I get it. A lot of people think it's clunky and silly whereas I find them a hell of a lot better. The old animation were utter garbage in my opinion. Running while injured looked like you were holding your guts in while skipping. Looked horrible. With that being said I understand not everyone likes what's new. My problem is the fact that everyone and their mother is complaining about something that hasn't even been live for a day yet. Give it a couple of weeks and get used to it then come back with constructive criticism. Complaining for the sake of complaining without even TRYING to get used to it makes me think that's why the Devs ignore us.
Out of curiosity tho how often do people actually look at their animation while playing? I for example only do it if I have a more stealth oriented build. Aside from that I never looked at my survivor because there's other things to look at that are more important.
problem is, I don’t need more than 5 minutes to realize if animations in a videogame make or break my experience...

I too love them. The crawling hatch escape will never get old to me lmao!
To you who dislike the new, do you remember how terribly rigid and strange old animations were? Like be honest to yourself. Standing and being injured and crawling especially. It felt like playing a quickly made browser game to me at least. Now they just feel more proper and they did a pretty good job with how your physical movement on map wasn't changed.
I think people are just still used to old and don't see how terrible they always were or they're afraid of having own opinions so they like to jump on the hate train.
I honestly remember falling in love and keep playing the game I stopped playing today because of how much I loved the unique animations.

Look. I understand complaining about things because they're game breaking. Yes hit boxes are busted. I literally just played a game against a Nurse and she hit me several feet away. This needs to be fixed. However, the movement hasn't changed. The devs stated that movement speed is the same as it was pre-patch. Unless there's physical evidence that actually makes a sizable difference it's fine. I don't get what's wrong with the UI. I resized it to what fits me and 3 games in I'm used to it. I don't play 3 inches from my monitor so just looking at the screen I can see everything I need to.
Its not only about mechanics. The new movements look and feel weird and clunky they took away a part of the game’s unique identity. And there are A LOT of us saying this. Your opinion may differ from ours, of course, but yeah the clumsiness vibe the new survivors give me is making me play other games. After 4 years of almost DBD only.
-
lmao I was just waiting for someone to report all of this as a bug. I would have actually preferred more bugs to the current changes

Oh yeah, me and a friend have been playing this game a lot for the past several weeks, actually I think it's been months now. Today we got on, played two rounds and decided "You know let's play something else."
Can't explain it. I just didn't feel immersed anymore and I don't actually like... care?
I have been playing this game for the last 4 years on four different platforms every single day and, today, for the first time, that same thing happened to me and my team.
-
- Updated survivor locomotion and hitbox registration
- Why It’s The Death of This Game = the past survivor locomotion had nothing wrong with it.
I truly hope they realize this part is key.
+1
-
My opinion, they’re pretending the problem isn’t there to see how the player count will be after the initial burst of collective rage.
Spoiler: this won’t end well.
-
The new animations are awful. And it’s not only a matter of how they look, It doesn’t FEEL good to play survivor. It feels clunky and, frankly, awkward.
I will elaborate more:
Dying state looks fine but you can’t spin anymore. Not good. It takes away a little piece of this game’s unique identity.
The new animation you get when going down with a hit is cool and actually a nice change.
Crouch walking is fine to me.
Walking is... kind of the same, but looks more generic than before. Like, until yesterday, I would recognize a Meg walking everywhere at any moment even if you removed all of her textures and made her walk on a blank screen. Now I’d say it’s a character walking in a videogame, without knowing it’s from DbD.
Running feels clunkier than before, in a worse way than I am capable to describe.
When you are standing still, it just doesn’t fit the horror theme and it looks like you’re waiting something in front of a desk in a store.
Running while injured, this is where the disaster happened. Honestly I don’t see how anyone can like it. It looks like two gens of games ago.
Overall this looks like a fake game pretending to be DbD.
I do respect your opinion, OP, personal taste is a thing. But the playerbase as an entity (lol) doesn’t look happy right now. And, personally, I am not going to play the game anymore. I assume many other veterans will do the same.

