Well look at it this way: If you hide in a corner and do literally nothing the entire game, wait for 2 gens to get done while your 3 teammates get killed, and then you sneak into the hatch getting a whopping total of 5k survival points and no pip.... do you honestly think you won?Yes
So selling out your entire team is a victory if you contribute nothing and purposely prevent them from being able to succeed. Thats almost teamkilling level and you consider it winning. You should probably just go play battle royale games or something.
Not my fault the wincon says nothing about helping everyone ELSE escape
stale mate -
Oh so to win as a killer you need to do everything you do to pip? So pip = win.
thanks for clearing that up for everyone

Nope, if it could be triggered as and when like an ability then I might think it’s OP, but really how long after the chase starts is SB held, it’s prerty much gone in the first 3 seconds and without additional perks and map locations to utilise, it’s difficult to actually escape.
-
Don’t do it, because it still won’t be an accurate representation because it % based, of you get banned after 50 DCs no games played, all your going to get from that is 100% DC rate or 50 total, you won’t know the time scale or the actual % that triggers the ban....DuckApproved said:Alright boys I can't tell you what I'm about to do. Yeah the first option is not really likely to end escape if the timers out and you don’t have a key and chances are even if one gen is left once the timers out, the killer knowsEdys said:@Paddy4583 said:
Personally I think the hatch should have a timer, after the alloted time the hatch closes, and the survivor has to either do the last gens or use a key or perk to reopen the hatch.Or the hatch should have a grab mechanic for the killer, so if the surviour is in a certain proximity the killer has a grab option without the survivor having to jump first, instead of only being able to hit them.
The latter seems a more logical way to go and seems fair on both sides,in my oppinion.
I agree with your thinking, killer wise, but you also have to consider situations where only 2 gens have been done: with your solution the survivor cannot reasonably escape, only try to drag on the game or suicide, both being not very fun solution for either parties.
And yes I understand that "if only 2 gens are done, the killer deserves the 4k", but it is not always the case.
youre at one of three gens, so would probably turn into a hostage situation...
Though the second idea might work though, at least from a stand off as it is now, I know when I’m in that situation Intend to do a gen to get them to move, and as a killer I fake a hatch camp to draw them out
edit: just seen your suggestion, that would also be a good option that Inwouldnt mind seeing, though I’d die as the hatch eludes my most of the time anyway, lerys I have found it once, so that map gets a wave of the white flag and I take the hanging. -

Re-read the thread. People are complaining that they take out 4 and it still pops. So what should they do? Run around checking every nook and cranny looking for it to make sure? Or assume one of the others must have done it if they cant find it?
What if multiple survivors run around looking for 5 totems? Then who is doing the generators?
All we want is an indication of how many have been cleansed, which is what swf have.
Seems to me killers want survivors doing anything but generators, we've all seen the 1000 threads begging for more objectives for survivors. They just want solo players to be as easy as possible, because most killers lobby dodge swf anyway.
I’m 99% solo player, and to be honest I’d rather be doing anything but gens at this point lol.
If they get a single kill from NOED my oppinion is it’s deserved, it’s very much an end game play style, it has a good risk reward balance.
I don’t mind this perk at all. Even when I’ve evaded all match done gens and just getting to the gate NOED bites me on the backside, I can live without that escape and those few BPs I’ll get from it.
We do have maps and perks to locate the totems, don’t see why a survivor should have a bonus perk of a counter that puts the killers “maybe” perk at a huge disadvantage, when the killer them selves don’t even have the ability to do this without a perk.

