hehe I do this a lot usually because I'm just bad though and the survivors get cocky and three gen themselves without any effort on my part.
I did once pretend to be stuck in animation revving my bubba saw, just pressing forward and back in succession really quickly while 99'ing the saw for 2 mins. All the survivors crowded around to butt dance and taunt in front of me and then I let rip. 4k with one gen left. You gotta cherish the little things.
Alright, that genuinely made me laugh.

tell me what perk i crossed are you using?
are these perks usefull against rank1's? are these perks helping to survive? to waste time of the killer? do they help against Godlike playing killers? do they help against a Nurse, Spirit or huntress? or are they meme builds?
im not talking about meme builds you can use in a SWF im talking about useful perks to survive to waste time to have fun. and if needed to carry the potatos in your team. can you carry your team with vigil? plunderers, ace in the hole? perks what increases gen speed are useless (gens are already quick) do the crossed perks help against Camping or Tunneling? or even against slugging? if i meme around yes i can also run the crossed perks. but if i wanna successful these perks wont help.
In no particular order, I use the following that you crossed out (among others, I don't have the patience to go through all the perks I use and see which ones you crossed out):
- Dark Sense
- Alert
- Aftercare
- Urban Evasion
And I'm trying to get more, like Poised and Inner Strength. They help me survive and escape, but they're catered to my playstyle.
You prefer a more aggressive playstyle, which is why you rate second-chance perks as "useful" and the rest as "useless". I prefer never being seen by the killer and/or knowing where the killer is at all times, along with my teammates.
I have success with my stealth builds, the same way you do with your second-chance builds. Different perks for different play styles. Why should every single survivor perk cater to your playstyle?

I’m too impatient hehe. I buy new chapters day 1. I’m comfortable with that.
Fair enough.

Not the future ones you don't. I have almost 18k shards that I'm saving up to get the next (non-licensed) characters "for free".

Meh, I’ve already got all the cosmetics I want, and any I don’t require auric cells. I have every perk, so I may as well use em for BP. I mean what else will I use shards for?
Characters?
-
"Useful" is relative because different perks are good for different playstyles (for example, many of the survivor perks you crossed out are perks I personally use and find useful, due to my playstyle). That said, both things can be true. There are survivor perks that are too powerful and others that are too weak. They're not mutually exclusive statements.

I've inadvertently done something like this before.
Had that tome challenge to chase people for 90 seconds with Distressing on, so I just goofed off for the first half of the game...ahem, "chasing" people. There was one Claudette in particular that probably thought she was some looping god because I seemed unable to catch her.
Eventually they stopped doing gens and all ran over to click flashlights and teabag at the "baby killer" who clearly was no threat to them. Then they all started getting smacked. The Claudette was probably especially confused when she retreated back to the same loop from before and was immediately downed. 🤣
Post-game chat was conspicuously silent.
That's why my strategy worked. Some survivors see it coming, others not so much.
-
@Danu said:
Definitely in part due to the tome challenges but it is so satisfying as a survivor going to endgame screen and seeing you prevented it.
I had a match a few days ago against a legion who seemed kinda friendly, only really frenzied, never downed anyone but lately that's become a bit suspect, like they condition survivors to trust them and hit with noed at the end.
I just happened to be running small game and detectives hunch for the tome challenges though and when he did start m1ing after all gens were done and you could tell instantly he was expecting it to proc, especially when he hooked someone and bloodwarden activated
Yeah, I was actually very excited because I thought survivors were finally countering NOED for once. It'd certainly make my survivor games more enjoyable. Then I found out it was just because of the tome challenges. Very sad.

Yea if they are being dicks IDGAF what you do.
I'm just sayin' I've encountered killers that pretend to be rank 20's then turn into rank 1's the moment they get the opportunity to slug everyone or use NOED/BW or something, even when we play nice because we don't want to booly a rank 20.
And that's why I always escape ASAP and don't underestimate my opponents. As a killer I might show mercy to obviously bad survivors, but as a survivor the risk is too great.

@Dolls said:
I always go break all totems first thing. I hate when my team falls to NOED. It's always exciting when in end screen I see the killer brought NOED and I prevented it.