It's a good cautionary tale. For the first time, I really feel like DbD has hit a critical point. No matter how the feedback for the new HUD is couched (vicious or courteous), the vast majority is negative.
Imo, the HUD will be reverted/changed once devs see a concrete dip in players, but it might be too late by then. If the changes burn too many veteran players into quitting, they can't easily replenish their numbers with new players because of the learning curve and grind of the game.
I'm just hoping for the best.
Personally, i am not going to play the game anymore unless they completely delete this patch. I know of others in real life who will do the same, and many others are writing the same thing here.
This will be probably ignored and considered “few people leaving make more noise than lots of people staying”. And it will be a bad assumption, or at least that’s what history teaches us.
I want to say one more thing.
There is not a single successful game in our times, as far as I know, that has made a change so big, and with such a negative impact, and survived.

Honestly I don't believe them either. That's ridiculous, they just what, deleted all code, previous versions of their game, all patch data, everything? That's ridiculous.
Two of my friends work on the Madden game series and a few other major titles, and they were laughing their asses off at that statement when I showed them.
Because that can’t be true. You don’t just put thousands of lines of coding into the trash can and empty it. You just don’t :)

Get a grip. Seriously, the game won't run me off, but the Forum is kind of embarrassing. Surely you can voice your concerns in a more constructive framework? The Patch hasn't even been out one day and you would think the DEV broke into your houses and shot your dog in front of you. This isn't healthy, nor is it normal. Take a deep breath and act like adults, even if some of you aren't old enough to shave.
- I don't like the new UI either, but I'm going to give it a month before I allow myself to truly give my thoughts. It is busy; it is distracting. However, I can't be sure if that is my bias because it is new. It deserves to be given more than a day before you guys act like the Nuclear Clock is ten seconds to midnight. Seriously.
- I love the new maps. I don't even have to wait a month to say that. They are solid. I'm sure there will be some bad spots, but I haven't hit any yet. They look good, they broke up the previous routine, and managed to make Crotus more evenly balanced toward the Killer, and Gideon more balanced toward the Survivor. What's not to like. And we get to learn all new Totem spawn points; bonus.
- The Clown hasn't been tested enough for anyone to rant or foam at the mouth. Most of you don't even play Clown so what the hell are you up in arms about? Give it a proper test run.
- The DEV and Staff are people and deserve better treatment. Personally, and I've said this before, they should close down the forum for everything but private reporting of bugs. I don't see how they get any benefit from this Forum whatsoever. It costs them money and time to upkeep it and it never provides them any good PR. All it does it stress them. They should close it down and make some of you, if you are so inclined, go pay to host a Forum for you to whine and complain all day. I don't know why BEhavior subsidizes your bad manners.
- I also don't think the DEV should announce or ask us for our input anymore on any change they decide to make. I don't see how they profit from it. If we like the game, we play it. If we don't like it, we move on. I don't see how they can get any benefit whatsoever asking us what we think when everyone gives them different information. They get burned either way, because they cannot make everyone happy. I say they should remove the expectation that we get a say, preview, etc. The only thing they should talk about with us is upcoming releases and events.
I was going to go to ten, but I think these are the most important things I wanted to say. This Forum is NOT the community. It is, sadly, a loud-mouthed, obnoxious set of lurkers (and remember I post here too). The numbers of every person on this Forum are not even a drop in the bucket against the actual number of overall Players of the game. Most of them will never come here, or at least never post. They are the community, not us. Seriously, are we trying to make QAnon seem calm and reserved by comparison? I feel like I should just name myself "M" and start spouting off the most crazy conspiracies and predictions I can and chances are a percentage of this place would repeat and believe them just as long as they were negative and whiney. There I vented.
I want to repeat, those who work at BEhavior and work on this game which we all play (and I would assume most like) are people and should be treated with at least common courtesy. The Golden Rule should be applied. Even if you don't agree with me, consider my number four and five above, and how close you guys may be coming to the final straw where they say, "nope, this aint' worth it... shut the Forum down."
This kind of thread reminds me of a game I played before DBD came out; I won’t name it or the company, but I was very active on its forum. One day, a patch came out that changed many things the players were comfortable with. The forums were in the same state we are now, thousands of rants over the internet and sometimes a post like this one.
Then the devs said they couldn’t revert the change because old version was gone. Again, history repeats itself. And the forums were “devs this sucks”, “we want old game back” etc.
The devs didn’t listen. After 6 months, game died. You’d always play with the same players, queues were long as hell.
”Devs, the game is dying” said the majority of the posts in the forum.
”We have data saying otherwise, the game is fine” kept replying the community manager.
Another three months passed, and they closed the servers. That game no longer exists.
Saddest part? This is 100% a true story, and I literally am seeing the same exact situation happening here.
-
Because survivors look and feel like mannequins and you have to check all the sides of your screen all the time instead of a corner.

