But if you were able to avoid playing the second match you wouldn't have been in a mood
Also do you play Killer???
Nothing to do with being in a “mood”. I just value my time and won’t entertain it being wasted so flagrantly. Whether I’m being slugged for 4 minutes or spending 5 minutes waiting between matches to avoid the slugging, these griefers have still succeeded in wasting my time. It’s a lose-lose situation.
Not that it’s relevant either, but yes, I’m a killer main.

Quick question... and please don't take this the wrong way
Did you wait at least 5 minutes after the first match before starting the queue up again...
And I have nothing to say on the Plauge match screenshot
I have only played 1 match in CS as Killer and I only ended up with 1 Kill that came with the EGC
But it seems that Killer players have become used to the Perks they use and want to "win" (and little can be done about that... and I am 1 of them minus the "winning" part) so throwing them 4 random Perks doesn't end well
Did you wait at least 5 minutes after the first match before starting the queue up again...
No, and at that point it wouldn’t even be worth playing. If I’m spending 4 minutes on the ground and 5 minutes waiting (plus time for match making and loading) that’s over 10 minutes wasted before I can hop into another match just to try and avoid griefers.
Plus, what difference does it make anyways? The 3rd match was against a different person doing the exact same thing.

That sucks. Please don't take this as me trying to justify this in any way, I'm just curious. It looks like all gens were done and the killer didn't hook once. Were they slugging all match like this or did they just go postal at the end?
All match

I really hope your next matches will be better because that was one player. There are many other killers who play this game modifier
Thanks I appreciate it. I just switched to playing killer for now. Will try survivor again tomorrow I think. Currently levelling up Houndmaster.

All generators completed in the first screenshot and four in the second... That's what I call a close game. At some point you missplayed and he knocked everyone, that's all. You can complain all you want about letting everyone bleed out to death unnecessarily, but not about a legit strategy.

This is every other match during events. Had the same exact problem during 2024’s Twisted Masquerade. It’s not every killer, but it’s enough.

Well, the survivors will be dead soon, and the killer will win.
Okay, and why couldn't they hook us instead of making us wait 4 minutes on the ground?

I believe the block button prevents them from adding you as a friend in-game, but other than that it doesn't really do anything.

Really don't understand why this behavior isn't managed. As a dev, why would you want these people playing your game and ruining it for everyone game after game?
Sadly because a vocal group on these foums insist that it's just the killer "doing their job" and not a method of griefing their opponents. They resent the idea that they won't be able to annoy the other side.

Do you play on EU region? I tend not to play survivor at all during events unless it's 2v8 for this reason. I watch NA streamers but it's never this bad or frequent.
Yeah, EU. This kind of thing is very common unfortunately. I'm a 60:40 killer main but think I'm just gonna drop survivor for good and focus entirely on killer because my survivor matches lately have been miserable.
-
@Interrupt_Vector said:
Oh no the killer in a game about killing people killed people.
You know fully well that's not what's going on here. It's not about the killer killing survivors, it's about them choosing to go about it in the most obnoxious way possible and waste everyone's time in the process.

Yep! Never used to have any problems and then last October I started having some issues and it's only gotten worse and worse since then. IMO their servers probably aren't equipped to handle as much traffic as they're getting and that's why packets are being dropped.

