  • I mean gen-rush is a thing but it's rare and I doubt that the killer camping you got gen-rushed.

Gen rush is when survivors, usually a SWF split up on 3 separate gens at the beginning of the game with toolboxes. By the time the killer has found someone and is midway through a chase 2-3 gens have already gone. if they don't split up then there's still alot you can do as a killer even at the start of the game especially with a ruin + undying + tinkerer build.

A Killer can win without tunneling, Survivors cannot win without doing Gens.

EDIT: And also... Just look at the number of DS-Complaints. Quite a bunch of Killers tunnel :^)

People complain about DS because it can be used offensively outside of tunneling. Alot of killers have already suggested boosting its anti-tunnel (make it have more than one use per game) in exchange for not being able to do objectives. Idk there's been a bunch of videos made on it each with a different suggestion. However, to reduce all complaints of DS to wanting to tunnel survivors is a pretty shameless strawman ngl.

  • first off, I agree that blight is also a strong but hard killer but he's not remotely on the same level as nurse even if you master him. You still have to use m1-killer looping sometimes at certain loops etc. You can definitely get consistent 4ks at high ranks if you master him for sure tho.

  • GF's is the strongest of the stealth killers but I feel like his power doesn't have much depth. I think wraith+addons you have more options.

    Also

He can do nothing at loops, has no mobility and your power which doesn't help with either has a cooldown for every reveal/hit.

  • DS will activate indiscriminately whether you're being genuinely tunneled or a sperg who runs straight to the killers face and gets downed again.

  • I think bubba can be good outside of him being able to camp very well.

  • Nah devs were way too cautious with this killer and with the recent buffs they're still being overly cautious with the killer powers. The power sounds OP on paper but it's comically weak in practice. People will still buy her but the PTB definitely killed the hype especially for new players.

PTB should generally start off with the killer being strong and then you can introduce counters, cooldowns and nerfs in response to the feedback. Devs essentially released an already nerfed killer.

All of the data I have on Pig indicate she is in the top third of Killers for performance.

Who's the worst killer on that list then?

  • I would say good survivors do it just as much.

    Why?

Because playing survivor is alot less engaging and most games you have alot of downtime (doing gens, healing people) so they're usually just bored.

  • Looping is fine. If they could add more mindgameable loops (AKA loops that block line of site for both killer and survivor) then I think that would be good.

  • If they added back that glitch where you could hear her but have it actually be calibrated for chases and have the killer know when they're making those sound then I think that'd could be a fair rework for her.

Doesn't have to be sound, any sort of feedback that the survivor can get when the spirit is phasing. If this hypothetically hurts spirit players too much, I wouldn't mind buffing the amount of time they can use their power in exchange.

  • The idea of their power is decent so hopefully B/C tier by the time they're out but currently they're the worst killers in the game in practice.

  • I don't think the game could handle that much motion

  • Killer because alot of time is spent as survivor is doing gens and healing people and you might not even end up in a chase for that much anyway. Then there's also playing solo survivors and watching your team just act like idiots.

With killer there's only like a few seconds of downtime when you're looking for survivors or kicking gens.

  • I would say it's cheap and unfair but definitely not OP. I would probably do worse overall if I had NOED using up a perk slot instead of a gen regression perk or an aura/info perk like BBQ.

  • It's really bad to play on except with nurse because of those looong fences and they're usually right next to a filler loop as well.

  • People complain about his reveal mechanic but his power is already so weak compared to other killers that I don't think the revealing him is that vital.

Stealth at high rank games gets you some free hits in early game.

Imagine IF you could depower spirit just by looking at her

  • I think 3 yamaokas would be too much imo but I would like another new killer who's connected lore-wise to one of the killers we already have.

  • I feel like you can do more interesting things with wraith compared to gf tbh especially with his add-ons.

  • Any killer that has real anti-loop or makes survivors have to change their playstyle at loops will be disliked.

  • The perk isn't that strong but rather most stealth killers are weak

Generally have no mobility (Wraith with his addons maybe?), no anti-loop (They can hide their red stain at some loops I guess.) and their instadowns are not on demand (99ing doesn't count) require stalks and they lose it after a certain period of time.

Stealth and getting free surprise hits is all they have so having a perk that counters that really hurt thems and again they're not high tier killers like spirit, nurse etc

don't I lose a stack every time I use a saw token? PWYF seems pretty useless on him.