moral of the story: don’t change things in your game that makes the actual playing of it unfun.
More than 6.000 hours here and I won’t play it again, lol. This is awful and the game lost a big part of his identity.

There are times I play survivors with side objective build (totems, chest hunt). I can say 80% my team are dead.
All the time you find, cleanse totems. It would be enough to fnish 1.5-2 Gen. That much time decides between 3-4 escape or all death.
I would still focus on Gen 1st. If I walk pass a totem, I do it (reduce finding time).
When there is 1 Gen left and my team is still in good stage (1 hook each and may be 1 on dead hook). I will find remaining totems. If all are on dead hook and still 2 Gen left. Its better to rush Gen.
Man if at the start of every trial every survivor touches a dull it’s 10 seconds into the round and there’s only one remaining. It’s fairly obvious that if you’re doing it alone at higher ranks your team isn’t capable of doing gens with 1 person less in the game (although when I do it solo its usually fine but don’t ask why or how because I don’t know lol). What I am saying is that this should be every survivor’s mindset as long as Devour Hope and NOED are in the game.
-
I actually laughed out loud at Huntress.
...have you forgot about Julie Legion? They usually are the best players, they never camp or tunnel, they don’t have game chat because they play on console and they are smart and nice people.
(that’s me)
-
Lots of people saying survivors are just skins...
what?!
I mean I can usually guess my opponent’s playstyle based on what survivor they picked. Have you ever seen a stealthy Steve? Damn I could make a list ahah!
-
I rarely play survivor but when I do (usually rank 3-4) this is what happens:
As solo Q, I run Small Game or/AND a map, and never touch a single gen until 5 totems are cleansed.
As two-stack, we do the same.
As four-stack, two of us do the same and the other two repair gens.
Yes, we stealth through 5 totems and then start repairing gen. Guess what, never faced NOED in the last month. It’s that easy. You need to realize that your objective is not to repair 5 gens and open the exit gates: your objective is to cleanse 5 totems, repair 5 gens and open the exit gates. God I wish NOED was base kit (although I don’t use it because I prefer to run Meme builds) so that survivors would realize this.

Because there is a few things you haven't thought of.
1) she isn't nearly as powerful as Hag, hillbilly, nurse, spirit.
2) we killers beyond rank 15 have to sweat due to being put against red ranks quite a few games in a row
3) the reason she excells at camping is because of the small timer between hatchets. This is an issue, but if they are camping then do gens, if you are being camped keep playing it to to help your team secure 3 gens at least.
- what do you mean? I’ve always considered the Huntress one of the best killers in the game, why shouldn’t I compare her to Billy or Spirit? She is Billy with projectiles. I’d like to hear why you think differently.
- what do you even mean by “we killers beyond rank 15” lol I have been a killer in the red ranks for 4 years, I know what it feels like but I still don’t pick a specific killer to camp all my games
- agreed, but not that easy in solo/duo q. That’s usually 3 teammates trying to rescue you and huntress with her hatchet raised.
-
@Crypticghoul said:
Huntress is one of the best at camping/tunneling because she can get quick successive hits in due to throwing hatchets having no real penalty like successful melee swings do (which I really despise but that's another topic).
So much like Bubba and his powerful hook camping, people that prefer to play that way will gravitate towards her due to her being really good at it.
Plus she's free to play as opposed to Bubba who you have to buy with money which might factor into it a bit. Meaning people who are less committed to killer will probably play her and imo these people are less likely to have the game sense or perks to know where to go after hooking someone, leading to them achieving better results from just camping.
Ok i didn’t consider all of this and it kinda makes sense, but then again why is always Huntress? Why have I played against tons of fair (and pretty good at the game) Bubba, Billy, Pigs and even Wraiths, but Huntress guys who could truly dominate a Trial without breaking a sweat and with perfect aim camp so much? It’s confusing ahah
-
@Mr_K said:
Was it only Huntress or were there other killers too?
Well yes I have encountered other camping guys but they were quite bad at the game and usually in lower ranks. And, most importantly, it’s never the same killer. Imagine the killer hooking and then just waiting there, or hitting the hooked survivor, and then get destroyed by BT/DS in the end. That’s what I’ve seen other killers accomplish by camping so far.
BUT HUNTRESS, even the good ones at higher ranks, they ALWAYS camp - aka I’ve never in my life as a survivor, which is short but still, seen a Huntress not camping. I honestly wonder why.

