- Chase Meme Trapper (Bamboozle, Brutal Strenght, Enduring, Spirit’s Fury, then 67 traps near the first hook). Works more times than I’d want it to.
- Spirit when I’m pissed off and just want to chill
- Jumpscare T1 Myers at rank reset because it’s fun.

Can we please get rid of pallets? I don’t know why survivors get them but they’re kind of crappy

I don't think that you need to announce the fact that you are leaving a game, unless you're an influencer or a streamer. Do you do that with every game?
Forums are meant for people to say things that they think.

If every survivor touches a totem at the start of every trial there’s 1 totem left and the genrush is slowed down by 10 seconds.
Killers never had a chance to counter DS so easily, they always needed to down, hook and then down again BEFORE dealing with it.
JUST DO BONES.

You don’t take away the concept of “build” from a game that always had it. You don’t :)

So I'm a new Killer. New to DBD actually, and I've tried both sides now. When I do survivor I always solo queue because no one else I know plays this game.
As a Killer I've mainly tried Spirit, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. But last night I found super discouraging because I was lobbied with SWF group after SWF group. Unfortunately I can't tell until in game, when it becomes incredibly obvious. I run DIscordance and other info perks, and there is no way solo players have that level of coordination to always have 2 survivors on gens at all times, to have 2 team members healing at all times, and getting every totem on the map.
I wouldn't even mind too much accept as a Rank 16 Killer, I'm being matched with purple rank SWF groups, and I have to say, they are incredibly obnoxious. I tried Huntress just to see what it's like, and in my first match with her, I was mobbed by a SWF group (all with Halos) with purple flashlights who would just blind me constantly. One person on their team was doing gens, and the other 3 were just running around me with flashlights and frecrackers in my face, sabotaging hooks. It was a miserable experience. 3 of them had a .TTV in their names. I'm now considering just d/c'ing in the Lobby if I see such names again.
Before I just rage dodge though, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Of course, I'm Rank 16 and have so much to improve on. Maybe more experienced Killers here on the forums can give me some tips or advice on how to deal with these toxic groups? I really don't want to d/c, and sometimes I think that's what these SWF want for their petty Twitch channel. I know I still suck and don't want to be content for these jerks lol.
Or else, if anyone can link me to videos of great Killers absolutely wrecking toxic SWF groups, I'd love that for therapeutic purposes lol.
Thanks so much!
I’ll give you a golden advice here: when the survivors are toxic to the point they’re bullying you and they’re not letting you play the game, you can do the same. You don’t need to DC. Just go to a corner of the map facing the wall, they won’t get bloodpoints and their audience (if they’re streaming) will be bored.
This is mostly an advice for EXTREME situations I would give to experienced killers. I must say get better at the game before you need drastic measures like this.
So, how to improve? First, you really need to extensively play both sides. Learn perks and how they work, learn the meta, learn the maps. But most importantly learn how a bad survivor think, how a good survivor think, and the same for killers. Some players are going to be overly altruistic, overly stealthy, overly bold, etc, and you can turn any of that to your advantage.
If only one person is doing gens, look for that person. It’s probably less skilled than the others in a chase. If there are 2 survivors or more constantly on you don’t try to pick e them up, slug them first. Worst case scenario they’ll get revived by the fourth person, who won’t be doing gens anymore at this point.
Every map has 8 gens. 3 of them are close. Those are the ones you generally don’t want to lose (because when there’s 1 gen remaining there will be 3 on the map, and if they’re close you have a powerful advantage in terms of map pressure/control).
Dont commit to a single chase for too long. If you see a guy click-clicking you with a flashlight, ignoring him is the best move. You’ll probably find him out of position sooner or later.
Learn what pallets are safe (mainly long loops and killer shack) and what pallets are unsafe. Break immediately safe pallets, force them to stun you and take the stun is necessary, but get those pallets out of the game as soon as you can, and then learn how to mind game unsafe pallets so you don’t need to break them ever again.
If you hook an annoying guy early and he’s been cocky, if you know they’re a SWF and they’re going to save him, camp him for a few seconds or look around for his friends.
A good advice I would give to anyone? Use Sloppy Butcher and hit everyone, always. Don’t ignore the guy who is bodyblocking, he’ll waste a full minute healing.
And one final thing that really helped me a lot years ago: try to mentally take note of who is using what. After Feng uses Lithe during a chase, try to remember that said player is using Lithe. Usually I’ll know what are all the perks in a game and who is using what, after some chases. So next time you’ll get close to that guy with Sprint Burst, you’ll make them waste a perk and do something else instead (kick the gen, go for another guy, fake your phasing, whatever).