The idea being to make it closer to a anti tunnel perk. If you're chasing them within 30 seconds of an unhook I feel no sympathy for you getting hit with DS.
And the slugging part?
-
@NHD said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340323#Comment_1340323
that was an hyperbole. and getting hit by a killer that is double your speed at least one time is not a mistake, its an inevitable happening when you already have to activate gens, among other things. four downed players cannot heal each other.
Killers are, at most, 15% faster by default.
Four downed players didn't get on the floor by themselves, they were outplayed. This is a consequence of failure.

just because it's in the game doesn't mean it was intended nor does it mean it is balanced. It's a cheap and broken tactic that does not create a fun or even competitive experience in a game that should be both.
It was intended. That's why it has a timer (so the killer can't just go AFK and slug you forever) and perks that can either counter or support slugging. It is quite balanced. According to OP, only "trash killers" use it, so you should be fine as long as you're better than a "trash killer". I know I am.

Safety Nets? survivors cannot fight back in any way beyond ds and flashlights, and you think simply saying that people should be able to stand up without a perk after laying on the ground for 5 minutes is a safety net? your perspective on balance is warped
- You can't lay on the ground for 5 minutes, the bleed-out timer is 4 minutes and not one second longer.
- Yes, saying people shouldn't suffer consequences for their mistakes is the definition of a safety net.

Great go on then, keep allowing the game to die. Have fun :)
I literally just asked you for your reasoning. That's what normal people do in a conversation.
PS: The game has gotten more players over time since launch. Sounds like you agree slugging isn't an issue, then.
-
@NHD said:
It is a problem. period
I agree, it's a problem when people refuse to use counters for strategies and then demand those strategies be ruined outright by providing them with safety nets.
-
@NHD said:
from a legion main perspective/ rank 1/ I agree that slugging should not exist because I've played as a survivor and watched the killer go afk as we all died.
Bring Unbreakable.

@Xify said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340286#Comment_1340286
If you don't have the perk and you are downed too long you should be able to stand back up, it shouldn't even be an argument.
If all 4 players are slugged they should be able to get back up without perks.
Why? What's your justification for demanding more safety nets?
-
@NHD said:
Slugging all 4 people and/or 3 if one leaves, and then going afk until everyone dies doesn't seem like a problem to you?
Feeding a killer who's camping a dying survivor, refusing to equip perks to deal with being slugged, and demanding that those perks be made base abilities seems like a problem to me.
-
@Xify said:
Also another thing, after I run a killer around too long they finally get me then camp the hook. You guys are probably that type of killer.
Why wouldn't a killer try to get at least 1k if they already lost? Are you under the impression that they should let you go?
-
@Xify said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340278#Comment_1340278
It shouldn't happen at all
It won't, if you bring one of the perks that were mentioned in this thread and/or stop feeding killers who do this.
-
@Xify said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340249#Comment_1340249
Tell me how downing one player then camping him to down others is good? Then him going AFK with us all downed. Makes sense bud
Why did you feed the killer, then, if you knew what he was doing? 4 minutes+chase time is more than enough to finish all the gens and leave.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Thats certainly a dickmove, however, this does not occur on a frequent basis, so there is not anything that needs to be fixed.
Yeah, just to be clear, OP, I also think that it's a dick move.
-
@Xify said:
Why should I have to bring a perk that only picks me up once. Someone in that game had the perk but he just reslugged him. Whats your excuse now?
You should bring it because you can't counter all these "trash killers" otherwise.
No excuse needed. No perk will save you if you don't plan ahead.
-
Unbreakable does exactly what you want. Why don't you bring it along?
-
@BlindMole said:
Make it so you also gain a token when repairing a generator, and for each token you can see the killer's aura for 4 seconds
Dark Sense says "hi".
-
@Callmehandsome said:
Only thing DS needs is that if you start healing or repairing action the timer should move 2-3x faster. If you can repair generator you aren't being tunneled but just carried with a perk.
Nah, disable it outright when you start repairing a generator, get into a locker, or are fully healed, and when the killer downs someone else.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
I think the timer is a bit too generous. I'd move it down to 30 seconds. I'd also pause the timer while in chase and if you get slugged.
So shorten the timer, but remove the only quasi-counter it has?

Oh the humanity, all the survivors pouring everything into Luck :)
Luck just needs to be reworked in general but I only added the Luck part to keep some old part of Up the Ante
To be clear, "all the luck perks and offerings" is one perk (Up The Ante) and four offerings. Leaves 12 free perk slots (3 per survivor).
-
@Jakojo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1340046#Comment_1340046
I guess not? I really don't see how it will be.
Let me put it this way: if you stack all the luck perks and offerings you have right now, you have something like a 96% chance to self-unhook after 3 attempts.
-

I give up, I'll leave you guys to complaining about a already nerfed perk.
It was nerfed once, from infinite duration to 60 seconds, but the stun was buffed. Furthermore, the stun was buffed because Enduring used to affect it back when it was 3 seconds, yet when Enduring was nerfed, the stun remained at 5 seconds.
Just laying out some facts.
-
Do you have any idea how broken that would be?