Except BHVR, in their blog covering the Archives/Rift, specifically sold it as being achievable by playing appr. an hour per day.
"Our goal for our first Tome and Rift is to base our completion targets on the average daily play time of 1 hour/user, provided by our internal data. Given this, completion of The Rift and all its rewards should take roughly 70 to 80 hours of gameplay, provided players accomplish Challenges from each role. "
No okay that’s complete bs lol

I will not argue with you I did the math and it told me how much I need to play every day. If you think I made a mistake in my calculations feel free to do it your self and report back.
No I believe your math. All I’m saying is the top rewards in the game shouldn’t be available to someone who plays LESS than 6-7 games everyday.

You never faced a nurse from grey to purple because console nurses are red ranks. There’s no other way of Nurse on console: either you suck or you rule.

You have to complete all the killer and survivor challenges in all four tomes and play 6-7 games a day to unlock the entire rift
I don’t see how that affect what I said. And also I think it’s not true? From my understanding the rift levels with those blue shards and you get them with exp, so it’s possible to complete the rift by simply playing the game without doing any challenges... am I wrong? I did the chapter 1 Tome, then kept leveling the rift up just playing the game.

Doc can also stop people from healing, working on gens, know exactly where they are and can stop them from dropping pallets.
I am not saying that Legion is better than Doctor - he is not.
But you said there is NO benefit in using Legion‘s power, and that’s what I referred to with my “it’s not true”.
-
Honestly when there are 2 left and I’m chasing one I already know if I want a 4K I will have to slug and look for the other and I hate that. It’s boring to me and it’s boring to that guy who just sits on the floor, without nothing he can do in the meantime. Always felt something needs a change on this, but I wouldn’t know what to suggest.
-
The ones the killer I’m leveling up couldn’t use for his life. Last case was Doc. Spies, Whispers, Stridor. I never got any other perks until I had these to tier 3. It’s insane.
-
@Stains said:
The tomes give you approximately 90 rift fragments assuming you play both survivor and killer so that is 360 fragments. The rift needs 690 fragments for tier 70 to be unlocked so that leaves us with 330 fragment to be farmed by game experience.
1 rift fragment equals 800 exp
10 rift fragments needed for a tier to be unlocked
So to farm one tier you need to play around 14 games assuming you last in a game for about 10 mins (1sec of game time = 1exp, 10mins = 600exp the cap for one game, 14 x 600 = 8400, you wont always get 600 exp out of a game)
In order to unlock the entire rift you need around 460 games which is absurd. The rift lasts for 70 days that means you need to play 6-7 games EVERY DAY. You can shave off a game every day by getting your first game of the day bonus but still that's a lot of games. Keep in mind the queue times for killer and sometimes survivor are long.
I don't know if the devs intended for the rift to this grindy, if they did it saddens me deeply and I regret buying it.
Possible solutions:
Raise the number of rift fragments earned per levelup to two cutting the games needed in half, or put more challenges for possibly more fragments.
So you are saying those who play less than 6-7 games every day won’t get the top tier exclusive items in the game? That sounds perfectly fine to me.
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/806050#Comment_806050
Incorrect. Doctor's power DOES help him. Or at least, it can. If Legion uses his power, it ALWAYS hurts them. There is no benefit.
That’s not true. 99% of my games I play against four injured survivors all the time because my first couple of FF injured them all and they won’t waste time to heal. So I’m an M1 killer against four exposed survivors. Doc needs 2 hits.
-
When I saw her skin with tiara and fancy shoes I couldn’t stop laughing.
-
A killer that can hide in a locker and can automatically ambush and grab who walks in front of it.
-
Licensed? Hannah from Until Dawn.
-
Always thought one of those windows should be just removed.
-
My experience with survivors is limited, but:
Spirit - you waste more time running in a straight line than doing anything else.
Trapper - scared af to get in a trap I wouldn’t have place as Trapper.
To some degree, Doctor - because it completely denies the stealth potential this game could have.
-
Imo BT shouldn’t exist at all AND killers should be punished much, much, very much more from camping and tunneling.
On the other side, killers wouldn’t need to camp or tunnel if gens weren’t done in 4 minutes.