I didn't have pop yet on my doc and it was hell to get it to show up on the bloodweb haha
Oh well that’s just DbD doing his thing ahah
-
We absolutely need some mechanic about that. Happened tons of times. I’d like something like “when a survivor doesn’t interact with anything in the game -except lockers- for more than X time, his aura is revealed” of course for a good, reasonable amount of time.
-
No it’s not difficult. It could be if you are Doc and the skillcheck is reversed or zappy, or maybe if paired with other perks (Huntress’Lullaby, Overwhelming Presence). Overall, not a perk I would suggest from purple ranks and above. If you need a perk to slow a single gen, use Pop instead.

Pretty sure people who act like Dead Hard was a killer-skill issue are just trolls. I didn't plan to edit and upload the clip against the tournament guys but here it is anyway (names censored for obvious reasons, includes both point of views, filmed his POV with my phone so excuse the terrible quality):
How can someone look at this and say Dead Hard is fine? I predicted his movements 100% accurately and got PUNISHED for it just because he pressed E. That's not tolerable in a PVP game.
Dead Hard is literally single player design in a multiplayer game.
He predicted your shot through a wall and acted accordingly, just the same way you predicted his movement and acted accordingly. Thing is, he had a perk to save himself ONCE during a chase from that situation, and that would have worked only if he predicted your actions. If you had, let’s say, that Demo useless perk to prevent him from using DH would he come to the forum and call it BS and single player logic?
I’m not even defending DH or the OP, I just don’t see your logic in that statement. Your opponent used a perk to counterplay your actions, which couldn’t have done if he had less game sense, reflexes etc. I don’t see anything “not competitive” in that.
There are actually a ton of mechanics like that in every (really) competitive game.
Honestly if I have to give my opinion about all of this, the problem isn’t Dead Hard. It’s gens and how coordination can end a game so fast. Always has been. You wouldn’t worry about losing 30 seconds because of a DH if the trial lasted more than 4 minutes.
-
I don’t know why people complain about Deathslinger, he’s balanced and hard to play as. Also hitbox sucks and many times my shots will go through survivors without hitting them, lol.
But to be quite honest, and please remember I’m saying this as a dedicated killer, Pyramid Head really has no counterplay. Everytime I don’t hit someone (ranged) is because I screw up the shot, not because they outplay me. If I don’t miss, there’s no way they can do anything to keep me busy. Also his base kit mori sided with the fastest animation in the game for it is kind of bs.
The only true counter to PH is stealth. And you can easily see why that doesn’t work most of the times.
-
Having been a pretty good trapper for a long time, he terrifies me when I play survivor. Like to the point I forget how to play the game. I’m constantly crippling my chase by myself because every time I try and use a loop I think there’s going to be a trap and lose lots of ground. But I do realize it’s in my head so I’ll take it, I just hate it.
Tombstone Myers is dumb and lame. There are lots of builds and variety to play MM in a fun way, it irritates me when someone uses it. You literally click on someone and remove them from the game. Wow, so fun.
Spirit is easy mode.
I suck at Billy because console & because I just suck at Billy. Blight has obviously the same issue.
All the other killers are fine to me, I’m pretty good with them (except Nurse, I’m not a good nurse, but I’ll still play her some times) and have fun with them.
Now what I will really refuse to play with and against is Huntress, because Huntresses have the bad habit to camp all of their hooks KNOWING that if they’re against solo queuers they won’t ever get punished for it. I actually never seen a huntress NOT camp every hook.
If it’s Iri Huntress I’ll just wait. If 2 or more survivors DC, which happens a lot, I’ll DC too. If they don’t I’ll just do a gen and if she comes near I won’t run and just let her kill me. There’s no point in wasting my time.
-
Actually they broke the game by doing something nobody asked them and reuniting thousands of killers and survivors under a new banner of rage.
BTW, BBQ encourages healthy gameplay because it makes the killer not camp, PGTW has a counter called “do the gens” and NOED... lmao.
-
DS is fine.
Pyramid Head is extremely overpowered.
MoM can still work.
Dwight players are usually good.
-
Never had a problem with DH, not even pc rank 1 survivors. And yeah you can bait it out all the time IMO.
I can agree to a degree that a 40 seconds cool down could be too generous for the exhaustion perks in general, they could be 60 seconds with a buff to Vigil (Quentin’s perk) to reduce them to 40 - with no chance to stack. That could slightly shift the meta.
-
Iri Huntress is actually one of the only 2 things where I will always side with survivors complaining. The other one being the Spirit.
Its not fun to get oneshotted without/with little counter play AND crappy hitboxes.
-
They rightfully quit because of the update.