Not quite as easy in practise as it is on paper, see above. 😅
Having a hitbox you have maintain its orientation is not so simple, because you have do multiple calculations to rotate something. You to move it the middle of the world, rotate it, then move it back. Obviously we do this all the time for animations but hitboxes are often made very rudimentary to simplify calculations and collisions as much as possible.
Generally speaking, the vertical capsule for survivors is good enough and actually better for DBDs loop gameplay. It makes it so that swinging at a survivors head is better than swinging at their butt. Imagine your m1 melee attack is a block that comes out the killer... (its probably a ball on your killers hand that they drag sideways, but I don't know if that's how it works, so let's treat it as a block... the idea remains the same). As I throw my attack, what is closer to me? With a vertical capsule, it's the top of the capsule directly on your eye line as you swing that's closer... with a slanted capsule it's perpendicular to the slant...
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XUIRBNGF13T6/sketch-1736852481182.png
As such we would all have to aim down just to fix this issue for Huntress... and as I say checking this collision is more performance intensive as you have to maintain an orientation for the capsul and move it with the survivors movement, rather than a simple and less error prone "survivor on this coordinate, so hitbox is here" logic.
It's the same for the hatchet, ther is a need to maintain the orientation of the hatchet when calculating hitboxes in a revised version, rather than a simple "hatchet on this coordinate, hitbox is here".
Now to be fair, to my knowledge, Huntress is not a performance issue killer, I'd imagine Nemesis is the killer I would cite to say a killer that has performance issues, and has an orientation assigned for his hitboxes with multiple hitboxes (I believe his is 5 long sausages) that would mimic how the hatchet could spawn. If Nemesis can perform at an fine frame rate, a revised Huntress hatchet can too.
The easiest approach I would imagine would be have 4 spheres in a diamond formation centered on the hatchet in the orientation where Huntelress releases the hatchet, and simply track the 4 of them for hits instead of the 1 sphere currently. That would at least slim down the hatchet to hopefully reduce the fake hit issues....
However the survivor hitbox is probably more trouble that it's worth to try and fix.
FPS and fighting games have managed to have (relatively) accurate hitboxes for years now. It's absolutely possible.
-
No way of knowing really. It's one of those "do at your own risk" scenarios like custom perk icons AFAIK.
-
Dramaturgy does not need a nerf. It already:
- has a smaller Haste effect compared to other Exhaustion perks
- can't be used when injured
- can cause you to scream or become Exposed
There's zero need to introduce any other nerfs or downsides.
-
For some reason they refuse to fix this, despite the fact it's one of the most complained about things since Huntress was added and it should be an easy fix. Either:
- Make survivor hitboxes align better with the survivors (particularly while injured and running). The pill-shaped hitbox is really unintuitive and doesn't match the survivor's animations properly.
OR
- Make Huntress's hatchet hitboxes a little smaller. I don't think they need to be exactly hatchet-shaped. But something a little closer to the size of the hatchet would be more appropriate than the beach balls they are currently…
Heck, maybe even just do both.

Oh this has been a thing since dedicated servers came out to varying degrees, so say 2018 or so. It just becomes way more pronounced whenever there's high demand on their servers. Things llike events or big chapters or peak playing times, or the upgrade to UE5 a couple of months back.
It just becomes way more pronounced whenever there's high demand on their servers. Things llike events or big chapters or peak playing times
Yeah this is what I've been suspecting. Disconnects are worst right after chapter launches and during events for me. As for packet loss, it exclusively happens during peak play hours (i.e. in the evening when everyone gets home from school and work). I'm guessing they don't have enough server "bandwidth" (not sure of the exact terms) to cope with the amount of players they're getting, but clearly they don't want to shell out the money to upgrade them.
Sucky situation really.
-
Don’t experience this one personally but I do have similar issues on different maps. Being outside of the wreckage on Nostromo tanks my FPS, for example.

When there's high demand on their servers the minor memory leaks become not so minor, and you run into the issues you describe. I don't believe it has ever been acknowledged.
I don't believe it has ever been acknowledged.
Reaaallllyy hoping they acknowledge it soon because it’s becoming a big hindrance for me. Me and my duo now avoid playing during what we call “packet loss hours”, which is around the times Scott mentions. 6, 7, 8, 9 PM.

For me, the server issues started after the Castlevania update. That's when I started to get the "disconnected from host" issues on occasion. To this day I don't play nurse in public matches because I don't want to take the risk that the server will crash after I use her power. It really has taken away my ability to enjoy the game. That's why when people talk about wanting to have tougher dc penalties, I kind of disagree because I sure as hell don't want to get hit with an increasing dc penalty because of something I have zero control over.
And I play online games literally every day. Doom, Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed, Elder Scrolls, Minecraft etc. The only one that has ever given me any issues is DBD.
For me, the server issues started after the Castlevania update.
That was around September last year I think? Similar time frame to when I started having the issues too.
And I play online games literally every day.
Same here. Never have issues outside of DbD either.

Altruistic, no.
Spamming the living hell out of a killer with flashlights, BGP and Flashbang (if they have it) is abuse.
To put it in a simple manner, I WILL put on Lightborn when there are more than 2 flashlights in the lobby and I don't think I'm in the wrong for that.
Define “spamming”.

Not use, but abuse. No other word fits that type of playstyle.
And don't try to make me seem one sided, stacking 4 slowdowns on a strong killer seems wildly unnessesary to me.
Being altruistic is not abusive 🤦♂️

That's 2025 DbD for you sadly. Weak maps for survivors, overpowered killers and generators are taking forever to finish.
I’ve never bought into the “DbD is dying” train but honestly I think this game is gonna kick the bucket in a year or two if they don’t reverse course a little. It’s wild how many people on these forums don’t see how bad the survivor experience has become.
They somehow see survivors giving up en masse and think it’s a problem of “survivor entitlement” or a conspiracy to “inflate kill rates”. In reality, the majority of survivors are not bad or entitled people, nor are they part of some ridiculous anti-killer conspiracy. They just aren’t having fun and have independently came to the same conclusion that games aren’t worth playing out anymore. And if that isn’t a sign that the survivor experience needs looking into, I don’t know what is.

