Agreed. I don't really get what they were going for here.
-
People would just leave once they see they've rolled survivor.

I just wanna know whys he's so quiet? Like Ada, Ace, Sheva, and Taurie, Orela has joined the favored few survivors who make the least amount of noise when injured, save for their screams. Even with Stridor equipped its difficult to hear their movement, breathing, and pained grunting… practically feels like they have built in Iron will.
The devs even promised a few years ago that they were gonna do an audio level balancing for all the survivor characters so that no one survivor would have a major advantage or disadvantage due to how quiet or loud they are, What happened to that?
They really need to get on with doing this. The longer they wait, the bigger the task will eventually be.
-
The music in the trailer was so good. I’d love to hear it in the lobby too. Shame they went with the default.
-
Bots drive away real survivor players, which means the net gain in queue times is only marginal.
The real solution is to make survivor an appealing role in 2v8. The easiest way to do that would be to add more classes. They can have a Plunderer class that focuses on chests, a Witch class that allows you to interact with totems, etc. Right now the class options are very limited. There's not much reason to play survivor when all the new gameplay is happening on the killer side.
-
A waste of time as usual. They haven't added anything of substance for survivors and the quality of teammates continues to be appalling.
I'll play enough to do the challenges and be done with it.
-
As killer, yes.
As survivor, no.
-
You got to wonder how these games keep failing when there are like a billion case studies of other failed asymms at this point that are perfect examples of how not to go about things.

You too? I've seen so many lately as well. I've started running Party Streamers to get in on the action lol.

unnaturally shiny
I've noticed this with the Onryo's cosmetics too. Particularly her red flowery outfit. Her skin is all shiny and reflective, which isn't how flesh behaves. Odd thing to change.

Even if that's true, why does it matter? It could have nice content for the game. I've seen people sharing their eagerness to have Champion and Linda in the game several times and it's not like people get original chapters with real money anyway. Also couldn't have been more of a flop as the likes of Houndmaster and SM.
Even if that's true, why does it matter?
Because they're a business. They need to make money if they want to keep the lights on. Making chapters based on content that underperformed is antithetical to that.
it's not like people get original chapters with real money anyway
Lots of people pay real money for the original chapters. If they didn't then BHVR would go bankrupt lol.
-
Because the game wasn't as successful as they'd hoped it would be. Hence why they're currently giving it away for like £6.
It'd be a big waste of money to make a whole chapter based on a game that didn't sell well.
-
I've been encountering the same thing. Some of the character models look weird and washed out.
-
Upending a colour scheme that has been around for the better part of a decade was a terrible idea. It's needlessly confusing that what we've always called "Green Med-kit", "Yellow Toolbox", etc. are now different colours.
And I really don't believe that such a change makes the onboarding process for new players any easier. I've never once played a new game and thought "Wow this rarity system is super confusing." Literally never. Like the words Common, Uncommon, Rare, etc. are RIGHT there. It wasn't difficult to understand at all.
-
Not an owner of the game myself, but I do remeber that when TCoFS first released, there were a lot of people having the same issue and talking about it on the forums and Twitter. The advice I saw at the time was to contact BHVR support, which I'd imagine is still the best port of call. They should be able to solve it for you.
-
Agree with everything you’ve said.
The new quests system is particularly egregious though. 2500 for a daily is INSULTING.
-
Ugh. This quest system seems like such a huge downgrade. And an unnecessary one too. What was so wrong with the Tomes?

This game is looking more and more like a free-to-play mobile game from 2017 and that's so depressing man
It's so tacky. They're gradually erasing all of DbD's visual identity.
-
Easily the worst Rift they've ever done, and the first one in years I'm not going to bother trying to complete.
It looks like each of the outfits were made by different people who interpreted the theme completely differently. I don't understand what they were going for here at all. The outfits are far too busy. Clashing colours, clashing patterns, strange cuts, eccentric hair styles, all topped with flowers? I'm lost here.
-
Yet another UI change no one wanted that just complicates things. BHVR’s speciality lately.