Like I’ve said it’s how I define it you can choose to see it differently, it doesn’t negate the fact it is doing a gen with extra steps, and the extra steps not actually resulting in any advancement until you hold M1 at a gen to install it, only then has advancement been made.AlwaysInAGoodShape said:The point that you always skim past is that, one involves an additional objective the other doesn’t and is the current game. And like I’ve always said I refer to that as a side quest.
This is not a side-quest.
Anything that directly advances the main goal is NEVER a side-quest. Side-quests are things that are NOT directly progressing your main goal;
420/440 bar to escape.
Why this is difficult for you to understand regardless of how you want to define it, is baffaling. -
AlwaysInAGoodShape said:
Yes. Side-questing; because it wasn't mandatory.
And neither is doing flat gens you genius. 350 seconds of side-questing you have right there.
Nope see what you’ve done is taken a single word and then fixated on it because you believe that 2 ways of doing a gen makes doing a gen not doing a gen, and makes neither mandatory as a route so they both can’t be side quests.
The point that you always skim past is that, one involves an additional objective the other doesn’t and is the current game. And like I’ve always said I refer to that as a side quest.
Adding additions doesn’t change the current game play or the current objective, it just adds a side step, additional step, side quest, how ever you want to define it, to doing the same thing.
which has been my argument from the start, I have never changed my stance on that.
And you have agreed this already and also agreed it’s still just doing a gen, while at the same time saying they are different and not the same as doing a gen.
But Ill go back to my pictures from now on because you Seem to be “I’m just looking at the pictures!” kinda guy -
That was never the dispute... Ha! We are creating gameplay here. Of course the code gets bigger. Only if we didn't create new things to DO would the code have been the same.
-
The only thing I see inflated is your ego.AlwaysInAGoodShape said:“Part” sea-lion or “flat” sea-lion, because you see they are both completly different things, like doing a gen and DOING a gen!
Yes, both are different things.
Scripting a bot that does a flat gen (route A) simply has 1 instruction: Hold M1 for 80 seconds.
If I had to write the code for a bot doing route B, then the code would be more complex. If doing a gen was doing 1 thing only, then I should've only needed that first script.
But as reality checks out; the bots wouldn't be doing the same thing, which is why the script for route B is different from route A.DOING THE SAME =/= ACHIEVING the same (main objective). (sorry but I lost track of how many times you inflate different things)
I code for a living and I’ll tell you now, if we need a code to achieve a goal, we wouldn’t over complicate the simplistic code for a more complex code with more steps and longer process time... and there’s a reason for that!

Nope, potential time is not the same as applied time, or your basically now reducing your idea to having the optional use of tool box, only you have to find one in a chest First.AlwaysInAGoodShape said:Only on on installing, which is why I said crafting/collecting and transporting doesn’t equal doing a gen... but do proceed in telling me how that’s incorrect
No this is how it works:
When you do a part you simply have 10 seconds of generator time. Which can still be undone/regressed. The moment it's installed it adds + 5 seconds and there's your permanent 15 seconds. Also running in between what are essentially small generators isn't doing a side-objective. That is also doing the main objective. Otherwise it'd be playing "lava-floor"; as long as you walk you're side-questing.
-
There fixed it for youAlwaysInAGoodShape said:Main Objective:
That which reduces from the 420/440 second bar resulting in the escape route being opened up, Thus:
-Opening exit gates = -20
-Doing a full generator = -80
-Doing parts = - 15 per part + side quest time of collecting/ crafting and transportingThings that don't subtract from this timer:
Healing: = Still 420/440 left to do
Sabotaging: = Still 420/440 left to do
Cleansing dull totem: = Still 420/440 left to do

Doing parts does not equal doing a gen, the use for the part is for the completion of a gen, but the locating and crafting transporting, does not equate to doing a gen, that is a side quest for doing the gen...
and I don’t know why you’ve gone back to this topic, in the first place... oh wait yeah I do...
Coming back to a wrong position you still hold?
Doing parts does not equal doing a gen
Doing a part DIRECTLY equals doing x amount of seconds in the 420/440 second main bar of progression. THAT MAIN BAR OF PROGRESSION is you doing YOUR MAIN OBJECTIVE.
Doing 5 Parts means minus 5*15 = 75 seconds from the 420/440 main objective bar. Yes that is doing your main objective xD
Doing exit gates also isn't doing Gens you genius. (Spoiler alert: Opening exit gates is doing the main objective) -

Doing parts equals doing a generator. Creating the part is literally finishing 10 seconds of irregressable gen time.
There is no redefinition. Your definition is; something that isn't mandatory to do for completing your main
Doing 70 seconds on a generator are simply not mandatory. They are just a bonus to what you can already do to parts.
please stop trying to re-define my logic
I'm LITERALLY QUOTING YOU LMAO Go to page 2, bahaha:
From you:
The objective that I'm going to create will not be mandatory..... and if it’s not mandatory Its???
If an objective is not mandatory it is side-questing. (your logic)
70 seconds of not mandatory side-questing you have right there.
Doing parts does not equal doing a gen, the use for the part is for the completion of a gen, but the locating and crafting transporting, does not equate to doing a gen, that is a side quest for doing the gen...