^ Do players not want to improve at the game? Watch some good survivor player streams to know how to run tiles on a map.
Some tiles are not “playable” and boil completely down to luck. I.e. edge map pallets on new Haddonfield. It’s not a skill issue, it’s a design problem.

Edit:
Oh, wait, it wouldn't work against flashlight saves.
No.
The 3/4 flashlight sqads can go to hell, Lightborn is the only way to counter them without an aneurysm.

lol. Would you say the same about killers who stack 4 slowdowns against solo q?

I don't know why people are so dramatic about this. Its literally for PTB. Who CARES. You can dc without a penalty to keep lobbies moving but bots cant be added to help with this as well?
I dont want to wait 20-30 minutes for a queue.
Because filling lobbies with bots to ease queue times has been considered for the live game before. The idea has appeared in feedback surveys with regards to event queues like 2v8. So it’s not outside the realm of possibility that this is a test of the system for use in the future.

Hate to sound cynical but I feel like the majority (or at least a significant portion) of the survivor playerbase are already done with the game.
That is, if the current DC/hook give up epidemic is anything to go by.

The problem I have with this perk can be summed up with one word: Nurse.

It's always funny how survivors wasting time gets defended. Neither side should be intentionally prolonging the game just to BM.
Because one is already solvable by just forcing them out. Is it annoying? Sure. But you can do something about it.
When it comes killers wasting time, there’s absolutely nothing you can do aside from eat a DC penalty. Last week I had a killer slug for the 4k harder than I’ve ever seen. Left me bled out for 3 minutes and then when I was nearing bleed out (and they still hadn’t found the fourth survivor), they kept picking me up and dropping me until I wiggled out, then they’d down me again. Rinse and repeat. I just DCed after like the 4th wiggle out.

I'd rather they didn't include non-horror properties but honestly that ship has already sailed with Lara Croft, DnD, Naughty Bear, AOT, etc. so honestly idek anymore. I guess idc.

Please, explain to me how my idea is bad and how it will negatively impact average level players.

I'll sometimes get someone who actually looks into my issue and is incredibly helpful, but sometimes I'll get someone who just gives me the run around. Looks like the original poster has copped the latter. These people need to understand they are representing the company as a whole and it's not a good look to not care when a paying customer is being outright deprived of a refund they are absolutely owed due to a mistake on the companies behalf.
My experience also. Either you get someone who is very helpful and solves the issue first try or points me towards someone who can, or you wait 5 business days for a response only to get nothing of substance in the reply.
-
So long as they have a monopoly on the genre, they won't address most of this. Sad but true.
They know they can get away with putting out an incessant stream of buggy and/or lacklustre content because even if players get upset, what are they going to do? Play a different horror asym? Not likely considering the rest of them are dead/dying.
The unfortunate reality is that if you want to play a horror asym, DbD is almost certainly your most (or only) viable option and that's why the devs aren't too worried about improving the things you've listed. The devs can continue to give us broken content like Houndmaster and the playerbase will stay, because there aren't any other good asymms out there to switch over to.

I think it is generally accepted that at the highest level of play (comp for example) that the game is massively survivor sided. This is why comp generally has specific maps and rulesets they play in order to try and balance the game a bit more into the killers favor.
For example, do you think the best trapper player in the world, could be the best, even 1000 survivors in the world that often? I would suspect if they played 10 games, the trapper may win 1-2 games at most and probably just due to RNG map generation.
The point though, is that remove these types of check spots, balances the game better at these levels, but on the flip side of it, it doesn't really harm survivors in lower MMR brackets, because again, these types of survivors aren't really using check spots, and probably aren't even aware of their existence. And so it wouldn't really harm lower level play where survivors struggle more.
You're. not. playing. comp.
Please, enough of this. Unless you're playing in tournaments, what happens in the comp scene is completely irrelevant. Of course survivors in the comp scene have a huge advantage, because:
- they're on comms
- have thousands of hours of practice
- know the maps they're playing on
- know the killer they will be playing against
- know what perks the killers are/aren't allowed to run
- know the teams they're playing against and what strategies they will use (given that they've likely competed before)
This is not true of the majority of public matches. Yeah you might get a SWF with high hours, but odds are they are just playing for fun and not doing clock callouts and all that nonsense. Comp is such an artificial environment that you cannot make any judgements of game balance from it.
If we balanced the game around comp, the game would die in like a week because no casuals would want to touch it anymore.
-
Are we serious…
The DbD forums are never beating the killer bias allegations.
Heavens forbid survivors are able to use their map knowledge in a chase.