@Hex_Ignored said:
Well, let's just hope that if that really is a new game mode, the devs have thought of a really good incentive for survivors to queue up for that, as otherwise that mode will probably be as dead as lights out.
I don't know why you're being downvoted, you're 100% correct.
If the mode is what people are speculating it is (3rd person killer against 1st person survivors) then it's going to be dead on arrival. Very few survivors are going to want to play that.
-
Well now I feel like an idiot for 100%ing every single Tome. What was the point if they’re just going to remove them? I might as well have just done the bare minimum to get through The Rift and called it a day.
Kind of insulting for them to get rid of it after people have put so much time and effort into them. Thats genuinely thousands of hours of gameplay.

Yeah alot of us noticed this when the first teaser came out. I don't understand why they couldn't just stick to the original Until Dawn story
AFAIK the movie wasn't originally supposed to be Until Dawn. It was an original script that had the Until Dawn IP tacked onto it after being written because they didn't think it would sell tickets.
Regardless of the reason though, I find it pretty disrespectful to the fans of the original game (myself included). This isn't Until Dawn in anything but a name, and it follows a looooong trend of game-to-movie adaptations being very far removed from the source material.
-
I liked the event 🤷
It definitely has some shortcomings and needs improved for the next time but I found it enjoyable enough.
-
And here we go again, where killers will jump through unfathomable hoops to dismiss these statistics and tell us all about how these killers are actually terrible and lose every game instead of acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, the game isn't survivor sided anymore (and hasn't been for a long time).

I want to play survivor but nobody else does.
but nobody else does.
Therein lies the problem.
-
One of those "do at your own risk" type things AFAIK, like custom perk icons. I don't believe EAC or the developers actively seek out to ban people who do this (that would be pretty silly IMO), but the developers' stance on these kinds of things back in the day was "we won't actively ban you but if EAC flags you for it, we're not going to help you get unbanned." and I don't believe they've made any recent comments on it (so I'd assume this is still their stance).
That being said, I've been playing the game since 2016 and have never heard of anyone getting banned for uncapped FPS, custom perk icons, etc. so make of that what you will.
-
Borgo is horrendous these days. Barely has any pallets and the ones it does have are often incredibly weak. And that's not even mentioning half the tiles having missing windows.
Definitely needs looked at.

I agree. My idea was to make the males quieter as a compensation for being bigger.
This seems like the best way to even out the difference. Because as it stands, the males are at a pretty big disadvantage.

Rapid Response kinda sucks.
Lowkey I don't think any of her perks are all that great. Do No Harm is basically just We'll Make It in a different font, Rapid Response seems completely pointless, and Duty of Care sounds like a nice way to help teammates being tunnelled but it'll still just be more reliable to bring OTR + DS yourself rather than rely on teammates to help you out (at least in solo).
Can't see any of these getting common usage.
-
It's such an unnecessary change too. They should just scrap it.
-
I don’t see why not. They have the framework for it now that the Abandon feature exists and I can’t see this causing any problems. I say go they should go for it.
-
You actually did use to be able to switch killers in the lobby back in the day.
They removed the ability to do that around when MMR came out to prevent people from abusing the new matchmaking system. I.e.
- Readying up with a killer they don't play which has a low MMR.
- Getting matched with weak survivors based on that low MMR.
- Switching to their main killer in the lobby and stomping the survivors who are way below the killer's true skill level.
-
Very rarely but it has happened.
Usually only if I'm playing a brand new killer or going for an achievement or challenge or something though.

