Otzdarva helped me become a better Killer. Learn how to hide your Stain as well, remember there is a big red light blazing out of your face, and remember to hide it on approach and such. Also, remember you have a terror radius around you and learn how to sort of manipulate it. You can use Monitor and Abuse to keep it small so you have an easier time sneaking up on them.
So generally, you can read certain situations in the game. Let's say I see a team mate get hung across the map, and then 10 seconds later I'm getting terror radius. Well it's probably a safe assumption that the killer hung them, turned and headed directly at me. So I can probably 100% know where you are from that alone. UNLESS instead of heading directly at me, you veered to thw left or right, and now are coming from a different direction. Now I don't know this, all I know is team mate hung there, now there is terror radius. So I will be frantically looking in the direction I assumed you'd come from but then BLAH, here he is coming from a different direction. You can even screw around with Huntresses lullaby, because it's so large and non-directional, if you take Monitor, they will never know where you are coming from unless they have eyes on you.
Also pay attention to the map, and the area you are in. Are they running directly into a corner? You've already got them then. Learn to wrangle them, the same way dogs wrangle cattle. Lead them where you want them to go.
Learn how Bloodlust works and take advantage of it. Understand pallets are how survivors deal with Bloodlust, so don't let them.

Is cabins of hate worth it? I'm considering getting it but I'd like some opinions.
Eh. His anti-loop power is more detrimental than useful a lot of times. The Lament can be fun but you don't do much with it other than maybe find it before them occasionally. His perks are pretty good, Plaything is great for hex builds and gift of pain can be useful as well. Deadlock is a staple for Gen slowdown.
-
Here's a challenge. Go play The Dredge with Claustraphobia and Tinkerer's. Go experience the actual joy of coming out of a locker right in front of them just as the Gen pops, and they go running into the jungle gym to escape...

Running 4 brand new parts is a scummy way of playing to.
Well one player can't bring 4 brand new parts so...
-
Have you tried getting some self respect and not running 4 Gen slowdown perks? Jesus Christ there are like 60+ perks.
On Wesker just run Deadlock and Unnerving Presense if you are so hard up for slowdown. Deadlock with allow you to lean on the crutch you're so used to, while Unnerving will give them pressure without having to actively do anything.
You can try Survellance with either Ruin or Oppression to give you a ######### ton of information.
You can do Eruption alone, along with some chase perks to finalize the eruption.
If the Survivors manage to escape, good for them. They managed to overcome your carefully built plan. Running 4 slowdown perks is a scummy way of playing.

Lol, survivor not complaining about soloq? Must be a Killer!

There are people who like being beaten up, they are called masochists. Most of us aren't. SoloQ is in its worst state ever.
Or it could be that I enjoy the game as it is and don't feel entitled to surviving the players who's sole job it is to kill me.
-
Here's what I was running yesterday and had a ton of success with.
Plunderer's Instinct, Appraisal, Pharmacy and Wake Up.
It's REALLY easy to pull keys from chests with Plunderer's Instinct, Pharmacy will always guarantee you healing, and Appraisal will get you a second item from the chest after healing yourself. Manage to survive at least 4 matchs soloq with this build last night
-
Soloq is in the best place it's ever been.
Way I see it, every game I have a 25% chance to escape base, off the bat, and thats fine. Those chances go up and down throughout the course of the match, but even at just myself left, and hatch closed I am not at 0% chance to escape. There is always an out, and finding it, grabbing it and riding it all the way out is the challenge.
-
Man, screw it. Face camping Bubba I just a different mode of play in DBD. In this mode, you're job is to be last man standing and get the hatch, if you didn't manage to knock out the gens during the first 3 people on hook.

In my opinion the only truly self-ish perk is Left Behind. Any perk that helps you, helps the team if you're being useful. Any perk that only works when every survivor is already dead or out of the game is truly self-ish because it is IMPOSSIBLE for your team to benefit from that in anyway.
Self-Care means they don't have to worry about healing you and you can heal and take a hit for them, among other things.
Bond is an info perk, just helps you stay apprised of peoples locations which is something that could help you be productive.
Reactive Healing stacks with Self-Care and by itself does the same thing for the team.
Self Preservation could allow you to hide for the save or hop back on a gen without the killer knowing.
Even if you don't use any of them to directly help the team, if you get value out of it while the team is still alive and you're not doing gens or saves or healing it's not providing a "self-ish" benefit. You're just being self-ish and the build is slightly enabling you.
Wanna waste a perk slot to not help your team at all ever even a little bit in some way? Left Behind. To my knowledge that's the only perk in the game that fits that description. I personally think that should be addressed. Maybe if you die it gives everyone else diet Left Behind. Maybe the hatch sounds are just louder for everyone else.
I think you might have missed the part where I am intentionally using Bond to bring the killer to my team mates so he will hit them, triggering my other perks and allowing me to self care only half of my health back.
-
The Artist.
She doesn't have a tongue, so can't speak.
-
Zanshin Tactics could provide a speed increase to breaking walls I guess.
Really, REALLY like the buff to hangman trick though.
-
Oh yea, and Oppression can also tip you off to Survivors being on other gens
-
@WeirdlyBearded said:
I myself main twins. I've been trying to figure out a good perk setup with them. I know a lot of people want a rework but im not sure what the devs would even do? Because their who gimmick is using 2 killers etc.
The perks I were using were Furtive Chase, Dark Devotion, Oppression and Pop Goes the Weasel. Trigger Dark Devotion by attaching Victor to the Obsession and watch the fun unfurl. Find the Gen with the most progress and pop it while setting the others to regress as well. Using Furtive Chase, you can fall back a bit during a chase and unleash Victor and unless they are paying attention, they will never see you cut them off.
-
Yea I gotta say, nothing looks suspect here. I'm actually surprised you made it as far as you did.
-
So, hopefully this doesn't lead to any kind of bans or anything...
But one day I'm playing SoloQ. I get chased by Nemesis and I'm looping him pretty good. We are on the corn map with the house and I run up to the second floor during the chase and come across the other survivors just hanging out up there. They sand bag me and I get downed. Killer puts me into basement and there is 2 dudes left. One dies, and so there I am hanging in basement with the other survivor just hanging out upstairs. Decide to go for the unhook and KOBE! I get off. Run back up into the house and just wait foe killer. I'm not even gonna bother, he wants to hang me so be it. But he can't get this survivor, they keep boiling over off his shoulder and running back upstairs. So he is doing this over and over and over when I realize, wait a minute. They sandbagged me! So now I start trying to help the nemesis get this survivor on a hook. I'm body blocking and it becomes me and nemesis trying to get this dude onto a hook. He ended up having to leave the house and we ran this dude around the whole map. Everytime he went down, he would get off with Boil Over. No idea how he was doing it, but he did it so much that he actually ended up bleeding out from spending so much time dying between hook attempts. Nemesis let me out.