Don't you lose a token for all killer attacks with PWYF. Don't think it's like Save the best for last where killers like demo can avoid losing tokens. I haven't used either perks in a while so correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway it doesn't matter if you lose a token for a saw since you're getting a downed survivor in exchange. The extra speed compliments his power well since it allows you to get close and use your m2 much sooner so they don't reach a window/pallet and you're forced to m1.

  • Since people have already given good tips:

You should give the nemisis+PWYF bubba build a try.

I roll up to every game with Detective’s Hunch and Inner Strength. And you’d better believe I end up cleansing every single totem by the end of the game.

I almost feel bad for Killers that run hexes against me because they’re just giving me more points and my build more value. Most people think Ruin/Undying is crazy overpowered... I just think it’s extra bloodpoints lol

I mean it still has value since you're spending time travelling around the map and doing totems and therefore not doing gens. If the killer gets a hook there'll be only one person doing a gen which he can go pressure if he has tinkerer or another information perk.

Detective's hunch also requires gens to be done.

Lets do like in Identity V then.

Because of your witty idea to remove grabs, Survivors are now by default ( no warnings) exposed when performing any action or vault.

What? Were you expecting the removal of grabs to be without balance consequences or compensations?

Alternatively, why is healing/mending not also a grabbing option too?

I don't want to remove grabs

This thread is only about hook grabs which I also don't want to be removed. Just want to know what people think about them. I'm assuming most people including survivor mains don't care about them since they're not that common.

  • Detective's hunch and empathy for underrated

  • I perceive trapper as more of a threat when I play survivor tbh

Nowadays those maps are ez-pz at purple, i can't seem to actually get a challenging match. However, if you need help go buy thrilling in the shrine, its really good at tracking and meh at stopping gens because if a gen is close to popping but no one is on it that gives you time to get to the gen and pop it.

Yeah but its got a 60 second cooldown

Again no, unless they call the mind game it ends the chase. I don't see where this "few seconds" comes from.

the only mindgame i can think of that does that is the look one way and move another in short safe loops to cut the number of loops down, almost every other mind game ends the chase then and there.

If you follow an experienced survivor in a straight line chases take up to minutes. one succesfull mind game ends it for the survivor without the aid of perks.

mindgames take minutes of a chase not seconds. I'm sorry but i don't think you know what a mindgame is. the video's above should help a lot.

And I'll add one to it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPExWQ5_UjY

I don't think that's true. Alot of times mindgame can just result in a very early pallet drop instead of a hit and I'm fairly sure that's mentioned in that video you linked aswell.

  • I think the game wouldn't be able to handle jumping/flying killers and it would be really buggy most likely.

  • This is going to be a very constructive thread /s

  • I've only mained post-nerf nurse and she's still really strong. Cooldowns and fatigues are still frustrating regardless of how good you are doing in a game but she's still the best killer by far and her power is difficult enough to warrant being that strong

    @Acromio said:

@op We know. Don't listen to those who tell you she's still good. "Fun" fact: if you just keep running in a straight line, she can't catch up to you.

Are you saying she can't catch up with blinks if u hold W because if so that isn't true.

  • @Orion said:

I think revealing Ghostface should have some drawback to him, other than losing his stealth and stalking. I was thinking something like slowing him for one second (say, the Shape's stalking speed at EW I), or the survivor who revealed him has their stalking meter decreased/depleted, or even both.

My reasoning here is that revealing Ghostface is nearly 100% detrimental to survivors, which shouldn't happen in a counter. Sure, he lost his stealth, but he also knows where the survivor who revealed him is and doesn't lose any momentum (literally and figuratively). IMO, there should be some active repercussions for getting revealed.

He has no mobility, no anti-loop. All he has is his stealth and stalk which goes into cool-down after every hit. Adding a consequence on top of being essentially powerless for x amount of time would be way too much for him.

  • @justtrynaplay said:

So after having played this game for quite some time as both killer and survivor i can say without a doubt that looping and being looped are in my opinion some of the most boring moments of gameplay that i have experienced second only to doing survivor objectives so i thought i’d make a post here to see if others agree or disagree and maybe people could give justifications to their opinion

as survivor looping is quite boring because there is no variation it is usually just run around a tile until either the window gets blocked or the pallet is dropped and destroyed whilst there is skill involved it just feel boring especially when the most optimal way to do this is to do so until the killer loses interest rather than when the killer loses sight of you

as killer survivors do as above and you either have to mind game which only really works if there is a line of sight blocker or hope they mess up if it’s in the middle of nowhere and it becomes even more boring with slow killers or killers that have to brute force the loop

another thing is that people generally get ######### on for running stealth perks and while i do find the people who just hide and do nothing annoying stealth does feel like an interesting way to shake things up

so basically i want to know the communities thoughts about looping and other potential playstyles that may be better or just more fun for both sides

There are already a bunch of killers that already subvert the common looping playstyle and can do other stuff aside from red stain mindgames:

Nurse: You should not be "looping" a nurse unless she's really bad

    Pyramid head with his M2s

Doctor: You can get people even with the pallet down with his shocks

    Spirit

    Clown

    Huntress sometimes

    Freddy with his snares.