Guess what, it would make me come back

The solution is shutting down youtube.

Same here. I’m just about so done with this game honestly. The new update has made everything even worse. Now I just said screw it and my last few games I’ve been running around trying to get the killer on me and being goofy.
Never played survivor a lot, but when I do I pretend my teammates act as efficiently as the survivors I face when I’m killer. If they don’t, I’ll just die and find another match.
-
@Dragonshensi said:
People may frown on it but I’ve done it a few times in some messed up cases. Like if everyone is already injured or downed and no gens are done I know it’s a lost cause or if my teammates are being extremely dumb or outright jerks. Had a few teammates before lead the killer right to me to lose him and then he downs me and hooks me. I’m usually done after that. I’m not helping someone who pulls those kind of stunts in a match. You can all burn by the entity for all I care. What is some of your stories of why you died on purpose on first hook?
If it’s 2+ minutes since the trial started, I get hooked and I see no gens done and other survivors running/crouchin/walking around without doing totems or gens, I’ll do it 100% of the times.
Happens more often than you’d think of.

Was the tunneling / camping aspect in the game better, the same or worse in 2016-2018?
oh I guess it depends who you ask to.
Brown/Yellow ranks have always been a camp fest. Green has always been a strange place to be. It is a mixed bag of good killers willingly deranking and bad killers using crutches against bad survivors that don’t know how to counter them. For example, with old Ruin (regression on good skillchecks) it was pretty usual to find green ranks Hags camping their totem.
Purple/Red is a different matter:
Huntresses have always been proxy camping, no matter what rank and what time you faced her, and I never understood why.
There was a time where Freddy was heavily buffed and he could completely ignore Borrowed Time (deep wound would go down outside of TR and Freddy doesnt have a TR -technically- if he hits you after you’re unhooked and send you in the nightmare) and tunneling was way more common than now.
Learherface was more of a camper before, because his chainsaw “recently” got buffed and can now last much longer/hence making him better in a chase and discouraging player from camping.
Other than that, and generally speaking, I thinks nothing else has changed from the past.