Blood Moon event is a lot of fun. First DbD event I've enjoyed in quite a long time.
Obviously there's a couple of oversights that need ironed out, but I'd love to see something like fueling generators come to the base game.

can you explain to me how I am gonna keep mental track of the totems my solo q survs cleanse? How am i gonna improve here and how is this not an example of soloq vs SWF difference?
I've said this time and time again RE: Pentimento but no one ever actually answers this. They just hit your comment with a downvote and call it a day.
Truth is a lot of the killers around here like that these perks disadvantage solo queue and will do everything in their power to keep it that way. They harp on about how a small-range aura reveal is going to "buff SWFs too much". But SWFs already have that information and have done for years. They 100% know this, they just don't want solo queue players to be able to have a piece of the pie too. Which really just serves to shoot themselves in the foot because if we never bridge the gap between solos and SWFs, then how on earth do they expect SWF to ever be meaningfully balanced without unduly hurting solo players?
Lol.
-
Bloodshot Eye. I'm currently playing and levelling Kaneki so unforunately don't have any Screech Cobblers to play. If I had some on him I would definitely use them.
-
There was a time when I tracked my matches with spreadsheets and Nightlight and my escape rate was around 30%. I don’t bother tracking my stats any more though because it was just depressing how many matches ended up ruined for whatever reason.
-
Another unnecessary and annoying UI change. I’m disappointed but not at all shocked. They do this like every other update.

I play solo queue, so I fully agree that these changes are helpful for solo queue players. The problem is that these solo queue buffs also provide unnecessary buffs to SWF and there never have been (and probably never will be) any offsetting nerfs to SWF to compensate.
This isn’t giving anything to SWF that they couldn’t already do.
If we’re talking about nerfing the % slowdown then sure, but I already said I’m against that.
-
@Caiman said:
Fully deserved in every way. You try playing against this perk in a build designed for it while in a soloQ team. It's like having your teeth pulled.
They can make it -10% repair and healing speed for each Pentimento, that's fine. I'm happiest with the aura reveal change.
Crazy how we’re being downvoted for saying that players should be on equal footing and not disenfranchised based on whether they’re solo or coordinated lol
Heavens forbid the most neglected role in the game get any kind of consideration.
-
I’ve always been in favour of a Pentimento nerf because of how much worse it is to deal with in solo queue. Every time I see this perk pop up I just know the match is over.
That being said, the only thing I think it needed was a small aura reveal radius for rekindled totems. The big issue for solo queue is that you don’t know where your teammates have been cleansing totems. Dull totems give you no indication and the loud noise notification from lit totems only gives you a general direction.
Revealing the aura of rekindled totems in say 8? metres gives some parity between SWFs who can call out locations when they cleanse and solo queue teams who can’t communicate.
I don’t think the perk needed nerfs to its numbers too. It was purely a SWF v Solo queue problem for me.
-
Yes and no.
Yes in that the updates and new content we get nowadays are *generally* in the right direction. There's much fewer curve balls in the patch notes these days than there was back in the day.
No in the sense that the quality control is still horribly lacking. It's dire how many serious bugs still get pushed to live.
-
This is so sad :(
I had so many retired offerings on my Meg and Nurse </3

If it was balanced the way I wanted, we'd have a competitively viable game.
A dead one.
Pretty much.
I can guarantee the number of people who want DbD to be “competitively viable” and would actually play such a version of the game is not enough for BHVR to pay the bills lol. It’s a sure fire way to kill the game.

Houndmaster. Thats it. By far one of the most balanced killers released in awhile. She has a mix of niche traversal and a counterable chase power that relies on both survivor and killer's skill to dodge and land grabs. Camping pallets though garuntees a dog stun, you waste pallets faster, so you can't just camp and make her power useless. Both sides suffer, and thats fair
Speaking in terms of concept, sure. But the execution of Houndmaster leaves a lot to be desired IMO. She’s just too buggy to enjoy playing for me. But I get what you’re saying.

Funny how you found Slug/Tunnel takes no skill when Killer actually has to outplay Survivors in chase to do that.
At the same time, Survivors holding M1 on Gens + Go for marathon with Sprint Burst/Lithe when Killer comes are so incredibly ‘skillful’ that they should win about every matches, especially against M1 Killers.
Survivors holding M1 on Gens + Go for marathon with Sprint Burst/Lithe
Who said repairing or Sprint Burst is skill full? Certainly not me lol