Thanata's change makes 100% sense - you're supposed to want to heal, you shouldn't be punished for trying to do that.

Sure, just bump up the gen slow down numbers a bit so they're equivalent to the slow-down to momentum given previously by the heal-slowdown.

1% extra for completely losing heal-slowdown was just not a fair trade.

  • No I don't think getting 4 slugs is that easy from the killer perspective and then to not recover from that slugging is usually the survivors fault. Compared to camping or tunneling, 4k slugs are way less problematic imo.

Slugging is also the only slight counter to DS. Provided that they don't have unbreakable, which you will see in some games.

Some killers like Oni get the most out of their power by slugging so it would be an indirect nerf to them.

  • I don't think her teleport is that disorientating tbh. Her fatigue and cool down is the only negative even though they're there so she's more balanced.

Hide post game chat of "ggez, get good" which I had to do 2 months back playing with no addons or perks, just learning her little attack methods and be patient with yourself. If they T-bag, ignore it, if they spam the vaults and pallets to deafen you with alerts, toss the sound off. Blink once to overshoot (a rough idea where a person is) and blink again to fine tune yourself to hit them. Experience is the best teacher.

You can do this or you can also set up a KYF and just practice blinks.

There's also an add-on called plaid flannel that will visually show you her blink locations. I wouldn't use it too much though.

Some objects/wall take holding the blink longer than you think to go through them.

If you look down during a blink, provided you're not near a basement. You won't move anywhere.

  • The current ranking system can stay but I'd like another one alongside it that was more meaningful.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/195719/can-we-change-bt-to-work-off-proximity-instead-of-tr

To begin saying you are a killer main doesn't make me believe it. Secondly while I do agree freddy shouldn't be able to completely ignore BT, stealth killers are already pretty crap, and if a stealth killer is camping just do the gens and escape leaving that wraith with a 1k and a depip.

Yeah but do you really need to go for a survivor that has just been unhooked? Just chase the survivor saving them. If they increased the mend time slightly to discourage body-blocking using BT, then I wouldn't mind it being proximity based.

  • Did I say something strange? Just telling him to consider the perks each killer has.

  • @SonicTheRestaurant said:

Okay so I just posted a discussion asking if Ghostface was good but now I am having mixed thoughts about buying him.

Who is the best licensed killer?

Freddy but I would prioritize perks over everything else when it comes to the licensed killers especially if you're only able to buy one. Bubba has BBQ which you'll definitely need.

  • @SonicTheRestaurant said:

    Is bubba any good then?

Better than gf imo and if you haven't bought BBQ from shrine of secrets already you'll be able to get one of the best perks in the game from him.

GF has thrilling which is also good but no where near BBQ

  • Not really.

You can do nothing at filler loops unlike nurse, spirit, PH, Hunteress (sometimes), doctor, clown, freddy with his slowdown etc

You can hide your red stain at other loops but I don't think that makes a big difference and using your ability just to mindgame at a loop is usually a waste.

Strong stealth but you can get revealed and you lose it as soon as you hit someone and in that time you're essentially a powerless m1 killer.

    No mobility

You can instadown people but his stalk can consume time and turn out pretty unreliable.

  • I have been finding cross-play lobbies alot easier to against as a killer on PC tbh. I switched to crossplay midway through practicing blight and the games were easier imo. Could just be anecdotal though.

Hehe, yeah, that's a glitch though, and it doesn't take into account any of my suggestions here.

Ik, just thought it was somewhat relevant. Even though it's a 2v3 and a glitch.

  • Either way don't like how survivors just ask for a straight nerf for him. Atleast suggest somewhere he can buffed in exchange for losing his "zoning" or insane 1v1s. Eg: giving him better map pressure. As he is right now, he's still a C tier killer as far as meta goes.

  • I can probably see through that corn more easily as a fatiguing nurse than just a normal blight and he has a fatigue as well. His POV is pretty bad.