Thats fair enough, i just hope they don't give us the white silhouette survivor icons, i like seeing who is who
TBH if you’re a good player you know who is who all the time even if you were to play without a hud. If you aren’t a good player then hud is the last of your problems lol

@Frontdoor6 said:
I saw the Devs are gonna do some more changes to the new stuff we got, but i don't understand why some of them are needed.
Hitboxes: I've seen myself that they are weird on the Survivor side, so i won't argue there
Character movement: I don't get whats wrong with the movement, they move way more realistic than they did before
HUD: Another one i don't get. The names and hook timer could be bigger, but whats wrong with seeing the characters faces, i like them way more now that i can identify who is who, the white silhouetted figures were dull, the hook counts are good too.
Simple: the new animations don’t look more realistic to me. They look generic as hell, and some of them are completely awkward (standing still, injured running), robotic, cheap and amateur.
Even if they did look more realistic, realism is not the reason I loved DbD until two days ago. Previous animations looked just right, a perfect mix of scare and goofiness, and they were actually one of the reasons I fell in love with DbD in the first place.
Edit; sorry I completely forgot to mention the HUD.
Many people seem to be suffering from motion sickness, eye pain, headache. Personally I think it is worse than before but not catastrophic. I do think that it looks amateur, bland, soulless, like some random free to play android game HUD, and I do prefer having all of the info in a single place of the screen, but I didn’t experience “issues” with it. I did avoid to watch it because everything was too scattered.

- You still can do this, for all the good this really does against Huntress or Deathslinger. The animation is just less twitchy now and more gradual.
- You can definitely still 360, it's just a little harder to do effectively. Same with moonwalking.
- I don't agree with this.
- You still can spin on the ground, just not the same way as before. I also wasn't aware that spinning was meant to communicate anything - 1100 hours and I've never seen someone do that as I approached that wasn't recovered. Usually you can tell if someone's been recovering by whether or not they've been crawling. If they hold still for a while, they're recovering. If they start crawling again after holding still for a while, they're ready to be picked up. Also how is this a meme?
- I'm not sure what you mean. Is this issue that the characters actually stand up straight now? It's not robotic lol, it's just how people look when they stand up straight. Before everyone was more hunched over.
- I don't think anything changed with the hitboxes, but people will learn and adjust if their muscle memory is off.
You're right that it's not purely cosmetic, but the changes are very minor, not drastic. I still don't understand how changing the animations killed any memes or how these (apparently very underground) memes are important enough to be synonymous with the games identity. That feels like a stretch to say the least.
From your point of view it may be a stretch. Meanwhile there are thousands of people who stopped playing the game and won’t come back unless this is reverted 😂 and there are 12 pages of comments under the community manager’s feedback post saying that the new animations are awful and kill immersion and atmosphere in the game. You can have your opinion and think differently, this won’t change the fact that the game health is now terribly worse than 2 days ago.
Man the game is horrendous right now. 10 people saying otherwise won’t help the others come back.
-
Nothing. If you are a decent killer, you know at what hook stage every survivor is at any moment in every trial. You don’t need a thing on a screen to know how to count from 1 to 3.

On Pc, maybe. On consoles, you can’t.

@[Deleted User] said:

Could you link me one of these detailed explanations, then?
They clearly wanted more feedback than the initial impressions of a small group of PC players before making any changes. There was never any chance of them reverting the animations in this patch if they wanted to get feedback from console players. The console players just got the changes yesterday. Were you expecting 11 AM 4.5.0, a few hours of console feedback, and then 5 PM 4.5.1 with all new animations removed? Like what could they have possibly done lol
No I couldn’t do a research right now I’ll try to sum up some of the core points:
- you can’t quickly flick left/right like before. This means where you would try and fake a direction to dodge a Huntress/Deathslinger shot, now you will be hit no matter what.
- you can’t 360 anymore
- it seems to be harder to fake a vault because the injured animation is weird to see from the killer perspective
- you can’t spin on the ground. Aside from removing the meme, this means solo queuers cannot communicate if they didn’t recover. I don’t consider this point to be important, but hey, it does exists.
- because of the new robotic standing animation it is way harder to instantly hide behind objects without crouching
- the injured animation is messing with muscle memory (something like the Freddy’s lunge effect) because it feels a lot slower, hence people are wasting pallets early only to be hit through them because hitbox is even more messed up
There is more, but as you can see not only the gameplay has drastically changed at high levels of play, I also think that removing the memes is kind of killing the identity of the game itself.
edit; also please note that aside from modifying gameplay elements, the new animations are killing the immersion for many players. Which, in a game like DbD, is... not good.