I'm sorry, but if you've been sitting at a generator for 80 seconds, you've been side-questing for 70 seconds.
Those 70 seconds sitting there putting in regressable charges were not mandatory. If it's not mandatory then it is....?If it's not mandatory then it is............?
Well it's side-questing by your own logic xD

Finally!AlwaysInAGoodShape said:Yes
You’ve stated that most people when they want secondary objectives just want to add more time to gens in the form of something else that is mandatory, inherently you believe this to be nothing more than a nerf to prolong the survivors escape
And I don't do that. There's no hypocrisy.
So in conclusion, there is no debate that your idea is an alternative to completing a generator, but at its basic level, it is still completing a generator with a side step (quest)
you can either just play the standard game we all do now and hold M1 and do the gen in the same time.
Or you can opt to spend time crafting/finding and going backwards and forwards to a gen, which in short will extend the total time of the process of completing a gen, the total time is extend because the buff time doesn’t negate the time it’s taken to craft, find, transport, install.
so basically it’s an optional way of extending gen times from there standard rate, by completing an additional objective in between that’s serves no function but to add time to the game as a whole.
When I when in the linked posts the argument was why do peope want more when there’s so much to do, and the majority were stating: but most of these are optional, and your idea is adding another optional objective, with no real risk reward functionality, which is really what I believe people to want in a secondary objective if it’s optional, but I genuinely believe people do just want additional mandatory steps to complete to escape, extending the much need time for a killer and the difficulty for a survivor.
Using the survial figures is not realivant because it assumes everyone plays to escape, which isn’t the case for all players and it doesn’t reflect a true picture of the game as a whole, so basing a resolution around the incorrect statistics results in errors, of which we have seen plenty. -
But only one of those option involves a side quest.....AlwaysInAGoodShape said:And I showed how this makes doing flat generators a side-quest. Since you don't need to do 80 seconds of gen time in front of a gen; that is an option.
I've said that countless of times;
Either both doing parts and doing flat gens are side-questing and there's no main objective or both are main objectives and neither side-questing.
The main objective is to complete the gen,
option 1 do the gen
option 2 do something else before doing a gen.
All you did was add the word flat in front of a gen to deflect form the only difgrence being tha additional step that isn’t required to do the gen.

LINE 2: My op is a multi-route environment.
LINE 3: Doing parts is not mandatory.
just adding time to gens, didn’t give optional routes. And was not the question.
You’ve stated that most people when they want secondary objectives just want to add more time to gens in the form of something else that is mandatory, inherently you believe this to be nothing more than a nerf to prolong the survivors escape, at least that was my understanding, Inasked you for clarity within the context of the example you gave, for some reason you can’t do this...
-
I have already given the definition:AlwaysInAGoodShape said:What makes something a side-quest; simple question inherently?
Side Quests are additional or extra quests that a player can attempt. Side quests are not necessary to complete a game.
the addition being the collection of parts before doing a gen. -
I have already given the definition to what I believe a side quest to be:
Side Quests are additional or extra quests that a player can attempt. Side quests are not necessary to complete a game.
-
I thought emery moved on from that a while ago now, lol.Edys said:I can't believe you all are still talking about side questing lol.
You want to go to Rome (fix a gen).
You have a car. (mouse 1 button on a plain gen)
There is a plane that goes to Rome (a gen with parts installed on them), but you don't have a ticket for it (the parts that need to be installed). You can either take the car, or buy a ticket for the plane (producing a part and installing it) and then board the plane.
Buying the ticket is a side quest. Once the side quest is completed you open the alternative route to Rome. If you don't buy the ticket, you can still complete the main quest.
Now please, please, PLEASE stop this non sense everybody