My problem is when im solo and do like 3 or 4 totems and hope one of the other survivors did the last one or 2 and then im the one who gets hit with it even though i did the best i could personally do.
I hear you. I play SWF but even we can't always get every totem. If NOED comes into play I rip the other survivors a new one in the chat. They just have to do one totem each, and we'll take care of the other three, how hard is that?

I complain BECAUSE I do the counter and still get punished.
I also complain. To other survivors, not BHVR. The counter is there, it's the survivors' fault they don't use it. That's also why I made this appreciation thread, because survivors who do this deserve praise.
-
@[Deleted User] said:

If you patrol gens while not far from the hook, you will have plenty of time to get a free hit to start a chase or down someone. I haven't had any DS issues because I play that way with a multitude of killers. So yes it is efficient if you understand DS is just a anti tunneler perk that's worthless after a one time use.
Unless you're too good at chasing and downing survivors, because then the guy with the still-active DS can unhook in your face and there's nothing you can do about it. It's almost like it's not an anti-tunneling perk at all, but 60 seconds of "killer can't pick me up".

Once everything gets the challanges done i think it'll go back to normal again i wouldn't worrie about it but one Challenge on page 3 of tome 3 specifically calls for an escape was 0 totems left in the map im sure that might me be the one getting you
I'd say its just the tome causing it
That makes sense. Well, I'll swap it out anyway and see what happens. Maybe my trials will go better.

I'm just so over versing this dumb perk that it's now my personal objective to do everything I can to prevent it from occurring.
Doesn't matter, you're awesome for actually using its counter instead of just complaining about it.

@TheOhioHutcH said:
I've done it as well have to seen the Survivor challenges in tome 3
Im pretty sure there is 3 or 4 challanges for cleansing totems i got them all in my games i had when i was doing the challanges
I didn't see all the challenges, I just kinda do the ones I find easier depending on whether I'm playing killer or survivor, but that makes sense. However, one of the groups claimed it was just out of fear of NOED. If this keeps happening, I might replace NOED with something more useful, like Corrupt Intervention.

I had a killer pull something like this (though way more egregious). But I don't consider it being "outplayed" because we thought we were against a rank 20 and didn't want to bully them. We were trying to farm, to be nice, because currently its super common for me and my SWF, as all rank 1's, to get a rank 20 killer. We don't want to bully them.
Honestly it's a pretty scumbag tactic. What do you get out of this? It's like those people that pretend to be disabled or homeless so people give them money.
Yeah, they weren't farming. Farming would've been letting me hit them, for example, instead of teabagging at every pallet. If they'd tried to farm, I would've taken pity on them and played to the full extend of my ability (or just farmed along with them).
What I got out of this was a 4k that I would've have trouble getting otherwise. Even then it was difficult at the end because Claudette is ######### invisible and we all knew where the hatch was.

Oh my ######### god if you seriously call a game tactic scumbag and then compare it to a real life issue you need to get a ######### life. I heard taking a walk could lengthen your life. If that's not possible, a simple exercise can get blood flowing into your brain.
Cool story btw. I do similar tactic but on the survivor side.
How do you do this on the survivor side, though? I know killers can be merciful sometimes, but not always.
@ABannedCat said:
I sometimes do the opposite.
I will equip a yellow mori or a shroud offering and not even try to win, to make survivors genrush me in 4 minutes. No one gets any points, they enter another 10 minutes queuetime, while I as killer get an instant lobby, and then equip an actual mori, muhaha!
But why?

I love your Story Time posts.
I love matches like this where survivors are lulled into a false sense of security, only realising their hubris far too late.
Thank you. I'm glad someone appreciates them.
Playing like this is a gamble, though. Far too often they don't underestimate me and I end up getting stomped. Remember, these stories are curated, like video compilations. They're not the norm. If the survivors had been better, they would've seen it coming and focused on those 4 gens before the others, forcing me to let them repair at least one of them.

Nah, I'm not that great. If I go full tryhard and have access to every perk, sure, I can reach rank 1, but when playing normally, I hover just above rank 10 as killer (currently rank 8).

If a mori suddenly becomes useless because the killer actually has to work for his kills, then I don't know what to tell you. Spare me yet another paragraph of why you love moris though, I'm pretty sure I've already seen three of those coming from you.
A mori becomes useless when hooking them is better in every conceivable way except the unique animations.