How does changing animations change gameplay? As far as I know this is cosmetic only. And how did they lie about the animations?
it is absolutely not purely cosmetic. Survivors locomotion has changed in every way, even gameplay wise, but this comment would be thousands of lines if I were to explain how. There are already tons of detailed explanation on the forum about this.
The lying part is because they implemented the new animations in the PTB and received lots (I mean LOTS) of negative feedback about it, but then they said they had to test it on the console players (because there is no PTB on console) to decide what to do about it. Few hours after they released the patch, a community manager wrote instead that the patch is out and can’t be reverted, making us assume it wasn’t a test at all.

They didn't mess up big, though. The state of the Binding of Kin DLC at launch? That was a big mess up. This is a purely cosmetic issue that is more of a matter of personal taste than anything else. I don't love the HUD, but it's fine. You'd think the devs murdered everyone's dogs with how the reaction has been on the forum. This is the forum crying wolf about the devs destroying their game and I feel it's just giving them less reason to take feedback seriously when something really is broken.
People notoriously hate any UI changes, regardless of whether or not they're good or bad, until they get used to them. That's worth considering when considering lots of day 1 hate for a new HUD.
If people would actually frame their arguments well and stay civil instead of just angrily spamming about things that would be a lot more constructive and helpful for the developers.
Changing how survivor movement works is changing 99% of the survivor’s gameplay. They changed 50% of the entire game (gameplay wise) in a way that most of the player base doesn’t enjoy. And lied about that.
If that is not messing up big I don’t know what that is.

I’ve never had the devs back or side in the updates they’ve threw at us because something bad always happens. But at this rate, and with all the whining, the devs are more mature than the player base at this moment. I used to have the mindset that they were immature when it came to the core of Dead By Daylight but it’s now the opposite. Yeah no one asked for this but they didn’t ask you or anyone else if they’re allowed to because you know what? , It’s THEIR game NOT YOURS and they have a right to do things the way they want when they want.
Oh of course they can do whatever they want. They also have the right to play the game with the 5 people who will be left if they don’t do anything, of course.
Just a note: it’s also my game, I paid for it, they ruined it, and I have the right to be pissed off :)

Okay seriously I don’t see how anyone could say the new animations look more realistic than the old ones. They look cheaper and even older. By a ton.
In reality, when I try to walk slowly sneaking by someone/something I walk exactly like old walking animation. The new one looks robotic and fake to me, and out of context mostly.

No, people need to stop acting like a snotty ungrateful 8 year old who didn’t get the super nice expensive toy that they wanted for Christmas. It’s safe to assume most people here on the forums are over 18+ years of age yet they’re still acting like a 8 year old over a HUD system.
Yeah so what? They changed the bones of the game they loved for the past 4-5 years, and you think they are wrong to be whining on a childish level? That will never be as childish as the devs intended deafness in releasing this distasterpiece. Honestly I’m being childish too, I don’t care how people behave, I just want the game I bought 5 times back.

This community is starting to become sad and pathetic at this point.....
Those “2-3 year old outdated animations” were a big part of this game’s soul. DbD never has been a game about graphics or newer animations and such, it has always been about gameplay. Movement is 99% of a survivors gameplay and they reworked it, making it actually an entirely different game.
No one is overreacting, they changed the bones of a game we loved for the past 4-5 years.
I don’t see how anyone with more than 100 hours in the game could disagree with me, but I’ll respect every opinion. Most importantly I don’t understand how anyone could not see that the new animations are simply BAD, they look like much older than the old ones.
-
The survivor look like robots.
I don’t think I could be more clear than that. It’s not only about how they look, but more about how it feels.
It now feels clunky, slow, and boring.
The feeling of playing survivor was very unique before, and honestly it should have been untouched to preserve the game’s identity. I am specifically talking about the running and running while injured animations.