Can I have all these spinechill survivors everybody talk about in the forum these days, please? Instead of the usual DH, BT, DS, Adrenaline I face everyday? I’m ready to depip for that, not joking.

I think that would be an unnecessary nerf. It would be better to just address and slightly rework the most abused loops in the game, like the Shack.
-
Inb4 spinechill is meta.
/s
There are four perkslots and seventeen killers. If you need a perk slot out of four to counter a specific killer among seventeen, that killer is op. It’s that easy.
Imagine that, starting tomorrow, Survivors can see who the killer is before the trial starts. Spirit would be fine, right? Because you can choose some perks to counter her! You can now enter a lobby, see the spirit, equip Iron Will, Fixated and Spine Chill and have a good game, right?
Now imagine that same situation against any other killer. You wouldn’t have an easier time, you would just completely destroy everything the killer has.
Wraith, Pig? I’m bringing sprint boost. Trapper? Sabotage and Small Game. Hag? I can finally use my yellow flashlight. Huntress, Nurse? Q&Q, Dance, Lithe and I’m going to play stealth.
Really think about how survivor perks affect other killers and then think about the spirit. Even KNOWING you are going to face her you can’t counter the spirit that hard, no matter what you do.
-
Hi, I have been playing Legion in the red ranks since their release. Please trust me on this, Sloppy Butcher is the game changer.
You will injure people easily with Legion and the hard part will be downing them. Thing is, either they stay injured (good for you) or they heal which takes a lot of time with SB (good for you).
You should also consider Monitor&Abuse. Legion is small sized, you’ll get extra distance before they reach a safe zone.
I usually play BBQ, Ruin, M&A, Sloppy. If BBQ isn’t an option Discordance is your best bet, but I’m not a fan of that unless Spirit/Nurse/Billy/Freddy. You make the best use of Discordance only when you immediately reach the gen.

No, before the undectectable update, EW1 myers was immune to all detection and aura reading perks, spine chill and premonition didn't work on him, due to him having the second slowest movement speed in the game when in EW1.
Now undetectable made it so that spine chill and premonition work on him, and all myers get is that he doesn't need the M&A perk anymore.
Nerfing pig 3 times wasn't enough, so they needed to nerf another mid tier killer.
Okay, now I get the point of these posts. I don’t have experience on Michael so didn’t know he was immune to some specific perks.
I still don’t get how is he that bad? I mean he was nerfed against a perk nobody use (Premonition) and a barely meta one which some think it’s good and some don’t (Spine Chill) and buffed against everything else.
-
@Micheal_Myers said:
Like I said in multiple comments and posts this nerf is miserable to Myers mains. Dev's need to revert it fast.
(And yes Myers was the very first killer I EVER played)
How is that a nerf? From my understanding the only difference is that Michael is now Undetectable when in EW1. Didn’t Spine Chill already work against him just as it does now?
-
Well if the Billy was facecamping there’s nothing else you could have done except trying bodyblocking the Billy for him (bad idea anyway since he was a Billy).
Farming is more a matter of intention.
If you unhook someone with the intention of actually saving him - and there’s no better circumstances of unhooking him - it shouldn’t really be considered farming.
-
I have a friend with the same problem on PS4. Happens everyday: his SWF team will join a lobby with an empty slot and he will go back to the main menu reading a “cant reach the host” kind of message. Multiple times in a row. Seems like a common issue... I hope it’s being addressed
